I tried Elmer's on my first trip to Enid back in the summer of 13. Im going to make this short and sweet because I hate busting on places too hard. My parents ate their with myself and my wife. My parents are from KC and we lived in KC the past 5 yrs. If you like KC bbq dont eat here. The sauce is bad like nasty old salty bad. And the portions were small for the price. I didnt like it my parents didnt like it and my wife didnt like it. We ended up eating at mc donalds a few hrs later because none of us could stomach to finish our food. Go to Phils Blazes or rib crib they are all better.

Ate here a few months ago with the wife for lunch. Pretty damn good BBQ. Tender meat and a good sauce with a nice little kick. The baked beans were really good!

Yuck! First, my son and I enjoy trying new places in unfamiliar places, and we chose here. Yikes! Mistake! We got there on a Tuesday at noon. Only two customers there. Probably not a good sign. We ordered brisket, lean, for $14 and catfish. After an over 30 minute wait, and the other two customera were already eating when we arrived, the food finally came. The brisket was three paper thin, microwaved, pieces of meat. They more resembled beef jerky. The sides were NOT homemade. The toast was burned. Ordered corn muffins, but they didn't have any. The catfish was frozen and soggy. Disappointed for sure. Check this one off the list. The bill for the two of us was $27.00. I don't mind paying for lunch, but this was a joke. Save your money and go else where.

I have had my ups and downs with this joint. They got a third chance the first time they were in business and they then remained consistent. There were dark rumours as to why they closed the doors but now that they have reopened I figured I would give them another go. Still up to the same old shenanigans. I ALWAYS order the sampler platter. Today I got it to go. I had to wait for over 15 minutes even though there was only one order before mine(two chopped brisket sandwiches and two potato salads, also to go)Lucky for me it was a Saturday and I was in no hurry. Not good. The fact that I could hear my "barbecued" meal being microwaved the entire time was very disheartening. The cost of my misery... $14.62. The run down goes as such: 1 rib (decent), 2 slices of beef brisket (incorrectly cut(with the grain)and chewy), 3 ounce cup of chopped pork (actually cubed and spongy... I assume from the microwaving and I am pretty sure the standard is PULLED pork, just odd or lazy?), 1 red hot (not sliced and so dry on one end I could not chew it), 3 ounces potato salad (not bad), and 3 ounces baked beans (scorched and not very flavourful even while totally inedible). They always throw in a pickle spear, TOASTED? Texas toast(never seen a barbecue place do this as it is designed to mop up sauce), and sliced red onion (amateur hour to say the least, looked like a three year old cut them). Handed off to me by the most clueless server I have seen in some time. Her parting words: "Sorry for your wait hon, have a nice... (long pause) day or night or whatever." P.S. it is well known this owner hires ladies from the drug rehabilitation center up the road. They have always been a bit crass and unprofessional, and unkempt to boot. Mr. Elmer (if that is your real name?!!!) I hope you "get your groove back" as this time around there will not be a Three Strikes Policy. I am going once more and then I will fade to black as I quite honestly feel you should think of doing unless you hire some qualified personel to help you achieve some consistent food and service.

I ate at two Elmer's in 24 hours. Although the Tulsa one tastes even better than the Enid one (they are unrelated), the Enid one is much more reasonably priced with larger portions. The beef was exceptionally well cooked, which is rare for BBQ joints.
