My family and I went last night for dinner. We had heard of this place and had been intrigued. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised by well maintained exterior gardens. Open entering we were immediately greeted and seated. Our waitress was very pleasant and quick. The food was exceptionally good and the beer selection was great. I would recommend this place.

Been here three times. I tried giving it a chance but it didnt work out. They have great decor, great environment, good service, and sub-par food. Ive ordered some of their chicken sandwiches and I've gotta say, for 9 bucks, it was an absolute joke. I got the mediterranean chicken sandwich the last time i went, with little/low quality meat, cheap bread, extremely dry, just a terrible sandwich especially for 9 bucks (i wouldnt pay more than 3 for this). My family had the pizza which was ok, but only because its pretty hard to screw up pizza. The sauce was pretty unique, somewhat sweet, crust was crunchy at some points and soft at others. Good portion of toppings, but the cheese just seemed kind of cheap. Some positives i would say is the bar, the appetizers and the fries. They also have live music some nights. Bottom line: if you want good food, dont come here. If you just want to have a good time with friends and/or hang at the bar, then go for it.

Jimmie's has a decent craft beer menu. The service was pleasant. We had the creole cheesecake appetizer which would have been a little better with some Italian bread or crostini. The Italiano and the Shrimp Po' Boy were very tasty. We will definitely bring our friends here when they come to visit.

Great food, the waitress told us everything there is homemade and I believe it! Prices extremely reasonable for the amount of food you get and our waitress Louise was super nice and very very responsive.

Jimmy's has a great atmosphere set in an old horse fire house , good was excellent with a better selection than typical bar food with some bar favorites

This place is awesome! The interior is really interesting. They did a fantastic job with the place. My food was all vegetarian, but not at all lacking in flavor. Great service. I highly recommend trying this place.

Very cool building!! Went for lunch on a Wednesday. The food was good but took too long to get to the table (30+min). The buns the hamburger came on were very yummy! No kids meal, so little disappointed there! Prices were good, do not think $$$, maybe $$! Will return.

Despite the good reviews for this restaurant that I have seen from other yelpers I am very discouraged and disillusioned with this restaurant. We went today at lunchtime. Granted, it was a Friday and so it was quite busy. We were seated upstairs which is nice and spacious but there were other groups up there that were very loud. I think that the service was really bad and slow. I ordered a diet Coke and got a regular Coke. When I asked for it to be changed it took about a half-hour for that to happen. Also I wanted steak on my salad instead of chicken. There was another salad with the same cost where you could choose either steak or chicken. But because the salad I ordered not only came with chicken they charged me a $1.50 up-charge. The waitress did explain that ahead of time so I wasn't surprised. When our orders arrived my cousin sandwich had grown cold because it waited downstairs so long for it to be brought up and served to us. My sister had ordered another salad and she told me on the way back to my office that it was horrible. I'm really just underwhelmed with this restaurant and it's not a place that I would choose to go to just because I wanted to eat someplace. There are many other restaurants nearby that I would prefer. We only chose this restaurant because of its' location and I will really think hard before I go back there again.

Went today for Fat Tuesday. Grew up with N'awlins cuisine. Had the oyster po boy and red beans and rice. Jimmy did a good job bringing red beans and rice to Dayton. Would love to see on menu again! I got a taste of the gumbo and its also good. Wish I could eat like this everyday!

We were told how amazing this restaurant is only to be sorely disappointed. The service and food were both of a low standard; the menu was all over the place and the food just was like a poor quality chain. Very disappointing.

This is a success story of a former dive bar in a former sketchy neighborhood. Named Jimmies Cornerstone, it sat on the corner where Miami Valley Hospital is located. MVH wanted the land, and offered Jimmie a huge amount of money for it. He said "I have employees that depend on me - I'm not selling." So MVH bought the 1894 Fire Station across the street and renovated it for Jimmie, leaving original woodwork, fireplace, and stair railings. It is drop dead beautiful here. And it opened on 11/11/11. Cool. Two stories and two patios. Had a design flaw that closed it 11/13/11 (plumbing in the crappers) All fixed now. The food...OMG the food. I love New Orleans, and they've got a cajan inspired menu along with other typical burgers, etc. I had the best Gumbo I've ever had outside of NOLA - sausage, chicken and shrimp. I think I licked the bowl. Then I had a crab meat cheesecake. I've never had that outside of NOLA, and this was good - so very good. I think it's one of their signature dishes, and it's worth the trip here alone. I mentioned sketchy neighboor. 20 years ago this wasn't a place i would go at night. That's all changed...this area is thriving, while retaining it's history. Sorta like NOLA! You can easily walk here from the hospital (1 block). Prices were very reasonable. This is Mom and Pop business at it's best. I hope Dayton supports Jimmies for years to come.

First time at Ladder 11. Loved the old firehouse look and feel. Our server, Lindsay, was great. Gave us good tips on the menu and drinks. I had the patty melt which was delicious. My partner had the Hawaiian burger which I tasted and It was also very good. Prices were about average. Patio looked very inviting though it was a bit too chilly to sit outside. Restroom was very clean. Overall, a nice, neighborhood place. we'll be back!

Ordered carry out as we live locally and have wanted to try this establishment. Got home and not only was the order incorrect but we had to cook our chicken wings! On top of that it took them over 45 minutes to get an order of pasta and chicken wings out. I would not recommend eating here.

The service was a little shakey at first but the meal was amazing. I had the Creole cheesecake and is awesome. A must have. The wife had Gyro and Greek fries. Not street vendor at midnight good but close.

Went to Jimmy's for my sister's 50th Birthday last night. Wow, the food was great, the service was stellar, and the place just has great personality. This place knows how to do large parties right. We reserved a 16 top in the upstairs portion of the restaurant. Our party was large, but the server refilled drinks, split our checks, and even helped serve birthday cake. As far as the food, HUGE portions. For an app I ordered the pretzel bites. They were fine, but my niece order the sausage stuffed bacon-wrapped dates. Wow- they had a kick and were full of flavor. For an entrée, I ordered Jimmy's Rigatoni. I subbed out the marinara for butter garlic sauce, and again - another exceptional dish. I f you're looking for a great place to host a party, reserve the upstairs. Jimmy's works really hard to make every welcome and happy.

This past weekend we ate at Jimmie's for the second time, took a few friends this time. Everything was fantastic once again! I'm telling you the food is some of the best I've had in Dayton in quite some time for the price. My wife had the pasta chips and pretzel bites, they were amazing! I ordered the greek burger and it tasted wonderful, even the feta sprinkled over the fries and the taziki sauce was perfect (obvisously yogurt based as it should be). Another person in out party ordered the nachos and these nachos were seriously some of the best I've ever had and there where more than enough for a couple people, the chips tasted like they were freshly made and the chili on top was great! We came here on a saturday night and anticipated a long wait so we called ahead to put our name in, saved us tons of time! I would suggest calling ahead on the weekends. Two tiny complaint about Jimmie's: #1 the tables are a little cramped and #2 it was a little loud inside but I think both issues are due to being there at a peak time on the weekend and the fact that this place is so danged good! I've eaten at a lot of places in town both bad and good and Jimmie's ranks right up there with the best of thgem in terms of quality, service, and variety with the best of them. If you haven't already, check them out!

Love this place! I have been here 4 times now and every visit has been great. I love the atmosphere and the food is delicious. I have had their calzones twice (homemade crust is awesome!) and the white pizza is also delish. If you go in on a Saturday night, there's a good chance you will catch a live band playing. They also have a nice sized patio which is great for warm summer nights. Highly recommended!

Ladder 11 is an excellent place to eat when staying at the Dayton Marriott. Really good food with some dishes you must try, Blind Dates being one. We sat outside and fully enjoyed ourselves while being able to discuss business. Will return!

Had the chef make a BBQ pulled pork pizza which is not on the menu and it is delicious. The waitress and cook were great!!! I will be back again!!!

I'm sad that they lost so much of what made them unique in their recent move across the street. I really wanted to like it here. Really, really. LOVED Cornerstone for what is was. Great bar food, decent service, people watching that was second to none, and totally reasonable prices. We always sat in the bar area, and watched one of the two tiny TV's, enjoyed our food and left. The new place is like a kid's club gone wild. No more high top bar tables, in fact, the bar is in the middle of the room surrounded by low tables. Now, all the messy, loud families that used to be relegated to the back rooms of the old location are close enough to show me their food, because the little darlings haven't yet learned to chew with their mouths closed. Just what I'm looking for in my dining experience. We couldn't get out fast enough. Now, the new place is beautiful, I'll give them that. The old firehouse is lovely, there are little touches on the rails, the walls, etc that are interesting to look at. But for what it used to be - unique, to what it seems to be now, a generic, dime-a-dozen restaurant, it's a huge let down. Bye bye, Cornerstone. I miss you.

I love this bar! It's only minutes from my house, so I patronize it quite often. Their food is delicious, they have live music on the weekends, and it definitely has a cool retro vibe on the inside. I have yet to try a dish I disliked. Great place to watch the game, go on a date, or out to dinner with the family.

This visit was terrible. We did call ahead seating and they told us 45 mins to 1 hr.the time kept getting longer and we didn't get seated until 2 hours and 15 min later. Despite the owner giving us a free round he was very defensive. I will never come again.

First time at Jimmie's, and we would definitely go back next time in Dayton. It is a bit loud downstairs, upstairs is a bit quieter. That said, we did not find it too loud. This is not supposed to be a quiet/private restaurant. It's in a firehouse though, what do you expect? The food was great. Try the meatball appetizer.... Absolutely outstanding. The food probably won't blow you away, but you won't be disappointed. The bar staff is a bit overwhelmed, so you may wait a few extra minutes for a drink if you are waiting/sitting at the bar. You will have to wait on the weekends. Call ahead is accepted (15 minutes). but you can expect about a 20-30 min wait. Staff was friendly and responsive.

Dinner last night, started good with Blind Dates. Then salad came and was not cool but not refreshing as a salad should be. Plates came too soon as we were not finished with salad. Sauce on pasta bland. Great location and cool spot to eat but turn up the food a bit.

This was our second visit and we have confirmed that Jimmie's will become a regular stop for us. The first visit was for dinner and the four people in our party all enjoyed their entrees. This visit was a late lunch with a plan to get some extra food for dinner later in the day. We started with the meatball appetizer and we really enjoyed it. It is a simple dish, six meatballs covered in a fresh marinara sauce and served with four pieces of garlic bread. It would actually make a great lite meal for someone who wasn't looking for a big dinner. My wife had the Greek salad which was really good. Everything was fresh and the dressing was very tasty. I had chicken wings which were just the way I like them, not too crispy. We also had a cheese pizza, mostly for dinner and other than the fact that they cut it Dayton style (lots of little squares) it was very good. All in all this is a great place to get whatever you might be in the mood for. We are looking forward to our next visit to try something new.

Ate here Sat evening with another couple (who recommended this place) before heading to Fraze. WOW!!!! How have I missed this? What a quaint little place. I was immediately impressed when I saw all of the beautiful flowers and landscaping outside the establishment in the middle of dreary downtown Dayton in an area that is now under heavy construction. Walked in and was delighted at the atmosphere and decor. The service was incredible! Our waiter was very attentive and took care of us very well. They had a very well-appointed bar but could not make me a mojito......no problem though. The glass of chardonnay I had more than made up for it. The food was upscale for a neighborhood bar. We had the date appetizers and they were just incredible. I had the Greek salad (forget what it is called on the menu) and my husband had a burger. I forget what our friends had but we all agreed that the food was great and so was the service. We will definitely make a return visit. Thoroughly enjoyed this place.

The Food is good, but their prices have jumped since they moved across the street and the portion on the pasta chips got smaller and that's disappointing.

Great atmosphere in historic fire house.... Heard about it on the McPherson Town home tour and took a group there from work for a late lunch. Service was good and my salad was delicious. I cant remember what it was called but it had dried cranberries and grilled chicken. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food and they can be a grumpy bunch. We will probably go back for future luncheons. Going at 1:00 worked out well all around.

We decided to try Jimmie's Ladder 11 on a Wednesday night, thinking it wouldn't be too crowded. We had to wait a couple of minutes for a table. Good for them. Great pub atmosphere. We were a multi generational table. My son ordered the pretzel bitz followed by the cornerstone sandwich which had chicken, slaw and French fries on it, all of which he thoroughly enjoyed. My husband ordered a salad and pork chops which he thought were great as well. My mother-in-law and I both ordered salads and the blackened walleye with mixed veggies. We both agreed that the fish was well prepared and that the wine by the glass was pretty good for a pub- like restaurant. All agreed that we would return soon.

I personally prefer this ...the new location to the tiny dive joint that was down the street. This is more family friendly and the food is very good. The last time I was their I had a blt with fried green tomatoes and loved it. I'd say everything I've order here us between good and very goid. I also like the firehouse decor. Cute little place .. free parking in the back.

Delicious lunch with my husband and son. Nice variety of sandwiches at very reasonable prices, with excellent service. My favorite though was the actual atmosphere of the old fire house, and the history presented throughout. The 2nd floor was an excellent continuation of the local area firehouse theme. The ladies' room didn't disappoint either! Overall, it was a great experience. I hope I can come back soon to watch a band or to eat on the patio.

Let me first address service....we had a group of eight and I thought our server went out of his way to have deliver excellent, jock and professional service. We ordered blu burgers, Tom'Turkey, pizza, noodles and butter, reg. cheese burgers, Gyro's, lots of sides and Ky Bourbon Barrel, cakes and Fat Tire's. All of the food was really good....I, of course had the blu burger. A good night was had by all. Could have gone to five stars. I'd say they're a candidate.

Bought a jar of the house garlic dressing to take home! Holy smokes, it was so so good with my big pot of homemade pasta! Ask your server and take some home. This homemade salad dressing is a winner!

Came to town to see a musical. -Looking for a place to eat, we drove past Jimmie's Ladder 11. Looked cute so we decided to give it a try and it was the BEST meal we've had in a long time! Started with delicious pretzel bites served with a sweet honey mustard and cheese sauces... I had a special: grilled teriyaki shrimp which were heavenly -served on a stick, legitimately grilled with pineapple, red onions, and cherry tomato. Came with a more than generous side salad. My husband had another daily special - fish tacos which he enjoyed very much. Finished off meal with a slice of key lime pie which was not too tart and not too sweet. Whole meal was marvelous!!! Was very impressed with variety of menu. Everything coming out of the kitchen looked fresh and hot... Wish i had room to try more! Great local place, wonderful bar with great selection, FRIENDLY staff (Christina was our waitress and she was on point! Very friendly, attentive, gave great suggestions), and awesome food!!! I would definitely go back if I return to Dayton. Cute porch I'd love to try!! Also seems like a fun place to go for dinner/drinks. They have live entertainment and a fun jukebox/photo booth. Fun, laid back atmosphere and old firehouse motif.

We tried Jimmie's restaurant location after having very tasty fries at their food truck. We were a party of four on a Sunday afternoon. Three of us had specialty sandwiches and one had a burger. The place was mostly full, but not overwhelmed. The food is just ok. I was expecting better. The service was very slow and the meals arrived cold. This wasn't too bad except the burger. The server took a long time to check back on us, and by that point we weren't going to bother sending it back. When the server picked up the mostly uneaten burger, we informed him it was served cold. We got just a mumbled "sorry". They need to work on their waitstaff. No one was hustling in that place. At least the fries were good again. Nice decor, although the table layout could use a second thought. I might swing by if I am hungry and in the neighborhood and alone, but I wouldn't make a special trip or meal of it.

Had a chance to visit for dinner after the Dragon's game last night, on a chance recommendation from the stadium staff. Was pretty busy, and it took a minute to be greeted, but the staff were warm and apologetic for the delay. I was flying solo, so decided to sit at the bar. I was quickly welcomed and given a drink and dinner menu. I decided on a local draft IPA and had the lasagna. The salad that came before the entree was basic but fresh, with a tasty cucumber and sweet/tangy house dressing. The lasagna was great- the marinara was hearty and tangy, and the sausage was a great mild counterpart to the sauce. Quite filling for a main entree, and a couple pieces of garlic bread made a nice way to sop up the left over sauce. Great balance of cheese, but not overly so. The lady tending bar was friendly but not overbearing, and seemed like the local crowd liked her. Overall, a great experience, and great food. Love having the chance to visit an old firehouse (I'm on the job in my hometown), and this was a definite pick. Thanks for making an out-of-towner feel welcome!

First time coming here and we were pleasantly surprised by everything! The inside is warm and inviting and decorated with lots of vintage firehouse memorabilia. Our server was super friendly and was very knowledgeable of the huge beer selection. Our food came out very hot, fresh, and tasted absolutely delicious! The shrimp po'boy had a spicy roumalade sauce on it and had a generous portion of tasty fried shrimp on top of a really yummy hoagie roll. I would totally order it again! I'm excited to bring my husband back so he can expierence this place too!

A good summer place to bring some friends, have a few drinks and eat some food. Their outdoor seating area is rather spacious and has a good vibe. It does get a little loud, however, since they put an awning over half the space, trapping noise. Fortunately, we were sitting away from the noise funnel. All summer long they have music at 930-1000 until late. So if you are looking for a semi-mellow night out. This place will do just fine. We ordered some pizza: half deluxe/half white. (We wished we had ordered a full white--it was definitely the better of the two). The service was good--quick and friendly. Food won't wow you but will satisfy an itch and is a not just your typical "bar-food" grade.

We went to jimmies last night. It was gloomy out which contributed to the low turnout. The two of us were seated immediately and quickly greeted by the nicest waitress. My date ordered the cheesesteak which was good. Her mash potatoes were ok not great flavor. I had the clam chowder, the cornerstone and fries. The chowder was good, a little sweet. The cornerstone had good texture, could use some more meat. Beers were good. Got out the door for $45 which included a healthy tip. I'll go back but it isn't in my top five downtown places to eat.

Might be my favorite bar/restaurant in Dayton. I live down the street, so I come at least once every couple weeks with friends or my boyfriend. Sometimes we come just for drinks and sometimes for dinner. My boyfriend is a big fan of the pizza and we both LOVE the pretzel bites. They always have a good beer selection, so it keeps us coming back every couple weeks to see what the new options are. Service has always been good as well. My only complain is that the restaurant is realllyyy loud when they have a band. We usually try to avoid going when there is music, unless it's something acoustic or we know we like the band. Would recommend anyone to check out Jimmy's though, perfect mix of upscale and casual.

Bland food and TERRIBLE service! The meatball appetizer was the only good part of our meal. I had the shrimp po boy, husband had the cornerstone sandwich. Both looked great, but we're missing flavor. Our server was the worst! Jimmies is busy during weekday lunches, we knew that going in. Our server had a large group as well as 3 or 4 small tables including us. He was downright rude to start. Slammed drinks on the table, said nothing and walked away before we could even ask for specials or recommendations. Food was slammed down with nothing said. Refills only came after we flagged him down and we never saw him until we made eye contact to get our check. Maybe we'll be back...maybe.

So I must admit this place was pretty darn cool. It's an old firehouse that was converted into a bar and restaurant. The drink selection was plentiful and the menu had tons of options. I ended up having a fish sandwich which was cooked perfect with a light breading. The servers kept our drinks full and tended to all our needs. Would definitely return in the future if I'm in the area. Very close to the University of Dayton.

Great and locally owned. Love all the food. The gumbo is good as well as the salads. The wrapped dates are insane if you like bacon. The story behind this place makes the visit special. If you are in Dayton or visiting don't go to the chains. Come here. Then hop on over to Oregon District.

What a great vibe and unique atmosphere. I love the history and the building. The food.... well it's pretty good, not great but good. I think if you are into the bar scene and good pub fare, wings, burgers etc, you will find this pretty good.

REALLY enjoyed this place! I was in town w/a co-worker for a project and we were driving around trying to get the lay of the land and figure out where to eat. We drove by and thought we'd check it out. It was a great find. The service was as good as the food and that was great. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we came back a second time in the week and it was just as good. I'll be back in town again next week and look forward to coming back!

Family went to Jimmie's Ladder 11 for lunch one day while in Dayton for grandson's high school graduation. I ordered the chicken quesadilla. I have had chicken quesadilla's in a variety of cities/states snd I can honestly say these are THE BEST that I have ever eaten - I was impressed. The tortilla was warmed/cooked perfect - not half burned, everything inside the tortilla was fresh and very tasty. I will definitely go back when in in Dayton again. Prices were good too. Staff was also very nice and attentive to our table.

Came for dinner and beers on a Friday night on recommendation from a coworker with my boyfriend for a nice date night. We had a wonderful experience here! Perfect for a date or a group, especially for those who love to find locally owned Dayton gems! 12 beers on draft the night we were there, both of us got local brews from Dayton's own Warped Wing brewery, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Food was excellent: we tried the meatball appetizer, which are homemade from Jimmie's Italian grandmother's recipe, according to the waitress. The meatballs were amazing, and so was the garlic bread that came with it. For dinner, I had the grilled cheese and a salad- it was cheesy, delicious, and priced reasonably. Best of all was the service- our waitress Amy was attentive, quick, friendly, and most of all knowledgable about the menu, the are, and the draft list. Her genuine enthusiasm for the place made us love it too. Lastly- try the peanut butter pie. Mind. Blowing.

Nice atmosphere, food was decent. The portions were huge especially the pasta. 4 people could eat off one plate. Pasta was bland, needs some spices. Husband said that was one of the best steaks ever!

  • Ryan M.

Couple things why this place is getting dinged, the major thing was the portion size. I left there still hungry. I ordered the shrimp po boy and had to upgrade for fries, since it comes with potato chips (lame, all the sandwiches do). The po'boy, although delicious was so small, that goes for the portion of fries as well. They basically spread a small portion of fries over the side of the plate to fill the space. I don't think I've been to a place where they they gave such a small portion. The other thing was they put in my friends order wrong, they did however buy her beer because of it. The wait staff was very friendly and they did cater to us. Firefighters can eat! And if they received the portions that we did I know they'd be more than a little hungry afterwards.

Tried Ladder 11 for the first time today based on previous recommendations from friends I trust. I have to say that I was not disappointed! Starting with the restaurant itself, it's a great atmosphere. Hard to go wrong with an old firehouse for atmosphere. Really enjoyed the pub feel inside. The fabric on the booth I sat in was getting pretty worn out. But the place was clean and the food smelled great. Our server was really good. She quickly got drinks, went over the specials, allowed our lunch group time to chat, took our food orders, checked back on us and got refills. Had a pleasant personality and overall did a great job. As for the food I was really happy with my choices. Started with a cup of chili to warm up with. It was meaty, reasonable amount of beans, thick, and made a great start to lunch. I had a simple cheeseburger and fries, always a good test. The fries were hand cut, hot, cooked just right. The burger was cooked perfectly, the meat was nicely seasoned and the topping fresh. My only minor complaint was the look of the tomato. It tasted fine, but was very pale. Then again, this was in mid-February after all. All in all, I am happy I made the trip and will go back again, especially when it warms up and we can sit outside.

I came here as a spoiled Angeleno with very low expectations on Dayton's food scene. I came away somewhat impressed with what Jimmie's Ladder 11 has to offer. THE FOOD First of all, the portions are enormous. I think more than one person at our party came home with leftovers. I ordered the noodles and butter with shrimp. Noodles and butter sound gross, but it was a lot like eating pasta alfredo. I liked it for what it was, but it didn't win me over. What did win me over was the refreshing mai tai that gave me a good buzz for our last night there. Plus, the cannoli and strawberry cheesecake were a delicious end to the meal. THE SERVICE Our servers were friendly and courteous. No complaints! THE ATMOSPHERE There doesn't seem to be a lot of room to roam in this place. I heard that the restaurant used to be a firehouse, and it seems that the management did a good job maintaining the feel of it. THE FINAL GRADE B- // Meh. I had a good time getting a slight buzz and hanging out with my friends, but I could have done without the hugely portioned, yet forgettable food. I liked this place because it was the best we could find in Dayton. Were this place to exist in L.A., I wouldn't give it a second visit.

Don't waste your time visiting here. The service is poor. We couldn't get drink refills. When we asked a question about the menu the waitress was rude. Finally, got our food and it was cold, bland, subpar. I had the supposedly slow cooked roast beef sandwich but it was very tough and chewy. Even the French fries were cold. Cool building but the food and service needs a lot of reworking.

Really good pastrami corned beef sandwich in a cool environment. So great to have a restaurant like this in Dayton. Great menu. Two more ounces of pastrami and I'd give it 5 stars.

Pretty cool spot, atmosphere is very authentic and they had some Zydeco music going on a Tuesday night. When I took my seat at the bar I was greater with the pleasant and taunting aroma of pizza. I almost had to change my mind on getting the gumbo po' boy. However, I ordered the gumbo and shrimp po' boy. The gumbo was spot on! I'll defiantly be going back for the gumbo!! The po' boy on the other hand left me wanting something more. Not sure what it was missing but it just didn't satisfy my craving. Maybe some cheese or a side of fries, instead of the cop out of chips. Every thing came out pretty fast, my gumbo had barely cooled down enough to eat before my sandwich came out.

Had a great experience at Jimmies tonight. Terrific atmosphere and Joel provided fantastic service. Our group of 7 included 3 kids and we had the meatball appetizer as well as the Blind Dates with entrees including the Noodles and Butter, kids Spaghetti and meatballs, the Meatball sandwich, the Shrimp Po' Boy, Gumbo and the Engine Salad. Everything was prepared well and we wouldn't hesitate to go back. Great option in Dayton!

Four of us went to Ladder 11 for dinner. It was bitterly cold outside (10 degrees). We arrived about 6 pm and were told it would be 1- 1.5 hr wait. There was no room at the bar so we stood by the stage since there was music. The stage is in direct line of the door. It was cold! Every time the door opened there was a blast of frigid air. A vestibule or wind curtain would be a great addition! Fortunately we were seated (within the stated time) near the back of the dining area, away from the door. It was still cold. I don't know how the people seated near the door enjoyed their meal at all. Our food was great, but honestly, I only remember the cold. I realize that it's a converted fire house. Probably it's hard to heat on a normal winter day, but truly, it made the dinner uncomfortable. Won't be back until spring.

My family & I have been passing by Jimmy's Ladder for quite some time. Today being a beautiful Fall day we decided to stop. The atmosphere inside was very loud as they had a band performing so we opted to sit outside. The patio is covered and very spacious. There is smoking allowed outside on the patio. I didn't realize this till several different guests decided to come outside for a smoke. As for food we ordered several items. The man of the group ordered the Philly and seemed to enjoy it. I chose a lunch special of gumbo & a house salad. The gumbo was quite good, it had a lil but of a kick to it and reminded me of gumbo I've had in the South before. The house salad didn't have much to it lettuce, cheese, croutons and dressing. We ordered chicken fingers for our children. They gobbled them right up. The crust was very light and the fingers were of a good size. We ordered cheese fries to share, they were ok. Personally I didn't think they were worth the $8 paid as they weren't all that special. Overall out food wasn't bad, it just wasn't anything extraordinary either. The service and atmosphere (minus the smoke) were the best part. I wouldn't mind going back again, when the mood strikes.

The building, history, and atmosphere alone make it worth the stop. Add in genuinely great service (thanks, Art!) and solidly good food and you have a winner. Oh, and it's a local establishment. We'll definitely be back. There are so many yummy things left to try.

I've been here a few times since I started working in Dayton. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the atmosphere here - it is totally awesome! The restaurant is built into one of Dayton's old fire houses, as the name implies. Seating can be tight, but it's not uncomfortable by any means. The beer selection has always been good each time I've been here. As for food (I'm not sure I've seen it mentioned yet) get a quesadilla for your meal! They are really delicious. I'm fond of the pulled pork or the "big fat Greek chicken" quesadilla. Portions are generous, but make sure to get one of their jumbo cookies for the road -- not that they'll make it home.

The wife and I haven't been here since the first few months after they opened in '11.. Remembering we really liked the food and beer, we stopped in and ordered beer and an appetizer: we were the only table in there, and we were served raw calamari ... When it was supposed to be battered and fried. Both the kitchen and server had time to notice the food was not suitable for serving, with two strikes already we paid for the beers and left before the third strike was served for dinner

Unique building with nice bar and patio seating. Entrance does require walking around the side of the building. Once a firehouse, the pole and original water tank adorn the building. Food was tasty and service was great, albeit a seemingly rather slow day. Portions were large and choices were good. Stage area for evening bands/performances - would definitely go back to check it out. Tip: check out photos on the wall.

This place is a find. Went here for dinner, it's in a really cool, restored fire station. Great atmosphere, mix of bar and grill. The food was well above average pub grub. They have burgers, sandwiches and Italian. The pasta was excellent, great beer selection and service was good. They have a stage and host live music regularly. The place was busy, but we didn't have to wait to be seated. Great place to catch a game or enjoy a nice meal.

Mind. Blowing.

Don't waste your time visiting here. The service is poor. We couldn't get drink refills. When we asked a question about the menu the waitress was rude.

I miss you.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
