Let me first say that I have been to China so I take my Chinese cuisine pretty seriously. I was hesitant to come here because it had just opened and I hadn't heard anything, but I decided to take the risk and I am so thankful I did. The atmosphere is very comfortable but also classy, great for groups but I think cozy enough even for dinner for one. The staff is very quick and very friendly, at least six different people asked how my meal was. The menu is traditional, but with enough variety that I felt it had some things I couldn't get anywhere else. I love that they have Peking duck and crispy whole fish! Just like in Beijing! Can't wait to go back so I can order it again. I ordered the sizzle plate and I was surprised when they brought the components to the table and assembled it right there, so I got to see the moment the food hit the iron and explode in aeromatic steam! 10/10 will come back.

Stopped by for lunch. Tried the Kung Pao chicken with fried rice from the lunch special menu. It came with a cup of egg flower soup which was good. They also served hot tea along with water. The Kung Pao chicken tasted awesome and was not greasy like some places. The fried rice was also very flavorful. The waiters kept checking if the food was good. Need to try some of their other dishes.

My favorite Hunan/Szechuan restaurant! Was so sad when the N. Tigard location closed. Excellent food, friendly staff, quick service, reasonably priced.

What a great hidden spot. Not well hidden, as it seems like many people come here as it gets lots of reviews. But it is a bit tucked away behind several run of the mill fast food joints. I'll start with the quick breakdown. We all loved all the selections we made. The pupu platter is great. And quite the presentation. My son loved his chicken fried rice, my daughter wolfed down her sweet and sour chicken. Wife and I shared the sizzling happy family and the schesuan beef. The service was good, but a little slow at times even given the place was near empty, (odd for a Friday, but maybe it was because it was after thanksgiving?). I can't complain because it was nice that it wasn't super loud and noisy. But we still had good service. I'm just baffled at how empty the place is seeing as how the food is so amazing. We will come back, and I know lots of people dig this place on service, but I am glad we tried it. I would recommend it, and being patient, I thought it was well worth it.

We've tried this place 2 times now. It's located in a building that has a long string of previous Chinese restaurant failures. But, the choices for Chinese food are pretty limited in the Beaverton area so we decided to give it a try. So far we've liked the food and experience both times we've went. They have a bar but a limited menu of mostly tropical cocktails. Don't let that stop you from ordering another type of cocktail as they seem reasonably accommodating (e.g. dirty martini). We've ordered about a dozen types of dishes to sample the menu. It was all pretty good. Some people have complained about the spicy items not being really spicy. Just ask your waiter/waitress to up the flame level. Use a 5 star hotness scale (1=least hot, 5=most hot) and ask the waiter/waitress what level they think the item is normally served at. For mine, the reply came back as 2 stars so I asked for 4 stars of hotness and it was indeed a really spicy/hot dish. About the interior, yes, it is cavernous but they've done a good job in decorating and I like it. Some raters have also said the service was slow. I think they've got the message on this, or at least the service was quite good on the 2 occasions we went. Of course, I take a lot of pictures and they might have realized I was going to post a Yelp review. The net-net is that this restaurant is one of the better Chinese restaurants around the area and I hope they break the Chinese curse at this location.

The service was prompt and very good. The eggrolls were slightly mushy inside, and had either onion or leek and the flavor was strongly oniony and strange. the dipping sauce with the eggrolls was a terrible combination of flavors. The egg flower soup was simple but tasty. The chicken with green beans was good although some of the green beans were burned. The pork with black bean sauce was oddly similar to the other dish in flavor and coloring. They said the pork with black bean sauce was spicy but it really wasn't. I hope it's not one of those places were all the sauces are the same? it wasn't bad but wasn't great either. They just opened so may improve with time.

Really nice Chinese. Spicy to your taste and a broad menu. A little on the costlier side though.

Service was friendly but the food was flavorless, even the white rice felt off. Ordered the General Sao, Grean Beans with beef and pepper salted squid.

wanting to skip cooking dinner on a Saturday night we decided to try out the new Wu's. we got there about 6:30 expecting the place to be packed but it was less than half full so we were seated quickly. to be fair the restaurant did fill up shortly after we got there. Wu's is still suffering from start up inconsistencies and our experience was less than stellar. service was slow and spotty. at every Chinese restaurant I've eaten at before if you set the tea pot at the edge of the table with the lid open they refill it. here they picked it up and we never got a refill. we ordered brown rice with our meal and somehow that confused them as it took a good ten minutes after the food showed up for the rice to make it to the table. the food was mixed. we ordered pot stickers. they arrived greasy and lukewarm. obviously, they had not been fried at the right temperature and had sat under the warming lights too long. we had Kung Pao Chicken and Chicken Three Ways. neither the Kung Pao or the Generals Tso chicken in the Chicken Three Ways were the least bit spicy. I really wish that restaurants would actually make spicy food when they say that something is going to be spicy. both dishes tasted good but lacked the spice needed to be four or five star dishes. overall the food was acceptable but just average and it was all served lukewarm not hot out of the wok. maybe our experience would have been better had I bragged about being a yelper but I find doing that to be gauche. we'll go back and give them another try is a couple of weeks but if they don't improve I'm afraid that they will suffer the same consequence that the last two restaurants in this building did.

It was my second visit and I like the food off their sheet of paper that you may have to ask for. Their jai zheurg mein and pork and pickled cabbage noodle soup are my favorite. Don't get the pork chop noodle soup. It is coated in something that I've never had with dish before and not good. They are also nice by Chinese standards, but it would be a lot better if when they bring out the bowl of white rice that they don't touch the rice with their hand. This has happened on both visits. And if the waiter could wait for us to put our glass down before refilling it versus pretty much taking it out of our hands when we're literally drinking out of the cup to refill it, they may have gotten another star.

I've been going to Wu's for almost 25 years now, since the first opened in Lake Oswego (that location is now closed). They know me by name there as we come in at least once a week and have been for years. The Wu's location in Lake Oswego was closed down because their lease was up and the landlord wanted an astronomical amount for rent with a new lease. Whole Foods move in and kicked them out of their Scholls Ferry / Tigard location, so they found this place in Beaverton and recently opened it up. If you've been to Wu's Open Kitchen before then I needn't say anymore since this is the same cooks, same people, and same food. If you haven't been to Wu's before you're missing out because this is THE BEST CHINESE FOOD IN THE NORTHWEST, PERIOD! Everything on the menu is great, but if you want a real treat try the Sesame Chicken, General Tsos Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken, and several others. I'll say it again, this is honest to goodness the best Chinese food you'll find in the entire NW! Try it out, you will NOT be disappointed!

I don't know who posts such positive reviews, but I cannot. The good: seated promptly, excellent hot & sour soup, and hot tea. The bad: We ordered sesame chicken and sesame shrimp. Per other reviews I specifically asked for "medium heat" on the chicken. The sauce was good but both plates were swimming in the sauce---especially the shrimp. There were very few shrimp pieces on the plate. Had to ask to verify it really was shrimp. And I literally mean they were shrimp PIECES. I ordered some pork fried rice and BBQ pork to go to reheat for dinner. Bland, bland, blah! Very disappointed since this place is only 5 minutes from my work I was hoping I would want to return often. I will not be returning anytime soon---and maybe never again.

Greasy Chinese food, not quite sure where the "spice" is, service is curt and not very welcoming, and fortune cookies that have been handled by many hands before they came to our table (they aren't wrapped). That grand opening sign will soon be a grand closing.

We had three items from take-out. The service was quick and friendly, and the portion sizes were decent, fair - but not generous. I'd like to say the food was OK but it was actually not good at all. The wonton soup was begging for flavor, it had zero - not even saltiness... tasted like old water. I'm sorry, but it's true. The dishes we ordered, spicy eggplant and broccoli beef were very greasy and low flavor. Maybe we went on a down day, but it was a great disappointment nonetheless.

Finally found a good, consistent Chinese place great for takeaway or dine-in in the Beaverton area, that's not in a grubby hole-in-the-wall strip mall. Easy to find, across street from Fred Meyer, large, clean, relaxing restaurant if you eat in. Take-out is always quick - called and picked up one order in less than 15 minutes; walked in and ordered and had our food ready in less than 10. Friendly staff and good prices too. If you are looking for that reliable, standard by still yummy and reasonably priced Chinese place in the western 'burbs, then give Wu's a try.

I used to go to the one they had in Tualatin, something about the cooks that is different. I loved the taste and i went not too long ago to the new beaverton location and the prices went up as well as the food portions. The taste was different than the Tualatin location...now it is a bit less tasteful.

There is no better Chinese in Oregon (Hunan and Szechuan)! I've eaten Chinese in 28 countries, hundreds of times in China, and Chef Wu is a Master Chef. I first started eating at Wu's 25 years ago in Lake Oswego and have continued to follow him as he moved to Tigard and Beaverton. I continue to try other local Chinese ... very rarely ... and am always disappointed; Wu's Kitchen is the REAL THING!

This was my first experience at this restaurant. The hostess was welcoming and peppy when we arrived. We were waited on promptly by the staff. When ordering we asked if they served Combination Chow Fun as we could not find it on the menu. The waiter said it was in the menu you as he thumbed through and pointed to the 10 combination ingredient and underlined the item. We assumed he knew what he was talking about and asked again to have combination chow fun with shrimp, chicken, and beef and he said "that was something they could do". We also order one of the chef's special General Tao Chicken. To our surprise the food came out quickly, maybe too quick. The Chow Fun we had ordered came out as combination fried rice but without the beef. The chicken tasted a few days old. The General Tao Chicken is general a spicier dish, however, this had no spicy whatsoever even when eating when eating a red chili pepper. Both dishes came out warm but not hot off a frying pan. The portions seemed more like lunch size portions with dinner prices. Needless to say we will not be coming back.

I've been searching all over sw portland/beaverton/Tigard/Lake Oswego, to no end, for a good Chinese food restaurant. And I mean good, as in good food, good price, good service. This Place exceeded them all! Soo happy, I will be back a million times!

I'm a fan of the "thicker" style potstickers and these fit the bill however they did need some extra salt so I added soy to them and the potsticker dipping sauce. The pork fried rice was delicioius and the cashew chicken was quite good. I'll be back for sure!

I have not traveled to China, but I have lived in the San Francisco bay area. And I would like to say that Wu's is one off the best. The food is fresh, nicely presented, good ambiance, and very nice staff. Great improvement from the buffet that was there before.

Living in Portland for years I've found almost no Chinese food that I enjoy I come from eugene and have a place called Kowloon and nothing up here even compares, it's been a huge disappointment ... I moved out to beaverton several months ago and shortly after this place opened up. Needless to say it is my oasis it is the only Chinese food I will eat and suggest everyone try it!

Went and tried Wu's last week, day after X-mas. The food was average at best - not very authentic. It has an american spin to it compared the the authentic Szechuan style restaurants. The previous establishment "Best of Szechuan" who occupied the space had better quality food. Service was friendly and nice. Also, the dinner portions were quite small - appears like lunch sizes (on 11 in. oval platters). Price is probably lower than most of the peer places in Beaverton but it would be worth it to pay a little more for better quality. Taste of Sichuan, which is fairly spendy, is still the place to beat in Beaverton. They are always packed every night.

Great food. Great customer service. Great atmosphere. We came here to try it out because their restaurant caught our attention. Huge castle like structure. Gotta love their cocktail menu. Just the right amount of alcohol. Can't beat their prices as well.

4/15, OK, last time I set foot in this place. You can tell they are spiraling down, every time I go there are fewer and fewer people there. Today I met a friend for lunch and it is the last time I will eat here. There were no more than 8 people in the entire place at 12:00. My Cashew Shrimp arrived lukewarm and there were in fact very few Cashews. The thing that was making me feel ill is the overwhelming smell of air freshener, which makes me wonder exactly what are they trying to cover up. On the way to the bathroom I noticed a plug in thingie and it reeked of what smelled like apple cinnamon. GROSS. That super strong smell just made me ill. The occasional whiff of cigarette smoke also killed my appetite. Dunzo!

My family has been going to Wu's various locations for 15 years - we've done birthday get togethers both at the old Tigard location and now that they have moved right down the street we find ourselves going more frequently to his Aloha location. It's opposite Freddys behind McDonalds and a strip mall that seems to lose another business every month. I would give Wu's a 5 star review for the quality of their food, but the dinginess of the restrooms-at least the woman's restroom knocks it down 2 stars. It's that bad si"m sorry to say. I love their food-especially the green beans which are lightly stir fried and seasoned to your preference-we usually get an order of pretty hot and one of milder for our big get togethers. Day before yesterday I went to lunch there with my sis, who enjoyed Wu's Lake Grove location for years and was really pleased to find it out here in the wilds of Beaverton. Wu's suffers from being located in an out of the way spot-in a monstrous venue that was overbuilt from the start. I believe 5 different Chinese Buffets, Mongolian BBQ's and sushi joints have failed here. The place is big and cold and thats too bad as Wu's food is wonderful and well worth going out of your way for. The waitress was the same lovely woman who had served us for years in Tigard and service is very good. A nice hot black tea is brought to the table immediately after seating and there's no rush to order-we took out time with our meal and never felt hurried. Of course it helped that we were the first people in for lunch but it wasn't a big crowd at all when we left about 90 minutes later. Food was fast in coming and sis and I got green beans with chicken and asparagus with chicken, rice and a lovely hot tea with pot stickers (truly yummy pot stickers)-we're boring I guess, but we know what we like! The down point, sadly, is that this place really needs a back area freshening up. The woman's restroom was, frankly, stinky, looked dirty and things like the toilet plunger were sitting out in the stall, along with other cleaning materials. The paint is dingy and the floor just looks like it needs to be re-done. Tile grout is very dirty. Even the hallway to the restrooms looks dirty-it simply needs to be cleaned and maybe repainted something other than the dingy off white that it is. Air freshener doesn't cover the lack of cleanliness and really overwhelms the scent of the great food. I agree with other reviewers about the difficulty of making such a large space into a cozy restaurant but the use of screens and more decor might be helpful. The entry is welcoming and pleasant, there are chairs for waiting for take out-I can't believe there will ever be a line for tables as this location is huge! I do love the food here-some of the best Chinese I've had. Servings are large enough to have left overs and I had my green beans and rice for lunch the next day. They warm up well. Thats always nice! They do have a full bar with typical hard liquor selections as well as several Chinese beers in the bottle. This is an excellent venue for big family gatherings or business lunches-there are several large seating areas aside from the 4 tops that run down the length of the restaurant in 4 rows divided by 2 half walls. I really hope the Wu's folks spend a bit of money freshening up the back hallways and for pets sake, get someone in to do a deep clean on the bathroom - ASAP!!

Wooooah Wu's. I am deducting a couple stars. I dont want to. But. Ok. I know it was Christmas night and maybe they were unprepared for the onslaught of takeout and eat in diners. This was just not a good experience. I called in food at 5:15 and was advised to pick it up in 30 minutes. At 5:45 I arrived to discover a milling throng of 20 or so people ( people picking up takeout, people with reservations, people wanting to order takeout, and people wanting to be seated). A poor discombobulated older lady was answering the phone, greeting people, and trying to match random tickets to bags of takeout ( squinting at them unsuccessfully) while another lady scurried around seating people and bussing tables (hostesses should not bus tables). After watching this for fifteen minutes, including observing one poor hungry man leave with no food after waiting for a long time for takeout that was apparently never prepared and he wasnt offered any apology or reparations, I suggested they call people's names for the food they did have ( 5-6 bags) and that did clear out some people. Eventually a younger woman came and replaced the frantic woman and some order arose from the chaos. She wondered aloud why orders did not have phone numbers on the tickets, responses from the crowd indicated only about half the people had been asked for a number. A bag of food for "Jason" sat there the whole time and was never retrieved. I received my bag of food at 6:30. It was not hot and I have no doubt it was sitting in the kitchen for a while. I got it home, and there was no rice in the bag with three entrees ordered. I'm not sure if I was supposed to order it separately or not but that was sad. The wonton (fake crab and creamed cheese) were not crispy any more ( their carton was closed up which causes that), the orange beef was pasty and not orangey ( strangely loaded with dried chiles and not spicy), the sweet and sour was kinda tasteless and I wanted to salt it ( who salts Chinese food?), and the eggplant, well I dont like garlic eggplant without rice so its still sitting in my fridge...its probably ok. But I dont know. My daughter said her eggflower soup was ok. Not awesome. The next night I got rice, crab rangoon, and angus beef from Panda Express. I was going to eat more of the Wu's food. But in the end I decided not to. The Panda food was fresher, hotter, and more flavorful. We ate that. Wu's, I was so happy to have a new takeout option. But the food has to be good, hot when people get it, and you need a system up front. Hostess shows people to tables. Somone else answers phone. Someone else runs food from kitchen. None of those people bus tables. There should be a wait list so people are seated in the order they arrived. Names and numbers on all tickets. Apologies to people who's orders were messed up. Im not done trying but this was kinda not good. Oh Wu's.Fix it. Please??

I've been sitting on this review for weeks. It's one of those experiences that was simultaneously outstanding and really, really bad. I *want* to love Wu's, but they make it so god damn easy NOT to, which is tragic and unfortunate. So my review will boil down to one word: inconsistent. I'd never set foot in the building before, previous occupant or not. I knew it was there, I knew what it was, and I know that buffets are definitely not my thing. Once I'd realized that Wu's had relocated (?) to the space my wife and I agreed that we'd like to try it out. FWIW, we'd visited one of their other locations, and were reasonably impressed. A co-worker's family are long time Wu's patrons, and he warned me that the service will be "weird" and the food will be greasy. Both of those proved to be true. The building itself is... well I ultimately didn't like it. The cash wrap is fine, as is the entrance. The main dining room is just unusual. Dining tables are in the center, and booths line the walls. There's room beyond those walls, though, and I wish I woulda taken a peek behind them, but it just gave me a sense of space that didn't improve anything in the way of an intimate dining experience. That, combined with the absolutely cavernous ceiling just didn't really meet my tastes. An older gal sat us at the table. She was pleasant, and came to visit us for drinks (or so we thought) later. She asked us if we wanted drinks, I ordered, and my wife began ordering, and she suddenly dropped the ticket and pen on the table, not wholly unlike "dropping the mic" after a song for emphasis. We just looked at each other and asked "wtf just happened, and why did she pull a 2 Chainz on us?" Suddenly older fella appears, and took our order for food. Not a few minutes after that he brought our drinks, and she somehow used ESP to extract my wife's alcoholic wishes out of her brain, because the correct drink arrived. Fuck, I don't know, it was weird and rushed and speedy like this sentence. Food ordered: large hot and sour soup (to split), pot stickers, General Tso's and hell, I can't remember what vegan wife got. Something with veggies and noodles. Instead of the single large hot and sour, he brought me an individual and my wife a single *egg flower* soup. Nope, not even close. To his credit he corrected it instantly, but it left me wondering if I ordered incorrectly... ? Whatever. Still contributing to weirdness. Hot and sour soup: Hot. Spicy. Good! 4 stars. Pot stickers: *spectacular*. AMAZING, even. Thick, substantial and flavorful, like nothing I've ever had. I was blown away. General Tso's: Not bad. Definitely greasy, like my co-worker had predicted. Unique, and not heavily breaded, so I appreciated that. Older guy warmed up as the evening went on, and packed our leftovers with flair and consistency. He was funny and charming, despite being rather stoic to begin with. All I can muster is 3 stars, Wu's, for the aforementioned inconsistency. I'll be back, but you've been around so long I doubt anything will be radically different.

No better than any other Chinese restaurant. But I noticed they are expensive if you go after the lunch. They don't have the traditional combos. Avoid and go to panda.

Delicious food (extra spicy if requested). The price was also great, and the standard entree comes with a bowl of soup and rice. The service was also wonderful, the staff member even packed up my left overs for me. Definitely will be returning for more!!

I ordered take out to share with some friends and all of us agreed that the dishes looked and tasted very similar. The sauces and vegetables used in the dishes were also the same. Usually the dishes I ordered should have been quite different. Food was on the oily side too so I don't plan on ordering from them again. A10. DUMPLING IN HOT OIL ($4.95) : This dish is supposed to be wontons mixed in hot sauce. Wonton skins were too thick and there was an odd peanut sauce flavor. B4 . HUNAN BEEF ($10.95) : Completely not spicy when it should be. If you aren't expecting any spice then it was an okay dish. C9 . MA-LA CHICKEN ($10.50) : Looked exactly like the Hunan beef dish with just the meat swapped out. I was really disappointed that there was absolutely no numbing ma-la flavor. S5 . PRAWNS WITH MIXED VEGETABLE ($12.95) : Sauce tasted the same as in B4 and C9. Prawns were bigger than I expected which was a nice surprise. V2 . SAUTÉED STRING BEAN ($9.75) : My favorite dish but had a layer of oil at the bottom. V7 . BEAN CURD SZECHUAN STYLE ($9.95) : Okay tasting tofu cubes in the restaurant's standard brown sauce.

I was hoping for some tasty Schezwan themed food here but it's not that so much. While they were nice and I liked the spacious clean atmosphere overall the food was just so-so. I feel bad because they are nice folks and do care about the experience but I just wasn't that impressed. Then again maybe stay away from the Schezwan style stuff and it might be good, for sure I have had far worse in Portland as the Chinese food scene here sucks.

My wife took me here as a surprise to try it out. We'd been to this location before when it was a different Chinese restaurant and really liked it then and was saddened when they closed. Anyway, the décor is basically the same, it's a hugely tall ceilinged dining room. Really doesn't have anything to do with what you get, but the feeling is more conference room than restaurant. Piano bar type music was playing over the speaker system. OK, but not what I'd expect when going to a Chinese restaurant. On to the food, the reason for coming. We only ordered a couple of things (it's way too easy to over eat at most Chinese places). First impressions, looked good, but smaller plates and looked like portions were a bit smaller than I usually expect to see from Chinese. The Lo Mein noodles, looked decent, but seemed a bit bland. That's really the only way I can describe them, seemed like something was missing, but really can't tell you what. The BBQ Pork Fried Rice, looked pretty good, (a bit on the dark side, probably from the soy sauce). Flavor wise, pretty good. However, you can definitely tell that they used a ton of oil in the making of this dish. It wasn't greasy per se, but still plenty of oil used. The onions in the rice were just a little strong in their flavor, not bad, but noticeable. The tea that comes with dinner was what you find at some Chinese places, just a bit of that bitter aftertaste. Hard to say if I'd be back. Not terrible and worth giving another shot if I'm nearby, but not awesome enough for me to make it a regular stop.
