Yay I am a fan! I took a chance on Chan's and here is what happened: I have low expectation of Chinese and try to avoid Chinese restaurants altogether. I used to o sell food for a wholesaler to restaurants and the things I would see would well keep you away. I took a chance on Chan's. There are 3 parts to a Chinese fast t restaurant. 1.One is the dinning area where the public sits and this area was clean, had a modern up to date look, it wasn't the usual bright lights, Formica style tables, cheap chairs and bad art. It was nice and it was clean. The public area showed they put some thought into how it presented. Nice wood grains plenty of light and not that tired worn out look. Dinning area impacts the enjoyment and they pass with strong performance. 2. The kitchen, is it clean? The iffy part for a Chinese restaurant is the kitchen. Kitchen can be festering cess pools of ewww. I have seen horrible kitchens beyond belief. There is a curtain between the front and the kitchen, but the curtain is see through, in good condition and the kitchen is clean. No excessive clutter, no nasty floors and or work spaces in sight. Big points for that. This is massive plus +++ 3. The food, of course the food. Too many choices so I ended up with beef and peppers, pepper steak and rice, The green pepper and onion was fresh, the beef was good. I've had beef, we all have had beef you chew forever and well ... the produce used in the food preparation was fresh, firm solid, not old or over cooked. The beef was good too. Not rubbery and chewy. It tasted good,i it tasted fresh. My caution on Chinese restaurants still remains, I have seen too much but my enthusiasm for Chan's is real and I will go back. They are located in a hyper competitive area with many food choices, located next to the Kroger store this little place is doing so many things right you must try them out. Perfect for informal dinning that is quick but not fast food. It is so much better. My note to the owners of Chan's you have a very nice restaurant and deserve many customers and hopefully the ability to earn a nice living from your efforts. Job very well done. 4 stars, solid 4 stars maybe 4 1/2 even.

I've been coming here for years. i drive past several Asian restaurants just to go to Chan's because the food is always very good. Service is quick, and everything is clean, that I can see. bathrooms are always in good condition. I love the friendly service and staff. I LOVE the place mats that depict several languages meaning that this place embraces culture and religion which shapes our history and culture. I like that they make this place their own unique venue. Bravo! My favorite Chinese Restaurant of all time. I will be back for sure.

I've been to this place probably 5 times now, as it makes for very quick dinners when I'm stuck at work until all hours. There's no denying that the food here is premade. They do a decent business, and most of the meats are common, so they're probably just constantly cooking meat, then adding sauces. You can get your order in minutes. My first few times here I was impressed with the meat quality, though. Perhaps I was ordering non-breaded dishes, but it was tender white meat chicken. Then I tried the beef, and don't think I'd do that again. Then, most recently, I ordered a breaded chicken meal. As typical to cheap, terrible Chinese joints, it was about 95% breading and 5% "chicken." I couldn't even identify the chicken as chicken, and there was extremely little of it. If you go here, stick with chicken, unbreaded. The sauces are heavy, sweet, and likely very heavily caloric, but the white meat chicken is ok. The breaded "chicken" was so gross, though, that I'm uncertain about giving this even 2 stars, despite having 3 pretty decent meals here.

Well, other reviewers really disliked this place, but my boyfriend and I get take out from here all the time. The food is not spectacular, but it is good. The service is good and always the same because we get the same cashier every time. I really like this place because it is very close to where I live and the food is made pretty fast. Have never dinned in here and won't plan on it. As for take out, it is pretty decent.

Stick to Chinese food at this place. Their Pad Thai chicken and Korean chicken plates were lackluster. We could taste faint Thai and Korean influences but the meal was not close enough for either myself or my husband. The crab Rangoons were authentic and did appear to have real crab meat. It is a classic Chinese appetizer, and they sure did it right.

Went here when everything else was closed already (they are open til 11PM) and I must say that it was pretty good. I liked the wonton soup and the lo mein combo. Nothing special but tastest good and I had definately worse Chinese takeout food. Also was not as fatty as other Chinese buffets/takeouts.

Asian Wok is a family owned establishment in the heart of Mason. The lunch menu is very reasonably priced, servers are polite, and food is typical Chinese food. I wouldn't quite say it's something special, but it sure beats most Chinese buffets. I plan on going back quite often for lunch.

Here were the two reviews I saw, thanks to Chan's website, before I arrived: 1) Chan's is one of the top 100 Asian restaurants in the United States. 2) "In fact, everything I had there was above average." Stop me if I'm wrong, but these two reviews leave a relatively large gaping hole for differing experiences. I'm pretty sure my experience fell somewhere in the middle. My parents, boyfriend and I decided to eat here for my birthday, which was a slightly unusual choice for a special birthday dinner. We were all pretty stoked, however, since we were hoping to see why this spot had been named one of the top 100 Asian restaurants in the US. We arrived around 8:00. There were two other tables of people there and we were seated right away by a young guy who was very nice. He brought us water right away and was very friendly. However, our waitress was blatantly peeved that we chose a slightly later hour to eat-in. (They were open until 11 the night we were there, so I'm not sure why she had so much attitude.) She begrudgingly brought us various items that our table was lacking (silverware, extra plates, napkins) as if we were truly demanding too much of her. The food was very good. We had egg rolls, pot stickers, and crab rangoon for appetizers. All very, very tasty. I had the Kung Po chicken, which was definitely good but not awe-inspiring. I would give this place four stars for its food--very good Asian food for Cincinnati and definitely better than simply above average, but the service was really so cold and unwelcoming (which seemed greatly at odds with the Christian signs of good will that were on our place mats) that it altered our experience. Ironically, my mom's fortune cookie suggested, "Putting a smile on your face can change your day." We thought about leaving it for our waitress, since it was clearly meant for her!

I wanted to get delivery, but they said since they didn't have enough orders for delivery it was only available for take out. They were nice enough to give me 15% off of my order though! I got egg rolls, crab rangoon, and orange chicken. I thought the staff was friendly and quick/efficient. The food was good for quick chinese take out, I would order from here again.

My personal preference is to not have to sit at a table with place mats depicting hands clasped in prayer as every table had in this restaurant. But that's just me. The food has Chinese (and Thai) names but it really is not authentic Chinese food. I ordered the orange chicken and hot and sour soup. The soup was only marginal and the temperature was warm rather than hot. The orange chicken seemed as though it had been precooked and heated up for the lunch and it was not up to standards. The sauce was thick and the food much too heavy. I finished the soup (I was hungry) but could not eat more than a couple of bites of the orange chicken. The manager offered to replace my dish when we asked for the bill, but I respectfully declined. He gave me his card with the offer of a free dinner the next time we visited. But it won't be used. The only reason we stopped there for lunch was we found our favorite ever Chinese restaurant unexpectedly closed on a Monday and were desperate for food. I am sure this restaurant has a place in this world but just not in my world. My guess is the food is prepared for some odd idea of how Americans think Chinese food should be. But having traveled extensively and lived in Asia, I feel safe to write that this comes close only in the names of the dishes. I can tell you where to get authentic and delicious Chinese food in this area.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
