Tad bit expensive but great coffee. I go often.

It's better than most Starbucks, with that said this Peet's is more for getting a cup of coffee than hanging out and studying. Coffee is dark and bold, which I like. The food is the basic franchise prepackaged food. Eatable but nothing rememberable. The crowd is older, might be because of the senior citizen housing across the street. What is nice is Peet's plays classical music that isn't distracting unlike the rock at Starbucks. The down side is the place is crowded and the seats are uncomfortable but I think that is by design. I wish I can say I'm a fan but having to get a code to access the wifi is a bit of a pain plus the seats being uncomfortable. With those two strikes agains them they get a 3 star rating.

I had never been to a Peet's, but am a big fan of tea and thought I would give it a try. The workers there were very friendly and patient and gave me a great recommendations on some loose teas. Both cups of tea I had were delicious and very well priced! Very subtle and warm flavors. I had two cups while enjoying the sunshine and reading my book outside. I can't wait to go back again and again this summer to enjoy my afternoons with a warm cup of tea!

We love hillsboro peets location. the coffee is amazing as is the staff. our only complaint is that they don't offer any kind of a punch card, or incentive for those of us who frequent on a daily basis and who purchase and drink our daily cup of java here. bummer!

I'm so glad a legitimately great coffee shop (chain) opened in the area. I typically resort to withdrawal from coffee as I visit Portland from college in Seattle because here, no coffee is better than Starbucks. I go here every chance I get due to the great location around Streets of Tanasbourne, 185th, and Whole Foods! The people are super friendly and nice. The iced vanilla lattes are superb and my sister is a big fan of their version of the frap. I just wish they would open up a few more locations in Beaverton or Tigard!

All I need to say is that if I have to live in the burbs, at least I have Peet's.

    Decent Coffee traditional coffee house

Yay Peet's! Thank goodness you have a location here as I am not a fan of Starbucks. I visit this location at least a couple times a week. The staff is always super friendly and pretty much know me by name now. The coffee is always great no matter what you order. My Faves: Their latte's, cappucinos, and brewed coffee. I'm pretty sure I've tried just about everything on the menu though and have never had a bad drink. The prices are better than Starbucks too. PROS: Great coffee, great staff, within walking distance to my home, and free wi-fi (if you buy a drink....) CONS: Nothing really. Sometimes it can get a bit crowded and seating options are nill, but they have outdoor seating too! To use wi-fi you have to buy a drink and ask for a code. Hmph. No huge biggy, but it only lasts an hour.

Points for making a chain location feel decidedly non-corporatized. While waiting for my caramel latte - which is awesome by the way, smooth and not overly sweet - I was noticing the great selection of coffees and teas, and the lack of branded cups and such. Nice. No crappy music with the CD on sale at the register, no pithy quotes in obnoxious pink chalk, no ridiculous names for drink sizes. Oh and I am probably a third of the way through my medium latte and can already feel the caffeine. If this were on my way to work I would stop in the mornings, but I can see this as a definite go-to for an afternoon pick-me-up.

Blah service. My first time and told employee this, he said "no worries," as if I was apologizing. Well I wasn't. An excellent employee he should have used this to try to sell premium coffee drinks to me. oh well. My choice of a white chocolate mocha would have tasted better at the Starbucks across the street. Come for OK coffee not for excellent customer service.

My husband drinks coffee. I do not. With most coffee shops I can find some sort of choice on something to eat and drink....but, there is almost nothing for me. And since I need to pay my way to use the WiFi? This makes it difficult. They have orange juice. That is about it for a drink. Maybe a bottled water? WiFi is super weak.....maybe the router is in the bathroom. It is so slow that I just can't go here. I wish I could. A bit on the chilly side in this place, which is not the norm at places I go. Nice looking inside, nice people, decent parking. But, I want wifi and a soda of some sort and this is not the place, unfortunately.

Summer has passed and their AC was great. Now that old man winter is here, their heating is awesome as well. They have winter blend teas. I'm still loyal to my black currant tea. It smells and taste sweet. The best part is you don't get suck into their life's drama or what their (relative- friend-family) had for breakfast yesterday and how they hate it.

  • Kal C.

Positively dooderific. And that's a good thing. You get the beans you pay for, which is more than I can say for my recent Starbucks experiences.

I received the best customer service from the manager Tina and barista Jill! Words can't express the appreciation for the level of service. I was stopped in to get tea. I shared with them that I had not seen a Pete's coffee since I lived in California. I shared with them the story of how my children's grandmother used to always buy them chocolate covered blueberries before she passed. Specifically for my son who is now 24. The ladies were so kind and gave me chocolate covered blueberries to give to my son a wonderful gesture! I called him and it made his day. Giving him fond memories of his grandmother.

Massive karma points for the barista who steered me right. I was about to order one bag and he told me the staff favorite was the Garuda blend. Fast forward to my first brew back on Maui, and it's the best cup of Peet's I have had in years. That is exceptional service to go along with Peet's exceptional brews. I'll be back to this Peet's for sure. Thank you!

It's Peet's, it's the Qdoba to Starbucks' Chipotle. Baked goods are delicious, the coffee is more than serviceable but not as flavorful as one night find in a local shop.

great place with nice tea options. Green tea latte tasted weird but I love it now !!!!

It's fall now, which means I'm once again obsessing over anything pumpkin. Lets just say, peets coffee gives the Starbucks pumpkin spice latte a run for its money. Way better in my opinion, actually I fell as if I shall only order them from peets now on. I really like how the company has both coffee and tea, and a variety of both. You can also purchase any of the tea in store. Also, in the parking lot there is a blink station to charge up the car!

Very clean, good layout, and great coffee as always from Peet's. The staff was cool too, they were not only very nice but worked about 2x the speed of the gang at my regular Peet's which was a nice surprise.

This place has a nice atmosphere and excellent service. That's their strong point. However, I usually don't come to drink.coffee . I come here to buy the whole bean garuda coffee. Very good smooth but strong coffee if that makes any sense. It's strong but not bitter. If brewed right it's awesome! The rest of this review is.based only on the coffees I have tried in the shop. I like the garuda blend. It's too bad they only offer it as a frenchpress pot. When I do order a french press it's inconsistent and sometimes they our right and some times it's pretty bad. Everyone there knows how to make a french pressed coffee, but not everyone there can make a good french press coffee. The regular coffee is on par with others in the areA. Nothing mind blowing but not bad either.Just descent tasting coffee. But I do love their fresh garuda coffee beans for brewing at home. You get a free cup of coffee when you buy the beans. On another note. This has free WiFi like most shops but.You can't use VPN on their network. If those minor things don't bother you overall it's a great place to.hang out and prefer it over star.....

First thing you should know: I love Peet's. This location is wonderful. I've visit frequently early on weekdays, with the occasional weekend and afternoon visit for good measure. The staff is wonderful, friendly, without being overly chipper and obnoxiously fake. They are knowledgeable without being pushy. They helped us pick out a coffee gift for a friend's father- great suggestions even with our vague start of information. I've had a large amount of lattes, (they now offer almond milk which doesn't always mix well with all flavors. This has nothing to do with staff talent of Peet's coffee quality, it's just almond milk being almond milk.) all have been delicious, just the right amount of hot, not overly sweet, and delicious sweet Peet's. Now I want more Peet's, so please excuse me as I go get some deliciousness in a cup.

My main problem with coffee places is that I go for the fancy drinks & what I get it amazingly over-sweetened beverages. I even try to cut down on the sugar content, but to not avail. Finally - we tried Peets since we just wanted some caffeine. I got my usual Mocha Iced Coffe - in Peets terms - the Mocha Freddo. I asked for 1/4 of the usual syrup and it came out just right for me. Not to sweet & blended enough that unlike other places I could drink the whole thing without running out of flavor. The baristas are nice & the drinks come out quick. Superior choice.

  • Jesy B.

Wow, so late to the Peets train. Their coffee is so much better than another big name brand that rhymes with TarClucks that I'd come here anyday I need a caffeine fix. For one, their lattes/fancy drinks aren't as bloody sweet so I can actually finish the darn thing. For two, I'd probably drink their coffee with minimal additives to begin with. Plus, the baristas are always super nice each and every day. Now if only they had a drive thru!

I have only been to this location once, but have been to a few other Peet's locations. The service was good, and the location is great. The coffee however, was lacking a bit. Definitely drinkable, but it left me feeling like that $5 could have been better used at another coffee shop. Something about the latte (maybe it was the soy milk) tasted a little spoiled (I'm sure it wasn't, but it wasn't pleasant tasting for sure) -- and something about the espresso or flavoring had that weird chalky cheesy taste. I keep trying to like it but I am always reminded of why I'm not a fan of Peet's -- I would return, but it wouldn't be my first choice. Or second or third.

Great customer service, great coffee and a great environment. The hours aren't good and the location is difficult to get in and out. But, I have nothing bad to say about the product or the employees. Those are awesome.

The excellent manager makes sure everybody is well taken care of- staff are guided in a calm efficient manner and coffee is always consistent and good- they remember you after a few times and well , this peet's is run smoothly and efficiently with little chaos noticeable- Keep up the good work-everybody is on their "game" here -and the coffee is consistently wonderful!!!

Went to Peet's today after a long day at work. Ordered my drink and totally spaced on adding soy milk. Right as I was paying, Tim the barista pointed out that I forgot soy. He saved the day otherwise I would of had a unpleasant evening. It sure helps to be a regular customer. Thanks again Tim for remembering the specifics of my drinks.

  • Heidi H.

Coffee is good. Service is good. Was bummed as they had a variety of breakfast bakery items but only one choice for bagel and no toasting or sandwich. I love a nice breakfast sandwich so that's the reason for a 4 star.

Peet's is my absolute favorite coffee shop in Oregon. Hands down! I wish there wasn't just one location in the Hillsboro area because it is a bit out of my way and thus I don't go often. Peet's is not just about coffee though. They have a whole wall of tea selection...a huge selection. I haven't tried their tea, though I know I should. There are so many awesome flavors to choose from...I'll have to try some next time and Yelp about it. The pastries are yummy! And Peet's has the BEST chocolate chip and pecan scone around! That and one of their mochas...Heaven! Service can be hit or miss sometimes. I have found a few semi-unfriendly baristas. But all in all the staff here is great! And the coffee makes up for any possible crabbiness.

Great coffee and great people. Bike there often. Dog friendly business...they keep a water bowl outside for thirsty canines. They are always happy to see me or is it my dog sally?

I realized as I decided to write some Yelp reviews, that I was concentrating on restaurants and wineries but that I went to Peets everyday--actually, don't tell--twice a day. I've been a fan of Peets since living in the Bay Area. The coffee quality is consistently good. The baked goods are well-made and delicious. I use Peets coffee at home--whole bean--but in the store order a typically complicated iced drink. The staff frequently have my drink done before I'm finished paying. This isn't special service, I'm not the only customer; they extend this quality of service to every customer who comes in. Perhaps they don't know your drink after 1 trip; but give it a few more tries and they will. The staff and management are friendly, engaging and knowledgeable about coffee. The baristas are obviously excited about different coffees which is a refreshing change from other stores around the country. Love my Peets iced lattes!

Always a super friendly staff and good coffee. Not really a place to sit with your laptop but a great place to sit a talk with friends

I was pleased to find this shop right near my new bus stop. It's less crowded than the Starbucks across the street and I like Peet's coffee drinks much more. Peet's, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship...

  • Paul G.

I totally wanted to like Peet's because I heard it was good......was jazzed to go there. The coffee is ok.......not great. They have pastries, which are very good....with large selection. But, no other options, like oatmeal or sandwiches. The big drawback is the poor wireless. They only provide 1 hour free internet, which in these days is ridiculous. I even have a special i-pass which allows me access to many networks. that did not work either. Bottom line: sorry, but this is a pass. The coffee is just ok and the wireless policy is poor.

I am addicted to their iced white mocha, only coffee I will pay for since going on the cheap with a home system to get my fix... Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, I will be back.

Gone are the days of Starbucks battery acid... You'll likely need GPS to figure out how to exit the parking lot, but Peets is probably the best bet for coffee in the immediate Tanasbourne area.

  • Amanda Z.

I have quickly grown to love this place, I even drive out of my way to make a stop 1-2 times a week. Their coffee and mixed drinks (mochas and lattes) are all better than...sorry starbucks which has become to commercialized even for my taste. The first time I went in I told the barrista who I think is a manager as well (Shiloh) what I was in the mood for and what I was sick of. She surprised me and made me a delicious drink. She doesn't know my name yet like Joyce, but probably will soon. My only down about this place is the pricing, I was hoping it would be cheaper than Starbucks, but it's about the same:/ I just don't really get why espresso and milk are so expensive...but o well it's a good place.

  • Clarkitty C.

I love this coffee house. I drink coffee about a half dozen times per year or so. So when I want a full flavored coffee drink with some kick then this is where I end up. The service is great, the prices are average, and the coffee is better than any other places I have tried including Dutch Bros, Starbucks, and many others. Coffee People used to be my go-to, but now they are gone.

I've been trying to find a regular coffee shop to visit, meet with clients and occasionally work from. This place limits the wifi usage to one hour and their chai is watered down and boring. Very disappointed and won't be back to this location for sure, and will likely avoid any Peet's Coffee Places.

    (1)
  • Reid J.

Great coffee and service. One of the few places to offer actual service.

Love this place. Prices are a bit more reasonable then starbucks and the staff is much more friendly.

I'm as anti-Starbucks, evil empire as the next guy. I've been trying to go this Peet's for the past month only to be continually disappointed. The coffee itself is good. The staff is nice but always seem to be apologizing. I stood in line for like 5 minutes with only one person ahead of me because the person couldn't figure out how to ring up ground coffee? One time the guy didn't even know how to ring my drink up. They even miss my all important Soy for my soy mocha as in they didn't have any. Now today what used to be a 15 cent surcharge for soy is now 50 cents. So what I'm paying $3.85 at Starbucks I'm now paying $4 for at Peet's. So now not only is my day slowed from the always new people working the counter...I'm paying more for it?

I am IN LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE with Peet's Medium Triple Iced Carmel Latte. Prefect blend of icey coolness and caramel! The staff is fun and always make that drink to utter perfectioooooon! Its my new favorite, I'm in LOOOOOOVE!

I am one of Peet's biggest fans. I have been watching the new Peet's being constructed, adjacent to the new Whole Foods on Cornell and across the street from its nemesis Starbucks. Upon opening, I immediately rerouted my morning coffee run to Peet's. The store is small and the interior is fairly basic. Smallish seating area, there are 4 or 5 tables. The one day they had a small rush the line immediately had to string out the door. Oh and they don't have newspapers (yet?). The coffee. The reason I love Peet's is they pull their own shots, steam their own milk ... the whole real barista routine. So far, 1 of 5 days has met my expectations of what I know to be Peet's standards for an espresso drink. The rest weren't awful, just not up to snuff. Far too Starbucks like. Where is that amazing foam that is more like cream? So far it has either been airy (shudder) or watery (yuck). Once it was the PERFECT Peet's topping that I dream about when I dream about coffee...rich, creamy, thick, with that caramel colored glaze in the swirl of espresso peeking through. Oh, I order my drinks extra hot to travel well, this too has been inconsistent...one gal asked me how hot was hot? ummm...extra as in more than normal. I left my coffee thermometer at home. Access is pretty easy, their competitor across the street has drive-thru ... but once Peet's hits their groove, I just don't see how drive-thru would fit into their handcrafted format. Three stars until they get their stuff together more. Looking forward to it. They are getting their staff acclimated, a couple of them now recognize me by name which is kinda cool. They should consider bringing in some baristas from their existing stores to show'em how its really done ... Peet's style. After all, it IS all about the coffee. *EDITED on 3/21/08 to add a 4th star. The store is coming in to its own. Much more consistent on their coffee drinks. More baristas have been added and they are dealing with they growing clientele more efficiently. They now recognize customers by name. The other day I was in and asked for a specially made drink, a "Mexican" mocha (vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon). Very graciously made it and it was delicious. Still a couple of details missing ... no savory pastries and the pastries are all super big ... add a few smaller versions for those of us that don't want the whole day's caloric allotment before 9am. And get some newspapers on sale in the store ... I like the NY Times with my coffee.

There ain't much decent coffee east of 217 but Pete's is pretty darn good. Plus I'm fairly certain they only use Fair Trade coffee which is extraordinarily important to me. Their tea is also very good, which is rare in America. Could be a little bit more roomy though and a few couches and such would be nice. Food selection is decent. And it's not Starbucks (sorry, I'm not a lover of monopolies with sub-par products, esp. when they've helped destroy some of the only decent shops in the Beaverton/Hillsboro area--though legally they'd never get nailed for it even though it's obvious to anyone with two brain cells). I'd give it five stars except for the lack of comfortable furniture/seating and the fact that it's not in the most convenient place, esp. when it comes to getting out of the parking lot.
