I lived in LA for 9 years before moving to Bend, and so a good Mexican restaurant was one of the first things we set out to find. We tried several around town before finding Los Jalapenos, and this is our favorite! It's the closest to the authentic Mexican in town, and they use high quality, locally sourced beef, which I totally appreciate. Also their horchata is made from scratch and is deliciously creamy. My favorites are the street tacos, which are large size tacos, not street taco size, the bell pepper breakfast burrito, and the enchiladas with a red mole sauce. They have great interesting salad options, and their green salsa is so refreshing I could drink it. So happy we've found this place, and now we're there at least once a week.

My favorite burrito place in Bend. The food is great and not too spicy for gringos like me. If you like it hot you can add their tasty sauces yourself. Plenty of menu options, American portion sizes, low prices, and friendly service make this place a hidden winner. Patio seating when the weather is nice and take-out are the best ways to eat here. Loses one star for cramped indoor seating, tiny parking lot, and hard to find location if you haven't been there.

Good, solid authentic Mexican. Just stopped this morning for breakfast burritos and it was good eats. Service is prompt and food is solid. Will be back over and over.

Returned to this place, and I realized...... with all of the delicious places in Bend, I don't know why I'd ever bother going here again. Their prices are way, way, way too high for what you get.

This is one of my favorite places to stop for lunch. They have huge burritos and the chicken chimichanga plate is especially yummy! Everyone is always super friendly too!

Fast and cheap with substandard food. The burrito I ate here tasted like it was made exclusively from products supplied by Sysco. Industrial and bland.

I live in L.A. and I haven't found Mexican food like Los Jalapenos. Big Fan!

This place is small and clean. They make their own chorizo, which is delicious. No salsa bar, with is a negative, but salsa is readily available and you aren't charged for it. The service is basic, go up to a counter and order, but the employees are extremely friendly and helpful. Entrees under $10 bucks.

This place gets stars for authenticity. It is a very tiny restaurant on the East Side run by a Mexican family with no frills Mexican food. They have happy hour until 6pm most days that consists of a pretty big margarita with a plate of food (they have a few options for food like tacos and nachos) for about $9. The margaritas are so-so; they are made with sour mix - I am a margarita purist and I like mine with lime juice, tequila and agave nectar and I HATE sour mix. We got the carne asada tacos and plan nachos and they were not that impressive. This is a good spot for families and the service is good but I don't know that I will be rushing back.

This one was hard to review. We stuck to the burritos for our first shot. The owner was there and he knocked this place up to 3 stars himself. I feel like he has a relationship with the customers and I don't see that often. The burritos were okay. The layout was good and the size and clarity of their menu makes things a hell of a lot easier for newcomers. The cashier is what deducted points for me. I imagine it's the owners daughter and she is burned out from having to work there all the time. I don't know but she wasn't very nice to us gringos. I'll pass on the carne asada *sigh* and go with their carnitas next time. Red salsa is nice and HOT and the green is almost drinkable.

For our second time here we loved the food. We came for the horchata and happy hour deals. I got the fish tacos combo plate which comes with rnb and my wife got the chicken enchilada combo plate with rnb and a carne asada taco on the side. The horchata tasted watered down, didnt taste freshly made, but the food was delicious. I topped my fish tacos with an habanero sauce that was dank! For what's it worth I would recomend this place. I have to come back for the camarones a la diabla

The family and I went here to have a quick lunch before I went to work . And I ordered the chicken enchilada combo with a Asada taco and It was alright the Asada taco was great but I personally didn't like the chicken enchilada it wasn't very flavor full . My husband had the fish tacos which were really good. I will definitely come back to try something different on there menu.

It's the hole in the wall places that I love and this is one. I always come for breakfast (the most important meal of the day). Breakfast here reminds me of home; chiliquiles and the huevos rancheros I add chorizo to my plate. The salsa's are what do it for me. Just enough spice without being over done.

Tasty morning breakfast burrito... it was solid, but not great. 4 Stars for me. Good service, cool little spot and the price was very reasonable. I would come again!

Best Cheese Enchiladas ever. I am a mexican food snob who lived in Los Angeles for 15 years. This place is amazing and compares favorably to some rome of the best mexican food from. Great value. Great service and the food is constantly amazing. I love this place and wish it were open on Sundays.

Tastes like it was shipped from the streets of Puerto Vallarta. This ain't your Taco Bell - it's legitimate Mexican food to appease your taste buds. It's amazing. Seriously. Visiting from Wisconsin and will definitely be back again.

This place has the best Mexican food in Bend hands down. Being an ex Californian, I had access to some of the best and most affordable Mexican food ever. I struggled to find anything halfway decent until I stumbled upon this little diamond in the rough. Order the supreme quesadilla and a cucumber margarita if you want your mind blown from all of the deliciousness.

Would love to continue to support this local business but they cant get the simplest things right over and over again. Though it sounds petty, they have repeatedly messed up my order on a simple burrito off the menu with one thing added on. NOT A LANGUAGE BARRIER EITHER. They dont care what comes out of the kitchen once its paid for. After messing it up 4 times already i tried them again and sure enough they did the exact same thing., It almost feels like they are messing with me but really they messed them selves up cuz i now will never spend another dollar there.

If it's great service and great food that you're looking for this is the best place in town for burrito. Not fancy but neat clean and great people! I've probably eaten here 100 times at least I've never had a bad meal.

Oh Yum! This was my favorite burrito spot in Bend! So good! Haven't had a burrito to compare since we moved out of state. Can't wait to move back and have access to these awesome burritos again!

The restaurant itself may be tiny, but the flavors in the food are big and bold. One bite of the enchiladas and you'll see why Mr. Morales, who is a very nice guy, has such a loyal following for his business. Menu items include standards like burritos and chicken or beef tacos as well as some veggie options, including chile relleno. But maybe the best of things is the homemade sauces and salsas. Some of which Los Jalapenos has just started to sell retail through local grocery markets, like Newport Avenue Market where they were doing free samples today of their chicken or cheese enchilada with their salsa verde and pico de gallo. They also had red salsa with chips for dipping. It was that tasting event that led me to post this review. Because even if you don't want to go to Los Jalapenos to stand in line, you can now buy their freshly made and zippy for heat seasonings salsas and pico de gallo at Newport Avenue Market and maybe other local retailers. Look for the nice sized containers with the Los Jalapenos label on them in the refrigerated case. Then buy some. Your tastebuds with thank you!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
