I purchase sushi from here regularly because the price is the same as other take out options. I always really enjoy my sushi and miso soup. The lobster roll is one of my favorites and I felt my rainbow roll was even better than sushi house. That said, the environment of this place is severely lacking, and the restroom is filthy. If only it were in a nicer place with a nicer environment the sushi seems like it could compete with other nicer places like Yokozuna. The food is great, and I will probably continue to order in the future especially since I have younger kids I really probably wouldn't feel comfortable taking into an expensive sushi place. My kids love to eat here too.

Asahi is a decent place to go for discount sushi. The 8 rolls we ordered totaled $30, which is significantly less than most other places in town. Their 1/2 price offer on three or more of their standard rolls is probably their best feature. With that in mind, it isn't the quality that you'd find and one of the more upscale sushi places in town. The consistency is not what it used to be, but it's not a bad experience overall. While this is not the place for a "sushi snob" (everyone's a "snob" about something), it's good for someone hankering for budget sushi prices in South Tulsa. I've been doing here off and on since about when they opened several years ago, and have always found the service to be pretty good. I hadn't been in a couple years, but I remembered it can be kind of warm inside once I stepped back in the place. This may have been what contributed to a couple of our rolls being luke warm. I'd recommend this place for the person looking for value sushi on the south side of town. But come find out for yourself, and share with us how it is!

I've been there any times and all were exceptional except the last one. 5 stars none the less because it is DELICIOUS.

I would never post a rating this low unless I had an absolutely terrible experience at a restaurant. While the food was fair at best, the lady / manager went out of her way to be rude to us. She rolled her eyes when we had questions, and rudely slammed our drinks on the table when we ordered (God forbid) water. One of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. Food 2/5 stars. Service 0/5 stars.

This is some of the best sushi in town. Fresh ingredients and great quality for an awesome price. I get a roll to go from here about 3 times a week and they have always had the food ready and I'm out the door in 2 minutes. I recommend this to everyone

I've only been here one but I thought it was awesome. It's tucked away in an unsuspecting corner of the shopping center close to Burlington Coat Factory; and because of this, I really didn't expect much. I was pleasantly surprised. It's appearance is old school and comfortable. It is a small place. I had a great experience wIth the wait staff. My rolls were delicious. I got 1/2 price on some of my rolls, which made it a great deal. Not sure what the hours are for that deal but I'd go back for sure. It's definitely not a chain, but that's what I really like about it. In fact, I'm asking my boyfriend if he will go with me tonight!

First time visit... My wife and I had an early dinner here. I had read a lot of mixed reviews-Urbanspoon collective is a bit more gracious than Yelp users-but we're fans of local family ran restaurants, so we gave it a shot. We started with some miso and seaweed salad, both on par with the likes of Fuji. Next we split two rolls - one basic salmon roll and one specialty roll. Overall roll quality was good. The portioning of fish and roll filling was great, however one roll the fish seemed a little less than standard sushi quality. Not spoiled but certainly not what I prefer in quality. Service was very courteous and responsive. I believe it's a husband and wife duo. The lady seemed very sweet. Overall, my general conscious is... Good value sushi but certainly not exceptional. Worth trying but may not win your regular business...

All the previous reviews are pretty on point. This place has terrible sushi that isn't fresh. The waitstaff was very nice, but too slow. The restaurant is dirty and unkept. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone unfortunately.

I love this place. I'm not sure why it has so many bad reviews. It's so quiet and quaint. The rolls are so delicious, I haven't tried on that I didn't like. I've been going here for about 3 years and I haven't found any other sushi place that I like better for the quality and price. The service can be a little slow at times, but I enjoy the other aspects enough to keep going back. I would recommend to anyone.

This place was really good when it first opened but over the last couple of years it has turned to the worst sushi bar in Tulsa. The staff is about as rude as it gets and the quality of food seems to get worse with each passing visit. I'm afraid this last time was the LAST TIME.

Years ago when I lived in Tulsa, I came here ALL the time. I loved this plaza/strip mall. It has Mekong River Restaurant for Vietnamese, India Restaurant, and Asahi. Great selection!! Yum! The sushi was cheaper than In the Raw and the owners were sooooo nice. I haven't been in years, but I hope they are doing awesome!

I don't see what people are saying about Asahi going downhill. I visited recently for the first time in a year or two and was pleasantly surprised to find just the same quality food as before. First off, Asahi is cheap sushi, there's no doubt about it. But, for cheap sushi it is very good. If you are used to San Francisco bay area standards you might be slightly disappointed, but for the price you're paying, the quality of food is excellent. There have also been many times when the staff has come out with a separate dish of sushi on the house. The family who owns this place is very nice and the service is excellent, although when they are busy they can be very slow to respond. They have a wide selection of sushi that is very very tasty. My favorite sushi is unagi (eel) and yellowfin, but I absolutely abhor Philadelphia and California rolls. They also have a large menu of cooked food if you're not into sushi. I recommend the miso or the tempura. A favorite of my friends is the teriyaki chicken. Also, Asahi is not wholly traditional Japanese, it is what americans have mostly appropriated into Japanese food (I don't think going to find any Okonomiyaki or gyutan here). But I believe it's the closest thing to traditional you'll find in Tulsa. Overall I find their food to be really good, and it doesn't leave too much of a dent in the wallet. If you want sushi, you must go here.

Went twice with the wife in the last month. Quiet little hole in the wall place. Fresh fish, tight rolls, good seaweed salad. Not sure what all the reviews about cleanliness are about, it's been clean and tidy both times we've gone. And I appreciate that they keep low sodium soy sauce at every table. Orders come in a timely fashion without the wait staff bugging you, we going out for two hours and no one seemed to mind.

Brack!!!!! This place was DIRTY! I used to be a roughneck and have eaten in some nasty places, but I loaded up the family and left after placing drink orders and looking around.

Getting to this place was an experience, it's tucked in a little strip mall.. that kinda looks questionable for a stranger.. i really wondered where I was going! Anyway, the inside was like any standard little sushi place, plastic flowers and all.. I was seated at the sushi bar, staring at very "unsmiling" sushi chefs... The food was average at best... really don't care to come back.

I used to love Asahi, but I either was not ordering a robust enough selection, or they have gone severely downhill over the last two years. The sushi that my boyfriend and I got last night was not only very bland, it was completely poorly constructed. The spicy yellowtail roll was nearly unraveling as we pulled pieces of it, and the fish was gloppy and sticking out the top on this and our tuna roll. It was reminiscent of canned tuna, which is not something I want to associate with what should be (for Oklahoma, relatively) fresh fish. Our service was okay, but nothing to rave about. One star for being open when Wasabi was not, and one star because the seaweed salad was good, and the cooked food may be all right (I've never tried it.)

The food is not a total fail; however, the service and management were the worst I've ever experienced. I went there for a friend's bday and we were excited to try this place out. Our server knew nothing about the menu... she did not know what certain sushi contained and tried to make me look stupid when she told me tamago does not mean egg. wth?! and then she told one of my friends the restaurant got a truck load of delivery from the morning and told her they got everything. She did not even know that they had sweet potato in the tempura order... later she said they ran out... and the kitchen was busy so they say my friend's order to another table. ???????!!!!!!! OMG, i can sit here and write a 5page paper on this horrible experience. So my entre came out before my appetizer... waited about 15min after my entre came out for my appetizer... then waited another 30min to find out the ran out of sweet potato tempura.. then they gave me some Walmart rainbow ice cream and claim it was my order of sorbet... and another 30 for our checks... wth! so i complained to the manager or wth he was... and he gave our table a 15%disc... yes, 15%!!!! then we had to wait for another 15 to get the adjusted checks and they only gave one ticket the discount and the server argued that she gave us all the disc.... clearly... it could not have been any crazier than this. lesson of the day??? never coming back!

Probably the worst Japanese food in Tulsa. The menu doesn't specify imitation or real crab...and it's all imitation. Even in things where it won't taste good, like tempura. There is really nothing as gross as tempura fake crab. All of the rolls I got had the texture of sushi made the day before and left in the fridge over night. It all tasted the same, there wasn't any kind of flavor distinction, like they all sat in the fridge together for so long there was no taste. The teriyaki chicken was greasy, cold, and really low-quality cuts of chicken with lots of fat and gristle. Seriously the biggest waste of money in my entire trip to Tulsa.

Asahi used to be a great little place no one knew about with pretty good sushi at really good prices. I used to root for them to succeed because of their value. But I think they are under new management now or something, because over the last six months or so it has really slipped in quality. The sushi rolls are messy and uneven; the raw fish (for the few Tulsans who order it) is not very fresh; even the tempura is greasy and bland. The takitori is unevenly cooked (tasted microwaved) and doused in buckets of brown sauce. I've been there 20 times but I won't be going back.

This is the first time I've ever had sushi in Oklahoma, and that's part of the reason I wanted to try it. Overall, it's not bad. The menu is far more limited than what I normally see, but that's acceptable. Also, the menu offered a couple of Korean dishes, which was interesting, but understandable since the owners are Korean. However, I can't say that I've seen Korean dishes on menus at home when the owners are Korean. Service is definitely good, and when we walked in on a Tuesday night, I was pleased to see how crowded it was, considering this is out of the way in the corner of a strip mall with a LARGE parking lot and the place is behind Burlington Coat Factory. They offer a deal that charges you half price on select items if you order at least three items per person. Not bad, since it't not a happy hour deal, so it's good all night. My bf, who's far more of a sushi connoisseur than me, said one of the rolls was a little different than he likes, and I can't remember which one it is. He didn't like that they put teriyaki sauce on it, though. I thought the rice could be fresher, but it was acceptable to me.
