You will definitely get your money's worth here! My personal favorite is the calzone with spinach. It's not on the menu, but they will make it for you if you ask. Very yummy food!

I was here in Massillon visiting my family who always RAVE about Smiley's. I didnt have the chance to eat at the restaurant but my family brought home take out. It was super SUPER good! The pizza was cheezy and so wonderful! The fries were thick and well cooked and the salad was amazing! They even gave my parents some soup to eat while they waited for their pizza! I hope I have a chance before I leave to eat here again!

This reminds me of the awesome authentic Italian American cuisine that I had a chance to experience while visiting Brooklyn, NY in April, 2011. I've been to Smiley's with my family several times since 2005.

Chef Boyarde called, he wants his canned Marinara sauce back! Would it kill someone to get some fresh tomato sauce up in this place? I just ate at this place with my wife, and father in law. Disappointing is probably the best word to describe the experience. To be fair, the Garlic Rolls are baked fresh and really great. As well, their house italian dressing is delicious. But when you consider the gross basic iceberg in a bowl or the cup of red sauce to ruin your delicious bread with, again disappointing comes to mind. We ordered the Baked Ziti, Stromboli, and spaghetti with meatballs. The pasta was very over cooked in both dishes, there was a strange seasoning/flavor...maybe an imitation garlic/rancid butter flavor...again, disappointing. Again, very reminiscent of a reheated can of Chef Boyarde...GROSS. Honestly, if this place would decrease their cooking time of the pasta and make a fresh sauce with fresh herbs, Smiley's would be 1000% better.

I used to eat here weekly when I lived in massillon. Great lunch specials. For$6 you can get a pasta special that will leave you stuffed. However, my favorite here is their pie. Definately the best in masssillon. Raja has ran this business well for a very long time.. oh ya I almost forgot... when the rolls are fresh they are one of the best I ever had!! In response to CA's review... if you got microwaved slices.. you musta been an asshole upon entering smileys establishment.

I would love to give this place a better review, because I almost feel like it deserves it. They do things right here - portions are big, food is homemade, and prices are very good. However, I have to be objective so I am going with three stars. I started with the calamari, and for the price they were impressively big. Average amount of breading but a good sized piece of calamari in each piece. It was no question overcooked and just a bit tough, but still enjoyable. The Stromboli was enormous. My wife and I didn't even come close to finishing it. The dough was phenomenal, by far the best part. It was not overly thick, and you don't just get a mouthful of bread...which is a must for me regarding Stromboli. The cheese ratio was good, but I could have used a bit more meat in there. Also, the ham in it made it remind me a bit "hot pockety" (yes, I'm making up words). Despite that I will get it again. I am looking forward to trying a pasta dish next time, but for this experience it's still a thumbs up.

You know when walking in a place, based on how the staff interacts whether its a good place to work and this eat. Smileys looks to be both. The staff is great, they like what they do, and it shows in the food. Not high end by any means but solid Italian staples. They also had a great stuffed pepper soup which is rare. I had a sausage parm sandwich which was great. Very reasonably priced, quality food served and prepared by folks who would be fun drinking a beer with.

Nice place. Very friendly staff and the bread is baked very fresh. Could be so much better if they used fresh toppings on their pizza! Canned mushrooms, etc. :/ A bit of a fly problem as well.

Smiley's is the #1 place in Massillon if you are hungry for some good old fashioned Italian cooking. There Stromboli is untouchable by comparison, I would also highly recommend there grilled chicken sandwich - it is massive!

The pasta dishes are better than expected. Large fresh dinner rolls and a nice selection or beer and some wine. Not a fan of the NY style pizza but wonderful overall

For a small town Italian restaurant, this place is great. Their rolls are seriously some of the most delicious rolls I have ever tasted, and they always come with your meal. Their pizzas here are pretty good too. Nothing fancy, just classic pizza toppings and a pretty good crust. I've actually never had their sandwiches, because I almost always get their pasta. They have one dish that is ADDICTING - rigatoni alla toscana. I have no idea what's in it, and I've googled like crazy to try and find a similar recipe for when I'm not in my hometown, but to no avail. It is sooooooooooooo good. This isn't a fancy Italian place, but it's a wonderful family style Italian place none the less.

I would give it 10 stars if that were an option. Smiley is awesome, food is unbelievable and great prices to boot. It's my favorite local restaurant.
