Food was excellent and unique! It supercedes anything negative ;) Sushi and breakfast at the same time is fun-- eggs Benedict were perfect!

Great sushi in the downtown area! We had fresh cut rolls and some absolutely killer nigiri, and washed it down with some ice cold Japanese beer. The genuine (read: fresh) sushi was excellent, but I can't speak for the cooked rolls, as I've never been much of a fan. Came here with a late dinner reservation for two on a Saturday night. It was packed, and from our tiny table in the middle of a high traffic area of the restaurant it did feel pretty claustrophobic. Service was decent, if slow, but the food more than made up for it. I'm a CA native, so I'm not easily impressed when it comes to sushi, but for a few hours Yokozuna made me forget how tragically landlocked we were. That's how good it is. Food: 5/5 Drinks: 4/5 (Would be 5/5 if they offered happy hour specials) Service: 3/5 Cleanliness: 4/5 Decor & Style: 4/5

I found this place on yelp and it was walking distance from my hotel. Great atmosphere and the sushi was delish. I tried the pub roll and of course the hot mess. I would add that I originate from Chicago and this was better than some places I have at home. Tulsa may be known for BBQ but this was a nice pick to get acquainted with the area and people. The service was great.

Great food always with ultra chic environment and did I mention the sushi was to die for, had the caterpillar roll and the nutty professor roll were awesome. And ask for Laurel she was awesome.

This wasn't a typical sushi stop for me so not a favorite personally but that doesn't mean it was bad. The gyozas were strange spicy version that was unique and the cooked steak rolls that we tried were also different. They accommodated gluten free options into all of our orders which was nice so we could share but it did mean that our order took forever!

Not the best sushi I have had. It is one of those places you read about in articles that say, how to spot fake sushi restaurants. They are downtown, so I get talked into going here often. The food is good, but not great. Service is not good, but again just convenient. More of a place to be seen.

The sushi was great. Nicely set with a great presentation. Waitresses was attentive. Lots of GF choices - even in the tempura items! We waited a good 30 minutes for the food though. I'm not sure if that is normal. It was worth the wait though.

My coworkers introduced me to this place on Friday, during a busy lunch hour. The seating is cozy and casual and hip. The servers know what they are doing and they do it with grace and a smile. I'm a novice to sushi and they answered my questions without making me feel ignorant. The Friday visit was so nice I took my wife to lunch there on Saturday. She was very impressed. I don't remember the names of our dishes but they were awesome and delicious. You've gained two more repeat customers!

Yokozuna is a fun and hip place to go for sushi downtown. The food is very good and the atmopshere makes it one of my favorite places to go in Tulsa. The servers are always friendly and they definitely have an artsy vibe. I'm definitely not a sushi expert so I can't say too much about the variety here. I have had the shrimp tempura and spicy scallop rolls; both of which were very good. Additionally, they have a good selection of rice/noodle dishes, salads, etc. Their menu indicates which items are gluten free and they offer gluten free soy sauce as well. One of the best aspects of Yokozuna is the fun cocktail menu. I always appreciate a place in Tulsa with a dedicated cocktail menu. My favorite is the Tokyo Tiger, which tastes something like a Moscow Mule. The drinks are definitely over priced but that's probably the only bad thing I can say about this place.

I went to Yokozuna because my daughter loves their sushi. I wasn't thrilled about the choice, but obliged because I love my daughter. ;) I had the fish tacos with a side of sweet potatoes. Incredible, y'all! I've had a lot of fish tacos. Some were average, some were above average and some were below average. These were off the chart! Not even to be compared to other lowly fish tacos that I have had in the past. All other fish tacos that I eat in the future will be judged against these wonderful babies. The kicker here was the wasabi mayo...liquid gold! I can't even describe the deliciousness of this. The sweet potato fries were dipped in a tempura batter and fried. Take these and dip them in the wasabi mayo and your taste buds will do the most awesome happy dance of their life! Get this dish before you die. Put it on your bucket list now. Immediately. That means now. You're welcome!

If you're expecting good sushi in Tulsa.. Good luck... But this is one of the few places I've actually been impressed! The service isn't the best, thank goodness all the servers helped each other out or we would probably still be sitting there waiting for our server to bring us our drinks. I didn't try it but another guest highly recommended the ramen but said the spicy one was very very spicy!

I've dined at Yokozuna 3 times now & every time I really enjoyed the food. I usually go around lunch time, but never had a problem getting a table. Edamame for appetizer is always a good choice. I've had a number of their rolls & even though I can't list them all, I've never been disappointed. The service is friendly 2 of the 3 times I was there. The most recent time was around 4:00 PM & there wasn't hardly anyone in there, but for some reason it took forever just to get drinks. Good sushi, pretty good service, nice atmosphere. Give it a shot.

Ok!! We stumbled across this restaurant and was blown away. I had the best Ika salad in a long time. The nigri was fresh, however I would have liked my tako a little more cooked. I enjoyed all 3 rolls: Nutty Thai Professor, blue dome, and pub roll. Yes, I did notice a lot of imitation crab stuff, however the uniqueness of the other rolls made up for it. After hearing the reviews about the Hot Mess, we should have tried that one (we will get that one next time). Service was great. We went on a Tuesday evening and had no trouble with finding a table.

We got to eat right away. I enjoyed their sushi and other Asian cuisine. It was definitely not traditional but more of an Asian fusion sorta restaurant. With that said, the food was GREAT! It would be a place that we would come back when we are back in Tulsa!

Came here on a busy Friday night fairly late in the evening. The menu has an impressive selection of sushi rolls of which I tried the pub roll and the route 66 roll. They were both delicious! The pub roll came with this super yummy wasabi mayo sauce. For dessert, we had moshi balls (we tried one strawberry, one green tea, and one red bean) and they were so much tastier than I expected. In addition, the presentation was great and perfect for splitting with someone. Though I will be back to try more items on the menu, I was a little disappointed with the service.

Cool sushi place in downtown Tulsa. No happy hour on drinks, only food. Had a couple of the happy hour rolls, the hot mess is the best one, soo good.

Food is amazing, service is what makes this rating be a 3 star rating. IT TAKES FOREVER, every time without fail. However, I still come back time and time again. The sushi is top notch, interesting twists on every roll. Great for everyday dinner or a date night.

I did not start eating sushi until 2006 but let me say I am so glad I did! Yokozuna (Downtown Location) is by far my most favorite place to grab a roll or 2. The ambiance is awesome. Perfect for special occasions/date night/or dinner before a fun night out on the town. I am pretty picky when it comes to my rolls.. but Yokozuna always knows how to make me happy. I usually ge a roll with eel & by default they usually come with avacado. They allow me to sub cream cheese at no extra cost or hassle. Wash all that down with a sapparo and call it good! Just typing this is making me want some sushi! YUMMO

We were hoping for a quick dinner but the food (hot mess, roasted red, shitake mushroom rolls, pad thai) took forever (over 30 minutes) to come out. Waitress didn't even bother to check in or advise us that it should be coming soon/apologize for the wait. Honestly, I don't think I'll be back unless I crave for some pad thai.

Yoko. This is the international (by international, I mean tulsan) text for Yokozuna. Just the very thought of coming here or the idea of "yoko" right now makes my mouth water. This is my number one in my top three sushi places in town. I recommend "the Hot Mess." They also have a large selection of drinks to choose from the menu including saki. I love the ambience and if you sit by the window you will have a radiant view of downtown. They have a happy hour that offers selected sushi half price and well as appetizers. Yes!! Downfall- I always bear in mind that there is a slight wait for the food, even if you have already been seated. Go there and have drink, relax with friends and munch on edamame while you wait. The soup is great as well.

I've been to Yokozuna a few times now, and there is always something about the place that just seems a little off to me. For one, the servers are not very accommodating. This past visit I ordered sweet potato fries with my sushi roll, and my waiter refused to bring them out to me at the same time, and insisted the fries would be soggy if he waited to bring them out with my sushi. Plus, most all of the rolls have imitation crab in them, which in my opinion doesn't belong in high quality sushi. However, I would say that their half priced rolls at happy hour are a much better deal, and I might go to Yokuzuna again just for the half priced rolls.

I got the Golden Driller roll this time around & it was ok, especially compared to the Hot Mess. I think it was the texture but it was still tolerable for me to enjoy the whole roll. There are two more that I plan on trying: Nutty Thai Professor & Flaming Volcano.

  • Maya K.

Let's get real. Tulsa is not where you think when it comes to sushi. But as far as sushi goes, Yokozuna is in my top 3. I usually go to the South location but for lunch downtown is so easy. I always try to sit at the bar because I always have an awesome time talking to the bartenders. Table service has been iffy occasionally but I still love it here. I recommend the flaming volcano or the hot mess. The golden driller is always a staple for me. The dilly roll and the nutty Thai professor are also fantastic... actually I can go ahead and name the rest of the menu. I haven't had a roll yet that I didnt love. Little known fact... there is a hidden brunch menu so ask for that :)

  • Sofia L.

While my daughter and I really enjoyed the "Hot Mess" sushi roll and the chocolate torte for dessert, the other rolls (Golden Driller and Dilly) were lackluster, the Ginger Spice cocktail was way too sweet, and the service was also pretty awful; only one soy sauce dish for the table, no concept of multi-tasking, and it took 15 minutes to get the check! The female bartender made quite a show of slamming things around-very unnecessarily noisy in the open space. $5 parking is your only option. We would come back for the Hot Mess... TO GO!

I go for the spicy mayo. Everyone has their favorite sushi places in Tulsa. I've tried a bunch of places. By no means all of them, but most of them in Tulsa. Yokozuna has the best spicy mayo out of all of them by far. It has just the right amount of chili powder added or something. It definitely stands out for me. The rolls themselves are very innovative and delicious. It is among some of the freshest I've tasted. Some days it's better than others. I like getting a spicy tuna hand roll and then splitting one of the larger rolls with someone. The Roll -n- Gift is my favorite. I haven't been disappointed by any of the other dishes either. The Pork Belly Ramen is great. The General Tso's chicken is excellent. The strip is very nice. But the sushi is the star at Yokozuna.

Ok, for nearly $20, you can get the Chicken Ramen and a cup of Miso soup. Yep. $20. The noodles tasted just like the ramen noodles you can get out of the cheap $1 packets that most Army soldiers have experienced once or twice in their life. (who am I kidding? Our unit had closets full of those things). There was absolutely no seasoning to the noodles (you seriously don't have to use salt to season everything so SOMETHING for flavor would have been nice). Completely bland. Barely any seasoning on the TINY chicken breast. A couple of cilantro leaves and lettuce leaf with a lime wedge to round out the meal. Oh! Wait! and a sliver of scallion. Almost didn't see it. The soup? Ok but nothing I haven't made (much better) at home. Lesson learned. I will not forget my dinner when I work my night shift anymore. This was ridiculous. Oh! and really? No chopsticks? But thanks for the extra plastic utensils.

I have ate at Yokozuna a couple of times... because I could not get to my usual sushi house. With that being said, their service there is less than what should be expected. The waiters are snobby and they are too busy in the back area. The food the first time I ate their was not all it was hyped up to be. The second time, I actually found a roll I enjoyed. However, this will never be my first go to selection - I will go here again... only if there is no other choice.

Seems their service has become better. Our order was out on time and was well presented. The quality was good also.

Came here for the sushi. Had opentable reservation and was greeted by a happy and energetic hostess. Waitress was helpful and provided good info/insight about the menu. Had a couple of rolls including the "chef's choice". Was pretty good. Friendly staff and good food. Perhaps I've been to too many sushi joints though. I say this because although everything was good, nothing seemed amazingly excellent. I'd actually go 3.5 stars but not an option here. The prices were fair and they have a HH. Might need to check that out. I would return if in a sushi mood. I'm not from Tulsa but my guess is this is the top sushi place. Very trendy environment.

I made reservations here through my Open Table app, which I highly recommend, for me and my wife tonight as we start our tour of downtown restaurants we've never been to. We were greeted warmly and promptly given a table even though we arrived 15 minutes early and they were clearly busy. All the service we received was good except, oddly, for the service we received from our waitress. She never introduced herself and didn't welcome us in anyway - things that I find to be common courtesy. Her first sentence to us was "what do you want to drink?" in a flat, emotionless voice. She spoke in the same manner throughout our visit, never smiling and sometimes talking so low we had to ask her to repeat herself. Maybe she was going for the whole 'geisha' thing - to be seen and not heard. Idk... Like I said, though, the other staff we interacted with were pleasant. My wife and I ordered drinks first - the Hello Sumo, Hello Kitty for her (because it was fruity and strong) and the Catalina Wine Mixer for me (because I make my decisions based on pop culture references). We enjoyed them. We both ordered the General Tso's Chicken as our entree and were equally displeased with it. The chili sauce was waaay too salty, and there was waaay too much of it. Our fried rice was practically swimming in it. Needless to say we barely picked at our bowls. The sushi, though! It was delicious. We got a Hot Mess roll and a Golden Driller roll. As the name would suggest there's a lot going on with the Hot Mess, but the components work so well together. And the Golden Driller is nice and spicy. At the happy hour prices it felt like we were getting a steal. Overall I wasn't blown away. Admittedly I might have had my expectations set too high. I'd go back, but only for happy hour sushi and only if I got a different server.

Sushi in landlocked Tulsa? Yes! I've lived in the NYC and Boston areas and this place competes just fine. I order the salmon sashimi at each place to test the freshness and richness of the fish. Is there a Clorox/chlorine flavor? Not here, not tonight! Meaty and relatively fresh, it was. We ordered the Blue Dome, Hot Mess, and Nutty Thai (something) rolls. All good, spicy, and delicious. I had two different cocktails. Both were very nice. If I lived here, I'd make it a semi-regular stop. I was a little surprised by the price: 3 adults ordering 2 miso soups, 2 salads, three rolls, 5 piece sashimi, and 6 drinks = $113 pre tax.

I was looking for a place to eat in Tulsa. I checked this place out because of yelp. The place is in downtown and you can't miss this joint. The interior is amazing, definitely looks like a traditional sushi restaurant. I ordered the volcano sushi, I was a little scared to taste this because the title states volcano but it wasn't that hot. You get a small pile of sushi with a ton of sauce. This plate was really good and tasty. Some of the sushi was hard to get to because they were all in a pile. Overall a great experience! Definitely check out the happy hour, I went during lunch time and it was a little pricy. I spent $40 for two people and my friend didn't receive much for the price. Due to the price and what was received I lowered the rating.

Really good food...really slowly. We sat at the bar (service was great) and ordered some sushi, had some beers, and got some take out. We were literally one of three parties in the entire place and yet the sushi took a long time. We ordered one roll. I loved the roll, but was really glad to be at the bar drinking to pass the time. We will go again because of the food. But make sure you allow more than ample time.

this is my favorite sushi place in tulsa. great location, plenty of options for those who do and don't like sushi, fun atmosphere, and yummy food. the service here can be pretty hit or miss. I feel like I am always having to ask for my check. so keep that in mind. but you should definitely come here! you won't be disappointed.

I was just in Tulsa for a weekend with my husband, and we ate here TWICE during that time, once for supper and once for brunch with family. The food is still wonderful, the service friendly and professional, the atmosphere friendly and fun. For the evening, I had a rainbow roll and the chocolate cake. I also tried the "white samurai" cocktail, which was delicious! For brunch, I went with the lemony dilly roll, a salmon and cream-cheese and asparagus roll with dill and a lemon aioli that was perfectly fresh and tasty. My cousins had the eggs Benedict and were pleased as well. My husband ordered the grilled salmon both times and loved it. My cousin and I even "won" sake shots in our fortune cookies! It's wonderful to revisit a place years later and have it be just as delicious and delightful as you remember it. Go to Yokozuna!

Yellowfin Sashimi tasted like the ocean (in the best way). I was very impressed. For dinner I went off cue and chose the mahi-mahi tacos with tempura sweet potatoes. It was a lot of food, but I really enjoyed it. Next time I would go for the corn tortillas instead of the flour.

Sushi - 500 miles from the closest ocean - I was skeptical... AND I WAS PROVEN DEAD WRONG!! Yokozuna is one of my favorite Tulsa hot-spots. After just one visit I am a huge fan. I have ventured to the corners of the earth and dined at the worlds "finest" sushi bars. After my trip to Yokozuna I have added them to that list of BEST-in-Class! Talk about fresh - the fish must have been swimming moments before it was brought to my table. I think I even saw my tuna jump once or twice! haha The flavors were out of this world. 99% of what we had was Sashimi. The only roll we had was a chefs choice - and it was just that: CHOICE. I don't think I have ever had a sushi roll that was as good as what the chefs made. It was the perfect balance of spice, flavor, color and presentation (a picture of this roll set is included; just look for the pic I submitted). I won't go on and on - just trust me you aren't going to find sushi better than this in Tokyo. Our server was great. Attentive, friendly and willing to put up with an indecisive couple. One of us was a sushi pro (guilty) and my friend was somewhat new to how its done... our server worked with us to ensure we got exactly what we wanted and maybe more so prevent us from getting what we didn't want. The menu is great. Plenty to choose from. Sushi, Sashimi, Rolls, and "other" for those people who like to order chicken or whatever at a sushi bar (weirdos). The saki menu is equally wonderful as is their beer and cocktail menu. Seriously, if you're living in Tulsa or just visiting you needn't look further for a place to dine on GREAT sushi - get some great cocktails and have a wonderful time. And; if you're really cool, you can ask about the "magic 8-ball." Just sayin ;)

I went for lunch last time I was visiting Tulsa. I sat at the sushi bar and enjoyed the sushi immensely. The size of each piece of fish on the nigiri menu was generous indeed. Totally recommend this place!

Delicious! Better than any of the MANY sushi places I've had in Arkansas. Took a few minutes for a server to get to us but once she did, wonderful service! We got the sweet potato fries because of a suggestion on a yelp review... They were too greasy and too "fried" if that makes sense. The chef forgot to leave the jalapeños out of my roll so it took a few for me to pick them out but the flaming volcano roll was delicious!

This is one of the first places I went to for sushi when I moved to Tulsa. They have great food, service, and drinks. The restaurant is always clean and has a great atmosphere for dinner as well as a place to go to after you have had a few drinks and need a little snack. They have great specials after 9pm and there is always seating no matter when I go so I dont have to wait. I recently went here again for my birthday dinner and had about 12 people with me. The seating we had was great and more private so we were able to all talk to one another. They had great desserts for me on my birthday and the sake bombs again were amazing! Not sure if I would go here again for dinner, but for a late night snack and sake bomb this place is great! The price for the food you get here is not worth it and the portions for their entrees is so small that it looks like a half serving. If you are looking to try this place out, going during their happy hour would be the best time so you are not stuck paying the high prices.

Great atmosphere. Seriously. Random note: The restrooms weren't too hard to find themselves, but I did get confused by the stall doors! It really just looked like a wall but there were two handles on it. The lock was interesting too, but at least it works! :) Just thought I'd throw that bit in there. I wanted to have hot green tea, but was given three flavors of "green tea" which made me think I wouldn't like whatever I picked. So I played it safe and just had a Dr. Pepper. For dinner itself, I ended up just getting the Philly Roll as I wasn't wanting to be adventurous with my sushi. The problem was that I found the rice to be rather...slimy or gooey, so I didn't care for it. The fish also seemed off somehow and, by the luck of the draw, I found something that felt like bone in one of my pieces! I decided to be a little more adventurous and ordered green tea mochi as I've never had it before and I love green tea ice cream. The mochi was quite good, tasted exactly like the ice cream, but definitely different. There was a dough-ness to it, which was expected. Overall, I was pleased with dessert. The waitress gave us all fortune cookies with the receipts and I'm glad I opened mine! I received a free shot of sake! It ended up coming out to the table cold, but it ended up being fine. I've only had sake once before, and I didn't care for it then, but this stuff was actually good! I wish I had remembered to ask the waitress which one it was, but I forgot to. I'll have to search for it now! Oh, and by the way, if you have to park in a lot, just pay the $5. It's worth it. I was dumb and didn't understand how to do it so I didn't pay upfront and ended up receiving a fine.

I enjoyed my meal at Yokozuna. I was in Tulsa for a conference and came here with a large group of coworkers, and the food and service were both good. They have very interesting rolls here, though I will say it might not be the right place for people who prefer sashimi/nigiri. If you're in the mood for inventive rolls, though, this is a great place for you!

I came here on a Sunday in between lunch and dinner, so it was very quiet. I was greeted immediatly. I love the ambiance. The artwork is beautiful. My original servers shift was ending so another one came to great me. She was just a sweet and very helpful. I told her it was my first time and she proceeded to help me with my selection. I got two different rolls and they were both out of this world delicious! I cant wait to go back!

The booths in the bar area are for small butts only. :( Kind of uncomfortable and pretty close to your neighbors. If you're on a date, request to sit somewhere else. The seating is limited but they offer small tables, a few booths, banquet seating in the bar area, sushi bar seating, and bar seating. I imagine this place is a nightmare on weekend nights, or any time something is going on at the PAC. Overall I enjoyed the sushi rolls, the Hot Mess being the favorite (cream cheese, jalapeño, imitation crab, all fried and covered with a mix of imitation crab and spicy tuna; then topped with eel sauce and a fried wonton chip). The chicken steam buns are super delicious when the buns are steamed just right. Service is hit or miss so don't go here if you're in a hurry. The meal always ends on a funny note though with the fortune cookie messages. The first one I got there said on my next visit I could rock/paper/scissors my server for a free appetizer. I took them up on it and I won!

I should temper this review with the idea that this IS Tulsa and not California, but I won't. Why should I let them off the hook just based on geography? First, I asked the server f What beer is not on the menu and he suggested Palm special ale, he called it a light ale (wrong), or some fruity something or other - pass. I chose the Palm (i like Amber ales). That took almost 10 minutes. Why? I ordered something called inexplicably, the New York roll and a spicy salmon hand roll. Not spicy, mushy salmon. The New York roll, boring. The avocado was almost as crunchy as the cucumber. Server asked how I was doing. Ok, I'm fine. I didn't bother to interrupt my meal to describe the less than adequate sushi. You know what, I think I did give them the benefit of an extra star because it is Tulsa after all... Won't be back, will not recommend. Edit: Martina, the manager, came over after I was finished. I had made a couple of comments to the server about the status of the food and I guess he decided she needed to know about it:. That's a good thing. She gave me a small discount on the bill, which was totally unnecessary, & I do appreciate it. I put the discount back into the server's tip.

Do not go here if you have a peanut allergy. I told the waiter I had an allergy and he noted he would tell the sushi preps. I was sitting at the sushi bar and watched the sushi chef prepare my food just after making a peanut butter role and he did not pay any attention to my allergy. The guy was very rude when I brought it to his attention and lied stating he hadn't seen peanut butter all night. Will never return due to the lack of respect and ignorance of the staff.

It's about to get real honest up in hurrrrrr. Hokay, I really am honest all the time when it comes to Yelping but I deem it necessary to note this is real life honest to goodness sushi. I did not like sushi until this past year... I know, I know... I know. Yokozuna's approach to sushi is perfect for newbies like me and for the connoisseur. They are proud of their excellent chefs who provide sushi (Nigiri, Sashimi, & Signature Rolls), homemade Gyoza Dumplings & Spring Rolls, Pad Thai, General Tso's Beef, Chicken Chili Ramen and so forth. For the adventurous, you can expect new specials on a daily basis! Be sure to try some of their homemade desserts, too. CELEBRATE! Happy hour delivers some food items on the menu 1/2 off! Happy hour is 3-6PM M-F and 10PM-12AM Friday & Saturday. Yes, there are 2 happy hours to really make you want to say TGIF on Fridays. Speaking of celebrating, Yokozuna is great for all sorts of private events. From bridal showers to lunch meetings, there is a great space which can be reserved for up to 40 people. I hosted a bachelorrette night dinner in this space. It was very easy and the staff who took care of us were so helpful. Location! Location; location! In the heart of downtown Tulsa, this is a place I take my out-of-town guests to showoff Tulsa.

Service was ok... No more late night happy hour... Lost trendy luster.

We went during happy hour where rolls are half off. It's a great time to go because you can purchase 2-3 rolls for the same price as 1 when it isn't happy hour. We tried the spicy roll with yellowtail, California roll, New York roll, and Route 66 roll. Since it was a discounted price I would say the value is good for the amount you get. The wasabi is good quality. The food was delicious, but some rolls were not tightly sealed. I think they give you a decent amount of fish if you order a roll that includes raw fish. Service was pretty slow so I've taken away a star. Even with slow business, it took 20 mins before we were served and waiters are not very responsive. It's recommended you go during happy hour so you can try a few rolls before going during regular hours and paying more for something you might not like.

Sarah took me to this place. Ok so they have amazing cuisine and they know how to do their sushi up right. Their location seems to be in a sort of club/restaurant district of Tulsa giving it a trendy type feel. The owners have taken that a bit further with extremely trendy decor. And as often happens trendy is neat but not necessarily comfortable. The Sushi - I can only speak to this as I had two rolls and didn't have any of their other dishes. I have rarely had sushi this good and I would not have believe to have ever gotten sushi this good, this far from shore. However, I have been to fancier restaurants with fresher ingredients and they were much cheaper. Again this may be due to placement or even shipping costs. The restaurant and the food are very good just over priced. As for the staff... Someone took our order, someone delivered our order, other than that?! What staff?

I went to Yokozuna with some friends after seeing a play at the PAC. We had reservations for 5:30, but the play was shorter than we thought it would be so we got there early. They weren't busy yet, so after taking a few minutes to walk around Dwelling Spaces next door, we went ahead and asked to be seated. We got an awesome waitress. I wish I would have caught her name (her hair was died pink if that helps). We ordered the pupu platter as an appetizer and 5 sushi rolls to share. We got the Driller Roll, Hot Mess, Dilly Roll, Route 66 Roll, and the Nutty Thai Professor. The sushi came out quickly, even faster than the appetizer. All of the rolls were good, but my favorite was the Nutty Thai Professor. The Dilly Roll was also unique with the hints of lemon. Our appetizer was good as well, but next time I will probably just stick to the sushi. I ordered the Cherry Blossom drink and it was really good. Yokozuna is a small restaurant, so if you are going at a busy time, reservation would be suggested.

I'm not a huge sushi fan, but Yokozuna managed to make me enjoy it. If you aren't big on sushi, I would suggest the Hot Mess or Veggie Roll for your initiation. They have amazing noodle and rice dishes -- the Pad Thai is among my favorite anywhere, as is the Sweet and Sour chicken. They have a great mixed drink selection, too -- you MUST MUST MUST have a Catalina Wine Mixer when you visit!!

HORRIBLE/RUDE SERVICE! I've eaten at Yokozuna about 4 times over the course of a two week business stay in Tulsa. It's one of the few options near work with ideal food choices. The pros: decent menu, happy hour specials, nice size sashimi, and cute ambiance. Cons: Horrible service, and many rude staff members. My first experience at the restaurant was good, so I decided it was a great spot to hit. Unfortunately my next few experiences went downhill and my most recent experience will be my final at this establishment. I waited 30 minutes at the bar for a very basic to-go order, at a time where the restaurant was active, but not packed. When my order finally came out, only half of it was given to me. I had to ask where the rest was. I expressed my frustration to the server, in waiting for so long, and then only being given half my order. When he came back with the rest of my order (about 5 minutes later), he basically threw the bag on the bar and walked away. At that moment, probably the rudest service I've ever experienced ever. Anywhere. And that's saying a lot for someone who travels for a living. He even had the audacity, as I was exiting, to go and talk about me with one of his co-workers, in a very clear manor. In addition to all that, upon getting home, the sushi was on it's side and a big mess. Now the in between times I ate here, service was slow. A select few of the staff are on it and the rest are too busy chatting and goofing off, to pay attention to diners in need of things. For a small area with limited options, I'd be willing to forgive some of that, if the food was incredible. The food is good. No more, no less. But after my most recent experience I'm afraid the bad outweighs the good. The owners need to get together with their staff and fix a few things. It seems much of the staff is more interested in hanging out than doing their jobs.

The decor and atmosphere are really attractive. The staff is very friendly. It feels pretty hip and I can see why people coming from outside of the state are so impressed to find it in Tulsa. Although the menu has some interesting items, (the presentation was adorable), the food however is just okay, haven't had anything there that blew me away, or even that I was satisfied with enough to order again. Yokozona is like an attractive man, wearing glasses who turns out to have a low I.Q and ends up feeling unauthentic, "oh how you have such promise." It is such a pretty package, it's worth going to, I just wish there was more to it when I opened it up.

Great sushi. My wife and I were in town and found this place on Yelp. It seems that people love or hate this place. We loved it. We got "The Hot Mess" sushi roll. It was huge. It was hard to get into your mouth in one bite but worth it. The miso soup was also really good. it was served hot with really good mushrooms. It seems that people do not like this place because it is not "traditional" sushi. I would agree it is not traditional. This is a good thing because my wife enjoys this type of sushi and not the "traditional" kind, and therefore we can agree on a restaurant. The service was great even though it was a busy Friday night. I would make reservations or show up with time to spare. It is not a big place, but big enough. The atmosphere is great. Enjoy.

We love this place. We drive nearly an hour and a half on special occassions to come there. The prices are average but plan on dropping $100 on 2 people if you want to sample the many different options. Love the ice cream too.

Really great dinner! Pupu platter for 2 was really good. Especially the dumplings and sweet potato fries. I sampled everyone's entree and for once I ordered the best! The pork belly tacos were incredible. General Tso chicken had really good flavor. daughters chicken fried rice was really flavorful. Coconut Ice cream was surprisingly excellent until it melted and all you had was Coconut in your mouth. Kind of odd.... It was a very busy night as I think a concert was happening but I always use open-table to make reservations so it wasn't a problem for us. Will be back for sure. Very friendly waitress as well.

Tulsa can sometimes be a desolate waste land when it comes to craving Japanese or Korean noodle bowls. The Pork Belly Ramen With Fried Quail Egg is a reviving oasis in Yokozuna where you can drink deep my friends. They have good sushi as well but if you are a fan of ramen or ramyeon, then come here, you will quince that thirst. 4 stars by the time you find it. The broth isn't that flavorful but the noodles and pork belly with the egg combination is great. 3 stars compared to Totto Ramen in New York, then again you don't have to wait for 2 hours to get in... Or go to New York. Thank you for adding this missing element to beautiful Tulsa Yokozuna.

So I've found a new favorite sushi place in Tulsa. Wonderful fish, atmosphere, prices, & service. Don't be a wuss and order the usual rolls you always get other places, ask for recommendations from your server.

  • Isaiah J.

The restaurant itself looks really nice. The decor is stylish but the entryway gets kind of flooded. The staff are friendly and they leave you alone so that's a plus. For sushi, it's mostly the western kind with cream cheese being the main ingredient in a lot of them. They charge a ton for basic sushi. I like the place; the atmosphere is great and all. But the food is subpar.

  • Dylan W.

Excellent food and drinks. The sushi is perfect. The only problems I've ever had here is the occasional staff issue. Not common though. Just some are unprofessional at times. Overall I visit fairly often and would recommend it highly.

Try the Nutty Thai Professor. It's like a pad thai roll. Peanuts and spice, yum!

    (4)
  • Elise C.

High class sushi to say the least. I recommend the volcano, but beware it has a ton of sauce on it. It's not a great place to bring a huge group due to their table set ups and they're definitely not quick but that is chalked up to them being so busy at lunch and spending quality time on making the rolls perfect. Also they give out fortune cookies after your meal and if you're lucky you will get the "free sake" fortune and receive a free drink! It's on the more expensive side, but it is sushi so it seems on par with most sushi places.

This place gets 4 stars because of their happy hour deal. DANG! I've heard this place was just average but their happy hour is pretty awesome. We ordered their: $3.00 edamame- normal edamame $8.00 hot mess roll- pretty unique, deep fried so it's got a good crunch and the crab inside is creamy and yummy... maybe a little gooey $4.00 route 66 roll- excellent flavor $4.00 spicy salmon roll- fresh! $4.00 philly roll- fresh! --------- $25!!!!! Not too bad for a meal for two at a nice sushi restaurant.

First off I was excited to come here because of the good reviews. However, my experience was none short of a disappointment. We waited for an hour and 30 min!!! We watched 3 parties who arrived after us, get seated before we did. After waiting for about 45 minutes I proceeded to the hostess stand to ask how much longer it would be because we had been waiting for awhile. She informed me we were indeed next. She then turned around and mockingly spoke to a bus boy. As I watched her head turning finger waving gestures speaking to him -we all just watched and said, "yep, she's talking about us." An hour and a half later we were seated to a table in the center of the back room. We passed the party of 2 seated comfortably in a roomy booth; while our party of 3 was seated in the middle of the room. We sat there and the waiter greeted us. I told him we waited for an hour and a half and were very hungry. He replied, "well hope it's worth the wait!" (Paraphrasing of course) but it was something of the sorts. We all ordered Sapporo's and a bottle of warm saki. The waiter informed us of how to order the best deal. Which was nice of him in an otherwise somber attitude he carried. I ordered the Route 66 roll (8 pieces)and the asparagus roll (6 pieces). It was decent. Not the best but it was decent. We carried on our conversation as it was very loud. Which is expected for a Saturday night. The manager walked by and overheard our conversation and chimed in on what we were talking about. He was friendly and asked how everything was. I said everything was fine and that we waited for an hour and a half to be seated. The manager just gave me this look and he replied, "Well then, you've definitely have paid your dues!" Then he walked away to a table that broke a glass. If you're wanting quality sushi and a much more trendier atmosphere as well as friendlier staff: I strongly suggest passing this place and heading to In The Raw. I will not be back.

My search for good sushi has taken to many great - and a few not so great - sushi bars all over this great land of ours. And, while Yokozuna may not be one of the great ones, it certainly is one of the solid ones! The sushi is quite good! Very fresh fish, good rice texture (not too dense, not to lose), a few interesting rolls, and very nice space in which to enjoy it. As others have commented, both the patron new to sushi as well as the experienced palates can enjoy a good meal here! Bottom line: yes, there is good sushi in Tulsa!

  • Alayna D.

This is a great place for sushi beginners. I am not a huge sushi fan, but the rising sun roll has been my first step into the sushi world. It is probably not as authentic as it could be with its cream cheese and fried shrimp... But it's delicious so I don't have a problem with it. The drinks are a little weak for my liking. And a little overpriced. Don't order the big fishbowl if you're trying to get a buzz on because it is mainly comprised of juice.

  • Caitlyn W.

Try the Hot Mess or the El Guapo! This is a great restaurant and happy hour is the best (3pm-6pm)! The edemame is delicious. The atmosphere is awesome and every time I come I get good service.

Yokozuna is by far my favorite place to get sushi in Tulsa. I've gotten something different almost every time I've been and have yet to get anything awful. The prices are reasonable for sushi, and awesome if you go to happy hour from 4-6 every day! Select rolls are half price, including the Hot Mess which is my favorite roll I've ever had. Tempura shrimp and spicy kani on top...yum! Also good is the Flaming Volcano! I enjoyed the Route 66 roll, wasn't a huge fan of the Golden Driller. It's got quite a bit of cream cheese, so if you don't like that I would steer clear. The only negatives are that there is often a wait on busy nights, so call ahead if you're on a schedule. The waitstaff is always friendly, the hostesses...not so much. All in all, this is one of my favorite Tulsa restaurants! Don't miss out!

Honered reservation for 8...had to make a concert at BOK...THX!! Service good food great and the full bar worked. We had sushi, japanese beer, and salads...all great.

  • David M.

Let's call it mediocre. Not sure if there is better in town but I would call this unexceptional sushi. Spicy tuna roll rice was dry and crunchy. Poki tuna had lots of fish but not great. Green tee with a tea bag. The waitress was very pleasant and the service and atmosphere were nice. My favorite part of the entire meal was my fortune cookie (yes, you read that right). Best fortune ever..."Chuck Norris likes his meat so rare he only eats unicorn!" How's that for a winner. I will try again if in town again just in case.

Rollin a gift! Gotta be the best roll they have over there..... I think one time we ordered 4 of those... I often go to lunch here with customers, and have been a few times with my wife or friends... Great way to start offf with those awesome sweet potato fries.. Those things with that wasabi mayo really get me going... Edemame is hard to beat anywhere, but theirs is not over steamed.. Still somewhat firm beans... If you go, you must try two things: Roll N Gift Yellowtail Carpaccio Those would be my personal 2 favorites... I could probably eat just those and be just fine... But I would need to eat about 6 of the rolls, and 2 of the Carpaccio's as they are just SOOO Delicious!

  • James M.

Overall a good experience. Good beer on tap. Sashimi is thick cut which is unusual but not unpleasant. Most rolls are fried and/or made with cream cheese, but all well executed so even the purist can find something to enjoy.

One of my absolute favorites of Tulsa. Love the food. Love the environment. Love it. The sushi is always delicious and fresh and there are specials every night of the week. There is a separate bar area but I wouldn't recommend eating at the bar since it seems to take longer to get your order. The staff is always knowledge and courteous. The prices are excellent and you are able to get more for your money. Sometimes live music. You don't need a reservation. Even on the weekend the wait isn't usually long.

I love a legit sushi place that doesn't take itself too seriously. Early & late night "sushi happy hour" gives you a break and allows you to find something you really like. Great drinks, servivce has ranged from average to pretty good across multiple-visits for me. For sushi--this place has very reasonable prices. Good location for any downtown activities. Great place to meet your someone that isn't yet a sushi-disciple & introduce them!

    (4)
  • Mark B.

Very overpriced, but I understand why, you are paying for the downtown experience. I have had way better sushi at a lesser price. We did enjoy the El Guepo roll. Spicy Tuna was not spicy, Geishas Dilemma was spicy but had no flavor.

  • Irena T.

I've only been here during Happy Hour for the discounted sushi - I don't think I'd pay full price for the rolls. During HH, though, I think it's totally worth it. The Hot Mess = awesome. Service has been good both times I've been here, also. Overall, a cute and trendy place to catch up with friends.

We stopped at Yokozuna for lunch, because it was greatly recommended to us by a friend. Unfortunately, it did not match the level of food or service that our friend praised it with. We ordered the Flaming Volcano, Pick and Roll, and the eel roll. After a long 30 minutes wait, they finally brought out our food. All three came with meager portions. By far, the Flaming Volcano was the best out of the three. Nevertheless, the best of mediocre food is still mediocre, no matter which way you look at it. We left greatly disappointed and with a $43 bill. So if you are looking for expensive sub-par food, and the feeling of hunger even after eating, this is the place for you. But if your looking for good priced decent food. Look elsewhere!

Had dinner here for my birthday. I was expecting some good sushi but it tasted like nothing. I played it safe and ordered the spider roll, shrimp tempura roll and flaming volcano roll. I will never come back here for sushi but their entrees we're pretty good. I would return to try the other entrees. Also our waitress did really good for our large party.

Presentation was above par. Ramen was delivered at lukewarm and was cold before I was half finished with my meal. Pork Belly was delicious but once again to cold in a cold broth to eat.

Ive eaten sushi around the world and I am still waiting for my sushi for over an hour. There is only one chef with over 30 people here trying to slice, serve sashimi and sushi. This is the last time Im coming here on a Sunday for Happy Hour or ever. You want a successful business you might want to hire more staff!!!!!!!!

Yokozuna stands in the middle of the blue dome district, so it's a great place to get dinner before a night out and to take lunch breaks. The atmosphere of this restaurant is why I love going to this sushi joint. It's casual and trendy, and most importantly affordable. There is a back room for larger reservations and little bar area for stop by lunches and drinks. The service has always been hospitable. Despite the great location and atmosphere, the food is unfortunately not up to par. I met up with some friends for lunch and the sushi wasn't as good as I remembered it being the last time I went. The traditional spicy rolls and california rolls had way too much rice and not enough sustenance. The rainbow roll was covered with tiny slivers rather than the juicy chunks you should get. My friends ordered the rising sun roll and they both enjoyed it, but from what I saw, too much rice! The specialty rolls use ingredients and combinations that I normally don't see in more traditional sushi bars. This is good for people who have never tried sushi before as it's more americanized and they have a variety of cooked seafood rolls. Check out the happy hours if you're looking for discounted sushi. I also ordered a cup of the miso soup. Although it was hearty, it was too salty. I wish they would have taken some salt from their miso and added it to their ramen bowls. I've been with people who have ordered their ramen, and the broth comes up bland. I try not to compare Tulsa to NYC, so Yokozuna might actually be a 4-star in sushi for Tulsa, but trek out to LA or NYC if you want really good sushi. Otherwise, you can also check out In the Raw on Brookside, a better sushi option in my opinion.

Love Yokozuna!! I went to eat there last weekend and I feel like it had almost been a year since I'd eaten there. That is definitely weird considering that I used to eat there almost every week. It's still great! I love chowing down on the Hot Mess roll. It has some great flavor and some good crunch! Normally, I get the hot mess and either the Route 66 or the Tulsa Driller (I think that's what it's called) roll. Both of those are good. Now the happy hour is the best time to visit Yokozuna. If you eat there another time than it is a little bit pricey (but sushi is normally a little on the pricey side). I believe it is between 3 and 6 p.m. during the week. It used to also be during Friday and Satruday night from 10-12, but they no longer do that :(. Oh well, I still love Yokozuna!

Amazing. I absolutely love eating here. I've been here multiple times for lunch and dinner and I always enjoy the food. It is "Asian fusion" which I like. I've been meaning to write a review but never got around to it so here it is. I usually stick with the sushi, and so far every roll I've had has been awesome, some more awesome than others but all have been very good. They have a wide variety of rolls, price wise as well as ingredient choices. I really enjoy the Hot Mess and Geisha's Demise, but like I said, everything I've had here has been great. The sticky buns are good as well as the egg rolls and everything on the Pu pu platter, and the service has always been good no matter how busy. I'm not a food critic but if you're like me and just enjoy good food you'll love

Can't believe that you can get decent Sushi in Tulsa, Oklahoma but you can. This restaurant is open and bright in what looks to be an old warehouse area with tall ceilings and big open spaces. Even though there is a lot of space they pack a LOT of tables into it. It's been packed the past couple of times that I've eaten there. This is a trendy, younger person's spot from the appearance of the crowds there. Some of this may have been due to the fact that I was there on a night when there was a concert at the center and a baseball game for the Tulsa Drillers going on that night. Yokozuna has a very wide assortment of rolls. The Chef's Choice was fantastic and the sushi combo plate is reasonably priced (for a sushi restaurant - need that caveat) and a nice assortment of options. The staff was very friendly. I would recommend a reservation if you are going to try to go during busy dining out times.

Following the advice of our fellow yelpers, we stopped in to check this place out. We're glad we did! The food was excellent. Some of the freshest tasting sushi I've ever had in Tulsa. We visited during happy hour (M-F from 3-6pm), so we got 4 rolls for $20. An amazing deal! We had to take some of the sushi home, so next time we'll go for 3 rolls. The "Hot Mess" was the best of the rolls we tried. They're really large rolls, but they have great textures and flavors all working together with a little spice. The only bad thing about this visit was the odd communal seating we were placed in. My wife and I were on a date, and there were 2 seat tables open, but we were sat right next to a woman that took up most of my seat with her purse. The service and food delivery were a little slow, but over all a great experience. We will be back. Oh, and the fortunes in the fortune cookies were hilarious! Go there and see what I mean ;)

Terrible service and tasteless, bland rolls, plus it took over an hour to get our food when we were one of 3 tables in the place. Totally overrated and honestly, the rolls reminded me of something you find premade in a grocery store. Gross.

Ate the chicken chili ramen bowl. Has a great kick to it. It's like a pho twist and it's so good. The edamame was delicious and believe it or not so was the fortune cookie. Cool atmosphere. Pretty good service.

I've read some of the other reviews of this place, and can tell that they lack any education in what sushi is supposed to be, but, what to you expect from Okies? First I'll say that Sushi does not have cream cheese on it. If you like Cream Cheese on Sushi then why not try some Velveeta on sushi too Ma and Pa Kettle? Absolutely horrible failure at General Tso's Chicken. Avoid avoid avoid. Yokuzuma is an embarrassment to Tulsa. It's White Trash trying to be all worldly and stuff.

Yokozuna's half-price sushi happy hour is killer! Select rolls half off after 10pm? Holler. I recommend the Nutty Thai Professor roll- coconut shrimp with peanut butter, jalapenos and mango topped with cilantro, sriracha and eel sauce. It's spicy, strange, and delicious. For a drank try The Flying Lotus (gin, st. germain and cucumber yummm) and their spicy Bloody Mary with wasabi. OR if you're feeling wild and crazy get the Yomiuri Giant. It's fruity and boozy and served in an actual fishbowl! While it's certainly not the best sushi in Tulsa, the location and atmosphere are killer. Yokozuna is a great place to start a night out in downtown Tulsa

Worst service of all sushi restaurants. They are just too cool to give any suggestions, refill your drink or ask how the meal is. I've been a handful of times and it's consistent every time as being POOR SERVICE. Last time was for a bday event or I wouldn't even had gone. It's too bad the food is decent but long wait time and poor service makes it just not worth it.

Well being a Californian who would ever think about eating sushi in the Midwest? But when I asked a couple sitting next to me (at a different restaurant) what restaurants they recommend, they suggested Yokozuma once they learned I loved sushi. Of course I gave them the look of disbelief but they assured me I wouldn't be disappointed and I wasn't. Downtown Tulsa is currently being renovated and is becoming a great spot for dining and evening entertainment. Yokozuna is contemporary in design and was busy the night I ate there, which is always a good sign. I ate at the bar since I was alone on business travel. They had a nice selection of sake, and no not the yucky cheap hot sake. I asked for a cold dry sake and the server's suggestion was excellent. They served it in a wine glass which threw me off at first. The best way to test a sushi place is to order sashimi (you can't cover non fresh fish with sauces) and mine was fresh with lots of flavor. I ordered a few other items, which I can't remember what they were, but they were also very good. The orders were a bit heavy on the rice side and the rolls were a bit smaller than what we get at home, but that's understandable since deliveries are probably not numerous.

I enjoyed Yokozuna's late night happy hour on Saturday. The place wasn't busy by my standards, but according to the sushi chefs, it was busy for a Saturday night in downtown Tulsa. I began my endeavor by ordering a cocktail, the ginger pomegranate martini. It was terrible. Too sweet and syrupy, or maybe I'm just spoiled by the hand crafted cocktails I usually drink in KC... Anyway, I ordered the hot mess and spicy tuna, which were both on the happy hour menu, and both decent sushi rolls. They were a-ok for happy hour sushi, but I wouldn't recommend it for dinner OR drinks. Service was prompt, though it took a while to get my tab.

Small rolls that aren't worth the price. This place was recommended by some people and it was totally not like what I expected. Not paying that much for such small rolls. Service is slow. Not very friendly service. Not coming here again.

I heard mixed reviews before coming to Yokozuna, so I wasn't sure what to expect. It's not an authentic sushi place by all means, but it's still a fun place to eat. I steered clear from the sushi, but my boyfriend did enjoy the rolls that he got. I ended up choosing the pork belly ramen with fried quail egg. Not the best ramen I've ever had, but it wasn't bad either. The broth was slightly bland and the pork had a lot of fat on it. Other than that, I had a good time and I was glad that I tried Yokozuna.

Step by step review: Walked in and several friendly faces greeted me. Bartender was very quick and suggested the Hot Mess. Food came super fast and it was Hot (spicy) and incredible. I chased it with a cold Sapporo which was great in itself. Come here soon.

In town for business and wanted something different and unique. To put it bluntly... I didn't get it here. It's restaurant week, so I thought great for me...great for the charity. I ordered the miso soup, chicken pad thai, and chocolate torte ($12.95). Miso soup...good, nothing spectacular, but good. I asked the server about the pad thai and the pork belly tacos. He said he eats the pad thai all of the time and should get that. Wrong choice. No depth in flavors at all...very bland unless I got a spring of cilantro, then that was all I could taste. I'm used to the pad thai I always have...cooked by (I believe) immigrants from Thailand. Should've stuck with the pork belly tacos. Torte... could find same or better at the grocery store. Service was fast and efficient... I was by myself and in and out in around 25 minutes. Place was very busy, guess their specialty is sushi (?)... Might give them another try when I'm in town again and order from the menu and see how it goes. If you love Pad Thai...skip it here.. try something else.

Been to Yokozuna a lot, and I love it every time. The atmosphere is hip and modern and the sushi is really good. I always have good service, and I can't think of a time that I have had to wait a while for the food.

I visited Yokozuna on St. Patrick's Day with a group of 7. First of all the service was really good. I had heard bad things, but it was top knotch! The servers were helpful and knowledgable. My husband and I shared the Yomiuri Giant, which is an alcoholic beverage served in a fish bowl-sized glass. It was delicious and not too strong. We also had the flaming volcano roll and the golden driller roll. The flaming volcano was our fave! We shared the general tso's with steamed rice and it was delicious. I really liked it because it was not deep fried and had a spicy, flavorful sauce. Overall we had no complaints and enjoyed our visit. Will definitely go back and recommend to friends!

The 40 cents a pack ramen I get at the grocery store tastes better than what I got here. The pork belly ramen sounded really delicious on paper, but it was surprisingly bland considering all the ingredients in there. I am not a salt 'n pepper kind of person, so even if a dish had no salt but all the right flavors I would still enjoy it. This? What a waste of my money. To the guy who told everyone to stop complaining about the ramen and be adventurous--I don't think you've had REAL ramen before, and pad thai (typical Thai dish) and the geisha roll (Americanized sushi) are hardly "adventurous".

I've been to many different sushi places in many different cities and Yokozuna ranks right up there with the best of them! A lot of their rolls were spicy, which I really enjoyed, but there are plenty of regular rolls to choose from as well. Not to mention that the blackened ahi tuna sashimi was awesome! Their Sweet Evil sauce was also excellent (I think it came with the Geisha roll). All in all, I'll definitely go back while in the Tulsa area! And feel free to trust the chefs and order the Chef's Choice, it was the best roll I had that night and I'm not even sure what all was in it!?! Oh and not to mention my friend's fortune cookie said that his next visit he can play Rock, Paper, Scissors to win a free roll; how cool is that?!

I've eaten here several times and the food is ok but the service is terrible in return makes the food terrible. I hate it when I order sushi and it just sits on the sushi bar waiting for a waitress to finally stop talking to all the other waitstaff about her drunk that she got on the night before. When that yummy goodness finally does get to me its warm or if partially cooked is soggy. Yesterday we tried the Ramen and it looks amazing but I think the cook that night forgot the chicken packet because it was literally water and noodles. I normally get their fried rice but the waitress said that the food was waiting on the ramen so my rice was over cooked and sticky. Normally the rice is the best fried rice I've ever had. Huge shrimp and chicken yum. But the waitstaff is a bunch of 20 something teenagers that gossip and give you no service just excuses and then smile at the end really big smile and try to service you at the end when your writing in your tip on the bill. Oh! And she asked me and my 13 yr old if we wanted separate checks. Are you kidding me? we could have been purple and polka dots all over and she wouldn't have even noticed. I am sure I will go back because it's downtown and my friends will want to go but it's too bad that it's a cool place to go and not a good place to eat.

Good food, nice menu, friendly staff, not too expensive. The manager is named Matt Leland. He is a very cool guy and a great host. He was previously the manager of the original In The Raw on Brookside for several years. Needless to say, he knows how to run a sushi restaurant. Try the route 66 roll...hell, try everything!

I'm from the east coast, so I know a thing or two about good sushi. The aforementioned is very hard to find in Tulsa, OK. However, the closest thing I've found to excellent sushi is at Yokozuna. They have quality fish and their rolls are definitely above average. I recommend sitting at the bar, because the table service can be hit or miss.

OMG! ROACHES! It began with being given bad directions from the woman who answered the phone. When I called back from the road for a revision since the directi8ons she gave me were wrong for the closed road during construction, she said something like, "well, we can't keep track of all the construction when we give directions." !!!! THEN, when someone calls for directions, tell them you may be giving them wrong directions because of road construction. Better yet, the manager should check EVERY day for proper routes to his restaurant. Then, the clincher. Someone in our party was served a plate and found a baby roach on it. The manager was called and apologized but only offered to give a new plate and new food. WOW! A new plate of food! No comping the food that was tainted. No offer to have them back another day when their appetite returned and the kitchen could be cleaned properly. BIZZARE. YUCKY. NO GOOD.

I wouldn't call it authentic sushi (for that head to Sushi Alley in Utica Square) but they're very good at what they do (which is Americanized sushi smothered in sauces). Fish seems fairly fresh. Atmosphere is fun. I recommend going with a large group of friends and starting off with some sake bombs

I've been back a couple of times since the last review, and still love it! I decided to branch out of my comfort zone a bit and tried some of the carpaccio, which our waitress informed me isn't served anywhere else in Tulsa. So, everyone else's loss! The blackened ahi carpaccio blew my mind; it's so tasty I thought I was going to have a moment in the restaurant like Meg Ryan in When Harry Met Sally. Also tried the Pretty In Pink roll, which felt like dessert. Inside is salmon, cream cheese, and mango. Each roll is topped with a blueberry and it's all drizzled in some kind of pineapple rum sauce. I'd never had a roll that tasted sweet like this, but it was a really delicious, refreshing bit on a hot summer day.

I travel to Tulsa often and usually stay downtown when I do, so I was glad to find more options to eat downtown. I had walked past Yokozuna on several previous visits, but stayed away due to the reviews and lack of sushi originally. When I learned they began serving sushi, I was definitely more entice to try it, but still could not get over the reviews. We asked around the hotel to see if any of the employees had been and they said it was very good for sushi, so we gave it a try. First, let me say that the sushi was phenomenal. Not just OK, or good enough since it is in walking distance, but really very good. We ordered a seaweed salad to start and had three different rolls. The sumo roll was absolutely delicious. It has beef tenderloin on top that really makes the roll. We also had the Geisha's Demise which is served with a spicy sauce that really compliments the cool refreshing roll. We sat at the sushi bar and the service was really outstanding. Greg and Meghen were very pleasant and answered any question we had. Our waitress took care of everything we needed before we had to ask. I will definitely be returning. Even with a bottle of wine, everything was very reasonably priced.

I was sad to see Tsunami Sushi go, but this is more than adequate as a replacement. There's a sushi happy hour weekdays 3-6 PM, and Friday-Saturday 10-midnight. I love the drinks here. The bartender recommended a ginger-pomegranate martini, which pairs very well with sushi. If you're out with some friends, try the rum punch. Served in an enormous glass that resembles a fishbowl, you'll need 2-3 people to conquer this one. When I'm by myself or with a couple of friends, I fill up on drinks, appetizers, and sushi. I've been on a couple of dates at this restaurant, and each time I found the experience quite enjoyable. The service has always been great, and I've never ordered anything I didn't like. After you're done eating, head to Dwelling Spaces next door to browse quirky, locally made gifts and jewelry, and grab some espresso from Joe Bot's.

All of these people ordering Ramen and complaining about it need to grow a pair and order something more adventurous. Order some sushi, they have an excellent selection and a good portion of it is decently priced (not cheap, but under $8 per roll). We showed up around lunch time (12:15) to find the place reasonably full. I ordered chicken pad Thai and split a Geisha roll. Sushi came out super quick, followed by fast service and our entres. The pad Thai was excellent and both of our lunch portions were gigantic. The total came out to around $12.50 a person + tip (lunch entre + 1/2 sushi roll). There aren't many options for Asian food when you're working in downtown Tulsa. While the food was a bit pricey, it's located a few blocks from work and had excellent service.

This place reminds me a lot of NYC eateries: warehouse turned into restaurants. It has tall ceilings and wide open spaces. It's a very modern and somewhat trendy dining compare to other restaurants in downtown Tulsa. Well, don't be fooled by the name because not everything on the menu is Japanese. You'll find a lot of Thai, Chinese, and Viet entrees as well. So I ordered a Chicken Broth Ramen and was kind of expecting a similar tasting as the $1 instant noodles you get at the market. Unfortunately, it was bland. The soup had no flavor and the grilled chicken slices were burnt. They put too much lettuce in the soup, which probably explains why the soup had not much flavor to it. I tried adding some hot sauce to it but it made the whole experience more unsatisfying. I guess you can't expect much from a Japanese restaurant in OK, right? But the one good thing about this place is their edamame. They added a good amount of salt and pepper, which makes you crave for more. Nonetheless, I would recommend this place if you're desperate for a change from the southern comfort food or sandwiches, but don't expect too much from here.

Despite the really bad the service experience I had picking up a to-go order from the bar, I can't deny how good the food is. Only reason I couldn't give 5 stars was the crappy attitude of one employee.

i am sorry, but this place is pure crap. if you want to eat sub-par food, go here. honestly, the sushi that is pre-packaged at reasors tastes better. and the hot food. meh.

The Yellowtail Carpaccio was simple and perfect. I had the Roll and Gift at the suggestion of the waitress. It was very good, I was looking for something different. I like to pretend sushi is healthy. Fried shrimp and cream cheese are not. But it was really tasty. I enjoyed a cup of Miso as well. The service was excellent as was the atmosphere, I'll be back.

A couple friends and I came here because they had wanted to try it out. We all ordered a round of wine as we mulled over the extensive menu. We decided to order a couple rolls and share them as a table. We ordered the Geisha's Demise, Blue Dome, Yokozuma Pops and the Route 66 roll. Unfortunately they were out of lo bak, which is a type of Chinese radish, so we switched the Yokozuma Pops for the El Guapo Roll upon our waitress's suggestion. This turned out to be my favorite roll. I have had pretty of rolls with avocado but never any topped with guacamole. The crab filled roll was also topped with a crispy tortilla chip to scoop up the side of shrimp ceviche. We weren't really sure how to eat this roll, but it was delicious! My second favorite was the Geisha's Demise, but a word of warning it's spicy! The other rolls were good too but were slightly overshadowed by the two standout rolls. My only problem with Yokozuna was the huge price discrepancy between some of the rolls. Some were a good deal for $6-$8, but the $14-$15 felt a bit overpriced for sushi in Oklahoma.

In terms of sushi, this place is not the best in Tulsa. The rolls are well made, and the fish is usually fairly fresh. There's a very diverse menu, so that's the pull for this place. Set in a wonderful place, the view is spectacular. The place looks great, and the staff are attentive. This is the best go-to date place I can think of for Tulsa.

Since I have recently reviewed another Tulsa sushi place twice, I figured it was time to post a review for Yokozuna. Tonight was the third time I have eaten there, I believe. I love this place. I have tried different sushi rolls each time. Tonight I had the best sushi roll yet. I think it's called the Roll and Gift. I'll be having it again. Delicious and spicy with a great eel sauce drizzled over the entire roll. Also had the fish (mahi mahi) tacos with tempura style sweet potato fries for second time. Yum. This place is more expensive than the other place I have been going (because it's opened at noon, which Yokozuna is not). But the sushi blows the other place away. When it comes to sushi, you get what you pay for. My sushi roll, fish tacos, and 2 beers came to $50 including tip. It is busy on Saturday nights, which is always a good sign. Service is good. Atmosphere is cool and modern. I can't wait to eat there again. Only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because I feel that 5 stars should be reserved for A+ places. This is a solid A. A few more nights like tonight and it will be an A+ though. On second thought, I am giving this place 5 stars to counteract the sourpuss who gave it 1 star the same night I was there. Seriously?

seriously the WORST service i have ever experienced in my life! if it hadn't taken 1.5 hours to get our sushi rolls maybe it would have tasted better. even after they brought us our checks they were still trying to bring out our food they had missed while we were standing up leaving! they also acted like they did nothing wrong which was insult to injury. here's a tip: if you take a reservation for 17 people, be sure you can staff it before you commit. while we were there, tables were turned multiple times before we even got our food. seriously horrible. this was my second time there. the first the service was much better but it was before they started serving sushi so the food was meh. i don't even think i could give it a third chance.

So I have been here 2x now for late night happy hour. Rolls are pretty good and super cheap when you order off the happy hour menu. Only downfall they are of course the boring ones that are disciunted like california rolls, philadelphia rolls, etc. The Hot Mess is also on Happy Hour and that was was really good. I would be interested in trying the other fancier rolls there. The decor is cute and trendy. I also have had their big drink the Youmuri (SP?) and it is like a big fruity punch. YUM. Over all it is good for what you can expect from sushi in a land locked state, only prob service has been a little slow both times I have been there.

The service and atmosphere was good which is why I gave it at least one star but the food was really bland. I ordered the most basic thing you could get in Japan which is ramen. When I took my first bite I instantly wished for instant noodles which I could have paid 9 times less than the meal I was paying for at Yokozuna's. I should have gone with my instinct when I noticed that there were only white people there. If there were other Asians there then you know its authentic Asian food. Very disappointing.

I am not a sushi fan but if I was one, I would definitely get sushi here. They have some interesting-sounding rolls on their menu. We went there for my husband's birthday, and lucky for me they have other dishes in addition to sushi. The atmosphere was great, the sweet potato fries were outstanding, and my pad thai was some of the best I've had in Tulsa.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
