The service was impeccable, and not just from our server, but everyone who was working. Everyone was personable and helpful. The blackened filet, cooked medium rare, was delicious. The shrimp that came with the special was decent, maybe over cooked a little, but the sauce was delicious. The twice baked potato could have been creamier, but that's just pickiness on my part. The wine was excellent! Overall, it's a very nice steakhouse that is definitely worth a visit.

My husband and I wanted to have a nice meal on our 2nd anniversary. We didn't get to, so this trip was a delayed outing for the occasion. Our visit to this hidden little restaurant was for their lunch service which I think was a great choice. We were one of two tables that had anyone there. So, it was like we had the place all to ourselves for our romantic meal. I loved it. The design was open and huge inside with brick walls mostly, kind of like a warehouse remade into a restaurant. However with the dark toned tables and lighting, it was very romantic and elegant. I am not sure how that worked but it did. Really. We had the crab cakes as an appetizer, and they melted in your mouth. So, light and wonderful. We shared, one for each of us. Again that romantic thing going on. Then the meals came out and again, the quality was superb. My husband had the Mediterranean tilapia and I had the beef medallions. The tilapia was light, and the medallions were perfectly cooked at medium rare for me. The service was right on, as well. We felt like we were indeed being given the five star treatment, which being so few there, was probably part of it, but from the smooth way the meal was served, I would say this is likely their norm.

Solid atmosphere in a roomy basement - went here and got the traditional filet with a glass of red - I would definitely recommend stopping in here if you are in the area - strong meal

A great destination spot and worth the travel. The atmosphere is very unusual, in the basement of a really cool old building you feel like you might be sitting in the same chair Jesse James might have sat. The steaks are mouthwatering good. A little pricy but most definitely worth the price.

Wonderful!!! Everything we had was phenomenal. My filet was cooked perfectly. The pineapple upside down cake cocktail was scrumptious. My husbands food was fantastic. Our friend who came along had the salmon which was also amazing. Definitely eat here if your in the area.

I've always enjoyed my experience at Gage's. Tonight I had the Parmesan Crusted Chicken on Fettuccine Alfredo & it was delicious. It could have used some greens of some sort like broccoli but the chicken was very tender & the sauce thick. Hope you enjoy.

This is as close to fine dining as you will find in Guthrie, OK. We were unsure of what to expect, and were pleasantly surprised. The interior is nicely done, but could be more cozy with the right lighting. Still, overall it is beautiful and classy. Hardwood floors, open and airy, tastefully decorated with local art. The food was delicious. Hubby and I split the crab cakes for an appetizer. We are accustomed to Maryland style crab cakes which are 99% lump crab, so we are always hesitant to order crab cakes. But the description of them included Boursin cheese and we couldn't resist. They had plenty of crab, were creamy and tangy and delicious. My husband ordered a ribeye steak with a pepper butter and side of twice baked potatoes. His steak was good, not the best he's ever had, but good. The twice baked potatoes were out of this world (he shared a bite with me). Highly recommend! I had the strawberry salad to start. Everything about it was great - well balanced, not too much or too little of any one thing, and the strawberry vinaigrette was very nice. The candied pecans made it really special. My entree was the veal Marsala. Much to my surprise, the Marsala sauce was probably one of the best I've ever tasted. The veal was cooked perfectly - not overdone as many places tend to do with veal. Very delicious. They have a full bar, but could improve on their beer list (I'm a beer snob...can't help it.) Go here - you won't regret it!

Staying in a little BnB in town. Walked to Gage's. It is very old Town and cool atmosphere. I was alone so I sat at the bar had a couple of drinks and a meal. The bar tender was very enjoyable to talk to. The wait staff offered me some home baked goods someone brought in. I had the almond crusted shrimp. I know I should of ordered a steak but I was in the mood for seafood. Bet nice place to have a meal. I recommend it. I really liked the little town of Guthrie. Glad I came.

The food was really good. The steaks were as good as red prime / opus / and other high end steakhouses. We also tried the tomato bisk soup which was so good. The wine list had some good choices on it. My only complaint would be that the ceased salad was some what dry and bland, but probably more authentic. I prefer my ceaser tossed in the dressing and chilled. But that's really picky. The atmosphere is great and made a fun date night. Service was top notch and friendly .

Very good food again! My wife and I visited Gage's on a Saturday night prior to a show at the pollard theater and it did not disappoint. This place was full without feeling like it. The tables are placed with enough space to give you a little room and privacy for your own conversation. The service here was great as well for sure. The drinks came quick, the soup special was really good and the main entree was amazing.

Our waitress (apparently the owners daughter) got sent home early on because she was drunk (and fun), our other waitress Katie is hilarious. At this point they could serve me a dog turd because its been a fun and entertaining night. 5 stars.

Best restaurant in Guthrie although our first waitress was so drunk she was asked to leave and our order took forever because the drunk waitress (Alexa apparently the owners daughter with a white convertible mustang) I only know because she kept telling us like nine times!!! But the food was good and the experience was hilarious and they did take care if us on the bill by the end.

Before you go any further, it's important that you know one thing; I do not share food with people, ever. But on my first visit to Gages, I had such an amazing epicurean experience, that I simply had to share it with everyone at my table. The Filet of Beef, and the marinade they have created for it, is one of the most incredible fine dining experiences you can partake in. Everyone that tasted it rolled their eyes with delight and I heard a lot of "I wish I had ordered that!" from my dining companions. However, as repayment, I was able to sample their dishes, and I must say that every single one of them (6 of us all ordered something unique) were 5-star dining quality. For side dishes, I highly recommend the twice-baked potatoes. The only negative is that, as the finest establishment on Guthrie, the restaurant can be busy. Reservations are highly recommended on weekends and during the holidays.

The only place I will eat in Guthrie! I'm a sales rep and find myself in Guthrie about twice a month. I generally bring my lunch since there are very few restaurants, until I found Gage's. You can enjoy an excellent lunch for a fair price in a lovely atmosphere. Their warm rolls make you feel at home, and their customer service is excellent. New favorite (and only) lunch spot in Guthrie!

My husband and I were staying across the street at the Jaded Getaway, so we though we'd give Gage's was a try. It did not disappoint! I had the pan seared chicken and my husband had the T-bone steak. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The service, the meals and especially the rolls were fabulous. The only downside, if you're a childless couple looking for a quiet evening, is it is a kid-friendly establishment.

This was my wife and I second time here. My wife ordered the same salmon with cream sauce. This time she felt the sauce was not quite as good but was still good. Her salmon was excellent - very fresh it seemed. I ordered the Delmonico steak and it was great - 4 stars. If i had not eaten so much of their bread and delicious butter - i wouldn't have had leftovers for today. Yay me!

My husband and I live in Guthrie. It is so nice to have a restaurant where I can get an excellent Bond Martini (shaken not stirred) and enjoy good food in an atmosphere that is special and fun, without driving to OKC! THE CRAB CAKE appetizer is very good and the steaks have always been juicy and tender. Great service, friendly, accommodating staff!

Ate the special for the evening. Home fried chicken and it was very good. Caesar salad was very tasty. Full bar and they pour good drinks. Visited with the owner, Ronnie and he was delightful. It is the best place I've eaten in Guthrie and I come here many times a year on business. Spoke to other patrons who had ordered steak and they said it was perfection!! Chef told me that they only serve dry aged steaks and they cut them there.

Wow, very fair prices for what you get. My wife and I split a rib eye and still took home to go bags. The quality of steaks is very good (I believe 30 day, aged prime) and save room for dessert their Crème brûlée is one of the best I have had. No need for reservations . . . yet!

Was in town with my wife and another couple for The Gentlemen of the Road Tour and was by far the best place in town to get out of the heat and refresh yourself with a cocktail. We didn't eat but the food looked great. The hospitality was great and the drinks were on point. I highly recommend getting the "red death". Not sure what all was in it, but it was like 6 or 7 liquors. It looks like a girlie drink but it was a nice change of pace from the whiskey I had been drinking all weekend. It's pretty potent as well. Overall, great ambiance, great experience.

Fantastic atmosphere. Historical building with lots of spacious seating, well ventilated and comfortable with a almost rustic style interior. Rolls are fantastic! Can't wait to try the steak. Dinner over and am stuffed!! Special tonight was an Angus Ribeye with lump crab, carrots and asparagus, 1/2 stuffed baked potato and choice of salads/soup. Had the wedge salad. The steak was great--served hot--unlike the trend lately elsewhere where the food is lukewarm when delivered. Veggies were cooked perfectly. Potatoes weren't the best that I've had, but still good. Our waiter was wonderful--very professional environment without being too formal. I enjoyed this as much as Delmonico's in Las Vegas! No ideas what desserts were offered, no way to fit it in! Before leaving, our waiter informed us of hamburger deal on Tuesday, fried chicken on Wednesdays and fried pork chops on Thursday--with sides for $7-10!! The advice I would lend would be to order your steak more rare than usual--mine was medium and I would have considered it medium well--the others in our party agreed--go a level more rare to get it perfect. Still an absolutely delicious dinner!

OMG we spent our 4 year anniversary man this place was amazing very roomie. The service was top notch. The steak was perfect and the sides were to die for. This is a place worth driving to Guthrie for. My wife and both had the dominican steak it was a 16 oz ribeyethe sauce it was cooked in was amazing. The hand made potatos al gratan were out of this world. IF YOUR READING THIS PUT THE PHONE DOWN AND GO EAT HERE....

This place is understated, underpriced, and underground. Literally, underground. Guthrie has a hidden gem. We spent the day touring historic sites in Guthrie. Who knew there were secret catacombs, secret societies, and tons of architectural spots in small-town Oklahoma?! And then we needed to eat dinner. A friendly local said "You should try Gages. It doesn't look kid friendly from outside, but trust me, your kids will be happy and you two will have great steaks." They were on the mark! The decor is stone, wood, and stained glass lamps, but it has a clean, almost contemporary feel. My wife had an excellent Manhattan and I had a terrific red wine off their well-selected but very reasonably priced by-the-glass list. The kids had macaroni and cheese and hot dogs, and they brought the kids' food quickly, along with rolls and our salads, to keep them busy. They loved e food. Our waiter, Jonathon, was friendly, perfectly paced and very attentive. I ordered the tournedos of beef au poivre, medium rare, and they were perfect, as were the julienned vegetables and garlic mashed potatoes. My wife's filet, ordered rare, was slightly more done than a true rare but was so good she didn't miss a single bite. Kids meals come with a dessert (one had a fudge sickle and one chocolate pudding, with other options available) and my wife and I split a delicious molten chocolate cake with ice cream. Excellent steak for under $30 is getting more and more difficult in OKC metro (a big night out for four with three drinks for under $100?!) but head to Guthrie and you'll find it here, in a beautiful place, among friendly people and amazing history. We'll be back.

We enjoyed a wonderful meal during a Victorian Christmas evening earlier this month. Food was excellent and the service was absolutely superb. We usually stay in Edmond, OK on our trips back and forth from Canada to Texas. However, Guthrie, OK and Gages will be a must stop in future.
