    Where do I start?! This place is excellent! Stopped here on our way to Put-In Bay and I highly recommend that everyone does the same! We ordered the fried green tomatoes... Delicious!!! I had the pub burger! If you want a burger this is the one to get! We also ordered the chicken Parmesan, amazing red sauce! We finished our dinner with the French silk pie. This is a must order item! I have never had better pie! Ask for Zach! He has great recommendations for first timers and provided excellent service! Hands down best diner in Ohio!

    My family and I are from Philadelphia and we are here in Ohio for vacation. My wife found this place on the Drive ins, Diners, and Dives website and Its safe to say that it's definitely a must do when you're in or near Sandusky, Ohio! It doesn't look like much from the outside, but once you get in there and have the experience that I had you will not regret stopping! It's a smaller place, so it's very comfortable and homey. My party of 6 was promptly seated. Keith was our server and he came over in a reasonable amount of time for us to take a quick look at the menu. We ordered our drinks and for an appetizer, we ordered the sauerkraut balls and the loaded fries. Both items were delicious! Even my children who aren't huge fans of sauerkraut enjoyed them and who doesn't like some loaded fries?! They were served with their house made buttermilk ranch dressing. Everyone was stumped on what to order because of all the great sounding items on the menu. I ordered the shredded beef, which was legendary for them. (They've been serving it for 40 years!). It was delicious! It brought me back to my grandmother's kitchen! My wife ordered the Lake Erie Yellow Perch which was also very good. From the Lake to your plate!! My daughter ordered the chicken salad on a croissant which she enjoyed. It had grapes in it, which was a surprisingly good addition. My other daughters had the BBQ pulled pork, chicken parm sandwich and the chicken tenders and Mac and cheese. A few of us got the honey glazed carrots as a side, which were very good! The place was known specifically for its cakes and pie desserts, so of course we couldn't skip that part. Three of us got the warm apple crisp with vanilla ice cream which was out of this world! My daughter got the Oreo cheesecake which she ate every last bite of. My wife got the peanut butter pie which she also finished. By the end of our meal, we were ready for someone to roll us out of there. Aside from all the amazing food, the service was wonderful. We always had a full glass in front of us, which is important because it's often neglected in places. Keith was sure to make suggestions and was able to answer any questions we had. He told us the most popular items and helped us choose what we thought would be best. If we ever find ourselves back in Sandusky, Ohio we will be sure to stop back and revisit this gem and you should too! It definitely will not be a trip wasted!

    What can I say except three out of four mornings on vacation in Sandusky we ate there. Get past the outdated place and get rid of the Gordon Ramsey voice complaining about the decor and just get to the food. It was like eating at my grandmother's both with the ambiance and with the food. Breakfasts were homey and filling. Both kids learned fast get the one pancake option. They are huge! Too bad the French toast did not have similar options for a smaller portion! Yes the plates are filled! I like grits and each breakfast I ordered them. They were hot, not pasty or scummy like at many places. They were cooked properly! Of all three breakfasts we had no complaints. The food was fresh, hot, served with a smile. It just felt like home. I would highly recommend this place.

    We may be on Perkins Highway but the P chain can take a back seat to this local fav. Cinnamon swirl bread french toast is remniscent of a Cinnabon, and the coffee freely flows along side no frills plated breakfast plates. On our cedar point cloudy moment, we took the 9 min drive to check out this jersey-diner-remniscent stop. I ran into the cook who humbly thanked me for a compliment on the omelets. We are grabbing some on premises baked goods to go!

    Loved this place!! My husband and I were really not sure if we should venture out and try a local diner (we're an inter-racial couple and you all know how some small cities can be) but because of the great reviews we decided to give it a whirl. The food here is awesome. I ordered the Mile High Quiche. The crust was nice and flaky. The bottom of the quiche oozed cheese. It was filled with lots of spinach and bacon. They gave me a helping so big I couldn't possibly eat it all, and trust me my husband was more than happy to eat the rest. My meal came with what they call a bran muffin. This was the best bran muffin I have ever had (not that I eat a lot of them). It's served warm. You can taste the different spices in it. It's like your grandma was there baking. The fruit bowl (that also came with my meal) had big chunks of pineapple, watermelon, cantaloupe & grapes. Their pancakes are mouth watering good too. Our breakfast was sooooo good, we went back the next day and split the quiche breakfast & got more pancakes. Next time we are in Sandusky, without a doubt, we will be coming back.

    My family and I came here on vacation for Cedar Point and decided to check this place out for breakfast. Everything was delicious and the servers were super nice! Pricing was reasonable. I love that you can create your own omelette and the coffee had great quality!

    Food was good but nothing special. The French fries were awesome! Typical family restaurant with some fresh bakery that was fairly decent. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to go back but it's not because of food or service it's just that I wasn't wowed.

    I had my doubts about this place at the last minute. I was looking at some of the photos of the food and began thinking, maybe it didn't look that great. Dinner was excellent, from the sauerkraut balls and the homemade pretzel bites to the hot beef sandwich. Even the house made salad dressings were excellent! Service was great, too!

    On a recent trip to Sandusky, OH we found a quaint little spot to grab some Vegetarian based fare called Berardi's Family Kitchen. Located just south of the downtown area, the atmosphere is inviting and family friendly. Berardi's screams hometown fare to me. We were thrilled to see a large selection of salads, Veggie sandwiches and even a Veggie burger on the menu. Per recommendation of our friendly server, we ordered their famous Bavarian Soft Pretzel Bites as an appetizer. I am not a big fan of soft pretzels, however, these bites were perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside- just the way a soft pretzel should be. Served alongside a bowl of house-made beer cheese, I can understand why these have become so popular here. I ordered a small cup of Cream of Cabbage soup. There were a few pieces of pork in it but overall it was pretty fantastic. I always associate Cream of Cabbage soup with a 90-year old grandmother and if that is how you perceive me then so be it. The soup was delicious. My companion Chad ordered the Fried Green Tomato Veggie Burger with white cheddar, grilled onions, lettuce and a bistro sauce. The fried green tomatoes were lightly breaded and plump. His burger was served with a side of french fries which were golden and crisp. I ordered the Eggplant Parmesan house specialty which came with a small house salad. The house salad was rather large- dried cranberries, toasted almonds, mandarin oranges, fresh strawberries and feta cheese topped with a homemade honey maple dressing. Quite impressive for a house salad. My Eggplant Parmesan was pretty good too. Served with a side of spaghetti marinara, the eggplant was lightly breaded and covered with cheese and more sauce. It was cooked perfectly but I could have used just slightly less cheese. Other items on the menu include Taco Salad, Chopped Steak and Yellow Perch. The Berardi family started their business selling fries at the nearby Cedar Point Amusement Park and eventually began to open up a few local restaurants. Berardi's Family Kitchen is definitely a place for great homemade family fare and is quite popular among the locals

    My husband and I are from the south side of Chicago and were visiting OH to do a charity bike ride for Get Your Guts in Gear. I found this restaurant on yelp and I agree with all of the positive reviewers. We ate both breakfast and lunch here. Both were awesome and they have marked what is GF on their menu which is also great. We enjoyed the breakfast frittata and appreciated that it came with fresh fruit. I try to stay away from French fries and anything fried but had to have Lake Erie perch here which was fantastic. French fries that were worth the calories and great coleslaw.

    This place is a true Gem in Sandusky - I will never come to Cedar Point again without coming in for a DELICIOUS meal!! Everything is super fresh and homemade, excellent! We ate there for dinner one night and breakfast before leaving. Both were amazing and everyone at our table was raving! Don't skip dessert- the Dutch Apple Pie was awesome with vanilla ice cream!

    I'm glad I stopped back with my folks last week for dinner. It's been too long--I haven't been here in around 15 years. This is still the quintessential local family restaurant I remember. They no longer have the ostrich burgers I used to love, but they still have those amazing thick cut fries. And they also serve wine and beer these days. Score! If I still lived in the Sandusky area, I would probably frequent this place a lot. Especially since they always serve breakfast. My dad had the spaghetti and meatballs, my mom had the petite sirloin, and I had the 12oz choice ribeye (with fries of course). The steaks were cooked properly and they tasted great. There was a little hit of herb garlic butter on the meat--a nice touch. I didn't taste my dad's food since I can't eat pasta anymore, but he seemed to really enjoy everything. Service was great. Beradi's has a mix of long-time servers and younger folk. Our server was a younger guy. The younger folk must be learning from the best becuase our service was top notch. I can't make a single complaint about the service. Overall, I'm really digging on this place. It's affordable, the quality of food is better than the chains on Rt. 250, and service is top notch. This is a great place to frequent for both locals and the Cedar Point visitors.

    Hometown feel for a family restaurant. Excellent food and portions for the price. Went twice while I was in Sandusky for a LAX tournament. Breakfast and lunch were both great. Beats the chain restaurants. Worth the money.

    We came here just prior to leaving Sandusky to go back home as we read very positive reviews and it turns out we were not let down. Unfortunately they had a limited breakfast menu since it was after (I think) 12. Fortunately the menu was sufficient to satisfy our breakfast needs. I ordered the two eggs with hash browns, toast, and steak. At first I thought the eggs were a tad on the cold side. I noted it to my party and our waitress who overheard me immediately offered to replace it. I told her not to bother and that it was no major issue. My meal was very good and the steak was excellent, and probably the reason why I am giving 5 stars instead of 4 as I feel it really stood out from other places. We also took some of the chocolate fudge cookies to go and they were very good. I also really liked the decor as the place had a true old school 50s diner feel to it. The service was very good and accommodating. All of that put together, and especially considering how good my steak was, is enough to warrant the rating.

    When we pulled into the parking lot I was a little hesitant, walking in I felt much better. Once we were seated we waited a couple minutes before our server arrive. I was getting nervous thinking great, another crap place in Sandusky. BOY WAS I WRONG! The service was great, the food even better! No one not even me, (and I am picky about food and service) Everyone was so happy (all six of us) we came back the next day to try their breakfast. We may even make a day event to go back out there just for the food! Thank you so much I thought quality food and customer service died.

    Wow. From the outside it was a question but once inside, this place turned out to be great. The fresh fish (locally caught) was fantastic and the service was exceptional (Thanks Emily). I would go back as it was the best meal I had in Ohio.

    My boyfriend and I aren't from the area, so we went here based completely on Yelp reviews, and we were not disappointed. I had the Baked White Cheddar Mac and Cheese, and it was absolutely amazing. I would say it is the best Mac and cheese I have ever had the privilege to try. My boyfriend had the Applewood Bacon Burger, and he claims he has only had one other burger that was better than that one. Overall I thought it was a cute little restaurant with a friendly staff and amazing food.

    We went to this restaurant, during trip to Cedar Point, based on reviews that we read. Overall it was a good choice for an family of 5. As other reviewers mentioned it is a diner but I did feel that it was a notch up from your typical diner. The food was good and plentiful. Service was good. Our waitress brought out a few sample dishes to try, as we were deciding on meals. Kids had a good time and we left satisfied. If I was in the area, I would return for another visit. Oh and the fries are good too :)

    Really close to Cedar Point and well worth stopping by before you head out of town. I got the ribeye steak and grilled onion sandwich and loaded fries. Completely amazing taste! I loved that the onions were diced! Nice touch that you rarely see on steak sandwiches. The fries were absolutely the best! I got them with cheddar cheese and bacon on top. Any time I go to Cedar Point again I will definitely make sure I always stop by this place each time!

    Ok, this is a mom and pop place that is packed during lunch, the food is is good, the fries are what they are known for, but the killer is the Peanut Butter Cake. The PB cake has a chocolate peanut butter layer covered with peanut butter mixed whipped cream OMG is it good.

    Was in Sandusky at a waterpark and rather than wade through the herd of the great unwashed waiting for the free breakfast, we went to google and found this local gem. Berardi's is not too far off the beaten path, but we saw many more locals than tourists. The staff greeting was warm and friendly, and we were seated right away. Hubs and I both went for the cinnamon bread french toast (AWESOME!) and pancakes. The whole grains with pecans were light and tasty. We had three kiddos with us - each got something different, and even my picky Redhead was happy with her chocolate chip pancakes. Hubs has decided we need to come back to the lake just to eat breakfast here - we might manage to hit a couple of wineries or something too, tho!

    hahaha, I love how you're a regular once you check in twice. Well, if I had to be a regular of anywhere in Sandusky, as a New Yorker, it should be Berardi's. I went for lunch after a wedding on Saturday, then for breakfast on Sunday before heading back to the East Coast. The portion sizes are huge (pancakes as big as my head) and everything was delicious. Most notable for me were the sauerkraut balls (breaded, fried balls of sauerkraut --- soooo good) and the potato soup with dumplings (looked weird, but tasted great, and settled my stomach when it wasn't feeling so great). And the pancakes were phenomenal. I don't plan to be back in the area ever again, honestly, but if I find myself there, I'll definitely be back at Berardi's.

    The family came in for breakfast. The Dan's omelet had a decent amount of meat with it, but it wasn't as hot as we would have liked and the slice of fake cheese was lame. The waffle had really big fresh strawberries and whipped cream. The cinnamon swirl toast had a great topping. The French toast was good. The spinach bacon quiche really stole the show. If we are being critical we would have liked to have more bacon, but it really was cooked perfectly and we loved it.

    I travel for work for a living and have been to Sandusky many times and a person at work recommended this restaurant. I was looking for a great perch dinner or sandwich and they had it on the menu. I got the sandwich and onion rings and I have to say I was very disappointed. The onion rings were huge but all breading and grease. The two pieces of perch were very small and overcooked. Thin with all breading and fish was hard. Plus it was on a thick bun. Should of got the fries and passed on the perch. Everything looked good except what I ordered. Would go back and give it another try. Deserts looked great!

    Ambiance: Diner with a beign/black color scheme. I was surprised to see carpeting used as a molding along some of their walls but whatever works I guess. Service was super-friendly and resonably responsive considering we came during the lunch rush. They did mess up one of orders and had to wait 5-7 mins until it came out but they were very nice about it. Food: I got the chicken salad on a croissant which was pretty decent. The chicken was meaty and chunky like I prefer. It didn't taste overly like mayo and had grapes which I enjoy. Overall, it was well-balanced although it won't be winning any awards for boldness or creativity. It was served on a croissant which was perhaps the biggest failing of the dish. I like my croissants soft, buttery and flakey and this one was none of those things, it tasted like a croissant-shaped roll you find in the hospital, gross. Aside from that I got the side of white mac which was pretty good. The cheese sauce was separating just a hint but the flavor was good - mild, cheesy, and savory like white cheese should be. I did snag a few fries as well and I honestly can't see what the hoopla is about. The fries are ginormous and taste very potato-y... like a fluffy potatoe wedge. They were only slightly crispy on the edges and leaned towards the side of being greasy, I enjoyed my mac n cheese much more but to each his own I guess. Overall I'd say this is a solid diner serving excellent homestyle food, you can easily see each of these dishes being made in your mom's kitchen. Don't expect anything gourmet or ground-breaking - just good food served by friendly staff.

    We came here for breakfast because of the good reviews. The food was mediocre. The service was slowwwww. Took about 45 minutes to get our food. One plate of eggs came out cold so they took it back and microwaved it instead of recooking the eggs. The coffee was burnt and awful. The corn beef hash was decent, as were the maple links. Not sure there are many options in this town but based on my experience, I'll look elsewhere next time.

    Friendly service and good food. I had The Regg with roast beef hash, eggs, hash browns and cheese. We also tried the seasonal pumpkin pancake-very tasty. There were 6 adults in our group and everyone was quite satisfied with their meal. A typical old school family breakfast joint with food served just right.

    If you are in Sandusky and would like a nice family friendly place to get good food at a good price Berardi's should be at the top of your list, and here is why. First we aren't talking about some boring chain but instead a place that has been serving people for decades. Second, the staff, everyone we interacted with was very friendly, and willing to help. Third our server, a young lady named Taylor was a very knowledgeable and attentive server, especially since it was a Friday at dinner time and the restaurant had filled up when we were there. We never waited for anything that she had control over, and in fact drink refills came without asking. Great job by Taylor. Finally, and probably the most important is the food. There were five of us, three adults and two kids and everyone was very pleased. I got the 1/4 lb BBQ Bacon Burger with fries, my wife the Southwest Grilled Chicken Salad, our kids got mac and cheese, and a corn dog, and our uncle a grilled cheese with onion rings. The burger was very good, a little dry but I requested it medium-well as I do everytime I order a burger from a place I've never been. Next time medium will be sufficient, the fries were large, home made, and very good. The salad was crisp, everything was very fresh, even the black beans in the relish had some bit left to them. The grilled cheese was large, with bread grilled till it had a bit of a crunch to it and the onion rings were obviously made in house. I gave this place five stars because it truly is family friendly. Is it gourmet high end food? No, but thats not what we were looking for here. It was clean, people were friendly, and five people ate and got full for $50.93 and that included two deserts. Check it out, you will be very pleased.

    Came here for lunch on a Saturday around noon and we did not leave disappointed, or hungry for that matter! The rueben was great! The 1000 island dressing is 100% homemade and 110% delicious! What I liked the most about this place was the fact that you could taste how fresh everything was from the iced tea to the thick cut fries. With so many places out there taking "short cuts" for faster service, I really appreciate a restaurant that takes the time to do it right.

    I have no idea what the other reviewers saw that I didn't. This restaurant was the most disgusting place I've ever been. I questioned the cleanliness of our our tableware. I ordered a burger, and I could've gotten a better one at McDonalds. It was SOAKING wet and my companion's broccoli was slathered in some grease-water and cooked to mush. I also think my burger bun might have been bought at a grocery store. Nothing was edible, but after a long drive, we were starving. I still couldn't bring myself to eat it and just had to go hungry that night. Everything looked slathered in grease and fat, and it was nasty tasting! Seriously, don't come here if you've ever been to a good diner because you'll be very disappointed.

    My girlfriend and I wanted to get a good breakfast before cedar point we decided to stop here it was so good that we went there for lunch before we left the next day for lunch the perch is great the tarter sauce was a. It strange but homemade none the less I would recommend anyone to go here it's cheap it's great!!

    Best breakfast I've had in a long time. Very friendly atmosphere and wonderfully nice staff. The food was top notch! I ordered enough for two people and gobbled it all myself! If you're a breakfast meat lover like myself, you will love this restaurant. I didn't waste anytime eating up all this good food. It's reasonably priced and oh so delicious! If we are ever back in Ohio, this will be our breakfast spot for sure :)

    Just stayed at the breakers hotel by Cedar Point and was about to leave the Sandusky area but we wanted a good breakfast. So we looked on Yelp for a breakfast place in the Sandusky area and found this place. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with sausage egg and cheese and it was perfect. The French fries were seasoned really well and they made them fresh. However, if there is one thing I would recommend over anything else it would be the chocolate chip pancakes. I don't usually eat pancakes but I decided to try them here and I loved them! Also the service was excellent! The waitresses there were very attentive and swift. I would definitely recommend this to anybody in the Sandusky area!

    While visiting Sandusky in Fall 2011, we accidentally found this place. I'm glad we did, because it was awesome! Great customer service, great homemade cooking and great prices. We returned this past weekend (October 2013) with my best friend and her husband. We stayed in Sandusky on Saturday before heading to Kalahari on Sunday (6th). I'm glad we found this place again. I only gave it 4 stars, because with this past visit, it wasn't as great as the first visit. We were in the back room (which we never knew existed), and it was overly crowded and extremely loud. There were several tables that had 7+ people at. We had to move our table a bit, because my boyfriend kept getting bumped in the back of his chair with the table behind us. It would of been nice if we were up front with all the other smaller parties. At the bottom of the receipt, it showed the amount if you gave15% or 20%, which is awesome!     It's not common for me to give 5*. We always look for a good family run breakfast/diner spot, FOUND IT! Very impressed. The food was fresh and definitely homemade. Served hot and plentiful. The details too numerous to list. Just excellent all around!

    Amazing place! Everything is homemade, including the fries, mushrooms, and onion rings. I had the perch platter and it was delicious. 2 adults and 4 children (3 teens) ate heartily for 75 bucks. No one finished everything. This place is a must if you're in the area!

    First off was greeted warmly on a cold morning by s friendly smiling face. Coffee was brought over right away and was damn good too. Im trying to eat more healthy so when I ordered sn egg white omelette the server asked if I wanted everything cooked in Pam spray. That was awesome of her. My hssh browns were even cooked without oil or butter and tasted awesome. Awesome food awesome staff and great value. You cant ask for more. Highly recommended

    Our table of eight tried everything from the pies to the shredded beef to the potato knoepfle soup and it was all delicious, plus our bill only came to $80 and that included beers and dessert. An unbelievable value for the quality of the from scratch food. I have lived everywhere from Manhattan to Seattle to DC and this place is special - wish we had a place like it at home. Can't wait for my next visit!

    We found this place four years ago on our annual trip to Cedar Point. We're in Sandusky today and had dinner here last night. We loved it so much we left the park at noon and came over and had lunch here just now. Everything was delicious, the three teens loved it and even the vegetarian was happy. Excellent food, very friendly service and reasonable prices. Wish we lived closer, we'd eat here at least once a week. If you're at Cedar Point and are looking for an alternative to high priced park food, this is it and it's only about 4 miles from the park entrance.

    The Donna Omelet was really good! I requested that jalapenos be substituted instead of green peppers-my personal preference. My wife had The Reg, which she loved! My daughters had the Breakfast Croissant and French Toast. We had a great breakfast!

    Found Berardi's on Yelp doing some advance planning for our family's weekend at Cedar Point. This place is an easy drive off the property from C.P. and was a welcome change. They took my reservation for 11 and seated us within 5 minutes - but not how you'd expect. They took my reservation and didn't have the table ready when we arrived. The had a 6-top round next to a booth, which turned out to be great as the adults ate at the round and the kids piled into the booth. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was good. Just be eyes wide open to what to expect. The entrees were all around $9.99 each. I was delighted at the price for a dinner for my family of four, compared to the prices inside Cedar Point. And the french fries were better than described. They were absolutely delicious! All in all a good dinner.

    Left Cedar Point after being rained out. Kids were hungry and I saw the restaurant with lots of cars in the parking lot. Always been a fan of family restaurants. This one tops the list though. No complaints about any of the food. Haley was a very pleasant, profesional and cheerful server. Portions were plentiful and left overs filled up the carry out box. As a season ticket holder to Cedar Point we will be back for sure. Looking forward to trying out their breakfast.

    I've been going here my entire life. Homemade comfort food at a local diner. Known for their fries (that are still served at Cedar Point-not under the Berardi name anymore). They are thick cut, made in peanut oil. Each day of the week is there's a special. Although no vegan desserts, they have pies, cookies, and pastries available. My go-to meal = Char Chicken salad, no chicken with their homemade sweet & sour dressing. Yum!

    A little pricey for a diner but the quality compensates for it. Really good salads and of course their fries are legendary. The only con for me is it seems like when I'm here for lunch the dining area gets really loud. Not sure if it's the acoustics or clientele but it's hard to hear people at my own table and I end up having to raise my own voice to hold a conversation.

    Scoped this place out on Yelp and visited during the latter half of April. So glad we went. We were raving about this place, and I think that's cool because this isn't a fancy place at all. It's comforting, the kind of place you want to go on a bad day, and stare at the desserts till you begin to smile. They print daily specials on a piece of paper and that's a sure fire way to my heart. Especially when it has a layout. Great fries. Great pies. That should be their slogan. Boyfriend had the fried green tomato burger (holy awesome) and I had the cod almondine, which was way better than I expected. Quality fish. Had the Mac and Cheese side, and it was great. Side of sautéed garlicky asparagus. Couldn't pass up desserts. You won't either. We got the apple crisp, and the peanut butter cup pie. Best crisp I've had in awhile, with buttery, near savory crust and cinnamon-y apples. Peanut butter pie was a meringue pie with a chocolate fudge-like layer under the peanut mousse. Amazing! Great place, and decent value also! Can't wait to go back.

    We didn't get to eat a complete meal here but I'm glad we didn't. I ask to order the kids spaghetti for my son but ask to substitute penne or bow tie pasta. He has a hard time picking up spaghetti with a fork and he was very hungry after a day at Cedar Point Amusement park. The waitress tells us that they cant do that because all the pasta is prepared in dishes in the morning. I end up speaking to management who told me the same thing. I said you must have some uncooked penne or bow tie pasta that you could make for him. She says yes but that would take too much time. I explained that he has Down Syndrome and he has a hard time picking spaghetti up with a fork and he is very hungry. Can you please do this for him? The answer was still no, we cant make an exception. I said look, we have to leave if you cant simply throw some pasta in water for him. Again, the answer was no. We had to leave with a hungry kid because this place couldnt do the right thing. So here is an 8 year old with a disability and this lousy place cant bother to make an exception and put some pasta in boiling water for him. Are you freaking kidding me ? This was just plain wrong, there is no other way to put it. I'm disgusted and hope you are too. So we ended up paying for 2 sodas and a milk for my son and left. Since we were told much of the food is made in the morning maybe we were better off going somewhere else.

    Excellent breakfast/brunch. We had a party of seven and everyone was very pleased with their meals. Personally, I thought the biscuits & gravy were fantastic. The apple fritters were delicious as well. One person in the group ordered a lunch sandwich served with fries. I tried a few and they are some of the tastiest fries I've ever had. We were there on a Sunday midmorning. The place was packed, yet we only had to wait a few minutes to be seated. Drinks and meals were served promptly as well. Friendly service. Family-friendly environment. Highly recommend.

    When I visited my hometown last summer, I compiled a photographic ABC's of Sandusky and asked friends for suggestions. More than one person said B = Berardi's. Little did they know, it was already on my list. Just like B = Berardi's, Berardi's itself = french fries. These fries are legen----wait for it----dary! Everyone in town knows them and loves them. Thick-cut, skin-on, deliciousness---made better with some malt vinegar. These are on my list of foods I want at my last meal. Oh, and for those not in the local know, these are the "good" Cedar Point fries. Locals know to get the "good" Cedar Point fries at their originator, Berardi's, but to tourists the fries only exist at three magical stands in Cedar Point. (Only 3 (one on the Midway, one across from the Gemini and one by the diving show/former home of the dolphins), not all fries are equal at Cedar Point.) Beyond the fries, the food is good, classic American homestyle-fare. Nothing experimental, but the classics are tasty. Lots of soups, sandwiches and basic entrees. Good desserts. The early dinner rush is crowded with local seniors. It's the kind of place that locals will inevitably run into someone they know. One flaw is that it's not open too late---dinner ends, restaurant closes. No late night noshes here. If you are in Sandusky, remember B = Berardi's. (There's also another Berardi's location in Huron, OH---next town over. Rumor has it that many of my old high school teachers meet for a weekly lunch. That always makes me chuckle.)

    This review is mostly for the french fries, I have to say, they were quite good! Not the best I have ever tasted, but pretty close! (The best fries I ever had were in Brussels, Belgium. From a practical standpoint it's unlikely I will be in Brussels again, so these will do for those of you US bound!) Large potato wedges with a crispy, slightly nutty tasting exterior (as if cooked in peanut oil), and a white fluffy interior. Delectable with malt vinegar, salt and ketchup, I could make the fries alone meal! Had with the perch sandwich. Perch was OK. Nothing spectacular, but fairly good. Homemade desserts looked delcious, hubby ordered French Silk pie, had a very artificial amaretto flavoring to it. It was topped with a large mound of fluffy, full-fat whipped cream. Daughter had the chocolate chip cookie, which again was OK. Service was excellent. Very friendly waitress and food quick to come to the table. Overall recommend for the french fries alone if you're in this area!

    Visited Sandusky and Cedar Point from Virginia this past weekend and was in search of a diner like this for breakfast on Sunday before we came home. We found Berardi's with a simple google search and had a late breakfast around 11am. It was decently crowded which seemed to be a good sign. The staff was very friendly and the food (southern scramble with corned beef hash) was awesome. The coffee was also good, which seems simple enough but if you've got bad coffee...I'll never return. If I ever return to Sandusky I'll be sure to go back to Berardi's. Great job!

    Visiting Sandusky in April of 2011 and tried out this local family restaurant. Sampled their famous fries and chicken gnocchi soup. Fries were good, soup ok. It's pretty much an upgraded greasy spoon. I had a cranberry chicken salad that was good and my husband had a burger.

    Berardi's has a rich history, as the manager explained to us while we were waiting for our small to-go order of famous fries, lemon meringue pie, and strawberry pie. They began serving fries at Cedar Point amusement park, then opened up off-site locations, while Cedar Point continued to pass off their own recipe as "famous fries." According to the manager, the fries at the park just aren't the same as at this location. We even passed a Berardi's food stand in the back of the parking lot of a small shopping plaza. They specialized in fries and Philly Cheese Steaks according to patrons in line. I saved my appetite for the bricks-and-mortar location though. Since we were on our way to another small meal, we limited our carryout order to fries and dessert, per the recommendation of Yelp reviewers. The friendly staff kept us company while we waited even though they were quite busy. Our fries arrived freshly fried, and desserts looked succulent. We munched on the fries in the car, and they were delectable. Skin-on, thick, fat-finger fries with a pinch of salt. They gave you malt vinegar and ketchup on the side, both of which we used. The $4 order of fries was good, but a little pricey for about 12 fries. The strawberry pie was disappointing, but the lemon meringue was delicious. Overall, the fries are worth the visit. I'm unable to comment on any other menu items besides dessert. Btw, they close at 8pm everyday, so a post-Cedar Point visit is probably out of the question.

    Love everything here! Salads, grilled cheese, gourmet grilled cheese, burgers... everything is great. I love their thick home cut fries. When you walk in the door you're welcomed by their dessert case, it's hard to resist all the yummy options. Every time my sister and I go to lunch we end up meeting here.

    Whenever I go back to Sandusky with my bf for Christmas, we always try to squeeze in a meal with some perch. Being that we're from LA, fried perch is not easy to come by. We usually drop by Berardi's because they have a pretty good perch dinner on the menu and you can get a side of their famous fries as a side. Yum!

    When I was a kid my family used to visit relatives in Sandusky pretty much once every summer, and we always fit in a day at the Cedar Point amusement park. At some point when I was still pretty young, I came to the realization that I was more excited about the food than the rides and attractions-- so I guess it's not surprising as an adult I'd much rather have a good meal in a restaurant than be dropped off the side of a tall building. But besides having common sense, a big reason for my excitement about the food at Cedar Point was that they really had it going on with the corn-dogs, fudge, salt water taffy, slush, pies, etc... and at the very top of the list... French fries. At that time, a lot of the concessions at the park were privately owned vendors, and the French fry stands were run by the Berardis. At some point, then, I'm not sure what year, Cedar Point decided to kick out most or all of the private vendors, no doubt because they thought they could make more profits that way. I guess it's a testimony to the popularity of the Berardi's French fries that Cedar Point tried to replicate them exactly. After all, a person who has paid $40 to wait in line for two hours to have their brain rearranged in its pan aren't likely to get too up in arms if their $5 French fries taste like Micky D's. The good news is that the Berardis went on to open their own restaurant in town-- and this is way back before most of you'all were born-- and it's as solid and dependable as any family restaurant anywhere. The star, of course, is the French fries... but the desserts are also pretty awe-inspiring. The service is always excellent, and the place is as comfortable as a diner with a lot of space. There is a diner spirit to the place, and the reason for that is that it used to be a diner... at one point called the "Stadium Diner" because of its proximity to the Sandusky High School football stadium. It was once known as "The world's largest diner" because it was like two diners placed end to end. Over the years the Berardis have remodeled, added a kitchen and dining room in the back, and altered the facade, but inside you can still see the diner structure, which is kind of fascinating in itself. It always makes me a little sad that diners in the Sandusky area were not more pristinely preserved, but what can you do? As much as I'd like to have it voted into law, at this point no one is required to consult with me before remodeling. The good thing here is that regardless of the history and the architecture, this is the model family restaurant.

    The food is served hot, and the wait staff is friendly. The food, however, is pretty much just your standard diner fare; hearty food with lots of full-fat choices, but nothing fancy. For a diner, we thought the food was a bit pricey; we spent $65 feeding a family of four for dinner. The dinner portions are large. Although the desserts looked good, we passed. Be sure to note the hours of operation; they are not open late the way many other diners are. In all, this just isn't our preferred style of food, so I doubt that we would ever go back for dinner. I think we would enjoy the place much more for breakfast/brunch.

    I grew up in Sandusky and this has always been a high point But coming back to it years later, I find that it very overpriced--especially if you want the perch French fries are good, but the charm has given way to the rip offs of 2011 hope they go back to the old time place

    A little chapel of French Fries. Yeah, they are a full service restaurant, but everybody knew this was the french fry place. The big, hand cut, skin-on-the-ends, served with malt vinegar Berardi's fries that you can get at Cedar Point Amusement Park and here at Berardi's. You're not from Erie County until you've had your Berardi's Fries.
