Diabetics at Whataburger

Diabetics need to be a bit cautious while dining at Whataburger. Almost every burger is rich in sodium content and it is highly recommended to keep your burger cravings in control while dining at Whataburger. However, you can always satisfy your cravings for a burger by choosing Whataburger Jr. or other non-burger items from the menu.

Calorie intake is the main concern for people with high cholesterol while dining at a fast-food restaurant like Whataburger. Opting for grilled sandwich or burgers are preferred compared to double meat or triple meat cheesy burgers which contain high cholesterol.

Took my wife here couple weeks ago she liked it. I had the trio fajita to me the meal was not on the high class level that the restaurant portrays itself as and the lemonade was Countrytime.

Nothing mind-blowing about my lunch experience at Abuelo's, but I would definitely come back if I'm in the area. The lunch specials are a good deal considering how much food you get. I would've been stuffed like a turkey if I'd eaten more chips and salsa, which they'll refill. I got the enchilada lunch and picked the chicken and spinach. I love the spinach--it's very creamy. The chicken was chunky and too dry/bland for my taste. Apparently the shredded steak is the most popular. They come with refried beans, and I swear there is something magical about those refried beans. Never known them to be that good before. Don't forget to grab a chocolate mint (or handful) on your way out.

Haven't been to Abuelo's in quite some time and decided to have lunch there today with my husband. Food is always hot, service is never the best but since I'm in the restaurant industry that doesn't matter much to me. We had the dip sampler to start which is delicious. I had the chicken chimichanga and my husband had some sort of enchilada dinner. The food always comes out smoking hot and correct. We can never figure out why this place is always slow for lunch and other restaurants in the area who serve food with no flavor are always so busy? Oh well...another great meal. Abuelo's is one of our favorites in the area.

Great chips, fresh, thin crispy, and green salsa was excellent. Margaritas were very refreshing. the enchilada lunch was a terrific value at 6.99. Our server, corrine was pleasant and attentive. You must come out to the west coast. I promise, you will make oodles of money and a lot of people happy!

Very good chain Mexican food. A step up from many of the Mexican resteraunts in the area (much better than Don Palos by far). We have been several times. Love their light crispy chips and dipping sauces for them. I have had a couple of different dishes and have been happy with the food. The atmosphere is nice and classier than the average local Mexican choices (such as El Picante). The service we have received has been very good. Very attentive. Friendly. I would recommend.

We went there a few nights ago and the food was just so-so. Salsas were pretty tasty but that's about it. Queso was like Velveeta and rotel. We ordered the Carne Asada tacos and they were dry and flavorless. Very disappointing.

We go here about 5 or 6 times a year. The service is just consistently great. Staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and fast. I have had more authentic Mexican, but the food is always tasty and the portions are generous for the price. The atmosphere is casual family fun, albeit a little loud. When they ask what sides you want, you should always say PAPPAS!!!

I always judge a Mexican place by the quality of their rice, and I'm not particularly impressed with it. Definitely Americanized and very chain, no different than the other national ones. Service isn't bad though. Birthdays get you a free flan, and it's really more of a custard than a flan (much sweeter). Overall, not a bad place if you want melted cheese stuffed over melted cheese, but Mexican it isn't. There are better Mexican restaurants out there.

My girlfriends and I went here tonight. I'm giving this a one simply for the food, I thought it was great. We got to the restaurant shortly after 9:15 (they close at ten). When one of my girlfriends questioned if she was going to eat the host was quick to say, "you should get something to help the server out." My girlfriends and I are all servers and bartenders, ready to spend money. We were quickly rushed in a rude manor by our waiter. Then when we ordered, we got -- that's it? We were just trying to go out and have a good time. We got our food before ten and quickly began to eat. Then the worst part happened; Lights turned on and someone yelled last call. The restaurant was dark, the lights turning on was a clear indication to get out. I couldn't believe it, we were there spending money just a couple minutes after close. I don't think that's anyway to treat well mannered paying customers.

This place has pretty good food, for americanized mexican. It is far from authentic. It's similar to Don Pablos or Chi Chi's. Their enchiladas are pretty good. I like their many sauce options. We went for my birthday, and they gave me a free flan that was delicous.

I haven't been particularly impressed by the food here--my co-workers are fond of the drinks, and the ambiance/service is nice, so I wouldn't say it's a bad place to go to relax with friends. I do have one question: what is a "Food Embassy?" And how did it come to be owned by a grandfather? I cannot speak so diplomatically of the food--it's just not good here. By no means am I an expert on Mexican food but I know that refried beans shouldn't look craggy and dried/crusted onto the plate. Also, the consistency of the rice was oily yet clumpy--like it had been microwaved a few times. The Nogales Enchiladas I can only describe as too strong in that they were salty, acidic, and lacking in the simplicity that I associate with Mexican food. If you work close by, it's no better or worse than the surrounding restaurants, but I'd rather spend my money to enjoy food that seems to have been prepared with a little less pomp and a lot more pride.

This establishment sits among a slew of restaurants north of Cincinnati. Very high end appearance. I sat at the bar and ordered the chips and salsa as a starter. Excellent salsa, I mean really good. I ordered the chicken stuffed with Chorizo and cheese, lightly fried. It tasted very good but it was not lightly fried. The rice and beans were also very good. The sauce they provided for dipping the chicken was an artificial cheese sauce blend, big dagger by my standards. The red wine had gone past it's shelf life but it was still drinkable. Service was very good. Okay price/value. I will be back to try other entrees.

Agree with Josh R., although my experience and review was at Crestview Hills location. Food is just not that great...nothing out of the ordinary and Americanized. You're better off at the smaller hole in the wall places for sure.

I have dined here twice. The first time was about 5 years ago, and we did not like it all all. I wanted to give it another try, so we went a couple of weeks ago. Still did not like it at all. Food is kind of generic and chain-ey. Reminds me of a Mexican Applebees. Bland, no attempt to be authentic, nubbed salsa. Service was also pretty poor. They were busy, and I'm pretty forgiving, but we couldn't get refills, the check, you know the drill. Learned my lesson on the second try - a chain restaurant in the middle of other chain restaurants - is probably not going to be very tasty. Just isn't. Sorry.

I am on the endless search for the happy hour bargain, so when date night rolled around we decided to try out Abuelo's. Happy hour is from 4 - 7 with special menu and pricing at the bar. They have tables at the bar area as well so you can bring the kids for some great tapas. We sat at the bar, Amber was very informative. Beth my girlfriend is a margarita queen so after talking with Amber she decided on the Grande Special Margarita for $4.50, I got the grande margarita swirl for $4.50. Both were huge and were delicious, neither tasted like just mix ( i hate it when a place offers cheap margaritas and there just mix). We got the standard chips and salsa when we sat down, you can request the spicy salsa which i did, love me the hot stuff. We shared the queso sampler, which was huge! The queso dip and avacado cream dip were wonderful, the diablo dip tasted like weird chilli so i wouldn't suggest it. Then we had the seared ahi that came with a horseradish and chile lime dressing. It was presented like a salad and i got to admit was really really great. This is defiantly a go to tapas for us. Both items were $4, and for seared ahi, you can't beat that! parking was nice, the wait staff were wonderful, Amber the bartender knew her drinks and was also great with conversation. If your looking for a nice quite place for happy hour go here, i was shocked at how few people were partaking in the great deals!

The food here was absolutely delicious and they have a lot of great options too. The pre-meal chips were too thin for my taste. The drinks were terrible. I had 2 margaritas and they were so weak, they just tasted like juice. I even asked for an extra shot in the 2nd and it was no good. Go for the food, not the drinks.

This is a place that my wife and I love to go for a dinner date - but this time we thought we'd bring the kids with us. We have a couple of small ones so sometimes family dinner nights out can get interesting! That being said, we couldn't have had a better experience. We had Megan as our server, she was really attentive, very knowledgeable about different menu options and had an answer for all our questions. My cup was never empty! The kids menu is mostly what you would expect, but with a little Tex-Mex flair. This is another area where Megan really came through for us. My little dude is not a fan of fries - and he would starve before he would eat rice and beans. We asked her for some options and she was able to suggest some things (not a on the kids menu) that worked out great for him - all with a smile and great attitude. My only reservation here is that the kids menu was a little pricy for what you get. Now that we've got all the kiddie stuff out of the way lets talk food. Abuelos has a pretty extensive menu that ranges from what you would expect from a Mexican restaurant and some more creative options. Like any Mexican restaurant they serve chips while you wait for your meal, unlike most of their competition they serve 3 amazing salsas with them. You're going to want to try each of these because they're each very flavorful. Tonight I ordered steak Fajita Chimichangas with rice and papas con chile. That's an example of one their more creative items, and it was delicious. It came loaded with queso and that was just fine by me. I would recommend this place to anyone, whether it's a night out for two or if you're bringing the whole family.

Horrible food here. I ordered lunch portion shrimp fajitas and they arrived with a dash of cheese a spoon of salsa and a lime. My shrimp had barbecue sauce on it (what the hell?) the shrimp was the smallest shrimp I've ever seen and it was majority onions. Save your money and don't come here.

Expensive prices for canned food. I ordered the $16 fajita for one. They came out with 98% onions and 2 slivers of green bell peppers. I ask the waitress about it and she said that was normal but she would bring me out more peppers. She indeed brought me out peppers but they were raw and cold. They didn't even bother to grill them. The salsa tastes as if it was made with can tomatoes. The sweet tea is awesome and would have been worth $3 if I could have gotten it refilled. The food has a lot to be desired as well as the serve. When we left the hostess didn't even thank us or say bye. Will not return.

Before I tie into this joint, a little background on what qualifies me to pass judgement... I'm 41 years old, born and raised in California. For my first 22 years I spent my life in the southern part of the state and grew up in a largely Hispanic neighborhood. Further more I've a significant percentage of Mexican blood pumping through my corazon (heart in Ohioan). I grew up on Mexican food. Mi Abuela, who didn't speak a word of English cooked for me till I was a teenage vato and she would ashamed of the food coming out of this kitchen. Perhaps I need to take into consideration the geographic location of the state/restaurant and its distance from Mexico before condemning this place to a two star review but if you're taking the time to read my thoughts, you might consider that I gave five stars to a Mediterranean joint in Blue Ash and I'm pretty sure that Greece is further away than Mexico. But I digress. I'll start with their menu. It must be 18-20 pages long. Immediately something is rotten in Denmark/Mexico. You can't have a menu that length and maintain quality. Trim it down by a 3rd and focus on what remains and you'll produce better quality food. I ordered a plate of 3 enchiladas. Enchiladas, evidently enchiladas are their specialty because they have 19 varieties on their menu. The carnitas was soupy (eww), The shredded beef was ok, and the chicken seemed to be boiled in salt water (again, eww). The green chili sauce, that I prefer was pretty good, however it was coagulated and crusted over by the time it arrived to my table. My wife ordered a shredded beef taco and cheese enchilada. She wasn't as dissapointed as I was but agreed that there's no need for us to return. My daughter had a plain cheese quesadilla and french fries, no complaints from her. They've got the melting cheese and hot oil thing perfected I suppose. Is it the worst Mexican food I've ever had? Not by a long shot, hence the two stars. But we waited 30 minutes to be seated, and by the time we left there was still a line out the door. The music, statues, and decor made no sense to me, I just don't understand. If you don't know Mexican food, check it out, perhaps you'll disagree. However, if you do, let me know where I can find some in Cincinnati, cause this isn't the place.

This food was absolutely delicious! My wife ordered the Sangria and Pork tenderloin. The pork was tender with the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. They also serve complimentary chips and 3 types of salsa (2 tomato based & 1 tomatillo based?) My server was attentive and I would definitely visit again for happy hour. Ambience 5/5 Price 5/5 Food 4/5 Overall Experience 4/5

Love the green salsa and like that they bring you 2 baskets of chips at a time. Service was good, food was good, restaurant is nice inside. Wish you got more tortillas with the chicken fajitas... 3 small tortillas but was still a good amount of food. I'd recommend this place as it's usually pretty good, not fantastic but is there such a thing as fantastic Mexican? Mexican food is also known as astronaut food cause everything can be squeezed out of a tube but for Mexican this place is a step above others. It's like a higher class of Mexican which is an oxymoron by itself. Give it a shot but be prepared to wait on Friday or Saturday nights as it's not a huge place inside.

I heard good things about abuelo's from family and friends so I was excited to get to try it for a work dinner. We started with a round of margs, which tasted like they were made with store bought margarita mix and were not impressive. The three salsas were good. I really enjoyed the salsa Verde and the spicier red salsa. We also ordered the jalapeño poppers and stuffed mushrooms for appetizers. I could have eaten the jalapeño poppers all night- yum! I was really impressed with their menu overall. It has typically texmex fare of burritos, enchiladas, etc. But also had some more interesting platter options. I almost chose the one with avocado enchiladas topped with a white wine sauce and three types of seafood, but I wasn't sure that I could eat that much. Another nice thing at Abuelo's is the option for smaller portions on some entrees. I opted for stuffed chicken medallions in the smaller plate. I can't say I was overly excited about it, the cheesy flavor definitely overpowered the chorizo. Overall, the food options impressed me much more than the actual taste experience, but I'd be willing to give Abuelo's another try just for their more creative approach to texmex.

We've eaten here at least 6 times over the past few years, and the service remains good but the food quality and particularly the plating and presentation skills have taken a big slide downwards. Consistently the past few times here they've brought out our dinner plates that look like a blind person dished it up for the table (no offense intended to blind people whatsoever). Good salsa, good Mexican potato casserole (addicting), but as others have stated, dumbed down Mexican for dumbed down American taste buds. Can't recommend. Try Fiesta Brava just down the street instead for a better experience and a lot less chingaling! I must admit though, Abuelo's has a superior atmosphere to any local Mexican restaurant so it's a nice date spot and has some pizazz and charm. Get your QC back in place Abuelo's.

We had such a terrible experience! Besides the overpriced food the nachos we terrible, and gave you a small proportion considering the price. On top of that we had terrible service! She was rude and slow. It took 15 minutes to bring me back my change, after I payed. Even my eight year old noticed the service and he never says anything. Really disappointed, I was really hoping this would be good!

Every part of our meal was perfect! We came @ 4PM which obviously meant no crowds...always a plus! Our server was great - very attentive, but didn't hover. We each got a margarita which were delicious - not too strong, not too weak, and very smooth! We got an appetizer of the jalapeno bites which were excellent and not too filling. Lastly, we tried the Durango burrito and the beef and cheese chimichangas - both with beans and papas con chili. The meals were FANTASTIC! Piping hot, very flavorful and extremely filling! The prices were reasonable for the portions and quality of the food. You also get the typical chips and salsa (3 kinds of salsa, all delicious)! Will definitely come back!

This afternoon, my girlfriend and I went to Abuelo's for a late afternoon lunch. We were greeted by the hostess and seated in a booth. My girlfriend had never been, and I was excited to introduce her to the usually delicious food. However, we sat at the booth for a full 15 minutes and no one came to greet us or take our order. They have the electronic menu interfaces on the table and we tried to page the server from the device, yet no one came. After waiting 15 minutes for a server and watching multiple employees walk past the table, we decided to leave. Perhaps worst of all, the hostess told us to have a nice day, despite the fact that no new guests had entered the restaurant since our arrival. The fact that she couldn't sense something was awry speaks to the lack of attention paid by the employees to guests. I have never had such a problem at this restaurant but it may be enough to prevent a return in the future.

To start We asked if we could have a booth instead of a table and the lady under her breath said B--- S--t. Then our food came out and looked like pig slop on the plate. I took a picture of the monterey and looked at what it looked like on their web site (big difference) ,I mentioned that the food looked like someone dumped it on the plate and poured cheese over the plate and the server and she said that it depends on whos cooking what the food looks like.. I could not get a refill on my mixed drink so I went to the bar and in the middle of making my drink the bartender stopped and started talking with her friends and she got my drink order wrong... I do have to admit that lunch is not that bad, but I will never return for dinner......Frustrated!!!

My wife, I and 3 year old son have dined here once before and the food and service were pretty good. However, yesterday we dined here for lunch and we did not have a good experience... You may want to avoid a booth by the window because we saw string of about 10 ANTS coming from the window along the wall near our table and the table behind us crawling along the wall. My son was sitting near the wall and we had to move him to a booster seat so he was able to concentrate on eating and not saying 'ants on the wall' and being a little scared. My food and my son's food turned out good, but my wife's food did not. She ordered a dish with fajita chicken chopped up in a soft shell. She is also pregnant so she always makes sure her meat is cooked through and there is no pink in her chicken and mostly any red meat. However, this chicken that came out was undercooked the more and more she cut into it. The waiter was very nice and took it off our tab and apologized several times for the ANTS and the food being undercooked. He said he notified the manager about the undercooked dish and hte ants, however the manager never came over personally to apologize for anything, which I found rather gutless. Normally if something is messed up, the restaurant manager comes over and apologizes personally, however, the manager was no where to be found, so who knows if he really cared. The food isn't anything spectacular either and our experience yesterday will confirm that we will never go back ever again.

The food is definitely more Tex-Mex here. And pretty standard. I got the standard fajitas, as I was pretty hungry. The bonus is here they don't charge for guacamole, and all the sides are separated, instead of piled on top of each other. The guac is a little sweeter here, which is weird, but good. I'm just not a fan. What saves this place though is the service and the salsa!. The chips and salsa come out right away, and you get 3 different types; the standard, the hot, and a green salsa. The green is a little sweeter, different but surprisingly good! The hot has too much of a kick for me, but I'm a whimp when it comes to spicy. But the regular salsa is amazing! I loved it, it was reminisent of my mom's homemade salsa. No tomatoey jar stuff here. We had a great waitress as well, Ingrid. She was on top of everything! Refils, more chips, food, before we even had a chance to ask! She was incredibly friendly and really took care of her people.

We've gone here a few times and we've never been disappointed. The prices are reasonable considering the amount of food you get and considering that similar Mexican food chains have drastically reduced their portion sizes while increasing their prices (eh hum, Don Pablos). I have gotten their fajitas before and I always leave with enough for another meal or two. The last time we went I ordered the enchiladas and they were delish. I recommend the Avocado Enchilada-- different, creamy, tasty! I'm not a big fan of refried beans and mexican rice that usually comes as the standard sides with meals at these chain restaurants so I opted for the black beans and cilantro-lime rice instead. Not as good as Chipotle's version of the rice but still yummy. The chips are my favorite-- super thin, light, and crispy.

It was pretty standard Mexican food. The service was good and we didn't have to wait for a table. The inside was very different on the way it was setup. It was set like a court yard with a blue sky painted on the ceiling. If you just want a basic Mexican food in a nice setting then stop here.

We have eaten here about six times. Every meal has been excellent. I really liked the Beef Chimichanga I had recently. The Presidential Margherita was outstanding. For the aged like ourselves there's also a great senior selection on the menu with good savings. This is truly a great place for folks who don't think they like Mexican Food!

I really did want to like this place a lot more. It's got a really nice interior and decor, sort of an open air dining feel inside of a building... if that makes any sense... The service was excellent, clearly a product of a solid chain training program. But the food. What can I say? I sort of thought the advent of the traditional Mexican places overtaking the market, this sort of "tex mex" chain fare was gone... Tumbleweeds, Don Pablo's, et al. The menu was straight from the Don Pablo's playbook - at a premium in price to boot. And it was just about the same league sitting on my plate. I can get stellar Mexican at any number of places for a fraction of the cost of Abuelo's. This place is NOT the "Mexican Food Embassy" by any stretch of the imagination... unless you're solely talking about downtown Cancun - where the college crowd has seen fit to create demand for more American chains like Pizza Hut and such... It's in a great area because I think it will certainly appeal to the immediate locals but it's not going to make its way onto my "gotta go there again" list anytime soon.

Not very good at alll. As inauthentic as you can get. If you want to eat real Mexican food try Maya Taqueria in the Lens Crafters strip mall adjacent to the Kings Auto Mall. Yummy tamales, tacos in corn flour tortillas, goat meat soup (though no Goats Head Soup for you Rolling Stones fans), and other fine authentic delicacies. Try it. You'll never hit up Abuelos again!!!!

This restaurant has a nice interior decor with good tasting chips and salsa. The avocado enchilada was delicious but the carnitas tacos were just OK. The prices were a bit high but still not unreasonable. The service was below average. The staff looked like they did not enjoy working at Abuelo's at all. They were cold and borderline rude.

Pretty much what you'd expect at a chain restaurant. The food was good but nothing to get crazy about. The margaritas were satisfying but a little pricey. I ordered the enchiladas and tried out the cheese, chicken, and the avocado enchiladas. All were tasty, but the avocado one really caught my attention. I love avocados and was surprised to see them stuffed in an enchilada. It was creamy and unique and I really enjoyed it. The beans and rice that came with the meal were not the best I've tasted and were not the traditional kind you'd expect to see with Mexican food. The best part of the restaurant is the atmosphere. It has a really great setting; like sitting in a courtyard and it was all very inviting.

TexMex. Small step up from a Don Pablo's. Very disappointed in the authentic recipe Margarita (Tequila, agave nectar and lime juice). Tasted like straight lime syrup, no tequila. No one can give this place a good rating if you've had authentic Mexican.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque.
