A coworker told me about this place. Just in time when I was in the mood for catfish. I had their lunch special, 2-piece fish with 2 sides. I liked the fish. The coating was wonderful, I wish it had a little more kick to it. My 2 sides: red beans & rice and green beans. The red beans & rice were good but I was very disappointed in the green beans. They were so bland. No type of seasoning whatsoever. I wouldn't have expected that from a southern-style restaurant. The red beans & rice was well seasoned as well, just like the fish. The tarter sauce that came with the fish was tangy. Couldn't really tell what kind it was, it definitely wasn't your normal sauce that you can get from the store. Also, the meal came with jalapeño hush puppies. Those were good as well, tried them with the sauce, made them taste even better. They have a good sweet tea as well. I had a couple of cups of that. They have a section of fish, oyster, wings, etc. With lots of sides to choose from. They have daily specials as well throughout the week so be sure to ask for that if nothing catches your eye on the actual menu.

Good food. Good service. I've been here 3 times and got the same thing every time: Grilled shrimp salad. The seasoning on these is perfect -- wish I knew what it was. You order at the counter and they bring the food out to you -- whether you eat there or get it to go. It's arrived hot & fast every time. My only gripe, but it's a big gripe, is the sign above a tip jar at the register. I don't recall the exact wording, but essentially it says the workers depend upon these tips to be able to meet minimum wage. They won't make minimum wage without it?? This isn't table service. You order at the counter and they aren't at your table waiting on you. The owner, at a minimum, better Always be making up for any difference between tips and minimum wage. The more I thought about it, the more angry I became. $10 for a salad isn't like a $3 fast food combo meal. If I recall correctly, every meal starts around $10. There is room in that price to pay minimum wage. If not, hang it up! It is not mandatory - or even customary - to tip when ordering at the counter. This left a bad taste in my mouth that just couldn't be overcome by the great taste of their shrimp. Shame on the owner.

When they say jumbo shrimp, they mean it! Everything was cooked when we ordered it and lava hot when delivered to our table. I paid $10 for SO MUCH FOOD. Note to self: get double red beans and rice next time. They were the best I've ever had (better than some I once had in NOLA). The catfish was also delicious and I liked that their sauces appear to be homemade. The only negative was the dirty bathroom... So just avoid that! I'm not a TU student, but I noticed they offer a discount with that student ID. They gave us extra, which appears to be the norm for dine-in orders!

For fried country food, this is a good little place. I've sampled the buffalo wings, fried pickles, and chicken tenders, and fried shrimp for a take home dinner. All are nicely breaded and crispy. Their fries may not be crispy enough for everyone, but I enjoyed them as well. The pricing is fair, so it's also a good value. I haven't been in the shop, so I can't speak to the atmosphere, service, or other location details, but the food here is good, and my friends make it a regular "comfort food" stop, so that's what sold me on it. I'd like to dine in some time and try more from their menu and update my review. I'd recommend this place for those who want that good country fried indulgence.

Grabbed dinner here and it was hopping! A constant flow of people coming and going and they all had big bags of food and smiles. I had the 3 shimp, 3 chicken, and 3 fish, fried. It was served fast and still piping hot from the friers. The shirmp are huge and flavorfull, the chicken as well. The fish tasted fresh, if it was frozen I would be surprised. All in all a good place to grab a meal!

You must try the fried shrimp. They are large and taste great! Also the whole fried chicken wings are hot and tasty too! The fried fish is good also. Are you picking up on this fried theme yet? They also have grilled seafood. But, I have not tried it. My favorite sides are the beans and rice and the french fries. The other sides are just so so.

It's fast food. I guess it's supposed to be fat casual, but it felt more like a burger king. It seems that the girls behind the register hadn't been properly trained. They had no idea what was on the menu. When one of them delivered our Po' Boys, she called them "burgers" and when corrected, she said it was the same thing... The hush puppies were tiny, cold pieces of weirdness. The oyster po' boy was good. The veggies were crisp and fresh and the fried oyster was plentiful and full of flavor. The bread was the highlight, though, and it shouldn't have been. My boyfriend's fries were tasty, but obviously of the frozen variety. I really enjoyed the fried okra, but it was frozen, too. Boyfriend said he won't come back. I probably will to try the roast beef po boy.

We visited one of these in Louisiana a while back just found out there was one in Tulsa. Good sea food heart price. Watch what you order we got the 3 fish, 3 ousters and three shrimp. We received 4 fish 4 ousters and 4 shrimp 4 hush puppies. And it was hot and tasty. We will be back.

Clean facility. Nice friendly staff-fast service. Orders brought to your table. Kudo's to the cashier-she counted back my change. Ordered #25 6 piece fried (have choice of fried or grilled) shrimp. The shrimp was plump and enjoyable. When I bit into a shrimp, I was rewarded with a palate explosion. The lightly breaded batter had a great seasoning that stayed in my throat. 6 pieces more than satisfied my hunger. I got 2 sides-red beans and rice and Mac & Cheese. Red beans were good ( miss andouille sausage) and Mac was creamy cheese. Had to have a coke and 1/2 to temp the zing. Recommend

Everything about this place is tantalizing! From the moment we encountered the aroma of freshly prepared Cajun fries fish or red beans and rice, or the delicious smells once inside, to the actual meal itself, it is over the top wonderful! We ordered #36, three each chicken strips, fish fillets and jumbo shrimp. It was simply amazing! The shrimp are HUGE, as are the other items. Red beans and lice were worth coming in by itself. This place definitely gets five stars!!! We can't wait to come back and try the Philly cheesesteak or the Po Boys.

This place just opened and they have a little of everything. Seafood, chicken, burgers, gyros and phillies. Had a combo of fried shrimp, oysters, fish and a gyro. Everything was real hot and fresh! Looking forward to trying more of their delicious food!

My first visit to Sam's was at 3:00 on a weekday, a time I expected to be dead but there was a regular stream of diners coming through during my stay. The interior is clean with the log cabin paneling that I believe was inherited from the previous occupant. The cashiers were friendly and informative, helping customers who were unfamiliar with the menu with suggestions. I ordered the fried green tomato appetizer (because I'm a sucker for fgt) and the fried shrimp po' boy with Mac & cheese on the side. The tomatoes came in a large mounded pile, obviously breaded and fried fresh at time of ordering. They were very tasty, although not the best I've ever had. The jumbo shrimp on the sandwich were the definite stars of the meal. Plump, juicy, well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The sandwich roll was good but not exceptional. It was a pretty stellar po' boy, although the sauce could have been zestier. The macaroni was disappointing, with the sauce tasting processed. Sweet tea was spot on. The menu includes oysters, fish, chicken and burgers. Other sides include okra, gumbo, red beans and rice. I'll come back to try the seafood gumbo and the oysters. A quick fresh and affordable option for some great Southern tastes.

Been there 3 times now. I was impressed the first time, the staff was friendly and food was way above average for the 11 th street area. Second time was okay. Last night was a disaster. They were out of stuffed shrimp and oysters and the staff was obviously overwhelmed by the amount of business. They are a seafood restaurant and wait staff was pushing the chicken hard. 4:30 on Friday night is a bit early to be running out of food. Wait staff does the best they can but it looks like the management has issues. Too bad, the food is delicious and reasonably priced. This place has the potential to make money if they can get the business end together and hire more people to keep the line moving.

The fish and chicken are seasoned well and taste good. The shrimp is very large! But... the sides are just gross. The mac and cheese is especially disgusting. The potions are large - they do give you more than what the menu says and maybe if I just was stopping to pick up fish or chicken, etc, I'd come back.

Went back the next day for the fish/shrimp combo. Two pieces each on the menu, but I got 3 fish and 2 shrimp 'cause I'm so good looking. The shrimp are 3 bite shrimp - I agree with their tagline "home of the jumbo shrimp". They are battered, not breaded, and deep fried with tail on. It was so good I ate the tails because nothing was going to waste. The fish (catfish? swai? does it matter?) is cornmeal breaded and fried to the most perfect golden brown I've ever seen outside of my own kitchen. White River needs to up their game at this point. So hot my mouth is still in a little pain and I don't care. Delicate, buttery, perfect. Tarter sauce has a bit of cajun spice to it and the cocktail sauce is also well done. Sides didn't have much going for them - okra is standard frozen. Red beans and rice had good flavor, but 1/2 dozen beans with lots of liquid and a bit of rice swimming around was disappointing. I will be back for an oyster po'boy soon. For those of you who are concerned, most of the fish and shrimp options are also available grilled. A word of warning - put lids on your drink cups. I don't know if it's the table or the floors that are uneven, but I watched several drinks spill as the after church crowd settled into their seats.
