I really enjoy this place when I'm craving Mexican food! My only complaint is that I wish the bar side of the restaurant was bigger. My husband and I always sit on the bar side because usually there aren't kids on that side as opposed to the other side where all the table are, but the bar area is so small with just a few tables you have to wait for one to open if you don't get there at the right time.

Visited on a weekday at lunch. Had to ask a staffer to clear a table for us. We'd been shopping, so headed to the bathroom to wash hands. Um....where is the soap? How are the employees washing their hands? Returned to the table and waited about 10 minutes - no one ever came over to offer menu or drink. Got up and walked out.

I don't know why I haven't popped in for a beer after work to skip the rush hour traffic. I've been here for lunch several times, and they've always been fast - no matter the group size - and the food is always tasty, and the staff is always attentive. It's like a more flavorful chipotle, with better beer options and a larger menu. I always get the rice and bean bowl (with chicken) and add their sauces (screw the sissy sauce). Try it, you might like it! Their patio is small, but gets just the right amount of sunshine that makes it perfect for a lunch break, which is ironic, since their patio is too small for large groups - but inside, their structure/food prep seems to serve large groups well.

I've been wanting to try Yabo's sine it opened but just never got around to it. Last week, I was dropping my car for service at Boyd's Goodyear which is just across the street and decided it was time to finally go to Yabo's. My only regret is that it took me this long to give them a try. We started with an order of tortilla chips and salsa - very reasonably priced at $2. My wife found the salsa to be a little too spicy for her taste -- although I thought it was excellent (my wife doesn't like stuff as spicy as I do). Anyway - I went back to the counter to ask if I could order a side of the queso dip and the gal at the counter said -- "no problem" and promptly bought us a side of the queso dip at no charge. It was much more to my wife's liking. For dinner -- my wife opted for 2 tacos and I went for the shredded pork version of the Bodacious Burrito. I ordered it "wet" which means it's covered with a red salsa, lettuce, sour cream, etc. The burrito was exceptionally good and I would definitely order it again. And it was definitely "bodacious" meaning it was a very healthy portion. My wife's tacos were also excellent - she opted for the soft shell version and the pork filling. Tacos come in either hard shell or soft shell version and both the burrito and the tacos come with your choice of fillings -- beef, pork, chicken, veggie- and there are a variety of tacos. Again - I regret to not having tried Yabo's sooner. It's a great place for good, fresh and very reasonably priced Mexican. I'll be back soon.

WOW! This place is fantastic when it comes to quality vs price. So why the 3 star review? Two things: A) The variety of the menu and B) The size of the bar area. So why dine at Yabo's? They have some of the best tacos I've ever had in this part of the United States. Their wide variety of sauces will compliment any taco you decide to go with. The last time I dinned here I had the fish, chicken, and steak tacos. All three were cooked to perfection with the perfect combo of meat and toppings. This place has gained much popularity over the years and really needs to take over other businesses in the shopping center in order to retain a higher volume of customers. The service is exceptional, where the staff makes you feel at home. They also get to know the customers, which is an important part when running a small local business. Just like its counterpart before, I can see Yabo's either expanding into the other rental spaces, or finding a new local just like Giammarco's did. Looking forward to seeing this business grow for years to come.

So, we finally found a place in Columbus where my husband LIKES the ground beef tacos -- minus the feta. I thought this place kind of lacked in ambiance, but it's also a sports bar -- and like a cantina. After living in Austin for 4 years, my husband and I have been pretty disappointed with alot of the Mexican food that we have found up here. My husband's judge of a Mexican joint -- they have to serve him a good CRISPY ground beef taco that DOES NOT fall apart in the first bite. We had a plethora of these types of places in Texas. Here, not so much. Even many of the places I have found on Yelp have ended up being a bit disappointing due to this fact. Yabos is NOT FANCY at all. It's a bit lack luster in the interior and the booths have giant rips in them etc. However, they have a decent grasp on the Tex Mex thing. The food is of decent quality (the ground beef and the pork) and the salsas were pretty tasty (in my opinion). It's right down the street from our house, which makes it VERY convenient. It's not cheap, but it's not much more expensive than any place else around (including Wendy's anymore)...... They also had a decent kids meal that was actually HUGE for our 6 year old daughter. Thursday is $1 domestic cans, and I can't shy away from a $1 Miller High Life and Mexican food. Wish they had Lone Star, but really -- High Life or PBR are my friends when eating food like this, so it's totally cool! We will be back for sure.

Hello friends. Is it Yabo time? If you're reading this the answer is "Yes!" The good: -They keep a sauce called fire breather behind the counter. It is super spicy and delicious but you have ask for it. - The service has always been good, especially on the bar side. - Great craft beer selection. - The Baja Tacos are really good. The not so good: - I would love to have table service. Right now you have to order at the counter. - The seating (inside and out) is pretty tight.

We have been here three times before, and have enjoyed it, but this visit was horrible and we probably will never come back. On all other previous visits, we were asked if we wanted flower or corn tortillas. Not this time. We ended up with flower ones by default and they were ice cold. It was gross. We also ordered guacamole and chips. The guacamole was very bland, had a slight brownish color and tasted old. To top it off, we ordered drinks. We wanted fresh ice tea. The dispencer was missing, so I asked about it. He said, it was brewing. Well...it brewed during our dining and wasn't ready until we were set to leave. It is mostly the fault of them having only one employee running the entire floor, bar and register.

I really liked Yabo's and will be returning in the future. We really enjoyed the "Chips and Trio" including salsa, guac, and queso dip w/ yummy seasoned tortilla chips! We got a variety of tacos with different meats and tried the different sauces with them. Overall, I liked the chicken the best, and thought it had the most flavor. We really liked the Mosquito bites, which are fried mini meat and cheese stuffed burritos! The staff was friendly, and were very helpful when ordering for the first time. The flavors were fresh, and the prices were just right.

I was craving shrimp tacos for lunch yesterday and this was the only place close that has them cheap and fast. I'm not a fan of the U.A. location, but I thought I would try here. I was only getting carryout anyway. This location is laid out better and it's less confusing. There are two entrances side-by-side. The bar on one side and the restaurant on the other. I went to the counter and ordered 3 Baja Tacos with grilled shrimp, hold the feta. The young lady at the counter was friendly. I was given a buzzer so I sat down at an empty table to wait. Within 10 minutes I was out the door and headed back to work. The tacos were pretty good and satisfied my craving. They aren't the best but will do for a fix.

We love this place. Chips and Queso are a must. I've had most of the items on the menu. They always have craft beers on tap. Their home-made sauces are great, try them all. We've watched Browns and Buckeye games here as well. Parking is a little tight however it's a short walk from the street or the lot across the street. Best Taco and Burrito's around.

Took the family here yesterday for lunch. I've had better Mexican food from street vendors. This was disappointing as we had a great experience just a couple months ago. Where to begin: I had the Baja Tacos. The ground beef was so salty, I ended up scraping it off just to finish the tacos. I ordered a side of refried beans. They were bland; but worse, they were burnt with crunchy bits throughout. My wife ordered the burrito. She had to scrape off the chicken for being extremely salty as well. The rice in her burrito was very hard from being undercooked. She threw it away. My 17 month old son got a bean taco - black beans on a tortilla - that's all - nothing else. What!? His corn tortilla chips were coated in a brown/orange, salty powder that was so thick I couldn't eat them, let alone my toddler. Not to mention they were stale. Our service at the counter was decent. But later we heard the girl mention they were short on plastic baskets. So she came to our table and asked if she could have ours. So we pulled our food out of the baskets and gave them to her and then finished eating. Didn't mind so much; just thought it was unprofessional. Overall, I am very disappointed with this experience as we had a great experience just a couple months earlier. I hope this was just a fluke and maybe they had their second string cooks on duty or something. But the food was atrocious. We left and ate at the mall at Polaris.

I cannot get enough of Yabo's Tacos. The food is delicious. Occasionally I will order a burrito, but I usually get the rice and bean bowl- sometimes chicken, sometimes grilled fish. I have a friend who always gets the salad. The sauces at the table are an added bonus. When with a group, the chips and queso or chips and guacamole are a nice treat but can be too much food for me when dining alone or with only one other person. They also have a fantastic beer selection, both craft and traditional (or as they call it, throwback). They have a dining room (order your food at the register) and a bar (the bartender will take your order). When the weather is nice, I do like to sit on the patio.

We stopped at Yabo's when we couldn't find a particular Mexican restaurant we had gone out for. I wasn't overly impressed with Yabos. The service was very good but the food was just average and I found nothing special about the food or atmosphere. Yabo's has a limited menu of soft tacos, burritos, quesadillas and salad, some appetizers (chips, mini fried burritos, nacho dip) and two specialties Massive Yabo and Big Sloppy Yabo. They also serve alcoholic drinks. We ordered chips and queso, 3 soft tacos w/ pork and a burrito w/pork. I had the burrito. It was bland and so I tried the 3 sauces that were at the table (the fourth listed on the menu was absent at our table an the waiter didn't offer the missing sauce) none of which were remarkable but each did add some flavor that the burrito was lacking. The Strawberry Habanero was sweet and not reminiscent at all of habanero pepper. It had no heat as I expected. I think it would make a better salad dressing than taco or burrito sauce. The Serrano Lime sauce was tangy but I didn't discern the lime (and I love fresh lime). Again, no heat of the pepper as expected and again might make a good salad dressing. Both of these were thin and dripped through the burrito and out the bottom making my hand, arms and lap wet (outdoor table was an open weave metal). Lip Smackin' Chipotle sauce was essentially BBQ in both appearance and taste, sweet and tangy, definitely nothing at all like a chipotle sauce. All three sauces were tasty but downright disappointing. On to the Chips and Queso. Chips were a strange combination of what seemed like mass produced, bagged chips with a MexiCali seasoning sprinkled heavily on only a few of the chips.. The MexiCali seasoning tasted like the seasoning used on fast food curly fries. The queso had good flavor and consistency. This is a place I might expect to do well on a college campus and might work well for families with kids since we found nothing at all spicy other than the seasoning on the few chips and it's inexpensive with respectable portion size. I Wouldn't make a special trip to go there but might opt for it if Chipotle's line is longer than I feel like standing in. Yabo's is nothing to write home about. I give it 2.5 stars for middle of the road fare.

This was a difficult review to write. I made the mistake of reading other people's reviews after I ate. This left me second guessing myself, wondering was I at the same restaurant as everyone else?! I'm not saying the food is God awful, but it's not real good either. Definitely not authentic Mexican. This is in between a grocery store boxed taco kit and Taco Bell. First, I don't think the chips are made fresh, I'm willing to bet money they are bagged big bulk chips. Yes, they have a sprinkle of taco seasoning which helps, but they were not even close to being warm or showed any signs of being deep fried! The sauces that came with the chips - salsa, queso and guacamole, weren't, again I must say, not horrible, but not great either. Salsa was equivalent to jar salsa, guacamole was actually okay, queso was meh. This mediocre trio cost 7 bucks! Over priced for the amount, usually chips are on the house, not here. Next up was the tempera fish taco. The crispy shell, once again,I think was out of a box. The actual two fish nuggets per taco were tasty, just not enough. The amount of lettuce and cheese was laughable! If I was lucky, maybe a tsp. of cheese was on my taco. The grand finale that took things over the edge was the so called sangria. Now this was horrible. This had to be a mixture of the cheapest wine you can buy with.... I'm not sure. I was going to send this back but since our waiter never made it back to our booth,(yep,he never came back to see how everything was) I just said forget it, never again! This was my fourth visit, the first was good, and well the other three not so good. As far as the atmosphere, it's okay, has a nice neighborhood feel to it. There are plenty of t.v.s, separate bar area, and the owner has in previous visits come out and greet customers, that is nice. So, this gets two stars, its not horrible, it's like a knock off version of real Mexican food. Matter of fact, I don't think any Mexicans work there. Maybe that explains things! But if you want the real deal, you have to go elsewhere. This gets a big fat meh!

I love mexican/tex mex, hubby is over it. Meet Yabo's; he is surprisingly a fan! I haven't been inside, my hubby is taxed with getting carryout. And this is our go-to place. He likes to order and then stop in for a beer while they prepare. Usually a 20 min wait on the weekend evenings. To me this is better than Chipotle bc you can get smaller portions and a little more variety. So far we've only tried the tacos; I liked the shredded beef in a soft tortilla. The spicy beef in a hard taco is more traditional taco. If you eat-in or carryout you also have an option of a variety of hot sauces. You have spicy like a Strawberry haberno and wussy like the lime one. We always get a small sample and use for chips and tacos.

Came here at the suggestion of a friend and was pleasantly surprised! Service was speedy, menu options were plentiful and they offer a full bar to boot! I ordered the tempura fish tacos and they were delish. All the ingredients were so fresh and I love that they use feta cheese, just how it's done on the West Coast. I also ordered chips and guac (the guacamole is made fresh to order!)... Beware: the chips and guac should be split - the portion is massive! I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu. From what I've tasted so far, Yabo's is better than Chipotle (and far less fattening).

Went here today at lunch and got the shredded pork quesidillas w a side of guac. Overall our service was great and quick. There are a few straggling spiders outside on the patio so be weary of the possibility of extra protein if you're not paying attention. Food was okay. The bowls my coworkers/friends had looked good and kinda wish I would've got that instead. The quesidillas were a bit mushy and would rather see the outer tortilla much more stable and crispy. Maybe too much cheese? Guac was pretty good...could've used a smidge more salt but overall pretty good. I'll go back again to try something different. It has potential but I think what I ordered needs to have some work on being a bit better.

After spending some time in the area, my girlfriend and I were starving, and we were both in the mood to go to town on some tacos. To say it simply, I'm so glad she chose this place. While the interior was very much plain, and parking still crowded (those bastard parking lots), the food greatly made up for it. To say it simply once more: $2 tacos! Each taco had fresh vegetables and salsa, and one could get them with meat for only 50 cents more. If that wasn't enough, there were several bottles of hot sauce at every table, and while they seemed to lack spice, they also added another profile of flavor to the mix. Perhaps most impressively is that, in addition to eating tasty tacos that were fairly priced, we left satisfied, and didn't feel like our guts were going to bust, which is the best type of full in our books. While it isn't a restaurant for the most formal occasion, it certainly isn't a dive, and provides unbelievably delicious food for low prices.

I still stand by what I said, but I was able to successfully get my dressing IN my wrap (although basically had to ask the guy at the counter for a favor in order to get it done). This and because I have to face the fact that I visit, on average, more than once a week, I felt I had to upgrade my rating to four stars. It's still not the best food you'll eat, but it has me coming back again and again.

Best tacos/burritos in Columbus! My husband and I were looking for a great mexican place for dinner and I found Yabo's Tacos here on Yelp! I'm so glad we did! Chips and salsa were tasty. Everything we tried was awesome! I can't wait to go back!

I've been going to Yabos since their soft opening. I would have given it a 4 then but my last several visits in the last year have convinced me that the franchise mindset has settled on the owners and it's now resulting in corner cutting. The feta cheese was so much more plentiful as was the cilantro in the earlier days. The guacamole had less onions and appeared fresher. Its sort of a weird combination of sexualized servers in a bar atmosphere with all of the families with young children. We will certainly go back from time to time but it's lost the appeal for us.

Wow! That was the best, tastiest, freshest burrito I've ever had. Granted, I ordered the Big Sloppy Yabo and man, was it good. What I really liked about it (aside from the obvious - white queso) was the fact that, for once, I could actually taste the crispy peppers and onions inside of the burrito. There is only one other Columbus Mexican restaurant I've been to (and I'm sure there are probably more that I haven't) where fresh, healthy ingredients are used... and you can TELL when you bite into your food. There's a difference between a restaurant that "says" they use fresh stuff and one that does. The other two people who came with me loved their food as well and this is a place that I'll DEFINITELY frequent. I hope they open one in Dublin at some point. Between Sesame Sea Asian Bistro and Yabo's Tacos, I'd have the best, freshest Asian and Mexican fare in my back yard!

The Yabo is like an upscale Chipotle with a lot more selection, tastes a bit fresher, and access to additional alcoholic drinks. The employees were very friendly and bent over backwards to make sure everything was fine. I definitely will go again to try some of the other items and experience the additional sauces. The downside is that alcoholic beverages need to be purchased at a different location and paid separately from the food. The Margaritas and drinks are very small for the cost. The specialty drinks come in rock glasses so not a great value. The food is very tasty, and fresh.

I will confess that one of the main reasons I like this place is the location. I live near the chain infested Polaris Parkway, so I decided to stop into this delicious pace and ended up going there three times in one week! It has a nice bar with plenty of TVS around the entire restaurant. They have simple fresh Mexican such as tacos, burritos, quesadillas, bowls, etc. and everything is under $6!! It is a great happy hour, watch the game, go for dinner, go for lunch (pretty much an anytime stop!) I got the quesadilla the first time, it is was a small portion- just an average meal. The second time I went we split some nachos, then I got a burrito (they are big!). The last time I went I ordered a pulled pork, rice, cheesy-ness, amazing thing in a bowl and that was by far my favorite!! This place lets you indulge in yummy Mexican but it is portion controlled and fresh! (which sometimes Mexican restaurants aren't) The owner says they are trying to open up more locations around Columbus soon--- so stay posted for a Yabo near you!

Totally authentic Mexican food? No. Chipotle rehash? No. A mix of both those this is what Yabos could easily identify itself. Ordering is walk up and then taking a seat, yet there is also a bar area. (pro tip, if you sit in the bar area or patio area, it's full service). The food here is excellent, for what it is. Tacos, burritos, quesadillas... all done right and in the Yabos way. Yes just like with any Mexican restaurant there are areas of opportunity. For instance, their red sauce is pretty much Mexican inspired marinara sauce, however the food is almost always spot on. It's decent portions for decent prices. Personally I recommend the Massive Yabo, that said, take a friend as it will feel you both. They also have a beer selection that puts a lot of local restaurants to shame and pretty much crushes any chain restaurant's selections. If you are looking for good Mexican inspired food that fills you up, paired with a great beer, Yabos is your best bet. If you looking to feel like you're in Mexico city in search of a good Mole, go elsewhere.

I heard about Yabo's because I saw an ad for their new location in Upper Arlington. However, a friend and I happened to both be up near Polaris and decided to meet at the original location for lunch (I'm trying to wean her off of large chain restaurants). Although I had scoped out the menu ahead of time, I wasn't sure what to expect in terms of a dining experience. When we walked in there was a counter directly ahead, and to our right a bar where everyone was sitting. I think there was a football game going on now that I think about it. (Yes, I am guilty of not following the Buckeyes' football schedule despite being an OSU grad!) My first thought was that it is kind of like a fast food restaurant, but with a bar. No one was manning the counter, so we awkwardly approached and a guy magically appeared from the back to take our order. I ordered two baja tacos, one with charbroiled chicken on a flour tortilla, and one with grilled shrimp on a corn tortilla, plus a side of rice and corn. My friend ordered some sort of "wet" burrito (I presume she got chicken). She felt dirty when the guy asked her if she wanted her burrito wet. I enjoyed this immensely, and now will only order "wet" burritos. My meal came to around 8 bucks with a drink, which is fantastic! We were handed electronic buzzers, and once they went off we picked up our orders at the pick-up window near the bar (get your silverware here, too!). I was halfway through my chicken taco when I realized there were three sauces on the table and that my taco didn't have any sauces already added. No wonder it was a little boring. I assume that's so you can "pick your own," which is kind of the great part about Yabo's. Everything is fully customizable. I doused my chicken taco in the Serrano Lime sauce and then my nose caught fire. In the most delicious way possible. I was more cautious when I started in on the shrimp taco, and tested the other two sauces before deciding to go with the Chipotle sauce, which is basically like barbecue sauce with chipotle. Brown sugar is the first ingredient. No complaints here. I even added that stuff to my rice, which was in desperate need of flavor. I ended up liking the shrimp/corn tortilla combo the best, but I'm curious to try other combinations here as well. I'm teetering between 3 and 4 stars, because the food was pretty good once I added sauce, but the fast-food-esque dining experience left something to be desired. But since food quality is my ultimate criteria, I'm going with 4. Maybe next time I'll do carry-out and avoid the disturbing childhood flashbacks of eating at Taco Bell before going to see Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace in the theater.

I know it's called Yabo's Tacos and not Yabos Burritos, so they're being honest about what they think they do best, and I should have listened. My carnitas burrito was like a less precisely assembled version of what you can get at any Chipotle. R's tacos were very good, she reports. Perhaps I should have stayed in Yabo's wheelhouse. I do think that $16 for lunch was a bit steep (as others have reported as well.) Who am I kidding, I'll be back for tacos.

Worst. Experience. Ever. To start with, they advertise margaritas. You order one, are charged 5.50 and end up with a cheap crap mix out of a bottle. Terrible service. Rude management and company in general. I couldn't select no stars but that is what this place deserves. Never again.

Yabo's Tacos is amazing dank. To be 100% honest I will drive great lengths to find a great taco and with Yabo's, I don't have to drive to far. First thing that struck me was the decor. It was nice and bright when you walk in with a small counter straight ahead kind of like a fast food joint where you order or you can order at the bar if you walk to the right of the restaurant. The second thing I noticed were the prices. Usually at an authentic mexican taco trailer you can get a taco for $1.25 at Yabo's, you get a taco for $2.00 which is not all the bad as your paying for quality. ALSO a huge plus is 1 DOLLAR RETRO BEER OF THE WEEK!!! This means you get a beer of their choice for a dollar all week. This is a super steal and I took them up on this buck a beer. To be quite honest, I thought the retro beer was good. Anyways on to the food... I got 6 tacos in total and tried the chicken and beef tacos. The meats they use are quality no lie. The chicken was moist and the beef was great as well. The lettuce, pico de gallo and feta cheese combination they put on the tacos complimented them perfect. I cannot wait to go back to Yabo's Tacos I hope it stays in Westerville forever.

TACOS! Alright guys: I have been to a large amount of the fantastic taco trucks in the city. You want authentic Mexican? Go there. You want a Qdoba-style "Mexican" experience that is way more awesome than aforementioned chain or Chipotle? You go to Yabo's Tacos! I love them both, because let's face it, I can enjoy the authentic Mexican this city offers but still crave a Yabo-style or even Taco Bell from time to time. My order has not varied from my first and original order. I must have picked right, or everything on the menu rocks, because it is that good. I get a grilled shrimp taco with a shredded pork quesadilla. The shrimp always has a really nice flavor (I usually steer people towards this item, and all have liked it). The quesadilla is a little more of an acquired taste perhaps. Since it is pulled pork it is pretty greasy, and it is CHEESY, of the real queso kind. Not something I can eat every day, or even every week, but soooo good. Actually, we've also gotten the chips and guac, which I quite like. It's a fairly large order as well...the two of us aren't usually able to finish it. Parking and seating can be an issue if you come during peak hours. They've got both an area where you walk up and order at a counter, then are given a buzzer while you wait, and you choose your own seating. They also have table service, which I've never utilized. You can drink in the counter service area, but must go up to the bar and get your own drinks. The booze isn't cheap...not something I usually indulge in. Go, and try, and enjoy!

I had a great burrito here with slow cooked beef and a delicious sauce on top. The service was good, and I thought they had a great beer selection too! I just wish I lived in this area, or maybe the could open one in the Arena District? There are also nice looking plasma TV's everywhere if you want to watch the big game. The sauces offered at the table were all home made and delicious, but the burrito was very good with the red sauce it came with. Another cool thing is that you can sit at the bar, outside, or tables by the bar and get full service, or sit on the other side and order at the counter. These guys have a great concept, and I hope they open more locations!

I love the concept of this place, but the food's just OK and the prices are too high. First, I am thrilled to have this place in my neighborhood. I love tacos, so having a taco place near the house is a win for me. Also, Yabo's moved into the old Giammarco's Italian restaurant location, and that place was gross, so this is a step-up! The place feels like City BBQ, but with tacos instead of BBQ and with a small bar on the side. Unfortunately, the food is just OK. Tacos are obviously the specialty, and there is a variety of meats to choose from and sauces on the table. But sadly the food came up pretty short on flavor. The many sauces on the table helped minimally. And this food is expensive! I brought my wife, my Mom, and my 5 year-old. Our meal was nearly $50. And that is without booze and at a place with no table service. Pricey! If you want a taco, you should really trek over to Los Gauchos Taqueria on Bethel Road. And if you live in Westerville like me and don't feel like making the drive to Bethel Rd, Chipotle would also be a better choice.

This restaurant is housed in the space formerly occupied by Giammarco Pizza & Pasta. I stopped there last night to gram a quick bite. I ordered two shrimp tacos and a side order of rice. My taco shells were dry and hard, there was an extreme shortage of ingredients on them and even the rice needed some help. I showed it to one of the "cooks" and he put another scoop on it. This is an example of inexperienced white guys trying to run a Mexican restauant. They need to take a few lessons from Cuco's and other Mexican restaurants. I'd even take a taco truck in zero degree weather before I'd come back here again.

There's a party in my tummy! So yummy :) A fresh fish taco and a grilled shrimp taco made my tastebuds tingle. Super fresh tomatoes were the finishing touch, good amount of fresh lettuce atop the seafood. Made fresh, made right, made my day :) They have outdoor seating, a few booths and tables inside. Also appears to be a nice little bar, but I had the kiddos with me. They were sort of enterained by the several big TV's hanging around, most on sport channels. Went back for takeout, took at least 15 minutes for a bunch of tacos, but it was worth the wait for quality food.

I only know the concept because I've spoke with the owner. But think sports bar with healthier food options; like hey, tasty tacos! You wouldn't get that by just walking in though, so keep that in mind. First, there are two important things to note: 1.) Order from counter = no "waiter" - take your buzzer and pick it up at the counter by the bar 2.) Sit in bar area = waiter Now, with that out of the way, the tacos kick ass. Is it authentic Mexican? Hell no! It's a sports bar with healthier food options. Order the fish or shrimp tacos ($2 a pop) and load it with the complimentary sauces on the table. The green stuff is my favorite. I forget the name but it's some quirky title that goes with the theme. Clever if you ask me... every place needs a theme carried throughout the concept, right? Also of note is their throwback $1 beers. Yes - $1 draft beers of the week! Now that's living up to it's sports bar concept! I haven't tried much else on the menu, and that's because I don't have to. I've already found my favorite. My bet is if you like sports bars - like me. Like tacos - even if they're not authentically Mexican - like me. Like cheap beers - like me. You're gonna crush pretty hard on this place. This sports bar with a twist is a slam dunk! (Home run for you baseball fans.)

I love the review that called this a sport's bar with healthier options. Great description. Great tacos, great chips and the dollar retro draft beer is my favorite! I love the counter service- makes it fun and casual and (importantly for me) kid friendly. The ala carte pricing can be irritating, but when out with the family actually works out great- we get a few things and share. Location is great, service is fine and it's priced right. Food is very yummy!

Small restaurant where Giammarco's used to be. Tacos are $2.00 which I think is inexpensive but apparently that's a lot? The pork tacos are good and the sauces at the tables are good. It has a half bar/half restaurant setup. I've only been for lunch and have only sat on the restaurant side. Despite what a previous review said, they do not force you to drink beer at this restaurant.

One of my wife's best friends eats out quite a bit and advised us to try Yabo's Tacos. Her quote was, "the best Mexican food ever." It wasn't until after we ate here that I learned to ask a valuable question before we followed her culinary guidance. Our whole family arrived at Yabo's Tacos (great name by the way) and we loved the look and feel of the place. A huge thunderstorm chased us there and luckily we arrived inside first. The 10 or so minutes we had to wait for our food was actually welcome as we would have had to wait to take our food home anyway. We left Yabo's with tacos, burritos and chips, enjoyed the fresh smell of rain and went home. My wife and I absolutely love Mexican food. And we love supporting local businesses. But Yabo's food was just so generic and tasteless that afterwards everyone felt sad that we didn't go to Chipotle or even (gasp) Taco Bell. We really, really wanted to enjoy this local place. I kept trying a bit of every different food just hoping to find something that was good or unique. Nope. Nothing. So, what was the valuable question I needed to ask? Honey, was your friend drinking alcohol with her meal? Because, let's face it, if you are drinking a few cold beers... your food tastes a lot better. I have microwaved a four-day-old chili cheese burrito from Taco Bell late on a Friday night after some adult beverages and wondered why I don't eat at Taco Bell every meal. It's so amazing. But by the light of day, and stone cold sober... not so much. Ironically my wife's friend later went back to Yabo's, only had water with her meal and called back saying, "Yeah, that was my bad. Much better with a margarita." For those reviews that say it's authentic Mexican food... no... it's really not. It's much too bland, generic and Americanized to call it truly authentic. Sorry Yabo's, I really, really wanted to like you. Perhaps if you want to enjoy some adult beverages Yabo's Tacos might taste better. But if you're sober, don't bother. There are better-tasting options.

OK...so I was actually in the restaurant today. One side is a bar, the other side is a "walk up, order, sit down" restaurant. Wide variety of dishes on offer. Today I stuck with tacos, getting one of the pork I enjoyed so much at the event, and then trying a fish taco and the grilled shrimp taco. I liked all three, with shrimp being the clear winner. Nice flavor. I got the guacamole, as well. The chips were nice. Crisp, salty. I'll agree that the guac was *slightly* on the less flavorful side. I'm a fan of eating avocado plain by the slice, so this didn't bother me at all. In fact, it seemed quite fresh and had a great avocado flavor. Maybe a bit more lime? The person I was with says it's normally limey-er, so today must have just been a fluke. :) This is a great casual place to eat and catch a game...and it's not burgers/wings/fries! Plus...they cater!

Simple decor inside the restaurant, self service but served great and reasonable priced tacos! Love the chicken and steak tacos, ingredients are fresh! The sauces are delicious!! The guacamole dip was indeed a little bit tasteless, could be nicer with an additional pinch of salt + lime juice. I prefer the salsa dip over the guacamole, it was tastier. My husband and I went here on the recommendation of our 12 year old. And boy, were we happy! First, the food is fantastic. We are always happy to support a local business,especially one that makes almost all of their own food. Homemade chips? Awesome. Homemade Guacamole? Delicious! $2 Tacos? Terrific! I had the chicken and beef taco's and enjoyed them quite thoroughly. My husband had the fish and shrimp taco's and wouldn't shut up about them, haha. In fact, tried to convince me to go back for the next 2 days. The GM Sarah, was very friendly and took the time to explain the menu and their beer selection. Told us all about the different specials they have periodically and things they hope to do in the future. Excellent fresh food, $1Beer specials, wonderful craft beer selections and great customer service. I honestly can't say a bad thing about this place!

It is hard to find good authentic mexican food in Columbus, in search of this I came accross Yabos Tacos. It is very clean, fast and cheap and the 2 monster Tacos affered are HUGE and just $6 each! They have a bunch of different sauces at each table which are also offered for sale, they have a bunch of tacos for $1.50 each, I recommend trying them all with the different sauces, VERY GOOD!

A walk-up counter and fastish-food environment with sit-down prices. However, the service was very warm and attentive. We were asked more than once if our meals were okay and once by the manager who was making his rounds. The tables were being cleaned frequently and the feeling from the staff was of genuine concern for the patrons. This is a good thing. The food itself was ok. I had a veggie burrito which was loaded with black beans but not enough actual veggies. The green peppers were falling-apart-soft, and hard to discern from the onions. The flavor was okay also, but I would have preferred a different texture to my veggies. I was accompanied by a 10 year old who appreciated her steak tacos very much and I enjoyed half of her 3rd one when she switched gears to devour the chips. The queso was very creamy (FYI to my lactose-hater out there) but it looks like as long as you specify no cheese, the meals can still be pretty good, as the meats are grilled to a tasty char. The guac and chips were worth going back for, and next time I will skip the veggie dishes and head right for the carnivore side of the menu.

What's right: - excellent ingredients, always fresh - authentic, yet creative taco fare - the best corn tortillas in Central Ohio - delicious house crafted sauces - competitive prices - retro drafts at $1 - courteous and attentive service - big appetite menu items at a value - pleasant, always clean, casual dining room Yabo's is a Westerville family owned restaurant offering more authentic Mexican fare than most of the Mexican owned Tex Mex shops in Central Ohio. My favorite are the grilled shrimp or the tempura fish on corn tortilla taco with the spicy lime sauce. If Yabo were set on a Baja beach, these menu items are competitive with or better than the local versions. I have visited many times since opening and the kitchen has not missed yet. For a moderately priced, casual meal of very good quality a league apart from chain food, Yabo is an great destination.

Looking for a new place for dinner last night, Yelp directed me to Yabo's. Well done, Yelp. This place is 1/2 bar, 1/2 restaurant in a strip mall about a half mile north of Polaris Parkway on State Road (so behind Kroger). The restaurant works on the order-at-the-counter-pick-up-your-food-from-the-Âkitchen method, like Panera. The menu has a number of styles of food (burrito, wrap, taco, etc) and in each you can pick from one of eight or nine styles of meat. I had the chicken burrito, wet, and thought it was excellent. The black beans in the burrito were especially nice since they had some real texture, not the mushiness you so often get from canned beans. The chips were heavily seasoned (nice) and the salsa was fresh and flavorful. Three types of hot sauce were available on each table (Chipotle, Mild/Sissy, and Citrus) and each were interesting and good in their own way. Overall, it was a nice discovery and an excellent option when the taco craving hits. I would certainly prefer it over Chipotle or any of the 300 bland Mexican restaurants around Columbus (El Vaquero, I'm looking at you).

Shrimp tacos, shrimp tacos, shrimp tacos...I love 'em! I've tried a few other mini tacos like the pork, fish, and beef but I just keep coming back to the shrimp. No need to add an extra sauce. They already come with a slightly spicy mayo-ish sauce that is perfect. I also LOVE the chips and guacamole. It is usually spot on, but I'll admit that once is was a little lack luster. Maybe the flavors didn't have time to marry. The only thing I don't like about Yabo's is the lack of table service. I don't mind ordering and picking up my own food, but I'd love it if someone could come out and serve from the bar. I'd rather not get up in the middle of my meal and wait at the bar to get another margarita. I'm just sayin'....

AMAZING! We loved everything about Yabo's, and will absolutely be back again. Awesome chips and salsa, and fantastic hot sauces on each table. We especially loved the chipotle - just enough heat, and a little bit of sweet. Perfect! The Grilled Steak Rice and Beans bowl blows Chipotle out of the water. Love the warm rice and melted cheese in the bottom. Steak was clearly a good quality meat, and straight of the grill. Can't wait to go back to check out more on the menu. Ambiance was spot on for a place like this.. a little dim with some Mexican flare, but the same energy as a popular bar. We felt like we were hanging out on vacation. Even better - they feature a retro draft beer special for just $1! Can't beat that.

I've written about Yabos in the pass, however... my last visit I was sooo disappointed that it wold take a lot for me to go back. You just do NOT serve finger food stacked up on top of each peace. The bottom got so soggy and gross. When I tried to eat it with a fork the paper tore up and, yes; I eat part of paper. Just a gross experience altogether. I did bring to the owner attention, but felt the exchange went on deaf ears. Wont be back - value has gone down :-(

I've visited here twice, both times were fantastic. The first visit I opted to try a bunch of various taco's (shredded beef, chicken, shrimp, and steak). I was a little nervous when I got all 4 together and all I saw was tortilla and shredded lettuce, but after picking up the first I noticed the appropriate portions but I was again shocked, this time by the feta cheese. I've never had a taco with just feta but given that it is a healthier cheese than shredded whatever I understood why it was chosen. Upon first bite I was instantly relieved, the feta tasted different but great. I then started to sample the table sauces, their recommendations were fantastic and created interesting layers of flavor. All 4 tacos were great, the grilled shrimp was my favorite, especially with the extra sauce that provided a bit of zing. Adding the lime table sauce made it even better. The second visit I tried the chips and salsa. The chips reminded me of my hometown favorite with the mild cheese salt baked into the chip. The salsa was thin but very tasty and the quac was AMAZING. I am a very picky quac person and I could tell this was made fresh. I did not get to enjoy a beer at the bar, but I was told that they were a dollar and I thought that 2 tacos and a beer for $5 was a fantastic adult's kid-meal. To other visitors: be aware this is not a standard taco place. Their food reminds me of the Mission District in San Fran. Some might call it a weird combination of tastes, but I think they do a wonderful job. Not quite normal mid-west faire, but a good change to an out of towner that wasn't expecting much walking through the door.

I've eaten at Yabo's three times and it's quickly becoming one of my favorite places. As stated in other reviews, when you walk in, it is half "fast casual" (order at counter and sit down) restaurant and half bar; you can choose which side of the place you wish to eat in. Both sides are decorated in an inviting manner encouraging you to linger and enjoy your meal and beverage. I love that the tacos are $2 a piece! I've had chicken soft tacos twice and fish tacos once. I normally love fish tacos, but don't really like theirs. However, the chicken tacos were fantastic. They also have burritos, bowls and a host of other options if you don't want a straight-up hard or soft taco. There also are meatless options which I've never ordered but look good. The chips and salsa are great too. I've also ordered takeout here and had an equally positive experience. I agree with the other reviewer who said this place is a nice alternative to Chipotle, without the line and a much more appealing environment.

We love Yabo's! We have been there twice in the last week and love the food and the atmosphere. It is inexpensive and the variety is huge. We did have issues with the Chips Trio both times we ordered it (first order got missed, second order came out as just chips and salsa) but we are chalking it up to new opening glitches. I have recommended it to several friends and we will definitely go back.

I REALLY wish this place had better food or I would be there quite often as it's a convenient location for me and I love the concept of healthier Mexican food in a kind of fun sports bar atmosphere. Unfortunately the first time I went there, the service was painfully slow only to be served the most mediocre of food. Since we really want to support local businesses, we chalked it up to them working out the kinks in the operation. The second time for a carryout burrito was okay - nothing to write home about.. My third time tonight for carryout was again just very bland food. My daughter nearly cried when she saw her soft taco with literally a few tiny pieces of chicken cubes in it, a couple sprinkles of cheese (which she explicitly told the girl at the counter she didn't want) and that was all that was in it!!! For all the reviews raving about the two dollar tacos, I felt my daughters was worth about fifty cents at the most. Luckily, I gave her part of my burrito, which was a pretty decent portion. From reading lots of positive reviews, I am happy some folks feel they are getting good meals and good value. I'm just disappointed it has never impressed me at all.

Called today to get a small taco catering package. I have called for this package many, many times before for small parties at my house. The girl who answered the phone acted like ordering this without a few days notice was absurd. She said she needed a minimum of 24 hours. I was in the restaurant last week for fish tacos and they were out of just about every domestic beer. The only thing available was a corona. We are regular customers but something is amiss. Why can't you make 20 tacos to go without 24 hours notice?

Okay... so I might have had my favorite tacos in Columbus today. We popped in for a late lunch this afternoon before starting my quest for a bike. I opted for 2 baja-style tacos; one with grilled shrimp and one with pulled beef. The boy had a fried shrimp and pulled pork tacos. We also ordered a side of chips & salsa. I perused the beer menu but opted to not partake, the boy went for something he'd never had (Finch's awesome lager). The tacos were amazing. We both loved the shrimp tacos that we ordered, the shrimp was perfectly cooked and were perfectly dressed. The boy was less enthusiastic about the pulled pork, however, I loved the pulled beef. At $2 a taco, these are a steal! We also experimented with the sauces on the table... in fact, we came home with a bottle of the chipotle sauce. All in all, this was a wonderful and cheap lunch. I suspect that we will be back early and often.

My buddy brought me here and I was excited for as much as he was hyping it, but it didn't do much for me. I like the prices ($2ish per taco and $3 for chips and queso), but the food itself was kind of bland. The tacos were good but nothing gamebreaking - loved the feta twist but couldn't really taste it. None of the sauces did much for me, but they were sufficient. I was most disappointed in my queso - it had good flavor, but wasn't hot when served and was very runny. All in all, I'd come to Yabo's again but it's not too far up my list when I'm in town.

I've been to Yabo's a few times since they've been opened and I've never been disappointed. If you like fish tacos, they have pretty stellar ones here. The ingredients are always fresh and tasty. I know tacos aren't the healthiest thing you can eat, but the fare here is a little lighter than you're average taco/Mexican place, so that is pretty cool. They have great deals on beers and cocktails as well. The wait is never long and they have carry out if you don't feel like eating in. The location is great because you don't have to get in the Polaris mess. I love this little local joint.

Seen lots of good press and the photos in print ads always looked great. May have been a case where expectations were too high. Food was good, not great -- but for the price I expected more. $15 for lunch with chips and salsa ($2), fish taco ($2.5), and steak burrito ($8) was steep. Chips and salsa were amazing! The chips are seasoned and better than chips. Fish taco felt just like it was taco made any other time and just add different meat. Which disappointed me since to me fish needs that citrus flavors to really shine. Burrito was comparable to chipotle or Qdoba ...

I have been here a couple if times. The food is ok but I can honestly say I have had better. The food without their special sauce is plain and doesn't pop with flavor. The price is reasonable and service has always been fast, even on busy days. In fairness to the eatery, I have only tried a couple of the tacos, so my review is limited. If you are looking for a comparable style try Haas off of Sawmill. Same price, same size portions with more flavor without the special sauces.

Oh wow, where to begin! Just a fantastic taco experience. Excellent tacos and burritos (try the sloppy Yabo's - you'll be happy you did). Great specialty sauces too, ranging from mild to "burn-you-soul" hot! The best part about Yabo's (aside from the great people) is the beer selection. A great lineup of local craft brews that changes frequently. If you want a great meal at a great price then you must stop at Yabo's!

Drove by a few times and read some reviews. Thought ok. I'll try it some time. Wife didn't like the sloppy one. Cold and unflavorful. Returned it. I got the massive which it was. Had to add hot sauce for flavor. Ate because hungry and didn't feel like complaining also. Kinda cool temperature wise for mine also. But I settled. after a mild stomach ache while eating; I made it 5min in thrift store behind them and proceeded to have 3 bathroom visits. The staff was more interested in phones and sports games instead of food prep. Tried didn't like. Won't be back.

Good food. Fun atmosphere. Lots of tv's with football to watch every game. Sometimes there's a wait, but it's worth it.
