Small local authentic german restaurant. The interior decor reminds me of eating at my grandma's if she also lived inside a deli. Went on a friday night I got the jaeger schniztel. The sauce was good, the schnitzel was cripsy. The spaetzl need salt and the red cabbage had a taste of clove(?), which wasn't bad, but it also seemed a bit dry. All entrees also come with soup, which on friday's was goulash. It certainly helped warm me up, but wasn't as meaty or spicy as I usually prefer it. Portions compared to Siegi's are smaller. Don't know if Margaret's makes their own sausages but the ones I tried were good, especially the kasewurst (cheese sauge), which had the nice snap of the casing. Selection of beers is okay, but it's sad that they only come in bottles.

I was real disappointed with the quality of my food. All the vegetable in the "soup" more like a beef stew looked like they were from cans. The mushroom wine sauce that was on top of the chicken breast were processed not fresh. For the price of the meal one would think you could have fresh produce. The flavor of the meal was good. My husband's meal was better quality. I also viewed a microwave in the kitchen. Not a good sign with me in a restaurant. Like the food has been sitting and just needs heated up.

Meh. Being from Germany, I was excited to try this place but the results were mixed. The service was poor. The waiter didn't wait for my husband to place his order before taking off. We had to waive him down several times to order the rest of the food. He then forgot our silverware and we sat there staring at the food for almost 5 minutes before he finally brought the utensils. Needless to say, the food was cold by then. Finally, he made a mistake on my order and didn't apologize for it; The food was ok. It's definitely not authentic. The best parts of the meal were the Spaetzle (egg noodles) and the Goulash soup. Both of those things are to die for. The meat in the brats was too coarse (a huge no-no in Germany) and they grilled the Weisswurst instead of boiling it. The Rotkohl (red cabbage) was shredded too small, undercooked and too dry. The Sauerkraut had too much dill seed in it. And don't even get me started on the slimy potato salad. I don't think I have had a worse one so far. But if you have never had German good in Germany, you'll probably like this place because it's certainly more authentic than the majority of German places in the Midwest. For purists like me, this will be the first and the last time.

Well it was a slow night with lots of staff cleaning going on (that was always my favorite when I was in the industry.....) but the food did not disappoint. First off the portion was huge, and really not that expensive. I had the Wiener schnitzel with fried potatoes and kraut, I suggest you do the same! And btw, this is the first time I've tasted sauerkraut like my German grandmother made. If they have a special running with any kind of mustard sauce get that too. I'm going to top it all off with homemade Black Forest cake.

Tulsa's number one hidden gem! I don't venture out to the farm shopping center very often, but I'm going to be back many times to come to this place! I'll preface this review by saying that Oktoberfest is my second favorite holiday (second only to Christmas) and i love everything German. Margaret's was everything I hoped it would be. Steins on the walls, mural of Neuschwanstein castle, live accordion music, and of course, the excellent German food. We ordered a sampler plate for two with weisswurst, spatzle, sauerkraut, and schnitzel. Man oh man, it was amazing. I left feeling so full of delicious food and beer! The servers were all so great, and they even have a yelp check in offer going right now, so be sure to check in when you go! If you love Oktoberfest, and don't want to wait til oktober, get yourself over to Margaret's immediately! This is one of my new Tulsa favorites!

The wife and I graved some German food prior of going back home to Arizona. We choose this restaurant based on reviews and also after reading "about us" on the restaurant website where Margaret claims to be one of Tulsa best restaurateurs which obviously is a joke. We started out with the potato pancakes which were ok. The wife order the Leberkase while I choose the Zigeuner Schnitzel. The waiter did not give us the option between the soup or salad and served Goulash soup to the both of us. Too bad I don't like beef and the soup did not taste like any goulash soup I had before. Our entrees came within a reasonable time but imho must have been the most awful meal I had in a long time. The Schnitzel was dry and tasted like greasy deep fried food. The spätzle might have been home cooked while the red cabbage obviously was not. It is very seldom that I don't finish my plate but this food left such a horrible aftertaste in my mouth where I could not wait to get out. The wife's Leberkase also ended up in a to go container and the soft potato salad was just horrible. Sorry to say but I won't be back! Hope the owner takes this review to heart.

My partner and I came here with a Groupon. The decor and atmosphere were unique and inviting. There was a live accordion player for most of our visit. The service was OK. We ordered Bavarian pretzels for an appetizer and they were pretty average. Delicious, but average. We shared the special for two as our entrée. It arrived lukewarm. The wiener schnitzel was very good, but we didn't care for the smoked pork loin. The sauerkraut was good, but average. We found everything quite rich. Overall, the entrée was pretty forgettable. For dessert, we shared a slice of Bavarian apple cheesecake. This was by far the highlight of the experience - it was amazing! Though we probably won't come back for dinner, we will definitely come back to pick up a slice of cheesecake once in awhile.

I don't know where else in Tulsa you can get serenaded by accordion music while sitting under a wall mural reminiscent of The Sound of Music. Margaret's food is amazing! Most entrees come with Goulash, which could be a meal alone. All of the sausages are great. My favorite is the schitzel. Any dish with red cabbage will change your opinion on cabbage and Germany forever. They also have a German beer list and traditional German desserts like Apple Streudal. The service is always excellent. Everyone is nice and usually dresses in traditional German attire. Don't forget to buy some German gummy bears, chocolates, and mustard on the way out. Take your kids or a date. And eat everything.

Authentic German food in Tulsa Oklahoma! I chose Kassler Rippchen which is pork and sauerkraut. For the side I chose fried potatoes (not called French Fries on purpose?). This review is several weeks overdue so I forget the name of the soup but it was absolutely unique and amazing. I have never ever had better sauerkraut. This was far better than the type I used to eat as a Pennsylvania Dutch child (sorry Nana!) Again as a craft beer nerd the selection is important to me. Spaten is available in stores, but they offered Oktoberfest and Optimator. Prost!! My only complaint is how hard this place is to find. I drove past it three times, but it my persistence was well worth it. The genius is in the simplicity. I will be sure to take guests here.

The food was good, the pretzels were better. No beer on tap in a German restaurant was surprising to me. They did have bottles of German beer though. It is a small locally owned place where you could soon get to know everyone there and that would have value to me. Overall I liked it and I'll be back on occasion.

Seriously, is there any other place in Oklahoma you can get amazing authentic German food? One of my friends bought an entire German Chocolate Cake from here as a Christmas present to our office, and we've been hooked ever since...YUM! We go here regularly for lunch, which is a bargain, and the Goulash soup and sandwiches are AMAZING! It's not a fancy place, but it is sooo good. And I especially love that the German owner is in there every day working and getting to know the customers and paying attention to the details.

This is my favorite restaurant in all of Tulsa and I'm not even particularly keen on German food. Service is always friendly and fairly fast. I came in the first time after someone showed me a photo of their Triple Decker Reuben. That sandwich is just OK in comparison to other Reuben's you can get around town, but the waitress that day talked me in to trying their Pierogi's which they typically only have on special (you can usually find their specials on Facebook in the morning). Wow. Simply fantastic. I'm also a huge fan of their Hungarian Goulash special. If in doubt just ask the server for their recommendation. I tell people all the time to just get whatever they have on special if they go visit, you can't go wrong.

Excellent food. Had the polish sausage and kaeswurst. Best sauerkraut I have ever eaten. Delicious soup with fresh bread and butter to start the meal. Live accordion player.

If you go for the bratwurst or other sausages, I think you'll enjoy it. One of the people in our party had the Ruben. He enjoyed the sauerkraut, pickle and chips which came with the sandwich but was disappointed in the amount of meat on the sandwich. Be sure to check in as the currently (Sept 2014) offer a 10% Yelp check in discount. They also have apple strudel and cherry strudel which looked very good but we didn't order either. I did overhear the waitress say you can also get strudel to take home and bake yourself. That sounded interesting. Probably a good place to go if you're looking for an authentic German meal, I'd be interested to read reviews from Germans who ate there. If you order the soup, you get to serve yourself at the "soup bar" (which holds two trays of the same type of soup). Fill up your bowl as much as you'd like because if you return for seconds, it's $2 more. Still, $2 for a second bowl is a pretty good deal. Hope you enjoy it.

Just went in on a cloudy day with my father because we were in the mood for something different, needless to say we got different as well as authentic, comforting, filling, and delicious. I had been craving potato pancakes since Oktoberfest, like, two years ago and was thrilled to see they had them served with apple sauce. They were just what I craved! On top of those we ordered the special which came with more than we thought we could possibly eat, but it was so good we were able to find an empty leg or two to put it all away. Moreover, the ambiance was perfect- dim lighting complimented by soft German music. To top it all off we got some apple strudel and chose a chocolate from their large selection of hard to find foreign sweets. Perfectly unassuming German restaurant to make a great memory!

I love German food but this place doesn't measure up. To start, the service was very poor. They appeared to be short-staffed, which I could tolerate, but that doesn't explain serving me something I did not order and then running off. I had to get another server to fix it. When my order finally arrived, it was so over salted I could barely eat it. They serve beer and wine but not one non-alcoholic beer. I ordered an iced tea. They forgot to bring it. When they brought my food I had to ask for silverware. How many things can you do wrong in one visit?

The lunch special of parroigi was a special delight. Tasty meat filled pasta half circles with sour cream. German chocolate cake was the best I've have ever eaten. So moist. Cherry strudel pastry was light and good.

Nice menu - good service - ( we had a party of 8) will be back for sure . They do need a better storm door as it was very cold and drafty when customers came in )

After starting a new job in August, my former coworker (who got me the new job) turned me on to Margaret's. Especially on Fridays when they have a special on the Goulash. That is almost a meal in itself. So far I've had the Reuben Sandwich (superb) and the Chicken Schnitzel (also good with the hot potato salad and sauerkraut). The wait staff is excellent and very friendly. The owner takes great pains to make her customers happy and comfortable as she checks on each frequently. This is truly a gem at the Farm.

I was raised in the Netherlands, and spent a few years living along the German border. So I hope to be able to convince you that Margaret's is the real deal. It's small, the opening hours are a little unusual, and the food portions are un-American. Which is exactly why I love it here! This small restaurant is a great place for a date, with a small room at the back, where on Saturday nights you will find a talented accordionist playing authentic German songs. Alongside the fantastically painted murals of Southern Germany, you'll find Margaret herself helping serve you, while the servers don Bavarian outfits. Do check the opening hours before you make a trip here. I believe Yelp is once again up-to-date, but they started opening on certain evenings again last year. The food portions are small for the US, but German food is hearty and you won't leave hungry, I promise. Drink a good German beer while you're here and you most definitely will be stuffed!! Best of all is the little deli counter where you can buy imported German produce, for trying some of the recipes at home. I highly recommend the Schnitzel, their pretzels, and any dark beer they serve here! ;)

Loved every bit of our experience. Having lived in Germany for a short while Margaret's dishes brought me back. Great atmosphere. Food tasted just as I had remembered it in Germany. Margaret's Special for Two was perfect for a couple wanting to sample a bit of everything. Sauerkraut was very good and authentic. Chicken and Dumpling Soup was a perfect appetizer. If we lived in Tulsa we would eat at Margaret's regularly.

All the staff were very nice. The room off the main area was colder instead of warmer, like I thought it might be, of course, it is 16 degrees. We got coffee, since it was so cold, it tasted like 100% chicory. :-(. They give you buttered light rye to snack on. My husband and I are not good judges of authenticity, even if we are part Deutsch. He didn't like the goulash and spaetzle, I thought it was okay, nice and spicy. The spaetzle was crunchy, um no, that isn't right. My Reuben sandwich was good and I would recommend it. They have a few shelves of German grocery items. They had a few desserts in the cold case, but they looked dried out. The Black Forest cake didn't even call mein Name.

I love this place! Went here for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. There was an accordion player in the back room. I'm not sure if he's always there, but I hope so! It really made the whole experience along with the German waitress I assume is Margaret. It was so quaint and cozy. The wurst platter was delicious along with the goulash that comes with entrees. The wiener schnitzel was my favorite! This was the first time I had spatzle and I won't be trying it again. Hopefully next time I can save room for dessert, but I doubt it!

The owner (andrew)... recently called my review untrue. Sorry andrew but your lieing.. everythng I said was factual. .and is born out by other reviews about the restaurant. Agreed that historicially the place was good food & service. But it only took one bad experience to kill our interest in ever wasting time on this restaurant.. Short of a direct and personal apology... your restaurant and you can go 'jump in the lake' ... I would say something stronger, but it would be banned for profanity. Fact is if you are tolerating this kind of confrontation, no wonder the quality & service vary.. btw 25+ years of being in business. is a good indication, but that doesnt mean you will last another 25 years. The reality is that even before our bad experience, the food did vary but not enough to matter to us. But we did observe others being confronted about tipping and even other things. I did notice that some customers felt a lot of the 'german' stuff was authentic? I could care less if the mugs or products were legit... what matter is the food. For me some of it is authentically german.. some isnt. But I dont care on that if the food is good.. But like a recent effort by a new shotgunsams ..being authentic can be as important as the quality .. the new ss tried to lay claim to the oriignal style and failed on quality and style and even attitude. As 18+ year veteran of food service (from busboy to manager) and being a past chef... I can attest your food when at its best was very good.. and service was usually good enough.. and a couple of times was excellent. if not for this one experience this place would get a 3 or 4 stars.. If it was consistantly good ... even 5.. even before this experience. it never was better than a 3. Our overall tipping total to Marges restarunt was around $500 but will be zero from now on.. My overall tipping yearly is around $2500.. Note that that mean that your place got probably more tips than any other place we ate at. Admittedly, a large % of that $$ was per living 2 blocks away from you since early 2014.. despite having eaten there for 20+ years. Not anymore. Per the bad experience that in 2015 you wont even be on the list. I would rather get a bad pizza from hideway or cici's than eat at Margarets. But for me it all comes down to the confrontation. Fortunately you are not the only place to eat quality food and quality service. Btw, your service and food quality have in fact varied .... Thats on you. Btw, While I cant prove it.. Others can.. and besides other reviews are showing similar indications of somewhat poor service or food at time. Everything I said is true.. it is you that is being at least in this context being untrue.

Do you know about this place? If not, grab yourself as fast as you can and get there now. I was skeptical at first, seeing as german food is hard to find. We walked in, to which Margaret seated us, and our waitress came, and she had a great attitude. I ordered the Jägerschnitzel, which came with two sides, which I chose red cabbage and fried potatoes. I got the food and everything was to die for, and you could tell they really care about what they are doing. The only complaint I have for the food, is that the fried potatoes needed more seasoning. I would go back any time I am in Tulsa, and look forward to the next time I can make it back.

My wife and I went here today for the first time. I'd been familiar with Siegi's for years as well as the now long-gone Ursula's, but I didn't know about Margaret's until recently. The Farm isn't quite in our neighborhood, so we had to kind of make plans to head out that direction. We we happy to find out that it was worth the short trip. The atmosphere is bit quainter than Siegi's, with low lighting and live accordion music accompanying dinner this Saturday evening. The prices are fairly comparable though, while the portions are a bit smaller. That in itself isn't at all a bad thing in my book, as each time I've eaten at Siegi's I've been overstuffed afterwards. Tonight, I ended up having a Wiener schnitzel special with accompanying goulash (German-style, rather than Hungarian), while my wife had a wurst platte and salad. The schnitzel was fantastic; lots of flavor, lightly breaded, and not too heavy. The wurst platte is basically a sampler of four halves of different sausages, sliced up into several pieces. Somewhat oddly, the weisswurst was grilled, rather than boiled, but it was otherwise tasty. Bratwurst, knackwurst, and a Polish sausage made up the other three - all quite tasty. We indulged in a slice of Black Forest cake for dessert, which was surprisingly light and nicely moist. I had a bit more mixed feelings about the service. The owner greeted us when we entered and courteously explained the specials shortly after we'd settled into our seats, which was nice. A male waiter went on to help us afterwards, taking both our drink and food orders. Once we'd been served our food though, it seemed like we were kind of forgotten about. Granted, we were on the far side of the room, and it was a busy evening with every table filled. But, we watched numerous customers leave who'd come after we'd arrived before anyone (in this case, a different waitress) dropped by to clear our table and ask about dessert. We waited an equally strange amount of time before the same waitress came by to ask if we'd gotten our check. Then the check came back at about $30 higher than it should have been. That was promptly corrected, fortunately (calculator problem?), but it doesn't send the best message to a first-time visitor. A side gripe of sorts concerns the beer. Nice selection of several German standards, but only in bottles? That's one area where Siegi's definitely has them beat out. If I'm going to go out for a German dinner, it'd be nice to get something on draft, rather than buy the same thing that I can regularly get at my neighborhood liquor store. A couple complaints aside, we were both very pleased with the food and had a relaxing, enjoyable dinner. Perhaps it's not quite on par with what you'd have in Deutschland proper, but for Tulsa it's pretty dang good. On that note, I'm giving it four stars, rather than the three I was considering. Assuming that we just came on an off-day service-wise, we'll certainly go back again.

We stumbled upon Margaret's one day when we were in The Farm Shopping Center. Ever since our discovery, it is a place we frequent when we're in the mood for German food! Today was a great experience as usual. The waitstaff is extremely attentive and provides great service. They are always so friendly and can always answer questions about the menu, since I never know what type of sausage to get (bratwurst, kaeswurst, knackwurst and the list goes on). The house specialties are usually served with hot potato salad and sauerkraut. The potato salad is absolutely amazing and has bits of meat mixed in making it super tasty. I have tried at least 6 different types of sausages by now, but can't keep any of them straight so I guess it will be up to you to try them all and see what your favorite is! Don't forget to say Hi to Margaret and read her story on the back of the menu. It's worth it. :)

I enjoy going to Margaret's especially because of Margaret and the staff! They are very friendly! I've ordered the perogi special and the schnitzel sandwich and both were yummy. My favorite part had to be the rye bread/butter they bring you while you're waiting though. I also pick up German bologna, Fleischkaese, and chocolate to go. I keep going for the decent prices and tasty food!

A co-worked told me great thing about this place so I decided to check it out, and oh she was spot on! I had the chicken schnitzel sandwich and it was great - reminded me of Oktoberfest, but better! Zesty mayo was very different and especially good! This place is no where near where I work or live, but I will definitely check it out for dinner / happy hour soon!

I usually get takeout at Margaret's. The Goulash on Fridays and Saturdays is nothing short of tremendous. Especially on cold winter days, it hits the spot. Anytime I cook out and serve Brats, I always get my saurkraut from Margarets - it's perfectly seasoned and can't be beat. Margaret's also sells a variety of German grocery items like Rosti potatoes if you are cooking at home. For good service and great food, I recommend Margaret's.

Very nice quant German interior, kind of hard to find in the strip mall. Table was not clean. I ordered Chicken Kloster sp?. It was essentially a rolled up chicken cordon bleu. It melted in the mouth. It was incredible. I came with fresh and light buttered spatezel. I prefer gravy/sauce on it but none was offered. Buttered rye bread was offered on the side and was delicious. I also had the sausage plate appetizer and found it to be very good and authentic.

Wow, Margaret's is absolutely a must-try location for German food in Tulsa. Nice homey atmosphere, very friendly service, fantastic food, and great prices. We tried the Wurst Plate sampler of homemade sausages and sauerkraut for $5.99. We were there for lunch and got the Reuben and Holzfeller (hot ham & swiss sandwich between two potato pancakes). We thought the Reuben was spectacular until we tried the Holzfeller - out of this world! Their desserts looked wonderful (Bavarian Apple Cheesecake, German Chocolate Cake, Streudels) - look forward to trying those next time, along with dinner options such as Jager Schnitzel and Spaetzle. They also have a counter where you can purchase sausages, desserts, and German food supplies. They have a selection of bottled German beers along with wine. Definitely give it a try!!!
