The quality and variety of food in the Oregon District have really improved over the years, it's gone from being a strip with nothing but bars catering to college kids to quite a few places with a nice selection of unique food offerings and a wide selection of craft beers, I was anxious to check out Lucky's for just this reason. The interior is fairly small but seating seemed pretty ample for the space, I did like the Playboy pinball machine near the back, nice touch! (even though I didn't play). Our waiter arrived pretty quickly with menus and offered us a beer menu / guide that showed what they had on tap, what they've had on tap before, and what's on deck, I really like this! Many places that serve a variety of craft beer don't have a menu for their selections and it makes it difficult to choose something that you'll like, good job Lucky's for doing this! Our beer came out in very short order, the food on the other hand was pretty slow to arrive, we really had to nurse our drinks to avoid ordering another. I ordered the steak sandwich which is a specialty of Lucky's, the first thing I noticed was that it was on what looked to be a hot dog bun, smaller than a hogie but and definitely hot dog sized. The steak was cooked like I ordered and tasted good with the blue cheese crumbles on top. The fries were average, nothing special really. My wife had the chicken salad sandwich with sweet potato fries, her comment was that everything was good but not standout good, I agreed with her. I mean, the food wasn't bad at all and the service was pretty good (food was a little slow coming out). Initially I was thinking 4 stars but I really think the 3 star A-OK is more fitting.

love this place... as long as it's not the weekend. gets a little crowded and echo-y.

Nice environment for dinner and your typical bar restaurant. Not too loud for a bar and upscale bar food. Good for vegetarians as well with several options. Had the jerk chicken sandwich and cheese board. Would definitely recommend both. Would consider coming back!

My favorite place to grab a bite and a craft brew here in Dayton, OH. Always a fun place to hang out. And the food is wonderful. I highly recommend the chicken fingers and the burgers. The Goat Burger really is the G.O.A.T. Crowd is diverse. Extensive menu choices to please everyone! Fries are a must.

You wouldn't expect this place to serve grass fed beef or have vegan tacos because it looks like a dive bar that serves, well, bar food. The burger selection is pretty good and you can replace a beef patty with chicken or turkey which was super cool because I don't eat beef. I will definitely try one or the other next time because this visit the FRIED AVOCADO SANDWICH caught my eye. Perfect lightly breaded avocado on a whole grain bread with a sriracha aoli, lettuce and tomato! AMAZING. I scraped some of the aoli off because they were pretty generous with it and I got a side of the southwest sauce as well. SO DELICIOUS! I also tried the fried pickles and cheese fries. I wish the cheese was a little more melted as it mostly still shredded. The pickles were well flavored and fried perfectly but its not a heaping basket full. The service was decent. Food came fast but the service kind of slacked on the refills and didn't seem to know too much about the beers. Also, no lagers on tap the night we went...

Just left Luckys and had a horrible experience. The waitress was very nice and accommodating. But the management had no customer service skills to speak of. I ordered two beers that were the worst I've ever had. No one at the table could take even one sip.we civilly ask to have something different and were treated as if we had claimed we found a nail in our food. The manager with the goatee has no customer service skills treats his patrons rudely. I will never recommend nor return to this place again.

Came in on a quiet Wed night. The staff seemed ok. The guy who insists on wearing a baseball cap to work kind of weirded me out and the girl with all the tattoos seems to not like me. But overall not a bad experience. However, things really went downhill when I went outside to have a smoke. I explicitly asked the girl with all the tattoos to no let any one sit in my seat and disturb the many prints of Whoopi Goldberg I had spread out on the bar. Upon returning, my pictures of the Whoopster, as I like to call her, were in complete disarray. I don't know. I'll probably be back.

Visited for the first time last weekend while in town for a conference. So stoked to have stumbled across this place. Amazing craft beer selection, and I was pleasantly surprised to see TONS of options for my fellow vegetarian/vegans. Brad gave us phenomenal service, and was amazingly gracious with our large group that contained a few *pains.* (Really? You want the server to list off all the sides when they're clearly written on the menu?) Brad is a saint and this place kicks serious ass. (Can you say ass on Yelp?)

Great bar food and fun awaits at Luckies. This Gem City hideout has everything from a bangin' juke box to bingo on certain nights of the week. Grab a beer and grub out. Everybody has a little luck here.

Super friendly staff. Cool atmosphere. A really informative beer menu. The food is legit! House made, beer battered chicken strips, chicken nachos, and hand cut fries with an awesome dip, garlic aioli? I'm not sure, doesn't matter 5 stars. Highly recommend.

We went a few weeks ago with another couple and the food and service was excellent! Our server was very knowledgable about the beers they had and was extremely helpful. Will go back again

I've eaten here A LOT. I don't make a habit of eating places that I don't like. That should tell you a lot about the type of person I am. I have a vegan friend. She eats here A LOT too. I try to sneak bacon in her meals but she has caught me every time. They have brunch on weekends. The chicken and waffle was so popular they added it to their regular menu. Now they have brunch every night. Sweet potato fries. I went on a Tuesday once and had tacos as part of some crazy promotion they like to call "Taco Tuesday". This also happened to be the same night they did BINGO (the game, not the dog). I never quite understood the association between tacos and bingo. But I don't care. OMFG THEY HAVE SO MUCH BEER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We stopped here for brunch on our way back to Cleveland on a Sunday early afternoon. The place is long and narrow with the front half table service and the back is the bar. The bar was fairly busy (football), the tables about half full. We were told to sit anywhere we'd like so we took a table and our server was quick to get us our drinks. I ordered coffee, water and soda. The coffee was only luke warm, but very good coffee, not your average cup of joe. The water a bit salty, but the soda was perfect. The reason I am rating the soda is because a perfect soda can go a long way when you're slightly hung over (went to a holiday party the night before), it's like a miracle cure. My boyfriend ordered the Denver omelet, and his two sides, bacon and hash browns. He really enjoyed the omelet, a lot of cheese and peppers and onions and meat and whatever else comes on a Denver, the bacon cooked perfectly, crunchy, hickory smoked very flavorful. The hash browns were a huge let down though...it was like they took a little bit of hash brown and then just flattened the heck out of it on the grill. So all that was left was this really, really thin piece of overcooked inedible crispy hash brown patty, personally I like a little fluff in my potatoes. I ordered the Avocado and Goat Cheese BLT. The menu said two sides unless otherwise noted, well it wasn't noted otherwise anywhere for this entrée however when I placed my order the server told me only one side. Let down, but oh well, no big deal. I ordered the Ale-soaked Home Fries made with Rivertown's Lil' Sipa IPA... Sounds amazing right? Well not so much, the fries lacked any real flavor. Maybe it was because they were so thinly cut and too crispy (again a little fluff in my potatoes). The avocado and goat cheese BLT, was missing the avocado...Oops! By this time the restaurant had started getting really busy and all the tables were full, so it was a bit difficult to get the server's attention. I finally did and they brought me some avocado. They were very friendly and very apologetic. My only real complaint about the sandwich was that the bread, although delicious and tasted homemade, was sliced too thick and the bacon, avocado and cheese were cut into tiny little pieces. The flavors were there, the sandwich was really good...I would only suggest either smaller bread or more avocado, bacon and cheese to fill it.

My Aunts brought me here & I'm so glad they did! So many vegan options at a bar? Unheard of outside Ann Arbor... Sloppy Josés were the special, & I had the vegan version with French fries. The sandwich was great, spicy but not too much. The fries were seasoned so no ketchup was needed. It was a little too noisy to be able to hear all five of my companions but I'd expect that from a bar.

  • Katie S.

Have been here several times. Pros: -great beer selection with descriptions of each beer - vegetarian options: fried avocado sandwich, veggie chili, salads -best fried pickles I've had -friendly waitstaff

  • Mandi S.

Their beer selection is wonderful. Cool bar located in the only cool spot in Dayton. I enjoy the Oregon District, but it isn't a real OD trip u less we stop at luckys. The pb&j is excellent.

  • Jessica H.

Great place for vegetarians. The veggie chili is ok, but the real star is the seitan whether as a "wings" substitute or in the chicken salad sandwich. Many unique brews on tap and even twinkies made with beer! A great lunch or late night stop in downtown Dayon's Oregon district.

  • Amy M.

What a delicious local restaurant! There's limited seating, but when you can grab a table or a seat at the bar, you're in for a treat! Local brews, FANTASTIC food. We had the fried pickles, which were amazing! I had The Goat burger... So fresh and tasty! My husband had The Russian and it was amazing. But the fries. Oh man the fries were ohhhhhh sooooooo good!

    (5)
  • Michael M.

First visit. Packed Friday. Great beer selection and food was fantastic. Fried pickles as an app were seasoned great and arrived just in time. The Russian sandwich for me, the Goat for my bride. All local made. Servers were busting it out, keeping it clean and keeping the customers happy. Can't wait to return!

  • Kurt M.

Really enjoyed the "carving board sampler" particularly the crispy sausage bits. Ask Jason to hook you up with beers you will love. Then... Just when you think you are done... Bacon chocolate cake!!! Yes, it is just as amazing as it sounds!!!

I wanted to like this place more. It was full at 11am so I am hoping the kitchen was just having an off day. Brunch menu looked promising but hash browns were so greasy I couldn't eat them. Other food was bland. I would give the food two and a half stars (based on what I ordered) and the service a five. Ask for Chuck.

  • Jeff G.

Went here for brunch today. I had the chicken and waffles. It was incredible! The chicken was so tender and juicy with such savory flavor. I smothered it with maple syrup and chowed like I havent eaten in a week. I washed it all down with a Mad Tree Identity Crisis (Porter). I have been here many times and would give them 10 stars if they were available.

Lucky's is my go-to place in mid afternoons. Love the tiny old bar, the staff is great, my veg friends can eat there, and there's lots of beer to please the brew-o-philes. I'm glad its door is open when other cafes in the Oregon District lock up between 2 and 4 (why?)--just when I'm done with work and want a pub experience. I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could because it's pretty darn consistent and just has an overall good vibe without trying too hard.

  • John M.

This was the first place I went to after moving to Dayton. Service was slow, though in their defense the place got super busy after I got sat. I got a burger with avocado. flavor was very good but they charge $15 for it when I'd say it worth $10. Was pretty loud but not unexpected. Prob wont come again.

So many vegan/vegetarian options. The seitan buffalo wings were delicious. Aside from having ample vegan options is their amazing beer selection. They serve numerous beers including Toxic Brewing Co. The place is on the small side regarding space size, so it may be hard to find a table on the weekends. Go early if you want to get a spot. All the staff members were on top of it, super nice and quick to clear plates/glasses off the table. Thanks for the great time Luckys!

Came to Oregon District for a pretty deployment outing with friends. We just got started on our night and friends were hungry so we left Toxic Brewery after a beer or two and then headed to Lucky's on a friends recommendation. Our group of about 8 split as me and a friend waited to close tabs and the rest went ahead. When we arrived we were told it was full and would have to wait. No problem. Later we see someone inside grab their friends who arrived after us and bring them in because they had saved seating for them. Our friends were just inside the door and had done the same for the two of us who were behind so I informed the man at the door and he then began telling me I was a "short mouthy f***" and refused to let us in as he had the group before. He would not provide a name, not get a manager or supervisor and refused to do anything but berate my friend and I for no apparent reason. Needless to say our friends closed out their tabs and we were quickly on our way elsewhere and I made sure everyone else on the way in knew how they treated us as their customers. Will not be coming back here until that man is gone. I have posted a picture of the employee for everyone's reference.

Well, it's just an average pub with average pub fare. There was a nice beer list, but the food was unremarkable. I doubt I'll be back.

Sweet lil place with excellent burgers!!. Lots of draft beer options as well. Fries were delicious, bit pricy.

This is an eclectic bar . Great beer on tap great food. Attentive bartenders. I steer visitors to dayton to stop in and enjoy this bar.

Really good food and beer. The goat burger and the avocado & goat cheese sandwich are a must. Sweet potatoes fries are delicious. Staff was friendly and provided a good service.

By far my go-to place for brunch. I've never had a bad dish here. The beer menu regularly rotates with plenty of options...anywhere from 15 to 20 at any given time. It also a full bar including a Bloody Mary bar for brunch.

  • Carley N.

I absolutely love this place. Sometimes it's a little hectic if you are trying to eat during the later hours of the evening (all the drinking folk are out). The seating is extremely limited. There have been several times we have come in and it's simply too crowded to find a seat (it's all first come, first serve). That being said, it's always worth the effort. The servers are always fantastic. You can tell they really like working here. The food is bar non with plenty of gluten free, veggie, and vegan option. Plenty to go around.

    (5)
  • Beth T.

Awesome - Brunch was incredible! Had the Oat pancakes, and an omelet. Delicious! Bartender was friendly, informative. Had a bloody mary with local vodka - Belle Distillers - they even have a Bloody Mary bar- you can customize your drink with peppers, pickles, olives and hot sauces! We will be back to try their dinner menu, and a few more brunch options.

Everything about Lucky's is great. Their beer selection is outstanding and the food is really good. The Oregon District has really come a long way in the last few years. Lucky's is part of the Oregon's transformation from a a meat market for the early 20s crowd to a destination for people that want craft beers and good food. Lucky's is definitely worth your time.

  • Benjamin B.

Always a great selection of beers. Friendly service, great atmosphere, solid bar food at a reasonable price. This is where a lot of locals and industry people hang out before and after their shifts. The noise can get pretty loud late at night... but it is a bar. During the day it's rather subdued and calm. Highly recommended. Lots of veggie options. Great hot dog specials.

  • Annie S.

Unbelievable food for a pub: Beer battered fish and chips (I got to choose my beer) paired with fantastic sweet potato fries and special sauce, Nathan's burger with red cabbage slaw an beer cheese was peachy and Grandma's Sausage Burgundy was amazing with Irish mashed potatoes that tasted like mountains of butter! I loved all of it. To finish our meal 3 small cookies were brought to us for $1.50 and they were the daily special "Peanut Butter & Banana" Perfect evening out! Great service! Great times!

  • Nancy K.

Great rotating beer selection. They don't take reservations so you may have to wait at the bar for a table to open up.

    (4)
  • Jeffrey W.

Fried pickles are a must, no skimping on the pickles and the breading is perfect. Avocado and goat cheese BLT is a go to. Great rotating selection of craft beers.

Delicious pub grub in a neat area of Dayton. Make sure to put on your sunglasses when you head out after lunch though... or just stay a while longer to enjoy the fresh ingredients, friendly servers and fantastic beer selection.

  • Kristyn F.

Excellent vegan options while having options for our omnivore and gluten free friends as well. The bar is generally full of hipsters. We typically have better luck with the waiters while the waitresses here seem to disappear.

  • Ryan M.

It was tasty food and good service however the problem was with the spinach salad my girlfriend ordered. It was an $8 salad and literally had a single layer of spinach. It was tasty but just because she ordered a salad doesn't mean she only wanted enough food to feed a rabbit.

  • Not Your Average ..

used to come here for the food but it hasn't been all that great lately. they have many great beers and the staff is really friendly. place is cool. wish the food would get back to being good though.

  • Michael B.

Landon is an exceptional bar tender. Cool bar. Fried pickles are gold. Ale soaked chips are for real. Beet and goat cheese needs to loose the onions or replace with lighter variety, maybe scallions. Tasty otherwise. Grilled cheese and bacon was nice but bread was a little thick for my liking. Great bar food overall. I'd go back. Great beer selection, other than the PBR.

We're out of towners & stopped in to fill a growler. Enjoyed samples & great conversation with the lovely locals & an awesome bartender! They offered a delicious variety of seasonal beers. We settled on Night Tide. Cheers!

This is hands down the best casual joint in the Oregon District. The beer selection is good, the service is great, and I think I would write bad checks for their fish and chips.

The food was excellent. The service was great. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a great burger.

  • Mark W.

The best veg pub food I've had in the area. Awesome craft beers, excellent house made food, great staff. Had the BBQ seitan bites, I'm not a big fan of seitan but these were awesome! Also had my first veg reuben. It had two kinds of veg meat plus house-made coleslaw, house-made dressing and swiss on a marble rye roll. Their chick pea burger is also very good. Great place to grab a burger, awesome beer or veg plate.

  • Anastasia D.

Vegetarian paradise! This was a fairly regular meeting places for my friends. Their binder of beer will point you in the right direction. I always go for the seasonals. As for their food, you really can't go wrong. The last time I went, I ordered veggie reuben. DELICIOUS!

We stopped in this past weekend while visiting family in the area. They had been there before and enjoyed the food and beer selection. We arrived around 2 pm and when we were seated, we were one of maybee three tables filled in the restaurant. We gave drink orders...15 minutes later we received our drinks (one of the drinks came out wrong) and placed our orders. 45 minutes after ordering our food came out. They had forgotten one of the meals and said they would have it out in a minute, 15 minutes later and the food was not out yet, so we cancelled it as everyone else was already finished eating. It was a shame because the food was good and the beer selection was good. However the service was just awful. The worst part was, the waitress knowing everything that had gone wrong, did not even apologize.

My out-of-state friend found this place on Yelp and we decided to give it a try. Sometimes it can be hard to find good vegetarian and vegan food in my part of Ohio, so Lucky's was a very welcome surprise. The menu was a decent size, and everything sounded delicious. Great selection of brews, both local and non. We opted for fried pickles and seitan "wings" for our appetizers, and both were good. The in-house vegan ranch was above most offerings I've had, so that helped. For our main courses, everything was very good. I went for the fried avocado sandwich, not something I've ever heard of before, but very delicious. Very crisp on the outside, yet still creamy and delicious inside. I also tried a bite of the vegan potato salad, and it was exceptionally good. I would order this stuff by the tub. Our server, whose name I unfortunately forgot, was excellent and friendly. I would not hesitate to return here a thousand times.

In addition to the great beer selection, Lucky's has the BEST BURGER in town. You must come and try THE JUDGE - bacon, egg, and onion rings.

  • Vicky M.

DELIIIIISH. Also very knowledgable about gluten free and I felt very comfortable eating here. They have a DEDICATED GLUTEN FREE FRYER so you can have sweet potato fries guilt free. Also vegan cheese ... it's been so long that I've had cheese on my nachos (as in never) that I didn't even know what kind of vegan cheese to get (mozz or cheddar)(cheddar was suggested). Great good great service great price :)

  • Ry H.

You have got to try the Fried Avocado Sandwich!! It is amazing! Their rotating beer list (Beer Bible really) is always full of great and unique selections. Great place to relax with friends or after a long day at work. O highly recommend this place!

  • Paul M.

I would like to give 3.5... not huge but good beer selection. Menu is just bar food with a little creativity thrown in with OK variety. I had the Goat (cheese) burger was good with shoestring fries ( frozen - did not seem house made) and sauteed beet greens tasted good but were sandy( not washed before cooking). The service ok... etc....just seems like if they tried a little harder across all fronts would be spot on.

Seitan wings. 'Nuff said. Dropped by while working in the middle of nowhere for a business trip. Googled "vegetarian" and found a listing for this place. I drove 45 minutes mainly because they have a grill used for vegetarian items! That, my vegetarian friends is a rarity. This bar/restaurant seems a bit more bar-y to me, but it was great. If it was in my hometown, I'd frequent it. The menu was pretty expansive and the beer selection seemed good. And there was a good crowd. Everything from suits to hipsters. I'm definitely a fan. Worth checking out if you happen to be in Dayton.

Good food, good beer, and knowledgeable staff. This is definitely going to be my go-to place for dinner and drinks. The location is small, but the service is great and it has a great atmosphere. I had the Pulled Chicken sandwich with the sweet and spicy honey mustard sauce and a side of Green Beans. The green beans were crisp, fresh, and perfect. The pulled chicken was really tender and delicious, but I found myself wishing I had ordered something with more ingredients. My date got the Judge burger with sweet potato fries, and it was all sublime. If you are unsure what beer you want, you can sample, and the staff is really knowledgeable to steer you in the right direction. I will be returning to Lucky's frequently for sure!

First time visit to Lucky's in the Oregon District for lunch with my brother. Dimly lit and sparse of patrons, this is definitely a bar. But, the menu and beer selection was a notch above the usual bar fare. The usual suspects were there--burgers and lite beers--yet, if your pallet is searching for a bit more sophistication, I think the food and draft beer menu offers a selection to satisfy whatever urge. Decent menu of craft beers on tap including a local brew from Yellow Springs. I was interested in a stout but, the one on tap was too hoppy for my taste so, I settled on the Pumpking Southern Tier. Our server, pleasant and attentive, helped to narrow my food selection--a fried avocado sandwich. It was excellent! The combination of Sriracha, cilantro, and cream cheese, with just the right amounts, was flavorful between thick, toasted wheat bread. Yum! Lucky's was a solid experience.

Thee best food - love those fried pickles and service was top quality. With many varieties of craft beer the young lady knew them all and recommended the best for your meal. Highly recommended for that special evening out or hitting happy hour with the folks from the surrounding area.

Went here for my bros bday. Food took nearly an hour to get. Appetizers, sides didnt come out esrly which we asked for. I got the hearse burger and thought it was nothing special. Will not be going back

Somewhat enjoyed the place until I discovered it's run by petty childish assholes who don't appreciate their repeat customers. Not going back.

Beer. This place has a great selection of it. It's a nice, cozy little spot. Not huge, but I like the old feel and the ambiance. It just seems like one of those places that would be in a sitcom where a group of friends always hang out. The servers have always been friendly, and pretty knowledgeable about the menu and beer choices. I like the kind of beers they keep on tap, and I especially like that they have a menu with a description of the beers. The food is delicious too. Definitely a place I plan on frequenting often.

To say I like Lucky's would be the understatement of the year (excluding, of course, anything any politician says). Not only do they have a kind and helpful staff, a wealth of fabulous beer (which rotates), but an extensive selection of excellent vegan pub food. I'm talking chickpea burgers (my obsession), seitan burgers, soy hot dogs, and a vegan turkey Reuben. Lucky's has A BINDER of beers and WANT you to sample them. L-O-V-E. By far my very favorite spot to have dinner and a few pints with friends in the Oregon District. I have to admit, the lack of a pool table and real patio (a la Trolley Stop) are not so awesome, but then again, hitting up two places for THE IDEAL 5th STREET NIGHT is EASY, so it really doesn't make a difference. Did I mention their tons of delicious vegan items and BINDER of beer? That's all you need to know. Go get Lucky. Now.

  • Kari B.

I love Lucky's! It has great beer on tap AND amazing vegetarian options - which are two things that (sadly for this lady) rarely go hand in hand. I live in Denver but I make my boyfriend take me here every time that I visit to satisfy my craving for their seitan wings.

Well I'm from Oregon and this place is awesome. Cream Brûlée stout beer sausage and cheese followed by angry Russian. This place has Oregon flare and great food.

Liked this place a lot. We stopped in on a Monday night before going to a show at the Schuster Performing Arts Center. We ordered several drinks, the charcuterie and the chicken nachos. We were definitely very pleased with the charcuterie --good crackers, sausage, and 3 dips: a bacon jam, a beer cheese, and a red pepper hummus. We were hungry when we arrived, and this definitely hit the spot. We also really liked the prices on the drinks --very, very reasonable. Would definitely return!

I have loved everything I have ordered off their menu! The best bar food in the Oregon district since it isn't your typical bar food!

  • Dan S.

I've been a regular at Lucky's since it opened. In a few short years it has become a "go to" place when I want to bring friends--even out of towners--for great beer and an interesting menu. The Lucky's food menu is small but reliably good and includes a respectable and surprisingly tasty selection of vegan and gluten free items. The specials are also worth trying. On a taco Tuesday recently I had Korean beef tacos that were to die for. Aside from adjusting the sweet-potato fries recipe there really isn't much I'd change.

They have a great draft beer list here, but unfortunately they have pretty bad service the few times I have been here. Their food is alright... I've had a few things here, and my least favorite thing so far has been the Buffalo chx sandwich, While it was fairly decent, it was a single piece of chicken on a huge bun. It should have at least been two pieces of chicken. It was mostly flavorless, which isn't to say bad, just unimpressive. Truthfully if you are going to Lucky's you are going there for the beer list. And it's a good one, provided you like stouts (i believe it is a rotating list, but every time i've been there the list was almost completely stouts. Good ones mind you, but that is not my personal beer preference. All in all, I'm gonna probably go back to Lucky's and enjoy myself. Just not the best pub food I've ever had.

This place is a bit small, but not usually overcrowded. I come for the vegan food and microbrew beers on tap. The vegan quesadilla with soyrizo added (optional) is my favorite menu item. The quesisdillas have crispy edges and gooey vegan cheese, and a healthy portion of guacamole, as visible in the pictures. I also like the nachos with chili and the veggie gyro (no cheese or sub in daiya). I heard the beet-kale salad is amazing too. For sides, I recommend the sweet potato fries, the beet greens (cooked, like spinach), the side salad with vegan ranch dressing, or a vegan soup, including their chili. The veggie dogs are good but I don't like gluten-free hot dog buns, and it got lumped with the vegan bread. It's edible, but I've only gotten it once, so go figure. The soups are great, and they also make their own vegan burgers. The chickpea burger was really great -- savory and delicious. They usually have vegan beer twinkies for dessert, and I like to take one home and eat it later because the flavors are so good and the ingredients are too.

The food and service is great. The sandwiches are fairly priced, and I enjoy that I can choose my own beer batter for my fish and chips. Speaking of beer, the beer selection is great. There are so many different types of beers and still fairly priced. Every time I go to Dayton I make an effort to go here and try something new each time. Also, the spinach dip comes with fried spinach wraps. So weird, but a good weird! It melts in your mouth.

Hands down one of the best places in the Oregon District. A little loud & packed, but it was Friday night. I recommend the beer battered fish with lawn conqueror (yes you get to to pick the beer for the batter) followed with a piece of the bacon chocolate cake. You will not regret it.

This is one of my favorite stops to make for brunch and in the evening. The beer menu is ever changing and has great variety - they also provide suggestions to pair food with the beer. The food is not your typical bar food - the chili is spicy (just the way I like it), sweet potato fries (yum), steak sandwich with blue cheese (need I say more) and just recently they added these great little sliders. They even have variety for vegans. The staff is friendly and attentive to the needs of the customers.

Really fun atmosphere with great beer and great food. I'm a vegetarian and love to come here for all the veggie options. The meatless rueben is awesome, as well as the falafel.

If you haven't tried Lucky's then you need to hurry up and get there. Very cool environment with great food and great people. I think that is the best way to sum it up. Dropped by yesterday just before the dinner rush and sat at the bar. I could have sat down at Cheers, the people around the bar were regulars and all very nice. The bartender was amazing, she had some good recommendations on their taps. The fried pickles were the best! A perfect balance of flavor.

I moved to Dayton in July of 2012 and immediately set out to find great places to eat. While my search has seen a lot of disappointments, Lucky's is an oasis in a sea of lousy dining. Ok, I know....Lucky's is a bar. But for bar food it rocks. I love the chili. I'm not sure what it was about the chili but for several months I was addicted to it. I wanted to eat it all the time. I've weaned myself from the chili and try other things, but sometimes I still need my fix. Then I discovered they serve Sunday brunch. Lately, I've gravitated toward the breakfast tacos, but I got hooked on the their pancakes for a while. I also have a thing for the breaded mozzarella sticks. I'm not sure what it is about Lucky's but I become serially addicted to different items on their menu - and I have no explanation for it. This doesn't happen for me at other establishments...only at Lucky's. Unlike others on Yelp, I have always found Lucky's to be a most friendly, comfortable place. Yeah, it's a bar...but it's one of my favorite places to eat. I rarely drink alcohol there.

I actually found Lucky's through Yelp. I was going to a wedding right down the street and was looking for somewhere to go and get some lunch and watch the Ohio State game beforehand. Check and check. It wasn't crowded at all, probably because I assume it's more of an evening spot. We were able to walk right in and pick our own seats. Our server was very friendly and super accommodating. I got a chicken salad sandwich and sweet potato fries, which were very good. Didn't try any beers as it was pre-wedding. Overall, a good experience. If I come through Dayton again I would definitely go back.

I continue to love, love, love Lucky's for their food and their service. They have vegan options available with a good variety of ingredients, and their staff are always polite to me with respect to my super special diet. :) I wanted to update to add that Lucky's frequently has some sort of charity night during which a percent of their sales goes toward a charity. Lucky's will choose the charity or local community group and puts it out on their Facebook page. It's likely they announce the charity elsewhere, but I get the info from their status updates. Anyway, support this deluxe business. They are good people and have good food and good beer.

Fantastic place to grab lunch or dinner. The staff is always entertaining and you won't find a better selection of rotating beers. Always a wide range, so there will be something for you no matter what style you like. The staff is helpful and willing to let you sample drafts if you are really having a hard time deciding. Now- if you are going on a Friday or Saturday night- I take all this back. Be prepared for it to most likely be packed. Sometimes with younger, drunker patrons. If you have a low threshold for tolerating these types, I highly suggest you wait till Sunday night. Oh! And you have to try the build-your-own dog!

An update now that I've been here 4 times or so... More beer on tap than I counted last time, 10 or more, plus last night they had a keg of a Bell's porter which was tasty. I had the ham and cheese (loaded with tomato, onions, pickles) and sweet potato fries. It was awesome. Also, had the sweet potato fries... while not a huge sweet potato person, anything fried with salt is fantastic and these take that and run with it. The crowd is pleasant, service good, and not too spendy - a fair amount of beers and dinner was under $30.

There are lots of great beers on tap, too, and not just the usuals - a really interesting selection, and it sounds like they rotate on a regular basis. Went to Lucky's around 5pm this past Sat. The bar seating was full, so we grabbed a table. We sat there for over 20 minutes without a server coming over to help us. We watched the server check on the other tables around us, talk with her co-workers, play with her hair and just stand around. So we got up and left. I've been to Lucky's numerous times and most of the time I've had a bad experience. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Still haven't figured out how different bartenders charge different prices for the same beer within 15 minutes of each other. And it had nothing to do with any happy hour pricing.

Been to Lucky's a few times now and have loved it every single time. It can get kind of crowded at night but the brunch hours usually aren't too crowded and the food is AMAZING. Got a bloody from the Bloody Mary bar and the eggs Benedict light with the ale soaked homefries. Yum. Awesome way to start the day. The staff is also very friendly and helpful, always willing to give you an opinion on food or beer or whatever. If you're looking for a good food and a fun place to go lucky's is perfect!

I heard nothing but raves about the tasty food here so I went one lovely evening. Ordered the gyro sandwich & the fries. The crisp fries tasted heavenly (fried food lovers unite!). The white pita pocket overflowed with shredded lettuce, grilled lamb strips and feta cheese! I savored every mouthwatering bite. The dimmed lighting and aged dark hardwood floor creates an intimate yet casual ambiance for a good catch-up with friends. Or, bring a date who doesn't mind grabbing a drink for some casual conversation. They carry a decent wine and beer selection. Our server sweetly recommended some popular menu items. The food itself is memorable and quite satisfying; they serve large portions so I was really thrilled to take some yummy fries home. I'd come back!

Awesome place! I came in on a fairly quiet Wednesday night and right off the bat I'm givin a sampler of the beer of the night :) This place has lot's of great beers from all over the country, but still supports the local faire. I also ordered the half string and half sweet potato fries and they were awesome. I especially liked the dipping sauce they came with. The bartender is friendly and knowledgeable and knows how to treat his customers right. I'll definitely be coming back when in the area.

You wouldn't expect a place know for its beers on tap to have great food but this place is the exception. Not only do they have many great drinks on tap but their food is great too. I recommend the Chicken Pesto Sandwich with fries. Also their Mozzarella Sticks are freshly made a delicious.

Good food. GREAT beers! This is a place you should've come to when you want to try something new. They always have something worth checking out. I really like the Cordon Bleu sandwich. I despise this bar. The setup is horrible. There is no room. If you come in on a busy night expect to get bumped into by every person coming in. The service is passable. I have never eaten here so have no opinion on the menu. Every time I give this place another chance it's always a bad experience.

Went here last night to grab dinner with my boyfriend. We are both vegan and have loved luckys. Sadly, we were disappointed the past couple times we've eaten here. They have started using seitan in everything and it is just not that great. I had the chicken salad sandwich last night and the seitan completely ruined the flavor. We do love their vegan nachos and chili and seitan nuggets. I hope they keep the vegan food up!!

That was the case our evening.... I wish someone would have said at least, sit down, you're bothering the rest of the customers. Lucky's, don't slack up.... you have a good thing going.

By far my go-to place for brunch. I've never had a bad dish here. The beer menu regularly rotates with plenty of options...anywhere from 15 to 20 at any given time. It also a full bar including a Bloody Mary bar for brunch.

Great place for vegetarians. The veggie chili is ok, but the real star is the seitan whether as a "wings" substitute or in the chicken salad sandwich. Many unique brews on tap and even twinkies made with beer! A great lunch or late night stop in downtown Dayon's Oregon district.

Good food. GREAT beers! This is a place you should've come to when you want to try something new. They always have something worth checking out. I really like the Cordon Bleu sandwich. And they also have a great chicken salad. It can get really crowded really quickly, which can be a problem. So get there early, and be ready to have a good time!

I despise this bar. The setup is horrible. There is no room. If you come in on a busy night expect to get bumped into by every person coming in. The service is passable. I have never eaten here so have no opinion on the menu. Every time I give this place another chance it's always a bad experience.

You wouldn't expect a place know for its beers on tap to have great food but this place is the exception. Not only do they have many great drinks on tap but their food is great too. I recommend the Chicken Pesto Sandwich with fries. Also their Mozzarella Sticks are freshly made a delicious.

Second time here and Bloody Mary was good! Food not so much nothing special about the chicken nachos or the meat and cheese plate.

Excellent vegan options while having options for our omnivore and gluten free friends as well. The bar is generally full of hipsters. We typically have better luck with the waiters while the waitresses here seem to disappear.

It was tasty food and good service however the problem was with the spinach salad my girlfriend ordered. It was an $8 salad and literally had a single layer of spinach. It was tasty but just because she ordered a salad doesn't mean she only wanted enough food to feed a rabbit.

Now.

Well, it's just an average pub with average pub fare. There was a nice beer list, but the food was unremarkable. I doubt I'll be back.

Nice environment for dinner and your typical bar restaurant. Not too loud for a bar and upscale bar food. Good for vegetarians as well with several options. Had the jerk chicken sandwich and cheese board. Would definitely recommend both. Would consider coming back!
