A 4.5 for Alloro. Now that Wild Rose has moved to Ashland, Alloro is the only game in town for excellent bistro food. The crab bisque, venison with chestnut spaetzle, and duck breast with a cranberry-chestnut salsa, were all superb. Easily as good as anything we get in the San Francisco Bay Area, and a whole lot cheaper. The tiramisu was a throwback to the classic recipe. There is a real difference in using true Savoiardi biscuits (ladyfingers) instead of cake; it had a lightness that charmed rather than an overwhelming richness that satiated. It's a small restaurant, so make reservations in advance!

The food and atmosphere are far superior to restaurants at Bandon Dunes resort. We had the avocado and crabmeat salad and linguine with clams. The wine was wonderful and the service was excellent. I commend them for not polluting the atmosphere with a tv. I plan to return.

This was a total fluke. We were staying in Bandon about a mile from this place and we asked our host at our hotel, where he would recommend to eat. He gave us a list and I actually asked about Alloro and he said, "oh my wife's family used to have an Italian restaurant and he did not think much of it". So with that ammo, we went driving up and down the main drag looking for a place that was open past 6:00, that looked like it was up to code and didn't stink like dirty fish. We just decided to walk by this place and it was the cutest, most charming little place. We walked in feeling rather self conscious about our attire, as it felt like we were truly underdressed for this place. We did not have reservations, but the hostess sat us right away just the same. We were early. We proceeded to have the most delish meals. It was perfectly cooked, timed well and the atmosphere was fantastic. It was not inexpensive, but it was so worth it. Highly recommend!

Fantastic. We went to Alloro for the second time last month and ordered up a seafood feast of mussels, linguine with clams, grilled salmon, and seafood stew. Everything was top notch. I'm not a wine person, but the beer selection at Alloro is pretty good. Dessert (Baked Bandon) was excellent. All in all, a great choice for a night out on the Oregon Coast.

Amazing find on the Oregon coast. We stopped at Bandon after a long drive from Mendocino, and when we saw how small the town was, we were afraid that a good meal wasn't in the cards. We're from San Francisco, and Mendocino restaurant choices left us underwhelmed, so we were feeling pretty pessimistic. But we knew about Alloro and decided to give it a try. The staff kindly fitted us in at the last minute, and we had a great meal. The crab and avocado appetizer was perfectly executed, and the halibut entree with potato slices and pea puree was lovely. I hate overcooked fish, and the halibut was cooked exactly the way I like it. The wine menu is eclectic - I had a Sicilian white that I had never heard of before. We would definitely return to Alloro.

Spent the night in Bandon on our drive up the Coast and had dinner at Alloro. Its located in the "Old Town" area on 2nd Ave. The dining room is small and smartly furnished. We had an excellent dinner. The clams and linguine were delicious we also had sea food stew of Halibut, mussels, crab, prawns, calamari, manila clams, tomato-herb broth also excellent. The Caprese salad had local tomatoes was good but as expected. For desert we had a Semifreddo which was primarily a home made gelato cake. The price was reasonable for the quality and I would definitely go back.

Stayed overnight in Bandon during a road trip from Portland to San Francisco. In an attempt to avoid the very touristy-looking places in Old Town, checked out Alloro. Excellent meal and great service. Dining solo and without a reservation, but I was able to sit at the bar. If you have a group, it seems like a reservation is essential. Started with the shrimp ceviche, followed by the duck entree. Both were flavorful and well-prepared. Good wine selection, as well as draught Oregon beers and a full bar.

Excellent dining experience overall. Crab, tempura shrimp, lobster bisque, wine list, New York strip with truffle oil, atmosphere and service were all outstanding. Halibut with almond crust was fresh, generous portion and perfectly cooked. Unfortunately, the fish and dish were both very bland, crying for some seasoning or at least salt. The almond coating was not the crisp lightly fried coating that I expected, but more like just a coating of crunchy almonds covering baked fish. The potatoes served alongside were perfectly cooked, but again lacked flavor. The sweet pea puree was confusing, it didn't add anything to the dish but a bit of color. The tiny bit of creamy sauce on the plate was absolutely delicious, the highlight, there just wasn't hardly any of it. The disappointment of the halibut kept this rating from being a five-star but I will absolutely eat here again. Really fantastic overall.

We stopped in here on our overnight in Bandon (what a great little coastal community!) and enjoyed a nice meal. I started with a duck empanada that I found to be cold and a bit greasy and bland. The duck flavor wasn't particularly pronounced against the weight of the empanada and there were no other flavors incorporated to give it zing. Just ok. For an entree I ordered the salmon. It was fine - well cooked, not overdone. But again my tastebuds searched for something zippy to make it sing a little... Wine choice was a Dorigo Sauvignon Blanc. Nice, crisp, full bodied - a good suggestion from the restaurant staff. Finally, we had the tiramisu for dessert. The waitress told us that she has customers who come from all over just to get their tastebuds wrapped around that tiramisu. And it was good, but I couldn't see making a special trip to find it. It had a nice balance of mascarpone to coffee but I found the "dusting" of cocoa powder across the top to be too heavy and the dryness of it stuck to the inside of my mouth like cement, requiring swishing it out with water before I could continue to enjoy the underneath layers. A lighter hand on the cocoa application would make all the difference to this yummy dessert! The decor is clean and ocean-centric (modern driftwood art on the wall) without being kitschy. Overall a really lovely space. Would I go back? Certainly. But I'd probably try a couple of the other restaurants in town first.

Overall, the meal was probaby okay. The ceasar salad was pretty mediocre - something just wasn't right about it. Before I ordered it, I asked if I could have some actual anchovies, and not to be shy about it. (I know some chefs or waitresses don't like anchovies, so I asked for as many as they could spare.) Well, they put two stale little strips on the top of the lettuce, and when the bill came I was surprised to see that I was charged 50 cents per anchovy strip. Cmon guys, that's a small, $10.00 salad that was mediocre, at best, to begin with. I suppose the higher than average price is to discourage anyone from ordering it in the first place? I don't mind paying more for a well prepared meal, but it should be better than what you get for half the price somewhere else, like a sizzler steakhouse. You could tell the waitress what you wanted, but couldn't quite get it right. An Arnold Palmer heavy on the tea comes back 50% lemonade, way too sweet. And an attitude is what I get when I send it back and ask for just plain ice tea. On the plus side, the seafood, the Cacciucco, was very good although small portions again. Obviously the chef knew what he was doing here. And the bread was good, but again, chintzy with portions. For an $80.00 bill, you can't throw in an extra slice of bread? Or an anchovy? Sheesh. I was going to give it three stars for "average", but the pop-ups said three stars was "A-ok". Well, I didn't think it was. More accurate was two stars "I've had better".

Ambrosia.... Do not miss eating here while in Bandon. The best crab soup I ever ate in my life. We met patrons who were here last night that came back tonight for another helping. Elegant meals with exceptional quality. Fresh and artfully prepared. We also enjoyed the loft down the street. Two best eats in Bandon by the Sea.

Nice and clean white table clothes. Nice servers and then it ends there. HIGH PRIces for SMALL portions and the Tuna Fettuccine was so poor couldn't finish. The clams were ok but about a half cup of noodles and too spicy. Then to top it all off were charged a 22 percent tip ( don't say gratuity because I was not grateful) because there were three couples. One of the people in the group that had the clams said, "you never walk away from an Italian restaurant hungry but he did. You got us once but never again!

Service started was good but then went to terrible. We ordered 2 glasses of wine, zucchini blossoms and later split a Ceasar salad. Once we ordered our main entrées our waitress disappeared. I waited about 15 minutes to get a 2nd glass of wine. Once we got our main entrees she never came back, our water and wine glasses were empty the whole dinner service. It's a shame because my husband and I really enjoyed our meals but spending over $100 and being treated poorly is just not right. We would of loved to finish off with Gelato and port but why give them any more money. We tipped the chef $40 but not the waitress. Unfortunately we will not return because we told the owner and he was but the food was good right? He had no concern about the poor service.

This place was awesome. It's been a while since I've written a review on yelp, but felt this place deserved it. First, Jenine (our server) was fantastic. We have a young one and she was patient and super helpful in bringing her things like steamed veggies, water, etc. Our food was so so good. We started with the Antipasto Plate which was nice, but would have been better with a second cheese (only came with one). We shared the crab chowder and loved it. My wife had a baby kale salad and really liked it and I had the cacciucco which was incredible. I'm a huge cioppino fan...make it and home and always get it out to compare. Usually I'm disappointed, but this was not only up to par but exceeded expectations (and I have very high standards). Wine to pair was also very good and even had a nice Templeton Rye Manhattan. All in all- great!

Best get a reservation if you want to be sure to be served. Luckily someone had cancelled just before we called late one evening so we were able to enjoy the fare at this upscale Italian eatery. After sharing a perfect Caesar salad, we went our own ways on the entrees. My pasta with a tomato based Dungeness crab sauce was so good as was his spaghetti with marinara. Simple and well done. We shared a couple scoops of a vanilla and raspberry gelato - yum! Excellent bread was served with a fine olive oil. The restaurant was filled with locals, always a good sign. With so many great restaurants in Bandon, this is one we would be happy to revisit.

Lively, storefront Italian restaurant. The owner is the host, and very nice. Menu is short (a good sign), but varied. The servers were energetic and professional. Four stars because the food was good, but Tuscan fish stew was slightly sparse in contents.

I used to caddy at Bandon Dunes and I had to be a bit of an area expert to let people know where to go, and this and the Wild Rose Bistro were always tops on the list. The truffle oil NY Strip is one of the best meals I've ever had. Don't believe me? I haven't been there in 7 years and I'm coming back just to write this review. Call to make sure they are open, I remember it being seasonal. This place, Wild Rose, and El Jalepenos (for cheap food) are the 3 places to be in Bandon to fill your belly.

Excellent restaurant in Bandon. We were a party of 4 and everyone was delighted with their meal. The meals and specials were fantastic. David is the owner and he was very cordial. Dessert choices were wonderful as well. Service was great too. Would recommend this to anyone who visits Bandon. The tab was pricey but worth it. Definitely would return!

For what's available in any proximity to this area, Alloro is probably as good as you can get. Our meal was good, but not great. For about $150 for two people, you'd like it to be great. Like most places in small towns or off-the-beaten path, Alloro's rating is certainly inflated based on the standards of a large metropolitan area. I am rating it on that scale. If it were in Portland it would be a 3 star-rated place. The crab soup was a high point, with lots of crab, although a bit too sweet. The duck entree that I had was overcooked. I should've anticipated a problem when they didn't ask how I'd like it cooked. The standard is medium rare and it was cooked medium well to well. It still had good flavor, but it seemed like a rookie mistake. Overall, the execution was just a bit off. The ceviche-style appetizer was tiny and lacking acid. The caesar salad was bland. The frites basically potato straws too small to really eat. The dessert on the small side. So yeah, 3 stars is about right. If you have the right expectation going in, and you're okay with spending the cash without the meal being exceptional, it's a cute little place in a nice area where you can take a walk along the beach after dinner.

Amazing hospitality! Gluten-Free pasta choices and deserts!!! Best find in Band on!! Owners are fun and engaging. Services fantastic--listen to their recommendations, you can go wrong. Best meal for the $ in this town! Great spot! Gluten-Free sausage ragu was balanced and delicious! Chocolate mousse had great presentation and was delicious. Wine selection was nice!

My girlfriend and I went to this restaurant tonight. Although some mistakes were made with the original appetizers that we ordered, the owner, David, came over and personally apologized and rewarded us with a free dessert - the cheesecake, which was amazing. Mistakes are going to happen, but I think when the restaurant is very apologetic about it and gives you something extra in return than it is completely forgivable. That is great customer service. Thanks!

One of the best meals I've ever had. New York steak had wonderful flavor and was cooked perfectly. Smoked steelhead was delicious. My dad had the pork chop and it was amazing! All you heard the whole meal was "yummm!!" Every dish was decorated so nicely! Our desserts looked so beautiful and tasted even better. Service was friendly and attentive. Everything was well times as well, which is hard to find in fine dining! A great birthday treat and will make the drive to Bandon again soon!!

Wow! What a find! I've become a steady customer never being disappointed in the presentation taste and delicacy of the offerings. Pasta, seafood and meat dishes are awesome. Waiting staff is highly informative and most professional. Wine selections are excellent and reasonably priced as well. I'm just sorry I can't continue to enjoy this restaurant when I return home. Management provides a warm and welcome experience and the offerings are comparable to what I think are the finest restaurants in the country. A truly unique culinary experience!

This restaurant provided one of the best dinners I have had in a while. We went on a weekday in winter so a reservation was not needed. From entrance service was friendly and prompt. We got excellent recommendations from our server for drinks, as well as her help in narrowing down our meal of choice. Each bite was perfection and I look forward to going again!

I dined at this adorable bistro last Sat night with family on a quick getaway from Seattle. It had been recommended highly by friends who had been there a few weeks ago. I can honestly say it rivals with the high standard of excellence Seattle foodies would expect. From the lovely ambiance, outstanding service and a devine Ossobucco that was braised perfectly! I tasted my brother's entree and that duck with savory Port reduction was heavenly. Allorro is without a doubt a must for anyone visiting Oregon's southern coast. We also had perfect weather which was the icing on the cake!

So you're in Bandon, probably to play golf at Bandon Dunes, and you're saying "we need to leave the resort and head into town. But where?" Well, here, at Alloro. This place is fabulous. And it's a 15 minute cab ride from the resort to town. Concierge will arrange. Easy peasy. A reservation is a must. There are very few (8? 10?) tables here, and they're all reserved, even mid-week. (We went on a Wednesday.) Appetizers? Amazing. Ceviche. (Lightly) fried squash blossoms. Wow. Wine? Winners all around. Lots of Oregon wines, but we drank two bottles of an Italian vino nobile (priced, amazingly, at $50, which is a bargain for wine this good). Mains? Everyone was happy. I had cacciucco, which is an Itlian seafood stew with fresh Oregon razor clams, shrimp, scallops, and more. Wow, just wow. Nothing here has these obscene portions. It's all just right. Our service was spectacular. Our server was Heather, I think. She knew a lot about the food and wine, but never pretended to know something that she didn't know. I respect that. She was great. Over all, this is a wonderful dining experience. I'll make it back to Bandon for the golf, and there is no way I'll go without a trip to Alloro.

My boyfriend and I decided to eat here after reading all the good reviews it got and the food definitely did not disappoint! I had the roasted duck and it went perfectly with the tart cherry-cranberry glaze. My boyfriend got the local grass-fed steak dinner which was delicious as well. For desert we shared the tiramisu that was mouthwatering good. The service was excellent too!! If you are looking for a nice place to have dinner while in Bandon this is the place for you!

We tried to visit Alloro two years ago when last in Bandon but failed miserably by arriving just as they were closing (early) for the night. The meal we had instead was one of the worst I've ever had anywhere, but as it's been two years it's probably not worth writing a review. Let us just say that I've been wishing we had made it into Alloro for two years and have discovered that I was very right to feel as I did. The wine list is excellent and there are some very reasonably priced wines by the glass and bottle; additionally, the nightly by-the-glass specials keep the list from becoming dull. I had a glass of wine that I really did not enjoy and rather than force it down, I ordered something else. I expected to pay for both as it was just an issue of personal taste, but when the bill arrived, the glass had been removed from the tab (which I thought was over-generous, but appreciated). We split a crab and avocado starter that was exceptional. The seasoning was very delicate so you could taste the natural sweetness and fresh flavors of the crab. The seafood stew was quite good, though I would probably have enjoyed it a little spicier (I'm used to Cioppino, and was expecting something a little more along those lines), but I suppose there are others who would not. My husband enjoyed the roast duck in huckleberry sauce. The plating was elegant, and the quality of the ingredients was apparent. The new owner was there (they take over officially January 1st) and made a point of introducing himself around all the tables. He seemed very pleasant and excited about the new venture and stated that they will work very hard to set predictable hours in future so as to avoid issues like we had two years ago and I have seen in other reviews of finding the restaurant closed during regular business hours. I wish them luck and will be back to see how it goes in another year or two!

The restaurant came highly recommended from Bandon Resort. We were impressed with the cantaloupe prosciutto appetizer (cantaloupe was perfectly ripe and prosciutto was of a high quality). My husband ordered the steak - medium rare. He cut into it and it was grey. Three thoughts come to mind: (1) chef WAY overcooked it (2) they are English and boil their beef (sort of kidding) or (3) this is old meat. We sent it back and had the kitchen tried again. Another grey steak. Even the waitress said "yeah - that's not right". The service was very good. The wine list was quite good. The appetizer and Mac n Cheese was great. But medium rare grey steak?

What an incredible surprise in the town of Bandon. I wish I could give them 100 Stars! I had the Lamb Osso Buco and Mr. Picky had the Seafood with squid ink pasta. We were so happy with all the flavors mingling and blending so well we savored each bite. We had hoped that we could have picked desserts but we were pleasantly full so decided to return and we are now looking forward to our next visit. I highly recommend a glass of the French red blend of Mas de Martini Cuvee Vanus. (Not sure if I spelled that correctly)

Rebecca and I are down here in Bandon for a bit of vacation. A friend suggested this restaurant and it was a good one. Tuesday night in April is a quiet time in this town, which means we get all the attention at the restaurant. It turned out to be a very nice meal. We started with a papaya salad that was dressed with a sweet onion dressing. Dressing good, but not too much. Rebecca had a Tuscan fish stew. She liked it, but would have liked a bit more spice. I had lamb Osobuco. My dish was wonderfully tender. It was served with artichoke hearts and peas. We were lucky enough to pair our meal with a nice Vino Nobile di Montepulciano from 2009. It was a great pairing. Dessert was a chocolate mouse. In this case it was in a dome shape with a hard chocolate cover. It was then covered in a wonderful sauce. Two truffles graced the side of the plate. It was one of the best chocolate mouses I have ever eaten. Service was just right. It was a very nice relaxing dinner. I would encourage anyone to stop by for dinner. We will stop by again.

Best news ever - Alloro will be open year round! The new owners have kept the same great wait staff and the general style of the NW seafood menu. I ate at Alloro twice last weekend (both Friday & Saturday) - enjoying a perfectly prepared king salmon one night and delicious beef short ribs the other night. Each dish was beautiful to look at, as well. The desserts I chose - deep dark espresso brownie & panna cotta with brûléed banana and oranges were both creative and sublime. Kudos to the chef! They have a varied wine by the glass or bottle selection, too. I'll definitely be back, and I won't have to wonder whether or not they'll be open when I arrive in Bandon!

This place is excellent. It's not just "good for Bandon," it's gooood--for any location. We come to Bandon about once a year, and always stop here. The food is consistently several levels beyond delicious with creative execution. Vanilla bean scented parsnip mash would just be pretension almost anywhere else. Here it is ambrosia. Tonight we ordered the braised short ribs, so flavorful and rich I was glad to be sharing. Along side we had a pumpkin gratin and an apple endive salad with warm bacon dressing. Everything was fabulous, but the short ribs with parsnips and spinach was out of this world. Other things we've really enjoyed here are the Gorgonzola steak and the pumpkin brown butter ravioli. OH! And don't forget the tiramisu. It's the best I've ever had by a landslide.

We arrived @4pm. The waitress asked do we have a reservation. We ordered the crab/avo appetizer--amazing. Husband & I enjoyed our salads. We asked the waitress what the best items were & she gave us the same ole everything is wonderful line. She never said anything about specials. We overheard her telling another table about specials & introducing herself, to us she looked down her nose. i I decided to order the Tuscan fish stew & husband the rabbit. Husband said the rabbit was amazing, mine I salted & peppered & it still was blaaaaw, but since I was hungry I ate the whole thing. This is a little place which is a legend in their own minds. We went to another higher rated restaurant last night & it was amazing. Look at yelp for better rated restaurants.

This place discriminates. If you don't 1. Own a 3 piece suit or at least something with argyle on it 2. carry a $50,000 Prada bag 3. drink your wine with your pinky in the air while sharing stories about your round of golf, then don't eat here. My husband and I live on the coast and decided to stop in. The hostess asked if we had any reservations, we said no. She went to her boss, came back and told us, "we do have seating, but it's in the BACK room..". The patrons all looked up when she said that in her insulting tone because looking around, there were only 2 other families there, plenty of seating. Her tone was almost suggesting that we couldn't sit upfront because we would cramp their style. We proceeded to follow the hostess to the back room which I wish we hadn't because the food ended up being awful! My pasta tasted like salty top ramen, with hardly any clams. I could have gotten better food out of a Tuna Helper. There was a back door back there and I almost told our waitress on our way out if it would be best if we left through there so we didn't embarrass them again. By the way, I looked up the reviews on the place before coming in and it said it was CASUAL DINING, not we have sticks up our asses for the mediocre food dining. Reading some of the other reviews, this is not new behavior for them.

We were just passing through town and were so pleased to stumble upon this wonderful place. It's amazing that there is such a great restaurant in such a tiny town. We loved everything we got (especially the crab and avocado dish appetizer was extremely flavorful, and the clam chowder which was so definitely the best clam chowder we've ever eaten).

Nice atmosphere. New owner greeted us. Sat us a table. Food was excellent but discovered it was prepared by old owner, the new owners wife, who is a chef in Seattle, will be the new chef. Alloro is our favorite restaurant in Bandon. I would definitely advise to make a reservation, as the place is pretty small and tends to fill up. The menu offers local items and there is quite a variety, even though the menu is quite small. I would definitely recommend the crab and avocado appetizer. Presentation is also wonderful.

Hours are 4-8pm. The place was empty when we arrived at 4:30 but by 6:00 the little place was packed.......so reservations are a must! Best items we tried were the bread, wine, and desert. The shrimp stuffed fried zucchini flowers were way "way" over salted. For the price...I anticipated a little more seafood than I actually received in my cacciucco (fish stew) and the broth was not worth dipping my bread (very bland) "big dissappointment". The "in house" made desert was fantastic!!!!!!! Service was exceptional. Definitely worth going back and trying other menu items!!!! Expect to pay over a $100 for a party of two.

This was the best meal I have ever had in my life. We came in bedraggled vagabonds with disheveled beach hair, and left kings and princesses. We had no reservations, I recommend getting reservations if possible, but we were lucky enough to be squeezed in. Each dish that we sampled was delicious. One conversation went like this, "you should try this" "What does it taste like? Oh my god! That is exactly what food is supposed to taste like." Another, while I was devouring the panna cotta, which had a delightful rhubarb compote went like this, "blah blah blah" "I'm sorry. Were you talking to me? I'm in heaven right now. If you'd like for me to get back to you please leave a message."

Came here after a long day of exploring the Oregon Coast... Sat down to a deliciously clean, fresh meal of wine; shrimp-stuffed squash blossom; salmon, rice, and peppers; and strawberry-rhubarb panna cotta. Everything hit the spot and the panna cotta was heavenly. Definitely recommend this place.

Wow. We are still raving about this place three days later. Seriously one of the highlights of our trip down the 101. We almost didn't make it in, we arrived right after they flipped the sign to closed but luckily we were waved in. The staff here are great, really helpful with questions and recommendations. But the food. Oh my. It is amazingly delicious. We had a beautiful crab and avocado salad, lamb, and the beef short ribs. The food here is seriously inspiring, and did I say amazing? Please spend a little extra and have a meal here, you will not regret it in the slightest!

The service was great. I accidentally spilt my glass of water and the waitress immediately came over and changed our table cloth, brought us new water, and new napkins. She was very friendly and nice. The food was delicious from beginning to end. The presentation on all the plates were beautiful. I would definitely recommend this place! And they will surely see me again when I am in the Bandon area. The only thing I disliked was that there was no hostess so when you entered you stood in the entrance awkwardly until a waitress had the time to sit you.

We are in love with this small town gem! Our meal was memorable from start to finish. We arrived early and decided to sit at the lovely granite bar for a couple of glasses of wine. The service is gracious and homey. The atmosphere is lovely, small and intimate. The bread was soft and delicious. We each ordered half a dozen Northwestern oysters, which I have grown to love living near the coast, and the cucumber mignette was the perfect compliment to the briny, sea-tasting succulent meat. I moved on to the grass-fed short-rib, I'm a sucker for short-ribs, and these were quite possibly one of the best I've had so far. A reasonable portion, two meaty short-ribs, lightly bathed in a divine red wine sauce, a nice compliment to the slightly-sweet potato-parsnip vanilla mash, and the small onions. I savored every bite. My husband had the duck, it was cooked perfectly. We already knew to save room for the dessert, our serve had tasted it when she was pouring our first glass of wine, a perfectly chocolate cake with a warm chocolate oozy center, strawberry sauce, and fresh strawberries, it was to die for. I wanted to lick the plate. We've dined at many fine restaurants all across the US, and Alloro competes with any of them.

Had a really great soup, lobster bisque but for the price of the meal the food could have been a few notches up.

Truly a gem. We started with the crab and avocado appetizer, which was perfectly dressed, beautifully plated, and fresh, fresh, fresh. My husband had the wild salmon with lime glaze - "outstanding!" was his exact verdict. I had the Tuscan fish stew, a heavenly bowl of seafood in a mild tomato broth. Delicious. Everything was perfectly cooked, no dry fish or rubbery calamari here! And for dessert? Strawberry Charlotte, light and summery and not too sweet. Perfect! Portions are just right: enough that you won't leave hungry, not so much that you won't have room for dessert. It's a small, cute place, and on a Monday at 8pm, still pretty much filled; we had reservations (highly recommended) and were seated promptly, but at that time, your only other seating option would have been at the bar. Service was excellent - attentive but not intrusive. Our only "negative" surprise was finding that the list of wines by the glass was quite small, for what we were expecting from an establishment with "wine bar" in their name. That said, what they do sell by the glass is very good, and if you've never tried the Abacela (Oregon) albarino, you should. We ended up here when we discovered that our first choice restaurant was closed; turns out Alloro should have been our first choice all along. All in all, an excellent dining experience.

I have had some of the best meals of my life here. Steak with Gorgonzola butter. Deathly rich mac and cheese with baby lobster. Pumpkin ravioli I'm a brown butter sauce. My wife and I are foodies. This place is not just 5 starts in Bandon, it would be 5 stars in Portland.

After reading and hearing rave reviews we had been looking forward to this meal for several weeks. We made our reservation well in advance and arrived at least ten minutes ahead of the appointed time. The reception was the worst we've ever experienced. The staff appeared annoyed with having to deal with us and directed us to a table that felt like it was in a hallway. When we asked for a better table we were told that none were available even though there were at least a half dozen empty tables. We felt unwelcome. Unfortunately I can't comment on the food because we left. It was truly a unique dining experience since we have never before felt so unwelcome at a restaurant that we've decided to leave. We did review the menu and the selections were not particularly inspired. We just can't really recommend it.

My fiance and I have eaten a lot of good food in a lot of cities in a lot of states; most recently we've dined at popular Las Vegas restaurants (i.e. Craftsteak, Tao, Cut, etc). The reason I say this is because Alloro's ambiance, service, food presentation and flavors surpass them all - and at a FRACTION of the price! From seating, to appetizer to entree to dessert and coffee, we felt - and the food tasted - like we were in a 5 star restaurant. And the live music offered by a local guitarist was the icing on the cake. While I suspect everything on the menu is a 'winner', we ate (and adored, and would have licked our plates if we were alone): Starter - Crab and Avocado (surprise - it's served chilled!) Entrees - Alaskan Halibut / Salmon Fettuccine(?) (was a seasonal dish no longer on the menu - picture added) Dessert - Tiramisu, Gelato, & cappuccinos (excellent espresso, too!) Do yourself a favor if you're visiting or passing through Bandon - eat at Alloro's!

Great spot if you want to escape the pub food at the Bandon Resort. Comparable to a fine dinning restaurant in any large city like San Fran, NY or LA. Small cozy place with interesting food, has all the basics (steak, fish, pasta ) and some very tasty different items, rabbit, stews, and razor clams. Good friendly service and wine list. Will be back every time we go golfing in Bandon Dunes.

Has to be one of the best on the so. Oregon coast! Delicious starter of razor clams and shrimp/corn chowder and a duck entree and another of pan-fried sweetbreads, a rare find and done so nicely. Grew up with those as a kid and don't see them often. For dessert shared a candy-cap mushroom & walnut gelato. Yes - mushroom! Our server Natalie (delightful) was right when she said it was delicious. Tasted just like the Maple Nut ice cream I remember as a kid! The special red wine of the nite was perfect with our meal. I'd suggest you find your way to Bandon and don't forget to make reservations -you will need them!

Recently tried this restaurant while staying at the Bandon Dunes resort. Since the food at the resort was mediocre, we decided to venture in to town, and this restaurant was recommended by our caddie. Had I known about Allloro earlier, I would have been there several times during the week. Charming, small place. Great service. Interesting menu. And wonderful food. I started with the crab bisque soup. It was creamy, full of crab and had excellent flavor. My main course was the lamb. Falling-off-the-bone tender and flavorful. My wife had a salad of artichoke. spinach and radishes. Her main course was the shrimp pasta. She found both were excellent. Most of the ingredients were local (Oregon lamb and duck, local crab). For anyone staying at Bandon Dunes, I highly recommend this place over anything at the resort. And as another reviewer states, make a reservation, as the place is tiny and fills up fast.

Some of the best food in Bandon. We were sat promptly and ordered. I had the Osso Bucco and my sister had the pasta with the sausage. We are both from major metro areas and have eaten in many highly rated restaurants. This was top notch and the service was excellenet. I would definitely eat here again.

I highly recommend making reservations. We were here when it's not considered "high golf" season (starts in June and runs through November) and we made reservations well in advance and had no issues, We thought it was so good that we would try to go the next night but couldn't get in until after 8 PM. Our party of four shared a bottle of wine, a Pinot Noir from OR, of course. I had the crab bisque soup, the pistachio encrusted halibut and the white cake dessert (the name escapes me at the moment). The crab bisque is very rich and could be eaten as an entree if you weren't that hungry. The halibut and gnocchi with pea puree was wonderful. It was cooked to perfection and the gnocchi wasn't rubbery. The white cake dessert was also very tasty, although the slice was large enough to share with the whole table. It reminded me of strawberry shortcake. Not too sweet, a delicate balance between sweet, cream and tang. Others in our party had the salmon ("to die for"), the tempura veggies and the seafood delight (not sure the official name of the dish). Everyone was very pleased and happy with their food. Our server was wonderful and we were very happy with our experience at Alloro.

Do not pass go.... This place is a foodie favorite. We liked it so much we dined here two days in a row. I'm not going to suggest anything because everything is good. We even had a group conversation with the diners the second night raving about our food. Say no more.....go!

We spent the weekend in Bandon this time on our way up the coast, having just stopped here for lunch in the past. The harbor "Old Town" area is quaint and very touristy. With only two dinners in town, we tried Alloro as the second one, and we should have gone here first. It was by far the better of the two meals, both in terms of food quality and wait staff. The food was imaginatively prepared and the quality of ingredients was fairly good. The salmon wasn't caught that day, but was good. The lamb shank was strong tasting but tender. The only down was that my husband asked for different sides with his salmon, and made it clear that he was not asking for them in addition to the ones being offered. He was presented with the ones he asked not to get and the ones he wanted on another plate. That error should have been fixed in the kitchen before it was brought out. All in all, we'd highly recommend when you are in Bandon.

Fanciest place to eat in Bandon. The service is excellent and the dinner menu is small but delicious (appetizers, FRESH seafood, pastas, soups salads and steak). The prices seemed reasonable, around $15-20 per entree. With the ocean so close, I recommend any of their shellfish items. The restaurant is very small, so you'll want to make a reservation no matter what day of the week you plan on visiting.

Very good dinner, nice wine list, many wines came be ordered by the glass. Nice relaxing place for a very good meal with a nice glass of wine. Be sure and make a reservation, we were lucking to get in at 6:30 on a Monday night!

Had the crab salad. The best I have Ever had. Because well it was mostly crab, not bread crumbs and a bunch of fillers. And for the price of $13 a value. Both mom and I had the lasagna. It literally melted in your mouth. We shared a coconut cream pie for dessert. It also was Great. For a nice night out I felt it was good value or my dollar and in this economy that means alot! Pleasant service as well. If your flying solo, you can most likely find a spot at the wine bar on any given night.

The ambiance was intimate. Booths or tables for 2 or more are available. The wait staff was very friendly, knowledgable, and accommodating, My husband had a pasta dish with sausage and black truffles. I had the halibut in a lemon crab sauce. I had not read the menu carefully enough as I am allergic to crab. The waitress happily took the meal away and had the chef prepare the halibut again sans crab and lemon sauce. It was delicious. For dessert I had the Tiramisu. It was excellent but was a serving size enough for two. My husband had the raspberry sorbet which was very good as well. We felt badly about the halibut meal re-do and offered to pay, but the waitress would have none of it. We would highly recommend this eatery.

From beginning to end, this was a fabulous experience. My husband and I aren't real food snobs, but we like what we like and everything about our meals was memorable. Having stopped in Bandon on our way up the coast, we had no idea where to stop for dinner, so made somewhat of a random choice, based upon some google reviews (all good). Calling ahead to see if we needed reservations was key, since the dining room turned out to be an intimate room that fills quickly - so as a result there was no awkward wait at the door. The wait staff was professional and helpful and gave us just the right amount of time before approaching us. The seared tuna appetizer was a perfect start to the meal, with perfectly blended flavors of pepper, onion, tuna and basil. Wonderful. I had a Cali zin, which was amazing, and my husband had a local beer, which was also perfect. The entrees were delicious and really perfectly prepared. The rabbit, which was tender and delicious, came with carrots, beets and potatoes which perfectly complimented the rabbit. The steak was really delicious and we tried both the gorgonzola butter and white truffle oil, which were both so good! I had panna cotta for dessert and practically licked the plate, it was so good. The caramel sauce was rich, wonderful yum and the perfectly creamy texture of the custard was simply heaven. Like I said, we're not food snobs, just know what we like - and we liked Alloro - a lot. We'll be back.

Maybe I'm spoiled. Maybe I'm tired from a long day of driving. But, it was the first decent place we ran across in the small old-town part of Bandon. We were lazily greeted after we awkwardly stood at the door for a while...looking around for some direction. Upon seating, the waitress guided us towards appetizers, so we ordered several, foregoing full entrees. We went with the sea scallops and bacon, duck empanadas, the crab bisque and a salad. They were all fantastic- the bisque was among the best we've ever had. I took one star off because the wait staff was a bit rude. There was a point at which I mentioned I didn't need the desert menu, she responded with an "anyways..." and then turned to talk to my partner. (What was that?! we both wondered...) Anyways, it's fine- I guess it's a big fish/small pond thing. Cons: -Pretty much everything has dairy, meat, and/or gluten (all the veg options were pastas) in it. -Wait staff was there to do their job- good suggestions but not friendly (or even very nice for that matter). -A bit on the pricey side ($8 for a small caesar salad, $26 for salmon) Pros: -Decent food, nice wine list. -Nice ambiance- clean, some romantic booth seating in the back...(but then you're on the way to the bathrooms, so you see everyone walking by).

This restaurant is a huge waste of money. And I mean HUGE! Everything from the food to the decor/atmosphere to the service came off as mediocre and pretentious. Just because you shove a bunch of trendy flavors together doesn't actually make the food good. I could do without the truffle oil and vanilla scented food and just have someone actually cook something that is tasty and well put together. The decor is supposed to be artsy but it doesn't pull it off. It is just cramped. The service was adequate but pretentious. I also don't appreciate the wait staff phrasing their inquiry in a way that made it seem like the salad was part of the meal. Nope! Two $9 salads! That weren't even very good! They were overdressed and the dressing flavor was way too acidic and overpowering. All in all it was a dreadful night and I was absolutely appalled that it came with about $100 price tag. Skip this place!!!

Amazing food! We had an anti-pasta appetizer which was beautiful and delicious. The lasagna and lamb ragu pasta were both out of this world. But the climax was the dessert, which was a vanilla custard with an orange sambuca sauce and drizzled caramel. The portions are small sized so that you can get a dessert, which I'm glad we did! The price was not bad sticking with the pastas. Their entrees were about $20-$24 each. There were so many good looking choices. Although I don't drink wine, they seemed to have a nice variety of wines available. I would highly recommend a visit for dinner here! I know that I will definitely be going back as soon as I am able.

We eat here on our golf trips to bandon dunes. The food has never disappointed us. King salmon and halibut usually are on the menu this time of year. And I like the fact that they change the way they prepare them. Great bistro atmosphere and the service is good. I would not call this Italian although they serve pasta. It is a wine bistro imho

We had been here several years before and had actually made reservations in Bandon in order to return to this restaurant, not because it's the best food in Oregon (or even on the coast) but because the small town feeling and care that is offered here makes it worth a return. We arrived in town around 5:45pm and were told that we better make a reservation because the golfers were in town from the nearby golf course and the place would fill up quickly. We were told at the restaurant that we could have a table in the back room (which was currently empty) at 7pm or a table in the front at 8:30pm. The back room seemed a bit dark and secluded but we decided to go with that anyway. We were glad when we returned to be in the back room because it was noticably quieter and by the time we were ready to leave (around 9pm), the room was empty except for us. The wine flights that so impressed us on our first trip were gone so I was a bit worried. However, we tried the two wines recommended on the chalk board, both French, and enjoyed them both (one was a Chenin Sec the other a Cotes du rhone). The white Chenin Sec was excellent, crisp but fruity, minerally but also with some body. I almost ordered a second class which is rare for a white. The Cotes de Rhone was good but not as exceptional as the white. We were intrigued by the menu and had a hard time deciding what to order: we wanted local (surprisingly, there were very few local wine choices on the glasses menu or we would have had local wine as well). The menu included local dungeness crab. The halibut was Alaskan, we weren't sure about the salmon. There was also rabbit and steak. While we mulled these choices over, we started with a piquillo pepper appetizer: the small, sweet red peppers were lightly roasted (I think) and filled with smoked salmon, cubed potatoes and some kind of cheese. We had mixed feelings about these. at first, it seemed as if the salmon was overpowering the peppers but then after a few bites they seemed more balanced. The little squares of potato were just strange and probably could have been left out. These peppers sat on butter lettuce in a very light vinaigrette. But I loved the flavor of these. The olive oil the restaurant uses is very tasty and a bit spicy, so I liked everything with that oil on it (including the sourdough bread in the basket which I normally don't eat). What next? Crab bisque? crab and avocado salad? More dithering led us to select the duck empanadas. We found these to be excellent. We are not empanada fans: too much greasy, soggy tasteless pastries in the past. But these pastries were crisp and flavorful, almost as if they'd been baked. The filling was shredded duck, olive and raisins but the predominant flavor was the duck complimented by the fantastic cranberry ancho sauce (I hunted through town the next day to see if I could find this sauce for sale--it was excellent). We finally decided on a bowl of the crab bisque--best choice of the night. The bisque was excellent and startingly full of sweet crab meat. The soup had a slighly nutty and fish broth taste with a smooth cream base (very rich). I think a acidic white wine would have complimented in nicely while also cutting the cream. After savoring every bite of the soup and wiping the bowl clean with more of that lovely sour dough bread, we turned to the mains and ended up ordering a caesar salad (with dressing on the side), orrecchiette pasta with a italian sausage ragu and truffle oil and a side of green beans wrapped in proscuitto. The ceasar salad came dressed (and, as usual, way over dressed) but the waitress noticed almost immediately and whisked it away to return quickly with an undressed version. The salad was fresh and crisp but nothing exciting. The pasta was surprisingly flavorful. When it arrived, I thought "Oh no" dry and boring. But, it was made in the italian way with a very light, but very flavorful sauce that was tasty in every bite and light on the oil. The green beans were disappointing. The salty flavor of the proscuitto was dull, and I'm not sure why. It seems like the beans needed to be quickly boiled in some salty water to add a bit of life to them. They weren't bad, but they lacked the powerful smoky, salty flavor I expected. I would rate the food as really good, but again, we had come here for the experience and we were more than happy with that. We like to eat slowly, to drink our wine slowly and to not feel rushed. Our waitress was completely on board with that, returning occassionally to make sure we were doing okay but not hovering and not making us feel like we better order soon. She was also very friendly and seemed to like her job, without being ingratiating or pretentious (nothing about the place is pretentious. the wait staff all wears black and mostly carries itself professionally--one water filler person seemed nervous). Great experience.

This is one of the most authentic Italian restaurants. The meal wasn't heavy like Italian food tends to be at restaurants and very full of flavor. It was a small place but felt quite spacious. It seemed a little out of the way but totally worth the trip. I would recommend spending the day in Bandon and ending it with a lovely dinner at Alloro.

Four of us ate at Alloro Monday night. Both the food and service were excellent. I had the halibut which was cooked excellently with a nice crisp crust. Even though Alloro shows up as an Italian restaurant, I would put it more in the seafood category. They have a nice wine list and we chose the Acrobat, an Oregon Pinot Gris from King Estate that we all enjoyed and complemented the entrees well.

The place is very tiny and they tried to sit me by the wall, where I hit it every time so we asked to move and ended up in the back room. I had the rabbit which was very good. We also shared duck empanadas, soup, salad, and dessert all which were very good.

Alloro is small, quaint, and charming, reminiscent of the kind of unassuming restaurants one encounters unexpectedly while traveling in rural Italy. They describe their restaurant as being "inspired by the modern Italian enoteca" (wine library). The wait staff are welcoming and knowledgeable; ask them for their recommendations. The wine list appears to be carefully selected and quite sophisticated, with high quality throughout, and a nice mix of American and Italian varietals. The menu is a combination of pasta choices and entrees shaped and influenced by local Oregon ingredients and its location in the seaside port town of Bandon. The menu changes frequently, but our most recent meal began with two appetizers: prosciutto-wrapped asparagus seared with a balsamic reduction and plated on grilled polenta; and Dungeness crab piled high and surrounded with avocado slices, lime, tomato, and scallion. Portions for both appetizers were generous. The asparagus wrapped in prosciutto was particularly well prepared, with the asparagus nicely seared and the prosciutto crispy. We chose the red leaf with blue salad, which comes with Dijon mustard dressing, thin apple slices, walnut pieces, and a soft blue cheese. The greens were fresh, and all the apple slices nicely complemented the hunks of blue cheese. For the entree, we had Alaskan halibut and duck breast. The halibut was topped with thinly sliced Yukon Gold potatoes and was accompanied with a sauce of smoked paprika, sweet bell peppers, peas, a generous number of clams, and a decorative sprig of thyme. The thick halibut fillet was properly cooked throughout, not overcooked at the thinner ends nor undercooked in the thicker center, and was delightfully flaky, moist, and nicely textured. The duck breast was truly outstanding. Pan roasted and accompanied by cranberry-cherry salsa, and wild rice topped with hazelnut pieces, the breast was wrapped, baked and cut in the style of a tenderloin, remaining very tender in the center of each piece. The staff recommendation off the dessert menu was the Baked Bandon, a variation of a Baked Alaska with white cake and hazlenut icecream surrounded by a meringue shell that was quite a treat in its own right. The other dessert was a panna cotta with strawberries, smooth, creamy, and subtly flavored. The service staff were pleasant, prompt, and available without intruding or hovering. Total cost for two with wine and sparkling water: $100. However, it is quite possible to eat here much more cheaply. The pasta plates are in the $10 range and could be paired with a $7 salad for a nice meal under $20. Afterwards, you can take a stroll down to the Bandon marina or harbor, watch the seals, and take pictures of the historic Bandon lighthouse, which is situated across the Coquille River from Old Town Bandon. All in all, a delightful way to spend an evening.

Maybe it was an off night but the food was bland and boring. They cater to the golfers and the 15 of them in this tiny space gave me an awful headache..way too noisy for me

This little restaurant is delicious! It's a must try if you are in Bandon! The oysters were super fresh and the crab bisque was awesome. My boyfriend and I both got the Seafood Stew and it was unbelievable. They had wonderful service and a great wine list.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
