Tucked away next to Ace Hardware is this hearty place I'm a fan of breakfast items in. It's quaint diner-esque charm is abundant with antique-ish decor and lots of booth space. My favorite menu item is the build your own omelete. I get mine loaded with veggies on egg whites and a side of hashbrowns. I will warn you about adding cheese to the omelete as they pile it in. Perhaps just ask for a little bit if you don't want the generous heap. Same goes for the hashbrowns - you can get add-ons like onions and cheese. Adding cheese is them just placing a slice of kraft style american cheddar atop those already perfectly crisp hashbrowns. Portion sizes are huge so come hungry!

Not sure what yahoos have been reviewing Jimmy's Egg, but it deserves much more love than it's getting. Jimmy's Egg is by far the best restaurant "chain" out there. It's one of those joints that you always struggle with choosing what you want to eat because there are so many things you like. The "Biscuit Debris" is somewhat akin to crack (although I cannot speak directly to that), and the granola pancakes are also great. All that said, lately I have ended up with one of the skillet orders, which has more potatoes in it than a french fry delivery truck.

Heavy, but hearty. Jimmy's Egg is like an IHOP or Denny's, but personally I like it a lot better. The service is extremely quick and very friendly. Their breakfast is pretty greasy, but really, who doesn't want a down and dirty breakfast sometimes? I love the garbage breakfast which comes with ground up sausage, bell peppers, and onions all underneath a layer of crispy hash browns and eggs any way you like it. You definitely get a bang for your buck. For your health, I would advise not finishing it unless you're super hungry, it's quite a hefty portion size. Overall, I think it's a great price for the meal and service you receive!

I have morning breakfast at the 41st & Peoria location several times a week and sometimes coffee with friends during the day. Lots of spacious booths and friendly wait staff. Only thing that bothers me is the dark atmosphere with the shades drawn 24/7. Raise the shades, folks! Let the sunshine in and let passers-by know you're open for business and not closed with the lights off!

First time at this chain - had to wait ~10 minutes for a table even though there appeared to be plenty open. Their system for seating folks is horribly inefficient. I ordered some sort of southwestern omelet - should have requested the "salsa" on the side as it tasted like mostly tobasco sauce from a can. It was the farthest thing form salsa I could imagine and it almost ruined the meal for me. Coffee re-fills were sparse and had to be requested. Server was cold, sharp and militant; it felt like we were being scolded the entire time. Won't be back, at least not at this location.

My friend Greg and I have been having breakfast on Fridays for many years. This week we visited Jimmy's Egg near 41st and Peoria. Located next to a hardware store in a former Homeland Jimmy's Egg is a pleasant, friendly spot. We were able to seat ourselves at a spacious booth, and were immediately greeted by our waitress who brought coffee (free on Friday to all Jimmy's Egg Facebook Fans!) There was a wide selection of breakfast options: traditional egg dishes, pancakes and waffles, but the highlight is reserved for the omelettes. I had the Baja omelette: three eggs, bacon, avocado, tomato and cheese, with a side of home fries and wheat toast. Hash browns, biscuits and gravy, grits or fresh fruit are other side options. My omelette was great. The ingredients were well seasoned and tasty. Avocado in an omelette is wonderful combined with melted Monterey Jack cheese. The home fries were standard as was the toast. My friend had a "make your own" omelette that looked very good, although I'm not a fan of green olives for breakfast! All-in-all Jimmy's Egg on Peoria is a keeper. It seems to be turning into a neighborhood spot. We ran into a group of friends who were there and had a mini reunion. We'll be back for another visit soon, since they are also open for lunch.

Breakfast fail: Don't know who to blame but service was awful. Just multiple failures for good service. Simple things like making sure the table has utensils, not pouring coffee to the brim, spilling coffee in the process making it impossible to add cream or sugar without making a mess, bringing butter for French toast. The food was subpar as well. Pancakes were over cooked almost burnt. Had to wait a really long time for a refill. Management problem or bad server?- I'm not sure.

Overall just average food and prices. Next to ACE Hardware on Peoria, very nicely decorated inside was a pleasant surprise. This chain was clean, well lighted and pleasant. Big menu and Ok service. Baja Omelet was kinda skimpy but tasty with bacon, avocado & cheese. Fine hash browns and biscuites and gravy. Banana/pecan pancakes were also good but they were not the light and fluffy kind I like but heavy and dense cakes. Coffee average. Very busy this Sunday late morning and quite loud. $30 for three breakfasts.
