We come to Elmer's often for breakfast, the only thing I don't care for is the coffee, it's very strong, to the point where sugar and a tone of creamer won't make it drinkable. How about a lighter roast choice please..

Good solid "road trip" dining. A step up from Denny's and almost equal to Black Bear Diner, Elmer's is a little more homey and has more variety on their menu. We saw all the road signs along hwy 5 for "Elmer's" and on the long drive home from Beaverton, so we decided a good hot breakfast was in order. When we arrived (about 5am) the diningroom was empty and we were seated by a cozy fireplace, brought coffee (in those big white chunky mugs!) and menus. The decor was a kind of farmhouse rooster theme but in a cute way, not tacky at all. Our waiter, a very nice not-so-young man was attentive and friendly (EVERYONE in Oregon is so damn friendly!) and not intrusive so early in the morning. Beware before I've had my first cuppa. Our food came quickly and there was a lot of it. I ordered the standard bacon, eggs, and home potatoes that also came with a HUGE and delicious buttermilk biscuit the size of my fist. It was nice to have the place to ourselves to discuss the day ahead in quiet. By the time we left a half dozen more of the tables were filled with other "road warriors" like us and maybe a few truck drivers. True Americana!!! Elmer's is exactly what it is and doesn't pretend to anything else: traditional, American, diner food. 99% of the time we stay away from these types of places but when you're on the road and there isn't much choice at 5am, this is the place to go. I'd definitely go back on our next trip. Thanks for a great breakfast Elmer.

We waited over 5 minutes for somebody to acknowledge us, and then were finally seated. The food was okay, nothing special. I remembered why I don't go there, this will be the last time I visit this location.

Supremely satisfying. Being a bodybuilder i decided to get their hungry man breakfast. If filled me to satisfaction and tasted great too. Bacon was crispy and thick which is VERY important to me, scrambled eggs were good, hash browns, sausage, biscuit was obviously not home made but everything else was perfect. Service was quick and with a warm smile. Definitely going back.

This location is adequate. It took awhile to be greeted at the door and our waitress had tables on opposite sides of the restaurant. (Poor Girl). I had a sandwich and it was good. I usually gauge Elmer's on breakfast but this day was an exception.

Good food. Solid service. The pot roast was a little salty. But overall not bad. Nothing spectacular, just good.

Very nice breakfast with pleasant service. Clean restaurant and nice atmosphere. We stopped here at 6am on a Saturday morning. The place was empty and did not get any more customers until 7am. Breakfast came quickly and the waitress was very attentive.

Very impressed with our experience overall. The service was efficient and nice overall. We ordered their prime rib and are pleased with the quality and value. Grass fed beef, quality vegetables and ingredients for a fair price was what sold me on the prime rib. My only minor gripe if anything is that only tables of four or more get a bread basket. The restaurant was very clean and servers were all very nice and pleasant. Wish we have something like this in Cali and will definitely come back since we just moved here.

Always a good choice, when your hungry. They have a very tasty spinach omelet. When I'm in the mood for an omelet, Elmers is usually my first choice.

An upscale version of a diner or pancake house. I ordered chicken fried steak that came with baked potato and fresh veggies. You can tell the ingredients are all local to PNW as they say and everything tastes really good. Gravy was good but I would have loved more of it. Clam chowder was very good.

Yes, I died and went to HEAVEN. My husband came here before for his Crabacado Omelet. He brought me here and I got the Dungeness Crab Benedict. And we shared the two dishes! They were fabulous!!! Both included the smokehouse bacon! Both had big chunks of dungeness crab! My crab Benedict was PERFECT. The egg was poached the way it's supposed to be! The sauce was YUM! I can't call it simply delicious because Benedicts are complicated... but it was SO delicious. I kinda felt bad that I had to share it with my husband. :-). But then again, he shared his Crabacado with me! The eggs were still fluffy and also stuffed liberally with fresh crab and avocado... but the bacon took it over the top!!! Oh, and the biscuits were super yummy too and I am not much of a bread fan. We are coming back on the way to California! Service was great and bathrooms were clean!

Elmers has fantastic customer service. The food was delicious and the service was fast. We came in with car issues, and were very well taken care of by everybody in the restaurant. I would highly recommend elmers to anybody in Albany!

We took my 87 year old mother in-law to her favorite restaurant for lunch today. The food was good (I had a 1/2 sandwich and soup) and the service couldn't have been better. My mother in-law thoroughly enjoyed the outing. We were pleased at how accommodation they were to an old woman with a walker! The reason they only get 4 out of 5 stars is because my sandwich had too much mayo.

Stopped by here while on a road trip for dinner and had the small protion pot roast. It was really yummy and fairly filling! The pre-dinner biscuits were delicious plus the service was really nice! All-in-all it was worth the stop.

Love this place! The staff are very friendly, the food delicious and the place is very clean. German Pancakes, Chicken Fried Steaks and the Prime Rib dinners are a few of my favorite things. Plus the French Fries are wonderful, can't get enough of them.

How do I rate Elmer's? Usually I rate a restaurant not on quality but what is it supposed to be. For instance, Kevin's in Lebanon I rated higher than Gametime, not because Kevins is better, but because it exceeded my expectations while Gametime didn't live up to them. As such I typically start by assuming every restaurant is 5 stars and dock stars off for failing to live up to what I assume it promises. Elmer's is a bit of conundrum in that regard. The service was decent. The waitress kept our coffee cups filled. She was friendly and patient with my wife and I and our five children. The food was a little pricey. My plate of eggs, hash browns, sausage, and bacon was about $10. This didn't seem outrageous, but it didn't seem like a deal either. In fact, upon reflection I have to knock Elmer's here. Shari's, Denny's and the like do offer menu options at the $5 - $6 mark, but nothing at Elmer's seems to be below $9. The menu offers more items in the $10 - $15 price range than not. This may not be a big deal for your average couple, but for me, who has five children, the bill adds up quick. For the record, a place like Shari's may offer a waffle for $5.50 but it won't come with eggs or meat. Elmer's offers eggs and meat with the waffle, you just don't have an option to not purchase them. The food was brought out hot and exactly as pictured. The hash browns were not overly greasy. The bacon was crisp but not burnt. The eggs came unseasoned but salt, pepper, Tabasco, & Ketchup were provided. It was very satisfying but not overly delicious. So Elmer's is exactly as promised. A local chain, lots of breakfast, medium prices, friendly service, and comfy seating. It was exactly as promised. Yet, the more think about it, the more I think it exceeds what it should be. Better food and cleaner than Denny's. Ditto compared to a Bob Evans. Compared to other restaurants in Elmers' league, Elmer's wins! If you're hungover, eat here. If you need a casual breakfast, eat here. If you want waffles, eat here. If you have kids, eat here. If your wallet is a little light, try someplace a little sketchier.

Solid 4 stars for this level of food. You can tell this place is decent all around as it's crawling with the 65+ crowd and family's with children-that always = a great value. Large portions, friendly attentive staff, affordable prices and a decent decor. Bonus-It was also nice and quiet. Worth the stop in a town with just average options.

Last night after finishing up at HR Block we walked to Elmers Albany OR for dinner. A couple in their 40s or 50s had a mobile phone ON SPEAKER and they were talking to this woman about "stuff" and it was loud and they were talking extra loud so they can be heard over speaker phone. I was very polite and told them "My wife and I would like to enjoy our dinner, could you finish your call or take it outside" This was after I complained to Elmers about it and the waiter just shrugged his shoulders. I felt someone had to say something. 2 minutes later the guy comes over to our table in a rage, saying I have some nerve, the woman's father was in the hospital and needed some support etc. He then shouted if he was a Hells Angel he would slit my throat. The manager came out "Jill" and tried to calm him down, I said he is threatening my life and may call 911. The waiter asked if we would like to move to another table... we said no, we will just go.. and we left. The guy also said Elmers GAVE HIM PERMISSION to speak over the speaker phone and he was not being rude. I don't think I can recommend Elmer's anymore and we used to go there about 1x a month. We wound up going to Pop's.

My husband and I used to go often to Elmer's because the food was decent, predictable, and we could feed our family of six for not-too-much. Something changed in recent past, and they aren't as good as they used to be. I would normally excuse the disappointing meals with "oh, they're just having a super busy day today" or something similar, but after several not-so-awesome meals I guess it's their new normal. Breakfast this morning was but one example. I ordered their "Looking for the Sun" omelette, supposed to be filled with bacon, cheese, salsa and green onion. Served with hash browns and a biscuit. We also ordered coffee. When the meals were delivered, they looked nice on the plate, but my serving of hash browns was very small, smaller than I'm accustomed to getting, and a lot smaller than the serving on my husband's plate. The egg in my omelette was very flat, dry, and rubbery. An omelette should feature fluffy, soft eggs. An omelette should be well-filled, this one had plenty of bacon but I opened it and took it apart and could not find much evidence of cheese or salsa. I've had this dish before, it used to come with generous slices of avocado and a nice dollop of sour cream. This one had about a teaspoon worth of sour cream, and one thin slice of avocado. For a $10 meal, I expect a little better than I got. I can go to Denny's and do better, and that's not saying much. Our server did not come back to check on us, ask us how our food was, nor did she refill our coffee after she had delivered our food. She walked by our table many times, it took her a while to get our check. Not very attentive at all. With not many choices in town for a good breakfast, my list is now one smaller. I won't be going back to Elmer''s.

I use to eat breakfast here all the time with my family and we decided to start that tradition again and celebrate my sisters birthday here. We grabbed some breakfast to start off our day. I love how they have a fireplace and it feels just home. I can't remember what I got exactly, but it was a big omlette with ham, mushroom and bell pepper and it comes with hash browns on the side. One thing that I won't forget is the POTATO PANCAKES! It was my first time having that because my little sister ordered it and it was delish! I believe it's was a traditional German breakfast and it was very good. Everyone loved it and I will come back to get that next time. This was definitely a heavy breakfast because of all the carb, but it definitely better than Denny's if you willing to pay a little extra.

We drove up from CA to OR to help some friends move and get away for a weekend, and we had breakfast here on Saturday. All I can say is, "Dutch Baby!!" The food is so good. Huge plates and very yummy breakfast items. I had the Dutch Baby which is sort of like a crepe with powdered sugar and you squeeze lemon over it. I've also had this before where it was called Swedish pancakes. I'm not sure the true name, but whatever you call it, it's yummy! My hubby had the blueberry pancakes, their signature dish, and that was equally delish. Our friends got the cinnamon swirl french toast and.... wow! Yum! We saw a very old lady sitting next to us eating something that resembled a waffle with a huge scoop of ice cream and berries on top... yes. I know... Anyway, if you're not on a diet and in the mood for some rib-sticking breakfast, this is the place for you!
