Wow, Shawnee's hidden treasure! Finally found a great place for steak! No reservations, but seated quickly, in what others say is like a "cafeteria", though close, definitely not uncomfortably close. The dinner rolls were tasty! Melt in your mouth prime rib , perfectly prepared filet mignon, fresh not frozen grilled shrimp, and even a decent kids menu! Our server, David, was polite, not pushy, but definitely attentive, and even as the restaurant got packed, we weren't forgotten. Have seen restaurants charge $30-$40 for the steaks we got. Perfect!

There are times in life when a meal is so expertly crafted and planned that it is short of genius. And no I'm not talking about this dark dungeon of mismanaged and directionless wait staff. This is quite possibly the one that would kick Gordon Ramsey in the pebble pouch. As I entered the dreary dinning area I was approached by a 1980s style host with a rubber apron / sous jacket? IDK. But anyway. The slight odor of dust and old rug upon entering bring back memories of my drunk uncles one room shack in down town Meeker. I bravely chose to stay and give it a chance despite the funeral sign in book style menu"as I posted in the picture for example purposes only". The sticky shellac table top was quickly wiped clean and left with a damp sheen to deter my arm hair from being pulled out. I quickly decided to order the daily special! My thoughts were if I ordered something with high turnover it would have to be the most fresh. As I nervously waited, my sphincter quivered at the thought of passing a hot fast and furious load within moments of ingestion. I hastily ordered the rice wine sake with hopes of coating my intestines with a disinfecting type of liquid. To my surprise the daily special was about the same as my previous review of the sunny side up. So for the sake of being brief it's another typical flavorless life sustaining substance probably comparable to stale rice cakes. Tip: Take all your friends out for a suspenseful dinner that will end as Boring as the buildings facade.

Still the best steak in Shawnee. Come and try the K.C strip, it is prepared to your liking . The baked sweet potato is amazing. So drive to Shawnee and give Paul's Place a try. You will not be disappointed !!!!!!

This place is awesome! I love themed restaurants! There are plenty of places that over do the 50s but this steakhouse is like willfully getting into a time machine and going back to 1987! It was like I was a kid again. The food was great, I don't like steak too raw and I'm glad the chef thought about my safety and made sure it was pleasantly torched. After my meal was over I received a dinner roll, but I was too full from my delicious steak to eat it. Everyone should visit this place. Step back in time with Paul's Place!

Amazing. Perfection! Spinach artichoke dip was the most delicious I have had. Caesar salad was so fresh and crisp with genuine Parmesan. Even the croutons were yum. The broccoli was green and crispy perfect and the steak, well, I had the 6oz filet and it was literally to die for. Perfectly done as I ordered it. The waitress, Dawn, made sure it was cooked as I liked before leaving table. Such great service and food. A real find!

Little overpriced, the food didn't match the price you pay. The steak was tender just didn't have a lot of flavor. We sat at the bar as others stated about a cafeteria type atmosphere on the other side.

Paul's Place is a good restaurant and a great place to go for lunch. The lunch menu always features a number of specials under $7 that are very tasty and offer a filling but not massive portions. I have particularly enjoyed the catfish with homemade tartar sauce and hush puppies, the grilled chicken salad, and the teriyaki salmon. I know Paul's Place is a steakhouse, but I really like their other menu items, though the steaks are good and are pretty reasonably priced. The hamburger is another nice option. The cobblers for dessert have been uniformly delicious. They are a little different from your normal cobbler because they feature more of a biscuit topping than a traditional pie crust or crumble. If you can, sit in the bar area or at the bar. The service there is friendly and the space is more open. Sitting in the main room can be hit-or-miss with the service and the room feels a bit stuffy. Paul's Place is fantastic lunchtime value where you're going to have a good meal.

If you don't make dinner reservations for a booth in the small bar area, then you'll be relegated to the large room that resembles a cafeteria, which has zero atmosphere. Another option is sitting AT the bar, which is less preferable than a booth but still way better than the cafeteria side. The steaks are fine (yeah, just fine) but a little overpriced for the experience they offer. Baby back ribs are very flavorful, and their own barbecue sauce gives them a rich, sweet tang. Margie, a bartender, can make you a quasi-diet sangria with diet Sprite that's yummy and refreshing.

We had not been to Paul's in the last three years and wondered if it had changed in that period of time. It has! It has gone from "Very Good" to "Outstanding." We were seated promptly and the service was fantastic and friendly. Our waiter was great and took care to explain fully the answer to any of our questions. The three of us had Prime Rib, N.Y. Strip and Salmon. All food was prepared in an outstanding manner and was delicious. For those who care, Paul's has a full bar. We plan to be back soon and often.

Great place to go for lunch or dinner. Food is great, along with great service. The owners make sure that your experience is always a good one. I eat there more for lunch than dinner, but both menu's provide a great selection. When we have guests in from out of town, it's always a safe bet that they will enjoy their meal. It's also a treat because it isn't the same old "chain" restaurant food. Love it.

Not impressed, went out with coworkers and the meal was not great. the service however is the best. Had the steak which was overdone and char-ed and my veggie was mushy.

This was my first visit and I must say "I am impressed!" I was greeted promptly when I walked in and seated immediately. This is a family-owned restaurant and the staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. I was seated in Margie's section and she is wonderful. The fried mushrooms are excellent, the steak and baked potato were perfectly prepared and the dinner roll was warm, soft and delicious. I am a fan after one visit.

I am in Shawnee for the week on business. Paul's Place was recommended by an associate, and my experience there was so good that I just decided to go there every night for dinner. Perfect place for a business traveler. The service is very attentive, but never in your face, and never rushed. The big booths accommodate a laptop if you are working after hours. The food is very good, and tastes like GREAT home cooking. I had the meatloaf and the ribs. Both excellent, but the ribs were especially good. The half order was massive, so bring your appetite if you go for the full order. Five stars for Margie, who runs the bar area with great finesse.
