I stayed at the La Quinta Inn across the street. I was driving from NY to WA, and this was my first stop. Since I spent most of my time on the coasts, I hadn't had the luxury of experiencing much SnS. I figured this was a great time to check them out. I ordered a Wisconsin Buttery burger, Cheese and Bacon fries and a Banana Milkshake. The burger was incredible. I'd eat way too many of them if I lived near a SnS. The bun had a little crisp on the bottom when you bit through, but was still remarkably soft. Also, the burger wasn't dry at all, which was something I was concerned about since there weren't any real condiments on the sandwich. Don't fear that. Embrace it. It allows you to truly experience the rich flavors within this glorious treat. The banana milkshake was also tasty. It wasn't anything to write home about though. I enjoyed it, but I'd probably only give it a 3.5/5 by itself. I returned to SnS before I left the following day. I ordered a different milkshake, another Wisconsin Buttery, but skipped the fries this time. I'm not sure how fries+cheese+bacon=something worse than each individual part, but it did here. Don't get the fries. They're a 1.5/5-2/5. I can't recommend the Wisconsin Buttery burger enough. It's a top 5 burger from fast food places, and I know my fast food burgers.

I love steak n shake and stoppped here for my usual once a year treat. Service was good. Ordered a small chili with fresh cheese & onion. Arrived COLD.Told waitress about it... she YELLS MICROWAVE this more to the cook and 3 minutes later brings back the same bowl with all the cheese and onions NUKED. Not cool- sent it back... Got these wonderful shoestring FF and yummy till I got halfway down and were swimming in frigging OIL- never drained them. The burger did not taste quite right as it is usually so crispy tasty-looked inside...bun not toasted. Poor experience at this location. Grill I could see all outside filthy...buns stuck way under the grill.... condiment station tile walls full of grease. Within the hour I paid for the food I ate.... On the good side the food was super inexpensive. BUT I will not use this location again.

This was by far the worst experience I've ever had at Steak and Shake. We walked in and there were many dirty tables. After we ordered, the table next to us became irate and demanded to speak to a manager because they could see their food getting cold in the window. Their food was brought to them quickly and we waited 25 minutes for our order. The food was decent. As we waited to pay (with cash), we were kept waiting because only one person had been with the company long enough to know how to open the cash drawer. I used the ladies room, which was disgusting and in poor condition. As I walked out the door I noticed the kitchen was extremely dirty and a burger was burning on the grill. I will never return to this Steak & Shake.

I'm sure this place gets the brunt of a lot of mad patrons as they exit the battleground that is I-71 for a tired bite to eat. For us this is a great stop on the Columbus to Cleveland trek. The staff has always been very nice and the food is overall great!. I will say this last time we stopped in when the place was packed...it was like they forgot about us. Finally someone else came with our food. Probably just a bad combo, of the dinner rush and being sat in the furthest corner in the joint. Food was still good!.

Long wait till n drive thru and when we paid the girl dropped a penny that we handed her then just stood there with her hand out until we hit her another penny. Really?? Wouldn't recommend because of wait and employee.

This restaurant was one of the least friends and least accommodating places I have ever visited. I purchased gift cards for the holiday season and they gave me a coupon for a free Carmel Apple or s'mores shake. I asked for the snores milkshake and the drive thru attendant said they didn't have it even though it was good through 11/30/14. I asked if they would substitute for another milkshake and she said no, but it was happy hour and it would be half price. That defeated the purpose of having the coupon but the worked couldn't get that point. After arguing for a couple of minutes we drove away. We then went to another location and they honored the coupon.

I tried to use a coupon that I had for a free caramel apple or s'mores milkshake this weekend, and needless to say I will not be coming back. The person in the drive thru asked for us to repeat our order 3 or 4 times. She then proceeded to tell us that they no longer had these milkshake flavors, as they are seasonal (although the coupon is valid through 11/30)! I asked her if I could substitute a chocolate milkshake instead, since I wanted to use the coupon. She told me that I could purchase a half price milkshake since it was their Half Price Happy Hour. I told her that I didn't want a half price milkshake because I had a coupon for a free one. I ended up leaving without purchasing anything.

My parents have been there twice and have noted that the air conditioning was set in the 50s. It needs serious attention if it's been broken on two separate occasions, as it was on the 2nd occasion (explained by an employee). My mom has said she can't go back because it was THAT cold.

Usually when I come here, I get great food and horrid service. But Carrie is the best server ever!!! She takes great care of you and always is timely! If you ever want great food AND great service from Steak and Shake, ask for Carrie!!!

I'm an oddly reluctant fan when it comes to this. The food was well priced and quite tasty. I mean, how can you not have a tasty burger when you melt half a stick of butter on it. (The Wisconsin Burger...it tells you right up front on the menu that it's topped with butter in the cooking...and I figured you only live once and I don't much frequent the Midwest). My strawberry shake was exceptional. The only reason for a star lost was because I felt like I ate half a stick of butter about an hour after lunch... Perhaps I should have just known better. I'll be back, but I'm sure I'll order something else.

Stopped by on a Saturday a. m. road trip. Apparently there was a bad storm over nite so was unusually crowded. Despite this the entire staff was cheerful while going 90 miles an hour taking care of everything. This reflects on the skills of the management. Have rarely stopped at this chain in the past but was impressed today.

This restaurant is not representative of all Steak and Shakes. At 2 pm on a weekday, we walked in and waited to be seated. And we waited. And waited some more. Finally the people in front of us were seated when they called someone from the back. Her shirt was filthy from cooking. The restaurant was more than half empty but the "Hostess" could not find a table for us because all of the open tables had dirty dishes on them. My co-diner returned from the restrooms stating that they were dirty and out of supplies. We had had enough and decided to go to the next restaurant down the street. I have never had a bad experience at a Steak 'N Shake but this one gives all the others a bad name.

Burger not bad - service was pretty much a disaster. I had to wait literally 40 minutes to get my order for a burger filled. No one approached me to tell me what was going on until I literally had to go up to the counter to find out what was up. While somewhat apologetic, all they said was that they understaffed and only had one person in back that day and everything was taking forever. Not worth a 40-minute wait, that is for sure.
