This place is great! Super good service and a great atmosphere. Only took about 10 minutes to sit down and have our food delivered to the table.

The food tastes ok. However, the part where it comes to the liquid seasonings where they meter out how much you can have is for the birds. In a traditional Mongolian BBQ place you can put as much liquid seasonings as you pleased to. I'll also note that when in comes to ordering the starch you better speak spanish, or otherwise God knows what you'll get. I learned to say aroz cafe in order to get brown rice. Genghis grill also doesn't have the plum sauce that you might find at a more traditional Mongolian BBQ place. Going to Genghis Grill is fun, and the food does taste good. However, it's more like a sports bar that serves Mongolian BBQ, rather than a real Mongolian BBQ place.

I really love this place. Its basically a build your own meal. You go in, the hostess grabs you a seat and the server comes over to explain how it works. They give you a bowl and a small container for your sauce. They have kids size as well. Tuesday nights kids eat free with purchase of adult meal. The servers are hit and miss. I've noticed some get flustered easy and dont check on their tables enough. But the meal is great. You take your bowls and pick your protein, pick your seasoning, pick your vegetables, you get to taste test the sauces, and then you get to pick your starch. My kids love the fact that they get to pick what they eat. From here it is put on a large grill and cooked to perfection. This is really a great place to eat, I go here very often.

Have been here half a dozen times or more. The best part in my opinion about this format is that if you don't like your food... it's probably your own fault. You can concoct basically anything. It is a salad bar-esque setup with meats, veggies, addons, sauces etc. You pick what you want to make and they cook it up for you. It is wonderful. The service is hit and miss sometimes but then again all you really need is a drink, and a refill from time to time.

Genghis Grill is a fun place to eat and have dinner with a group of friends. I'll let you in on my secret on how to get the most food for your money: I fill my bowl 3/4 full with the different types of meat that I like. My favorites are pork, sausage, scallops and sliced beef. All the seasonings are great, but I really like the citrus garlic herb and cajun seasoning. With any room left, I pack on the vegetables and push it down with my hand (make sure you've already washed your hands!). For sauces, I like the 3G, but you can taste them before you choose. The last part is the best. You can pick two starches, so if you get any type of rice (brown rice is my favorite) with udon noodles, it makes your order huge! I can never finish my meal and always take the rest home for lunch the next day. Enjoy!

Sort of a fast food place but not really. I enjoy Chinese type food. This Mongolian grill has a good selection of ingredients and sauces. We were able to create a nice, tasty lunch that was freshly prepared with the items we chose. Like the guy in front of me in line said "If you don't like it, it's your own fault". We had an excellent waiter and all the staff was friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my lunch very much.

I've been to this place twice. I just don't get it. Overpriced. Seems unsanitary. You use the serving tools everyone else uses and you reach far back behind the sneeze guard and your arm and sleeve is over the other raw meats. Then after the raw protein experience with messy dropped bits everywhere, you get to pick your vegetables and then your seasonings. The seasonings are a challenge since I DO NOT HAVE A CLUE AS TO WHAT THEY ARE and am taking a very big risk that I am ruining my food. Which I did the second time. I ordered pot stickers which were served warm and as I got through them realized the chicken looked like it was uncooked and a little translucent. On top of that it is overpriced. I just don't get it. I don't know how to cook with those spices and that is what you are expected to do and then on top of that it just seems kind of unsanitary and unappetizing to see an array of raw meat.

I loved being able to build my own meal from scratch. You pick your protein (chicken, beef, pork, marinated steak, shrimp, etc), veggies, seasoning, sauce, starch and then its grilled for you and brought to your table. Wish Tucson had one, but guess I'll have to check out one in Phoenix now.

Acceptable, but the service, quality, speed, seating etc not near as great as the Dallas location.

  • Robert B.

Not very interesting. Meats, veggies, sauces are all ok, but the whole experience is kind of mediocre. Tables are crammed inside, you sit way to close to other people. Feels very much like a chain restaurant. If you enjoy the local Applebee's you'll like this place.

I truly love the idea of Genghis Grill and appreciate the healthy approach. I have been a handful of times and love getting coupons in the mail! It's like a Subway of Rice Bowls only you DIY. At first this concept kind of worried me as a free for all germ-fest since you are not required to wear gloves but, it is always kept relatively clean. The staff is consistently kind and helpful for newcomers. Once seated, there is a waitstaff through which you order drinks and any appetizers or desserts. Seating is abundant with booth-space and tables. Televisions generally are kept on sports channels. There is a full bar so I may make put this on my list of places to watch Thunder games! In general, I'm not head-over-heals in love with the food. The produce never looks exceptionally fresh before it's cooked and I can taste a difference. When I pay full price without a coupon, I never feel like the amount of $ was worth the bowl of food.

This might sound a bit harsh but I call it like I see it. Today was my first time at this restaurant and the first thing I see are dirty dishes. Like caked on junk on my bowl. The server was nice and got me a new one so hey, no big deal. I hit the food line to load up my plate (it's the type of place you grab some food and the place cooks it up for you) This was a bit of a turn off. You shuffle through a buffet style line and grab raw meats to have cooked up for you. I mean raw chicken is hanging next to raw pork. Salmonella poisoning anyone? It not my cup of tea but again I can let it slide a bit. When it comes down to the meal it was ok, but just ok. Ultimately the food was nothing special and reminiscent of something from the freezer isle at the grocery store. The flavors didn't do much and the food was kinda bland. Over all it's just a so so place.

When we walked in we asked to sit outside due to having a service dog. We said No! We were seated inside. We I got my bowl, it was dirty! The lady was not happy when I said something. It took a long time us to get waited on. Not sure we will go back. Not handicap accessible at all making it hard for my hard for my husband and for our dog.

  • Al G.

It is a chain so .. It is nothing special. The food was good and service was good. You get to pick what you want them to make for you. The choices are great and you have a tone of stuff that you can add.

Dear Genghis Grill, Thank you oh so very much for giving me the Genghis Growl (courtesy of Megan) that I recently discovered after dining here with my father on Monday. We sat down and were greeted by a lovely lady (whom I'm pretty sure I went to middle school with, yet I declinded saying so/asking her) who asked if we had been here before. We both reply no and she tells us to grab our bowls and follow her. We arrive to a long line and she the proceeded to give us a 5 minute schpiel on how it works. So basically, we stood in a long ass line and our first stop was at a buffet of raw meats. Delicious. You can choose as many meats as you want, so I of course started cramming chicken and marinated steak into my bowl. Step 2 is to season your meat, I obviously chose cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes, garlic salt, and any other sort of HOT spice. The spice collection is pretty broad ranging from cajun seasoning to citrus garlic herbs! After seasoning your meat, step 3 (yes, I feel like I'm singing dick in a box) is to pick your veggies. I piled my veggies high as there are about 20 different options to choose from. The last two steps are choosing a sauce **BEWARE** If you put your sauce in your bowl, you'll have to start all over (no, this didn't happen to me)! They only tell you that about 20 times after being seated that the sauce must go on the side! After that, you verbally tell the cooks what starch you'd like. You can choose noodles, brown rice, fried rice, or white rice. Not a fun experience; more like overwhelming and too much hard work. I'd rather be a lazy fatass and have them prepare the bowl for me. Who knows how long those raw meats sit out for? Sick. I still have the Genghis Growl.

I don't even know what to say about this place, except I wouldn't go back. I have never had a pot sticker, but snot wrapped chicken would have been a better name. The instructions about building you bowl made it seem very complicated. It comes down to what kind of meat and veggies do you want. The sauces is where you have the opportunity to ruin your food, which we did. I don't understand piling everything on top of each other, you always stir fry meat first and put it to the side. Depending on the vegetable and size it chopped, it cooks at different rates. You can't dump it in a pile and cook it till the meat is done because the veggies will be overdone and limp by the time the meat is done. Both of ours tasted burned and over cooked. It was very loud, echoing and frenetic atmosphere, which I loath. The employees very nice, I felt sorry for them having to work there. They have a bar and if you decide to go, a couple of drinks and you might have a 3 star experience.

Genghis Grill is a franchise chain of Mongolian barbecue restaurants with locations throughout the southern U.S. They have 4 locations in Oklahoma including one in the Cherry Street District of Tulsa. Generally I avoid chain restaurants, especially in towns that offer a wealth of unique local cuisine. We were meeting up with friends who were planning to have dinner and since we had just eaten we planned to only have drinks. Usually fast-food oriental restaurants do not have a full bar so I was surprised to find one here. The friends eat here often and like it. The concept is basic ... there are 3 types of "bowl" that the customer can build: the Build Your Own Bowl, the Build a Genghis Bowl and several Signature Bowls that are already pre-built. Each comes at a fixed price. I have been to single-location Mongolian stir-fry restaurants with a similar concept in which the customer chooses one or more finely slivered meats, adds their choice of vegetables and douses it with one or more sauces then hands it to the cook who spreads it on a hot grill in front of you and then scoops the whole thing back into the bowl a couple of minutes later. One cook would prepare lunch for 50-75 customers and still have them back to work before their lunch-hour ended. Genghis Grill loses much of that magic because once the customer hands the bowl off they seat themselves and the cooked meal is brought to them at the table. Despite being there on a weekday night and the fact that the restaurant was only about 1/3 full it took an inordinately long time for the meal to be brought to the table. And that's with several cooks working at the same time on your bowl. That also takes away the enjoyment of being able to dig in while the food is still sizzling off the grill, by the time it is brought to the table it looked a little limp. Not surprisingly the food line is overdone with "instructions" on how to build a bowl and has a lot of a McDonald's look to it. For some strange reason Genghis Grill absolutely forbids putting the sauce on in the traditional way before the food is cooked. That idea turned me off. Our drinks were large and reasonably priced with a lot of "themed" names and the overall décor is a little more casual than similar places like Pei Wei. On the quality of food they rate a 3, however the slowness of preparation and the price per bowl slides their rating down to a 2. What saves Genghis Grill from a sub-average 3 though was the server, Maximillian. Though young (maybe 18) his people skills and anticipation of customers' needs are absolutely first rate. Our friends had their young daughter with them and Maximillian was very tuned in to the special needs of a child. He was nearby just when we needed him but was never overbearing. As a customer it is satisfying to pull a restaurant up an entire point based solely on the service provided by one individual.

Heads up, this place is no longer unlimited! My server mislead us by telling us to trying many different things as we could and to make sure you 'load it up'. No where did the waiter say that it was ONE TIME ONLY. When inquiring about this change in policy, the server was not very polite handling the situation. Though it was my first time back in a very long time, it was suddenly MY FAULT that I didn't know that the policy changed. He made it a point that I understood this! In the long run, I guess the jokes on me.i know in their bottom line it doesn't really matter but I will never give this place my business again!

  • Geary J.

Genghis started out as a 5+ star dining experience, sadly it's slipped to a 1 star (and only because a half star is not offered). What used to be a well staffed, clean, and friendly place to get a hot meal is now a poorly staffed, dirty, place with rude staff. The bowl size is about half of what it started out as and as others have stated the buffet price is gone. The selection is not kept stocked, and the meat sits there to the point of total defrost. It's no longer worth the cost to eat so poorly and risk sickness from spoiled meats.

  • Amanda M.

It's a cool place, the only thing I have problems with is knowing what tastes good with what. But they have little cards that they know are good combos. If you know how to really pack the food down you definitely can have a large meal, and the steak is quite tasty!

  • Amy K.

This is a standard Genghis Grill. I didn't really have any complaints nor compliments, except the parking is kind of a pain in the behind. I feel like they had more ingredient options, but I may be imagining that.

    (3)
  • Lih-Wern W.

I would say 2 to 3 stars based on how good you are at choosing your ingredients but generally a 3? They give you a bowl and you pick all your raw ingredients that will fit in the bowl. They take your bowl and cook it for you. If you try to get your money's worth in meat, you'll end up getting a food coma which you probably would have ate somewhere else for the same effect. If you balance it out, you'll start to think about how much more meat you could have had if you didn't get those vegetables. Good enough for me to come back if convenient.

A different and fun dinning experience. Food was great and if it wasn't you can't blame anyone but yourself.. Lol (since you pick the ingrediance and the seasoning)

So I've never been to place like Genghis Grill before and wanted to try it out since the husband said that places like these are pretty good. My family decided to take me out to dinner for my birthday and gave me the choice to choose where I would like to eat at, so I chose Genghis Grill. All in all, I believe that the place is a decent place. Parking could be better and seating could be a little more comfortable. I'm a short person and the seats the had us sit at was a bit uncomfortable. I had to have my husband constantly push me in like a child and help me up and down off the chair. As for the food, it was delightful! I had so many choices that I kind of just started topping the meats and veggies and what not that I normally would fry together and it was great! There was some new sauces and what not that I added on but overall it all turned out great. The food was very light and filling without feeling like I was stuffed. My meal consisted of shrimp, chicken and shaved beef? topped with some salt, curry and some other stuff i don't remember but I only used 3 sauces. I also topped it with some bok choy, tofu, bean sprouts and a mixture of stir fry veggies and my sauces was a peanut sauce and some honey sauce with noodles = Delicious! I would have to say the best thing about this place is its food. As far as the service, our waiter constantly forgot our orders and we had to keep reminding him of what was missing and what was needed. He was really friendly but just had issues remembering what he was suppose to bring, orders were never complete. Would I recommend this place? Maybe Would I return? Maybe Is the food worth its price? Yes Could it be difficult to figure out what goes with what? Yes

Got a recommendation for the restaurant from a professor who said it was not only an interesting concept but really good food. I've only been once, but the experience was very positive. The concept of building your own bowl from a variety of meats, vegetables, spices, and sauces probably ensures everyone in your party will have a meal to please them. The price itself ($8.99 per bowl) didn't strike me as that expensive given the amount of stuff you can cram into your bowl and how good the food turned out. The only real issue I had with the visit was that the tables are packed in as tight as most bowls people create. It's almost impossible to get in and out of a table without bumping the people next to you, which isn't something many people want when they're having lunch. Our waitress (who was a little over ambitious to help first timers and turned it into a kindergarten feeling) also indicted that the lines can get very long during peek times, something we didn't experience on our visit. Genghis Grill is a different concept and probably one that can cause issues if you're not careful with your bowl making, but I'd definitely be back again.

Very VERY delicious!! It's fun as well. They have about 10 different meats you can choose and if you want you can have some of all meats, choose all the veggies you want and al the noodles, rice or tortillas your Herr desires. For $9.99 you get more than enough food. You can pick any pre made sauce or mix and match. It's truely fun and always turns out amazing. A new Tulsa favorite for sure!!

I have to give it a 4star for the food, but if they don't clean up their act(literally) , they will lose some customers. ==== The location is great (downtown) with ample parking in back. We went on a weekday around 1pm. We were seated immediately and our server, Candy, was excellent. She was friendly, informative and quick. If you have not been to a Genghis Grill, they are not your typical Mongolian Grill places. Instead of frozen meats, they offer a large selections of fresh (refrigerated) options and instead of multiple ladles of various liquids, they have numerous sauces from which you can choose, and still customize to your needs. I frequent the one in Tempe, AZ so I guess I was comparing the two. In Tulsa, The floors were dirty and the food area was a mess. Many foods had spilled over into the next containers. The lunch rush was over, so I am not sure why this could not have been taken care of. There were also a group of employees sitting, chatting, and rolling napkins at a table in an awkward corner in the back left of the restaurant. When I walked the restroom, one of the employees came towards me (not enough room for two people to pass this one corner) and I had to stop so she could continue walking and didn't even acknowledge me. The same thing happened on the way back to my table with a male employee. If they insist on working at that table, they can be respectful of the customers and if they don't want to 'give the right of way' at least be polite and not bulldoze their way through. Probably just a customer service/training issue. Anyway, the food was excellent and the price was right. I would go there again on my next visit and give it another try because it really is delicious food.

Whether or not you enjoy eating at Genghis Grill depends on three main factors: 1) Do you know what you like? 2) Can you follow simple instructions? And 3) Do you enjoy trying something a little "different" now and again? If so, this place is for you! You don't need to be a gourmand to put together an awesome bowl (although if you are, you can feel free to create!), just decide which option sounds good to you, pick up a little instruction card at the beginning of the line, and follow the instructions: meats, seasonings, veggies, sauce, starch. Give your filled bowl to the grill master, and in a master of just a couple of minutes? You're eating a GREAT meal. For the truly adventurous? Pick up a pair of chopsticks at the end of the line (but keep your fork handy, just in case)!

Let me start this review by saying that the Genghis Grill in Ellisville MO was my absolute favorite restaurant for years. I visited it twice a month for years. I brought all my friends and family by multiple times. I even drove the 45 minute drive to eat there by myself. It was amazing. So when I found out that Tulsa had one I was ecstatic. My family and I came from St. Louis to Fort Sill OK for my brothers Army basic training graduation, and on the way we stopped in Tulsa for Genghis Grill. It has been about 3 years since I've had it, and I was drooling. We were greeted when we walked in and say right away. They were accommodating for a group of 9. Our waitress seemed uninterested to be there from the get go. We knew what we were doing so we got started right away. Proteins were fresh and stocked, as were veggies and sauces. The bowl was cooked very quick and perfectly. A manager brought us our bowls and she was friendly. I finished quickly and asked for a second bowl. WELLLL apparently they do not offer unlimited bowls for $12 anymore. I wasn't told that. Instead I found out when the bill arrived that each bowl costs $8.99. Oooooops. Not their fault. But would of been nice to be warned when I asked for a second bowl. Also, our "unfriendly" waitress left half way through our dining and we were given a replacement waiter. Not a great feeling. Overall the food was good, the staff was so-so, and the prices were too much. How could a first timer try anything and do trial and error of every bowl costs 8.99 for lunch or 10.50 for dinner?? Glad I got to eat it again, but wouldn't visit this location again.
