Do you like cheap Chinese food? Do you like to eat a LOT OF FOOD? Are you tired of those pesky food critics taking the fun out of your affordable night out? Then come to Hunan. It is tasty, cheap, the decor delightfully bizarre, and you will have fun! Are you a fan of pesky food critics? Do you say things like "pine cone" and "mousse" in the same sentence? Do you have no social life outside of debating which chef is the most locavore minded? Then do not come to Hunan. Let me preface this by saying I am not from Bartlesville, or Oklahoma, or the midwest. If you are a food snob then you would probably like where I come from. I sure do. But then, if you are a food snob or any kind of snob who has found themselves in Bartlesville, then A) why are you here, and B) you should probably get a plane ticket back to where you came from. THIS IS A CHINESE BUFFET. IN TORNADO ALLEY. Hunan of Bartlesville has its upsides, and they are great. Stick with this combo for certain cheap-Chinese-food satisfaction from the buffet: grilled chicken (in a surprisingly addictive black pepper bbq sauce), sweet and sour soup (totally vegetarian, and a truly classic s'n's flavor), Szechuan green beans (garlicky and tasty). Avoid the lo mein if you are a Chinese noodle fan; it looks and takes like linguini with mystery salt sauce on it. But it's passable if you add some broccoli chicken to it. The potstickers were a disappointment in terms of potstickers, but for a buffet they were great! Dipping sauce, my friends. That's what it's all about. I also have to give them props for their totally weird Dutch/Chinese decor. Your brain will be confused and then happily sated by the sight of a reproduction of a Jan Vermeer and then a bobbing luck cat ALL AT THE SAME TIME.

Don't order delivery from this place.. Lol!! It took an hour and a half and they had the order incomplete. It's happened the last 2 times I ordered. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt the first time but after it happened the second time..." I'm out."

As Chinese buffets go it is above average but not the best in town.

Disgusting! Extremely cheap buffet with low quality food. All the meats are chewy, and the fish was indigestible. Avoid at all cost. Never again.

Very limited Chinese food in town. This is just one of those places. I've heard they got a cock roach problem. I wont eat inside but will order the food to go or delivery. The people answering the phone barely speak english and its pretty frustrating.

There are numerous posts on Bartlesville classifieds that this place is full of bugs. One person even posted a photo at the restaurant with said roach crawling out of food. Do not go here.

Most of the food is good. Some obviously buffet line filler, or decoration...I'm 6 foot, 190 lbs, average man. I dined at the buffet about once a month...usually alone. Apparently I ate too much seafood...it's delicious. At my last visit I was told by the management the next time I dine I will be paying double the normal price because I eat too much of the seafood. I responded, "those who eat very little are not charged half price". At that point the manager had a hissy-fit, speaking an Oriental language to me...i assume profanity with her tone and procody. I was told to never return. Go to another buffet, as she pointed in the direction of their competition. So..if you eat an average amount or less this restaurant has good food and they treat you well. Though be warned, do not eat what they consider to be too much or you too may be told to pay double normal price..or to not return. Note that being clean..by washing your hands between trips to the buffet bar is not recommended as the manager usually followed me to the dingy washroom to see, what I became to realize, to see if I was vomiting my food. I was not. I was washing my hands. I understand they own several restaurants in NE Oklahoma. I don't know if this is the policy for all their establishments as they refused to allow me to visit with the owner by phone. But..yea..fried frog legs...peel and eat shrimp..most everything is tastey...just be warned...they take note of what and how much you enjoy.

Ambiance/Decor: 5/5 I have no idea what is happening here. The outside looks like the most stereotyped carnival ride for China you have ever seen. The inside has old pictures of Europe, maybe, or at least some white folks with wheat and farms and old bridges. I really don't get it. There's ample seating with lots of big cushy booths so you can slide your enormous belly in without any discomfort and you will have an enormous belly because... Kitchen: 3/5 Alright, it's a super buffet. This means there are, at least, twenty different items to choose from. So you know about 3/4s of it isn't going to be very good. And this stands true. There were probably nine different chicken dishes - one was good. But it was really, really good. They called it "grilled chicken" but it was more like a pepper chicken. The pot stickers, egg rolls, and other apps were all previously frozen and tasted like it. But you can eat like fifty of each for seven bucks (dinner buffet) so why are you even complaining? The soups were decent and they have weird non-Chinese stuff like some sort of Mexican chicken, fried chicken, fried okra, and some gnarly deserts. All in all, I saw the cook bring out fresh food several times during the dinner hour so at least it's relatively fresh - but it sure is hit or miss. Service: 3/5 We saw our 'server' three times, maybe. She took our 'order' (3 buffets please) faster than I could imagine but our dirty plates were cleared regularly and I was offered plenty of water which is good because I needed it to wash down all the MSG. It's like five bucks for a lunch buffet, seven and change for dinner. For those prices you can put out pretty much anything and as long as the place is relatively clean and the food is digestible. This place is better than that, so I'll give it four stars due to the poor earlier reviews.

This place is disgusting! The food tasted like it had set on the buffet for a week. Nothing was fresh...NOT exagerating! Do NOT eat here! Go to Szechuan or Ocean China.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
