Tough call, I feel like 3 stars doesn't cut it and 4 stars is a little too close to 5 stars. But if you haven't been to Malones in a while you'll find yourself pleasantly surprised at its present day experience. I've been a patron and an on-and-off regular for several years now. Malones today is still a dive bar, but has more of a toned down, mellow almost sports bar vibe. Under new ownership for about a year now, you'll find a clean, friendly bar/cafe with a better than average menu, good prices, 3 pool tables, video poker, and most of all a great staff. You wouldn't take a first date here, or want a guy that would take you here on a first date. But you will find that the early evening crowd is usually comprised of laid back couples of all ages just looking for a place to relax, maybe grab a bite, and enjoy a beverage or two. Malones is a great place for a weeknight happy hour, where you can eat pretty decent food and enjoy a drink/beer for under $10. It can also get pretty roaring on a Friday or Saturday night, you'll find the average age in the crowd pretty close to 21 so... know that going in. There are very capable bouncers though, and ask for no money (no cover charge!). Karaoke is back and has its own room. The pool tables are well taken care of but the selection of sticks is pretty bad. On average there are about 2-3 good sticks out of the whole rack. If you enjoy a smoke break in between games you'll find one of the few bars around that offers a covered, dry outdoor smoking section. For non smokers this can be a drag in the summer if they're wanting to enjoy the outdoor seating. One thing that makes Malones somewhat unique is their menu. You can get all the regular, greasy bar food you'd expect at the best of dive bars, but also choose between a few different healthy, fresh salads. And... No problem customizing one. Same goes for pizza. There's a great selection of incredibly legit pies but you can also "build your own", and it's made with home made dough and sauces. The same dough is also used for the fresh bread that makes a decent selection of sandwiches. And if you're looking for breakfast on the weekends, particularly if you're wanting "comfort food", remember two words: breakfast burrito. Last but not least Malones has an awesome staff. These aren't burned out grumpy people working a 2nd job they hate, but seasoned bartenders and servers that take really good care of you, especially if you take care of them. Most have been there for years, demonstrating they must like what they do at least some, and the heritage gives the place a "cheers" kind of feel. Ironically the bar was actually named after Sam Malone from the TV show. So whether you're returning after not having been in a while, or checking it out for the first time, rest assured you're probably going to find just what you're looking for. You might even find that it's an easy place to become a regular, and before you know it one day... everyone knows your name.

I had the worst experience here. I will never go back! Bartender was rude. She pushed me!! Stay away!!

First off my mother is a bartender so I have a soft spot for most people who work behind a bar. Second I work in the service industry. I wanted to come in here and kill sometime while waiting for someone thinking it was a good idea. The bartender was extremely rude to me from the beginning. She hates her job and it shows. I drank one beer and left because of the uncomfortable environment. I felt as if she hated me sitting at her bar. This was the first time I have ever stiffed ANYONE! Sorry to bitch on yelp but she was really awful, although I'm sure they have plenty of other great servers and bartenders but she isn't one of them.

Great dive bar, clean and nice drinks. Food is better than expected and priced well for the quality. A great place to people watch, more of an urban crowd, which is so refreshing for the burbs!

Malones bar and Grill is what I think of when I think local neighborhood bar. The bartender is great the food is good and the atmosphere is awesome. A great place to meet after work with your friends to watch a game or play some pool.

Only had beer at the dive bar. Great selection of beers on tap and cheap too. Nice place to hang out and grab a few drinks. Good entertainment have pool tables and darts. Your good old regular bar food here. Nothing fancy. Great place to hang out and chill.

A good divey, great character bar in a little stripmall----here, way before the Murray Scholls ginormous development. A little surprised, their microbrew was 4.25/pint at 5pm, most places have a happy hour----3 -ish or 4 max. I didn't inquire about happy hour pricing. Food basic, legit. Haven't eaten here in ages. Saw some offerings next to me. In baskets, so, pretty casual. They had a group gathering in a separate room and a whole lot of unused space---with a big screen TV. I know they get busier later. Useta have a good breakfast. A nice neighborhood option. Not trendy or new, which is a good thing.

I went here once for drinks only and I decided I would never go back . The bartenders were rude. I decided to give it another try last night because I live near by again I was let down. The bartenders are very rude and act like they hate their jobs. I'm not asking for much but The two girls that were their last night were even worse that the guy who was bartending last time I went. We had one drink and left. It's a shame because I want a fun neighborhood bar that I can walk to. I won't be going back. Haven't tried the food but I honestly don't care to.

Malones has improved over the years. It's your typical bar that offers drinks, pool and a good time. The drinks are reasonable, the service is good and you can play some fun games. There is even slot machines where you can gamble. Don't look past Malones for a good evening.

I've never had to wait more than 2 minutes to get my drink order in and filled. It's not gourmet food, it's hangout food that tastes good and doesn't burn a hole in your pocket. They don't skimp on the alcohol. I can still walk out with 4 hard hard drinks between me and my husband for under 30$. The atmosphere is perfect where you can hear the music but you don't have to shout. The skittle drink is my favorite, please try it. We will continue to go back.

Another place to "get in trouble" so.. stopped here after the Tigardville station and had dinner. We had originally planned for Benihana's but never got that far. We thought why not some greasy bar food? I had the toquitos.. which are exactly what you buy at the store, I think the guy burned them though. I took a few pictures of what we had. DH had a meat sandwich of some kind which looked kinna gross to me but he said it was good. I was almost sure we were going to regret that too. I try to stay away from the nasty bar food, but it was late and we always make the mistake of not eating and too much drinking. You really need to eat when you're in here downing the booze. I almost forgot we stopped here. Sometimes I have to go though my quick tips so I know where I checked in at. I always have yelp to help me remember why I have an aching head this morning.. lol. I at the very least can remember to check in!! Overall a great place, they have pool here as well and a nice open area. There is always someone different at the bar when I come in. Don't think I've ever seen the same bartender twice. It is most enjoyable sitting here and having a few. It's a strip mall in the very back. Convenient to the ATM if you must take out money. They have a bank next door- which is my bank!! But yea stop in here if you're in this area.

I live nearby and regularly get food and drinks here. Staff is friendly and attentive and the food is good. Typically I come here for breakfast and bloody Mary's and I'm never disappointed. It's a great greasy bar food breakfast and I love it. The fried pizza dough in the morning is also good. Would recommend if you like dive bars.

Came on a busy night and our waitress was great! Even bought my friends and I a round of jello shots since we left a good tip. Fun night. Music was okay, but it's an average bar so I wasn't expecting much. It attracts an odd crowd that I wasn't expecting---a little trashy even, but a bar is a bar when you're looking to get drunk, and we had a good time!

Darts, free pool (at least during the week I'm not sure about weekends), crowd is 20-30yrs old, and the food is cheap! During the week there aren't many people and they all seem pretty chill. Dress is casual. It's not super classy, but I'd recommend it if you feel like just having fun with a few friends at a chill spot during the week.

Walked in with friends ready to spend good money. Sat at a booth for several minutes and no one said a single word to us. Went up to the bar to order and the bartender made us wait while he was chatting with someone..Then when he finally came to take our order, was really curt and borderline rude. We wound up canceling our orders and going somewhere else to spend our money on a fun night. Too bad because I live in the neighborhood and would have loved a local dive bar to be a regular at.

Somehow, every time I go to Portland, I end up at Malone's. Could it be because the bartender once poured me a mini pitcher of Guinness? Could it be because they make me fried pickles there even though they are not on the menu? Could it be because they have the Sweet Escape and lots of AC/DC on the jukebox? Could it be because they have karaoke every Thurs - Sun? Maybe. Or could it be because many of my Oregon friends live within a quarter mile of Malone's? Probably.

This is my neighborhood bar, so I really want to love it. I know that if I were 10 years younger I'd be here every night, but the crowd is just a bit too young for me now. Still a good place to stop for a happy hour beer on my way home, but I try to duck out before the 20-somethings take over. Bartenders are friendly, and have been known to let me switch the big screen tv to the Packers game if nobody else is watching. Food is average bar food. Not bad, but not stellar. If you live in the neighborhood, its worth checking out, but don't go out of your way to get here.

Malones, Is a great Bar in Murray Hill. Upscale part of Beaverton. Lots of Rich kids from Nike and Intel hang out there. I love the place. However, Heather is the worst server in the world. She was on her phone when I need to get extra sauce and did not do a great job. Josh, David, Shawn and Tyler are good guys.

This place was great! Went on a lunch break with my co-workers. The food was cheap and delicious. We got 3 burgers, a pizza, a calzone, and fries and onion rings. The pizza options were exciting and delicious. I got a chicken pesto pizza. The buns for the burgers were made in house and they were delicious. The price was totally reasonable. I got a personal pizza for $9.00 and half of it was plenty. The simple menu makes ordering easy. This place was awesome.

Take a pass... I was just looking for a nice place to have a burger and a beer. Ended up ordering the "Chicken Malone Burger" which was supposed to be chicken, ham and swiss on a bun. It came wiht a tiny piece of chicken on a cold dry bun and the cheese wasn't melted. Took it back in so ask where the ham was... they said they were out of ham. But didn't tell me that before I ordered it. But, Okay.... I'll try it without the ham cuz I'm hungry and the beer is calling my name. Just asked to please melt the cheese. Sandwich comes back with burnt chicken and melted cheese and bun falling apart. WTH Malones? Do you really think that's okay to serve??? Where's your pride MAN???!

This is an occasional watering hole on the weekends, but more so because some friends like to go there and it's on the way home. The setting is decent, bartenders are friendly and know their stuff. The food is iffy, and the bouncer is far from friendly, and can't remember faces The location is usually packed with young 20somethings. They do have karaoke, but it is in a side room and does not dominate the bar.

Skip it for lunch! My friend used to go here for lunch a few years ago and recommended it. I tried it - the waitress was a downer - could hardly get a smile or kind word out of her. I think I understand why! They messed up almost everything about our order they could - my guest ordered rare and they cooked medium well. I said no onions - and they put them on. My guest asked for extra onions and only got a few. They did bring more upon his prompting. They made a "Caesar Salad" that was NOT a Caesar Salad - no Romaine - and it had black olives in it! It didn't taste anything like a Caesar Salad. My guest's Mirror Pond beer was very foggy and they did give him the beer free, but come on!!! Someone greeted us as we were departing - almost as though he didn't believe the waitress' feedback. He asked us if we liked the homemade bread - they bake fresh every day. It was not special. We will NOT be going back. PLUS - to my friend who recommended this place - they don't have the old blue plate specials they used to have - like meatloaf and mashed potatoes for lunch. This is just another run of the mill pub - almost empty at lunch and now we know why. If you want a fun pub experience - head over to Buddie's Sports Bar at 185th and Farmington - much better experience - good food, happy waitresses, nice bar tender and fun atmosphere!

Great place to hang if you don't want to go downtown but want a cool crowd to hang out with.

this place is so generic i can't even think of any good adjectives to use in this review. just like 99% of the bars in anywhere, u.s.a., it's pretty boring. pool table, check. steroid-addled bouncer, check. smoky, check. mediocre service and food, check. overall, a waste of time and $$.
