Good food, decent service and reasonable wait times on anything you order. Try their daily specials for the best experience, they are fresh. Make 100% sure you order their fried ice cream, its easily the best I have ever had, ever. Its an actual Chimichanga, deep fried and is served with honey, its simply incredible. Their Strawberry Daiquiris are super good as well if you can handle how sweet they are. Downsides would be the price, its more expensive than it should be for most items on the menu and its kind of moody (for the lack of a better term) atmosphere wise. Sorta dark and solemn inside, you'll understand when you walk in. Their hours kind of suck, make sure you check with them before making plans because they open late most evenings and are closed on random nights. There is a bar side and a dining room side, parking is ample in the lot in front. This place has been a local fixture since I was a small child (over 30 at the time of this review) and I have never had a bad experience.

The food is usually pretty good but they are over priced. It's not worth as much money as they are letting on, believe me. However, they offer decent service and have a nice atmosphere. I've tried probably three fourths of the menu by now and all of it has been pretty good in my experience.

The reviews here are very funny to me, the service from David has always been excellent as has the food. Susan always greets each person as they enter the restaurant and makes everyone feel welcome. People in Zanesville dont seem to understand the upscale casual vibe and food that doesnt come with a wrapper and picked up thru a window. The fact that the last review was even posted on Yelp is laughable....the teview was on the fact the lady tore a blouse on a coat hook ...the coat hooks are very high..so seems highly unlikely.

I really wanted to like this place. People growing up in Zanesville seem to have fond memories of Zak's apparent glory days. I have no idea what happened between now and then, but I'd rather eat at Taco Bell than suffer through a night at Zak's ever again. I've been there about five times now. I know, right? What's wrong with me? The first time my date was trying to impress me. He's one of those "fond memories" people I mentioned. I'll be honest with you - I was so drunk that first time that even if I could remember the night, I probably would have thought it was awesome no matter what. It's been downhill since then. Each consecutive time we visit, the service and the food is a little worse. 1) The waiters probably have some sort of awesome break room they go hide in for half an hour at a time - that's the only thing I can imagine where they disappear to for large quantities at a time. The first couple times there, they were ... eh, "reasonable". I chalked it up to trying their best under stressful circumstances. One time was actually a very busy night. The past two times (maybe people of Zanesville are realizing how awful Zak's is) the place was a ghost town and the waiters were still missing. The waiters are always very nice - I'll give them that. 2) The food. It's not ...... uh, horrible? It's okay. Mediocre. I'd say it compares to some mediocre food chain quality. But can we say price inflation? A two person dinner, appetizer, drinks and no dessert came out to about $70. I expect something much better for that much. - I ordered some little steak medallion thing, with asparagus and hollandaise sauce. It took two hours for the food to get there. The waiter disappeared, came back about 45 minutes later and "doublechecked" our order (IE: he forgot to put it in). The six other people dining with us then had to wait another hour and 25 minutes for their food just because they screwed up our order. (When their food finally arrived, it was plenty obvious the plates had been sitting under a heating lamp for the duration). - The steak medallions were tough, dry, chewy. There were FOUR asparagus spears. Four. FOUR! The hollandaise sauce was nowhere to be found, instead it was topped with butter. The ONLY good thing I have to say about Zak's is that occasionally they have chef special desserts. There was a pistachio-something cheesecake one night that was great, and the lavender blueberry cheesecake was absolutely amazing (but they topped it with pancake syrup or something - that was awful). Our friends were incredibly unimpressed. Only two of them had been to Zak's before, the other four were new and what an awful first impression it was. Last impression for me. I had always chalked up the shitty service to busy nights, but the place was practically empty that night and it was still a miserable experience. I will never return to Zak's again.

We stopped in here one evening while traveling through Ohio and had an excellent meal. The service was great and the food delicious. Stir fry, Madiera Chicken, pasta, salads, drinks: all good!

I haven't eaten here in a while but the blackened chicken there is AMAZING, the service is somewhat slow but the food I've had from here has been wonderful and the menu is much different (in a good way) than many other restaurants that you find in Zanesville. They have a good variety of dishes

The food here is gross. I ordered a cheeseburger because I was trying to be safe. The meat was overcooked and the fries were cold. Our waitress seemed as if she took the short bus to school everyday.

Went to Zak's once and I quickly noticed something. Variety seemed to be the theme here. I looked around and saw chips and salsa on one table and soy sauce on another. With so much to choose from my girlfriend and I settled on a stir fry and a Jalisco dish. Neither were any good and our waitress ignored us to the point where I had to get her to bring the check just so we could leave this horrid establishment. This seemed to be a place to be seen rather than good place to eat. Don't bother eating here
