I go as often as my budget will allow and I love it. The service isn't always great, especially if I'm sat in the bar area and served by a certain waitress, but they're still friendly. I LOVE the Italian nachos with chicken, Sicilian fire sticks, stuffed mushrooms, and tier mozzarella sticks. (I alternate between these appetizers.) They serve a small loaf of bread with spiced oil over roasted garlic, but I always add balsamic vinegar. It doesn't need it, I just love the flavor it brings. Your meal is served with soup or salad. The house salad is just okay in my opinion. The Caesar is better, but sometimes overdressed. I have them add fresh cracked pepper to mine. As far as soup goes, they have three. Italian chili (which is my favorite), minestrone (which is good), and potato (which comes from a bag and isn't great). If you're a first time visitor I recommend the chicken bow tie festival--add jalapeño of you like spice!

Dinner, do not sit at the Bar if you want Good Service... I order a bear and food and Never heard from the bar maid again. Never asked if I need anything else, how the food was or if I needed another beer.. The place was pretty empty, it was a Monday night before football season. The food was Ok.

Worst example of Italian food I have ever experienced. If you want screaming children and uninformed waitresses this is the place to come. This restaurant leaves you with a temptation to never eat Italian food again if this were even Italian food in the first place.

Bring a book; you'll need it. The service here is super slow. We ate here today and the drinks took 15 minutes to arrive. It took 30 minutes for an appetizer. Hubby ordered spaghetti and meatballs which he enjoyed. I ordered a pepperoni pizza which was well, decent. Even the red velvet cheesecake was just decent. It was quite a long time before we ate lunch and even though the food was decent, we won't be back.

Ok, maybe it was a bad day, I don't know. What I do know is how unimpressed and disappointed I was about my dinner. So this review is coming the day after a night filled with a bubbling tummy and shots of Pepto Bismol-MAX! All I know is I will not ever, EVER, frequent this establishment again. I probably won't drive down 41st in fear of running into seeing Johnny Carinos on the street corner! Anyways, it all started with a trip there with my daughter and a Groupon. I saw the pictures and reviews on Yelp and thought I'd give them a try. We got there a little after 4 and were seated promptly. I must say that the restaurant decor is very nice and the atmosphere was calm and pleasant. I liked that they had old pictures on the walls and that the restaurant was clean. Our server attended to our table quickly and was very nice. We ordered waters and needed some time to look at the menu since we had never been there before. She informed us of the happy hour specials (4-7) where the mini apps and specific beers were discounted and then gave us time to look things over. My daughter chose the Italian pot roast with potatoes and a Ceaser salad and since I wasn't to hungry decided on the wedge salad and a few of the mini apps. I ended up choosing the stuffed mushrooms, the calamari and the fire sticks. I wanted my apps as a meal so I asked for all of it to come out at once. Now, this is where it starts to go south. After our waitress took our order she brought us a small plate back that was covered with oil and some seasonings in it and a paper sack that apparently our small loaf of bread was in. Now I've had the oil mixture at Zio's before and liked that but I'm not sure what was in the oil mixture here. I saw oil and seasonings but there was something small and hard in it as well. My daughter and I threw around the idea of crushed up peanuts or garlic. Whatever it was it was the bread didn't pick it up very well and it was chewy and stuck in your teeth. After eating our bread and scraping up the mystery pieces and picking it out of our teeth our food came out. Everything LOOKED fine, and then we tasted it. Now I'm not a picky eater, by no means, but come on...did they run out of seasonings for the food? The pot roast my daughter had was very bland and the 3 cubed potatoes it came with were small and shouldn't even have been mentioned in the meal title on the menu. The Ceaser salad looked good but we ended up asking for more dressing since it was a little dry. Now I was looking forward to trying my stuffed mushrooms since I love the ones at Olive Garden. The 3 mushrooms I had on the plate were covered in some kind of very bland sauce, over cooked, you know how the ones at a Chinese buffet look that have been sitting out all day...and honestly I couldn't tell you if they were stuffed or not because I truly could not tell. Next in line was the calamari. It was lukewarm and very chewy. They looked like small little onion rings. I tried to dip them in the marinara sauce it came with to liven things up a bit but that wasn't gonna work. My next item on the happy hour mini app special we're the fire sticks. Now these were ok. They were almost like a southwestern Eggroll app you would get at some other places (the name eludes me at the moment) it was filled nicely, the flavor was ok and it came with a mild ranch dipping sauce. Last but not least, my wedge salad. The salad wedge was small and covered with the usual...dressing, cheese, bacon bits, etc. I actually enjoyed the salad. I did ask for a side of ranch for it but was pleased with the flavor combinations that came on it. We opted to pass on dessert since we didn't have room. Though the food wasn't great we still ate it since I was always taught not to waste food growing up and I'm trying to pass that on to my daughter as well, but honestly, I would not return because of this experience. I really had high hopes for this place but I will have to stick with my Olive Garden for now and try some of the other Italian offerings in Tulsa. Sorry Johnny!

My wife and I chose to eat at this Carino's simply because it was a convenience. It had been 3 years since we last had eaten here. At the time the prices we're getting way too high and the food was just so-so...We went in with a fresh take, and we were pleasantly surprised! If you eat between 4-7pm on the weekdays, there is an appetizer happy hour that offers small portions for just $2.99. We split the italian nachos, which were delicious and plenty big for just the 2 of us. The average entree price is about $13.99, but you do get a salad of your choice and all you can eat bread with your meal. By the time I got to my entree, I took over half of it home. I had ordered the skillet spaghetti with pepperoni, black olives, mushrooms, onions and peppers topped with cheese and marinara. Very tasty indeed! We will be back for another happy hour here soon.

I went in based on Dustin E.'s review. I figured it was another Olive Garden type chain restaurant and was not disappointed. Reasonably priced Italian food, not overly authentic in taste, but still tasty nonetheless. If you've been to an Olive Garden or a Carabbas, this is similar. I'm not a fan of the bread, but the others in my party were, so I guess it's just down to taste. I had the pot roast with roast potatoes and it was good. Prices are about what you'd expect, with entrees in the mid teens and appetizers for $3.99 upwards. I did have a tiramisu dessert, but I'd skip it next time... I'm a little particular about how tiramisu is made and I didn't like theirs. Which doesn't mean it was bad though!

My husband and I went to Johnny Carino's we normally go to Olive garden but wanted something different so Johnny Carino's it was. So I got chicken Alfredo and it was so so much better than Olive garden's the service was great I have acid reflux really bad and normally can't eat chicken at restaurants due to their spices but the waitress answered every question and if she didn't know she asked her gm... I couldn't eat all of my food so I took it home and just warmed it up to finish it... no grease and tastes even better than it did earlier! This is our new go to restaurant only thing that will be missed at Olive garden will be their salad but you can buy their dressing now so no biggie!

CORPORATE ITALIAN We took a day trip to Tulsa from Arkansas and stopped in here for lunch. It's quite similar to Romano's Macaroni Grill and other corporate chains such as Ruby Tuesday. We had Spicy Shrimp & Chicken served with penne pasta, cayenne pepper (not much), Romano cream sauce, mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes & green onions, and the Jalapeno Garlic Tilapia. It was sautéed in a lemon butter cream sauce & served with garlic, a little spinach, Roma tomatoes & angel hair pasta. Both meals were good, but not great. Both pastas were slightly over-done & not exactly al dente. The tilapia was mushy. The pre-meal bread was soft, greasy & lacking in taste. The Caesar salad dressing was a little sour and far too ample. No anchovies were offered. A pleasant and filling dumbed-down Italian meal. Nothing special here.

Worst Italian experience I have had in 10 years at the one at 41st and Sheridan. Went in around 6:00 pm sat at the bar. It was easily 85 degrees inside. I ordered the chicken fettucine alfredo and a glass of chianti banfi wine. They gave me a tasteless lump they called bread. Apparently they have never eaten the bread at their competitors the olive garden or Romano's. The wine was $12 for the glass, which is exactly what you would pay for the bottle at a liquor store. The pasta arrived and tasted just like the noodles you get out of a pouch at the supermarket for 2.75. There was no grilled chicken breast on top, just chicken bits that obviously came out of can and would have been right at home in my dog's premium dog food. The sauce and noodles were watery and runny, they managed to take a sauce that's ingredients are parmigiano, cream and butter...and make it the consistency and flavor of dish water. Final total out the door with tip: $35. I am absolutely ashamed that I payed that for that crap, I will NEVER EVER go back, and talk this crap hole down to anyone who will listen until the sting of this travesty goes away. Buyer beware.

This is a small local chain restaurant in the area on 41st near the I-44 interchange. Efficient & friendly service. Dane and I split the excellent Italian Wedge for $3.49 with an entree...Iceberg wedge, applewood smoked bacon, candied pecans, gorgonzola, roma tomatoes and apple slices. Served with roasted garlic ranch....really good but a bit too small for two people. I had the Spicy Shrimp and Chicken for $12.99....Penne pasta, cayenne pepper romano cream sauce, mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes and green onions which was very good, creamy and well prepared. Shrimp were perfectly cooked and not overdone, chicken nicely seasoned and moist, not tough at all. This is also a "family style" Italian restaurant where you can order a couple of large dishes to share for multiple people....includes classic Italian dishes, sangria, pannins, etc. Nicely decorated, romantic lighting, full bar....dinner for two was about $35 We'll be back!

I love Italian food, but that also makes me really critical of those kinds of restaurants. Carino's definitely delivers. I hate to go to an Italian place and they give you lonely stale bread and butter. This place gives you freshly cooked seasoned bread with oil. I've been here at least 3 different times and ordered 3 different things. Although not everything was spectacular, it was definitely good. Customer Service -- 9/10 Atmosphere -- 8/10 Food -- 8/10 Price -- 9/10 (they don't buy cheap ingredients to serve)

Johnny Carino's is a casual Italian restaurant that has good food, reasonable prices, and well-trained staff. Personally, I go for the Skilletini. It's a good place for a "more than fast food" lunch or a nice casual dinner. It's not going to be a memorable meal like you'd find at a high-end Italian joint, but it'll be good.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
