Darn... have heard 'amazing' things about their sandwiches... but first impressions gave me terrible pause! Firstly, they are so proud of their 'Freaky Fast Delivery'... but the way the delivery drivers scarily drive makes me feel like they are being paid on Tips Alone and must Rush around in order to make money during their shift! Back in the day, Domino's Pizza came into criticism (due to driving safety) for their '30Mins or Free' Campaign, I perceive the same issue on the horizon for Jimmy John's. Secondly, we have a 14mth old, so when we hit sandwich spots we'll order a side of Avo, maybe cheese, and maybe add a bit of our sandwich bread to the plate. We asked about getting a side of their Avo Spread... Answer, "We Can't"... I was so taken aback, haven't heard 'can't' in a service facility in a looooong time! So, they explained, "We have nothing to 'put' it on"... I asked them to just put a scoop on the said of my 'plate' (or whatever)... they thought about putting some of it in a cheese slice even, that would have been great & we'd pay for side of cheese & avo! But, apparently, they all kinda' got verklempt and proceeded to say, "Oh, well, we don't have an option to 'add' a side to the computer order, we can give you a 6" sandwich with just the Avo Spread on it.".... DOH!! I proceeded to try my hardest to HELP them help me with good customer service, when my hubs 'pulled rank' and said we were done and that we'd head over to Mio Sushi for lunch... Thank Goodness!! :)

I was in Bend and I thought I would give this place a chance. The sandwich ingredients were fresh and tasted great but the bread was just not right. It was a bit tough and would have been way better if they just used softer bread. As for sandwiches go, the ones here are mediocre. I still prefer the sandwiches at Big Town Hero than the ones here.

I love the sandwiches here but the music makes me wanna punch someone!!! I mean really! AC/DC? I'm trying to eat here and all I wanna do is leave and not come back! The people at the Old Mill site are great as well as the one on Hwy 20 but stop with the head bangin crap slappin music!!! Please!

Freaky fast, FREAKIN' GOOD! I'm on a total Jimmy Johns kick right now. Coworker ordered one a week ago and was going on and on about how good the sandwiches were AND they deliver. Yeah..blah, blah, blah... Then it arrives. A #9 Italian Night Club. Irony here, #9 is the number of my favorite sandwich at their main competitor: Togos. Maybe it's cause I was starving and practically drooling, but she offered me a bite. Oh yum. Yum, yum, yum! Next day? Ordered Jimmy Johns for all of us. And then again today. Freaking fast. Freaking good. I'm hooked. Cannot speak about the location, as we've only done delivery. Prices are exceptionally fair considering the delivery. The sandwich itself is quite good. I like the way they build them. Condiments (mayo) on the bread, then the meat (kinda tube style) with the lettuce and veggies in the middle of the "tube". Different than Subway (blah) and my old favorite: Togos. Now, my coworker who got me hooked was disappointed in the bread. She is adamant that down in Arizona the bread was fresher, softer. But I thought it was pretty good. No complaints from me. Another note: The Jimmy Johns bag-o-chips are bigger than what you'd find at Togos or Subway. A decent sized bag of crunchy goodness. I see others complaining of incorrect orders. Hasn't happened with us yet. Maybe management is listening. At this point, I am completely satisfied with Jimmy Johns and can truthfully say, "Yah! I'm a fan."

So nice and fast. They offered to cut our sandwiches in half b/c they knew that we had a kid and that my sister and I were also sharing. Just so cute. I love Bend sometimes... and the service here is one of the reasons that I do enjoy Bend. It is a little cold in the restaurant though, and the parking can be a little frustrating. But overall, love this Jimmy John's. Plus, not sure how you can't love this sandwich. It's one of the best in the world.

Subs are not nearly as good as subway. So loud in the restaurant you couldn't even talk to the person next to you. Subs come with nothing on them, you have to go wait in yet another line to get little packets of mayo and mustard. Staff not very friendly.

I live at the Old Mill so am constantly seeing Jimmy John's drivers flashing through here. My issue is not with the food, but with the service. They drive like fricken' maniacs, assumingly because management tells them to. If you like taking walks around the Old Mill, look out who's coming because they could - without exaggeration - drive right over the top of you. There have been many close calls, and every time they drive on my back street, they inevitably hit the curb and almost go off in the brushes. This is very dangerous behavior for our walking/biking friendly community. I think the public should know and be warned about dealing with them.

The first thing I want to mention is how freaking loud it is in there. We asked them to turn it down a little so we could hear each other but they replied that the volume was at the "corporate level" and then turned it down a tiny bit a few seconds later. Hope they didn't get fired...? STUPID. I don't know about you but I have a hard time eating with Florence and the Machine and Muse screaming at me. As far as the sandwich goes... the bread was soft and yummy. The meat was tasty but there wasn't enough (you can order extra meat for $1.50 but it was my first time there and didn't know that that would be necessary). The veggies are basic: lettuce, onion, tomato and hot peppers if you ask for them. I like a bigger variety of veggies in my sandwiches a la subway but... BUT they have sprouts! and that was their saving grace for me. Also, in Pepsi-dominated Bend, this place carries Coca-Cola... so I was happy... enough.

Great subs, great location, great prices! Always like the "Vito", and from the name you can tell what that is all about. Anita likes the "Totally Tuna", which is equally tasty. This is a vastly superior sub experience from the franchise that dominates this segment of the market. Highly recommended.

Jimmy johns is a chain of sandwich shops slowly popping up in many new places, and it is so good! Damn simple sandwiches on amazing fresh French bread, can't go wrong. Pass up subway and quiznos and give it a try!

GREAT price and the food is amazing. Staff is VERY friendly. I love it here. My complaint is they get my order wrong A LOT. Small stuff like not taking off tomatoes or not cutting it in half, but it happens so often I get annoyed. I also have it delivered to my work multiple times a week and no matter how many times I say NO ICE there is always ice in my soda. The one time it had no ice was because my usual delivery guy was gone and the new kid actually read my order. Wish the sandwich sizes were 12" instead of 8". I know, I know, that's what she said.

Just got back from this place for the first time with my girlfriend, Thought it was alright. My GF didnt like it at all, She was trying to scrape the massive amount of mayo they put on her sandwich, She was getting to the point of being sick. My sandwich wasnt bad, Just not too exciting and I did not like the bread, Very hard. Wish i woulda asked to cut my sandwich in half also, Didnt expect it not to be. The customer service was very friendly and obviously quick. Probably wont be coming back for awhile though. Overall Id say worth a try.

If you want something fast and don't care what it is -this is your place. I seriously don't get this place. They are so eager to show you how fast they can make your sandwich. However if you try to be specific about how you want it made - they are genuinely annoyed. Both our sandwiches came with lots of mayonnaise, lots of lettuce, and very little of anything else. The amount of meat is so little it seems like an afterthought.

    (1)
  • Jon B.

Manager was rude/agro, sandwich was meh...they were fast though..asked for pepperoncinis, "we don't have those" ok, how about some pickles? "You want to buy a pickle man, give me $1.50!" Do you have any sort of peppers? "Yes" Can I have some on my sandwich? "Bring you sandwich here man" Not expecting to be treated like a 5 star restaurant but treat your customers with respect.

I used to work in the Old Mill and had a sandwich from JJ's at least once a week. I kinda miss it. Try the Italian Night Club with hot peppers if you need an idea for lunch. Anyway, I read a few reviews and I guess I see it as a sandwich shop to grab your sandwich and go. Not a place to sit and chat, though I do love that they have outdoor seating in the summer. My husband works right next door and he eats there quite frequently as well. I have never been disappointed in their sandwiches and this review is kind of making me crave one. As far as not being able to make special considerations for sides and such, I think people should probably consider their motto. It's fast. It's a sandwich. This is not a gourmet experience. They get those sandwiches done and ready at the end of the line before you can even walk that far. Could they make special attempts to put avocado in a dish or cheese on a napkin? Sure, but you just took away the reason they exist; to kick out a fast, great sandwich. Sometimes you just have to go with the flow. I bet a person with a toddler could pluck the cheese or tomato off their sandwich and put it on a napkin once at a table.

    (5)
  • Coleman Q.

fast and decent sandwiches. If you are in the area and don't want to have a long sit down lunch its a good option. I always get the chicken and bacon. As for light mayo because they put way too much on in my opinion. There is nothing super exciting about this place. Old Mill fast food is the way I look at it.

  • John A.

I've had Jimmy John's deliver a couple dozen times and they are always fast. They can't take too much credit there, given that their delivery radius isn't very big, but I can appreciate it. I order online, so I can't speak about the in-store staff, but the drivers are always quick and friendly. I appreciate the website and the ordering process is very intuitive and customizable. I'm not so sure about the whole "gourmet sandwiches" thing. That surely must be a typo on their logo. The sandwiches are decent, but nothing special. I'm a full-grown man with an average appetite and it takes nearly $15 to build myself a meal of a #10 Hunter's Club with easy bacon, soda, small bag of chips, and a pickle. Add another couple bucks if I want a cookie. And the tip for the driver... Or I could save the tip and make the trip myself, but parking is often a nightmare at the store. Bottom line: the delivery is quick, the sandwiches aren't bad, and they have a great record of getting my orders correct...but $15+ is too much for what is essentially a one-sitting, fast-food meal.

Ok, chain like Subway- nothing special. Waiting for husband in Urgent Care across street & needed something close/quick so couldn't go to better shops downtown. Kind of knew what was walking into & delivered fast & ok sandwich. Most food in mill district is chain & gross so that just goes with territory. If you have choices better shops/sandwiches are downtown.

DISGUSTINGLY GROSS. This is unbelievable! Tuesday night, while on vacation, I ordered four 8 inch sandwiches from the Jimmy John's in the Old Mill District in Bend, Oregon. While the last sandwich was being built I asked the server, while the avocado was on the knife, if he could put it on the side. He stated that he could not do it because he didn't have a container. I offered up an empty water cup that was on the counter and suggested that he us it. I'm paying for it so what is the difference if it goes on the sandwich or in a container? He looked at the manager (Tim) and he stated that it was against policy to serve condiments on the side. I told him that this was ridiculous and that he would lose my sale if he could not put the avocado on the side. His words were "fine with me". I canceled the order and watched in complete disgust as one of the workers pulled all the meat off the three complete sandwiches and put it back in the serving tray. I commented about the situation and was requested to leave by Tim. This is the complete truth without exaggeration! Tim....you did a lot of harm to the franchise owner's store and to the Jimmy John's name in general. Never will I step foot in any Jimmy John's again. Update 8/27/14 Hey Jimmy John's. I sent a copy of this to your corporate office the day of the original posting and still have not heard back from you. Any comments?

Delivery range is as far as they can throw it. Don't bother unless you want to pick your thrown sandwich up off the ground. Lots of hype without much delivery (pardon the pun). I'm calling BS on the speed too. They only deliver a block away so it only takes them 40 minutes to get there.

Man, I love the sandwiches here! I wished we had one of these a long time ago. The bread and taste is so amazing, especially for being a chain. In my opinion, this place is way better than subway or any of the other sub shops I have been to! You gotta try it if you're looking for a good sub!
