    Absolutely terrible service, in comparison to locations like Tokyo Garden. We (a group of us) had reservations set for the evening time for a friends birthday. We arrived, ahead of time, and it took them at least thirty minutes to seat us (which given how busy they were, we let it slide, and understood the situation). They refused to sit us together, or even at two tables near one another, and that's when everything started to go downhill. One table was served, and completed their meal *before* the other table had their orders taken! No one ever checked on us, and then 45 minutes later, they "realized" that no one had turned on our table. Keep in mind, our table was FULL of people... so we were clearly noticeable. Once the show finally started, and the meals were served, the food was alright, but not amazing. The checks came and a substantial gratuity charge was added to each of our checks. We asked to speak with the manager and explained to him that given the situation, and what had happened (and even that our cook was lackluster and barely spoke to us) we would appreciate the ability to choose our own individual amount of tip to give. He laughed at us, told us he refused to remove the tip because we were a large party and they "had worked hard to serve us," and that he would offer us all free alcohol instead. Most of us were getting ready to get in our vehicles and drive, and so I had told him that I was driving and didn't feel it appropriate to take "free alcohol" and then go get in my car and drive people home. He seemed flabbergasted that I didn't think that was enough, but removed my gratuity charges. He then proceeded to tell the rest of the party that he would call the police if they refused to pay their gratuity, and then left, refusing to ever come back out and handle himself like a real manager. Never again will I set foot into that horrible establishment, and I make sure to tell everyone I meet to go to Tokyo Garden instead.

    I've be to Shogun twice and I must say that this place is great! The show that you get while watching your meal prepared is really good entertainment, and the food I must say is off the chain (outstanding)!

    For some reason, this has become the place for high schoolers to take their dates before the big prom. I'm not sure what that says for the quality, but it seems to work as a prelude for hormonal happiness. The food always is secondary to the chef's show at these places and they all have the same bag of tricks. It's a great place to experience once. It's a fair place to experience twice. It's pretty stale by the third time. The soup is bad but the rest of the food is passable ... literally passable around the table, if you wish. Try it, you'll like it. Just don't expect to like it as much the next time.

    I had never been to a place like this before so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was very impressed. They give you more than enough food and it's not like those places where the food is horrible and they try to compensate by giving you a lot! The food is really good and the chef puts on an awesome show. You deffinately get what you pay for.

    Love Shogun's! Im from Mass but visit Tulsa every few months and insist we go here while im in town. They put on a little show for you with fire and such and the food is awesome...love it!

    This was my first time at a hibachi steakhouse, so my review may be a bit bias b/c I have nothing to compare it to...but it was just amazing! Our chef was very seasoned and knew what he was doing. The NY strip and scallops were cooked perfectly, seasoned well and super fresh. The rice, veggies and sauces were just icing on the cake. This is a great place for groups. An average dinner for two = $50 (w/out alcohol). I also agree with the first reviewer, these places are big hot spots for prom goers. Despite that, I will definitely be back!

    Being with a large group, we wanted to eat at a Hibachi type restaurant. As soon as we entered, I thought "Oh boy, this isn't going to be good". There was a strange odor in the establishment. The bathrooms were dirty and smelly. So getting to the experience, our waitress was very nice. She took our drink orders, but came back to ask me what was a Grey Goose on the rocks. She brought a sheet of paper with all their available beverages with numbers corresponding to each. I told her #209 on the rocks. Really? Bar service was slow. The chef came out to start our meals. The chef was talented and entertaining. The food was really very good and not very expensive. $250 for 7 people with 1-2 drinks each. I won't go back. It's a one time experience kind of place. The chef told us mostly out-of-towners visit that restaurant.

    We have probably been going to Shogun for 25 years. ( started when they were at 51st and Harvard). The problem is I don't think they have updated or changed anything in 25 years. This has been our special occasion place-birthdays etc. Our boys would always look forward to going and they still do, even in their 20s. It's just that now there are more similar restaurant choices available that seem cleaner, better atmosphere, more attentive, etc. So last night we went with a party of 9. We were late so we had to wait (we did call them and tell them we were running late), but that was understandable because it was our fault and Shogun tends to pack out on weekends. Waited in the bar-got a club soda, Titos vodka and limes. The bartender was very friendly and made good drinks. Once we were seated, we got our soup and salad (love their ginger dressing) in a reasonable amount of time but then we had to wait a really long time for a chef. But our chef later told us they were short 2 chefs that evening, one due to illness. Our chef Tony saved the day. He was so friendly and entertaining, and really good with all of his tricks and food preparation. After the soup and salad, the chef prepares the fried rice (you can have steamed if you want), vegetables (zucchini, onions and mushrooms) and the shrimp appetizer for everyone. All of it is consistently very good and we love to douse everything in the ginger sauce. They also give you mustard sauce, but we always ask for double ginger sauce instead. For my main entree I had the shrimp (rising star I think). I have sometimes gotten shrimp and chicken or steak. My husband got the imperial emperor (8 oz filet). I think most people in our group were happy with their food. One cousin had never been before and really enjoyed it. Some people in our party were unhappy because they had waited so long and just didnt like it. After our meal, ice cream and hot tea are included. I had leftovers and they always make a show of wrapping it in a fun shape, such as a swan or purse. The bathrooms were dirty and a mess. I know it was probably their busiest night but someone should have been checking it. And it so should be updated. In fact their entire decor in the bar and restaurant should be updated. But maybe they do so much business they don't care. I just think they have some major competition coming on not too far away that is new and upscale. We still think they have the best ginger sauce around and we do like their food and we have a couple of favorite chefs. So we will be back but it's not our only option anymore.

    There food is good! Service is great! But there carpet is nasty. Your feet stick to the floor. I have never been in a restaurant where you felt like you had to wash your shoes after being in there.

    Maybe I came on a bad night (a Sunday?) but I was incredibly disappointed with my most recent experience at Shogun's. First, when we were seated, we were seated at the grill with a large party. I get that sharing table space is inevitable when you're at a hibachi restaurant, but this party seriously took up the majority of the table, whereas our reservation was only for 2. The host wouldn't re-seat them and give them their own grill (citing existing reservations and there not being any other space for them), and they walked out. I was on their side because later in the evening, there were definitely parties of 2-3 we could have easily sat with, instead of intruding on their large party. In fact, there was a birthday celebration of 3 people who got a grill all to themselves, like 20 minutes later. Secondly, and more importantly, the food was BAD. I remembered going to Shogun's a few years earlier and thinking the food as equally good as the show. During this visit, the show was okay, but the food was so bland and improperly cooked. I asked for my steak cooked medium, which I guess the chef interpreted as "Leave in the hot section of the grill for as long as possible." Seriously, the people who ordered CHICKEN had their protein taken off the heat before my steak was. The chef just let it sit there and cook, until it was the penultimate item on the grill. That was definitely not even in the ballpark of a medium cook. Everything else was not memorable, or I just blacked it out because I was swallowed by internal grief or rage over my overcooked steak. I'd like to give Shogun's a second try, but Tulsa has more hibachi options I'd rather visit first. TL;DR: I used to like Shogun's, but they overcooked my steak, and I was filled with negative emotions.

    We eat here every few months and it's always a special treat. The food is pretty awesome. I like and have eaten every item they serve. The cooking "show" various from chef to chef but even the new guy can be fun to watch. You won't be disappointed.

    I've eaten here 3-4 times in the last year and the food is always great! I do wish they'd update their decor a bit. The ambiance could use a little work.

    Wow what a big disappointment!! I was told this was the best Japanese steakhouse in Tulsa...people you are sadly misinformed. First off they have no sushi. I was shocked. I have never been to a Japanese steakhouse that did not have sushi. Secondly the cook (I refuse to use the word chef here) had the enthusiasm of a grazing cow. We had more fun watching the cook two tables over. As did the rest of the restaurant because that guy was the only one enjoying his job. I looked around the place and it was flat. Nobody was having the fun I remember having at the last steakhouse I went to. The waitress was a twit...throwing and spilling everything. And when I told the manager how disappointed I was and how I thought the whole point of the place was to be exciting he had a deer in the headlights look and mumbled an apology. So you can read below how romantic and fun this place is but on this night it was terrible. Try a different place. And good luck.

    This is my fourth time here, maybe fifth and the only reason why I come here is that this is my daughter's favorite place to eat so we come to eat here. When Shogun first opened , gosh, ten years ago?, it was the best hibachi I had ever had. But, that was before the competition started rolling in to town. Now, I would put Osaka ahead of them for sure. The one thing that is better, and really it is the only thing for me is Shoguns mustard sauce...best I have had. Shotguns food is not bad, just not the best anymore. They have kind of slid or the competition has stepped up their game, I am not sure which. Their food is still quite good and we had an enjoyable dinner and it was a great evening. The hibachi chef really put on a show and was FAR better than the last chef we had had there. As always, we left having eaten too much as is typical with Japanese steakhouses. We will be back, next year. In the mean time I will be making a couple stops at Osaka.

    I attended Shoguns for New Years Eve and we had a reservation and were seated promptly. The establishment definately needs an upgrade. The lighting was dark and the server we had actually flicked rice at us ( by accident of course) and his "onion tower" kept falling over. He had a really tough time. The food tasted wonderful- I got the chicken and shrimp and I enjoyed it very much. Our waitress was really friendly and on point. I wish the veggies had less onions and more zucchini and mushrooms. I am from Texas and we have a similar establishment so I was a little let down. I was glad to experience it though- I have heard about this restaurant for years. Don't know if I would come back.

    I am a huge hibachi fan, so I've seen the best and worst of these types of places. Shogun is not the best I've been to, but it's not even close to the worst. The thing that sets this place apart from the other places I've been is the HUGE amount of meat you get... I probably got ten ounces of steak with my meal. Usually these places load you up on veggies and everything else and skimp on the meal, but this place doesn't skimp on anything. Don't expect for every chef to be Asian and the best hibachi show you've ever seen, and you'll have yourself a grand ol' time.

    Teppanyaki grills like Shogun are very popular for the show that you get with the food. The chef also serves as the entertainment for the evening while you watch him cook your food. But if you have been to one, you have been to all of them. It's really fun to take people who have never been to a place like this and is definitely worth the initial experience. The food was good. First off we were served some sort of miso soup that was ok, I have had better. Then came the salad with a miso ginger dressing. Again typical for a place like this. Then came the grilled veggies, fried rice and shrimp appetizers. Once that was out of the way, they chef began to cook everyone's individual meat orders. I ordered the scallops and they were cooked perfectly that they melt in your mouth. The lemon sauce was a nice addition to the scallops. After that came the grilled bean sprouts to finish off the meal. Along with the meal came hot green tea and ice cream for dessert. I gave this place 4 stars for the friendly and attentive wait staff, nicely cooked food and atmosphere. I would come again.

    I can't believe this place has no reviews! Food is to die for! Atmosphere is just ok.. but wow, the food makes up for it! Food is cooked infront of you.. good place for the kids... watching the chef make fire out of a onion volcano keeps them busy. Imperial Steak... awesome! I can't stand shrimp.. but LOVE the shrimp here... why... I have no idea what the difference is!
