EDIT// Well I'm sorry to disappoint the owner after thanking me for my 5 star review 4 years ago, but this place has become one of the worst on Campus Corner. I won't eat the food here anymore; prices on everything have gone up and quality has gone way down. Sorry to take so long to correct this review, but what started out strong quickly withered the moment the old O'Connell's closed. Sad day in Norman. The Mont is about all that's left.// This new O'connell's on campus corner may be my favorite bar in Norman. It's great to come with a few friends, have a $3 burger on Wednesdays, and through back some $1 pints. After happy hour they have about the best priced pitchers on campus corner, $5.50. It's quite enough to hang out with some friends, but lively enough to have some fun. There is also shuffleboard and air hockey available to play if you get bored.

Great service and the beer was the coldest in town.

I actually ate there in very late May 2011 for supper with a group of friends. In the Campus Corner district, it offers all the standard pub fare, well prepared and reasonably priced. The service that we received was quite friendly and sarcastic/witty in a good way. It is also my understanding that, if you present an OU student ID card, there is a substantial discount available -- with average prices without discount.

I think O'Connell's is a good place for the bar scene and such. I like that they give you plastic cups that you can keep. I love their Wings deal on Monday! 50 cent wings. You can get a good amount of food for a pretty good price! And their wings are big!! Not like the ones from BBW. I like their original sauce. They have a spicy sauce too, but I really didn't like that one. It just tastes like tabasco sauce to me.... Their original sauce is better and good enough to eat, but definitely on the sweet side. They give a hefty pour of sauce on their wings and their is definitely no need to dip it more so in it. But like I said, its a good deal and filling.

This is a decent place to go for a drink while hanging out, or for Thursday nigh trivia night, but that's about it. The food is just ok, very generic bar food that's a little over priced. The wings are actually pretty good though because the sauce is tasty. Just beware that they're over-sauced (I suggest asking for it on the side) and overpriced at about $1 per wing. The drinks are ok, but they are regularly out of beer selections and their well options for liquor are terrible (common theme in Norman). The service is also consistently terrible. I usually visit with a group of 4 and each time we've had to wait for a long time for each stage of service, from greeting to ordering to paying out. Usually the server drops the water at the table without a word and immediately walks off. We've had to flag down our server after several minutes to inform her (somehow it's always a female, I'm not just biased) that we are actually going to order food. Or drinks other than water. If they didn't offer a decent trivia night from The Lost Ogle, I wouldn't visit at all.

Service is always terrible. Even when no one else is in the restaurant the waitstaff is inattentive.

I know it's game day. I know that most college youth are wasteful. But dear god, please give me more than one napkin. And are you serious about the little plastic cups for drinks? I wanted a Coke before I started my drinking binge and they bring out this little yellow plastic cup that won't even hold a whole can of soda. I enjoy O'connell's food, atmosphere and drinks. I don't mind the crowds on game-days. But once I do finally manage to get a table I want to enjoy my time sitting there eating my sandwich like a big boy.

I realize if you're running a restaurant in a tourist district or near a college crowd it means certain standards are never an issue, but if the hat-trick is painfully slow and clueless service, food so awful the lack of effort or care in cooking it was probably a chore in itself, and happy hour prices that are pointlessly argued about with management after the so-called meal (Blue Moon is a domestic, and I know this by where it's listed on your classy, laminated menu), then congratulations on your hat-trick. We felt ashamed for having eaten there; even after I figured out it was probably a good idea not to order the fish & chips in the "pub", we stayed, so we have only ourselves to blame. On the bright side, the flies seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Instead of standing in line and paying a cover at Howl at the Moon like my firends and I originally planned, we went across the street and walked right in to O'connell's. Downstairs was crowded in the shotgun style bar, so we headed upstairs where we found a table to sit down. No problem ordering rounds, though there were lots of people in this place. Lots of selection, stiff liquor drinks, cold beer. They had ESPN on in the corner.

Was in back in town, so wanted to go back to O'Connell's, especially since the manager reached out to my original review to let me know to ask for a souvenir cup when I got there. So I asked...and they were out of cups. Thumbs down. They also got one of our orders wrong. Food was tasty though.

This place has the best burgers in Norman. Can't go wrong eating here. I would recommend the ranchhand, it is the best. They have a huge selection of beer on tap and it is always the coldest in town!

They should have never moved. The parking on Campus Corner is absolutely worthless no matter what establishment you are trying to get to. The food is about the same as it was, but it seems to take twice as long to arrive. Something about me just can't leave this place alone. Maybe it's the Sooner in me, and it's just a part of who I am...but I keep coming back, regardless of the complaints. And you will too.

I went with a small group on a Friday and it was fairly busy. We didn't have to wait for a table. I had the bacon cheeseburger and curly fries. Both items were really good. I loved the curly fries because they weren't overdone. I tried several shots from the shots menu and liked all of them. My favorites were pineapple upside down cake, chocolate cake and white gummy bear. Our waitress was great and very attentive. The meal and drinks were affordable. Fun place to go with friends!

Venerable Campus Corner restaurant. When I was in college, it was at the old location on Lindsey. It is now on Asp in the heart of Campus Corner. This location is larger, and cleaner, than the old location. As I have many fond memories of the old location, the new one will take some getting used to. That being said, the quality of the food hasn't changed. A buddy and I took our kids to O'Connell's after going to the Medieval Fair. The kids' chicken strip basket is large, and the strips were well above average. All white meat, and the breading wasn't too thick. All of the kids at our table liked them, as did the adults that stole bites. The group tried the chips, salsa, and queso to start. I was disappointed by all. The queso is served in a tortilla bowl, which I think gives the illusion that you are getting more queso than you think you are. But, eating the bowl was tasty, so there's that. The queso is Velveeta (or processed cheese) based, which I don't prefer. I didn't hate it, but I certainly didn't love it either. The chips are not warm, but we were given a couple of refills, which we appreciated. For lunch, I had my old standby: the ranch burger. Served with ranch, shredded cheddar cheese, and crumbled bacon, you can choose a third pound or half pound patty. I went with the third, which is plenty large enough. The beef was overcooked, but still had good flavor. I really like O'Connell's ranch, always have. There are plenty of toppings, you get everything in every bite. I went with the curly fries, which are standard. They needed more seasoning, but were fine. There is a decent selection of beers on tap, and good prices on pitchers. We got a solid local microbrew pitcher for $12. Service was great, but the place wasn't busy on a Sunday afternoon. But, we never had to wait on refills and got our check timely. As much as I miss my college days at the old spot, none of the quality is from O'Connell's. I'll return.

Had a great time with friends last night. Drinks were great and atmosphere was good. They make a mean gin and tonic. I like coming here and chilling with friends and I like the location.

Tried to go on a Sunday afternoon a couple of weeks ago. Got there around 1:30, doors were locked. I had checked their website before I had left to make sure they were open on Sundays. No sign on the door, nothing posted on Facebook or Twitter saying there were closed. Finally got someone's attention at the door, he said they were closed. He just shrugged his shoulders when I asked why, and why nothing was posted anywhere. I'll be upfront, I had a Groupon that was going to expire in the next couple of weeks. I reached out to Groupon to get a refund, they said first they'd have to contact the restaurant, and emailed me back and said someone from O'Connell's should be calling me within three days. Well almost a week later, and still nothing. Luckily I did get a refund from Groupon. I had never been here before, but don't think I'll ever visit again. Their customer communication skills leave a lot to be desired.

Great place, great food, can be noisy in the evenings but hey, it's a bar. Every night of the week has a theme. My favorite night is Wednesday because they have 4 dollar burgers! I believe it's between 7 and 11pm. They're 1/2 pound charbroiled awesomeness and you can add extra toppings like bacon, cheese, jalapeños, ect, for 65 cents each. It's an awesome deal and if you're a Sooner fan it's right next to campus. And Wednesdays also have karaoke around 11pm. The staff are very friendly and MY experiences with the service have been good, but you know how one person can praise a staff and another condemn them. The 2 down sides to this place are the noise if you go late in the evening and the parking is slim. Other than that it's a great eat and drink.

Not a fan of the location, I'm sure they suffer on game days not being on the corner of the stadium! But good was still pretty good and waitress staff is extremely pleasurable.

Cleanest bathrooms on Campus Corner, for real. But seriously on the bathrooms. This is a very historical bar for Norman (even though the original O'Connell's is now dorm rooms). It's on the top of the list for pre- and post- home game fun for the Sooners. They also have Trivia nights, Karaoke, Bingo, there's always something to do here, and the bar has a killer view of the TVs for watching games. While I am obsessed with the fried pickles (and somehow their ranch tastes better than any other ranch), there aren't a lot of healthy options or options for vegeterians, vegans, which might be wise for them, as that's the growing trend, especially in a college town. Their (now) $4 burger nights are always fun. You can get a lot of good deals on alcohol, especially if you don't mind the 3.2 game - pitchers are what, $5? Steal! The food prices have gone up significantly in the past year or so, but still affordable, meals under $10.

I have eaten here before and it wasn't a bad burger. Tonight, the service was spot on but the burger and fries were soggy. The onion ring coating was like pancake batter. Frankly, it was awful. I won't be back anytime soon.

Burger raw and cold in the middle. My son ordered cheddar cheese on his burger and got American. When we informed the waitress her reply was "no he didn't he ordered American" what kind of waitress says that?

I didn't have the best experience here. The restaurant was full so we had to go sit in the upstairs smoking room. Considering that the other places we tried around campus corner were equally as full that night, we decided to go ahead and eat here. The food wasn't that great and sitting in the smoking room was awful. I probably wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Too much trouble for meager quality food.
