Some of the best Mexican food I have ever eaten.

Good service and food. The tamales were house made amazing! They don't skimp on the cheese or guacamole which is really appreciated. I wouldn't call it bland, especially the cheese enchiladas, quesadillas (go deluxe or fajita style) and tamales. The steak was so tender. The guacamole was tasty. Oh the refried beans were the best!!!! The chili con carne gave everything a wonderful flavor and the steak in the quesadilla was so good it didn't need anything. Adults didn't like the queso but the kids did. The best part was the sopapillas, they were the BEST ever! I would give it a 4 because I didn't care for the queso salsa and sour cream sauces, but everything else was so good it deserves 5 stars. :-)

Do not waste your time or money here. First, the restaurant is full of flies. It is absolutely disgusting. There is a side door that for some reason, they leave propped open. It was hot, sticky and gross. Second, if you are a vegetarian, you will leave hungry. I ordered tacos and asked them to sub the beef with avocado. She told me they would have to upcharge the tacos. As in, charge me for the beef I wasn't eating and the avocado I requested. This made 2 veggie tacos $12. Third, the service is awful. They are rude and slow. Worst dining experience I've had in a long time.

We ate here passing through, and I have mixed feelings about them Being from southeast Texas, I have eaten Mexican food at dozens of places, and am basing my review off of my personal preferences. There is complimentary chips, salsa and queso. The chips and salsa were decent, but the queso was runny and tasted like it had chicken stock or water in it to thin it out. Most Mexican restaurants I go to don't have free queso, so I can overlook a bit of the quality for this reason. I ordered the aguacaliente burrito, it was chopped fajita meat wrapped in a tortilla with a few veggies and cheese. The flavor was alright, but it was lacking something to keep it all together. The meat simply dell out of the tortilla and I ended up just eating the filling and discarding the tortilla. The biggest perk, was that every meal comes with a free sopapilla. They were light and fluffy, with tons of cinnamon sugar. By far the best part of the meal. The service was good and the restaraunt was clean, even if the bathrooms are cramped and dimly lit.

Fot such a small town we didn't know what we would find, but find ourselves happy with the end result. We sat on the patio. We were served cheese sauce and salsa with some yellow corn chips. I do not recommend the cheese sauce; it had not flavor. Just yellow processed cheese. We enjoyed the kick the salsa gave as you continue to eat. We order the chicken fajitas and tamale dinners. I would not recommend the chicken it was dry and looks like processed marked chicken. We asked the sever to switch to steak and she was happy to comply. Steak was much better. The rice and beans were delicious. The tamales were delicious and authentic. I would highly recommend the tamales.

Excellent Tamales and Rellenos! The Mexixan spiced beans were a nice alternative to bland puréed pintos of other area joints. Worth our drive from Pauls Valley!

Love the food..my suggestion they have a pick 2 or a pick 3 so you can try several entrees to pick your favorite. Love the salsa and queso. Highly recommended.

Good food, outstanding service. Quaint setting on downtown building. Save room for the sopapilla!

Went for lunch today, the fourth of July. They were understandably understaffed and yet still managed an excellent job. Gets five stars for service, four stars for food as it was all delicious and all terribly unhealthy. Would visit again just not often.

Food was bland. We ordered the beef burrito and is was nothing but bland meat inside with some cheese sauce on top. The cheese sauce was not the normal queso cheese. It was runny and very bland. Almost thought it was a soup! If you have the rice and beans please note it is not refried beans!! Chips were good and service was good, just not the food.

Family owned and operated...a bit of good ole small town cookin' Standard Mexican fair, but the best place to eat Mexican in town. Comes with free salsa...AND QUESO...so just worth the trip for that. If you are in town, this is the place to go (its usually very busy)

Did I catch them on a bad day? Bland, bland, bland. The rice and beans both were in serious need of some salt (please, restaurant owners, don't be like Mayor Bloomberg. Let us worry about our own health and use a little salt!). In fact, this was the worst rice I have had anywhere. And the beef fajita chimichanga needed more meat and more kick. The meat inside was tender enough, just very little flavor. But don't call it chili sauce if there is no chili powder in it. My wife just had "cheese sauce" and the salsa. The "cheese sauce" was pretty good, but she said was nothing more than chopped tomoato with some onion. Absolutely no flavor in that, either. If this is the best, I'll just suppress my urge for Mexican food until I can go to T*ed's in OKC or I get south of the Red River.

A gem. The chicken enchiladas had plenty of white meat. This is top notch standard Mexican. By that I mean that it's not the food you get in Mexico but the stuff Americans expect, nothing wrong with that but that's what it is.

A routine stop for us on the way in from the lake nearly every weekend. Never gets old. Great food, cold beer, goes great on the outdoor patio after the sun goes down.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
