Wayyy overpriced donuts...they only take cash too! I found a big black hair in my donut and almost threw up. The place looks dirty too! I smelled RAID when I wake in. I hope the heath department has been checking up on this place. Won't be back! Delish donuts and the donut truck (forget the name) have amazing donuts.

Best donuts in Bend - Probably even Central Oregon. Period.

Kind, friendly staff and beyond delicious donuts. They are now a regular treat for the office. CASH or local checks only!

I really like how light their dough is. The donuts are quite large, but no as filling as you'd think. I've only had the maple bar, but it was very good. Not quit Voodoo (which isn't in Bend), but very good.

Whenever my boss travels up to Bend to visit family she always brings me back donuts from here and they are amazing. Two to three days later and they are still delicious (she brings me many donuts, and I am only but one person). And to the people complaining about them not taking credit/debit: lots of mom and pop shops don't take card. Grow up, it's not the end of the world. Credit card processing fees are no joke (especially at a business, like this, that would process lots of very small transactions). It's a shame if you would let something as unimportant as a lack of credit/debit stop you from enjoying some delicious donuts.

I expected decent donuts, but they were amazing! Hit the spot and the craving!

Donuts are really good. The plain donuts literally melt in your mouth. Maple bar and jelly filled donuts were also very delicious. My only complaint (and its a biggie), they only take cash!

Wow! First time in town, first thing I ate. Got the Maple glaze cinnamon roll...amazing. also very well priced.

Best classic donuts. Maple and chocolate glaze is great and they have the best apple fritters. If you want more of a crazy donut like an Oreo or bacon maple or pb&j try "the dough nut" shop in bend. But for the best classics "Richards" is the place

We loved our doughnuts this morning and the sweet lady who served us. We will be back!

They only take cash!!! I went here one late afternoon and picked out three donuts. I handed the asian owner cash and she said "we no take debit cards". I ran to my car to scrap up some money and found 3 bucks. I ran back in and the lady said "it $5.25." REALLY...for 3 donuts??? Is flour and grease really that expensive??? I said "sorry I don't have enough money" and turned to leave. Considering they were almost closed, you might think she would sell them for $3 bucks and hope for a returning customer...but nope! Just give me mo money! Was she planning on selling the old donuts the next day? Was she planning on throwing them in the trash? Hopefully she gives them to the homeless!!! Great impressions or building repeat customers must not matter to this donut owner. Thankfully Bend has lots of donuts shops to choose from because I won't be going back! WHY DO THEY ONLY TAKE CASH??? CASH DOESNT TALK, THATS WHY. ARE THEY TRYING TO GET OUT OF PAYING THEIR FAIR SHARE?

Richard's makes the right donut. Not pretentious, not chasing after Portland style donuts, but simply the donut you expect when you think of a delicious piece of fried bread that costs under a buck. I've never had a cruller as well made as this. Blueberry cake is amazing. Even the glazed raised doesn't disappoint. Don't waste your time with Safeway, Albertson's, or really any other donut shop in town. This is the real deal folks.

Beware: They DO NOT accept debit or credit cards. Only cash. My family and I walked in, prepared to have a breakfast of donuts and coffee, spending at least $15-20 dollars, but were turned away because they don't take any type of cards at all. Man, even mobile donut trucks and food carts take cash nowadays. They need to get with the times and catch up with technology. I'd even be willing to pay a little bit more to make up for whatever service fees they're hoping to avoid. Sadly, they're losing a lot of potential customers and business from those who don't like to carry a bunch of cash around. So disappointing.

Best donuts - perhaps that I have ever eaten. Owners are so nice, and remember you by name. The best donuts period in Bend - I recommend the devils food cake with coconut! And they always throw me some free donut holes. Cannot beat that.

Let me preface this review by saying that I compare all donut shops to my hometown donut shop, which I feel makes the best donuts anywhere. Were craving donuts as we hit the road going home from our vacation. Based on the reviews, we decided to stop by Richard's. I don't think I've ever been a bigger, cleaner donut shop. They had huge counters and a lot of different types of donuts. The young man behind the counter was unbelievably friendly and helpful. He nicely insisted that I buy at least one raised glaze with chocolate because they were still warm. So, I bought 2. We bought typical cake donuts, raised glazed and their recommended apple fritter. The raised glazed was indeed very warm and VERY delicious. Really enjoyed it. We all agreed that the cake donuts, though very tasty and fresh, were a little heavy. All 5 of us tried the apple fritter and were split in half in our opinions. I am not an apple fritter fan, but thought the fritter was very, very good. My dad, who LOVES apple fritters said he thought it was "okay." A little too greasy for his liking. But, we all agreed that Richard's was one of the better donut shops we have tried outside of our hometown place. We'd go back when in Bend and craving donuts.

This is an old school, classic donut shop. You won't find donuts with bacon on it, nor will you find cereal on any donuts. There are no gluten-free or vegan donuts here. All you will find here is simply the best donuts in Bend. Most of their donuts are done perfectly. The frosting is the perfect combination of sweetness, consistence and flavor. The raised doughnuts have a subtle firmness that is excellent. The old fashioned are superb. And their crullers are amazing. Richards has set the bar for me, and I have not found better doughnuts anywhere.

Moms got herself an older Mercedes SUV because she had that "treat yo'self" mentality she so deserved. Adamant that her tires were low she stopped by the dealership to have them take a look. I waited in the car while she walked like a boss into the waiting area and grabbed me two pieces of donuts. They were Richard's apple fritters. Now, I hate warm fruits in a dessert. I can't stand grilled fruits. I detest most sweet pies because of that fruit factor (though I AM a fan of pie crust. I've been known to make an entire blueberry pie and then pick out all the blueberries just so the warm buttery fluffy crust was left and then a la mode that shit). But these.... was AWESOME. Maybe it's because I haven't had a decent donut in a while. Maybe it's because all I've heard were good things about Richard's Donuts. Maybe it's because I'm getting settling into my new found sweet tooth pants (I'm usually a savory person). WHATEVER. They are crunchy on the outside, moist on the inside, sweet yet not too sweet. I swallowed the donuts in less than 3 bites. The next day, I trooped through the rain to get another apple fritter, and then one more for the next day. Yum. I also ordered the maple donut with cream/ pudding inside. That was also delicious but nothing like the fritters. A little pricey for donuts, nice service, great donuts. 3 stars for the fritters alone.

My husband describes this as "the family doughnut store that your grandparents have been taking you to since you were little" great service, hospitality, warm, friendly "family like" feel. Excellent huge selection of literally the best doughnuts I've ever had! They always taste fresh even when I go in minutes before they clothes. They are very kid friendly as well. Hands down the best doughnut shop in Bend.

I have been here several times and the donuts are consistently good. I am particularly impressed with how clean the place is and the nice people. Getting back to the donuts...I do not particularly like apple fritters...but...I had a warm one here and it was *fantastic*! As for chocolate glazed, the frosting is sweet, but doesn't taste like chocolate, so save the calories for the fritter.

So sweet. No really, really sweet. The person at the counter was so nice she even threw an extra glazed donut in with our order. My go-to donut is always the maple bar and this one was just right. It was also about 1/4 larger than your average donut. They offer a traditional selection of donuts and we enjoyed a variety of old-fashioned and cake donuts. They have all the standards. A bit out of the way since it is pretty far south on Highway 97, close to the Bend Factory Stores, but well worth a visit.

Sorry to go against all the good reviews but you can get better doughnuts at a grocery store, unfortunately. The staff here is very friendly though and my kids aren't picky with their doughnuts so I still bring them here, but I don't get anything for myself because I've never enjoyed any of the pastries. Yes doughnuts are usually sweet, but their's are WAY too sweet!

I've noticed lately the toppings have been getting a little skimpy. The shredded coconut for example. Just a light dusting once again this morning. No real "shreds" of coconut to speak of. Maybe it's just my bad luck as of late. I hope so.

Seriously...some of the BEST donuts I have ever had. Deserving of the 5 stars. Sure, you could drive 4 hours for a Voodoo Donut, then wait another hour in line, but you'll be thinking about the 4 hour drive back for one of Richard's. Just moved to Bend and went looking for a donut shop nearby. Richard's is about 1/4 mile from my place, so I figured it would just be a "local" one, not setting any expectations. I got a cinnamon roll that was absolutely perfect...for a donut. Not greasy, very flaky...just the right flavoring. Same with the tiger tail twist. All of the cake donuts we got were excellent as well. I had a piece of cherry frosted cake donut with sprinkles as a dessert at night and it was fantastic...really...fantastic. I snuck another piece too. I was very surprised at how well this place came across as my expectations weren't high. Small store in a small town... But these are really some of the best donuts we have ever had, and I highly recommend them. -- Updated to add... I have visited hundreds of donut and pastry shops in my life. The ones that stick out have high-quality product and friendly staff. Richard's qualifies as a hometown favorite that beats out many of my long-standing ones.

I am in love with pink donuts. In particular, cake donuts with cherry icing. So I was more than thrilled to find Richard's Donuts and Pastries less than a mile from my new home in Bend. The first time that I went to Richard's was on a Wednesday morning, around 7 am. The place was empty, but the huge display case was filled with fantastic looking donuts. I immediately spied my beloved cherry cake donut and thought I'd died and gone to heaven. However, then I noticed the note hanging by the cash register: "Cash Only". Ugh! I rarely carry cash. So, with my 20 month old son on my hip I hopped back into the car and hit the nearest ATM. And boy am I glad that I did! The donuts were fresh, perfectly sweet and melted in my mouth. My son, husband and I scarfed a whole dozen of various donuts (old-fashioned, chocolate, long johns, boston cream, fritters...) by the next morning. The last time that I went to Richard's was on a Saturday morning around 9 am. The place was packed! Groups of family and friends sat at all of the tables and there were at least 10 people in line ahead of me. To my sadness, many of the donuts that I loved were not in the display case, in particular my husband's favorite, the old fashioned with chocolate icing. It looks like you've gotta get there pretty early on a Saturday morning to get your pick. But that's ok--it's worth getting up early on a Saturday for those delicious donuts. Also, their prices are a bit high, as they charge per donut instead of a flat price for a dozen. The last dozen I bought was over $12. However, they do give a $1 discount for a dozen, so I wound up paying a little over $11. A little pricey for donuts? Yeah. But oh-so good!
