Visited this place for dinner on a Saturday. Like most places in Oxford you just have to grin and bear the line to get a table. The great part about the set up here is there's an attached bar next door, with separate entrance if you want. There is a separate, lighter bar menu too that was mouth-watering. Found two seats at the bar and we were at our table by the end of our beers. The shrimp starter was delicious with the perfect kick. Will be getting those again for sure. I had the small steak, a 6-oz., that came with too much pepper and seasoning. I would have liked to add pepper to my taste. But at least they had A.1. There are about 1,000 items I want to try off this menu so I will be back. A major plus were the prices were surprisingly reasonable! I would describe it as a classier Texas Roadhouse.

Great service at the bar but downhill from there. Too pricy for offerings and food was average at best.

We had a wonderful experience there as a family after Lakota easy graduation My son and I had 16oz ribeyes in celebration of his bright future. We got there at 5 and were seated right away. Not like mainstream chains. Taylor was a wonderful waitress!!!

Absolutely awful. Took 90 minutes to get 2 out of 5 meals correct. 2 meals were cold. One meal was burned (medium rare steak was gray and dried out it was so over-cooked). Table beside us left before their main course was delivered due to super long wait....had we known, we should have done the same. VERY disappointing on all levels.

We had some astonishingly bad service here. Worse yet the manager spoke to us and acknowledged our order was lost then held up by a large order and did nothing about it. If you are waiting over an hour for food at least give us a free app or drink. Really poor service from management.

Had a good ribeye, good dinner. Waiter excellent. This location is new.

Was excited to finally try this place and my husband and I took seven kids there to eat and were severely disappointed. Not the kind of disappointed where you might consider giving them another shot. The kind of disappointed where we will never waste our money there again. The wait for the food was a bit long. When it finally arrived, 2 of the kids' food were not what they ordered. My steak was supposed to be medium rare and it was medium. I paid extra for blackened seasoning yet there was no flavor to the over cooked steak. My husband's plate had a hair on it and when he attempted to eat his steak he said "this is the worst steak I have ever had" and left the majority of it on his plate. The mashed potatoes and gravy taste like they came from a nursing home cafeteria. Not even the soda was good. Pepsi should be Pepsi, yet somehow they managed to screw that up too. My toddler only ever wants green beans at restaurants and she normally devours two side orders of them. She would not eat the green beans at all. We are not picky people. The was just terrible all the way around.

This is a great place to get steak and potatoes in Oxford. Its a great environment, with plenty of tables and booths. I really like that they also have a "saloon," area that is a bar to order drinks and food if you so desire. Staff is great and they have good prices, but I have to say that I can't give it five stars because I have ordered steak and it hasn't been prepared as ordered. Not always!! Still a great place and I would love to go there on dates and a girls night!!

Finally! A great steakhouse is coming to Oxford. I've been to the one in Washington Court House and the one in Hillsboro. They have amazing ribs.

This place is wonderful! Great food & service. Mac & Cheese was sooo good. Keith was an awesome server! Will be back again.

We were less than impressed with Dakota's. We went on a Friday night, they were not busy. Our server was forgetful and slow. The table ordered an appetizer, steak, chicken, fish, prime rib and cheesecake. The chicken was smothered in nacho-style cheese, it was barely edible. The prime rib was VERY overcooked. The Mac & cheese was cold, dry and flavorless, and the cheesecake tasted like cardboard. The steak was tolerable, but not flavorful. You can cook a much better meal at home for a fraction of the cost. I'd pass on Dakota's.

Horrible. Margarita was poorly made. Wine selection was slim and once we selected one, they were out. Ordered the steak medallions. For $22, extremely disappointing. Steamed vegetables looked so very sad. I def would not return.

Can I first say how amazing it is to have a restaurant in Oxford that is great for families, date night, girls night, and everything in between? My husband and I are obsessed with this place for their Friday night happy hour (it is other nights too but Friday is when we make it). $2 off all apps, beers specials, and margarita specials. I believe it may include a few other things as well. Everything we have ever order has been amazing and the staff is great!

Celebrated husbands birthday there last night. Rib eye Steaks were very fatty. Talapia filets were very thin. Beer was cold. next time we want a good steak we will go to Texas Roadhouse.

We stopped by every night we were in town, mainly because it was walking distance from our hotel, and we were very tired after long days of competition. The wait staff was very friendly - and remembered us when we returned. We enjoyed the food, it was tasty and we didn't leave any for leftovers! We happened to be at the bar (saloon) during 'Green Beer Day'. It is a Miami University tradition of drinking beer all day the Thursday before Spring Break - so it was getting a bit loud in the small bar area!

New menu is better than I even expected it would be! Not only has the food improved, but the service has, too. Great service and great drinks. Definitely one of Oxford's classiest establishments.

Service was very friendly, but the food is horrible. I got the blackened chicken, but the chicken was way too dry and the vegetables were very bland. My friend got the shepherd's pie, but it was unlike any shepherd's pie I've ever seen. It was a gelatinous mess of light brown gravy with hardly any vegetables or meat. We only went here because it was by the hotel. So if you have a choice, don't go here.

Our waitress was great but our food was mediocre! My burger was burnt, fries cold and the ones they brought out to replace them were lukewarm. Rolls were the best part of the meal. The salmon meal was okay. We should have gone to Chick-Fil-A next door! At least they serve hot food and we wouldn't have spent $100 on bad food!

Great place to go with family that opened recently. Disappointed to have noticed that they are closed on Thursdays as that is a prime time to get a bite to eat and reward yourself after a week of hard exams!

  • Rose G.

Has a south kitsch vibe, pretty good food. I tried a $13 burger and it was well-cooked. The biggest problem was the small portion size and extremely slow service. It took about 45 minutes to receive our food and it even took longer for the waitress to clear the food left over at another table from people who had left over an hour ago. They left right as we got there and finally cleared the table as we were leaving.

I met a friend here for lunch. It was good, not great. We both enjoyed our meals - he had a sandwich and I had a salad. However, I must echo what other reviewers have said - the service was not good. We were only the second table to come in that day and man, am I glad. If it had actually been busy, we might have left. It seems like they don't have a clear delineation of duties for the staff. No one seemed sure if they should seat us, get our waters, come back by to take our order, etc. From start to finish, the service was haphazard, slow, and just plain "meh". Not bad, certainly not good, just enough attention so we didn't complain. None of the employees were cheerful or acted particularly happy to be there. But I give three stars because the food was good and its Oxford. FYI - average, bare-minimum-type service is the norm in our little burg, at least at lunch time. Supposedly, they have a good happy hour. I'd probably go back, if someone else picked it.

It's a steakhouse and saloon in one. I enjoyed my steak salad and also appreciated the variety of beers on tap for an Oxford restaurant.

We had a reservation and still had to wait 10 minutes. When we were seated we had to wait 90 minutes for our food to come. All the reviews about long wait and over priced food are correct. Good food but not worth the wait and price.

    (2)
  • Erin M.

Love the food. Very nice staff but everything takes them longer than it should. Takes about 10 minutes just to get your drinks after ordering them. Never really busy but they always run so slow.

  • Paul S.

Arrived around 5PM on a Tuesday and it was not crowded at all - maybe people seated at 3 other tables. That said, service was still bad. Took 20 minutes to get a beer. Waiter kept saying he was "checking" on my beer and he had to wait for the foam to go down. Well while he was waiting, another waiter grabbed my beer and served it to someone else. Manager was apologetic but did not offer anything - I had to ask for some kind of compensation. We agreed on a free appetizer, but by that time, our meals were ready so we settled for free desert. Food was mixed. My steak was cooked perfectly and very tasty. My dates sirloin tips were rubbery. I nursed the one beer with my meal since I figured I would be ready to leave before a second one would arrive. May try it again, but I will walk up to the bar and get my own beer rather than rely on a waiter to serve it to me.

Nice and Clean, My steak was cooked almost perfect, my baked potato was luke warm, the bartender was gone for a few so I didn't send back. the cole slaw was dry. Staff was very friendly.

I have been to this place twice. Both times have been disappointing. Last time I ordered the cajun fish and my wife ordered steak tips. The steak tips arrived on a room temperature skillet, and my fish was VERY lightly dusted with seasoning. Hard to tell it was Cajun at all. Also, the portion of rice that came with the fish was very small, and the steamed vegetables looked frozen. I was REALLY hoping this place would be good. I will try it again and update this if things improve.

first time tonight. They had a special supposedly for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday but RAN out! The waiter said they were not substituting the item. The waiter LOST our order and had to retake it.....BUT I asked for the manager, and she was very generous in crediting us and actually giving a little more than a substation...entrees were only $10, 15% off bill and a free appetizer...I WILL GO BACK. the pretzel appetizer was the best I have had in a long time...My steak and sweet potato were PERFECT and very delicious. Because the manager did everything she could to make things right and because the food WAS delicious I will be back again......

Given a wait time of 45 min., so went to bar... Empty table there and were seated immediately. Prime rib for two of us, fish for the third. All delicious. Appetizer of blooming onion excellent. We will definitely go again!
