My wife and I went here for our wedding anniversary, and I'm so glad we did. Everything was amazing, and we felt like high rollers in Vegas ;) The service was impeccable. I believe our server's name was Robert. He was extremely knowledgable about all the fish on the menu, and he was very attentive. We started with the creamy, decadent shrimp and lobster bisque. For the entree I went in for one of their fresh fishes, the Kingclip, and I'm glad I did. The fish was cooked perfectly, and it does not get any fresher than this. I was able to substitute carrots for asparagus. For dessert they comped us a s'mores deconstructed dessert that blew my mind! I have to be honest...my favorite desserts are in Vegas. I don't find many local desserts that make me excited, but this particular offering had me making all kinds of "mmmmmm" and "ahhhhh" sounds! The chef also surprised us with Werther's Original infused cotton candy that was so familiar, yet so different and tasty. When we thought we were all said and done...a member of the staff came by and gave us a complimentary coffee cake to go to thank us for our business. I can't remember the last time I've been at a restaurant that made us feel this special and appreciated. Go here for your next special occasion! You will be happy you did.

We ate there recently for our anniversary dinner. The food and service were absolutely the best of any restaurant in Tulsa. The king crab legs (deshelled for us gratis) were astoundingly fresh and huge, and the scallops were amazing. Sides were perfectly balanced with the entrees and the whole evening was amazing. A special free dessert was brought out to celebrate our anniversary as well.

There were some bad reviews of Bodean's back in May of this year when apparently they were changing kitchen staff or something. Well, apparently that's behind them and the 4+ star Bodean Seafood Restaurant is back. We were greeted by the maitre d' and two assistants immediately upon entering the restaurant. We had 6:30 reservations and when we got there the dining room was maybe half full. By 7 or 7:30 it was completely full. Our server was prompt, professional, and very knowledgeable about the menu and the food they were serving. My wife ordered a half dozen oysters on the half shell, and she ordered a sampler, so there were 6 different types of oysters. While the young man who brought them out from the kitchen had explained what they were, by the time my wife was done eating them, we'd forgotten what they were again so we asked are server. She flipped all the oyster shells over and explained what they were. She could tell based on shape and markings on the shells. She knows her oysters! I ordered the grilled red snapper and my wife ordered the pan-seared scallops. The scallops were perfectly cooked, fresh, and sweet. The snapper was very moist and it was a good size portion. The only thing lacking was the dessert. We ordered a homemade peach ice cream with a walnut cookie topping. I think the ice cream could have used more cream. All our courses; appetizers, entree, and dessert, were prompt. A nice touch (not sure if this is standard or just a special) was that they were sending everybody home with a Bodean's coffee cake. I had it for breakfast this morning, it was excellent.

My boyfriend and I had been wanting to check this place out for some time, and we finally made it happen for his birthday dinner last weekend. The location in a strip mall looks questionable, but the inside is beautiful! We were seated in a perfect booth where we got to sit next to each other and could see the rest of the dining room. Our waitress was great and very helpful with suggestions on wine and entrees. Service struck a nice balance so we didn't feel abandoned or forgotten but it also wasn't too intrusive. We had the tuna tartare appetizer (with avocado and crispy wontons, it was amazing), then he got the seared tuna (the soy reduction and wasabi cream sauce were soooo good) and I got the Alaskan halibut (fish was delicious and cooked perfectly, as was the basil risotto, mmmm). All the food was amazing, and portions were very generous for a nice restaurant. Even the bread and salted butter was extra delicious. We were stuffed, but couldn't pass up the free birthday dessert. We picked the pretzel ice cream pie, which was unique and really good. Oh, and they give you a coffee cake to take home at the end, which was a sweet touch. Overall a great experience and well worth the money!

My best restaurant in Tulsa! I love that the food is wild caught and they fly in their seafood twice a day so they can serve fresh food. My friend had the San Francisco ciappono but I wouldn't say it was all that, you can mostly taste tomato paste in it. I got the halibut. It was the most delicious and most tender halibut I've tasted yet. The ambience is awesome! Very romantic. Service is high class. Very clean. Can't wait to go back.

Really solid lunch. In the area and stopped in for a quick bite. Butternut squash soup was very tasty. More broth based with I think a chili oil on top, which made it less of a belt buster. Had the shrimp and grits. It is the best in town. Different in a good way. Lunch so no wine. Will come back for dinner soon. Really like what they are doing here.

As every other time I have been here the food is really exceptional. The only reason I am posting is because of the recent service. I was in there this week with about 20 people from my organization around the world, and wanted to show off a little of Tulsa. Compliments all around the table as to the food, and I want to make sure that everyone understands the quality of the food here, amazing!. The only thing I can think of from a service perspective is that our waiter drew the short straw to serve us and he wasn't very happy about it. It was not busy in there the night we went, so I am sure from a tip perspective our table would have been desirable. Our head waiter was very indifferent about how well he treated us, and this is a first for me at Bodeans. Maybe an off night? Vin.. (Insert name here) needs to understand the expectations of customer service we customers have of a great restaurant like Bodeans.

I'm tempted to give this place 5 stars because it's damn fresh seafood in the landlocked middle country. Hard to come by! However, since my fellow diners all finished their plates (a good sign), and I couldn't taste more than the fish stew, I will have to settle for 4 stars. The seafood was very good here, and I thought the prices were very competitive for fresh, flown in seafood. I was recently at a similar place in Pittsburgh and their dishes were at least $10-15 more than Bodean's, yet the fish was of similar quality. The atmosphere was way better here too, so it was great to see a Tulsa restaurant outshine a bigger city place. I had the Cioppino which I was thrilled to see on the menu. My only comparison for Cioppino was at a fancy place on Fisherman's Wharf in SanFran known for their Cioppino. Bodean's Cioppino was not as good as that, of course, but it was very good. I wish the broth were thicker, but it definitely scratched the itch for that warm seafood stew. Mmm! Our waitress was kind of amiss. She checked on us sporadically and seemed a little off her game. I would expect better at a place like this. Other wait staff were very good and attentive. The atmosphere was very modern, and I loved the light fixtures and fire place.

Bodeans has been one of our favorite restaurants over the years, and we live nearby which makes it even better. Recently we have been very disappointed with the quality and quantity of food, unfortunately I think the change of management or executive chef has caused a reduction in value and or experience. We have managed to have dinner at Bodeans twice this week, and both were disappointing experiences. for the price, the oysters were ridiculously small, the calamari was cold and tasteless etc., very disappointing for us having enjoyed it for so many years. We will be very hesitant to go back again soon, sorry.

I love the new location of Bodean's. I grew up in Tulsa and came here basically every Sunday night that my Grandma didn't feel like cooking. The old location was older, semi run down, and smelled like old people and moth balls. Talk about a change for the better! The new location is sleek, sexy, dark, and had live music when I was there last Sunday. The waitress was super knowledgeable and after whining to her that my duck wasn't hot, she told me that duck is served more like room temperature as it has to cool for quite some time before the chef is able to cut into it. Not sure why I decided on the seared Long Island duck since Bodean's is famous for seafood, but it was really, really tasty. I especially loved the bed of bing cherry risotto it came served on - with wilted spinach and a veal demi glaze. Creamy, yummy, deliciousness! Mmm mmm good. Mamacita ordered the Pecan-wood grilled Rainbow trout Amandine. The trout itself was a bit dry, but the asparagus it came served with was seasoned perfecto. Dad decided on the "San Francisco" style Cioppino, which was awesome. I'm kind of sad I didn't order that. It was a tomato broth with lots of fresh, good seafood. My grandmother had the oyster appetizer, which looked amazing. They came served four ways - Casino, Rockefeller, Pepperado, and Irish Style. I didn't try any, but they looked great and she thoroughly enjoyed them. Great new location, great service, and great seafood for Oklahoma :) This would definitely be a good date spot!

Superior food, superior service! I could quibble about a few details, but overall hubby and I had an excellent experience at Bodean's. We're not wealthy by any means, but every once in a while we enjoy a high-end meal at a nice restaurant. This one was worth every penny (and every calorie). Let's start with cocktails. My husband enjoyed his classic Sazerac; initially intrigued by the description of the Jalisco Flower, I tried it. It wasn't to my taste, but the waitress cheerfully added more St. Germaine at my request. The bread and butter were perfect. A small detail, I know, but that's where quality shows. Delicious crusty warm sourdough served with European-style butter. Mmm. Hubby opted for a half- dozen raw oyster sampler and was not disappointed. My plate of oysters four ways (Rockefeller, Irish, Pepperado, and Casion) were delicious on their second apperance --- I sent the first plate back as it wasn't hot enough, and it was delivered quickly and without complaint. I might argue that cream cheese is NOT in fact an element of the traditional Oysters Rockefeller recipe, and there was a big glop of cream cheese on mine which rendered this my least favorite Rockefeller recipe; and the "Irish" style with a glob of bland mashed potatoes was also uninspiring; but the Pepperado and Casino were fantastic. Throughout the meal, the waitstaff was excellent at describing dished and ingredients. If one of them didn't know something, they immediately fetched someone who did. We split a nice Caesar salad. Hubby opted for the Pan Seared Jumbo Sea Scallops with Basmati Rice, Apple Chutney, Radish Sprouts & Red Curry Coconut Sauce --- perfectly cooked with a nice crust, and delicious. I had the arctic char, which was grilled and served with asparagus, garlic mashers, and a creamy dill sauce on the side. The char was perfectly grilled and buttery; it melted in my mouth. The asparagus was also perfectly cooked and the sauce a perfect accompaniment. I loved that they served it on the side without being asked. The garlic mashers were bland --- I would have preferred a nice risotto --- but my husband liked them. The sommelier recommended a great bottle of wine for us to share --- the Trimbach Riesling, from Alsace -- crisp yet fruity, and perfect for rich foods. It also went wonderfully with our desserts --- the chocolate mousse dome which was as beautiful as it was delicious, and my husband's cheese plate, which was served with truffled honey, spiced apples, toasted candied walnuts, and a fig cake. Here's another quibble: the cheese were good, but there wasn't a single offering you couldn't buy at Whole Foods. It's not the first fine dining restaurant where I've been disappointed in the cheese selections. Humboldt Fog, Cabot cheddar, St. Andre, gouda, manchego --- all great cheeses, but also all very easy to find in any well-stocked grocery store. I'd appreciate a more sophisticated menu. But, as I said, these are quibbles. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening, and will remember the meal for some time to come. Bravo, Bodean's However, as I said, these are

Great selection of Oysters. Fresher than fresh fish. Succulent scallops. Excellent wine selection. Attentive but non-intrusive service. Overall a great dining experience! An unexpected pleasure in Tulsa. $$$

Let me just say, "YUMMY!" Took a trip to Tulsa for the weekend and this was a highlight of our journey. Had the Tuna Tarte and it was heaven! For the main course I had the herb crusted sea bass and it melted in my mouth. Dessert was evil but fabulous...peanut butter torte! I highly-highly recommend it! Service was amazing, very attentive but not to hovering. This was our second pick. We originally tried to reserve a table at the Celebrity, but they were booked. Bodean's was just down the road from our hotel and we loved it!

Disappointing dry food, lack of seasoning Hoping for tasty, fresh seafood, disappointed with both dishes we ordered. Halibut was dry and tasteless, tuna was bland and not properly seasoned. Service was great and atmosphere was comfortable and quiet. Too bad the food didn't live up to expectations.

Lacking on many levels. Our party of 7 arrived at 7:00. Our entrees were not placed in front of us until 9:00. Three appetizers ordered only 2 arrived. There were ONLY 3 other tables occupied when we arrived. One table occupied at 8:00. Our server seemed to be trying but something going horribly wrong in kitchen to cause this delay. The soups all had to be sent back because they were cold. When we arrived there was no one to greet us for about 5 mins. No one overseeing this place and monitoring and managing it. We had heard through the grapevine that this place was slipping and now we have seen it first hand. How do they function if the restaurant is half full? The cost and this kind of service will not see any of us. going back. After being seated and no one came for our drink orders we asked a waiter going by about getting someone to take our orders. His response was...oh, yes we were just talking about that and who is going to be your waiter. Really? In the meantime they just let us sit there with no service from any if them.

Food here is not bad. The seafood is legit. Fresh and tasty. Service is good. I took my lady, now not my lady, here for her birthday dinner. She loves seafood and I figured this is great place to take her. We really enjoyed our meals. I had the halibut and she had the lobster tail. The halibut was delish, but the lobster tail was my favorite. The lobster tail was so juicy and had full of flavor. If you're one of those people that needs space when you're eating dinner, this place might be a problem. If you're sitting at the booth, you'll be ok, but if you're sitting at one of the tables on the floor....space might be an issue. We were a good one or two feet from the tables around us. It's not hard to eavesdrop on other peoples convo. It's a fine diner, but it was missing that intimacy feel. Bodeans is good, but I wouldn't say it's great.

I can't afford to eat here very often, maybe twice or three times a year, but I when I do, it's always a treat. Everything from the appetizers to the desserts are really super. I have really loved the trout amandine and the champagne salmon. I don't eat Escargot, but my son does and he says they're very good here. I've had the same waiter the last few times and he is knowledgable and friendly and doesn't seem snooty at all when I ask questions or order something less expensive. The restaurant itself is in a strip mall that doesn't look that promising, but inside it's very nice, so don't let the location put you off. It's definitely worth a try if you have the money to go.

A great find in Tulsa. Don't let the outside fool you. This place is really great inside. We generally sit in the bars of the places we eat. The bar here is pretty cool. The food was good. This was our first time here. We had the lobster medallions which were just OK, a house salad with some really good blue cheese dressing, the halibut served with a delicious gazpacho (be ready to be surprised!) and the key lime cheesecake that was good but not great. They fly in fish twice a day and have several to choose from. The service was good at the bar as well. Ryan did a great job. We will definitely come back next time we are in town.

  • Nicole S.

The service was nice and my food was really good. However, they burnt my sister's fish and my brother's food was way too salty. We can in at a slow period so they didn't have many other orders to worry about. It was really quite and the atmosphere was okay but not the best. For the price, I probably won't be back.

This is one of the best high-end restaurants in Tulsa. We ate there on Valentine's Day and had a great time. The highlight of the evening was the foie gras appetizer, which was $17--pretty expensive for an appetizer, but my wife had seen it on TV and wanted it, so we got it. It was rich and creamy and one of the best single dishes I've ever tasted. I've never had anything like it. We got bisque (partly at another Yelp reviewer's suggestion) and it too was really good. So thick and creamy it was almost TOO thick and creamy. :-) Then we got the sea bass and the mahi mahi, both of which were very good but not amazing. They had steak and chicken and such on the menu as well, but if the name of the place has "Seafood Restaurant" in it, you're probably better off sticking to the fish. Who knows, maybe their chicken rocks. Overall the atmosphere was terrific and the service was impeccable. Highly recommended for a birthday, anniversary or other special occasion.

Very nice atmosphere, different from the last location. Now that they changed locations it is very sleek inside. They also have the best lobster bisque i have had in Tulsa! i've yet to have a full course meal but i'm sure its great.

Fresh fish in Tulsa?!?!? I know I know. I didn't think so either but they have the seafood flown in and the chef takes great pains to create creative dishes that are also filling. God bless the Midwest. You're not gonna find any "value" here but if you have a company card and a craving for seafood dig in and get a bottle of wine (VERY knowledgeable wait staff) while you're at it!!

My husband and I were visiting Tulsa and went here based on the reviews. The food was fantastic. Our waiter, Joshua, was very informative and very attentive. The maitre d also came to our table to help with the wine selection. We were very impressed with this restaurant. As good or better than places we've been to in NY. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Oh my gosh has this restaurant changed. We went on Mother's Day expecting the usual Sunday night Chef's tasting and it was not cool. They increased the price, lowered the quality of the food and removed the half glass of wine that usually accompanies the Sunday and Monday night Chef tasting menu. Since I had my mom with us we didn't leave, but we should have. First course was a crab cake that had so little crab you could find it easily among the breading, ate very little. The second course was a lobster tail flat on top of white asparagus and a brown gravy-tasting sauce. The white asparagus that accompanied it was good, but the lobster was ruined by the gravy presentation IMO. Third course was a coffee cup full of dry bread pudding with a very nice sauce over it. The dessert could have been okay if the bread pudding wasn't so dry. Bodean's has just changed their chef and it's not the same!

This is one of my favorite restaurants. The Trout Almandine is absolutely wonderful!! If you are a chocolate lover, you have to try the chocolate dome, it is to die for!! Very nice inside, we have taken a 3 year old multiple times and they are wonderful to children!

You really don't think Tulsa when you think fresh seafood but Bodean certainly does it well. They fly it in twice a day and mine was certainly excellent. We started off with the calamari and the yellowfin tartare. The calamari was good but the yellowfin was fantastic. It is served with avocado and a wasabi sauce/teriyaki( I think) sauce. I you are down with raw fish this is a must have. For my entree I went with the halibut with fingerling potatoes. The fish was tender and well seasoned. The decor is excellent and the service was above average. If you are looking for seafood in Tulsa, this is your place.

My husband and I ate here for Valentines, the food is pretty good, I had the mahi mahi, which was "ok" my husband had the seared ahi which was tasty, love the flavors. Entrees range in price from 30-50 a plate.. I will return :) great environment , new location is clean, staff is friendly

On the outside it's a strip mall, but on the inside it's like a SoHo eatery. If you haven't been to Bodean's in a while, you owe it to yourself to experience their new, updated look and location. Once located just across the street, the old location was a dark 19070's era attempt at an old fish house. The new look is trendy and light and the food is as good as ever.

  • Mario E.

I give it a solid three stars. I had the wine pairing special Sunday and kit was ok. The stuffed veal tasted like it had been premed several hours ago. The sauce was not very flavorful. That said, overall it was a good experience. My friend had the cioppino and that looked really good. The wine pairings worked well with the food. I will go back just will try one of the other things on the menu. Last but not least, this place is a bit pricey.

The service at Bodean's is impeccable. Shelley, our server, was just excellent. She was just on the ball the whole evening. We started off with the fried calamari. I want to think it was seasoned well, however it became very soggy do to the fact that they serve it on a bed of salad drenched with a spicy mayo sauce. The gulf oysters were excellent. Cold, clean, and fresh, ahh so fresh! There were a few sluggers that were pretty small, but I overlooked that because the flavors truly came through. The crab cakes also were a bit on the mushy/soggy side as well. Typically crab cakes will have a nice crisp outside, but these did not. Next, we had the fried shrimp, which indeed, had a great bite and crunch to them. My only dispute with this dish was is that it was $18 for 6-7 pieces of shrimp. Ouch! That's pricey for an appetizer. Lastly, the Oyster Rockefeller...I should've known by the thick layer of white cream dollop on top of the oyster that it was going to be a ho-hum experience. The sauce was very heavy and did not balance well with the oyster. The overall dish became unpleasant. In summary, would I return to Bodean's? Probably not for dinner, but for a cocktail and some oysters, sure! The price you are paying doesn't follow through with quality you would expect. At least not according to my standards.

I'll hand it to Bodean's: their display of food is not bad at all, and the place is snazzy. However, I used to go their all the time, and this was not what I was expecting or remembered. When I went I ordered something delicious looking (and super overpriced). The display of the food (salmon, asparagus and rice with mint chutney) was BEAUTIFUL, but it tasted horrible. The same went to everyone I went with. I don't know if it was that night's chef, but the food had no taste and they made my favorite food utterly unlikeable. Their food gets an A plus for display, an F on taste. I've been to ultra high-end restaurants and this was just a wanna-be. None of the food tasted good, even the kid who was sitting near us just kept saying how bad the food was. They're all hoity-toity, and if you don't mind shelling over 40 dollars for a crappy sea food meal for one, then I guess it's all right. I'm never going there again.

OK - I'm not a fish guy, but found myself at Bodean's Seafood Restaurant with a large group. Wow - I'm now revisiting my previous notion as to whether or not I'm a fish guy. Yes, I stayed safe with an excellent fillet (mmnmm, good meat!), but I also ventured out with trying other dishes around me, halibit, swordfish, tuna, .etc. All quite tasty and, from what I'm told, extremely fresh. The service was great and my kids enjoyed sitting near the aquarium. All in all, a most excellent time, looking forward to going back there again.

Wow, yet another disappointment in Tulsa. I really hope they don't fly in the seafood twice daily, because the chef's destroy it. WAY overcooked and lacked flavor. The portions are small and overpriced. Even the sald was lackluster. The shrimp cocktail had been so overcooked it tasted and had the consistancy of rubber. The waitstaff was friendly and tried to be helpful, but the food was just terrible. Spend the extra few dollars and go to Mahogany. We visit Tulsa twice a year and have had ONE good meal.

One of the best restaurants I've ever been to. Staff is very pleasant and knowledgeable. Food is superior. Tulsans should be proud to have this world class restaurant in their town.

Tulsa's original *excellent* place for seafood. It's also the real thing. You get what you pay for, and if you love seafood, it's well worth it here. Oooohhh, my mouth waters as I think about it. Mmmm... 'Talk about! They have a great fresh market as well.

Would have been five star, but the service was a bit slow at the beginning. Otherwise, excellent meal. And I mean excellent. Truly. My swordfish was remarkable. I was very impressed. My wife's halibut crust was a tad salty, for her. For my taste it was fine. Sides were well prepared, oyster shucks were delicious, and the free coffee cake to go was just an awesome touch. Only critique food-wise I'd give were the starting salads. My caesar was a bit disappointing (especially after the waiter recommended it over the bisque), and my wife's salad was just ok. I'll be back without question. It's classy, you're treated well, and the food it top-notch. Also of note, there is a separate lounge section. I love that. Every upper end restaurant should have one of these.

Okay...So I am THAT guy that goes to a great seafood restaurant and orders a steak. Yup, I don't eat seafood so my review basically is based upon the service and that wonderful piece of beef at an all seafood restaurant. We celebrated a birthday and my dining partners were all seafood lovers. From the look on their faces and the empty plates I can assure you that they had a great meal. The service was fantastic and it is so refreshing when the server gives you gratitude for allowing her to serve you. You really don't get that these days in most restaurants. The server (I think her name was Anne) gets it and by the way she does her job is an asset to the establishment. So, all in all, this place is well worth the price. Give it a whirl!

I got the Dungeness Crab Crakes. They were good. The serrano coulis made it even better, a creamy sauce that goes well with the crab cakes. The waitress said she puts it on everything & I could see why! Instead of the fries, I got the garlic mashed potatoes. Incredible. Went well with the entree. I recommend that over fries any day!

My husband (Dustin E.) did a great job reviewing this restaurant and didn't leave me much left to say lol. I will agree on the amazing, attentive service of the staff - it was great! Attentive without being clingy, which is what I like in a server. Our waiter was very knowledgable about the menu, and answered all of our questions. We asked about the pricing on the fresh fish selection (King Salmon, Walleye, a type of Swordfish, and Caribbean Kingclip) and he gave us full descriptions. I decided on the Walleye (which was described as similar to sea bass) and my husband ordered the Caribbean Kingclip. I like a more firm fish, and my husband likes his fish a little soft. We ended up with perfect selections thanks to our server. The Werther's Originals infused cotton candy was amazing!!!! And it wasn't on the menu, so we almost missed it. Life changing, i'll just say that. I'm drooling thinking about it....yum! Great place for a date, or a casual gathering of friends. We dressed up for our anniversary but I saw several people in jeans. We will definitely be back!

TOO BIG FOR ITS BRITCHES ?? Imagine, if you can... Arriving at Bodeans and asking for a table for 2. And being told " I'm sorry we have no tables available". NOT " I'm sorry there will be a wait". Just got stared at as I asked if she was sure the empty tables throughout the restaurant were unavailable. She again repeated " No, we don't have anything". Blink...blink... WOW. Just...wow. Has this restaurant decided they are so precious they can be rude, or have they simply failed to train their staff in the basics of hospitality ??? This frequent, regular customer will not be back.

Excellent, excellent food. I was visiting on business in Tulsa, and let me tell you: I was NOT excited about the food prospects of this place. Especially a seafood restuarant. It was snowing, and dreary, and I just prayed that it was just moderately palatable. It was more than that. What a great little gem. You wouldn't think much of the place from the outside, to be honest, but as soon as my colleagues were seated (there was no one else in the place due to the weather and the time - it was about 2pm), the great service began. I had the crab soup to start and then the scampy pasta for my entree, and it was so, so good. The seafood was fresh and was very tasty. I'd recommend this place for lunch or dinner, and because of the ambiance, it would be great for a birthday or anniversary dinner maybe or a date.

First impressions. Nice decor. Excellent staff and menu selection. Seafood is fresh and first rate. Had the crab cakes which were well presented and tasty. Halibut was so delicious and risotto made right. Fresh bread and a limited wine selection but very complimentary to the menu. You must try this place. A bit pricey but the money is in the experience and great food. I will return on my next trip to Tulsa. Hats off to great dining experience!

Went back to Bodean's for Valentine's Day after our last awesome meal. I have to say, this time I was disappointed. This experience really showed me just how much a great server matters to a fine dining experience. All of our food was wonderful--fresh, prepared properly, served at appropriate temperatures. But our server practically ruined our meal! It's not that he did anything bad per se, it's that he was so lackluster, inattentive, and disinterested that it made us less excited about our food. For example, he walks up (after taking drink orders) and just plainly asks us what we want to order. Makes no attempt to talk up any dishes, small talk about the occasion--NOTHING. I even had to ask him if there were any specials that night (there were). It was that way for each course of our meal. The whole meal felt kind of like ordering at a Sonic drive-in. Someone mechanically asked what we wanted. We told them. Someone else brought it out. We ate it. In fact, and maybe you had to be there for this to be funny, but after we finished our entrees, he literally walked up to our table, set the dessert menu in the middle of the table, and walked away. We heard the waiter at the table next to us (the same fabulous waiter we had on our first visit) gushing over the creme brulee and introducing each dessert without even showing the menu. Guess what-- that couple ordered dessert. We did not. On Valentine's Day! We also didn't get the complimentary coffeecake that is usually given to-go. Maybe because of Valentine's day? You may think I'm being too harsh on this poor guy who didn't actually do anything wrong, but when you're spending $150+ on a special occasion dinner, you really expect and deserve a well-rounded experience with an engaging, attentive server. This meal really fell flat for me. I wish I could remember the great server's name because I don't think I want to go back unless I get seated in his section. If Bodean's is interested, they can message me and I can find the receipt with the name of the bad server. Also, I think Bodean's could use a little updating with the decor. The fish tank at the front is a cool focal point, but it could use an actual tank backdrop to hide the deterioration. And the furniture at the front entrance is a bit of a hodge podge for such a nice place.

I know this review is a little late, but I wanted to write anyway. This is a great find. I was visiting relatives in Tulsa and Grand Lake for the Christmas and New Year's holidays and found myself alone for lunch one day. I did an internet search and found Bodeans so I went. Food was excellent and the server and all staff made me feel very welcome. Totally enjoyed my lunch. I will be back for sure when in Tulsa.

Bodean's is one of a few Tulsa's high-end seafood establishments, which is a must-dine place for any seafood aficionado. Expect a pricey, yet very satisfying dish prepared out of high-quality ingredients. I've had a pleasure of eating at this establishment for at least five years now and have never left disappointed. The interior of the restaurant offers a contemporary, and dimly-lit intimate dining environment, which makes it perfect for couples on a date night, or even small groups. The service is simply impeccable! Reservations recommended.

We went here for Valentine's and were pretty impressed. You can tell the seafood is fresh and good quality. I know because I am from Texas and my dad is a commercial fisher and crabber. All I ate growing up was seafood that my dad caught. I had a half dozen of the oysters, the foie gras with lingonberry jam and the scallops for my entree. My boyfriend had the seabass. He loved his and it was extremely soft and flaky. My scallops were cooked perfectly but I didn't really understand why there was a broth on the plate with the scallops. The scallops are good without broth. It made it more bland to me. But this could be just my opinion. The foie gras was good but didn't impress me. I don't think lingonberry is a good pairing with the foie gras as it has a somewhat bitter taste. Besides that, the restaurant is a hidden gem within Tulsa and the service was great too.

Absolutely the outside is not much to look at, but when you go in; it really is beautifully decked out. The wait staff was wonderful and attentive. The food was delicious. The only downside is if you are pressed for time, don't go. We were attending a Broadway Show and arrived 2 hours ahead to make sure we had plenty of time to make the show downtown. The staff was great the food was wonderful, but was produced at the Chef's speed which is not quick. If we were not on a schedule it would have been delightful. Just saying. Oh, and did I say it was a bit pricy.

Bodean is not much to look at from the outside. It's in an old strip mall with what looks to be grey-colored paper on the windows, so we weren't quite sure if they were open or not. But we opened the door and we were quite surprised. The place is really chic. The decor makes you feel like you're under the sea and the service is nothing short of incredible. If you've been to Austin, Texas, this place would complement Perla's quite nicely. The ambiance was also enjoyed with the addition of a folk rock singer strumming and singing! Michelle was our server on Sunday night and she was honestly one of the best servers I've ever had, anywhere. She described the food to us in an almost seductive manner that made my taste buds jump. I ordered the nightly tasting special, which started with three chunks of yellowfin tuna, seared to a perfect rare with a spicy hollandaise and honey-drunken bing cherries. Next was a ribeye (grilled to medium rare) and topped with chimichurri and watercress salad. The dessert was a trio of cucumber jalapeño sorbet with walnut sand, blood orange sorbet with chocolate cookie dirt and a mango gelatin. Very fresh! The cucumber jalapeño sorbet was my favorite! So, if you're in Tulsa, don't underestimate Bodean for fresh seafood! They pickup fresh fish not just once, but twice daily from the airport! Bodean's fish market is next to the restaurant and supplies many other fine dining places in Tulsa with their seafood!

Ask to have Jimmy wait on you ++. Valentine dinner subpar, but tonight superb service, halibut with risotto entree outstanding, filet with garlic mashed potato's Service off tonight. Too much fat on prime rib, filet great, mashed potato's warm/cool. Sitting felt like convention center, not good atmosphere for the price

Arrogant. Think they are better than what they really are. If you show up not dressed to the nines, they won't even speak to you. Not talking dirty clothes, clean jeans and golf shirts. We had eaten there before, and it was good but not great.

My favorite restaurant in Tulsa. We are fish and seafood lovers and Bodean never let us down. Last time I had the scallops and I'm sure I will repeat!

There's no reason why a city in the center of the country should have a seafood restaurant this good. But having lived in San Francisco and Hawaii, Bodean's is still one of the top 5 seafood experiences I've ever had. Their non-fish dishes are also extraordinary. Best lobster bisque ever.

Went back recently for their Tasting Menu. Three courses matched with three wines. The wines are 3 oz pours but a nice quality and really went well with the meal. The halibut had a pecan smoke which really brought out the flavor. All three course were well thought out and served in a very nice leisurely way. The fish was cooked perfectly. I believe they do these menus on Sunday and Monday nights.
