Never expect anything from catering from a chain - except when they totally come through for you! I helped to plan an event recently and we needed to feed 12 people on fairly short notice due to something falling through. I called Macaroni Grill and placed multiple orders to feed 12 people - for pick up in 3 hours. Not only was it ready before I got there, but everyone enjoyed the delicious food. Is it the greatest Italian food you will ever eat? No. Is it perfectly good food, available on short notice? Yes. And that's why you might consider them :-)

Food is fine, but the service .. Leaves MUCH to be desired. My instinct is that the kitchen is the root of their disorganization/service issues. First indicator of this: when the waiter told our table (party of 8) that we were only permitted 3 "create your own" pasta dishes per table. (I'm sorry ... What?!) Odd. Anyway, after waiting nearly an hour for our food to come out, 2 members of our party (including my 85-year-old grandfather) ended up receiving their food a FULL 15 MINUTES after the rest of the table. Like ... My pasta was cold by the time their food came out. What a bummer. :-/ In the end, the General Manager (Todd) was very kind, even coming out of the kitchen to apologize for the delay in our service. He told us that they would be compensating part of our meal, which we absolutely appreciated, but ... the experience still left much to be desired. It sounded like the waiter did everything he could, but the kitchen staff is really struggling with deployment during busy times. Get it together, guys. Get it together. Very disappointing, Macaroni Grill. :-(

A friend and I went for Macaroni Grill this morning for brunch. We were the first people there so there was no wait. Our server was friendly but couldn't get my drink order right-I asked for club soda, he brought plain water. He then brought me club soda, but after I took a couple sips he refilled it with plain water. Then he brought me tonic water. There was no brunch/lunch menu, so we had to order dinner entrees.I ordered a side salad with my meal, I think $3 for a bowl of lettuce with some grape tomatoes is a little pricey. Some cheese or cucumbers would have been nice. Our parmesan crusted fish was very good. About the same time we finished eating the chef started yelling at the other cooks like he thought he was Gordon Ramsay on Hell's Kitchen. It might make for good TV but it doesn't do much for your eating experience. If you have a problem with your staff talk to them privately. I doubt if we'll go back.

Well, this was disappointing. Our first visit to Macaroni Grille in more than fifteen years will likely be our last. Our local MG closed some time ago, so when we found ourselves hungry and in the tri county area, we thought we'd check it out for old times sake. Whoops. The service was well-intentioned and sort of friendly, but this location was seriously under-staffed. The shift manager was running around like a headless chicken trying to help serve. Instead of, you know, actually managing. It took forever to be greeted/drink order, forever to actually get the drinks, forever to place our order, and forever to get the food. The hostesses were quoting hour+ waits, but there weren't so many people there - it was due to the fact that they couldn't turn tables over. The food was acceptable if unspectacular. If the service had been great/fast, this would be a 4 star. Really, the experience deserves one star, but I'm giving two because the staff was trying. Someone...the GM doing the hiring/staffing, or the corporate hack setting the labor budget...earned this poor review. YOU, sir/madam, have hamstrung the staff into an impossible task. They had no hope of providing us good service tonight, through no fault of their own. We won't bother to return. The food wasn't worth dealing with the other hassles.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Our server Donna was probably one of the worst servers I have ever had. Rolling your eyes at my husband is not a good way to earn your tip. Reaching across the table and never saying excuse me is not ok. Asking customers to basically bus their own table, um no. Bringing the wrong food and just being plain rude, not cool. Just sent an email to the manager to let them know about my horrible experience. I did not pick this restaurant, my cousin (the birthday girl) did, and I am sorry that she had such bad service for her birthday. I would NEVER go here again.

Note to self. When travelling for business and wanting fresh seafood... do not order it from here. Not sure what I was thinking. I am from Florida so I guess it was on my mind that fish is always fresh. I ordered a sea bass which I figured there was no way it could be disappointing. Boy was I was wrong. It was overcooked, bland, frozen feeling and more. However - Macaroni Grill in general is a great staple chain for pastas, etc... I just wasn't thinking. My recommendation: Avoid seafood and order land animals

Attentive waiter and not too crowded. This place is decent for standard fare Italian food with a glass of wine. Location is close to tri-county mall. Had the pork chop, very tender in a rustic tomato sauce with potatoes and broccoli. Won't blow your mind but very satisfying. My wife had the chicken parm slightly overlooked but edible. We would return.

Hadn't been to Macaroni Grille in quite some time and was excited to return. Unfortunately, this visit did not live up to expectations. We waited about 15 min for a table (reasonable), but the wait time for everything after continued. Our appetizers didn't come out for at least 30 min even after asking for an update. Same thing with the side salads. When we did get an appetizer, it wasn't one we ordered. It was especially awkward when a table of 6 hot sat behind us and after, got up and walked out because no one had greeted their table yet. The bartender tried to ask them not to leave and then yelled on the floor in front of customers to the wait staff about them not greeting this table. Awkward and uncomfortable. Finally the apps we did order came out. About 20 minutes later our food. Our waitress did apologize eventually but it was a lot of blame game happening. Blaming it on being short staffed in the kitchen, blah blah blah. Eventually the manager came out to apologize but also felt like a lack of apology and just blaming it on waiters accidentally taking the wrong food to tables so ours was behind. Food was okay. Not bad. Not great. Bathrooms also appeared to not have been cleaned in hours. We were able to laugh it all off because the waitress was trying hard to make us feel better and we were with great company so not a huge deal. Poor management presence on the floor and lack of staff leads me to my rating. Unfortunate because based on other reviews, it sounds like this is a common problem. Hoping the next visit will be better or else I won't be coming back.

Compared to my previous review our server Amy was not as friendly since our last visit.Made me wish I never ask for her to be my server.I decided to order something simple and familiar on the menu. Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken.Served in a big bowl and immediately I noticed how dry my pasta look.BUT I did request extra sauce so I look past that . Chicken was cold and pasta was lukewarm. Amy asked if I wanted to order something else.I said no.I gave this place a 2nd chance for a good meal . That's it.So Amy spoke with the manager to remove it from my bill.Sad the manager never showed his face.

For a chain restaurant this place is pretty good. We had a gift card. We both got quartinos of wine. Their wine list is pretty solid for such a generic place. The menu has good options at reasonable price-points. My wife got the carmella's chicken, which she liked a lot, but which was a little heavy on the cream sauce. I got the lasagna, which was great. Service was slow but friendly and gave great recommendations. We were in no hurry. Both our entrees were large enough for us to save half for lunch the next day (and we're not normally people who can do that!). Overall, I'd say it's a great value for the price.

I always enjoy a meal here and have found the wait staff friendly and helpful even when they are super busy. I generally stick with the Chicken Parm, and love the big portion (lunch the next day!), but sometimes have to request extra marinara as it can be a little dry. Overall, great neighborhood Italian considering it's a chain!

Real poor service! I couldn't tell you bout the food didn't wait around long enough to order. I was met with a very rude staff that didn't want my money so I took it some where else. Good thing chiles is next door.

I hate dust chains especially in restaurants. We waited for 45 minutes to be seated and another 37 minutes for the meal to arrive at our table. While waiting near the cooking area we noticed several dust chains hanging from the ceiling in the grill/cooking area. When our meal arrived, the Chicken Under a Brick sage roasted half chicken, asparagus and roasted potatoes menu item was not HALF of a chicken, it was actually a de-boned chicken breast and thigh (one quarter), the wing and drum stick were missing actually these two pieces are not part of the HALF. Did I miss something here? We went to the Cheesecake factory and their HALF is HALF, I checked Montgomery Inn and their HALF is a HALF. The "manager" who came to our table was not friendly or nice she seemed mad that we questioned the menu language. Wow! Thanks for the experience. I will be certain to share this with 20 of my friends and 20 of their friends etc. The "opera" singer was OK and interesting perhaps the best part of the night listening to him sing.

We enjoy going to this restaurant as the food is tasty, the wait staff friendly and helpful, plus the decor is nice. After starting off with Calamari along with the complimentary bread & olive oil, I generally will get Penne Rustica. One nice touch is they will make it with wheat pasta if you ask. The Chicken Milanese and Chicken Marsala are both high recommended. If you are lucky, you wait staff might be have an amazing singing voice, too.

Monday night at 6:00 PM. Restaurant only half full. Arrived. Stood at hostess stand for 10 minutes without any acknowledgement by staff even though there were 6-7 people in the kitchen area. I finally asked if anyone was working the desk and was told by the manager thatbig would be another 10 minutes (over her shoulder) because the kitchen was backed up. So 20 minutes just to get any acknowledgement at all? I left and spent my money elsewhere.

Went at 3pm on a Saturday. Service was reasonable, waitress (Amy) was friendly enough. Food came out in a reasonable time. My chicken ravioli was pretty good. My wife got the Chicken on a brick . This is a good Italian restaurant as chain restaurants go. The traditional Italian dishes are consistent and well above average. The food quality/taste is also well above average, but does not quite rise to the level of another chain, namely Carrabbas. It may go without saying however that this restaurant is much better than The Olive Garden. I have always been presented with friendly, prompt and courteous service here. The place is clean and well maintained. The atmosphere/noise is a typical Italian village with low rumble. A private conversation over dinner is easy however. If you are unsure of a small mom-and-pop place and you aren't near a Carrabbas, this is a good go-to

Wow! Has this restaurant gone down hill. The food, while tasty, was luke warm at best and the service was terrible. We had a party of 11 and once they realize that mandatory 18% is in the bag, they ain't doing any more than they have to. We won't be returning.

Wow. I went to the grill about 5 years ago and it was very good. Spaghetti and meatballs were delicious. Went to the Tri County one and it was Terrible. They really fell off. Stuffed mushrooms were shriveled and burned. Wife's lobster ravs tasted like the lobster was frozen and then over cooked. sauce had little to no flavor. Spaghetti and meatballs tasted like leftovers. Not a fresh and vibrant sauce. Meatballs were ok. Soup

We had a wonderful meal here with another couple last night, and had some interesting customer service aspects. The restaurant was packed. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. I ordered veal saltimbocca, and a few minutes later he returned to let me know they were out of it. So I ordered the other veal item on the list - a veal chop special. A few minutes later the manager came by and said they were also out of that one. Immediately he said my dinner was free - so I ordered parmesian crusted sole, which was delicious - perhaps better than the veal option. He then brought us $25 in gift certificates. And as we neared the end of the meal, he brought a togo order of the veal saltimbocca, which my wife and I ate tonight for dinner. I'm guessing they had to thaw veal, or somehow obtained more as the evening went along. At any rate, the food was delicious and the customer service was exceptional.

A little hesitant about having lunch here because the online menu did not interest me. I forgo the hesitation and insist on grabbing a bite. The awkward moment: acknowledgement of our existence took a whole 10 minutes and NO they were not busy. Afterward our server Dale was courteous and efficient. They start you out with an over-sized ciabatta roll with olive oil dip. I didn't partake in the olive oil, but the bread was sufficient. Side salad was a tad analogous to Olive garden, but better. I ordered a penne pasta dish with shrimp, chicken, prosciutto in a creamy parmesan sauce. A tad salty, but tasty. Atmosphere and music is nicely accommodating to the Italian theme. I'll return to the Macaroni Grill again. It's worth going at least once and if you are not a fan after one visit, then that's understandable too.

It's probably been 10-12 years since I've been to Macaroni Grill. Typically, we don't choose pasta places when we go out to eat. I was invited for a special occasion. Service was really great. The restaurant was beautiful but not remotely busy. Menu is small and focused but I feel like some Italian items were missing. The bread was good - dipping oil was "eh". My son got a meatball "fatbread" and I got the Rigatoni bake. I'm not a fan of chunky tomato sauce and it was everywhere. Meatballs were good - I could have done without the big, honking pieces of sausage. I liked the ricotta baked into the Rigatoni but it needed more mozzarella on top. A very average meal.

Had a late dinner on a Thursday. Sherry was our waitress and possessed two important skills: 1. She can write upside down; 2. She gives honest reviews of menu items. Had a good meal and a good conversation with the Hoff.

Soup

Service was first-rate! From the moment we entered, the staff was incredibly attentive and accommodating. Our appetizers and entrees arrived hot, well-prepared, and in a timely manner. It was a perfect dining experience!

We ate here late on a Sunday evening. The place was fairly empty but we were greeted cheerfully and service was great. The meal was good as well.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
