I went here before a Blue Jackets game and had a pretty decent experience. It wasn't excessively crowded like I was expecting it to be. And I really liked the booth area. It was pretty cozy. I had a burger, and while it was pretty good, I didn't feel like the quality of the meal warranted the pricetag. I will say that the service was quite pleasant once we actually got attention, but we sat waiting for quite a while before someone came to our table, which was annoying.

Had a great meal here! Service was absolutely phenomenal and could not have been better. Ended up going with the bison strip steak, and it melted n my mouth. It was grilled to absolute perfection. I can't say enough good about it - you don't know what your missing here. The facilities were clean and comfortable, and the place is perfect for families or large parties. If your coming down to the arena district, it's a great place to stop for dinner.

I had some of the best steak I've ever had on a delicious salad here (so if you're not adventurous enough for the bison you'll still get a good meal!) Staff was extremely helpful, and the dessert was amazing.

While traveling home to NC from MI, my fiance and I stopped here for burgers to go. We stopped in on Easter Sunday and there was only one other full table. We bellied up to the bar and placed our orders to go - one bison burger + grilled onions, sans bun, sans cheese, add bacon, one beef burger, same as the bison. Our server was really a nice guy and put together a bag of napkins, forks, and mustard. He even threw in 2 cokes for us (we didn't ask and we weren't going to drink them since we are eating/drinking super clean). Burgers came, we paid, we were handed our bag, and out the door we went to continue on our road trip. We got into the car and I opened the bag to find he didn't include the napkins, forks, or mustard that we ordered. I also noticed they just plopped some raw onions on the side, SAD!! Where were our delicious grilled onions that the menu promised!?! And the broccoli....OH the broccoli was covered in cheese - parmesan I assume? How sad, I didn't even think I'd have to ask for my veggie to come as a veggie without being covered in dairy, and sadly, nobody asked if we wanted it that way, and even MORE sad was that the menu did not describe it as having cheese on top. We weren't taking any chances so we didn't eat it. The beef and bison were good, but paying $27 + tip + parking garage fee (after we were told it was free on the weekends or the garage could validate with receipt, FALSE) for meat patties was ridiculous, especially when those were the only things done right. If we had all the time in the world yesterday, I would've turned around and huffed it back inside and asked for things to be done right. Anyway, since this place is in Ohio, and I don't live there, I doubt I'll be back.

Disappointed. But not surprised. I've been to other Ted's locations, and my impression is that they have decent food, in a kinda swanky atmosphere, at high prices. That was confirmed here. The service was good enough. We ordered ahead, for pickup. I arrived on time, 20 minutes after I called, to a nearly-empty restaurant. The hockey game had just let out, but people were headed home or to other eateries. I waited 15 more minutes. The bartender was busy but helpful; the rest of the staff seemed to not be doing much. When I finally got the food, it was missing an item (which the bartender quickly corrected.) Sweetie asked to add some cookies, and we were thinking they would give them to us to make up for the wait, but nope. The food: good, not great. Overpriced, and while the portions were plenty for a meal, at the price we paid I had hoped to have leftovers for lunch the next day. I had the bison pot roast, and was unimpressed. It was a decent roast, but not amazing, and black pepper overwhelmed any other flavors. The mashed potatoes were very good, and the green beans were fresh. Sweetie just got mashed potatoes and sauteed mushrooms, which were good. Those cookies, snickerdoodles, were huge and super good. There's so much else available in the Arena District now that I will pass this by next time I'm down there.

We came here for a quick bite before a concert. I got the fried chicken sandwich and she got the steak salad. I should have went with something beef-related. Her steak was nice and juicy and perfectly cooked. My chicken was fine, just a little flavorless. Hot and crisp though. I'd recommend not serving tomatoes in the off season. Those pink sad things just brought the sandwich down a notch. The spread on the sandwich was really good. Creamy and tangy. I should have gotten a little more on the side. The fries were hot and crisp. Good for fresh-cut. We got a chocolate chip cookie too. Yum.

Ted's is pretty boring. You can get the same food just about anywhere else and it will be less expensive. The upside is that they do have bison which is slightly tastier than beef, but it's not enough to make me want to go to Ted's. I ordered the tomato salad as a side, and it was literally 2 thin slices of tomato on one piece of lettuce - no seasoning or anything, and the sticker was still on the tomato! Gross. Everything tastes pre-frozen and thawed. It gets super busy and noisy here very quickly at lunch time. The only thing I could compliment about this location is the well-placed patio which is nice to get a drink on. Other than that, anywhere else is a better bet for your money.

Bartender came around the corner and spilled simple syrup all over me and kept walking. Had to ask to see manager and all he did was say "sorry man". That was 2009 but I refuse to ever step foot here after that. Didn't have yelp then.

GO TO THE ONE IN DUBLIN!!!! Came down to Arena district to Ted's and had a bad experience. They close at 11, but when we showed up at 1015 we were ready so we could get in and out. Waiter started out bothered my party was parking still. Note: All parking out front was closed off and I am disabled so I was dropped off. They were out of 5 menu items and waiter said well when you come in at this time they are out of stuff. He then preceeded to tell us how long it was until closing time. He was agitated when we asked for ketchup and extra cheese. It was very obvious he did NOT want another table. Bad experience. He got out on time, because we couldn't wait to leave either.

Ted's is one of my favorite restaurants in Columbus. I bet I have eaten here over 50 times and have yet to have a bad experience. I used to eat dinner there every Thursday right before heading over to movie night at the Arena Grand. Now I don't make it there as much as I would like but I have to say the food is always good, the service is always excellent and I always have a great time!

Bison still great and best onion rings in the city of Columbus, Ohio. Bar staff needs to improve. Lacks knowledge of wine list and offerings. And this is a poor showing considering the wine selections on the menu.

Teds is my new favorite. Located in Downtown Columbus, we found ample parking and the place has is well lit. The decor is very nice and the restrooms are kept clean and tidy. We really enjoyed our waiter and he was quite entertaining. The restaurant chain is owned by media mogul Ted Turner and it doesn't appear as any expense was spared in design. They have these really nice booths that make it as if you are the only people in the restaurant. Well done Ted. For starters, they bring you something referred to as half pickles.. They are lightly pickled cucumbers, sliced and salted. They were a refreshing change to bread and tasted fantastic. All of the burgers on the menu can be made with Bison. We all gave it a shot and i now prefer Bison to beef. My burger was amazing. So juicy and flavorful served with a mix of half french fries and home made onion rings. As if it could even possibly get better, it did... As a suggestion of the waiter, i got home made fresh squeezed lemonade. Impressive.. and made paying the exoborant check well worth it. No, this place is not cheap.. and no, its not even reasonable.. But i have to tell you its one of those things you just pay for because of how wonderful it makes you feel. Is a Ferrari practical in Ohio snow? Hell no, but its a crap load of fun. That is kinda how i feel about this place. I'll be back.

Ted's is the first place that I have been to that has bison as an option to beef. Let me tell you the taste is very different. Really it's a shame that it never took off in the US. Have been to Ted's several different times during different times of day, have had a few longer waits but honestly if it was never busy I'd be worried. Also curtious staff , always good food, gotta try it!

Always good food, and they do so much to reduce the impact they have on the environment. Service is consistently friendly (except for the bartenders. Odd), and they manage rushes at lunch and during events with ease. These guys are pros. My favorite is the Big Sky salad, but the Chopped salad is good as well. Salmon is always perfectly grilled, and my friends who've ordered the bison burgers are addicted.

What can you say about Ted's? ONE WORD: BISON. Their bison burgers are amazing. I've been here a few times and each time my food has been fantastic. I mean, who doesn't like a big, juicy bison burger (sorry vegans/vegetarians...this place probably isn't for you)? I'll be back for sure. It's a hop and a skip away from my office. WIN-WIN for sure. Hit up Ted's if you're craving a good bison burger.

This is my absolute favorite place to go! For any reason! Great servers ... Alway very kind and energetic!! The half sour pickles are to die for! The are so fresh and crispy...the are probably half the reason I come. My husband gets the bison Delmonico ribeye with sweet potato and broccoli.. The steak is by far the best I've ever had, and he gets it every time so I guess he likes it ;) I either get the salmon or a burger... Both perfect but try your salmon first before putting ANYTHING on it... Don't put the lemon on or salt.. It's perfect just like it is! And you can't go wrong with any of the burgers! Don't forget to get onion rings! My favorite appetizer is the bison nachos and dessert is the apple crips but it's seasonal :) only sad thing I wish they still had would be the quotes on the walls.. Some from John Wayne and such...But I believe Teds in other states still have the quotes on the walls

Why you gotta hate Ted's so much? I look forward to eating here. It is not very often I crave a burger, but when I do... it's bison and no one knows their buffalo like Ted's. AND they will actually cook it medium rare. Not like pretend medium rare, but honest to goodness red in the middle. Plus they serve homemade pickles for free... and they will give you extras if you ask. Not like the Pearl where you have to buy them. Yeah, that's right Pearl, I'm calling you out. (Pearl, please don't be mad at me. I love your grilled cheese). The service here is quick and efficient and no one seems put out by the fact I have at least 3 modifiers on everything I order. And did I mention their squash casserole. It is fantastic! And only 90 calories. Wha wha? The only thing I don't like is the paper straws. I get it. I love the environment, but I would prefer if the straw didn't start to compost until I was done with it.

My wife and I dined here our first time on a Sunday night before a show at the LP. It was a bit early for dinner, around 5:00 pm, so there was no crowd. We were seated immediately and only had to wait a few minutes to place a drink order. Our server was very friendly without being annoying. He was able to clearly describe the different types of draft beer available and also made a recommendation on appetizers. We were *not* disappointed! The onion rings we ordered were probably the best onion rings we have ever encountered. The batter was not overwhelming, and the cuts of onion were substantial so that it was a well balanced taste that didn't disintegrate when you tired to eat it. I had the Bison burger and as many others have stated, it was delicious. My wife had the Veggie Burger and declared it to also be delicious. In summary, we had great service, delicious food, and a very enjoyable experience. Highly recommended.

I remember when Ted's first opened. I worked downtown and we would hoof it up to the Arena District for fabulous $8 bison burgers. A few years later, I found myself working in the Arena District. Indeed, I was a regular when the prices jumped to $10 for a bison burger. Today, I just paid $15 for the New Mexico bison burger. Ugh. The quality of food is still very good (although, if you've tracked their nutritional info over time, you will have noticed that portion sizes have also been cut). I've just reached my price sensitivity point with Ted's. $15 for a burger and $3 for iced tea, leaves me well over $20 for lunch when you toss in tax and tip. As long as Ted's remains packed for lunch, I suspect the prices will continue to rise. To me, the food is good, but not THAT good. There are plenty of other more economical and better tasting alternatives to be had in Columbus. At this price point, "meh, I've experienced better."

  • Carolyn K.

People rave about this place. So I had some lofty expectations. But my experience was pretty "meh." Perhaps the problem is that I didn't order anything with bison in it, but I was pressed for time. So I ordered a salad. The chopped salad. It was a whole lotta lettuce and maybe a child's fistful of veggies/salami. Pretty disappointing. But, the slice of cheesy garlic bread that it was served with was all kinds of delicious. Honestly, the best part of the meal was the complimentary bowl of garlic-soaked cucumbers that the waitress set at our table (kind of like Ted's version of the requisite bread basket). These were just a delight - fresh, crispy, garlic-y. AKA: party in my mouth. Service was good - staff was very attentive.

My friend and I stop by Ted's for a night cap after dinner and we were so disappointed. The bar was disgusting and the bartender was unfriendly and disorganized. I wish I could attach pictures to dissuade anyone from coming here to this location I don't think that she or I will ever come back to this location. Awful awful.

A foodie friend of mine who lives in Columbus says this is the only restaurant worth visiting in Columbus. I will take her word for it based on my experience. The specialty of the restaurant is bison - bison burgers, steaks, pot roast, meat loaf, etc. The food was excellent, portions were great, service was good, ambiance was typically steakhouse. All in all, i thought everything tasted great and the squash casserole and onion rings were excellent. The bison chili is also something worth writing home about. well done.

Awesome food (had the salmon on the chopped salad; cooked perfectly, rare even!!!), great patio and excellent service. I felt my order was high-maintenance but they did not skip a beat and prepared it perfectly!!! I had an issue with my credit card and the management and server were super helpful and polite. (Steve and Jane). Go here; you will not be disappointed!!!!

Bison is the best. More flavor and way more tender than beef. I would take a bison ribeye over a prime beef ribeye anytime. The bison burgers are also amazing with a large menu of styles and toppings. I just wish we had one here in New Orleans.

My co-worker and I were deciding on where to lunch today and we wanted to sit on a warm sunny patio (being it's so cold in our office bldg). Neither of us had been to Ted's in awhile (for me, since I stopped eating meat 5 yrs ago). I checked out the menu online and found they have a veggie burger. Score. We were seated on the patio and a very pleasant server tended to us right away. My friend ordered a chicken sandwich with fries and I had the veggie burger with fries. The burger came on the fresh oatie wheat bun and was very good. It is a little soft and part of it fell off my bun, but no worries. I had a fork. The fries were wonderful, especially dipped in the ranch dressing I requested. It was a good, filling lunch on a sunny patio with great service. We each thought we need to keep this in mind more often. We'll be back.

Darn good steak! I've been 3 times and they never disappointed me except I used to live about 20 miles from Teds ranch in Montana and the mountains there are better than downtown Columbus unless you count the fake old factory buildings that aren't old at all.

Downtown location does not accept reservations and at the moment has exactly two tables for the entire restaurant. If you're in a party of 6 or more, you should go some place else until renovations are over. I was more impressed by Ted's in Denver. I'm sad to see the excellent chips and guac have been removed from the appetizer menu. The bison nachos are OK at best, not garnished very well. The bison burgers are good, but in my opinion there are better burgers at much better prices in the area. The bison is a nice novelty but I feel that novelty is all that this place has to offer.

Really good burgers. We went on a Thurs night for a casual birthday dinner, and got some deliciuos bison burgers. Love that they have so many unique variations on the burger. I got the "Avalon", with bleu cheese, bacon, caramelized onions, roasted garlic ailoi, and baby arugula. Everything was so perfect, it was sweet and salty and melt-in-your-mouth buttery soft. The meat (bison) was perfectly cooked (medium) and wasn't that "gamey" tasting, if you know what I mean. They also have lots of good options for sides (vegetables like broccoli and asparagus for the diet-conscious), but I had a field day with the 1/2 onion rings and 1/2 fries option. There are lots of other cool burger concoctions I still want to try (avocado and fried egg!!). A cool, casual place for dinner and beer/wine. Bar was nothing special though, just standard beer and wines. Cool decor inside, like fancy cowboy style. I took one star off for service, which was okay, but after being seated, we waited for about ten minutes for a waiter to come over. And the place was half-empty. I just think they forgot about us, we were in the corner front booth. We had to go remind them, and it was kind of awkward.

What a let down! It looks so nice from the outside, inside I love the private booths, definetly great for a date but the food way overpriced, they aim to be upperclass but the food is on par with any chain restaurant just with higher prices. My husband has the bison nacos which didn't taste any better or different than regular beef just with a higher pricetag. Knowing that he got the kitchen sink burger with regular beef knowing there is no reason to spend extra money on bison. I had the red rock chicken and onion rings which was ok but really not the best and the chiabatta was soggy. My son had the mac n cheese and even though it was not out of a box, it was basically noodles and water, not cheesy no flavor. The onion rings are baked and not fried, I am usually all for being healthy but some things are fried for a reason. The service was good, the food just not worth the money.

Disclaimer - Ted's got a five star from me based mainly on my love for bison meat. With that being said Ted's is genuinely a great place to eat. It is close to Nationwide Arena and Huntington Park and great for dinner before a fun night downtown. As mentioned above if you are going to order a burger there, you HAVE to order bison. It is indescribably tasty. If I were ever to dine there with someone who ordered a burger and got cow beef I would look at them the same way I would look at someone who ordered a salad at a steakhouse. The one drawback - Ted's was named after its founder Ted Turner and serves you bison, inevitably leading you to think of this the entire time you are there: youtube.com/watch?v=hHZu…

I really like the ambiance... It's a nice place for a date or a small group gathering. The burgers are good. I tried the bacon cheeseburger and my partner had the bison Avalon. We both enjoyed the food, although the portion of fries that comes with the burger is very small! Also, the prices are very high (in my opinion!) The Avalon was $15.... that's just about as high as we're willing to go for an excellent burger...it was good...but it was not excellent. Also, as soon as we ordered, the waiter brought out our check. I am not sure how other people feel about that, but I thought it was rude. I used to be a server, and I know that it's important to move your tables along (especially on the weekends) but my first question was "What if I don't get/like my food?" I was not going to pay before I got it so bringing out the check did not move me along... It just made me feel like the waiter could not wait to get us out. Then, he came back out when we started eating to ask if we were ready to pay... Overall, it was one of those experience where if someone recommended to go there, I would not say no way, but I would not be dying to go there either.

I've seen this place go from 5-stars at opening to the three I'm giving it today. I remember visiting at a time when it wasn't a chain. I agree with all, the burgers are overpriced, overhyped and served with an attitude. How can this original have such a fall from grace? They've tweaked the menu so much that they've ticked off their most loyal customers. I've had it with Ted's, but what else is in the neighborhood and not inundated with fans before the game?

Ted's Montana was really good and I wish we had something like this up in Detroit. I haven't been to Columbus since I was a kid but we happened to be there and stopped in the arena district. The husband and I are both carnivores so this is right up our alley. The interior of this place is like an upgraded roadhouse. Dark wood, modern fixtures, and leather booths. I felt instantly warm and cozy when I walked in. Our server was at our table within seconds and she was very friendly and gave us great recommendations. A couple of minutes later, our drinks arrived. Nice job sister! Hubs ordered the bison burger and I ordered the bison pot roast. Never having bison before, I was a little nervous, but our server assured us it was a great tasting meat. She was right! Yum! My pot roast looked like pulled pork and it came with brown gravy, garlic mashed, and green beans. The bison was much more sweet than beef or pork and much leaner. It has a sweeter taste and was perfectly tender. Hubs said his burger was fantastic too. One star away because I was given stink eye by another server as I walked to the restroom. I have no idea why that happened, but it doesn't make a customer feel too good. Seriously consider this place whenever you are in the arena district. It's so much more unique than a random pizza or burger joint.

Nice house made pickle chips to start. The decor was nice with a old west out on the range feel to it. Ordered the red rock bison burger. Very moist and cooked to order. The raspberry like Z sauce complimented the burger well. Substituted the fries for a sweet potato also very well prepared. Service was above average but not overly friendly. Waitress seemed like she'd rather be somewhere else. I'd come back here again when I'm back in columbus.

Been there a couple times now, and the chili is some of the best Ive eve had. Their bison burger is so good, its rates with one of the best possible burgers in Columbus. The decor is outstanding...tons of wood, tall tin ceilings...really cool. Prices are a little high, and this is another Arena District restaurant, so parking can be an issue. Also, make a note...if it is a Clipper home game, change your plans, other than that, a real good place. We shall return. 5 stars for the burger itself.

My dad and I burger are freaks and were very excited to go there when I moved to Cbus. The place is super cool and manly inside. We both ordered the larger bison burger and to our surprise they both were way under cooked. I ordered mine medium and it was beyond rare. It still was very good and I should have sent it back but our waitress was a giant bitch and never came back after she dropped the food off. Manager didn't really seem care when we told him and offered nothing off our bill. If I am spending $15 for a burger I assume the service will and should be spot on.. Save your money and go to Ringside Cafe for a better burger and way better price..

Number of visits: 10+ Most recent visit: 6/2013 I'm a big fan of Ted's. It's a chain place that you find in cities, owned by Ted Turner that tries to be Earth friendly. Anyway, what this place is all about is the bison. I absolutely love bison. It taste kind of like a leaner version of beef, definitely my favorite red meat if not just my outright favorite meat. Every time I go here I get a bison burger, which there are plenty of to choose from on the menu, topped with lots of different things. I usually go for one with bleu cheese. The burgers are a bit pricey, about $14-15 dollars, but they're worth it. They're great. The bison is the most important thing here, but I'm also a big fan of Ted's sides. You can stick with fries if you want, but they also offer tasty options like creamed spinach, asparagus, various potato stuff, squash casserole, and I've never had one I didn't like. I've never ordered it, but others I've been with have gotten the Sunday special turkey dinner, and that was also good. There lemonade is fresh squeezed and delicious. The gist is I've never had anything I didn't enjoy here. My review is realistically higher than 4 stars, the reason I went with 4 though is I have a very difficult time bringing myself to give 5 to something that is a chain and not just local. I'm a local nut.

Great service. Great buffalo burgers. I would recommend the peppercorn burger. Enjoyed the onion rings as well. Don't go there often because it is a little pricey, but it's worth the occasional trip.

Believe it or not, this place has a kick butt veggie burger. I mean large and really good, good enough to compete with the carnivorous version. And it can be dressed to match any of the other available burgers. I prefer the grilled onions with cheddar and BBQ. From avocado to plain old plain, there's something to top it with. I also enjoy the baked sweet potato with cinnamon and butter. The pickles you get to tide you over while perusing the menu are consistently excellent, yummy and crisp. The carnivore compatriot very much enjoys the bison burgers. Go during the holidays to take advantage of the $20 free when you buy $100 in gift cards. If you ever go to a hockey or baseball game and swing by here maybe twice, it's worth it.

Whenever I'm in C-bus, I gotta try to go to Ted's when I'm in town. Their bison burgers are the best! Unfortunately, they're quite pricey but it's a nice treat once in a while. Everytime I've been here the food quality has been very good. Service can be on the slow side. Sometimes I wonder if they are killing the buffalo for my burger when I order it.

I was impressed, and will be back. Highlights: -Comfy "private" booths that have high walls and rich wood trim. -Friendly staff. -Great location (if you're in the arena district or staying at an area hotel). -the best onion rings I've ever had. -Great alternative burgers (read: Bison) -not horrendous pricing ($20 a person for a cocktail, burger w/side of onion rings, easily would pay $30 for the same in major cities, or $35 at a similar place I ate at in park city). -well cooked burger (medium was indeed medium) -large patio (will sit here next time) lowlights: -the low lights, it definitely was "sunset dark" inside, so I'm marking that nice bright photo as "unhelpful" -loud carryover music outside from mystery location in the arena district, just was annoying so we decided to sit inside. Seeing as though you can get a plain bison burger and water for $10, I wouldn't call this terribly expensive. It's quality meat, so it's well worth the extra price for me. This is my new favorite burger place in town, goodbye three hour line at thurmans....

If you never had bison burger I suggest you start with this place. It's up charged from the regular beef burger so it runs about $15. The pot roast is really very good, filling, and flavorful. Prime location obviously. Nice for lunch locales and arena workers.

Another slam dunk My date wanted a burger and we were downtown so stopped in to Ted's since I remembered their burgers rock. It was not busy in there at all and the staff was very gracious. I had the Cadillac burger (beef) medium well with fries. Everything was cooked to perfection. Such a wonderful meal, inexpensive considering how great the burger was. My meal was $13, I could spend that much at 5 guys. I will be back

We came here for the burgers since we heard so much about it while we were in columbus. I've got to say this place has has the best bison burger I've ever tasted! You can just taste the freshness of the bison and the bun was so light and fluffy. We were with teenagers and we all had different burgers and they were all a hit. If you go to this place, have a burger and you won't be disappointed.

According to the manager, if you use call ahead seating your name gets moved to the top of the list, so take advantage of that. If you go there and there is a wait, no worries, just call from your cell phone and your name is at the top! We were a party of 6 that showed up at 530, we called the day before and they said no reservations but had call ahead seating. We called at 5pm, the hostess said there was no wait so she wouldn't take our name for call ahead seating. We showed up at 530, got drinks at the bar and waited for a table, were told 20 minute wait. We waited an hour and a half, we told the hostess the 6 of us would squeeze into a 4 person both but to no avail. Many groups were seated before us, even a 5 top that showed up an hour after us because they allegedly used call ahead seating and their name was at the top of the list. I spoke to the manager about this and he said he didn't know what was going on up front, he had been in the back all night... Great manager. Long story short, waited an hour and a half for a table while groups of similar size were seated before us. Manager didn't care, didn't even seem to know what was going on in his restaurant. Wish I could tell you about the food but we left before getting a table. Bartenders were nice, drinks were good at least.

Given we were the only group in the restaurant tonight and prices are very high I expected great things...I was disappointed. Entrees were smaller than expected and cold. Onion rings were chewy and nachos tasteless. Server dumped a drink in one of our parties lap and took ages to come back with napkins, then forgot to bring him a new drink. My $33 bison filet was nothing special, sides were basic, baked potato lame. All round an expensive meal with mediocre service and no better food than a chain.

Went here last night and I will just say that the Bison burgers are simply amazing. Tender & Juicy can't even describe the explosion I had in my mouth when I took a bite. I had the New Mexico which was a bit spicy, but not too spicy. It's always happy hour....who doesn't like that? I'll be back very very soon.

We ate here last Sunday before catching Disney on Ice with our daughter. The food was great, the service was great, and the atmosphere was very cozy! My daughter loved sitting in the booths against the wall, and they are nice. They make your meal very private. The service was very attentive, and food came out hot and delicious! I have to admit that this is one of the few places where if I order a burger it actually arrives cooked the way that I like it. That is not something I find typical at most places, and for that I love Ted's! i also love the fact that you can get bison burgers and their hot and green burger is delish! We will certainly be back!

Ted's is a good place to grab a tasty burger and some sides. It is one of only a few places around town where you can actually get something other than beef which is their biggest draw. I've had a few different burgers on the menu and have always had a pleasant experience. I do find that Ted's is a little pricey as 2 people can easily spend over $60 for a couple burgers and beers. Certainly a restaurant to recommend and enjoy, just wish it was a little easier on the wallet.

  • Angela H.

I love Ted's. All of their burgers are really good quality. The bison burgers are a little more expensive but are worth trying. They're leaner but are still flavorful. The decor of this place is awesome. Dark lighting, wooden booths and tables, white paper on the tables, Buffalo heads hanging on the walls. And the service is always great. Go here if you get a chance!

Bison burger. I'm a full grown adult American male. I ate my first hamburger last year. I may not be the most qualified person in the world to judge what makes a good burger. Ted's bison burger is freaking awesome. Lots of fun topping combinations, I haven't found one I don't like. Order the onion rings instead of fries. One night we grabbed bison burgers at work. After I finished eating I was up running around doing tons of work that nobody had asked me to do. A feeling of red meat euphoria washed over me and I felt as if the universe and my place in it were both perfect. "I'VE GOT THE POWER OF THE BUFFALO INSIDE OF ME!" I explained to my coworkers. The ground shakes. Hear thundering hooves of flavor? Your taste buds are about to be trampled. Bison burger.

Location is nice but the food is fantastic. I tried the Chilli and the Bison filet. Definitvely worth to try. Delicious. Portion-Size not extremly big but perfect to me. Filet was grilled to perfection, as I like it. Jason (server) did a great job, so I can recommend the venue if you are looking for a good choice of dishes, hand-cut filet and good side dishes with herbs and spices.

A group coworkers and I attended Ted's Montana Grill while we were in Columbus for work last night. I know it is regional chain (I believe) and that worried me, but once I was inside I realized that it was a pretty good steakhouse. The wait staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, the beer was cold, and the food was good! My coworkers had the Delmonico Ribeye (bison) and I had the Kansas City Strip (bison). I was extremely impressed with how well all of our steaks were cooked and how well they tasted. I probably would not have been able to tell you it was bison if I had not seen the menu, but it did have a slightly different texture, but the seasonings were robust and very good and had a nice, bold somewhat spicy taste. For appetizers we had the bison nachos and grilled shrimp. They were good, but I felt for the prices that they were a little basic on the nachos and the shrimp (I expected the shrimp to low in number. But, the nachos did not have much meat, sour cream or jalapenos. Now the the nachos that did were fantastic, I just felt there were too many bare nacho chips on the plate. Overall, the experience was very good and I would eat at Ted's Montana Grill again! *One thing I really liked was that several different servers and employees checked on us multiple times throughout the meal and made sure we always had full drinks and plate were cleared off of the table. 5 stars to them!*

I don't know how people are raving about this place, although it does have its few high points. Went there a few nights ago with some friends. First of all, the place is overpriced. I don't mind paying good money for a good burger, but their $12+ burgers aren't worth it- at all. I'll pay $20 for a good burger, but these are more like $8 burgers. It centers around the fact that this place, like damn near everywhere in Columbus, doesn't know the meaning of 'rare'. I ask the server how rare they will do their burgers and he says they can even just sear it so that its still cold in the middle. So I tell him I'll have it rare, and possibly even a little rarer than that. What I end up getting is firmly medium. How a place that has burgers at this price does that is beyond me. Its acceptable for an $8 burger, but for ones at this price? Nope. Service was ok, although he didn't bring silverware until we were already served.

I love their pickles. I love the fact that they still resemble/taste like cucumbers. I've been here twice; the first time I got the bison chili burger and it was good. The second time I ordered a cheeseburger (bison patty, cheddar cheese). It was simple and delicious. I order my burgers cooked medium and I thought it was a good 'medium' cooked burger. The fries are also good; very potato-y. Everyone at the table seemed pretty happy with their meals.

How do you get a vegetarian to eat meat? Make them eat bison! Yes, bison is the meat to get here at Ted's. I'm really trying my darndest to be 100% vegetarian, but I had to give in to the bison. I had an awesome bison burger, and what made it extra special was how they toasted the bun. Delish! If it is game night at the Nationwide Arena across the street, expect to wait 45 min to an hour before you get seated.

I love Ted's. The prices are too high now though for lunch, end of story. Would make a nice occasional lunch outing. The bison burgers are really good but, as other reviewers have noted, the cost just seems to be too much. Service is typically somewhere between average to good, albeit slow.

Let see... I go to Ted's at least once a week for Lunch. What more can I say, I'm a fan. The Staff is always friendly, the management is helpful, the atmosphere is comfortable. The food is good, well priced and (above all) consistent.

Holy cow this place was amazing! We went here on a whim because we wanted to grab a bite to eat before the movie. Not only was the menu pretty diverse for a bison specialty house, but the non bison dishes we got were incredible. Service was okay. I have to give them props for getting us in and out in 45 minutes so we could make our movie. Staff was polite, just flaky. Ambiance is upper crust. It reminds me of a rich person's Den. There is a Bison head on the wall which completes the picture. Price is absolutely fair for the quality of the food we ordered.

Yum! Bison burger (peppercorn) cooked perfectly - medium. Chips were great, as was the grilled broccoli. A bit pricey though -- $20/person.

I love this place had bison burgers awhile back and have been waiting for a place around Columbus to serve them. Then I stumbled across teds and haven't looked back lol. I ate here a few times and my favorite thing to order is the kitchen sink burger with bison meat (they give you a choice between bison, veggie, or regular beef). I get the bison for the reasons that it is tastier then beef, plus had more nutrients. When the burger came out it was huge, I'm a big eater and I had trouble finishing this behemoth. Each time I had went I have been waited on quickly, and with a friendly and polite staff, sometimes they are a little snooty but it's arena district doesn't surprise me. It is not cheap, but you get your moneys worth.

Our group was looking for a casual dinner after a 6 hour drive from Chicagoland. Ted's fit the bill. Appetizers, and sandwiches were tasty, and our server was quick. We had a larger group, and were seated in a semi-private room in the back. Good call on their part, because we tend to get a little loud. I would recommend to anyone in the area.

After landing in Columbus and checking into my hotel I decided to do what I always do in a new city... Stuff my face at a local eatery. So we drive down through the arena district right past Ted's Montana Grill. Intrigued by the bison burger sign, we decide to partake. My first experience with bison meat went smashingly! It was so flavorful and not at all dry like some bison-burger horror stories that I've heard. Ted's has a decent selection of specialty burgers on the menu, all of which can be ordered with bison instead of beef. I opted for the fairly boring Monterey Jack cheese burger so that I could get the full bison effect without it getting masked by bacon or bbq sauce... The beer selection can use some work, but they do make a mean margarita! Turns out that "Ted" is THE Ted, Ted Turner. And while he "probably" didn't off the bison himself, chances are they're from land he owns... Just kiddin' Ted! Bottom Line: Great food at Ted's and they're 99% plastic free(paper straws anyone?)! So I have less guilt about destroying the planet to go with my increased White Guilt for killing the buffalo...

Visited Ted's before heading to Nationwide for a concert. In that respect, a very convenient location. However, there is no waiting area so be ready to be cramped. Seating is quaint and intimate. Food was good. Not great and probably not worth the price but it is what one would expect for its location. Not good for kids unless you go on off hours.

I'm a burger freak. It's sort of cliche now, but it's the first thing I look for when dining at an (obviously) meat-centric restaurant. I have also been searching for a truly great burger, sans Thurman's, for quite some time. Fellow burger fanatics might consider the following heresy... Ted's makes a really, really, good bison burger. You order it rare to med-rare if you want, and what you think might be a dry, lean patty of buffalo 'health' burger, is actually a thick, juicy, red disc of meat that just totally nails that primal need for red meat. Yeah, it's expensive for a burger, but that burger really is worth it. I really wish they had better and more beers on tap. The only downer was a pretty limited selection of suds to pair with my delicious meat. CBC Pale fit the bill, but it wasn't really a decision so much as 'Yep, that's clearly the only decent beer'. Reading the other reviews, it seems like I got lucky with my rare order, so maybe you should emphasize.

So I probably should have gotten what Ted's is known for - It's Bison Burger. But instead I got a the crab cake. I wasn't that hungry and thought that this would be a better choice. But I think I would have been better served if I'd gotten the Bison and just ate part of it if I really wasn't that hungry. The crab cake was dry and needed some more flavour. I haven't given up on this place though. Its in a good location, especially if you're down at Nationwide Arena and the decor is nice - Western and not too gaudy. And I've heard really good things about the Bison, which I will definitely try the next time!

I was there the other night for the first time in years, and the bison burger was great. It is a bit overpriced and the service needs to be a bit better (they did just clear out a huge pre-concert crowd, though). I would eat here again.

Ted Turner may be a maverick in the business world, but he's down to earth when it comes to grillin' up bison at his restaurants. I had the Bison Delmonico Steak with melted blue cheese, homemade THICK batter dipped onion rings and the creamed spinach. It was all wonderful and the service was excellent! See for yourself - static.px.yelp.com/photo…

I ate at the Ted's on Sawmill. Ted's is nice - very interesting decor, super clean, excellent service - and the food is good, but I think it's pretty overpriced. Soda is priced by the glass, and, quite honestly, there are plenty of better burger joints that offer free refills.

In the interest of full disclosure you should know that I worked at this place for over a year (though I didn't exactly leave happy). Be that as it may, I am in a unique position to review the place. Ted's is a corporate restaurant owned by Ted Turner (side note: If you are a marketer and called to talk to Ted, the owner of the Braves, TNT, TBS and former owner or CNN, you should know I left you on hold on purpose). Ted's has some good things going for it. For one, they really do emphasize recyclable materials like togo boxes, bags, straws, etc. (Though they are lying if they tell you your beer bottle will get recycled.) They also make things in much smaller batches and at more regular intervals than do many, if not most, restaurants. And the staff, not all are perfect but most are very intelligent, friendly, and kind people (she-who-shall-not-be-named notwithstanding). If you are going to talk into a place with a neon sign in the shape of a bison, you should probably try the local fare. The Bison Burgers at Ted's are the best I have had, hands down. Thurman's may lay claim to burger King of Columbus (pun intended), but only at Ted's can I get a large, moderately healthy burger cooked RARE! Yeah, that's how I like 'em. Ted's grinds the meat in house daily (I watched them do it) which means that e coli concerns are almost non-existent. I feel much more in touch with my caveman roots when I am chowing down on my barely cooked hunk of genuine American Buffalo. The fact that I ate roughly 250 of these in the year plus I worked there is a testament to the their quality. The inside scoop: 1) DO NOT order a Mountain Breeze on a busy night and expect to get it quickly (and if you do tip extra because they take forever to make). 2) DO order the Margaritas! Legitimate fresh, hand squeezed sour mix makes the best margarita in the city. See also: whiskey sours, amaretto sours, long islands. 3) DO NOT ask your server what a Bison is. (My 2 favorite: "Is that some kinda meat?" and "I don't want to eat that, it looks like a big buffalo!") 4) DO NOT be afraid to send something back. As with most corporate restaurants, they are happy to bend over backwards to make you happy. . 5) DO try the Burgers with interesting ingredients like the Montana (BBQ, Ham, Cheddar, gr. onions) and the New Mexico (Guacamole, Anaheim Chili Pepper, Monterey Jack Cheese) 6) DO tip well. Very few people graduate from college dreaming of serving at a restaurant. Give these people a break and tip accordingly.

The food comes out fast too....I live in Seattle and I hope Ted can bring the Buffalo back to the Northwest....well maybe not the Buffalo, just: Ted's Montana Grill...Come on Ted.... you are the largest land owner in the US (after the US goverment) you can swing one of these great restaurant's in the Seattle area.......I'm waiting....

Ok. So after two bad experiences down the street I decide to take a walk to Teds.. After reviewing yelp of course... Anyway I walked right in at 6:00 on a non game day week night and sat at the bar. The bartender was available right away and very helpful recommended the red something burger.. I really dont pay attention I just wanted the Bison burger. I ordered it medium rare and it arrived perfectly cooked.. Yum.. So often Bison is overcooked and or dry and this was not - absolutely recommended at least at medium rare.. Bartender was attentive and checked in regularly - so much better than the Max and Erma's I had earlier in the week.. Pricing was very reasonable burger and three beer - $30 bucks you cant beat that.. Next time I'm in Columbus I am visiting Teds.. The only thing I didn't really groove to was the kitchen.. you can see it from the bar with the staff standing around (since it wasnt busy) and you know - I don't really want to watch my food being cooked unless I'm in a diner in Arizona somewhere or at In-N-Out Burger at home...

I love the bison burgers and also have enjoyed the BBQ chicken salad. They have a great variety of side dishes for your burger, inlcluding my favorite - parmesan creamed spinach. I wish that they would enlarge their space since it is very hard to get a table for luch after 11:30 or so.

Ted's is pricier than what i can afford most of the time. I had a bison burger with guacamole and it was tittyballs (read:savory). The atmosphere is earthy and full of wood. Drink prices are punishing, from what i can recall. Ted's was a nice place to try once, but it's the kind of concept restaurant whose appeal is nullified for me by its corporate concept nature.

  • Samantha H.

Ted's is a really cool place, especially if you're in for trying something new, ie bison! The food is a little overpriced. Make a note not to get the crab cake. Yes, this appetizer seems like a good deal when it's about $10, but in actually, it is literally A crab cake. One crab cake is not worth this much, and I've definitely had better (and bigger) and more economical crab cakes. If you're planning on dining with a group larger that 4, I would recommend calling ahead, as the Arena District location doesn't have very much seating for the larger group varieties. Other than that, the atmosphere is great, and the restaurant is environmentally friendly!

While it is true that I did NOT contract a food borne illness here,, that was the only highlight. The first time I dined here (OK it was actually the other location--somewhere north in the 'burbs) I ordered the mashed potatoes--- which were stringy....I asked the server about them and he said..."Yeah thats just the variety they are.".... a while later the manager came over to apologize...and told me that they must have mixed in some BURLAP from the bag the potatoes came in...... THANKS FELLAS!!.....Maybe I could get some CAT FOOD for Dessert??? At least he comped my my meal...... Then I went to the Arena location..to give them one more chance.....I got a buffalo burger...which tasted weird but was generally OK....with a side of green beans..... Now I know green beans.... I order them everywhere...and some are better than others, but I am no gastronome....TJ's country place makes fine green beans as far as I am concerned.... Teds where the WORST I have ever eaten... even now...2 years later I still shudder to thing of how awfull they were... How do you screw up green beans? Its like not being able to boil water...

OK, in the interest of full disclosure, I am not a big red meat eater, and I usually eat chicken at home, so when I go out, especially for a special occasion, I prefer to order seafood. That said, most steak places have slowly come to the realization that there are enough of us out there that they need to have at least a decent offering of seafood. But not Ted's. If you don't want meat or chicken, you're pretty much SOL, with your only options being doughy crab cakes, the obligatory farm-raised salmon, and salad with a skewer of shrimp on it. Even though I firmly believe salad makes a wonderful side dish, but not a main meal, I nevertheless took option #3. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything special, either. There was also no bread before dinner. But, the kicker was about 1/2 of the way through the meal, when the fire alarm went off, and we had to leave our meal -- 1/2 eaten -- and head out the door, where we proceeded to wait for about 15 minutes before given the all-clear. I think it was God telling us to leave this temple of mediocrity; nevertheless, we proceeded back inside. And, to top everything off, our server was more concerned about arguing with my 78 year-old conservative father about how wonderful Ted Turner is than in providing decent service. So, in summary, I suppose if you are looking for a steak with a baked potato with a Budweiser to chase it down, it might be your place; otherwise, skip this disappointment.

When Ted's first opened in Columbus we couldn't get enough. Recently we've left dissatisfied, which is sad to say after you've just eaten George's Cadillac Burger (Bison, BBQ sauce, & Bacon). Ted's stopped serving pickles, has gotten pretty lax in cleaning the place, and the servers seem unhappy. The chili use to be my favorite, but was missing the umph it once had. If you want a bison burger you should try it. But Ted's isn't a Columbus dining experience not to be missed.
