Great food and service. Fajita meat was very tender and the serving size was more than I could handle. Highly recommend this to anyone with a big appetite.

Stopped on the way through town for lunch. Got the fajita quesadilla served grilled. Came with guac and sour cream. Great food portions for the price, tasty too. The bathrooms are luxurious. Fast service. We're in and out and back on the road in 30 minutes.

We ordered Fajita Chicken Taco Salad and Monterey Chicken- chips and cheese dip were complimentary - when Taco salad came it was soaked in cheese dip, very bland (no sour cream or salsa, or guacamole) - chips were average- salsa was pretty good and cheese dip was free thanks to check-in at Yelp- glad it was free- not good at all- Monterey chicken was average - service was good- greeter was nice- we won't be back! Expensive for less than average food...

Service was good. Salsa and queso was good. I had the Monterey chicken which was ok, parts of it was a little tough.

Chicken Fajita Nachos! Chicken is salty but combined with the cheese and other stuff it's good!

I won't be back! This is the third time I have been to Salita's and this last visit was actually the best, but still not so great! I am a huge quesadilla fan, so the first time I ate there (about 4 years ago) that is what I ordered. It looked and tasted like they put unseasoned chicken and cheese between two tortilla and threw it in the microwave. The second time, about 2 years later, I again ordered the quesadillas, hoping that they had improved. No luck! Same bland chewy mess! How hard is it to season the meat and toss it on the grill? This last time we had a lunch for a co-worker who is going out on Maternity leave. We reserved a table so we could get in, eat and get back to work on time. We were seated right away and the server (who never gave us her name) got our drinks right out and took or order. It took forever to get the food and they really weren't that busy. The menus were in need of a good wipe down and the floor was sticky under the table. Oh, and watch out for the chairs! They are on rollers and our pregnant mommy almost took a spill! When the food came out, they guy set it on a table behind us and went back into the kitchen. Then the server came over with another tray and started handing things out. I ordered the combo fajitas that were actually quite good but had to request and pay extra for guacamole and there was no cheese at all. For the price, the quality of the food isn't there and the cleanliness in the dining area is substandard. I don't even want to know what the kitchen looks like!

Situated on the main drag of Durant, Oklahoma, Salita's looks fun from the outside with separate entrances for the restaurant and companion bar, Saluter's. With a Tex-Mex selection of burgers and enchiladas, the menu is likewise fun, including dinners such as Labor Inducing Tacos, Mark's Mess and Popeye (you guessed it, that last one involves spinach. I'm not sure what the first one involves.) There is a pretty fair selection of the usual, various combination plates, fajitas, quesadillas, etc. I went with the El Marco - two enchiladas and a taco. Service was fast, polite and seating on the patio provided a nice view of the sunset and passing traffic. The taco was okay - sort of like Taco Bell with slightly better meat and trimmings. The enchiladas didn't fare much better; same type of pasty ground beef and a stick of jack cheese in the enchiladas. The bland refried beans and taste-free rice actually elevated the meal somewhat. On the margarita scale from 1 to 10; 1 being " this rocks the salsa" to 10 being "Christ Jesus get the taste out of my mouth", it gets a 5. Having said that, I literally didn't finish my meal for fear of bad Taco Bell flashbacks. Thank God for cilantro and guacamole, the condiments that care. There might be more to those comical entree names that meets the eye.

Stopped in based on it being the only restaurant in Durant with a review on Yelp. Upon seeing lots of police cars in the lot, I knew it must be a good restaurant since they eat out a lot and I would think would go to good places. The dish to get is the one they label their best seller, the Fireman's Special, which is either chicken or fajita steak over rice with queso on all of it. Trust me, the queso soaks in to the rice making it so delicious. I'm considering asking local tex mex places to try and make this dish.

In Durant for the weekend visiting Choctaw casino with family and we decided to go out for some Mexican food. After reading some of the other reviews, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. The hostess wasn't very friendly and looked like she wanted to be anywhere but there. However, once we sat down the service picked up substantially. We had someone take our drink orders right away and our waiter came over soon after and was very friendly and accommodating. Chips and salsa was great. I ordered the tacos al carbon which is very basic but I tell you the meat was tender and delicious....not the chewy fajita meat you sometimes get. My wife had the sour cream chicken enchiladas and she said they were fantastic. Everyone at our table was impressed with the food and the service and trust me we are no easy group. If you are ever in town and want to get away from the casino for some great tasting Mexican food....double down on Salitas....it's a sure bet. Oh yeah...don't forget to try the Sopapillas with butter for desert.

I had the sour cream chicken nachos and enjoyed them. Big portions, and a great salsa made it perfect. Give it a try if you're passing through.

Mediocre score for a mediocre restaurant. Been there a few times over the last several years. Primarily when someone I was hanging out with wanted to go. Service is acceptable, food comes in decent portions with no real flavor. Spent a few nights here and there in the bar. Same story though. Usual bar prices for average drinks. Go to Jalepeño's on First Street instead. The service is better, the prices are better, and the food is flavorful.

Not impressed. Service was disgraceful. Fajitas tasted like wood chips.Save your money and go 1 mile west for authentic Mexican at el tapatio or Jalapenos on first street!

My order: Combo plate, Beef Taco, Beef Enchilada, Cheese Enchilda, Rice and Beans. Queso with Beef appetizer. Bland. Everything was piping hot and fresh. This food had so little flavor that I don't think I would want to go back to try anything else! The salsa was acceptable, it had the most flavor of anything on the table. If you like big bland portions, this is your place!

Good food, beats the casino food. Loved the queso. The spinach quesadilla and enchilada is not made with fresh spinach but was good. Staff was fun and very helpful...get the quesadilla grilled. Oh but it is an extra 50 cents

NOT GOOD! No respectable Mexican food restaurant has Pace Salsa, oh but they do and they are willing to offer it to you. I was just not impressed with their salsa nor their food.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
