Didn't eat here and my review is totally one sided. Stuck in this mediocre hotel for a soccer tournament. I chat up the bar manager here at this restaurant / bar thing and ask him to reserve me a bunch of tables for the Hawks game tonight on TV. He is all willing to do it and give me tables for 30 people. What a great guy!!! Now we have good TVs to watch the Blackhawks play game 3!!!

only a couple of reviews since 2009? what's up with that? This hotel is usually pretty packed, would expect more. On to my review. Service was fine here, waitress was very friendly and prompt. Problem was the food. Ate here for breakfast and the buffets were all shut down and could order from a limited menu. Its not that the food was bad, it just was very average. It was standard fare (eggs/bacon), that you could have gotten at Denny's. But it cost more. Breakfast was about 15 per person with coffee. Overall, an average experience. Set your expectations accordingly.

I know people who love this place...me, not so much. It is dark and has a hole in the wall feeling. Service was OK, and food came out quickly. Real Italian food, not Italian fast food. But the salad was blah and the dressing comes in a plastic container instead of on the salad. Why? And it's not cheap...even though most of us had the lunch special.

This restaurant is in the Marriott Dayton. Adjacent to Parmizzano's is Gambit's Bar & Grill, which is where I ate my meal. Food at Gambit's is from Parmizanno's. I had the crostini for an appetizer and the chicken parmizzano for my entree. Both dishes were huge. Way too much food for one person. Flavor was decent in both though neither dish was spectacular. I'll categorize both as decent Italian grub. The decor in the bar was bland and spartan. For a Marriott I would expect there to be a somewhat more upscale atmosphere but this environment was uninspired at best. Making this a three-star rating instead of a two-star rating is that the bartender, James, was fabulous. He was efficient, prompt and friendly. He's an asset to place. This will be a good place to eat once or twice during a stay, but don't expect fine dining. But definitely stop by the bar and sit in James' area.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
