I don't understand the good reviews. I felt sick after eating here. Ribs were dripping with fat. Turkey and brisket very dry and tasteless. Avoid the "famous" desert. The wait staff seemed tired.

I used to get BBQ here frequently but the last couple of times have been a disappointment. On both occassions the smoked meats were cold as were the "hot" side items, and the bread was stale. On the occassion prior ot my last, and it will be my last, I contacted the store and spoke with the shift manager. He promptly blamed the issue on a "new kitchen crew" and his kitchen manager. I wated a few weks to give their "new" kitchen crew time to get up to speed. Apparently that never happened.

I like barbecue. A lot. So I've made it my mission, since moving to Oklahoma a couple years ago, to try all the local joints. Truthfully, they're all pretty good. So, why do I like Steve's Rib? Well, the meat is good and the sides are good, but the real reason is that I don't feel like it's some sort of hardship to eat there. It's a nice building with nice decor. It's clean. The staff is helpful and pleasant. Heck, even the sides are good. What's wrong with these people? Don't they know that barbecue is supposed to be hard? Smokey meat, white bread and attitude? Well, perhaps I'm getting soft in my old age, but I like this place.

Ribs are awesome, prices are too high. Potato salad isn't very good. Go for the ribs!

Not as good as I remembered it. I hadn't been here in awhile and was in the neighborhood so I thought I'd stop and have some "good" bar b q. I had the two meat dinner with macaroni and cheese and cole slaw. The brisket was very dry and the ribs were small. The sides were actually better than the meat. I had to go to Spencer's Bar B Q the next day to get some "good" bar b q to wash away the poor experience I had at Steve's. Overall grade "C-". I won't stop back in anytime soon.

BEST BBQ in Oklahoma City...by a mile. I always get the chopped brisket and it's consistently very good and also very lean. I don't prefer a lot of fat in my brisket, and Steve's always does this right! Their BBQ sauce is exceptional as well. I don't disagree with some folks that their sides could use some improvement, but I don't come here to worry much about the sides. The meat is where it's at! Their brownie sundae is really good :-) This is a highly recommended stop!

Supper was excellent. The sampler plate was tasty and plenty to have leftovers for lunch today for us both at only $16. She had the chicken wrap and devoured it all. Her comments were how fresh it was and the salsa was nice and tart and spicy. Our guest also enjoyed her brisket plate with smile and a nod!!! You know when they both say that we should come more often that it was a good choice!

Fried catfish, two ribs, sliced brisket, loaded baked potatoe, corn on the cob, jalapeno hush puppies. The best mango margarita in okc! Iove that Steve's rib don't have a lot of fat on their bbq. There is a good flavor on the smoked meats. If you get the loaded baked potatoe they top with real bacon. I ended up putting my sliced brisket on top of the loaded baked potatoe. So so so good. The jalapeno hush puppies are fantastic. I love this location its a little more nicer than THE original Steve's rib on Rockwell. But Same great food!

I came into Steve's Rib for a late Saturday afternoon lunch. I ordered a 3 meat dinner with Ribs, Chopped Brisket and Pulled Pork. I chose sides of fries, Barbecue Beans and Macaroni and cheese. I drank sweet Tea. To make it short.... The ribs were good, tender and flavorful. The Brisket wast good. It was smoky and tender. The Pulled Pork was not good. It was not tender and tasted like Turkey. I will not eat that here again. The fries were a bit soggy this time...not typical here. The beans were good if a little too saucy but I like to use them as a condiment. The Mac and cheese was good. It was creamy cheesy pasta with just enough pepper to keep up with the Barbecue. The sweet tea got a passing grade....not typical at restaurants. All in all I suggest Steve's Rib as long as you avoid the Pulled Pork.

I hate to do it to you, Steve's. I do. But here's my biggest complaint: YOUR PRICES ARE RIDIC. Seriously. A plate of overcooked ribs for $18? A salad for $13? It's lettuce at a BBQ place. Lettuce. I mean. The fries are meh. The green beans are canned. The meat is often dry. And yet, when I worked in Edmond, it was worth a swing by because it was affordable. AND NOW? Sigh. I just won't spend that kind of dough on such abysmal food. Especially not when there are far better places to go within *spitting distance. *Sorry I mentioned spitting in a food review.

Wow, I can't believe some of these negative reviews. I kind of suspect Steve has some competitors hiring reviewers. Anyway, on to my review... In the beginning of my culture shock moving from Denver, I stumbled into a rather ghetto Steve's rib on the Northwest end of OKC because I was stuck over there waiting for a Pakistani college student I found on Craigslist to hack my Cricket phone to work on the OKC network after I got the dumb cow stare from every Cricket store employee in OKC about how to make it work. I didn't expect the food to be good, and I was pleasantly surprised to find the place I randomly stumbled into out of convenience of location had really good barbecue. Since then I discovered the much nicer location which is closer to my home in Edmond, and we eat there on a fairly regular basis. They always seat us quickly, and the service is usually pretty quick. I almost always order the ribs, because I know they are smoky and tender, and they almost always are. Ribs can be tricky, and even when I go through great lengths to smoke them myself, they are kind of elusive to get JUST right. But this place has a better good to bad ratio than anywhere I've been around here. I've also had the pulled pork, which is not bad either. My wife ordered those spicy boneless chicken wing things once, and they were SO good, we usually get an order of them. The sides are as expected for me. No complaints. The cobbler... Let me just say. This is not that mushy melange of pie crust and bland fruit you have had elsewhere. Steve has some kind of magical secret to how he makes the buttermilk component of the cobbler. It is crunchy while being succulent and moist, and tasting incredible, and I am generally not a big fan of buttermilk. This cobbler is a MUST try. You WILL like it.

We have three go to places for BBQ in town and this is one of them..probably hubby's favorite and my number two. I love the brisket, nice and lean and not dried out. Hubby likes the turkey...real turkey, not that pressed roll that some still try to pawn off on their customers. The onion rings are a favorite of mine and hubby likes the fried okra. (Sorry, this Jersey gal still can't grasp the fascination with okra not matter how long I live here. :) The ribs are good too and they have a full bar. What more do you need. How about a deal? Daily special during the week are pretty good. Monday nights you can get a BBQ sandwich of your choice, one side and a beverage for $5.50. Head on over and try them out...you won't be sorry.

OMG I love this place!!! Food is always fresh, service is always awesome!!! The peach cobbler is ssooo to die for... the chips and salsa are always a good starter. Thanks to what seems to be great management this place is an A+ for me.. great staff and fun atmosphere. .

I was not satisfied with Steve's Rib. The waiter had to comeback twice, and have me reorder because they either didn't have or "weren't serving" what I ordered. That kind pissed me off, but hey I get it.....sometimes that junk just happens. I don't blame the waiter, he was cool about it and apologized a bunch. This isn't why I gave this place a crap rating, but it certainly didn't help. Why I didn't like this place: The food was crap, plain and simple. After reordering a bunch, I had the turkey sandwich. It was soooooooo dry. I mean shockingly dry. To the point that, for the first time in my life, wished there was more mayo. More to the point, my girlfriend's pulled pork was extremely dry too. Just really bad. Like everything was either left out or cooked to hell. The pros 1) nice staff The cons 1) The food was extremely dry. This is the biggest red flag in bbq for me. 2) The staff had no clue that they were out of two separate meats....odd. Will I give it another try? Maaaaaaaaybe.

Only positive I can see is the sauce is very good, which is needed for the institutional quality ribs that must have been cooked in an oven, not smoked as ribs were meant to be. Sorry not impressed, and not a competitor, just a person looking for good ribs.

  • Natasha W.

This is a convenient place for us, relative to other BBQ places in Edmond. Every time I go, I ask myself why didn't I drive a little further for something better. Their okra is a must-pass, which is a quintessential BBQ side. Their "smoked" turkey has the aroma but not the flavor you would expect. The ribs are so-so and don't even bother with the steak.

    (2)
  • Bud G.

Damn the brisket is dry! Reminds me of when I was a kid and my parents made me eat roast. Chewed for days on it then asked if I could use the restroom and would spit it in the toilet.

I have this amazing feeling that this place serves decent steaks. Ordered their pulled pork and brisket. The pork was nothing special, I often notice that black weird thing on it. Don't know what it is, and I don't have any idea what it is. The place was okay, except that you get smoked when you are here. Not a good place to eat when want to roam to other places after this. Recommended place before going home.

We dine here some on Sundays after church. There is usually never a wait. Some may consider this a bad sign. It works great for us as there are usually 9 of us at a table. The queso appetizer comes with salsa and is a great way to start the meal. I almost always order the Santa Fe salad. It is huge and very filling. My husband rotates what he orders. This last time he tried the new smoked burger and really liked it. The kids are happy here and love the steak fries (I always have to steal a few). My oldest usually gets the kids ribs and loves them. Steve's isn't our favorite for BBQ, but is a good choice for an easy meal. There are many menu choices to choose from. I also should mention that the potato skins with brisket and the BBQ ranch dressing are SO good!!

I'm really surprised Steve's has even three stars. I remember when it wasn't great, but it passed. Just had a pulled pork sandwich and couldn't detect a trace of smoke - it was almost like it had been boiled. Potato salad and baked beans also were very generic and didn't really have much character. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things - I'll try something different next time.

  • Kara W.

Never had a problem here. Food is always outstanding. I don't think I've ever had to wait more than 5 minutes for my meal - it comes out hot and delicious. Servers are fantastic! Ribs are awesome. The chili queso is to dieeee for. My husband and I can't find a better place with chips and queso. Awesome food. Fantastic atmosphere!!!!

I'm not sure we're even talking about the same place. Steve's Ribs in Edmond, right? I've been going there (or Take-Out) for about 8-10 years and one location change. I don't eat turkey or prime rib when I go to BBQ, but the brisket & ribs are the best in OKC, especially now that County Line is closed. Sauce is good (both of them). The worst complaint I can think of is I usually eat the sides first and ribs last and sometimes they have cooled, but is that SR's fault? No. So go, enjoy, eat BBQ (not turkey). You will like it. Don't judge on 1 or 2 vists from 3 years ago, and if it's not right, tell the manager, don't whine about it months later on the web. Again, we go at least twice a month and I've never had a bad meal. Sit in the bar, not the kiddie section. Watch the game. P.S. My wife loves the turkey!

For my first visit to OKC, my boyfriend takes me to Steve's Rib for lunch because I wanted BBQ goodness. Ummm.... The Sweet Tea is just divine. I love my MC-E-Dee's Sweet Tea, but Steve's Rib's version is even better! The waitress was super cute and so happy to help. She made a couple suggestions since this was my first time there. I ordered the pulled pork sammy with a side of slaw. I decided to be creative and mixed the slaw into my sandwich- good idea! The pork was a tad dry and I wasn't really a fan of the sauce. Oh gosh, please don't be mad that I said that, but it was just far too sweet for me.

Here it is--the bad service review. Sam's Summer on draft = 3.5 stars; Overall = a generous 1 (the Yelp-minimum). Tuesday night (of baseball's All Star game in fact)--arrived at 815. Asked to eat in the bar. Hostesses (plural) looked at us like zombies waiting for the shift end so that they could repast themselves with the blood of dead/ rotting corpses left without sustenance at the bar area. Buddy and I sat at the bar and the 20 ish bartender (hereinafter "BT") was visibly stirred by our arrival, not in a good way. [The only concession that I will give in this review is that 4 guys, who each appeared ~ 21 y.o. were seated down the bar from us: it seemed that they had been working their way through brews and Midori shots for awhile. Don't know if they had been rowdy, or about to stiff BT, or what--but it seemed BT palpably sick of them or of life itself.] After ordering our brews, and asking for menus (hint)... our beers arrived, 2 menus were dropped in front of us; and BT disappeared for 5 mins, leaving the bar untended. The manager (I presume by his buttoned up shirt and the fact that he was the only employee in the vicinity of 30 years old) happened by a couple times, apparently only to ensure that none of the young lads were going to hop the counter and run off with the Midori or the Yag bottles. We should have known. BT happened back by to make some drinks for the servers. We told him we were going to switch to a table in the bar area (hint), he groaned something inaudible. Approx time ~ 835 pm. I visited the men's room and as I walked up, told one of the zombies planted at the host stand that we had switched to table inside bar area, and please send a server our way. Arrive back at table ~ 840. BT is behind the bar, talking on ye olde iPhone. Buddy is starting to steam: we discussed summoning the apparent Mgr. Buddy was too steamed to give it a shot. He walks up to pay BT, and BT (as he is walking up) zooms around the other side of the bar, comes out to the table, where I am slurping up my Sam's Summer to get out of there. BT rapidly approaches my table, and says the only words he articulated all night (besides grunting)--"Are you guys going to eat--you know it is 845 and we close at 9." Service--zero stars (a team effort!), because we didn't receive any. My buddy assures me that he'd enjoyed the food on prior visits. Neither of us will be back. We drove to Charleston's, where even at 8-9 pm, one can get some service.

Time and again, I've tried to give Steves Rib the benefit of doubt, thinking that maybe I just caught them on "off" nights, but I guess it's time to finally accept that it's just how they treat people and it's never going to change. About 4-1/2 years ago, my wife called in an $80 order for a family get-together at our house. She chose Steves because our infant son had fallen asleep in the back seat and it was a cold, wet, windy night, so we didn't want to get him out and wake him. We knew Steves has a drive-through. When I pulled up to the drive-through, I was told that we can't pick up call-in orders at the drive-through. I asked why and they said it's because call-in orders are rung up on a different register. I explained the situation and asked if they could please make an exception and they flat-out told me NO with a serious attitude. Needless to say, they lost out on our money that night and I, being the principled person I am, decided we would no longer patronize their restaurant. A couple of years later, we decided to try Steves again. This time we stopped in the restaurant to dine in. After waiting 40 minutes on a Tuesday at 5pm, we were seated and waited another 15 minutes before the waiter even acknowledged us. Long story short, we finally got our food at 7pm and it was cold, the waiter was rude, and the experience overall was one of the worst dine-in experiences we've had. Again, we decided that would be our last time at Steves. Fast forward to tonight. We decided, once again, to give Steves a try. I drove up there to get our food, knowing that if I called it in, I wouldn't be able to pick it up in the drive-through. I pulled up to the speaker and waited for someone to take my order. After a 3-minute wait, someone came on the speaker and asked what I'd like. I started reading my order off and was interrupted with "Sorry sir, you can't order a burger at the drive-through." I said "I'm sorry, what was that?" to which he replied "You can't order grille food at the drive-through." Now, maybe I'm just crazy to think that the same food that's on a restaurant's menu would be available regardless of where or how you order it? Maybe it's ridiculous to think that the "servers" or owners of a restaurant would want their customers to be happy so they come back. Or maybe I'm crazy to think that it wouldn't be that hard to walk food that was phoned in over to the drive-through window. Whatever the case, three strikes and you're out, Steves. We've tried to love ya, but you just make it too damn hard. It shouldn't be this difficult to pay your high prices for your average food, and since it is, we'll stick with Ron's, Billy Sim's, Slim Chickens, or the many other great places within a half-mile of your "restaurant," at all of which we've had great experiences where we felt like our patronage was wanted and appreciated, and we actually got good food and smiling service. Don't worry though, I'm sure you won't miss those of us who live within 2 miles of your establishment and eat out 2-3 times per week.

I tried their brisket this time. DELICIOUS! My family got a half pound each of the chopped brisket and the sliced brisket, definitely go for the sliced brisket, wayyyy better. Also +1 for the baked potatoes there. I had a loaded one, it was very tasty. Lots of toppings: bacon, chives, sour cream, butter, the works, and it was cheap too! Another good experience at Steve's

I love this place... My wife and I found it when we got married almost 15 years ago. People have changed but the ribs and chopped brisket are still great! We order the deluxe 2 meat dinner and typically split it. It is enough for both of us. Plus we order an extra "tater"... We highly recommend Steve's....

  • Karen G.

Had rib/catfish dinner. Ribs were beef ribs, very tender. Not a huge fan of the BBQ sauce. The catfish was a little fishy tasting--not the best I've had, but good. Sat on the "bar" side of the restaurant--seemed a little too sports bar for the dining experience I was looking for, but will go back.

The waitress had no clue about how some items where cooked, my wife ordered their grilled chicken and it was dry and very tough like it sat all day waiting just for her. I had ribs that there r no words to explain how bad they were.... all in all food tasteless and over done over priced and when my wife told manager he offered her complimentary cobbler, but we were afraid to try after the feedback she left. So with all that said I would recommend highly go to Earls Rib Place for burgers and chicken, Rudys BBQ for brisket and ribs. I wouldn't give them even one star.

  • Ron W.

First let me start off by saying that we got our order to go. We went here to get something quick to eat while I was visiting my parents in Oklahoma. I had the ribs with baked beans and coleslaw. The ribs were cooked great. They had a great smoke ring and were not fall off the bone but needed a slight pull. That is perfect!. The coleslaw and beans were pretty good as well. The only thing I would said is that the ribs needed more seasoning. Maybe a stronger dry rub would have been better. Most people drown them in the BBQ sauce but I use very little. Other then that it was really good!

    (4)
  • David W.

I haven't had all the food on the me u but I've had a lot. The ribs are the best in Edmond by far. The burgers are also great as well as the brisket. The prime rib is also very good. I will say that people should avoid the drive thru as every time I've gone thru it I've gotten dry/stale ribs.

  • Bryan K.

Pulled pork: some flavor, little dry, and doesn't melt in your mouth. Brisket (chopped): had a hint of smoke flavor, a tad bit on the dry side Half Chicken: smoky flavor, semi-tender, rubbery skin, and small portion BBQ sauce: sweet and savory with a little flare (based on their hot bbq) Beef ribs: oven baked, dry, and stuck to the bone Service was typical for an OK establishment--little on the clueless side, slow, yet nice. They still have not figured out that Budweiser/Miller/Coors is only something you offer to that houseguest that won't leave. Decor: Modern, clean and a Good drinking environment, well, what isn't!

Good food in large portion. Yes, good BBQ is in town. I enjoy the food here because it allows you to order family styles. My family usually chooses one of the family options. "We ate, we packed our To-Go box, we rubbed our bellies, we were one happy family."

Will NEVER GO TO STEVES RIB AGAIN! Tonight, my husband & I went to grab dinner there (since we needed to go to the grocery store), and were at the table for a good 10 minutes before being acknowledged. Then, the waitress goes to a table that came quite a while AFTER us, and when she finally comes to us, doesn't crack a smile or anything and says "what do you want to drink?". We both tell her and she turns around and walks away. Comes back later and slams the drinks down on the table and walks away. I was ready to leave at that point, but my OVERLY PATIENT husband said to wait. So, we wait.. and wait... and she walks up and doesn't apologize or is friendly at all and says "what do you want to order?". We tell her our orders and my husband asked for a couple of straws. She just walks away. A few minutes later, comes to our table, THROWS OUR STRAWS AT US, doesn't say a word, whirls around and walks away. I WAS LIVID! We got up to leave and tell the people up front we're out and go to tell the "manager" about this fantastic experience, and she (looking an all of 16 years old) says she is sorry and will reseat us in another section. REALLY?! Your person THREW THINGS AT US and you think we still want to eat here and spend our money with you?! Wow. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!

The food here is decent, but twice in a row we had horrible wait times when sitting down to eat in the restaurant. Even delicious baked potatoes can't make me want to wait a half hour to get my drink!

This is the 3rd time I've been. First in a couple of years. I just had a couple of ribs without sauce and Texas toast. Ribs were great without sauce. Just took it to go since I was working. This place has been good every time.

I've had Steve's Rib twice at catered parties, both times I remember as wonderful. My family is big BBQ people and we decided to head to this Steve's Rib to meet my parents (we live in NW OKC, they live in East Edmond). We get there, are seated quickly on the patio (we wanted). Weather was perfect. We ordered food for our toddler so he could eat ASAP, it came out quickly, he loved it. We waited about 30 minutes to order (just taking our time enjoying the day) and at that point our waitress informs us ribs will not be available for another hour b/c their broiler went down overnight (something to that affect) but everything else is available. Coming to a place called Steve's Rib most of us were planning to order ribs. Why was this not brought to our attention when we walked in, when we were seated, when our waitress got our drink order or at any point over the thirty minutes we sat around before ordering?? Very disappointing. I understand problems are going to happen, just disappointed with the way they handled it (or lack of handling). No real apology, we waited quite a while for a check so we could leave and try some where else and never got a to go box for our son's food (after we asked, twice) we ended up wrapping it in our napkins.

Steve's has some real new competition in town in the BBQ Chop Shop on N May. I still love the sauce at Steve's, but they're so damn proud of themselves that the prices just keep shooting up. I liked the way that Steve's used to be when it was a sort of cult hit in its original (tiny) location.

Steve's Rib is a really good place to eat in Edmond. The service was great. I was there with a party of 7 and she answered all of our questions and was really pleasant to everyone. I ordered the brisket sandwich which was quite tasty. The meat was a little bit on the bland side, but the sauce helped bring some flavor. The fries were fine, but nothing special. I also had a cup of the buttermilk cobbler, which I had never heard of, but the waitress said was her favorite. Several of us had the cobbler and it was really good. It tasted more like bread pudding, but still quite good. I wish the tea wasn't Lipton, but it was. All-in-all a really good meal that I would eat again.

Decent smoked selection. Polish sausage is best. Dine in is busy and sometimes slow. Great patio if you can get a seat out back.

My husband and I have been eating Steve's chopped BBQ sandwiches since he started in a little kiosk inside Homeland. He's grown to a beautiful restaurant with a great bar, big TVs, and friendly wait staff. I love their hot sauce, fries, and beans. The Super Spud with chopped beef is enough for two meals. We always pick up Steve's when we're bringing dinners for celebrations or sympathy. Also, a pound of chopped mixed with their sauce to put on crackers is great for watch parties!

Ate at Steve's Ribs last night for the first time with a large group of family. The restraint itself is decent. The staff was friendly and always kept my drink full. I had the half rack of ribs dry rubbed with mashed taters, okra & Texas toast on the side. The okra was ok & the mashed potatoes were dry & only room temperature. My ribs were fairly good though. Not a lot of flavor but good for the price. Everyone else was happy with their food. I'd try it again.

I eat at Steve's every couple of months and it sometimes it's better than others. This time, on 3/21, it was great. I ordered the Braised Half-Slab with steak fries and beans. The ribs were as good as I've had at Steve's- not falling off the bone but just the right amount if pull. Great flavor. Steak fries are always good and beans are ok. Wife had the chicken. She's pregnant so everything is a bit off for her lately taste-wise so we'll just say it was good! My little one gad the turkey plate and ate every bite which says a lot.

We want with a large group on a Saturday night and were seated quickly. I had the catfish platter, which was melt-in-the-mouth delicious! I tasted someone else's ribs and they were also wonderful. Our waiter Micha was very personable, and after a few hiccups, served us perfectly! We had a great evening. The next time I'm in the area, I hope to go again!
