Great atmosphere from outside dining to full bar to inside tables. Open and airy on a nice day. Wife loves the balogna sandwich. Stay awau from the mini tacos, frozen n fried. Service was good but might be worried if it busier. Definately the German Village essance.

Lived in Cbus for 14 years now and have searched and sampled the local za during that time. For years I swore on Gahanna/Beckey Pizza Plus as being the best but everytime I hit up Planks on High I change my mind. Great sauce, great tasting thin crust (yes it has taste), tons of toppings. This is the best tasting pizza I've had here. There is another Planks on Parsons but just know, their sauce is very sweet and is completely different from High st. This is a true pizza with excellent flavor, no sugar, just crust, sauce and lots of toppings. If you are on the fence on a good pizza look no further.

I love this place. I suggest getting the bratwurst with potato salad, and the pizza. I studied overseas in Austria and Germany. (Bavaria) The brats are the closest I have ever come to tasting like what I had in Bavaria. The pizza is a (Bavarian festival) personal size thin crust. The Dagwood sandwich is also one of my favorites. I do agree it has poor service, cold, and it tends to smell but I only visit in the middle of the summer and I sit outside :)

Okay, I kind of agree with the stale beer smell, but it's a BAR, so after a drink or two, I don't even notice it. Came here for the after-party of my sister's reception. It was really hot, so we stayed inside mostly, but I bet the outside would be awesome with good weather. There's a decent selection of beers, good prices and I didn't try the pizza, but I saw it, and it looked/smelled amazing. I love the lack of pretentious people and how relaxed the vibe was. I'll be back soon!

I stayed nearby and only just went in for one, quick drink in advance of catching the bus on my way up to OSU. Very depressing looking place with an even more depressing clientele. Staff very perfunctory- the main action seems to be outside.

Meh. We went to this bier garten hoping either for German beers (of which there were 2 on tap) or excellent local beers (of which there was one). The selection was disappointing, the food was limited in offering (and they were out of most of the things that we were interested in eating) and our service was slooooooooow. I never mind slow service when it is busy (I've been a server), but our server would disappear for 45 minutes at a time and was distinctly uninviting when she did return. Also, I am guessing that there were maybe six tables full and two servers working. We left for a better bar with better service across the street and had a much better time.

I'm inclined to agree with whoever said that Plank's smells like a urinal cake, although I also kind of thought it smelled like a fish market. I guess my fried mushrooms were okay.

Interesting and full of potential when we first walked in - but things went down hill quickly. A semi-interested waitress, unavailability of ordered menu items, a 30 minute wait for sandwiches and french fries that were not just cold but icy. The french fries were an interesting dark brown and when a member of the party asked if the color signified a seasoning, we were told that they fries are dark brown because they only change the frying grease on a weekly basis but as she assured us, a trip back the next day would result in crisp golden fries. We appreciated her honesty but not enough to ever return or recommend this place to any one. Took quite a while to get the check as she never returned to see if we needed anything (not likely). I imagine it would be a nice spot to sip a brew on a summer night outside - other than that, you've been warned.

Boy, some people really hate this place. Not me. It is what it is, not what others may wish it to be. Hangers-on at the bar usually ogling the one or two hotties dressed up (or down, depending on your tastes). You wonder what they are trolling for in HERE. Mostly just nice other clients having a cheap good time. Food is all bar food and not of great quality. Staff is nice but settled in. I actually like that. Not turning tables for tips. We don't go here that often but sometimes it just fits. Neighborhood bar, nothing else, but just what you need if that is what you want.

Went here while touring around Columbus over the 4th of July weekend... Slightly dark and out-dated inside, (but not in a bad way, more like a 'you're in a local hole in the wall' kind of way). Got the Reuben with coleslaw instead of sauerkraut and it was one of the best sandwiches I've had in a long time. Bread makes or breaks and sandwich for me and theirs was great. Fries were good, too. It was a little too hot to eat outside, but the beirgarten looked nice as well. Also, we ate at the bar and the bartender (don't remember her name) was terrific.

I live in the neighborhood. I stopped going here because of the consistently bad service. The pizza is good, patio is big but if you are looking for an all around place to dine and be treated like you are a guest drive to Grove City or across the neighborhood to the other Planks locations. The pizza do vary place to place but all are good. The Planks on Parson's does not have an outside but it still my favorite Planks location.

Have you ever wondered what the set of Cheers is like? Go to Plank's. I ate a late lunch here and the food was good. The atmosphere was great if you are in to nostalgia and appreciate sports in Columbus, aka OSU football. The wait staff was so-so. Since I had a burger earlier in the week, I went with a chicken cordon bleu sandwich and a side of cole slaw. Pizzas or burgers seem to be this place's signature dish as well as beers. Due to the time of the year of this visit coinciding with the Arnold Classic, "I'll be back!"

A local watering hole that is a local family owned business for many years. Quite the place for locals to go. It has a good sized bier garten to hang out in. Rustic bar interior. Menu has lots of great sandwiches and some salads. Known probably more for their pizzas. Wait staff have been helpful and friendly. Reasonably priced. Parking can be an issue when they are busy. There is maybe space for about a dozen vehicles or so in their parking lot - not a very big lot. So, if they are busy, you may have to drive around to find a place.

My first glimpse at their pizza, and I was turned OFF. The cheese was "translucent, and as it sat out, continued to thoroughly disgust me. They did have a decent patio with several picnic tables - this was a plus. Besides that, no reason to put this restaurant and beer garden at the top of my "Return" list.

Pretty good, went for the first time last night with a girlfriend and we had a good experience! Also did a massive pizza order from them a couple weeks back and had a good experience, they gave us lots of plates and napkins which was going above and beyond. Had a burger last night and it was passable, fries were ok, reminded me of steak escapes fries. But their Tiny Tacos were KILLER! Itsy bitsy tacos served with nacho cheese and sour cream, they were great, would have only been inproved with some tomatoes and lettuce on the side. You can make a meal out of a basket of these little guys but they were super fun for an appitizer! I really want to go back and try the potato salad and a few other things on the menu! They have a outdoor seating area so im sure its wonderful in the summer to!

Having lived in Columbus for so long, somehow my first Planks experience happened just this summer. The side room has those cool window / wall things that they open on nice days giving the dining area that awesome open air feel. The pizza is ON-POINT, too. Nothing crazy about any of the toppings and nothing exotic at all. Just the perfect balance of flavors and perfect crust. Thin and crisp but still with enough substance to support a proper pizza. For some odd reason they only offer two sizes for the pizzas, and unless you are dining solo I see no reason to get the little guy. In our party of two guys and two girls we crushed a large and small before ordering another small. Also the first place I tasted Beach Bum beer, but the keg blew and that was the end of it so my 1/3 of a glass was a bit of a tease.

Bier Garten not so much, but the patio is decent. It seems like a decent neighborhood bar and does well with the softball crowd, but not enough for me to seek it out or stop in at night. A little dirty, but in a way a dive bar should. Food and beer options are surprisingly limited and below average on the whole. Service isn't bad, but it's nothing special. A decent place to grab a drink on a patio when the weather is sunny.

Don't let the German name of this S. High St. bar and grill fool you- the food and drink here is as American as it gets. Between the patio and the pizza specials on Tuesdays, you've got yourself one hell of a quality joint to relax with a pitcher and group of friends at any time of day. It's comforting to know that a place that's yet to be gutted and reconfigured my yuppies still exists in an otherwise overly gentrified part of town such as German Village. The interior has a rustic and woody feel to it that without a doubt has been in tact since Plank's opened for business before the turn of the century, and it's safe to assume that little about the business has changed since then. The pizza isn't the greatest as far as texture goes, but there's plenty of toppings and surface area to make everyone happy enough to look beyond its relatively modest shortcomings. Besides the mysteriously rank smell that sometimes makes its way to the front of the restaurant, there's not much else I can say about Plank's that would be classified as negative. Definitely the place to go in German Village if you're tired of dealing with its uppity locals.

Decent bar year round, but an awesome bar in the summer time. As with the other folks on here I'm no stranger to the stale beer smell of planks (making sure to qualify this as dive). The building feels so old, like it could fall in at any moment. You think that would be a bad thing, but just sort of part of its charm. The pizza here is decent bar pizza, good sauce and the pep is huge; nothing great but after a pitcher of beer its amazing. The rest of the menu is pretty hit or miss, chicken fingers are fried to the extreme and I've also had a friend find a rancid tomato in his fried bologna sandwich. Don't come here expecting anything more than average bar food. The reason I say the summer here is great is due to the beer garden and softball. This is one of the softball bars near berliner field. Nothing quite like playing some softball with friends and then having a few beers outside with your opponents. So you'd think with the bad food, stale beer smell that this would be a terrible place, but there is just some charm about it. Everyone here is generally having a good laid back time. Good option for some low key drinking in German Village.

I couldn't get over the fact that the inside of Plank's smells like a urinal cake - totally unappetizing. I went to Plank's for a family reunion of sorts. It was nice of them to let us rent out their large, front room. It is wood paneled with two tiers of seating at both benches and tables. The walls are lined with sports paraphernalia, including an entire back wall filled with college flags. I think our waitresses were uber nervous about having to serve 100 people at once. When we arrived (a little earlier than the rest of our clan) they were frantic about getting our drink orders, asking us what we wanted while we were standing, mingling, and saying hello - even repeatedly asking us what we wanted though we had told them we were going to wait to get drinks until we were seated. Eventually, they pressured us into ordering our beers - before we found our seats. From that point, they did a decent job of getting orders. All 100 of us got pizza to make things easier. My beer was warm by the time we got our pies. I had high hopes about the pizza because I heard it was delicious. But my pizza wasn't very memorable. I think it was just cheese. I didn't eat much because I kept thinking about tiny pink cakes covered in piddle. When I did make my way back to the bathroom, I was surprised to find that it was the least bathroom-y smelling part of the whole restaurant. Weird. Maybe there's a vent that runs straight from the men's room into the dining area? I don't know how to explain it.

Nice place, good pizza (we had the veggie), good selection of beer. Friendly staff. Lots of TVs. Lots of nice outdoor options (but it was raining off and on, so we stayed inside).

Full disclosure: I've only gone here for Sunday day drinking on the back patio. For that, this place is great. The food is pretty good, the beer is cheap, the servers are friendly the atmosphere is exactly what I'm looking for. I know that, pretty soon, this place becomes a little bit too, for lack of a better term, "adult softball". So far, though, I have been more than happy to plant here on a picnic table for a few hours and drink beer with my friends on a relatively isolated patio (unlike the other bars in the area who have a patio facing the street). I'm quite certain I will be back this weekend. The only downside I can find for this purpose is that it's pretty empty, usually. I'm not going to meet new people here. But, when I'm here, I'm not up and moving around trying to mingle--I'm relaxing with a little hair of the dog that bit me the night before.

This place is not worth the stop. Nice enough people but for a German place in a so called German Village. They have one German food item and its marginal at best, and only German beer (One!) And its the pass water of Germany and they were out of it! WTH? Sorry I even got out of the car.

    (1)
  • mateo s.

The most German thing about this place is the signage out front. The whole menu is Mexican. WTF? The ONLY German item on the menu is a brat. They DON'T EVEN HAVE ANY GERMAN BEERS!! It's call "Plank's BEIR GARTEN" for cryin' out loud! I had a guinness, just cuz it was European and close to Germany. For my first bar in German town, I was very disappointed. I don't care if the place is old, or smells (Well, I guess i DO care if it smells.) Just don't try to be something you're not. And this is NOT a German Bar.

This is my favorite summer time hangout for beer and baseball. The patio is great if you are with a big group since it doesn't really fill up and they have large benches. The inside of the restaurant features large screen TVs and large tables that you can push together so it also works for groups of six or less. Dreaming of summer I recently hit up planks for lunch and although my half and half was served up quickly my grilled cheese and fries and friend's sandwich took forever! Equally disappointing were the fries the majority were almost completely black. I made a joke about not ordering the spuds blackened and my waitress said 'that's how we make them.' Stick with the pizza, go in summer, and go to drink with friends. Otherwise skip it.

It's called "Plank's Bier Garten" because it's in German Village (not "German town", like the guy below said). It's not a particularly German place, it's a local watering hole with a few German selections on the menu. I've been a fan of this place for years. It's comfortable and casual, and the pizza is great. It has giant pepperonis and tons of cheese. The patio is a great place in warm weather, and the indoor patio (think industrial-type solarium) is actually warm and pleasant in the winter. You can have parties in this room, which my family has done several times, and the service is always great. Don't come in with expectations of fancy beers or foodie dishes. It's a local divey bar with loyal clientele. They get a big softball crowd in the summer. I give this place two thumbs up.

Saw the sign for this place while walking by, figured why not. It is not much of a bier garten at all. I will second another reviewers comment that the bartenders were not very welcoming, and another's that the draft selection is really limited. I was looking behind the bar and it was pretty gross, then the bartender put all this really horrible top-40 music on the jukebox, that was my cue to leave. I went down the street to another divey place called High Beck Tavern and had a way better time, they also poured much larger shots there.

    (2)
  • Sarah S.

I like beer, and I like patios, so automatic 3 stars. However, for a "bier garten", their selection is not that great. I can get Blue Moon on tap anywhere. But the food is decent and the atmosphere is nice. Plus it's in my neighborhood which is always a win for me in terms of walking/taxi home. I've eaten everything from German potato salad to grilled cheese and pizza and never been disappointed, but the service sucks sometimes. A good place to catch a game with a group or casual lunch but I wouldn't recommend for a date or family dinner.

    (3)
  • David D.

Bier garten? I think not. The draft selection was extremely limited with none resembling something you would find in a 'bier garten'. The service was adequate but the bar tender was not welcoming. The pizza was alright. But I don't think I will be heading back anytime soon.

Ugh, Plank's. I must have missed the memo, but apparently if you work at the Statehouse you have to love this place. For so many of my co-workers, this is the place to be. I no longer work at the Statehouse, so now I hear nothing about Plank's. But when I did, I heard about it all the time. I'm still confused to this day why people love that place so much. To me, there's nothing at all special about it. Maybe it was the gossip that went on here, though, because when I'd come to work the whole Statehouse was abuzz about what happened at Plank's the night before. Everyone, from interns to politicians went here, and when they mix outside of the office, drama undoubtedly happened. But I never got into that whole scene. When I was done with work for the day, I was done, I didn't want all that crap taking up my personal life as well. But for all these people who their jobs are their lives, and that's most of the people who work at the Statehouse, this is their place to unwind after work and create the next day's water cooler conversation topics. Anyway, the only times I have been to Plank's, were, naturally, for work parties. I usually avoided these, but I did attend a few here and there. For the ones that I went to, someone would rent out the entire "banquet?" room area. The big room with tables. Whatever it's called there. Then they'd bring out pizza and we'd have a keg or two of beer. Alright. Free beer and pizza, can't go wrong there. Or can you? I hated parking here. Very rarely was I able to get a spot in the back in their parking lot. The last time I was there I found a spot in front on High St. I guess it wasn't so bad, but I usually have to drive around a bit before I find anything. The entrance is weird. You go around to the back, then go through this door. Right there is the door to the bathroom (so to get to the restrooms you're almost walking out the front door) and then you walk into the main area with the bar and some seating. You walk around the bar in a "U" shape, and go through this other door and down a step or two into the area where our little parties always were. This place smells downright funky. Musty, like old wet shoes or something. Very unappetizing. Outside and in it looks like a cute little German drinking hole. It's not much to look at, and I've never seen it busy besides our big private parties. People always rave about the pizza here. I don't see it. Maybe I think it tastes weird because of the odd stench invading my nostrils, but I also think the pizza is really lifeless. Bland and boring. The crust is thin and chewy, cardboard-y. The sauce is kind of sweet, but not all that zesty. The good news is that there is a lot of cheese on the pizzas, but it's mostly burnt. And this is some really, really greasy pizza. Like you have grease running down your hand when you pick it up. Make sure you have plenty of napkins. We'd have other pizza options, like pepperoni and mushroom. Those were good, but again, nothing really great about them. The pizza is good drunk food for those who are hungry and just don't care. There is a pretty decent back patio, but I've never sat out here because it's a dead zone every single time I've been here. The room is nice enough if you can get past the smell. There are plenty of tables and chairs and TVs line the walls. It's not all that bad, but I would never choose to go here if there weren't free beer. The kegs at our parties were self-serve, so no bartenders helping us out, which was fine. So I can't really speak to the service. But at least the bathrooms have been clean and stocked up. It's definitely not the worst place, but I don't see what's special, either. I do know that once the beer runs out I'm outta there because there aren't any drink specials going on and it could easily get expensive. Plus, it was always a good guideline to give yourself to prevent getting drunk and sloppy in front of the people you work with on a daily basis. I never wanted to be the topic of the next-day office gossip.

  • Gabby B.

Yup, this was a definite Meh. Beers = nothing exciting, and I swear to god the pizza is Tombstone with more toppings thrown on to make it seem fresh. We had garlic cheese bread, which, I was surprised to learn, is coated with Colby- strange choice. If you don't care about that stuff and just want a place to go to drink Miller, then this is the place for you! Service was adequate, but I don't think this will become my local watering hole. Also, the bathroom looked like it was about to collapse, but at least it was clean.

Solid hangout spot in German Village. Big patio, plenty of room inside, cold beer, and bratwurst dinner. We dropped in for a family pow wow on a Friday night and it was no problem to get a big table, order a ton of appetizers, then all manner of entrees (salads, chili, sandwiches, wings, and the previously-mentioned brat dinner). Textbook service, and our waiter was friendly & kind to our more distracted diners - the kids and the seniors. Summer nights, we've hit the patio to hang with the ball teams & nosh on Plank's thin and sweetly sauced pizza. Hits the spot with a lighter beer. There is a small parking lot, rare for GV. Great for a good time all around.

Having gone to the Planks on Parsons, and hating it, I was hesitant to try this one. But I've heard over and over again that it's better and different. Went to meet friends for a birthday and had the pizza which was GREAT. MUCH better than the sweet, unappetizing pizza at the other Planks. I was also privy to pretzel sticks which were good. The nachos and the subs looked great but didn't try them. The crowd was a big mix of old, young, families and singles. I will be back and will absolutely order their pizza again.

Horrible service... Table was dirty, took 15 minutes to get menus/ drink order. Ordered an appetizer that never came. Salad came out and immediately saw a hair in the dressing. Salad plate had tomato sauce all over the side. Waitress never came back to check on food or see how we were doing. We ended up asking another waitress for our check. Wont be back...

Planks has great pizza. Dough made fresh everyday Hamburgers are great too. This restaurant / bar makes CBUS the great city it is. During Bluejacket hockey season this place is Hockey Town!!!!

Service was atrocious. Save yourself the trouble of trying to get a beer in a beer garden (completely ignored by the waitress for 20 minutes), and go to Gresso's down the street. Better food, local beer, friendly owner and staff.

This place is a bit deceiving. By the looks of it, and considering the neighborhood, you'd really think you'd be in for some quality German food. Now, I realize that nobody in German Village (as far as I've found) is doing truly authentic German, but at least places like Schmidt's put out a really well-done and tasty Americanized version of it. We came for lunch, so we didn't drink, but we did sit near the bar. In the winter time, it's really cold and drafty, even though the heat was obviously cranked. Plank's food is kind of sad. My wife got the wet beef. A flavorless pile of roast beef served like an open faced sandwich topped with unseasoned gravy. I went with the brats: Johnsonville served with jarred flavorless lukewarm kraut served on straight-out-of-the-bag slightly-stale cheap hot dog buns with a side of soupy and overly-sugary "German" potato salad. At least the service was good. Very friendly staff, and quick.

Ate here while passing through town for the night. Delicious food, quick & friendly service. For a place with "bier garten" in the name, I was expecting a larger beer selection. The fried pickles were amazing. We also had the crab bruschetta, Philly cheese steak, and the white pizza. All were delicious!! They told us they make their own pizza dough. I would definitely come back here if I were in Columbus again!

Expensive price for a crap sandwich. $9.25 for a sandwich and it had NO meat on it. The "famous" Dagwood had One tiny slice of meat & was all bread!! Reuben was a little better but still got skimped on meat. I got fries with it and they were limp and had a total of 9 fries( yes I counted and it was 9 lousy fries!!!) We are actually pissed and are extremely easy going people. I wish we complained. My husband was starving afterward! We have been here before and this was by far the worse food we have received. We got screwed!Totally disappointed and never going back.

What do people think a bier garten is? Here's a quick run-down: A bier garten is an outdoor area in which beer, other drinks, and local foods are served. Plank's offers all of that. So let's clarify really quickly that it is in fact a bier garten. They have 10 beers on draft, many more bottles, and full bar otherwise. They serve house-made pizza in their large outdoor space. Come on, people! As far as family-run businesses go, I love going into Plank's. I always feel like a friend here, drink great beer, and always get great service - even with a patio full of softball teams (Let's give credit where it's due - those servers know how to work it when the restaurant and patio fill up with teams! I'd cave under that pressure!) Yeah, it's a little run-down, but that's what gives it character. If you don't like a dive, then why bother? Go to Plank's for some great pizza, great beer, and even better conversation. There is always a character at that bar!

    (5)
  • Rachel W.

I visited here for the first time last week. It just happened to be the closest bar. The outside area was nice, but for a Bier Garten, I expected more beers on tap. They had like 5 taps and all of them were beers you could get at any other bar. My vodka cranberries were good and the prices were reasonable, but I expected some kind of beer selection.

In 1979 I was coaching a girls softball team (mostly girls from Grove City who played together some years earlier in high school). They were all 98 lb. weaklings so pre-season I told them for every regular season game we won we'd go to Plank's and drink beer and tequila. First game and those little ladies were smacking home runs all over the place. They never lost a regular season game! So for two years I was drinking tequila and beer twice a week at Plank's. On August 7th I met my future wife, a nurse, there. She'd just moved to Columbus. Our first date was at Engine House #5 on August 10 where we dined on Dungeness Crab. On September 27 we saw Rocky 2, went to Beck's Tavern, and I proposed. We were married December 31. So far, so good. There's no way I can avoid giving Plank's a 5-star rating. We're going to see our middle son in a ju jitsu (sp?) tournament at Pickerington High School North this afternoon. Then he has to get back to Akron before the bad weather hits. Terri and I are going to Plank's. I may have a shot or two of tequila and a beer. ;o)

Yikes. Never eating here again. The service was bad, and the beer is the best thing on the menu. I wish a half star rating was a possible option. #PlanksBierGarten #HighSt #JustSayNo #Columbus

Friends and I took our boys between baseball game at Berliner. I can't say how cool the waitress and staff were our boys spilled drinks and ordered everything lol. Needless to say that we sampled Burgers, Pizza, Fries, Chicken Fingers and everything was awesome and I mean everything. I am going to be spending more Sunday's eating Pizza at Planks.

I was told to try the pizza. Well I did and I regret it. I love thin crust but this was like eating g a card board cracker or stale dough. I was very disappointed. I won't be ordering pizza from here again. I had a sandwich and it was decent so I gave it 2 stars.

Long story short - I had a tray of drinks spilled on me and my bill was incorrect and we got the wrong food, and the food was cold and the beer was warm. The details: My friend and I arrived at 6pm for happy hour. We were one of just a few tables there at the time. We got our drinks in a reasonable amount of time, but our server, Karen, took over 20 minutes (after dropping off our drinks) to come back to get our appetizer order. The beers were warm, but I'm not one to complain about something minor like that. The food took 30 minutes to arrive, and when it did, she dropped it off and literally ran off...and she had dropped off a wrong item. The other item that we did in fact order was cold. When we finally got her attention, she did put in the correct order for us, which arrived a while later (also cold). At this point we were out of drinks and wanted to order another. It was a bit busier, but there were still empty tables in the restaurant. This is when our server was walking to another table and spilled an entire tray of drinks down my back and all over my purse. Like, I'm talking probably 8 beers. I was soaked. My purse was full of beer. Nobody offered me a towel to clean off with. Karen just picked up the glasses from the ground and ran off. I used the few napkins on the table to try to sop up the beer. Someone else came along a few minutes earlier to wipe down the table, but she didn't say anything to me or my friend. We finally got our second round of drinks, which again, were warm. When the check came, it was incorrect. I tried for about 10 minutes to get our server's attention to get this corrected, but she was MIA. I finally gave up and just paid the incorrect price. I'd like for a manager to message me on here. I couldn't believe the horrible service, and my purse still smells like beer. And I thought it was pretty crappy that after I had an entire tray of drinks poured down my back, there was no effort to say sorry...couldn't you have given me my appetizer for free? Especially since it came out wrong the first time and was cold...sigh.

I don't like giving bad reviews, but this place... horrid service. Waited 20 minutes for someone to help us. Server initially told us someone would be right with us and then proceeded to pass right by at least 10 different times and completely ignored us. We actually left because we were tired of waiting and being blatantly ignored. There are too many great places to eat and drink in German Village to put up with that garbage.

The pizza was fine, the service just adequate. The bartender took my to go order and the pizza was good, just not great.

Super disappointed in the service here. The food was good, and the atmosphere was excellent on a perfect 72 degree night. The service was awful. The waitress forgot to put in our order for pizza, and she didn't realize it until the rest of our group already had their food. She promised we'd get a discount, but that never materialized. It also took about 30 minutes to get our checks after we'd asked for them. This place has a lot of potential, and you may have better luck on a different night. But I won't be going back here without some assurances from management that things will be better.

So far i've been here twice, both times its been a regret. Granted i've gone for dinner, and not to get drunk and have bar food and maybe thats been my mistake. The dining room is freezing in the winter, don't think about taking your coat off because i'm pretty sure there is no insulation. The basket of fries we got were burned on the outside and barley cooked on the inside. Both times i've gone the pizza tastes like Chef Boyardee took a heavy hand in the creation of the pizza. It comes served on warped little cardboard plates and has the taste of something i'd expect from the food court at Cedar Point or Six Flags. Who knows, maybe it tastes great when you're blackout drunk.

This is a solid bar with great, straightforward pizza. Plenty of seating indoors and outdoors, TVs everywhere (great spot to watch a Buckeye game), and plenty of bar food options. The pizza is what makes this a 4 star, in my opinion. It's a classic central Ohio pizza - thin crust, not too heavy on the sauce, best when crispy/well done, and liberal ingredients (pepperoni and green olives is still my favorite combo, though bacon and banana peppers is not too shabby). Oh, and 2 other notes: 1) this is not the Planks on Parsons and the pizza is not crazy sweet (IMO: weird), and 2) parking is usually pretty easy on S. High St., which is a plus.
