This place is fine. The food is average. I had a cob salad and my friend had mahi mahi. I didn't have any problems with service but we sat at the bar. The bartender Aaron was super nice. The food and ambience is on par with an Applebee's.

Miller's Ale House is a chain restaurant serving American bar food. This one in Columbus has a pretty big physical footprint, with plenty of open space and numerous TVs. There's a dining section along with a completely separated bar area. It seems like the perfect place to catch a game. Miller's Ale House seems like the typical chain restaurant to me (ie. Applebee's, Chili's, Texas Roadhouse) but with a more extensive beer list and larger food portions. I found it refreshing that they have rotating daily special. I visited on a Monday, when they offered a 1.25 lb. full rack of baby back ribs for $10.99. While the price is hard to beat (normally $17.99), the actual taste (or lack thereof) was disappointing. I found myself asking for extra BBQ sauce. It was hard for me to find any intrinsic meat flavor or smokiness. However with that said, I was full afterwards. The rib meal came with 2 sides. Value yes, taste not so much. Anyways, Miller Ale House is certainly a good option for big groups or to grab a beer while watching the game. As long as you're expecting chain restaurant experience and food, you won't be disappointed. The portion sizes are generous and the pricing is fair. Their Tuesday Ossobuco dinner for $11.99 sounds very tempting, so I may actually be back to try that.

Went in to grab a bite after an unexpected office closure on the street. Place was slow with lots of staff around. After waiting 10 minutes for drinks I ordered an app. It was good, not great, but then I decided I wanted to take a meal home and have a small portion there. I got the shrimp Alfredo. Well, I got it, after waiting through half hour of pregame, and most of a quarter. It was stone cold, but I couldn't flag down my waitress because she was with other customers...I went to the restroom after 15 minutes of waiting, finally just asked for a doggy bag. What I got was a slammed down Styrofoam container with a cracked top and a dismissive groan. I tip well. But I can't believe I would sit there and be completely blown off for other tables during a slow period. What would have been a 8-10 dollar tip went out the window when I was literally waving my arms and she looked right at me and kept walking. I forgot why I stopped going here. Now I remember!

Meh. The craft beer list is deserving of ironic quotes around craft. The list is paltry and lacks diversity in style or flavor. I was glad to see a local IPA on tap from Columbus Brewing, but otherwise, it's uninspired. The food wasn't terrible, but it also lacked originality. Service was good. I can see why people would like this place for sports -- there are TVs are any surface that isn't moving -- but you can do much better in Columbus.

Large place with lots of TV's. So many you can't avoid them. Good place to watch some sports. I came here with a buddy before heading to a concert. We were sat immediately, but it took a manager to notice nobody was serving us. So he came over and asked if anyone was, and then got a server for us. From that point on service was good. Food was okay, nothing I had was too special to talk about. However, I was disappointed in the beer selection. I wish they carried more local brews. Pretty much every beer on the menu you could get anywhere, nothing special, not much of an ale house by my standards.

Came here for dinner/drinks. This place is huge! I felt like we (just my boyfriend and I) were seating in a weird place. We walked in and expected to be seated at a nearby table or booth (there were quite a few empty ones). Instead, we were taken on a long walk to the entire other side of the restaurant to the large back room, and we were seated at a tiny high table. We had almost the whole back room to ourselves; it was strange. Food-wise, pretty decent and affordable. We ordered the fiesta nachos as an appetizer, and the plate was HUGE! My boyfriend and I could have definitely just ordered that to split between the two of us, and it would have been more than filling. We didn't know that and instead ordered a steak and flatbread which we were barely able to take more than a few bites out of before getting totally full. Something else that I noticed was there were so many TV's. In the back room (where I was sitting), televisions were lined up side by side on the wall, circling the entire room! I counted 20+ TV's in one room. Each was showing a different channel too. Overall, decent location, food portion sizes were generous and priced reasonably, seating was a little weird. Seems like a good place to hang out / meet up with a large group of friends.

So i went to Millers last night, and i can honestly say ive never seen larger portions in my life. EVER!! They have a great selection of beer for pretty good prices, whoch was good considering its an ale house. They live up to their name in this department. We got the loaded fries and calamari to start, calamari was decent, nothing special. The fries are great though and come on a huge saucer... The most surprising thng is that with these huge portions, they have very fair prices!! I got the mahi mahi tacos with fries... Delicious and filling. Basically no disappointments here! My froend got the nachos... And all i can say is WOAH. Unreal. Enough for seriously ten people. Feast your eyes...

The service is great and has an awesome layout for watching a lot of games, particularly on NFL Sundays and March Madness. The baby back ribs, however, are nowhere near as good as Memphis ribs- maybe because it's Columbus LOL.

I used to live in Miami and would frequent the North Miami Beach Ale House almost once a week. My brother lived on the Gulf side of Florida and also enjoyed his fair share of the Ale House. When I was back in Ohio for the holidays, he informed me that a Miller's Ale House had opened in Chicago, and we had to go there. I immediately asked when? We were doing some shopping in Columbus and decided to go to Miller's afterward. It had the exact same setup as the NMB Ale House. I ordered my usual 35 fried shrimp buffalo style with sides of hot sauce and ranch. They tasted exactly the same as I remembered, and I loved every, single bite. They were way more filling than I remembered and even with my brother helping me, I regretted to leave some on my plate. Maybe it's just the nostalgia, but I absolutely love this place. I wish they would build on in Charlottesville, or maybe Cleveland, so I could go when I was visiting family.

Millers, or Columbus Ale House as some call it, is conveniently located right in front of my apartment complex, so I find myself there all too often. It's a chain based out of Florida, so don't expect anything to fancy or amazing when it comes to food quality, but it's a large family restaurant for when you want a quick meal or if you have a large group. The wood paneling all around the restaurant is a little odd, but it goes with their deep sea fishing theme (there are fishing poles everywhere). Doesn't make any sense for a Columbus restaurant, but I'll let that slide. They have an awesome craft beer selection, and $10 pitchers of various mixed drinks. Needless to say, the prices here are MUCH cheaper than anything you're going to find in the Victorian Village/Short North area down the street. It's a great place to watch a game, there are TVs everywhere, and you can actually sit down, which is rare during March Madness or an Ohio State football game. Weeknight dinner specials are another high point for me. On Mondays they have a whole rack of ribs and 2 sides for just $10.99... doesn't get much better than that. Finally, I have to call out their ice cream cake. It has some fancy name about a pirate or treasure or something, but it is the best ice cream cake I have ever eaten, hands down. Imagine Dairy Queen ice cream cake and multiply it by like 10, you're still not even on the level of this cake. Millers is an awesome addition to the area!

So Miller's Ale House is apparently a chain restaurant that serves what I would call American bar food. I would say that it's ultimately similar to Applebee's or Chili's. Except Miller's is much better than Applebee's. First, their beer list is much more impressive-- for both regular beer drinkers and craft beer drinkers. It being a newer building, the interior is clean, modern, and comfortable. There is an impressive amount of TVs positioned throughout the restaurant. The wait staff is friendly. Parking spaces are ample. The pricing is reasonable, and the food portions are generous. In terms of food quality, Matt the Miller's down the street in Grandview is far superior, but you'll probably leave Miller's Ale House feeling more full. Since Applebee's at Olentangy & Ackerman recently ruined their happy hour appetizer deal by slashing portions and selection significantly, I'll probably replace them on my rotation of American bar food restaurants with Miller's Ale House. With that said, while I hope that this restaurant succeeds, Grandview is already full of some heavy hitters when it comes the bar food scene with places like the Winking Lizard, Matt the Millers, The Old Bag of Nails, and the new Hofbrauhouse. It'd be nice to see Miller's Ale House pick it up a notch by offering more special deals to differentiate itself.

I ordered shrimp tacos and ate 3/4 of one of them... Probably one of the worst things I have ever eaten. Tall beers were cold and service was poor at best. Beer was usually empty and had to waive down our server for a refill and it was not even busy. Of our group of 8 no one liked their food. My buddy ordered his burger well done and it was a bloody mess when it came out. This is one place I would not return to.

Nice location and great lunch menu at reasonable prices. Perfect for big work or friends parties, as the seating lounge areas are huge.

Checked this place out last night for dinner with family and I'd say it's "meh". The place is HUGE with about 200 TVs it seems. There is ample seating and parking. They have a pretty large menu with a lot to choose from. I went with the fajitas and wasn't impressed. Didn't seem like my chicken was seasoned at all. Everyone else at the table enjoyed what they got so the next time I'd just try something different. The prices are reasonable. I'd compare this place to an Applebee's or TGIFridays in food options and prices. Our server was nice, but things moved really slow. The majority of our group was heading to a concert at the Schott and we got there with plenty of time. By the end we were rushing cause it took awhile to place our orders and to receive food. All in all- it was a nice atmosphere and a decent menu at fair prices so I'd give it another shot for sure.

Great atmosphere, every seat is in easy view of a game or games. 64 beers on tap, enough selection to satisfy the most discriminating palate. Our server, Erin, was prompt, polite, attentive and perky. She offered suggestions for our appetizers and beer. I ordered the Ale House Mini Burgers and the Sideswipe Coop Looter, the burgers were bland but the beer was excellent. My son ordered the Philly Cheese Steak, he said it was excellent. People next to us ordered the Chicken Nacos and the portion appeared large enough to feed a family of five. Plenty of parking behind the building.

I stopped by to meet a few friends and check out the UFC fights along with the playoff game. The service was a little slow at the bar, but it was busy. The drink costs were a little high at $3.77/domestic, but being able to watch fights that would have cost me $55 on PPV made it worth it. Not a bad sports bar environment. The layout provides plenty of viewing angles to the numerous TVs for sports watching. One funny story (to me at least) is that the bathroom was busy and the handicap stall happened to be available when the urinals were in use. Conveniently they have a sink within the stall to wash your hands at, of which I used. Walking out I realized if I just head out the door everybody else in the bathroom will think I didn't wash my hands. I was compelled to wash my hands a second time at the regular sink so not to be judged. If I didn't know about the extra sink and watched an employee just walk from stall and out the bathroom door, I would have been grossed out.

The atmosphere is good. They have wall to wall TVs and a huge patio. The food is over priced and mediocre at best. I rarely send food back, but they served me oysters that were clearly too old. I am an oyster consumer and I would definitely not recommend them here. The rest of the menu reminds me of an Applebee's, but more expensive. Go for the beers and the TVs, but not the food.

Probably my new favorite sports bar in Columbus. First off, the place is HUGE. Of the three or four times I've gone, only once was there a wait to get a table - and that time I was able to sit with a friend at the bar to avoid the wait. There are LOTS of TVs in the place that make it perfect for watching your sport of choice. They have a good selection of craft brews and the food is above average for a sports bar. I'm a big fan of the "British Burger" (swiss cheese + bacon). Additionally, most of their apps are $5/off after (yes, AFTER) 10 pm. So what's not to love about this place?!

    (5)
  • Rachel W.

This is your standard sports bar/chain restaurant with a big menu full of any typical American meal you would want. I had some kind of southwest chicken salad which was pretty good. I also had a white sangria which tasted good but I'm certain had very little alcohol in it. Service was normal. Despite being a bar, this is probably a good place to bring kids because it is huge and you could be sat somewhere where your kids wouldn't annoy anyone.

We came here because we live in Victorian Village and there's a parking lot. Enough said. Overall, the food is pretty Applebee's like. It's chain food so not great and not bad. It's a huge restaurant and it has televisions on every square inch of wall space so if you can't find anywhere to watch a game this would be the place. The staff is friendly but young so it's not like the local places where they can recommend a beer but they can smile and tell you they're out of it! When we went they were out of several beers so that surprised me with it being so empty at the time. It's not near anything but when you just want a damn parking lot it may work. Expect Applebee's and you'll be pleasantly surprised!

Millers Ale House is definitely a place to go with a group! The portions are HUGE.. Especially the Nachos. They have tons of beer options and drink specials, and a very vast menu that can please any picky eater. The food is just.. Bland. Nothing special in the cuisine, but definitely a place to watch a game, as they have TVs everywhere!

  • Sean S.

THE FOOD: Bland. Poorly-seasoned. (Pick any ho-hum adjective to use here and you'll be in good shape.) The onion rings had a nice crunch to them, but tasted fishy. The burger I ordered was almost flavorless, which is hard to achieve considering there were a couple strips of bacon and jalepeños on top. The only thing I could taste were the char marks on the beef patty. My meal tasted like one big pile of nearly-flavorless carbs. The person I was with felt the same about his meal.....which is strange considering he ordered the Seafood Combo. THE SERVICE: It's decent. Our waitress (both times we've been here) was very pleasant. IN CLOSING: Miller's Ale House has a really nice beer selection. The only way I can recommend this place is if you happen to work in the area and want to grab a beer or two before heading home. Sadly, you can get better food from just about any similar type of restaurant pub (and there are many), and this includes franchises. You can also find a nearly identical atmosphere in most of them. I'm one of those people who can't stand numerous TVs showing three or four different channels simultaneously. If I wanted to watch TV while I ate dinner I'd cook it myself at home......and it'd taste better. MILLER'S ALE HOUSE: Come for the beer. Leave for the food.

I went here with a group of 9 people and yes this is a good place for groups. The restaurant is huge and there are TVs surrounding the entire place. Don't come here if you have high expectations for food. The food was mediocre, nothing that you couldn't make in your own kitchen at home. Do come here for you want to drink beer, watch a sports game, and eat bar food. Our service was good, no complaints on that part. However, we did come in when it was around 60 degrees and it was HOT! Almost uncomfortably hot. I can only imagine what it is like now that it is in the 80's and humid. Lets hope they fixed that problem. They do have "call ahead seating" but no advance reservations.

Lemon Pepper my wings Their Lemon Pepper wings may have dethroned my previous favorite Rooster's carolina gold flavor wing. It is exceptionally good and light since it is not a sauce wing. I do have a gripe: It clearly says there is nuts in the apple crisp. I ask them if they can take the nuts out of it and each waiter/waitress claims there are no nuts in it. THERE ARE. This is dangerous not to know.

    (4)

Great food. Great waitress's. The waiters can be fruity but still professional. Lunch specials are large and cheap. Ask for the frequent lunch card. No real regular drink specials but a decent selection.

This place....is a hole. Hell hole? Shit hole? Crap hole? That's for you to determine when you decide to waste your time/money at this place. Where to begin? This place is a joke. The drinks are pathetic. 2/3 of the entire drink menu originates from either miller or from anheuser busch. Pretty lousy from a place that acts like they offer an eclectic drink menu. Don't fool yourself when you read, "miller ale house", and then think "oh they must offer a wide variety of beers from all of the small domestic breweries". This is not the case. Now, let's talk about the food at this place. If you like your food to have been dropped off, frozen, from a large semi truck, then yum you've found you're joint. Rather, if you enjoy a place that actually puts just a little bit bit of thought into what they create and serve to people then never, ever, go to this place. Let me put it this way. In the process of waiting for my "food" to come out, I witnessed a fat man sitting in a stool at the bar begin to choke on his food until his choking became so violent until he fell on his ass and stooped his fat man act. Luckily for the l fat man he literally fell out out of his stool he landed in the ground and coughed out whatever he was choking on. Once we were served our food, we were surprised by very little. Everything looked like it came right off the frozen food truck and dropped right into the frier. Other than an order for one and what cane was an Oder for three, there was nothing pleasant about the food. Greasy and a fowl presentation was all that awaited us. I highly recommend never frequenting or attending this place and saving yourself the time and the money.

I came here for lunch with a small group. The server was training someone new, which is fine, but it may have contributed to slower service. I cannot confirm, only assume. I have to give a lower rating as minutes can be precious for the business crowd. The food came in large portions and the French Onion Soup was one of the favorites. I would come back again but maybe not at lunchtime when people may be in a rush to get back to work.

I come to this place every week. Great place to meet friends. Food is good and reasonably priced. They have over 3 dozen tap beers - one of which is my absolute favorite and always stocked. The GM Mike makes me feel totally welcomed, excellent with customer comments and a totally great guy. A must stop place. Scallops, lobster crab. You name it.

So let's get the good things out of the way. Because I really want to talk about the annoying things. -I've been here 3 or 4 times and each time the service was great - friendly, fast, attentive, and for the most part, knowledgeable about the beer being served. -The restaurant itself is huge and spacious and if you're coming with a big group, you'll have plenty of space. TVs are EVERYWHERE. -This might seem like a small detail, but I love small details when dining out.... on each table they have a grinder for their pepper AND salt. I love that. It probably taste no different than salt out of a shaker, but I like my salt fresh, dammit! -The zingers are great as a starter. We got the honey BBQ. They are delicious. -The dish that made me want to write a review for this place was the beer battered Fish and chips. Holy cow, when the menu says you get a generous portion, YOU GET A GENEROUS MF'ING PORTION! The first several bites were SO yummy. Crispy, flaky deliciousness. I'm a slow eater... so by the time I was about half way done, the fish became soggy and the texture was gross. So these are great of you can eat a bucket of fillets in record time or if you don't mind soggy fish. -My previous dishes were good but unremarkable. Run of the mill large restaurant type food. It's good but forgettable. - We split the Captain Jack's slice of ice cream pie. It is super delicious but I'm glad it was split 3 ways (2 adults, 1 kid). -I love craft beer. Anyone who loves craft beer or is interested in, well, knowing things about the beer they're drinking, asks questions. One response that I don't mind hearing when I ask a question the waiter/waitress doesn't know is "I don't know, but let me check". A response that is completely unacceptable to me is "I don't know". I got that response and it makes me have a mini rage inside. -They're sweet potato fries are served with a cinnamon butter thick whipped butter- type concoction. Now, I'm a purest when it comes to my sweet potato fries. If a restaurant has to serve something with them, it probably means that they're lacking something. And they were. Skip these unworthy abominations and get the regular fries. Unless you like dipping your fries in sweet cinnamon butter, then go for it.

I wouldnt have gone back, but my office made a group carry out order from there, so I participated, and was looking forward to giving them another chance. I wish I hadnt.... I got the blackened chicken breast sandwich which comes with fries. Served with tomato and lettuce on a large Kaiser roll, the chicken breast was the smallest Ive ever seen, overcooked to the point of being so dry, it was tougher than a piece of leather AND full of grizzle. The half slice of tomato was not enough to moisten, what was actually, a bread sandwich of untoasted roll. It was bad...REAL bad. I ate like three bites and threw the rest out. The fries were limp and soggy...obviously undercooked and not seasoned at all. Threw them out as well after about 3 or 4. One of the worst meals I ever ate...or, attempted to eat. Goodbye Millers.

Stopped here for lunch today before heading out of town. We could a few appetizers and lunch...both servings came out super hot and the serving sizes were huge. They had a good beer list and a lot of TV's with various sports on. I'm sure this would be a great place in the fall on football Saturdays and Sundays. Would def stop there again.

This place had a lot of potential, but fell short. They were out of several beers. Our server was distracted and slightly inattentive. Prices were good. Appetizer was pretty tasty, but a bit bland. I got the special that evening, which was a 1/4 rack of ribs. They were incredibly dry and overcooked. Mashed potatoes were good, but the outside edges were hard-probably sitting out too long before I got my food. My date's steak was good, but again bland. A bit disappointed.

Applebee's ain't got nothing on this place, well except for maybe better food, better prices, and better service. Large beer selection, asked the waiter for a good local option, but when I drank the beer he suggested it was skunky and clearly old - on dealer's choice how are you going to suggest something that has such low circulation that the keg needs to be recycled..? Relied on my own choices afterwards. The food served seemed as if it were prepackaged frozen meals taken out of a box and reheated in a microwave. Bland and generic is being generous. Positive - plenty of TVs at every angle to watch the game. I won't be making a return visit!

This place is great, it's like a defranchised Applebee's. The pros: gigantic portions. The cons: well, like I said, it's like a locally owned Applebee's

Good beer, above average bar food, great place to watch a game. Mixed opinions about the service and portion sizes. As a previous review eluded too the portions are weird. One say I get a fish sandwich with about 3 or 4 filets, 3 weeks later, the filet didn't even extend outside of the bun. Service can also be incredibly slow for random reasons. I recommend this place but if you get jipped on a portion size make sure you ask for a manager.

Had a party of 6 adults and 4 kids. Took awhile to get the beers ordered, took even longer to get our food *ordered* and when it came out, one in our party didn't get her entree. If our waitress didn't take so long in between visiting our table, this might not have been an issue, but she tended to disappear for long periods of time and by the time they finally brought out the missing entree, the fish was tough and overcooked and they had to make her something new. the food was all right, but the service is what made our experience 'meh'. I get that it's a pain to serve a large party, but one would think for a good tip and quick turnaround, you would be more attentive.

On the fence about this place. We had the wings, a burger and the chicken nachos. The chicken nachos were pretty good but there is enough for 6 people. The burger was dry and there was too much bun for small amount of meat. The hubby said the wings were decent but he would go to Rooster's for his wing fix in the future. There is a lot to choose from on the menu and I am sure they have some items that taste better than what we had. With that said, I feel that a place like this should have a fantastic burger... if you don't do this right, do you fail at the other items? I'll have to try something else "if" I go back. We did see that they had an impressive beer tap collection and their beer was at the right temperature. Good lacing on the glasses.

The hubs dragged me here again. Ordered the zingers, which I previously stated was the only edible thing on their menu. Apparently they strive for horrible food because these were super dry and tasted previously frozen (they claim they're not). Sent the order back, another round of zingers came out just as dry as the first. If you like chewing your chicken for days, you'll love this place. Even the hubs said he'd never eat here again (YAY!!!!!!). Done.

Slow service, empty dining room. Good was fine maybe a little cold. At lunch on a Saturday it worked fine for kids. Reminds me of old Damons. Has an audio booth. Probably won't go back may be better at night just adults beer and games on tv.

This place is fairly non-fussy. Initial thought: I was surprised to hear it was a "seafood place". Being in the middle of Ohio I think it's hard to market yourself as a quality chain seafood joint. So I didn't get seafood... What I did get was basic boneless wings which they dub 'zingers' and the chili. Both were fine. Barely anything to write home (or on yelp) about. I got a blue moon seasonal beer (my first order of southern tier anything was out). I may come back to try other food, but based on what I got, Winking lizard will always do it better and cheaper in the wings and beer arena. I would recommend the place to get a big cheap domestic beer and watch a game. They have an impressive amount of TVs. Take it or leave it.

Generic food that is a step above Applebee's in quality. Awful mixed drinks. Boring beer menu. Mediocre service. They have tons of TVs; a good place to catch a game, but you need to get there pretty early for large events.

This is just an okay spot to meet after work because they are open late. There's usually a drink special of some kind. I can't speak about the beer selection bc I don't drink it. The food is just okay too. The grilled zingers are pretty good, but the pot stickers taste like old frying oil.

I've been here a couple of times now with the after work happy hour crew. Excellent, clean finishes, the place looks good. Tons of TVs if you're sports minded. Two massive bars. Like, you walk through, toward the back of the place and ask yourself "is that a wall of mirrors, because I see a full bar over there and surely there aren't two complete, gigantic full bars here." Well, it's not a mirror, and there are two complete, gigantic full bars. Borders on overkill, especially with the weird electronic glass sliding doors between them. I heard a rumor that this might have something to do with smoking? Like, when it isn't winter or something, that bar may somehow have some outside effect that allows it to have smoking? Beats me. Just a rumor. Service has been spotty. The staff must have sections that are too large for them, which is possible given the size of the place, or are just not overly competent. Either way, I've had issues getting things in a timely fashion. And I'm not too picky. I just think five minutes is a bit long to wait for a drink. Also, they served me a rancid, disgusting draft beer. Like, bad to the point that I think the lines were bad or the keg was bad, I dunno. That was an isolated incident, however, and my other beers have been just fine. The food is okay. Nothing to write home about. Standard chain, casual TGIF type place. Oh, lastly, they do feature some pretty insane food specials that make it really affordable to eat here. Like, one day, cant' recall, Thursday maybe, they have a rack of ribs for $7.99. Just an example. The fish tacos are totally decent. cuz you know I had to order those.

I went to Miller's Ale House the week it opened and had a pretty mediocre experience at best. I probably wouldn't have gone back, except someone wanted to have a meeting there. It was worth another chance now that they've had some time to iron out the kinks, right? Wrong. From the time we were seated until a server came to take our drink order, thirty five minutes passed. THIRTY FIVE MINUTES. When we finally flagged down a server, she seemed annoyed that we were bothering her. Sorry, won't do it again. We had one drink and concluded our evening there. I mentioned in my earlier review that there were no local beers available. There's been some progress here...now, for example, you can get a North High Brewing Milk Stout. For NINE DOLLARS. Don't do that. Put your wallet back in your pants, drive over to North High, get excellent service in a fantastic atmosphere, spend four dollars less for the same pint, and celebrate the fact that you aren't at Miller's Ale House. Never go here. Never, ever go here.

First time here and was not good. We waited over an hour for our order. 2 sandwiches. Now with that being said we were there at lunch rush. There were a lot of Christmas party's which were 15 or more people. I'm guessing we fell through the cracks. We sat at the bar and our waitress Deb was totally awesome. She was just as aggregated as we were. Talked with the GM Mike I do believe his name was. I expressed our concerns and what we saw. He offered no excuses and took full responsibility for what was going on. Mike was awesome to talk with. Between Mike and Deb they made sure our meal was there quickly. I won't write this place off as I will return. I do believe in second chances. I honestly believe that we went at a very rough time and what could go wrong went wrong. Hey it happens. Food was good and beer was cold.

Headed downtown to meet up with friends, and my friend and I opted to pop in here to grab a bite to eat. It's an okay place. I mean, the food is unremarkable, but the staff was super friendly, and there are TVs *everywhere* - it's a serious sports bar type place, with two huge-ass bars. It just reminded me of being in a (more brightly lit) dive bar back in the middle of BFE (where I am from). Lots of loud drunk people, with food that you could cook better at home, with a lot of friendly people around you.

Should be renamed as Miller's [cheap] Ale House, as the beer selection is pretty disapointing compared to a lot of the good craft beer places our fine city of Columbus has. At least there's a small local section of the menu. The a-ok portion of this is the food. Prepared fast and reasonably good. I had the fish tacos, which were good, but not the best I've ever had, and at $11 for 3, not the cheapest either. Service was, interesting... Waitress asked us "was your meal delicious?", which I've never heard anyone say before. I overhead another server asking it, so it seems like a chain thing. Just kind of odd and rehearsed. The place is huge, but the seating is a bit awkward, Our couple of 2 was seated at a high top for 8, even though there were plenty of booths and smaller tables available. I agree that the automatic sliding doors between the front and the back make this place seem odd.

We had somewhat of a bad experience here, but I was so impressed with how it was handled, I'll come back again for sure. We stopped in after the big event at the Ohio Stadium this Saturday to grab some lunch. It didn't SEEM too busy, and we were seated right away in the back bar/fireplace room. We were served our drinks quickly, and placed our order. As we enjoyed our drinks and chatted, we saw the place fill up, and suddenly realized that our drinks were empty - and that we had been waiting for our food for almost an hour. The server was obviously under pressure, but was also calm and pleasant. Long story short, the food finally arrived but it was obviously dried out from sitting under a heat lamp (this does not improve fish tacos!), and we asked to speak to a manager. The manager could not have been more kind and understanding, and comped our entire meal, drinks included. Everyone on the staff was lovely, gracious and calm, and trying their best to keep up with the unanticipated crowd. This is a nice place, and I've enjoyed the food and atmosphere. I did this review because I am SO impressed with the staff and management. You can get good bar food in a lot of places. Calm, pleasant staff and responsive, positive management? I'll come back for that every time.

The food was good and our service was spectacular. We ordered chicken nachos (run of the mill bar food, but HUGE), a Philly cheesesteak (delicious) with sweet potato fries (cold and limp), and a chicken ceaser salad that my wife enjoyed. We met some friends here to watch the OSU vs MSU game. TVs are everywhere, and the atmosphere was great, but they had major technical difficulties all night. The TVs kept turning off for short periods of time, so you would miss full plays, and when they turned back on, the audio would be ahead of the picture, so every play was spoiled. I likely will not go back here for a prime time game that I care about.

I wouldn't return if it was free. The host was pleasant and offered us our choice of table. The place was pretty empty but it was a Monday night. Our server did not have any idea about the beer selection. She said she just transferred to this location. Evidently, the other location didn't serve beer. The Stella tasted skunky but I had a feeling it would take all night to replace. After looking over the menu, we ordered guac and chips. The guac I am positive was Wholly Guacamole from the grocery store. The chips were cold and from some type of bag. So I determined to keep dinner simple. I ordered a hamburger. It wasn't awful but it certainly wasn't tasty. The fried were limp and flavorless. The rest of the table ordered fajitas. They came out cold. The chicken looked like someone stamped the sear marks on it. If this place is going to make it, they need to revamp their idea of a kitchen.

An ALE HOUSE in Columbus! That rates a 3-star already (selfish me; lived in Florida for +10 years). For those who can relate to Gomer Pyle, "Suuprise, suuuprise, suuprise!", the place is identical to the mother ships down in FLA. With one exception - HUGE! I think they may have over-exceeded their needs. My visit was on a Sunday for lunch - Super Bowl Sunday. So the place wasn't crowded (1PM) as I believe patrons might have been readying themselves for a night of wings, brew and game (GO 'HAWKS). Three of us ordered apps and entrees. The apps were; (1) potstickers - 6 total and they were good but cool quickly on their bed of shredded cabbage; perhaps a little more teryaki drizzle and (2) guacamole dip and chips; solid crock/bowl of guac and average chips. Entrees were; (1) The Big Red - hot & cheesy chicken sandwich with fries that my friend really liked; (2) Cajun chicken past and my other friend inhaled and; (3) for me JAMBALAYA! Their jambalya is really good, medium spicey, poured over dirty rice and steaming hot. We enjoyed it all. No comments on beer consumption since we were still in volunteer mode and had other duties to attend to prior to the Super Bowl. Miller's Ale House was throwing a Super Bowl party that sounded good. $25 all you can eat crab legs, wings, beer... yeah buoy! No 5-star as the place seems too big for my taste. The outdoor indoor patio area with fireplace looked enticing though, so maybe there's hope.

Only reason I would go back here is because I won a 10 dollar gift card at trivia on Tuesday nights. Normal pub food prices but nachos were really really bad... I got the zingers which were on special another tuesday night for trivia and they were pretty good but I would not have paid regular price for them. Our server was VERY did not pay any attention to us, which left us waterless and beerless many times , i actually had to flag down another server to finally ask for our check after waiting 10-15 minutes. the few times she DID come around she must have JUSt got back from her smoke break because the overpowering smell of smoke almost choked me. Gross. Not appetizing at all. We won another gift card at trivia when we went BECAUSE we had a gift card to spend, but we literally tried to leave before he gave it to us because we knew we did NOT want t come back. LOVE the fun trivia here, but there are places with way better food/specials to go for it.

This place is massive and very Applebee's like. I came here for a Friday happy hour and the place was pretty much full by 6pm. Food looked really gross. Pretty good happy hour prices for drinks. I think my house wine was $3 and my boyfriend's tall boy PBRs were $2. Okay place to grab a drink, food looks incredibly underwhelming and overpriced for it's extremely low quality.

All I can say is... this place is ENORMOUS! Such a large Restaurant. We went on Christmas Eve, because our family wasn't coming to Columbus until Christmas Day, so we wanted to just hang out somewhere before the busy day. This was the first place that we ran into that was actually open for Christmas Eve so we stopped in! We sat at the bar to have a few drinks and order some apps since we had never been here before. Maura, the bartender was very very nice and friendly. She made sure everything was good and correct; was on top of it! We had the Dumplings and their boneless wings, both were very good! Would order them again. This seems like it will be a very good place to watch the Ohio State Games if you aren't a tailgating/Campus kind of person. There are a ton of TV's and seating, as well as two bars! I foresee it to become a good spot to enjoy the games! I'm sure we will make a stop there for a game!

Eeehhh. The food is stuff that all comes in frozen and then reheated. They have an okay selection of beers if you like Miller or Busch. They have tons of tvs around the bar which is good for watching sports games. I wouldn't come back here if I was choosing where to go.

Chain food. Chain atmosphere. Chain service. I was looking forward to trying one of their beers and asked the bartender what local or craft beers they had that were not IPAs. She said "nothing." She kept repeating the same couple of lighter beers. I wanted an amber lager and she came up with one at last. Either the staff does not know their products or this chain does not promote local breweries. They also do not give small tastes like most restaurants that feature this many beers. The fries were terrible. They were limp and not seasoned. Salting them at the table is not the same as seasoning them right from the fryer. i would not go back.

This place was extremely over priced and the food wasn't very good. The service was terrible. The kitchen got our order wrong twice, and the managers were incredibly rude when we complained. I think the one we talked to was named Josh or John or something. We received little sympathy and no discount to our bill. My family, friends and I will NOT patronize this restaurant again. $8.95 for a beer? Absolutely not. I don't recommend this place to anyone. I hope to see their doors shut. Anything else in the area is a better value and more pleasant.

Good food and great TVs placed throughout. I got the cheeseburger flatbread which was awesome! They delivered on the cheeseburger taste for sure. Get this as you meal...you will not be disappointed. Also got the ribs which are good not great. Don't come for the beer selection. If you're going to call yourself an "ale" house, be better have more than one page of beers. Overall was good and and reasonably priced. FYI...come early or for lunch because wait can be long at peak times.

I just really like this place! The menu is huge - with every American/bar food/Applebee's/BW3's item you can think of...lots of drink varieties...big portions...great prices! It has tons of TVs, so great for watching a game. Casual atmosphere (I was felt fine in my yoga pants and trainers). Good place to grab a low-key dinner with friends. Still felt like we could carry on a conversation just fine even though there was tons of TVs.

Updating previous review. Had to kill 1/2 hour and was near Miller's so I stopped to have a beer, this is the first time I ordered a drink here. My suspicion was confirmed, the beers are WAY overpriced and I would not return here to drink. I ordered a Ballast Point Sculpin IPA, a craft beer but not one so rare or specialty that it should cost a ton - it was $8.95! Yes, an $8.95 beer at around 4pm which I would think would be happy hour. Yeesh, definitely not coming here for beers - could have gone to Woodlands and had almost 5 craft beers for the same price during happy hour.

"Meh. I've experienced better" is an apt description of this place. Huge bar and dining area that could get rowdy, in a good way, for Ohio State games, but the food was just "meh." The prices are not cheap, either, so the food needs to be better...much better. I suppose it wouldn't be too bad as a place for bar appetizers and drinks. As a place for lunch, though, I'd save my time and money and go somewhere else. Service was fine. No complaints about the servers there. They were nice and attentive.

I am being nice to give it 3 stars. This place shows a lot of potential that they are not meeting. The size and atmosphere is great here. I've been here three times now for a total of 10 observations (mine and my groups) and the general consensus is that the food should/could be better. It can be hit and miss. My most recent visit: The calamari appetizer was ok; it was clearly a pre-frozen product and the spicy and sour sauce was not enough to make it more than just OK. For the entrees I had the New York strip and my colleague had Fish and Chips; his looked good and was good, and mine was just Ok. The steak was cooked medium well instead of medium rare (I don't think that is a big deal though). Overall it was just a bit too thin to cook well (the pic shows a more compact thick cut), and the flavor was not too spectacular. The broccoli side was halfway under-cooked which helped the broccoli get cold all the faster. The baked potato had butter and sour cream on the side - the sour cream was separated into water and cream. The fish and chips was a large portion of fish with a large portion of crispy hot fries. Two visits ago I had the country fried steak special because I could not resist the inexpensive price. When it arrive I found that the quality of the dish was very proportional to the inexpensive price. I can't remember what I had on my visit between these two. I don't know how to explain the staff expect that they are polite and want to take care of you but they seem a bit too Bob Evan'sish for this place. Like one lady who kept pushing the "gyro" (pronounced as spelled) special, and another who stopped at our table to talk too loudly and too often. This visit the hostess said, "follow me" then walked at 1 foot per 3 seconds not knowing where she wanted to go. I'll probably come back again if we have a large group and want to watch a game, or have a beer. I want to emphasize that this place is OK. Worth the whole three stars if you get good food.

2 stars because the other times I have been here my servers were always nice. 1 star from last night.. Server K thought it was ok to clear my table and set it up for the next guests as I was still sitting and chatting with my friends. She even tried to joke, this is weird right? It's ok if it's weird... UMMM. She even swept under our chairs and swept my shoes... maybe they were dirty? I guess she was trying really hard to tell us to get the f out! I don't know what we did to her to be so rude to us.

Miller's Alehouse is just about the least exciting thing to happen to Columbus probably ever. The hype surrounding Miller's opening is comparable to the opening of a laundromat, a hair salon, or a branch office of the post office. What I'm trying to say is, Miller's is almost impossibly mediocre. The first thing I find incredibly mediocre is the interior. I understand going for the "southern roadhouse" look but they built this place brand new and covered literally every inch of the inside with wood paneling. If Miller's interior had a doppelgänger it would be Ponderosa. Second thing, the beer. Matt S commented on how the beer is cheap and generic. That sentiment couldn't be truer... There are deals out the wazoo on ultra mediocre "American" beers but if you want something more like beer and less like piss, you'll be hard pressed to find it on tap at Millers. Lastly, the food. A lot of people commented that Miller's food is a lot like Applebees. I would have to agree, the food is so damn unoriginal it borders on being humorous. I mean they call their chicken wings "Zingers"... I'm pretty sure Miller's was the impetus for the restaurant from Office Space. And yes, our waiter was wearing pieces of flare. All summed up, the only thing about Millers that will be memorable is the spectacular level of mediocrity it has managed to achieve.

Every time I drove by this place since its been open- it has been packed, so I thought it would be a good place to check out for drinks and dinner. The beer selection is excellent but I would say the food is just about average. For the price however, I expected better. I had the ribs, and they were good, not great- i'm not a huge fan of dry rub. My boyfriends fish tacos were not very good at all- very bland. The service was, to put this nicely, interesting. I do not see myself going back here for the food but definitely for the beer selection

Ordered the broiled scallops with slaw and mashed potatoes. The scallops were a average in taste, texture and size. I received 6 pieces and when put on a large plate they looked lonely. My dad had the 35 fried shrimp which were great and my wife the mahi fish tacos which she complimented. Will have to try the turf next time.

I came over for dinner yesterday. I knew of it from going to Pizza Cucinova which is just across the parking lot. It's in a very nice building; looks like they were built at the same time. It had a standard bar type menu-burgere and such. But the also had dishes like jambalaya which is what I planned on ordering until I filled myself up on my appetizer and didn't have enough room left for another large dish. I ordered the buffalo shtimp as a first course and that was enough to fill me up. But I will be going bach to try the jambalaya!

Hosted a going away for a great friend- I was not able to make it to town for the celebration but they figured out a way for me to send a gift and went above and beyond to help me figure out how. Everyone who attended as well as the honoree was beyond impressed with the service and the party. The general manager there should be promoted. Thank you from Charlotte, NC!

Let's start with our first experience... My Mom checked out their online menu for the Columbus location. To our pleasant surprise they had smoked fish dip on the menu. If you've spent any amount of time in Florida, you've likely come across this tasty treat. If you haven't tried it, you owe yourself. I've never seen it on a menu anywhere except Florida. We had to try this place. As soon as we walked in it felt like I stepped into a sea side Florida restaurant. We sat and flipped to the starters section of the menu. What? Where's the fish dip? We asked the waitress and she looked at us like we all had four heads. We explained to her that it was on the online menu for the Columbus location. She got the manager and he had never heard of smoked fish dip. I felt like I just wanted to leave. We had been planning to have a family lunch here all week. This one dish, because we can only get it when we go to Florida, was the main reason we wanted to try this place. To sum up the rest of this particular experience, 2-3 things we ordered came out wrong and our waitress was a dip****. It took a while, but we tried it again. And for some reason we decided to give it one more try here recently. The service is terrible. They were not very crowded on this last visit...it was pretty empty. It's not hard to understand why....if other people have had similar experience, I don't expect this place to last. A guy sitting at the bar received his food and must have been waiting a while to ask for some condiments. Finally he got up and reached behind the bar to grab them himself. A while later the bartender came back out. You never seen Rooster's this dead on any day of the week. So, it isn't that people are not out and about...especially this close to campus/Grandview area. I gave them two stars because the food we did get was good. I don't know what are the hype is about the zingers....their chicken tenders...what's so special? I have had their big red sandwich and sea food sampler. Both were good. I wish you could just get the fried clams without getting the sampler. That is the only reason I ordered the sampler is because it is hard to find a place that has good fried clams.

This is the best bar in Columbus - come here if you're looking to get away from the granola, hipster craft beer snob scene. $3.75 giant miller lites and enough tvs to get a sun tan - food is delicious, no tofu, or organic rabbit food! Love this place!

I have been using Yelp for many years but have chosen not to write many reviews. The service was so poor at Miller's Ale House that I found it necessary to share my experience with other Yelpers. I cannot comment on the food because after being seated we were never greeted by a server for 20 minutes. Even though the restaurant was scarcely empty. Finally, a member of my party flagged down a server who was working in the indoor part of the restaurant (we were seated on the back patio area). It was not his section but he politely took our drink orders and submitted them to the bartender. The drinks were made and set at the waitress pickup station and sat there for another 20 minutes! So, 40 minutes has passed at this point and ZERO recognition from any member of the outdoor wait staff. What was more frustrating is that their were plenty of workers standing around in a practically empty restaurant. After about an hour of no service we decided to leave without even ordering food or receiving warm beer that had been sitting on that bar for nearly 30 minutes. I would not recommend going to Miller's Ale House to anyone in the area. Unless you are comfortably waiting for an extended amount of time.

I would like to share the rest of my experience with Miller's Ale House. After posting the original negative review on Yelp and the company web page I was immediately contacted by the general manager of the restaurant. He was extremely apologetic about our experience. I appreciate his manner and offer of compensation to rectify the situation.

Meh. Brain dead employees, lousy service, bland food and over-priced beers served at the wrong temperature. Decore is even boring and unoriginal. I asked to speak to the manager and he wouldnt even come over, so we left. They also deny law abiding citizen their 2nd amendment right making it a target because we all know criminals abide by signs prohibiting guns. I have no idea where the hype of this place started, but after just one visit, you will see how bad it is.

  • Ariana E.

I don't like giving negative reviews, but I would not recommend this place to anyone for anything. First off, we got there at 10 pm on a Saturday night. There were a clear number of open tables, but we still had to wait at least 15 minutes to be seated. The beer list was disappointing to say the least for an "ale house" with only about 10 big name beers available. The food was way overpriced and not worth it. I had the steamed potstickers which had way too much cinnamon in them. A friend of ours ordered sweet potato fries which tasted like a sad homemade attempt. It seems their main sell is seafood, but I would never risk eating seafood there. The service was fine, but the lack of beers and overpriced poor-quality food was reason enough for me to decide that I will never return. Don't waste your time or money here.

    (1)
  • Marcus S.

Very good food. Best calamari I've had in columbus yet. Staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The prices are about average for the area, but very reasonable for the quality seafood dishes available. Great drink specials, most under $6. Wide range of good ambient music. Plenty of tv's to watch sports. Huge seating area with enclosed patio and outdoor patio. And they are open until 2 am. The only complaint is that the booths are kind of uncomfortable after a while. Overall we were very satisfied with the experience.

  • Michael P.

Wow, cynicism overload on this thread! It's an ALE house - not a Michelin star restaurant. Points to consider: 1. None of my delicious draft beers were above 5 dollars. 2. The bartenders and managers were friendly and courteous. And efficient 3. The buffalo shrimp wee fantastic, and the fish and chips were an absolute STEAL at $10. This was my first visit to the Ale House, and will definitely not be the last. Do not let the delusional Yelper dissuade you - this place is worth it and then some.

    (5)
  • Gail G.

An Ale House? NOT. Mostly all the usual beers that you can get anywhere. No descriptions of beers on the list, and the waitress had NO clue besides "light" or "dark". Too many choices on the food menu to have anything good. The service was not that great either. They had a million people wandering around, but it still took us about 15 minutes to get our first beer. Matt S. is right - it is not the "hipster craft beer snob scene" because if you want decent beer and food, you will have to go somewhere else. I put it up there with Appleby's at best.

I am always excited when new restaurants hit Columbus--and have been hearing good things about this chain so I thought, hey why the heck not check it out! I looked up the menu online beforehand to get an idea of what was being offered and noticed a wide variety of applebees/joes crab shack type food, cheap prices and what seemed like great weekday deals...who doesn't like to save a penny or two these days? But that's just it....the prices are comparable to the quality of food you will receive. Take note! For hearing such positive things I wasn't impressed. Our waitress never brought us waters, was pushy when it came to ordering alcohol and didn't really give us any new customer information besides they are known for their "zingers that you can put all sorts of sauce on". I ordered a glass of the Red Blend and someone brought me out a glass of white--which they then returned with a Cabernet--neither did I order. She did return and apologized, as it clearly was a miscommunication issue. By that time I was just annoyed and said forget it--would have been nice if she offered to bring me what I ordered though. I ordered the clam bake dish --lobster tail, crab legs, shrimp, clams and mussels with red skinned potatoes and corn...sounds yummy right??!! Ehhh maybe if I would have gotten the other 3rd of my meal. It came out shrimpless and clamless...I felt bad-- being in the food industry and restaurant world myself I didn't want to cause any stress, and all of these mistakes were clearly due to the whole "beginning stages" of opening. I politely asked if I just read the menu wrong or if it was missing those items. The manager came out with the rest of my meal and apologized, chatted for a few, personal notes are always nice! Shows management cares. I then got into the rest of my meal. ..the potatoes were rock hard and the food honestly just tasted like pure Old Bay seasoning. Then came the bad service again-- my girlfriend wasn't even halfway through her beer before she tried to push another on her--maybe water was more appropriate since we still hadn't received them....then she started clearing plates! AS WE ARE EATING! I looked at my girlfriend and we both were just really confused. Then she came back asked if our check was together or separate and handed us our check....so I guess that meant we are done and don't want dessert? Never in my life as a server would I ever think about asking about the check as people are eating! So rude! Needless to say, maybe it was better that we got out of there while we did! Nothing was comped--they didn't offer anything to us to try to get us back, if anything they sent the message you aren't welcome here and we don't care if you come back.... I think if they spent a little more time and put a little more care into the staff they hired it could have at least helped with the back of the house issues! Great service goes a long way and can be the game changer for any dining experience-- even when the food isn't great! Food-2 Service- 2 Atmosphere- 3

Just checking up on the latest reviews of this place, and you know things have not improved when every other review has a response from their customer service rep that starts with "Thank you for your review of Miller's Columbus Ale House with us. We apologize for the...." FWIW, I never heard back from their corporate office or anyone at the local restaurant about my bad experience, even though I was assured I'd be contacted.

There is a line to get in most hours of the day since it opened. Unless you want to park very far away you need the valet. Everyone is talking about it, and I had to try it. Oh my. This is a wood-enhanced, beer tap extended refacing of the same places we've all suffered through before, like Smokey Bones, Hops, Applebee's and Chili's. If you like mostly fried appetizers followed up by frozen food prepared on a conveyor belt, then Boston's does it MUCH better than any of these places. If you like a heavy selection of hearty hoppy craft beers and ciders with your meal, then this might be the place to go, but I tend to drink something lighter if I"m doing burgers/fajitas/steak type dishes. Appetizers were passable (hard to mess up fried things) but the main meal was cold in places, undercooked (err. . .underheated) and some of the meats that came in our order had the familiar hint of freezer burn in taste. I can sometimes put bunk food aside if you keep my (somewhat pricey) $6 - 12 beers coming quickly, but alas, no. I often ordered 2 or 3 at a time even before our party of 4 was done with their current pint so that we wouldn't wait so long. The sangria was fruit punch sweet, but it came by the carafe and bought us some time between refills. Overall, its a big skip it. At this price, anything else in the immediate area is better.

Decent "applebees" type place..just bigger. No draft list on the table..waitress said they stopped having them and she didn't know why, even though they have 59 taps. She also didn't know what beers they had on tap. Noticed many Xmas seasonal beers and today is 2/8. Maybe 8 of the sixty beers are not boring ABinbev/millercoors brands. Fyi..this does not indicate a good beer list. Had to be a challenge to get that much mediocre beer in one place. You can tell how they paid for that beer tower..."free? Sure I'll put anything on tap you want" That being said the burger was good. Well prepared. Kids enjoyed the activity book and service was pretty good. Considering the proximity to multiple local breweries this place would be well served to get them on tap...4 string, zauber, Columbus etc... Too be fair I may have missed some..remember..No beer list

Went to watch The Bengals play last weekend. Imagine a restaurant where they don't list beer prices. Now imagine yourself ordering a Southern Tier 2X Christmas ale which you just had 2 days ago at Bernards for $6. THEN imagine getting your bill and that same pint of 2X Christmas is $8.95. Eight dollars and ninety-five cents. That single 16oz of beer cost more than an entire burger and fries. Was I transported to NYC when I walked through the door? It blew my (And everyone in my table of 6) mind. Look. if you want to come here to watch Browns games and drink miller lights, this is your 5-star gourmet restaurant. If you have any taste in beer or football, drive the extra 1 mile to Winking Lizard and your wallet will thank you.

Want good comfort food along with a huge draft beer selection, "bend over backwards" service and all at a price that won't even come close to breaking the bank... go to Miller's Ale House! How's this for "bend over backwards" service... Anything on the menu for $4.99? Let me explain.. Stopped in for lunch after 2:00 pm on Thursday 12/20 and the special for lunch was meatloaf along with sides... $4.99. Got to be kidding me a sit down meal with prices like this in 2013? At first I thought, how good can it really be for $4.99? So, I proceeded to ask Jess, the bartender at the back bar who waited on me, for an honest opinion concerning the quality of the meat loaf, as I was prepared to order the prime rib. I know there's not much of a comparison. However, I did have a taste for meatloaf that day as long as it was edible. She assured me that the meatloaf was a very good choice. So, I ordered it. Within a couple minutes, Jess returns from the kitchen to the table and I could tell by the look on her face there was probably not going to be meat loaf today... after all it was almost 2:30 in the afternoon. Sure enough I was right. But no problem, I'll have the prime rib. At the same time I was ordering the prime rib, Mike, the manager came over to the table apologizing over and over again that they sold out of the meat loaf. I totally understood and it's no big deal. He proceeds to allow me and my brother who had placed the same order to get anything we wanted on the menu for the same $4.99 and he would personally make the adjustment. What??? You've got to be kidding? It's completely understandable that your lunch special is gone by 2:30 in the afternoon and you don't have to do this. However, he insisted. So, I ordered the rack of ribs and baked potato and my brother had the chicken parmesan. All I can say is... FABULOUS!!! What a whole new concept... "Bend Over Backwards Service" and treating the customer as if they were the owner of the restaurant or the important review writing food critique, without even asking for it. No question, this will truly be my first choice for sit down restaurants in Columbus! Ron T.

I ate dinner here last night. The place has a nice atmosphere, laid back, large & busy. I had great service & there were tvs everywhere if you want to catch sports. The menu is large & not overly ambitious. I had the buffalo shrimp & clam bake for the entree. The food was okay, however, not amazing. I would rate the food a 3 & service/atmosphere 4. If you don't expect a great meal & happy with a little above average bar food you will be satisfied.

Omg!!! Buy far one of the best places I have ever eaten at! We would always eat at the Miller's Ale House in Orlando Florida-so glad they finally brought one to Ohio, just wish they put it further North! ;) No worries tho-I will gladly drive the 1 1/2 to get some zingers at Miller's!! :) Highly recommend this place to all my family and friends.

I'm pretty bummed because I really wanted to like this place. The environment is great for watching sports - lots of TV's, a fire place. But the service and food were not good. It took the friends I was with about 30 minutes to get their drinks. Our first round of wings were bloody. And I'm pretty sure our waitress was either getting high or drunk throughout her shift. I will not be there again...unless I'm only drinking...at the bar.

Definitely worth it! Love the space and LOVE the bartenders. Best service is sitting at the bar with a private TV viewing experience feel. Gonna rock on here today MARCHMADNESS!

This is exactly the type of place you'd want in Pickerington or Maybe Gahanna, but definitely not Grandview. Grandview has earned it's charm with small businesses and down to earth people who care about community and quality. This place is an overblown Ikea type place. There isn't much separating it from Applebees, Max and Erma's or any other chain. What a disappointment that such a valuable piece of real estate was wasted on Buy N Large. I give it a few stars because it is creating a jobs. The beer is forgettable, the food is boring and the atmosphere is like a frat house. Lame.

Went for happy hour at 4:30 on a Friday. Service was slow. We got potstickers which we all loved. Ordered wings and chicken fingers to go. i really felt like we were rushed to pay tab and get out as soon as we placed carry out orders. Server actually started to clear table of drinks we were not done with. Not cool. Carry out orders were bland-seemed like no seasoning or something? Not worth the money. We (4 of us) go to happy hour every Friday- we will stick with our usual BW3 up the street. Cheaper beer and friendlier wait staff.

Fast and friendly service. Allyson our server was a great sport and the manager gave us a round of drinks. Plenty of TVs perfect for game day.

Not a bad out-parcel or strip center spot. But by today's standards this is NOT a real ale house. As a previous reviewer noted, it's more like an Applebee's.

Wasn't all that impressed by the food. Service was good, but looking at the menu there wasn't anything unique about the food. When I got my steak fajitas I wasn't disappointed but I wasn't amazed either. Other than the service this place was only okay.

Atmosphere and service was excellent! Had the filet steak which was good but a little over cooked. Fries and veggies were great.

The service is slow, the food is okay, and the staff seems to be more interested in learning your name rather than taking your order.

I've been here twice and have had excellent service at the bar. Bartenders introduce themselves as well as have their name on service cards spaced out on the bar.y first visit I had Shrimp scampi which was ok,the best part was the generous amount of shrimp. The second time I'm having the Reuben sandwich and fries. The sandwich was very good, huge amount of meat, perfect amount of sauerkraut and good bread. Fries are regular cut with a nice crispness. The sea salt at the table in a coarse grinder was a perfect addition to the fries. Worth a try. Millers is on Olentangy River Rd.between 3rd and 5th so slow down and don't miss turning in here.

I went with a group this evening. Some people ordered food which looked good. The chicken nachos ($12) are as the menu states "Enormous". The decor was not as schticky as TGI Fridays or others, but had a definite Florida fishing theme (the company is based in Florida). There is a main dining room and bar, as well as outer dining room and bar with fireplace (fully enclosed and heated). There is also an outside seating area with a fire pit and fireplace. Lots of TV, I'm sure that this will be a popular place for game days. I was mostly interested in the beer, and as it is called Miller's ALEhouse, I had expectations. The selection was decent, there were no blantant MBC beers, but instead their craft versions (Shocktop, Bluemoon, Batch 19, 3rd shift). I don't have any issue with that, except for people who think they are supporting a craft brewery are throwing in their money with budweiser, coors and miller. There are some local and regional selections (CBC IPA, great lakes christmas, thirsty dog, etc.) My major gripe, and hopefully this will be addressed shortly is the lack of knowledge with the beers. The chalkboard was incomplete (maybe some new kegs were tapped and hadn't been added) but the "cheat sheet" that the waitress had was very incomplete and was the only thing that showed any prices (nothing less than $6 a pint!) Some interesting finds on the chalkboard: Stone Cali Belique (should be Stone Cali Belgique) Trogues Mad Elf (Troegs) Ballast Point Skulpkin (Sculpin) Thirsty Dog 12 Days of Christmas (12 dogs...) I asked about the "Skulpkin" wondering if it were different from the Sculpin (which I could see the tap handle for) and was told by the man at the bar that yes, it was different "I think it has higher ABV... 8%" I asked, thinking it may have been a pumpkin version of the sculpin based on the spelling, and he confirmed my suggestion. (There is no such thing as Skulpkin - it was actually Sculpin). All of this shenanigans aside, and despite the high price of pints ($6 and up), they offer a good deal on a sampler. 5 6oz pours (30oz total) for $9. This appears to be true regardless of the beers selected. So I had a nice christmas sampler with GL christmas, Southern Tier 2XMAS, Troegs Mad Elf (spelled Trouge on the sampler tray), Thirsty Dog 12 dogs of Christmas, and Victory Golden Monkey (they only had the 4 christmas beers). I would be OK visiting again, but I don't see myself getting anything other than the sampler to drink. My suggestion would be to take a moment to train your bartenders and servers on what you are serving and let them try it (waitress said they weren't allowed to) so that they actually know what is going on.

Visited Miller's for the first time last Saturday night. We were with a visiting sports team and they chose this restaurant due to its ability to handle a large group. The place is huge! I had no idea what to expect. We were seated toward the back, which worked fine. It was NFL playoff night so lots of people, energetic and loud crowd. Our servers were excellent. Mike and I think Jennifer. Great attitudes, attentive, no complaints there. They kept the drinks coming. I ordered an appetizer right away, and it came promptly. (Potstickers, standard fare.). We ordered our meals, which then took WAY too long, approximately one hour. Hey, I know you are busy but come on! I had the mahi daily special, good flavor but a bit dry and could have been warmer. Not sure I will return, as sports bars aren't really my thing, but if I do it will be because of the service.

Just tried Miller's tonight and it was awesome! Great crowd and great vibe. The staff was really friendly and competent (which was impressive considering that they just opened). The food was awesome! We had the zingers (garlic), which were really really good! We tried the seafood mac & cheese and a French dip sandwich, both really good. We will definitely be going back again!

Not sure why there are so many bad reviews on this place! My hubby went to college in Florida and raved about them so when they came to Columbus we had to go. On a friday afternoon it was packed--we were still seated right away, and had a great server--even with two small children with us who were visiting. Food was awesome--huge portions--keep this in mind--not a place to go to if you want to eat light! :)

Definitely nothing impressive on the beer front. Service was good and food was your typical Applebee's type fare. Great for a game!

I was excited to try this place out for my birthday. We went on a Sunday around 5:30 for dinner. Initially the server took forever to get to our table. We ordered the filet mignon since we were in the mood for steak. When they came out, the looked like a dry over cooked hamburger instead of a medium cooked steak. Neither had any pink and whoever cooked it had clearly never cooked any steak before. We requested they be recooked and the server was friendly and agreed they were way over cooked. The manager on duty brought out the second set of steaks. These were so far rare that I assume it had to be intentional. The manager didn't apologize once and his cocky attitude made it appear it was our fault we had the food recooked. We had to eat around the center and could only eat about half of the filet because it was so far undercooked. When the waitress came by, she immediately saw the steaks and said "wow those are too rare aren't they?" We agreed but had already waited nearly 45 minutes to eat and didn't have time to wait again. She brought the check back and stated she requested her manager to comp the steaks but he declined and said he wasn't doing it. We paid $20 each for steaks that we couldn't eat. I emailed corporate, but never received a response. It was a terrible experience, and we won't be going back!

The wait was way too long. The staff was snobbish (I can't figure out why) and slow. The food was marginal. I'd rather go to a fast food joint rather than eat another low quality $10 burger here. I would never go back.

This was my 2nd visit. Everything was great on my first visit - great food & great service. Today's lunch was different. Dined with 3 others. One ordered chicken with red potatoes and green beans but was served broccoli. Server did bring green beans. One ordered a Big Red with sweet potato fries but was served regular fries. Twice asked for sweet potato fries and they never arrived. When bill came, server took off price of sweet potato fries even though none of regular fries had been eaten. No offer to substitute another side or comp for side not eaten. Will think twice about going back.

First visit was on Friday (8/1). Were there with a large group - the place is perfect for a large group. Our server was very nice and attentive. Killer Seafood Mac & Cheese. My husband had the Twin Lobster Tails. They were good and a good price. It comes with a baked potato and a veg side (brocolli). Kitchen "forgot" to put the vegetable on the plate. By the time they brought the veg out my husband was almost done eating. Each person that ordered a beer the server informed they were out of that brand. Took a couple of rounds to find one they had in stock. My husband and I returned on Monday (8/4). Again my husband ordered the twin lobster tails... AGAIN the kitchen "forgot" the vegetable. It came out quicker this time. But the kitchen needs to pay attention to what they are plating to make sure you actually get all of your food. Servers should be aware of this too! Our server this time was not very attentive. Once she dropped the food off we never saw her again until she brought the check. Not once did she come back to see if we wanted anything else to drink or ask if everything was OK. Oh... and my husband ordered a beer... they were out of it. I want to like this place...it's close to home and so far the food has been good. No place is perfect, but I'm sensing a pattern here. We'll try it again though. PS... if you do go... try the Seafood Mac & Cheese. It really IS good.

I am a big fan of the 535 ale house in Orlando so of course I had to try the columbus version. To those who are the uninitiated ..go for their dinner our lunch specials very good food for a low, low price. The central Ohio version is a very good copy of the Florida versions..it seemed brighter and more open but you could tell you were in an ale house. Beer selection is good with an emphasis on brand names when it comes to specials. The food is good bar + food. The zinger mountain melt is a good bet and the steaks are decent. As for the specials Mondays rack of ribs and Thursdays meatloaf are excellent.

Anyone who thinks this place is overpriced is a cheap a$$! Great beer specials and good food for the price. I got the jambalaya which had a ton of meat (I had more meat leftover than rice) for $12. The atmosphere is great and the place is huge. Will be back!

  • Tom B.

O.K. beer selection. They have 50 taps with some decent beers, but nothing really exciting. Menu is pretty much the same. Problem is - they're right next door to Columbus Fish Market. They can't be expected to compete with that!

Boring beer selection. Huge menu...but nothing you won't find at Friday's or Max & Erma's. Nothing special. Been there, done that.

Food was terrible, server was a mess. Will not be returning. We stared with nachos, which was a plate of chips with little toppings. I got the chicken parm and it was so burnt I couldn't eat it. Our server mentioned being hungover and looked it. I also can't believe they let the staff eat in front of guests! Gross!

My girlfriend & I visited this location for the first time on Friday, Apr. 11. We were initially taken by the overall size of the place and the beautiful décor. We decided to sit in the rear portion next to the outside patio. Our server was very attentive and polite. The menu has about anything and everything a person could want. We were both thrilled with our selections - a tuna melt with sweet potato fries (the dipping sauce for the fries is THE best and very addictive), French onion soup (watch out M&E's!), big, meaty chicken wings, and ultimately, the Buried Treasure dessert, which we shared. Good thing, too, since it is huge! Everything was delicious! We're excited to return with more of our friends and maybe spend some time on the beautiful patio.

So unfortunately my first experience at Miller's was a nightmare and a week later I am still living it. I was in with a friend for the MNF game. I only was having drinks? My friend however was ordering food also. Several rounds later and after the game had ended we ended up closing out the bar. I had used my check card to pay for my tab. The following day I saw that the food my friend had ordered was incorrectly put on my bill and was really no big deal, the real issue was when I checked my bank statement I was also incorrectly charged twice for the exact same bill. The charges were for the exact same amount. I contacted the store and I spoke with the manager and he asked me if the charges were still pending which they were. He told me that one of the charges should drop off once they actually posted and to contact him and he would take care of it if they did not. A few days later I checked and both charges posted. When I contacted the manager he told me that I would need to bring in a full copy of my bank statement before the charges could be re funded. Not sure why he needed to see my bank statement but never had to go through this experience ever before and was wondering if he was also going to ask for my tax statements. They should have noticed they were charging just one person for almost $50 worth of alcohol....A bit suspicious. Shame because I actually liked the atmosphere there but not sure if this is just part of the full experience if so they can go back to Florida. Only advice I have is pay in cash and check your receipts carefully.

I couldn't wait for this place to open up and I was not disappointed (aside from the fact that they don't sell Conch Fritters). The Zingers were really good, and my wife really enjoyed her burger. Lots of tvs and really good service. I can't wait to go back.

I've now eaten there 5 times since shortly after Christmas ('13). Comments: (1) The osso buco is superb! The ribs (Monday night special) are better than average; but, they require sauce with them. The "Zingers" appetizers (with fries) are excellent and extremely filling. Unless you're a competitive eater, the Zingers plus an entree will probably be too much for you. Last night I tried the "ALE HOUSE COMBO" (Potato Skins, Fried Mushrooms, Fried Mozzarella and Spinach Dip. Served with Tri-Colored Tortilla Chips. $11.99). It sounded good but it was very disappointing. The potato skins were either over-cooker/broiled or had been left under a warmer for a long time. They were dry and tasteless. The spinach dip was warm and flavorful because of the garlic in it. The fried mozzarella was barely warm. (2) I've enjoyed their selection of beers; but, I'm frustrated that their is only one menu of their IPAs at each table. There are 4-6 menus but only one IPA list. If you go with a party of 3 or more, and you're all interested in an IPA, it will take an inordinate amount of time to order it, as everyone has to pass around the same list. I've mentioned this each time I've been there and feel patronized when I get the same response: "That's a good idea!" (3) The servers "Stella" and "Matt F" are superb and should be cloned! My experience with other servers, so far there, is that they're the type who return, following the "two-minute rule" and ask "How is everything?" without noticing that you haven't eaten anything yet! (4) I'll continue to return a few more times. I like the atmosphere. Even when the restaurant is full, it is still easy to carry on a conversation without any noticeable din from the crowd. There are several other items on the menu that I hope to try. (5) An excellent offering is a sampler tray (composed of any of their beers...draft, bottle, etc.) with five 6-oz. beers of your choice for &8.99. A great option if one is interesting in trying beers one hasn't tasted.

Miller's Ale House has a large selection of domestic, craft, and local beers on tap. That's where my interest stopped. It took me two attempts with the obviously new server to get a beer list. Beer list is not on every table or next to every menu, so unless you feel like getting up and walking around the bar interpreting the tap heads you don't know what they have. She returned the third time with the menu and there were about 15 items marked as seasonal, which made me sigh, as I could tell already that asking the server would be futile, so I ordered a clearly marked local IPA. She returned (fourth time) saying that they were in between seasonals and the beer I ordered was not available (though it was a local IPA...grrrrrrrr). Frustrated, I asked her to tell me the seasonals and she quickly responded that she was not real familiar with the seasonals, but she could ask. She came back the fifth time and had only memorized two of them (of the roughly 15 odd breweries), not that I had expected her to remember 7 of them, but only two? I ordered one I was familiar with, but the beer I received was clearly not the right order, but it was her sixth trip back to my table, so I wasn't about to argue. One her seventh trip, I finally got to order food, an appetizer and an entree. She asked if I would like my appetizer (nachos) before my entree (sandwich), to which I replied, yes. 20 minutes later, my sandwich arrived. 21 minutes later, my sandwich arrived. It's a little difficult to enjoy a hot sandwich and fries, when your nachos arrive one minute later. All the while the server was still bubbly and kind though!

I went here on my birthday hoping for a good meal. It was the first time me and my husband visited this place and we came early hoping to leave early. The waitress was nice but pushed us on the drinks even though she had no knowledge of what was in them. Took about 10 min to get our drinks. Then we waited 25 min for our food. My steak was so overcooked that I couldn't chew it so I had them make me another medium rare like I ordered in the first place. Another 15 min passed and I was so hungry waiting that I finished my fries. When the steak came it was good and they told us there would be no charge. But when the bill came oh no they had charged us for the mistake. The waitress apologized and went to fix it and disappeared again. We waited and waited... thinking when are we going to get out of here? 15 min passed and she came back with the right balance. Never spent so much time inside a restaurant...Good thing is they gave us a discount coupon for the inconvenience but I'm afraid we won't go back again.

Very disappointed. I came within the first few weeks of the opening and ordered a side salad along with my entree. Buried in the side salad was an entire plastic glove. Completely disgusting. We told the waitress what happened and the manager of the restaurant came out to talk to the table. They then offered two free drinks for the mistake, of course only amounting to a few dollars for the bud lights we were drinking. We had to pay complete price for the entrees. The manager knew that we live in Grandview and that we go out multiple times throughout the week. This would have been a frequent spot if they would have properly handled the situation. Instead, I have told multiple people about the poor experience and service, who have also told multiple people not to go to this restaurant. If they would have simply refunded the meals or cared more about the obvious mistake they made I would not have complained. However the lack of service received is disappointing and we, along with many friends and neighbors, will not be returning/going.
