I start this off by stating that I rarely complain to restaurants. I understand that sometimes circumstances make for a less than perfect experience. Usually, I hope to see it as a "one off" type of event, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. I will also say that the food quality itself overall was good. It is more a general feeling that one gets while here. Although I have been to this location a number of times, my last experience was so frustrating that I don't know that I wish to return. I ordered the Panko Shrimp Combo (with fries and a drink), and a popcorn shrimp snack side. The young man who greeted me was very pleasant. He took my order efficiently, even calling out "Panko Shrimp, Popcorn Shrimp Snack" during the ordering process to give the kitchen crew a heads up. There were two tables ahead of me inside waiting on food, and perhaps two cars in the drive-thru at that time. I paid (according to my receipt) at 6:17. The young man gave me my change and said "It will be two or three minutes for the Panko Shrimp". I collected my cup, and staked out a seat. When I went to get my plastic ware and sauces, I found the condiment station to be unkempt, and sloppy. Of the three sauces, only the cocktail sauce pumped any sauce. The tarter sauce and ketchup were empty. This was mentioned twice to the employees as I stood there. The containers were not refilled during the entire 40 minutes I was there. The wait time for all involved was extremely long for this type of venue, even if everything was "made to order". However I could see that much of the orders were pulled out of the warmers, such as the fries, the hush puppies, etc. As I stood and waited (and waited, remember, I was told two or three minutes), I observed the following: A customer who had gone through the drive-thru came into the store to exchange an item as he was given the wrong thing (the manager stated loudly enough to be heard how the customer was at fault, and had been given what he asked for); a "To-go" order that was missing an order of fries; and a dine-in diner who pointed out (as the manager read off from the screen and pointed at the items), that one of the items served was wrong. She had to stand and wait while the correct item was brought out. She then asked for an extra plate (they had ordered three entrees to split between two adults and two children). When the manager got the plate, it was greasy. It was apparent that it had been previously used. Not likely to a customer, but on a previous order they had changed and removed food from. I noticed that very little was happening in the fryers, and also noted that the floor was pretty filthy in the kitchen. I had stood there for 10 minutes, watching the crew work, when I saw that they finally got around to starting my meal. I saw the manager look at the screen and call for the Panko Shrimp. That was finished when he noticed that there was a popcorn shrimp in the order, too, and asked for one of those to be dropped. I finally got my order at 6:33, some 16 minutes after paying, I asked the manager who pushed my order to me for the Thai-Chili sauce I had ordered (it was on the receipt, I noted it was missing). He called back to another employee and asked "Do we have any more Thai-Chili?". After a minute I was told "Sorry, we're out". "One of the main reasons I came in" I said. "Sorry", I was told. As I stated earlier, other than that I found the portion of popcorn shrimp to be pretty skimpy, the food was pretty good. The Panko shrimp was a little undercooked (hurrying to get the order out?), but overall the meal was tasty. The panko was excellent. As this is shared with A&W, I must say their root beer is as good as it gets, and it brings back to me some wonderful childhood memories every time I have it. The part that was most disturbing, was the condition of the restaurant. The ice cream machine was filthy, having caked on grime on the back; the drink machine was covered in sticky syrup residue, and the booths are in awful shape. The vinyl on the seats are split, worn, and covered in tape. It is not an appealing environment in which to eat. I heard comments about the condition from almost every dine-in customer around me. One young lady of perhaps eight or nine had to switch places with her father as the split vinyl seat was scratching her legs, since she was wearing shorts. As an odd side note: When my order came out at 6:33, the big illuminated neon A&W clock on the wall read 5:47. It is off by 46 minutes for some reason. Eat at Long John Silver's again? Definitely. At this location? Probably not.
