For those of you who have lived in the area your whole lives like I have, this is the same family that used to own China Work on Dayton Xenia rd. they sold it, heard the new owners were terrible, and decided to open Tsoas Cuisine. I have been following their cooking since I was a freshman in high school. Now, ...God 8 years! Later when I come home from Chicago to visit - everyone knows this is on my list of places to visit - no exceptions! The crab ragoons are light and fluffy. The General Tsoas is spicy, but not too spicy where I can't handle it (spice wimp here) and the rice is always fluffy and seasoned. The buffet is wonderful and they include tea on it too. Authentic, delicious, fresh. I'm going this afternoon and am now double psyched about it!

Best egg rolls in the Dayton area! They are filled with what tastes like fresh cabbage (although I'm sure they are made ahead and frozen). Hearty, overflowing with goodness. When did egg rolls become so anemic in size?! At any rate, look no farther if you are craving an honest to goodness decent egg roll. The hot and sour soup is pretty tasty too-- big mushrooms and perfect for opening the sinuses if you have a cold!

Good service. I had the mongolian beef iand it was good, I had fried rice instead of rhe steam rice and I was disappointed, it was just plain rice with soy sauce, no vegetables or meat. Still, I'm going to give it a try once more.

Well I must say that we appreciated the number of Yelpers whose reviews led us to try this place. We stopped in for their lunch buffet. In any small place we go, our first look is cleanliness. This place is clean. No dramatic decor or anything but nice, clean and well lit. Not knowing what to do we went up to the counter where the host informed us that it was prepay, get your own drink (no refills), self serve buffet and she added emphatically directions to where we were to put our empty plates. No problem with any of that. Especially since our meal for 2 was just a bit over 17 bucks with drinks. The buffet itself was small but adequate. I sometimes think Chinese buffets try and do too much and wind up with subpar dishes or dishes that sit too long under the lamps. Here, the buffet was filled with maybe 20 dishes and soups which proved to be just fine. We tried many of the dishes and my wife and I both agreed on the lomein being our favorite. But honorable mentions also go to the General Tsos chicken and the Teriyaki Chicken. Cudos also go to the sea salt shrimp as well. The buffet was fresh which is easier said then done but the steady stream of patrons helped in that regard. But to their credit, when it came to refilling the buffet, they were all over it. Overall, we really enjoyed this place. Well worth the money for what they give in return. We felt it was a great value and would come back again when we are in the area. However if you are looking for atmosphere Tsaos is probably not for you. Food yes atmosphere no.

Surprisingly good food for a buffet! All the dishes taste fresh and different enough from each other. Not much seating and it can get really crowded during the base lunch hour (11:30 -12:30). Definitely one of the better Chinese restaurants by the base.

  • Shuo F.

This is a small hole-in-the-wall family-owned Chinese restaurant, so it doesn't have any fancy atmosphere like China Cottage. However, the food is superb! It is one of the few authentic Chinese restaurants in the Dayton area.

  • Philip M.

No frills chinese restaurant with great food, large portions and reasonable prices. Don't go if looking for a fine dining atmosphere...but if looking for good food, go in and enjoy.

As someone that grew up on authentic Chinese food, it is so hard for me to like Americanized Chinese food. But I had an itch and based on the reviews, I needed to check this place out. We went for the lunch buffet. All and all, it is a small buffet that is consistently refilled. They have some spicy dumplings and garlic green beans that I am fan of, but it's still your typical Americanized Chinese joint (better than most though). I still get that heavy feeling after I finish unlike home cooking. I think if I come again, I would try their menu on the white board. They have salt and pepper pork chops and boy choy. It is everything that I intended this place to be, it didn't exceed my expectations, but it wasn't a disappointment. Please note that this is a self serve joint - so order at the counter first!

  • Wenbo W.

They used to have near authentic Chinese food. I ordered dish items (in Chinese) on the whiteboard several times. They were a lot worse than they used to be.

Great lunch buffet, and a variety of options. Super close to WPAFB so it's perfect for a quick lunch. It is busy, so get there early!

  • Ryan T.

Best Won Ton soup I've ever had. So many fresh veggies in it! Really good entrees as well, but the soup is what separates them from the others in the area IMO

Located between my office and hotel, Tsao's Cuisine was an easy place to grab dinner. I went here several times and ordered the General Tso's Chicken (each time). The batter was crispy, the sauce was not as spicy as I would like it, but still good. I wasn't very impressed with the rice, the menu said it was fried rice but it lacked any kind of flavor.

  • Andrew D.

This place is wonderful. The biggest thing that I think helps make this one of my favorite buffets is that the food is always super fresh. The fact that they always seem to be busy, and that their buffet is on the smaller side helps keep the dishes refreshed. As for the food itself, as you can most likely read in the other reviews, the General Tso's is great, as is the Rock Salt Shrimp... The rice, both white and fried is a bit bland and boring. I also love the shrimp cakes. Well worth a stop if you are in the area!

Wanted to like but couldn't see what all the hype was about. Came based on yelp recommendations. Got an egg roll and general tsoas chicken but the amount of breading was overwhelming. It really ruined the dish for me. Bf got chicken and veggies which were cooked nicely but sauce lacked flavor. Fried rice also is not typical bc w/o veggies in it. Food presentation was nice and server was on her game so that was good. I will prob not be able to eat leftovers and hope to give this place one more shot with a different dish in the future...one without breading.

Tsao's lunch buffet is a great deal, including hot tea, choice of two soups, and several different fresh entrees. Tsao's is conveniently located near the Air Force base. Would have made it better if there were some legitimate dessert options, but we weren't sold any. Soda or iced tea is an extra fee. I thought that what they did provide was pretty good in a pinch, though I have had better.

  • Steve M.

Best buffet in town, not the biggest selection, but the quality is amazing, always hot and fresh.

  • Nate L.

YOU GO TSAO! YOU GO! Fantastic portions (to the point of where you think that you've mispronounced "regular" as "everything you have"), tasted incredibly fresh, and a great atmosphere. Also, I saw a good number of people walk in and right back out with their takeout orders, always smiling and looking like "the things I'll do to this food..." My fiancé and I would like to consider ourselves well-versed in oriental cuisine, and Tsao's knows what their doing, at least in the semi-generic, oriental food market. So if you want the best, generic Chinese food, come to Tsao's. You won't be disappointed.

This unassuming little place is in a strip mall that can be a little hard to get to during busy traffic times. It's worth the time you might spend trying to get into the parking lot. Tsao's is our go to for authentic Chinese food in Dayton. We always skip the buffet, though I've heard it is good, and head to the counter to see the list on the whiteboard, or ask for the picture menu. You really can't go wrong, but the Rock Salt Pork is one of my favourites. Some of the more Americanized dishes really aren't that great IMO, and if you want something like that I'd probably go to China Cottage or some place like that. But anything I've had in the picture menu has been really great. Prices are quite reasonable. Service is good and efficient. The ambience? It's pretty bare bones, but you don't go here for the decor, you go for the food. Highly recommended.

  • Marc L.

First thing you need to know is when you come in you have to pay before you eat no hostess no waiters. Just pay at the counter and grab a plate. The food is kept pretty fresh because the buffet is small. The rock salt shrimp are excellent.

Yum, yum, yum! This was the first and only Chinese restaurant we've tried since moving to the area a year and a half ago. The food has been consistently delicious. We always order the same thing to go: plain lo mein and an order of sesame beef. We live 5-10 minutes from Tsao's Cuisine, and the food is still blazing hot by the time we get it home (big plus!). The portions are huge - I am always amazed how they can fit so much food into those small containers! My only complaints are that their egg drop soup contains creamed corn (Never seen that before, ick. Although I haven't tried it, I probably won't, as I prefer my egg drop soup without creamed corn.) and they don't give you those little crunchy noodle things for free like other places do. Nonetheless, great food and great portions. Never been for the lunch buffet, but I've heard great things about it.

We stopped here on vacation because of the yelp reviews, and we weren't disappointed. Very good buffet!

I've enjoyed visiting Tsao's Cuisine for dine-in and carryout during lunch. The staff has been really sweet; they're extremely personable, attentive, and careful with my orders. Even if I'm simply ordering a carryout, they're very hospitable and treat me like a beloved neighbor. The food, as always, is delicious, and the tea is awesome. The setting is like a minimalist cafe, but I've seen them host larger groups before. Located near Wright State, they attract a lot of faculty, students, and military personnel. Convenient location and delicious lunch!

  • Paige D.

Buffet is awesome. Not huge but enough variety. Rock salt shrimp are yum but a tad spicy for my tender tongue. Really close to AFIT too. Good iced tea. Garlic dishes are delicious. You can actually taste some garlic flavor unlike most Chinese places. The sauces are not overly thick either. Perfection. Cream cheese wontons were good but not overly filled. Egg rolls were okay.

Small restaurant but also makes for an amazingly fresh buffet lunch! Everything my taste buds experienced was amazing. The options available never ran out as the cooks were all over it. Veggies were perfectly cooked!

  • Lingling D.

This humble establishment fulfilled all of my expectations for a good restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was great. The staff was very caring. They did everything within their power when I was not feeling well at the time my family was there. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good place to eat in Dayton.

  • James C.

A good Chinese food restaurant with a modest lunch bar. The food was hot and reasonably priced. They could use a drink machine as they rely on canned drinks and don't do refills. A good lunch spot that is quick.

  • Jess H.

It was alright. I figured that since it was a smaller selection, the food would be of higher quality. The price is average for a Chinese restaurant, so no complaints there. I was very disappointed by the other high reviews of this place. I think this is just an average Americanized-Chinese food place with a small lunch buffet. There seem to be many comments about the rock salt shrimp... It's just heavily breaded shrimp??? Addressing the selection from the buffet, there wasn't a star dish, so to speak...and everything was just mediocre. Nothing was that bad, but there is nothing here attracting me to come again.

  • John W.

Fairly authentic Chinese food for a good price. To be honest, I haven't had a better hole-in-the-wall restaurant.

I am not used to Chinese food being perfect for gluten free but eating here was a dream. Ask for the authentic Chinese menu- where anything "breaded" is most likely used with corn starch. (Not a surprise but it's the Americanized versions of Chinese food that is annoyingly high in gluten content). The staff is wonderful - I called Saturday night and the woman (I'm assuming the owner) told me they can modify most orders. I came in and asked about gluten free and the server told me to hold on, and got the owner. Most people with Celiac know that unfortunately some people in the restuarant industry go along with what you're saying and say "yeah yeah I double checked, yeah yeah no flour etc" but don't actually know what they're talking about. The staff took my condition very seriously and the owner talked with us extinsively and patiently about how certain dishes were prepared. I felt very secure eating there (normally I'm terrified eating at a Chinese restaurant because of many of the sauces). I woke up feeling great- no cross contamination happened either. The best part??! I mentioned breading and it's mostly corn starch (obvioulsy double check on a dish when you are ordering if gluten free) so I got to eat BREADED things!!! Rock Salt shrimp was fantastic (ordered based on other recommendations from yelp). The Fish Soup... Had Nala in the title and from the authentic menu was absurdly flavorful- thickly sliced ginger and peppercorns floating around in the soup which was spicy but the perfect kind of spicy where you taste full flavor and not just heat (I was definitely calming my mouth down with some white rice though). I am strictly dairy/ soy free so again PERFECT PLACE- I am staying in Dayton for a week and we are planning on coming back soon. Ten gluten free stars (which you know are harder to get than regular stars) ;). My next dish- going to check out the Mongolian Lamb (mmmmmm didn't ask if gf but I know I will get an honest, competent answer).

Possibly the best Chinese restaurant in Ohio. Authentic, just like mom used to make. Traditional dishes that aren't on the menu available by special request; just ask the owners!

Coming from Hawaii I am fortunate enough to have experienced some of the most authentic Chinese grub you can find outside of China. I guess you could say I am a smidge spoiled. I was reluctant to try any Chinese food in Dayton in fear that it would not live up to my stringent standards. Alas, with the encouragement of my husband, I have found our new "go-to" (or to-go) Chinese restaurant. Tsao's was amazing! Everything we tried was wonderful. General Tsao's chicken is a MUST! Wonderfully crunchy and saucy and just plain yummy! I am not sure how authentic this dish is but it is yummy nonetheless. Steamed dumplings were also delicious!!! We also dined on stir fried beef with vegetables, which also hit the spot. My husband had their shrimp last time he was there and thought those were absolutely divine as well. Poor guy didn't get to eat them this go-around since I am an anti-seafood kinda gal. All in all this place was great! It was clean, food was fresh, service was speedy and the whole experience was just awesome. We will be back!!!

Clean and the service was very good Food was very hot (stove hot) and delicious although I found the fried rice a bit lacking as it only had egg in it. Overall very good food

  • Bill S.

The people were super nice. The buffet was pretty empty because we arrived a little late for lunch. We wanted to give them a fair shot, so after realizing the buffet was out of stuff, we just ordered a chicken and broccoli and shared it. One really different thing - no chicken and broccoli offered in the buffet - this was a first for me. Fresh ingredients, but the chicken wasn't the best I've had, and while this is just preference, we didn't really like the flavor. Overall this is a nice place - very friendly, but you'll have to try to determine if the flavor is for you. Also, be SURE to get there around noon if you're trying the buffet to ensure all items are stocked.

First time here, last night, still eating leftovers, small snack left for tomorrow. Had the General Tsao's and potstickers, both top notch. General Tsao's, maybe, maybe a little more breading than needed, but still good chunks of chicken, flavor best I've had in a long time. Potstickers awesome, though would prefer a more traditional Gyoza dipping sauce, their's tasty, just not what I'm used too, though may change that preference. Can't wait to try more. For those that care, no liquor license, but food worth it.

Great Chinese food! Nothing spectacular different though, it's kind of a get in-get out kinda place. Buffet selection doesn't change often. Fair priced. Military discount.

I popped in around 8 pm to get some takeout. Restaurant had customers but wasn't crazy busy, and the staff was alert and attentive. I ordered the rock salt shrimp per the recommendation of many yelpers here, and was pleasantly surprised to find it was basically the same dish as the salt and pepper squid I enjoy at a restaurant near home (in Fairborn for the summer). It's got great flavor without being too incredibly heavy the way a lot of American Chinese is. It is fried, though (just something to be aware of). Two reasons I didn't give it a 5 - $14 for shrimp and white rice seems a bit much. It was a pretty large portion, but it doesn't come with any sides or anything interesting besides the shrimp and the rice. You won't go hungry (and I'm a big eater), but you're not getting any further variety. The other reason was that I asked for rock salt shrimp, was charged for the $14 version, and then saw on the board on the back there was a $17 version. I asked about that, and they said it was the Chinese version (which apparently just means the heads and shells stay on the shrimp? maybe other stuff). I kind of wish they would have told me about that when I asked for the shrimp (I would have preferred it), but I guess I can't blame them, most people here refuse to eat stuff with heads on it.

OMG, Tsao's, whyyyyy haven't I found until now?!! This is totally a bittersweet situation (not the food): on the one hand, I lament the fact that I'm a Dayton-native and have totally been missing out; on the other, my waistline and wallet are both thankful, because otherwise I would have been eating here EVERY DAY for gawd knows how many years. That's a lotta rock salt pork chops. If you are Chinese or just have a hankering for some legit Chinese food, this is the best option I've found in the Dayton area by far. I can't really speak to the Americanized stuff, I'm sure it's of excellent quality, but really, you can get that sort of food anywhere. Per my dad (quite the Dayton-area connoisseur of all things Chinese-y), turns out the head chef here was formerly of Steve Kao's by the Dayton Mall which closed down some years ago, but at one time it was an institution of Dayton-area Chinese food. Since leaving Steve Kao's and opening Tsao's, she brought over some of her signature dishes and still makes them as delicious as ever. As so many others have mentioned, you gotta order off the whiteboard. Ignore the paper menu. It'll suffice as a receptacle for your rock salt pork chop bones or something. Must gets include the Ground Bean Flounder, Rock Salt Pork Chop, and Stewed Beef Brisket. I really appreciate what she's done here with Tsao's, catering to both Eastern and Western clientele. Regardless of which cuisine you prefer, I confidently guarantee you will leave satisfied.

Can't do much better for a Chinese buffet given the price, especially in the Midwest. They have flounders, too.

  • Rob L.

I have to admit the food here is great. The local chinese folk have been dining here the two nights we went in. Food is good, and portion size is huge, both nights we've ended up taking a box of food back to our room for eating the next day. Service was very quick, with water offered as soon as we were seated. Price is very low in my opinion.

  • Mike L.

I really wanted to love this place before I went in based on all the other yelp reviews. However, the food and the price point of this place doesn't really match what it should be. They do have an authentic chinese menu on the whiteboard that ranges from 13-15 dollars per late ( a little high ) that makes this place a little more unique than most places in dayton. However, even with this unique blend of authenticity, the food itself is just "ok". The price really doesn't fit with what the food should be. Service was also just ok, they seem to be attentive, but not really personable during the time when my group was there.

  • Joanne Y.

Update: April 1, 2011 I saw a Chinese grandma cooking the food - god, it's no wonder the food tastes so authentic and delicious. My Chinese husband mentioned that the food is mostly authentic, but a little bit Americanized to match the taste buds of Americans. I went back today for perhaps one of the last times I'll be visiting due to another military move, this time to Japan....and WOW!! Yet again, a fantastic and superb General Tso's Chicken (their best dish in my opinion)!! The crust was caramelized and sweetened (just right) to perfection. Hot, steaming (literally hot steam rising) and juicy chicken inside and not too much breading. I love this place. I will miss Fairborn for this one restaurant!! Note: By the way, if you're from the west coast looking for Chow Mein (the soft noodle kind like the ones at Panda Express or at the mall), you have to order the LO mein. The Chow Mein here is made with crispy noodles (a different kind of Chow Mein).

  • Chuck H.

When in Dayton I usually eat here at least once - lunch buffet is small but excellent - usually a crowd at lunch. I have tried 5-6 dishes and they have all been good. Hunan - Shredded - Curry - Mala all have been good. I love the vegetable soup also - very good. Staff is always friendly and helpful - I have not tried their wall of dishes but one of these times I will - they have a large wipe board with various dishes on it that seem to change frequently - Sort of the catch of the day menu. If in Dayton try them out.

Great tea here. I agree, food is good, not much on ambiance. But, very efficient. Staff is hard working and fast. Inexpensive.

Try the black bean chicken, but avoid the hot-n-sour soup! Wish they delivered, but no.

Tsao's is a relatively authentic Chinese cuisine restaurant near WSU and next door to W.O.Wright's. It is buffet by day and full service by night. This is probably the best tasting Chinese food in the Dayton area, and also probably the most authentic (even during buffet hours). The only drawback is the atmosphere, which is pretty simple and with the exception of a semi-private room for large groups has very little dining ambiance. If you are ordering at dinnertime, some of the best meals include A Szechuan style orange white fish meal (I have no idea what they call it! It's on the buffet normally with the sauce on the side), and rock salt *fill in the blank* (shrimp, chicken, etc.). Try grabbing the picture menu from the counter. The prices at Tsao's are reasonably cheap, and the service is excellent.

    (4)
  • Jed M.

I've never had authentic Chinese food but I hear, and believe, that Tsao's food has some authenticity behind it. It sure is good anyway. I have only been here for the lunch buffet, which I highly recommend. It's not as big as some of the Chinese buffets out there, but the quality of food is high and there's never an empty serving dish. You have to order before you dine and buy your drinks at the cashier's desk.

  • Tanya S.

I love the food here! By far the best Chinese food in the Dayton area. The employees are super friendly and the restaurant is always very clean and tidy. It's not the best location since it's located next to a very busy intersection and the restaurant itself is very small and simple, but that's really not important. If you want "ambiance" then go find a Pei Wei or PF Changs (lol). This is a place you come for lunch or for awesome fresh take out. It sucks this place is so close to my house! I have to resist the urge to get dinner here every other night. Not good for the fatness. I have some leftover sesame chicken in the fridge that's calling my name. Portions are gigantic so you get enough for two people on the carry out meals.

    (5)
  • Neko C.

Thus far, this is the best Chinese food I have found in the Dayton area. It's my go-to place when I need my Lo Mein or Beef with Broccoli fix. The veggies are crisp, the meat is tender, and everything smells Amazing!!! Just thinking about their delicious food makes my mouth water. Only down side (for me) is that it's on the way home from the Wright Fitness gym- so tempting every time!!! Not good for my wallet haha.

  • Kymberlei T.

I expected something a lot different reading the review this place has. I was very disappointed! The food is really no more than just average. Everything was spicy, and if that isn't really what you are looking for then your just out of luck. We got the lunch buffet, and I think I would of been happier at a Hibachi grill or something like that. The crab Rangoon was just OK, and the egg drop soup had corn in it. (wtf? corn?) Really it just wasnt our cup of tea.

    (2)
  • Nick M.

My wife and I order from here about once a week, it's our go-to chinese restaurant and it's just damn good. Never been disappointed with the food, I am a big fan of the General Tsao's chicken, crispy and spicy. They have loyal and satisfied costumers with us.

  • Derek R.

This is by far the best Chinese food I've had in the Dayton area. The buffet at lunch time emphasizes quality over quantity, which just about a dozen items but all of them fresh and delicious. For dinner, the food is excellent as well. The location is in a tiny strip mall, but the locale and the decor are the only thing that keeps this place from being able to charge high prices. If you tried this food in an upscale restaurant you wouldn't be disappointed, so paying $10 to get two days worth of food is a wonderful deal. And for you military folks, there'a nice military discount on the buffet!

    (5)
  • Phillip S.

This place is the real deal! I have never had such good food at a Chinese buffet before! Yes, the buffet is small....but the quality is top notch....even better than at most sit down Chinese restaurants I've been to. The owner is very nice, and surely knows her stuff! The buffet is around $7-$8 if I remember correctly. Also, they aren't afraid to use spice here....which is good for someone like me! Great egg rolls, awesome hot&sour soup, crispy orange glazed fish, crispy and spicy shrimp, crispy and flavorful General Tso Chicken.......awesome, just awesome! Give it a try.

I was visiting Dayton to go to a graduation at Wright State University, and we stumbled upon this place because we were running out of time to grab a quick dinner prior to the ceremony. I think we found this by looking for places on our Yelp mobile application. While Tsao's Cuisine is a "run of the mill" fast food Chinese food joint, they do a good job of meeting or even exceeding what you typically find from that type of restaurant. The place is clean, the service is quick and friendly, and the food was pretty good. It beats the quickie Chinese place near my house in Virginia, that's for sure.

    (4)
  • Nate S.

The best Chinese food I've found in the area without a doubt. This is definitely a restaurant that puts an emphasis on quality, and it shows. Their primary menu is similar to that of many Chinese restaurants, but tastes much better. One thing that sets Tsao's apart is that they also have an authentic Chinese menu behind their main counter if you care for something a little different from your typical fare.

  • Elaine M.

I've gone here for their lunch buffet a ton of times, and although it's small, it's absolutely fabulous! Quality definitely beats quantity! They're constantly replenishing the food, so it's always fresh, not to mention delicious! My faves are the General Tso's chicken (the best I've ever had anywhere!), the spicy potstickers, crab rangoons, rock salt shrimp, and the shrimp toast. They seem to be their busiest between noon and 1pm on weekdays, so go a little earlier or later than that if you want to try to avoid crowds (since they're located very close to the Air Force base as well as Wright State, they can get pretty busy). Also, you have to bus your own table, but it's not a big deal at all since it keeps their operating costs down, which probably translates into lower costs for the customer (what they charge for the buffet is very reasonable!)--definitely worth it in my book. On Saturdays, they offer a few more authentic Chinese dishes during their lunch buffet, which is worth checking out. The employees are super nice and friendly and have always gone out of their way to make sure we're happy and satisfied [there was even one time where my husband and I showed up 15 minutes before the lunch buffet ended, fully expecting to have to settle for whatever might still be leftover, but instead, we were asked what dishes in particular we wanted, and those dishes were cooked fresh for us and brought straight to our table! (Not sure if they do this for everyone--maybe it was just because we're regular customers and eat there all the time--but we were definitely pleasantly surprised and appreciative of the kind gesture)]. I've tried some of other Chinese restaurants in the area, but this one is the best BY FAR!

Was in Dayton for training at WPAFB and tried this little place for the lunch buffet. I would say I am a Chinese foot buffet veteran, and this place is currently my favorite. Selection is not large, but what they have out is beyond buffet quality. Favorite was the salted rock shrimp. If you do go there, beat the mad WPAFB lunch crowd and get there before 11:45.

Great food, best Asian I have had in Dayton. Try the rock salt shrimp or lemon chicken for a unique twist. Only gets 4 because of the strange self serve service. No problem with take out.

I have only been for the weekday lunch buffet. Each time it has been excellent. This place is really small, last time I was there for lunch all the tables were taken and folks were still in line! No problem, we shared a patio table with a couple of guys. For a buffet the food is exceedingly fresh and tasty. Rock salt shrimp, flounder (both fried), dumplings, spicy green beans, Tsao's Chicken. Everything they have is delicious. Staff if very friendly and courteous. Would love to try the weekend buffer or dinner.

As a diehard Chinese food fan I thought Tsao's deserved a shout out for their year of faithful service to me. Since I moved to the Dayton area about 15 months ago I have tried pretty much every Chinese takeout place in the Beavercreek/Fairborn area. I can say without a doubt that Tsao's is the best. Now don't get me wrong, it's not P.F. Chang's or something fancy like that. It's just a typical, family-owned Chinese restaurant. But it is the perfect, archetypal example of the form. No perks, just great food served by people actually from China. My girlfriend and I get food here on average about 2-3 times a month. My personal favorite is the Mala Chicken, which is basically a spicy, saucy, garlic and jalepeno concoction. I also like their spicy shrimp and shredded vegetables. Honestly though, you can't go wrong. I've ordered probably 15-20 different things from their massive menu and the worst thing I've had was still pretty damn good. They have a lunch buffet too, which I've actually never been to because I always pack my lunch, but my girlfriend has said it's very high quality though small. We always get takeout but it has a pleasant little dining room too if you like eating in.

Tsao's Cuisine stands on par with many of the best small Chinese restaurant's I have frequented in locals as varied as San Francisco, LA, Vancouver, Toronto, NYC, London, Glasgow, Cardiff and Singapore, but in Dayton Ohio it is a revelation! This restaurant just stands head and shoulders above anything available in the Dayton market. I whole heartedly agree with the other reviewer Tsao's is just awesome, and if you really want to experience this little gem at its best come for the Saturday Buffet which is truly spectacular. On Saturday they offers such treats as warm Soybean milk, and I cannot tell you how hard that is to find being served in a restaurant anywhere outside of large Chinese communities. Plus, every Saturday they offer a couple different special dishes such as this Saturday when a new eggplant dish was on offer, and I can vow for its tastiness as I polished off two helpings! As rankings go if there we an extra star for Tsao's I would give, but seeing we are limited to a paltry 5 stars that is my vote!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
