I was excited to hear that Dickey's had opened up in Beaverton, so I made a trip across town on my first day off so I could check them out. Let me get straight to things: Pulled pork - it was okay, nothing special Brisket - I asked for sliced, got shredded, and was not impressed with flavor Ribs - overcooked, cold, clearly from a day or two ago. BBQ Beans - Best part of the plate Mac n Cheese - pasta was so cooked it was mushy, overall flavorless Roll - over proofed and did not arrive until I was done Sauces are kept hot, while they tasted ok, they were like the pork, nothing special. Everything is kept wrapped in plastic and in a steam cabinet, and there was not a hint of smoke in the air. Overall, I was not impressed, and this was even after I took into consideration it is a chain BBQ place. There are FAR better BBQ places in town.

Omg!!! This place is amazing! I love the pulled pork and beef! Melts in your mouth, it's so tender! The Mac n cheese is pretty good too but we strictly go there for the meat!

The food was fantastic and the staff is awesome! We visited to discuss catering and the owner took time to sit down and go over all the menu options and we got to taste EVERYTHING! It was all amazing. We had such a hard time picking only the number of items we needed. My personal favorites were the brisket, pulled pork, baked beans, and the potato casserole. I noticed they have a daily deal (different each day of the week) for $8.99 and each one comes with waaaaay more food than I could eat by myself. Crazy price for that much BBQ. I highly recommend visiting! These guys are awesome and if your on the east side, it's worth the drive.

The ribs fall right off the bone. My daughter ate almost a whole plate by herself. It was definitely a hit with us. We'll be back.

This grub is good! Opting for the gallon tea gives you more bang for your buck, too!

I love BBQ and I was really excited that this place was opening near my house. We decided to try it last night and I really wanted to love it but it was disappointing. First, the place is very small, 6 tables? You walk in and order your meat with one person, sides with another then pay with someone else, like you're in school in the cafeteria line. The guy that greeted us was very polite, gave us a sample of the brisket, pretty dry. I ordered the special of the pulled pork sandwich with two sides and a drink for 8.99. They were out of the pulled pork so he offered to do the brisket instead, fine; thankfully it came with BBQ sauce. I went to order my sides and they were out of everything I wanted, mac and cheese, coleslaw, wasn't very happy since it was busy and was dinner time, they should be better prepared. They were also out of sweet tea, she said it was sweet tea but it tasted like plain tea to me, offered to make some fresh but was going to be another 10 mins. Food was okay, fries weren't anything special, sandwich was boring and dry but the beans were actually pretty good. Overall wasn't great, will try it again to see if things improve, but was pretty disappointed.

I really enjoy this place, when I dine in. Some reason is not as good if you get it To-go. I see this place as the KFC of BBQ. The sides are very similar and the set up is your main meat and choose your sides. Soft serve machine for free cone. I saw a guy making a root beer float. Genius! I docked a star for the bread. It's doughy. It's as if it's over proofed and under baked. The guy is really cool, making service great. It's a nice lunch stop if your don't want the same ol lunch.

This place was alright. If you've been to Famous Dave's I recommend that place over this place. The ribs were a but salty with a lot of fat on the bone. The bbq sauce was good though. You can't expect too much from a fast food bbq joint. I did enjoy the Western sandwich with turkey breast and pulled pork. They have and ice cream machine and it's free everyday. Not a bad perk. I would come back just to try the other menu items. They have specials of the day as well.

I was so excited to see a Dickeys had opened up in the Portland metro area! I'm from Texas and used to eat at Dickeys there all the time, it was and is a favorite. It is truly the best BBQ I've had in a while. Real brisket not some kind of roast beef fake stuff and the sauces are the best I've had since leaving Texas. Is as close to what I grew up with as you can find in the NW. I'm looking forward to many more meals here! Kids eat free on Sunday and free ice cream everyday make a fantastic meal even better!

Not a good day at Dickies.....third, and probably last time I'll visit this bbq place. I asked for sliced brisket, and got chopped. Looks chopped to me. Manager says, "Hey, I didn't chop it. I promise." WHAT? How about saying 'oh, let me get another serving to you right away.' Sauces weren't hot as the machine wasn't plugged in. Duh. A big draw for me was the fact that you could get HOT sauces, as in temperature. Not today. Also, no frozen ice cream because the setting wasn't on "frozen". I just pushed the button to get the freezing started for others later in the day. Again, duh. Each time I've visited, the quality and level of service has just declined.

Dickey's is a chain with a fairly small seating area. It's sort of like a scaled-down Busters with some upscale sides. You can get your order to go, which is a great feature. I Had a "Lil' Hoagie" with brisket, some potato salad, sweet tea, and some of their free ice cream. Three kinds of sauce: I think I got the Spicy, they didn't ask, but all three are available at the condiment/beverage/silverware area. The sauce was good, as was the brisket which you can get chopped or sliced. They put a couple pickles and two pieces of onion on the sandwich, which were also good. The potato salad was nicely creamy with a lot of dill - above average. The tea appears to be fresh-brewed. It was OK. Ice cream was good vanilla soft-serve.

This is a solid franchise concept that has been around since 1941 - how many franchises can say that? I had the Westerner sandwich with brisket and spicy (and I MEAN spicy) cheddar sausage, my wife had a combo plate - both were good, but I thought the portion on the combo plate to be a bit on the light side. The sauces are good, as are their drink offerings (though I resent being charged $2.50 for a Coke), including the sweet tea. Service wasn't slow for us, as we were second couple in the door; five minutes later, the line was OUT the door, and things slowed down considerably. With four people behind a relatively small counter, I'm not sure how they'll improve that. They have an excellent rewards program (free) that includes a key fob chip that they scan from your first meal, and those points actually have value. We received an e-mail before we got home that we had 'earned' a free meal - who says there's no such thing as a free lunch. Dickey's is beginning to expand into the Northwest, and they should do well for those who aren't up for Busters' prices.

We have yet to have a bad meal here! Favs are the brisket, turkey and pork ribs. With no BBQ restaurant out here, we appreciate this spot!

Best BBQ in Washington County. Sure, they aren't perfect, but I have never found perfect yet. I personally don't like their potato salad at all... very, very bland, just a very slight DILL flavor - not worth having a second bite. However, the fried onion rings are a favorite! My hubby loves their Mac and Cheese - super creamy and cheesy! Cole slaw is really good. The Pulled pork, ribs, and brisket are all delish! Moist and tender, but not mushy. The BBQ sauce is great! They have free ice cream cones which the kids love - self serve soft serve. I personally think their "ice cream" is too sweet and not very creamy, more like frozen sugar milk. I'd love it if they would eventually move to a larger place because they are pretty popular but have very few tables. Regardless of a few things I don't like, the meat is the BEST and that is the reason I want to go to a BBQ joint in the first place.

I've had few chances to stop in this joint and overall the quality of the BBQ has been excellent. The meats I've tried: brisket, pork, and ham were all moist and tender. The sides are also quite good, and portions seem generous. The daily specials seem like a great value, and I've taken advantage of these for lunch. As a side note: the place does have a few kinks to work out. The space is very small, and not really conducive to dining; more a takeout joint. The line can also get pretty long, so be prepared to wait a bit. Don't worry, it's worth it!

We never knew this existed and have been there a few times now. Friendly staff and fast service. All the meat options are excellent. The best part is a free soft serve ice cream after your meal...a definite hit with the kids! Great addition to the community. The only challenge is they have minimal seating. A larger location would be great.

Maybe Texas really isn't that good. I actually remember going to Dickeys when I went on a trip to Dallas. It was in the Dallas Airport. I remember not being super impressed, but not bing super disappointed either. I even took home my big yellow cup. Several years have passed since then and my culinary eyes have been opened wide thanks to some new experiences around my own city. I always tell myself never to order brisket because it just won't compare to my favorite places. I didn't listen. The first piece I ate was actually pretty good, almost pot roast like. The others were dry and flavorless. Gotta drown it is sauce. The BBQ Beans were not too bad. A little spicier than I expected, and not as sweet. Probably the most authentic part of the dish. The cheddar sausage was bad. It actually was a little cold and the texture was supremely offputting. Avoid this one. The mac and cheese was the worst. It was really mushy and there was not real cheese flavor. No sharpness, no creaminess, just bland mushy blob. I do love me some BBQ. I could see myself getting the daily special maybe but trying some different...or not.

This is my favorite bbq joint. I always get the 2 meat plate with brisket and spicy cheddar sausage. The potatoes casserole is out of this world! Came in tonight because my wife was craving the pulled pork and they accidently sent us home with the sausage instead. The manager was on top of it and got us our original order and let us keep the mistake. Great customer service! I'll definitely continue to keep coming back.

Good comfort southern style BBQ. Reminded me of being in Arkansas. The Mac and cheese was smooth and creamy. Large portions. Lots of meat choices. They even had fried Okra, yipee!

Dickey's BBQ is "ok". I've been here a few times now (hoping to not judge it based on one experience or even two). Unfortunately there are not a lot of BBQ options on this side of Portland - especially in Beaverton/Hillsboro. To start off - I do a LOT of BBQ at home in the spring/summer - and do a lot of smoking of my own meats. I lived in Texas as well as Georgia for quite a few years - so when it comes to BBQ I've had some of the best out there. In addition...living in Oregon I would not expect the BBQ to be on the same level as the BBQ belt of our nation - which is why they get 3 stars instead of 2. Simply to start off - if you have fried okra and mac-n-cheese on the menu - there's not a single BBQ place in the south that would stay open without hot sauce anywhere to be found. Texas Pete's, Tabasco, Louisiana Hot Sauce....something. When it comes to fried okra - one of my all time favorite southern treats! Very few places in the NW serve it...so thank you for having it on your menu. On the same token, it's pretty obvious it's low grade pre-frozen (which is still better than nothing - but it's less expensive to have a dredge/batter there in the restaurant and make it to order. Better tasting, less expensive). The tiny rolls served - yeah...that's not BBQ. For the same price (or close to) there are a LOT of bakeries in the area where loaves of Texas Toast could easily be made available. Texas Toast is what needs to be served with BBQ - not tiny bland rolls. The meat - it's "ok" but definitely missing the significant smoke flavor found at the vast majority of BBQ joints coasts to coast. What I do like - The manager seems to be a great guy. I like the concept they use for the drinks. The sauces are above average and it's a nice perk with the free ice cream for customers. I also like the amount of options on the menu and the number of sides available. Dickey's will do in a pinch when you're tired of the normal options of food out there. It's not bad - the prices are a bit high. And with a few tweaks on things it could be a 4 star BBQ place. One of the easiest would simply be for the owner to get some hot sauce available. It's not a significant expense.....and when it comes to BBQ places coast to coast - it's an expectation (especially when you serve the sides that are on the menu).

I'd give Dickies 3 1/2 if I could. As it is it drops because of inconsistency. On the good side: Free ice cream Pellet ice Onion "tanglers" Nice sauce Good potato Casserole Brisket is usually top notch Close to my home On the down side: Small dinning area Often too busy for the space Sometimes a mess Pulled pork is meh Ribs overcooked Prices are not up to the value INCONSISTENCY Honestly, we go there because its the only BBQ in the area and we can't always drive to north Portland every time I have a hankerin' for some smoked meat.

  • Martin F.

it's pretty good 'que. The meat is tender but I felt like there wasn't as much flavor as I would have hoped. If they do smoke it, I don't taste the flavor coming through. the folks are nice, the prices aren't too bad. The curly fried onions are very tasty.

We went in for a late lunch. Ordered two meats with two sides at the counter. Meats were spicy sausage and smoked brisket. First team member carves and lays out on paper. Next server asks me for sides choice. I inquire about cole slaw and the reply is "don't know, never tried the slaw". Crap, WTH are you doing serving if you know nothing about the product? Order slaw and potato salad. This with small drink comes for about 14.00. Brisket has zero bark and very little smoke. Sausage is very good, moist and tasty with spicy sauce. Sides are just OK but I ordered what might be considered their worst sides. People love this BBQ but I have had better. It does well and I feel I should give them another try before writing them off. For now my review is 3 1/2 stars.

I'm so pissed. I usually like the food here, but they need to fix their family pack. Last night, I was debating between ordering 4 combos or 1 family pack. The guy convinced me that the family pack is a better deal because you get more food for the same price. I beg to differ. This family pack is advertised as it would feed for 4-6 people. When I got home, it ended up barely feeding 4 people. The sides fed only two people. How is 6 waffle fries supposed to feed 6 people? The meat was barely enough for 3 people. I paid $50 for $20 worth of food. I would have got more food if I ordered 4 separate combos. I knew it was too good to be true. I'm going to demand my money back or two complimentary meals.

I like this place. I like their food. I like that I had a coupon for them from Rest.com . The guys here were super friendly, helpful and seem to be enjoying themselves. When I struggled over side dish choices, one suggested the baked potato casserole. Excellent, Smithers! When I mentioned Yelp, he said oh good, we're only at a 3.5 now. I dug that he knew that and cared! I'm happy to report that I am doing my part! In a big mall of little strip malls (or so it looks to me) somewhere in the anal cavitties of Beaverton lye this bbq joint. At 12 or so on a Thursday, the place had a few customers, which grew until most tables were filled by the time we left. Order at the conveyor area on the right, drinks/sauce/shiny plasticware down at the end on the left. There's a sign up front with daily specials. So armed with a coupon, I got the pulled pork and spicy sausage with 2 sides for about $9 in addition to my rib plate. The rib plate with 2 sides and rolls ($13.50) was a good amount of food. The ribs were really delicious and fall off the bone but slightly overdone. Loved the sausage and decent (also a little overdone) pulled pork. Yummy baked beans, decent mac & cheese (more seasoning, I think), I loved the baked potato casserole (but it really is mashed), and the cole slaw was good, not too heavy and fresh. I just finished the leftover this morning and cole slaw definitely stood up! My friend's waffle fries were excellent! Three sauces to choose from - basic but good. Shiny silver plasticware. Soda comes in giant size. I mixed 4 sodas for the perfect cola, diet and pepper mix - cos that's how I roll. There's even free soft serve ice cream!!!! What? Is this a chinese buffet? But like a dolt, I fogot to go back for mine. So, in sum: The location, well... ya know. The place seems clean but nothing to write home about decor-wise. But otherwise, I dig this place. I dig the food, the staff and the free ice cream!

Update: 4/15, Dickey's how I used to like you more than I do now. You just never can get my order correct, no matter what I do. Out of my last 4 orders I asked for sliced brisket, I got chopped every SINGLE time. I ordered online. Last time, I got online to order and it said your website was down for an update. I called in, the young man who answered told me it "should be up", well it has a message saying the opposite. He begrudgingly took my order over the phone. I wanted Spicy Cheddar Sausage, he kept asking if I wanted a pound or half a pound. I said ONE link please. Also ordered a Baked Potato. Hubby picked it up and guess what instead of the 1 link I wanted I got an entire pound, which I ended up throwing most of it away. The baked potato, what a ripoff that was, the potato was rock hard, and had barely any toppings for $7.00, will NEVER try that again. Ordering online does not work Ordering in person over the phone does not work either. Think I am done.

A vendor brought our office lunch in today and had Dickey's cater. Holy awesome spicy & sweet barbecue sauce Batman! Every last one of us went in for seconds. I personally took seconds of the mac and cheese, pulled pork (with both spicy and sweet sauce) and the baked potato casserole. However; that wasn't to say the rolls weren't buttery and worth a second grab or the creamy coleslaw wasn't creamy. I was just too full to take another helping of everything. One co-workers favorite was the slaw. One was the baked potato casserole. One the pulled pork. Well, duh! everyone's favorite was the pulled pork. I didn't have a favorite because I loved it all equally. There are a lot of good ribs places in town, but this has been rated our new favorite.

When this place opened up, I didn't realize this was a popular chain with 400+ locations all over the country. This is the first one in the Portland area and it's got some pretty good stuff going for it. My favorites include the sausage (both kinds), coleslaw, chicken breast, ham, baked beans, and ribs. The mashed potato casserole was just ok. It definitely needed to be heated up. It was too cold for the cheese to soften let alone melt. The biscuit was kinda meh...a bit too doughy but it's starting to grow on me. The pulled pork and brisket were big disappointments in the flavor department. In terms of texture, they're excellent, but you really need to slather on the sauce to cover up the dry and unseasoned meat. The dinner area is small and can get very crowded quickly during the lunch rush. The floor also has this weird greasy-slippery feel to it. Not sure what's up with that... watch your step? The big plus are the people working there. Always friendly and pleasant and eager to offer helpful suggestions if you're stuck on what to order. There's also free soft-serve vanilla ice cream if you care for some dessert afterwards. Food: 4 Service: 5 Value: 3 Ambiance: 3 TL;DR: Not bad for some quick BBQ

The brisket was awesome. Pulled Pork was a little dry but the bbq sauce helped out. The only thing I didn't like about this place was the guy taking the order Sean. He didn't give a 2/3 sides and 4/6 rolls that came with my order. Even after asking him to make sure.

    (2)
  • Jenni B.

I can't believe I'm saying this about fast food BBQ, but this place is good!!!! The brisket is smoky and tender. They have 3 warming bins of BBQ sauce- get as much as you want. We will be back They also sell meat by the pound, get it and take it home!

We've been wanting to try this place for a while and finally came in tonight. Not that impressed overall. I might give another try earlier in the day because unfortunately they were out of most of what I wanted. No ribs, no chicken, no Mac and cheese, no sweet tea. The pulled pork was good but the green beans and bacon were awful - they reminded me of the school cafeteria. Maybe earlier in the day things would be better.

There are restaurants I drive through, restaurants I walk into to grab take out and restaurants where part of the experience is going in, sitting down and eating. Dickey's to me is a walk in and grab some takeout type of place. Sure you could go in and eat when on a lunch break or out running errands but that is not how I roll. When I have worked a 12 hour day I do not want to talk to you....I barely want to grab takeout on my way home so I can survive the night. The last thing I want is some moron to screw up my order fake a phone smile when they could care less. Easy online order page...what??!! And my order was fast , no bs and correct! Their meats were all excellent and moist though I liked the sliced brisket over the chopped more. For sides we tried the beans (a little runny for my taste but great flavor), mac and cheese (standard but good), the baked potato casserole (rather tasty and something a bit different) and the fried onion strings (OMG YES...these were amazing and did not last long). I was disappointed that they do not have corn bread like many of the other reviews...that just seems unnatural for a BBQ place to not have corn bread. I will say though that their little sesame rolls are tasty but I still would have preferred some corn bread. The also offer free soft serve ice cream cones for desert which I did not try though I wish I brought a to go container to score some ice cream...I will remember for next time.

This place is A-Ok but I'm also a fan. The best things about this place is that the prices AND portions are reasonable. When it seems like you cannot get a meal for under $10 with any options these days, Dickey's offers up a good meal at a reasonable price. Brisket Sandwich: Hearty helping of bbq meat! Wow! The bun was fresh and the sauce was good. My only complaint here was that the meat was a *little* dry, easily rectified by adding a little extra bbq sauce. Sides 1 - beans: Great baked beans! Spicy, but not too spicy, and not too watery. Side 2 - fries: Waffle cut fries perfectly salted, definitely a fan of these. A small-ish serving, but you really don't need too many with how big the sandwich is. Side 3 - mac n cheese: This marked the place down a little bit for me, it might just be that the overly cheese mac n cheese is not my style, but it was blah and needed salt and pepper. Side 4 - coleslaw: standard coleslaw for the area, neither good nor bad but a solid choice if you normally like to add slaw to your bbq sandwich. Next time I would skip the Mac n' cheese and stick with the beans and fries! Notes: quick service, big drinks in reusable plastic cups, an alternative to your standard hamburger joint, accessible, okay-ish parking.

Went in to order to go. Was so blown away by the side conversation employees were having. One girl, presumably asst manager, was loudly talking about how her other manager wasn't cutting her in on the tips. She should NOT have talked so loudly. Another employee offered a deal and an employee said "we only tell our friends about that". Horrifying to hear coming from a customer service based job. Food was mediocre. Definitely will take my business elsewhere next time.

Understand something. I've spent time in Texas. I own a *real* barbecue (no; that's *not* a grill). I know what real barbecue should look and taste like. This is it. Dickey's, for the uninitiated, is an institution in the Dallas area. They've been around nigh on unto forever (or 1941, if you want an exact date). The original fact about Dickey's is the meat. And, predictably, that's the case with their first Oregon location. Understand something else - real barbecue isn't served up in restaurants. A real barbecue establishment is called a 'joint', and with good reason - the emphasis is on the meat, and little else. Dickey's does their own barbecue on-site - so the bowling-alley shaped strip-mall hole-in-the-wall here at the intersection of Murray and Scholls has few tables; isn't really set up for large groups, and has no waitstaff. You place your order at the counter (you're expected to know what you want; if you don't, the staff is trained well enough to give you a spot-education); it'll come to you on a tray lined with butcher paper. It's said that there are two kinds of people who understand beef brisket - Jewish folk from New York, and Texans. These folks understand brisket - you can order a half-pound to go from the lean end, and they know what you mean - which trumps every other 'cue-establishment I've frequented in these parts. Try the brisket. You won't go wrong. That said, understand that both the coleslaw (which is creamy enough) is pretty bland; the potato salad even more so. They don't have salt and pepper shakers on the tables (a serious oversight, IMHO), so be prepared to open a lot of those irritating little paper-packets. I didn't try the beans, but if they're the same recipe as in Dallas, they're good. They have three types of sauce at the bar in the back (plus pickles and onions), and free soft-serve ice-cream after your meal (if you want it). Minor quibbles: The floor is greasy - a wash after-hours with vinegar water and some due-diligence should correct this problem. (I know; it's hard to keep a place like this clean with ambient vaporized grease from the smoker a more-or-less constant fact.) Also, the place is *hot*. That's probably not a problem during winter and spring - but this summer, I'm going to imagine the majority of their product will be consumed at home, unless they're going to be liberal with a *very* high-volume A/C system. In all, they didn't disappoint, even if the location was modest (I imagine corporate is really just dipping its toe in the water this far north and west). By all means; go. Order a pound of brisket; take it home, and revel in the fact that there's finally a place on the west side that serves something with a real smoke-line....

I'm going to echo what another yelper said, I only go here because most times I don't feel like driving hella far to get some bbq. Ain't nobody got time for that! I've been here when it's packed & when it's slow. The food is on the pricey side, so we usually get the meal deal of the day, just so we can afford it & get a drink with it. Plus, we stay for the free ice cream for our daughter. I'm not super impressed with their sides, but I eat it cuz that's life. My food had never been terrible, raw or wrong ... But it's never been my favorite either.

Not the greatest BBQ joint in town. Tried it and going back to Dave's. Their bb ribs were dry and so salty hence the 2 stars. The sauces weren't wowing me. Other items (brisket, okra, fries) are average. Sorry you did not win me over!

It was okay. I got the pulled pork sandwich with beans. The meat is pretty good quality, the beans were fine. They don't have many sauces to choose from, but the ones they have are all right; nothing special. I think for the amount you pay, it's not really worth it. I much prefer Buster's pulled pork sandwiches, they are bigger sandwiches, better meat, more sauce variety, and slightly cheaper. I just didn't think the cost fit the quality, probably won't be back.

The food here is good. The service is good. The place is clean and nice. It's a good value. So why only three stars? First, the music. If you like bad covers of old country music, this is your place. Otherwise, bring hearing protection. Second, the use of disposible plastic cups for soft drinks. I am an Oregonian and I don't want to landfill a plastic cup each time I have lunch. I wish they would use non-disposable cups or biodegradable paper cups instead.

I tried this place for the first time yesterday. The place was busy which I thought was a good sign for some good food. Unfortunately, I will not be a return customer. The place is just too disorganized. Like other reviews, they can't seem to get an order correct. I had 2 missing sides and one completely wrong side. The kids meals are a joke. Burned chicken nuggets and a few bites of brisket. The brisket sandwich was good. The BBQ sauces are good. The jalapeño beans are terrible. The pulled pork is greasy and soggy. There are better places to spend your money in my opinion.

We got a family take out pack with two meats. We got ribs and brisket nd three medium sides. The green beans are very good, though they needed a little bit of salt. The beans were good and the coleslaw was real tasty. The ribs were very tender and the brisket was almost too tender and fell apart ore than expected. Very solid take out BBQ. A faster and less expensive option for Famous Dave fans.

My friend and I ordered a Rack of Pork Ribs to share at Dickey's Barbecue Pit, and although the "presentation" wasn't the most artful, the ribs were meaty, smoky, tender, and good. We got twelve separate messy ribs instead of a "rack" as I had expected (but that's OK since good ribs are meant to be eaten and savored. . .not just looked at). One minor issue: I figure as long as they're going to serve us twelve separate pieces, then they should ALL be good pieces (especially if we're paying $24.95 for this), but this was not the case. One of the ribs was an end piece that was a bit burnt and crispy. (Oh well, so we settled for 11 out of 12.) We also shared their "Signature" Westerner Sandwich with a choice of any two meats with cheese. We got Pulled Pork along with Polish Sausage. It was tasty. We had a couple of side items too, barbecue beans and fried okra. These were unremarkable, but I figured they are two customary sides that you gotta have with barbecue stuff. A nice touch here is that everyone gets free ice cream for dessert from a self-serve soft ice cream machine. Well, we drove quite a ways from SE Portland clear out to the outer reaches of Beaverton to try out Dickey's, and, yeah, it was worth the drive.

Okay food, awful service. Every time I go here they are slow and disorganized. I called in an order of only sides, and came in a half hour later. I had to wait 15 min in line before I got up there, to find out that I had to wait another 10 minutes for a side that wasn't ready. What's the point in ordering ahead? The people in front of me were waiting for 15 for rolls, which is ridiculous since they serve these with everything, so they should be ready. Last time they out our salads at the bottom of the sack, so by the time we got home they were hot and soggy. I won't be back. I'll find somewhere else to buy overpriced, mediocre BBQ.

Not a huge place. Kinda like the size of a subway. Great service with a smile and conversation! The food was great! They have many options and lunch specials. Their brisket sandwich was amazing. It is right down the st from where I work and I look forward to eating there often. The location is very clean and tidy. They have fountain drinks and the pricing is very reasonable for the food being so delicious. 3 of us went there to eat lunch for about $22. There are lots of side options. Macaroni and cheese, waffle fries, several kinds of potatoes, some vegetables. The place is a little busy at lunch because it is obviously becoming more popular and is in a busy business area so plan accordingly. The service is fast enough to keep up with the crowd though. I cannot wait to go again!

My hubs and I LOVE barbeque. When we drove by and saw Dickey's we decided to give it a try for lunch. There was a steady stream of people coming in, and even though the place is pretty small, with few tables, there seemed to be a lot of take out so there wasn't ever any real back up. We were greeted by a friendly guy and offered samples of the meat we asked questions about. We ended up splitting a 3 meat plate with sides. The meat we got was ribs [2], brisket, and pulled pork. The ribs were really dry and tough, I love love love ribs but I wouldn't order them again here. The brisket we sampled was moist and delicious and what we got was fantastic but it was the end piece so it was a bit more fatty than I like. Third we got the pulled pork, really moist, great flavor, not too salty which was my concern. Again, a bit fatty; I feel like we missed out on some meat due to the fatty stuff. The sides we got were the onion frazzle fry things. They were ok. We also got mac-n-cheese which I wouldn't order again. So we will probably go back and give it another shot, but try some different sides and no ribs.

Been there once. There were so many flies right above the food. We got our order to go. Small portions, only average food. We thought about the flies the whole time we were eating. Doubt we'll go back. Busters is much better.

The food was pretty good but seating is awful. There are only a few tables so if you go during a busy time your pretty much hosed on seating. Also giving out large plastic cups all the time seems excessive. I get doing it for the novelty but seems wasteful. It would be nice to have a disposable or glass option.

An extremely well themed barbecue pit with fresh pine walls and Dickey's historically themed photos; the food is fresh and prepared fast. It's opening day and they're serving a Meat Plate ($10.50) or a Big Barbecue Sandwich ($5.95 + $3.50 2 Sides). The pulled pork is very tender, the bun is fresh toasted with a machine that coats it in oil then roasts it. I chose fried okra, very crispy and fresh as well as waffle iron fries. I had the privilege of being shown the smoker, 500lbs of hickory meat smoked tender up to 13 hours; the meat is not over sauced, no need for it and one has the option of adding more if wanted. They have a selection of soft drinks and large re-usable cups, the ice is the super fine soft cube style; sides of sweet, original and spicy BBQ sauce as well as pickles, lemon wedges and onions you get to take as a side. The room is garnished with a flat screen playing football and a southern-style chandelier. Coming from a Le Cordon Bleu student, very cleanly and well performed! Ice cream cone for dessert, non-dairy soy!

Ribs and brisket were overcooked and dried out, not enough bbq sauce to save it. They're a new (chain) establishment so maybe they'll figure it out. But they cut the fat off the brisket for goodness sakes!

It's not bad if you just want something that tastes like BBQ. Tried Dickeys, in Beaverton, Murray/Scholls, for the first time today. If you don't specify, you get chopped brisket, and it is overcooked, as are the ribs. " Fall off the bone" shouldn't mean the meat falls off when you pick it up. That's overcooked! The meat should PULL off the bone.! Please start removing the silver skin off the the ribs too! Pulled pork was OK, just not a lot of flavor and no bark at all. I was kinda bummed. Portions were on the light side. BBQ beans had some good kick. The green beans cooked to mush. Yes......mush. The bark on the brisket had OK flavor and it and the ribs had some smoke flavor. Was it all bad? No. Did I get my money's worth? No. Next time I'll make the trip to 17th and Killingsworth, when I feel like eating BBQ, other than my own. Hope this review helps....

Good: meals are huge and prices are good. Taste is a bit above average. Bad:tough location to get to. It's a good place if you're at the mall but other than that it's an inconvenient place to get to.

This place was a great experience. I stopped in because I wanted to try out the new place in town and I had never heard of dickies. The people were great, I loved the service. The food wasn't the best quality but it tasted great. They cut it up right there for you, let you choose your sides and build your whole meal. I suggest getting the 3 meat plate and all the sides are great at this place. Overall a great experience.

Other reviewers have noticed what I have. I guess if you dont know BBQ then you wouldn't be the wiser. I will start with the food is good from what I have had. I get sandwiches all the time. This weekend things were not good. I went in fri, sat and tonight. All these nights they were out of a lot of beef. Every night although the sign says they are open they seem to close things down earlier and ealier. Tonight the bun toaster was shut down. After letting them know that to me the toasted bun was a big part of it to me they started it back up. The manager was nice and tried to make things right. He said the owner wants them to shut things down early and be gone by 9:30 PM. For a BBQ place that closes at 9 PM that doesn't sound like a lot of time to clean. Maybe thats why an earlier review says there are flies. All I know is things need to be top notch for this area. They need to work harder at this or they wont be around long. They have good food so I hope they take things seriously. I will update my review as standards improve. Update: They still have an issue running out of products by 8PM but they have tried to do right by me. I have changed my star rating because of this.

Do you smell that tempting smoky aroma wafting across Murray Scholls? People working out at 24 Hour Fitness will be drooling. This new joint has wonderful food and just celebrated their grand opening (Sept 2014). You gotta try the pulled pork! The fried onion tangles and fried okra are fresh and tasty, not mushy. The sweet tea is the real deal. Finally!! A BBQ joint that fills the niche for quality BBQ in Beaverton. We haven't found such good BBQ since moving here from NC two years ago despite our efforts. Be warned. It's a small space. I imagine it will be a wait to get in at prime times. Good things come in small packages.

My hubby and I were excited to try this BBQ place because it smells so good when you drive by, so we went last night. First impression: wow! Busy! Line out the door, so we're thinking it must be really good. Tiny place inside, cafeteria style ordering first, then you pay, and then find a seat or go home with your food...which we were doing to-go anyhow, so glad of that because I don't think there was seating available and besides that it was so smoky from smoking their meats it was getting to me. Nice, easy to read menu & really decent prices. Got up to the counter and the manager was expressing his concerns about running out of chicken and turkey because 2 large groups just came through and took all of their poultry. Ok. Not what we wanted anyhow...hubby got Rib dinner plate and I got 2 meats dinner plate. Decent amount of food, think he got about 6 ribs, 2 sides, and roll. I chose beef brisket and polish sausage...the brisket is chopped up, equals about a cup and like 5 slices of sausage plus the 2 sides and roll. Got home, looks good, smells good.... Ribs--ok, fall of the bone tender with good sauce, then POW! SALTY! Wow, WAY too salty! Brisket--also ok, would rather it was sliced instead of chopped. No BBQ sauce, but HELLO, SALTY! Wow again! Polish Sausage--tasted ok at first, then POW black pepper and salt! The sides were better...Coleslaw, really good. BBQ beans, really good, Fried Onion Tanglers (aka onion ring strings), really good. Mac and Cheese--sucks! Mushy pasta, with Velveeta---little kids probably love it. The rolls are good, and every meal comes with dill pickle slices and onion slice---I guess if you want to put your chopped meat on a bun with those it would be better....but more salt from the pickles! We couldn't finish the meats, they were just WAAAAAAYYYY TOO SALTY for us. Overall, very disappointed. Today, stomach not so happy either. :( We won't go back, but if you LOVE salt, this is your place for BBQ! Personally, in the Beaverton/Aloha area, DUKE'S BBQ is Far better!

Went to try the new place in town. Used coupon they had for buy one, get one. We ordered two two-meat plates with brisket on both, turkey breast, and chicken breast. Brisket was definitely the favorite. Tender and nicely seasoned. Disappointed that the turkey was a processed loaf....yup...although flavor was good. Here's the sides we got : Baked beans. OK, nothing great. Green beans w/bacon. Almost no flavor...bacon? Where?? Potato casserole. Pretty good. Coleslaw...IDENTICAL to KFC. Disappointing. Daughter had a kids meal with waffle fries, which were very good. Loved the spicy BBQ sauce. Rolls are the doughy barely - cooked variety but taste pretty good. Love the pebble - style ice for soft drinks. Husband stopped in next day for lunch and ordered a chicken Caesar salad...it was 7.95. He was very disappointed....very small, 3 croutons, tiny bit of chicken. He said it should have been 1.95 for what he got. We will give it another try....there's lots more sides to try and we really liked the brisket. Nice decor in the restaurant.

after sampling what my dad got from there I can safely say I won't ever go here, I can, and do do better BBQ at home. Why waste my time and money. there sauce tastes like ketchup, their pork was flat and flavorless. They may be a chain, but so is famous Dave's and they are better then this.

Ugh. I'm a big BBQ fan and I don't always need someplace over the top like Smokehouse 21. Sometimes, a girl just needs a fast, cheap, and delicious brisket sandwich. This place...well, it has brisket, I guess. It's tiny and grimy, particularly weird since it's been open only for about two months. Meat is dry, sliced brisket is more or less always chopped, and the sauce is like ketchup. Two stars because the employees are really nice and friendly. Otherwise, a total disappointment.

The bbq here is good. The pulled pork and the brisket have great taste and texture for the price point. The sides are the afterthought. Nothing that stands out. Nice space, free soft serve, and friendly staff.

I had been craving fried okra for a long time when a couple of coworkers directed me here. I was definitely not disappointed. The fried okra is made fresh to order so it is absolutely fantastic and I also got some Mac and cheese along with my brisket and everything tasted so fantastic I can hardly contain myself. I will be coming back again without a doubt.

I have been to this Dickie's 3 times and it seems to have gone downhill just a bit each time. 1st time was excellent. Ordered the Rib plate and got 6 nice center cut ribs, 2 sides and a roll. Beans and slaw have been pretty good each time... Mac and Cheese.. not so much. The staff has always been very friendly and the service was usually pretty quick too. Seemed to be a well oiled machine. Last night was the other end of the food spectrum.. I ordered my rib plate to go and watched as they built it up. Ribs they used came out of 2 small wrapped package and appeared to be mostly all ends. Looked like they added a bit extra so I figured it would be OK. When I got to my house, I very disappointed. Each and every rib was a small rack tip and dried out. I have had jerky that was moister. They would not even qualify for Burnt Ends.... these Ribs were all but inedible.. not a single center cut rib in the bunch... just looked to be getting rid of the old ends. And they had plenty of racks available. Would have taken it back but it was almost a 30 minute drive and it wasn't worth it. I am done with Dickies.. there are too many excellent BBQ joints in the area ( 2 in Newberg, 1 in Dundee, Cannon's and Podnah's up on Killingsworth just to name a few. Life is too short for bad BBQ... Sorry Dickie's.. I don't believe I will be back

I was very much looking forward to the opening of this location having been to another Dickey's location in Las Vegas. I've now been to this location about half a dozen times and have been consistently disappointed. The Subway sandwich ordering process does not work here. If there is one or two people ahead of you, plan on a long wait. They are consistently out of items. How do you not have baked beans? In retrospect now, every time I have been there has been an issue. Whether it be not having a side available, getting the wrong side (I always order to go), or not getting the sandwich right. I always asked for sliced brisket but they always chop it. There isn't enough seating if you were looking to dine there and if you were to eat in, you'll have people hovering over your table as they are waiting for their orders. I gave this location several chances now and will not be going back. It is too expensive for what you get. You are better off making the trip to Famous Dave's or anywhere else (except Baxter or Buster whatever it's called on 99). All in all, very disappointed.

So far so good! They have chopped brisket as an option which was excellent! Sides were good. I'm a happy girl!
