Having just returned to Columbus from living in Indianapolis Eddie's is just the same...perfect. Great service, food prepared perfectly, great cocktails, and wonderful atmosphere. I only write this because if you want to go somewhere special and know that you will be treated as such this is the place. Thanks again for a wonderful evening.

They take reservations for the lounge. Might be good to publish that somewhere. I guess when you make a reservation you have to specifically request it? It has a different, more casual menu that we were looking for. We were notified that reservations were needed for the lounge by a very snobby hostess who made us feel unwelcomed from the moment we walked through the door. Smile, lady! It's your job! We were seated in the main area and were able to order from the lounge menu. Our party of 4 started with the filet pot stickers and they were good. Not amazing, but good. Three in our group got the Wagyu burgers and sliders and two up'd there sides to fries, which was $2 extra according to the menu. They all loved their burgers and said the fries were good. I ordered the short ribs from the main menu. What a disappointment. It was texturally mushy and tasted like a poorly cooked pot roast. It was surrounded by a huge portion of mashed potatoes, which normally would make me happy, but as with the ribs, they were completely under seasoned. I ate a little less than half of it and was done. The server, who was a very quirky man, offered to box it up and I declined. A few minutes later the manager approached me and apologized for the short ribs not being prepared or cooked properly.....which I had not mentioned to anyone at that point. he told me they were not prepared properly that day and they had already taken it off of the bill. Class act, finally!!!! I think their prices are WAY out of line. I will pay top dollar for a great meal, this just wasn't worth it. There are a few other steakhouses in C'bus that way out shine this at similar or less price points. The staff here, while efficient and professional, are just really snobby and didn't make us feel welcomed. No matter how high class a restaurant tries to be, if the customer doesn't feel important there's always other places that will do so.....we almost walked out before ordering our app because of the attitudes. Oh, and that $2 up charge for the fries? Our server tried charging us $9 because he voluntarily brought them a basket of fries to share instead. That's not cool at all!

For a first time dining experience this easily was one of the best. A new favorite for our family ! We celebrated a birthday at our table and everyone, from hostesses to the manager who tabled touched, made sure to wish my other half a happy birthday which really made him feel special. The food. Oh my gosh it was delicious. The filet was incredible.. Cooked to perfection (I added the blue cheese/bacon combo which I highly recommend) my parents got their cuts Oscar style, a fantastic recommendation by our server, Keri. (She was amazing by the way. Very knowledgeable about the menu for first time diners and very charismatic) We even were convinced by Keri to join the Eddie Merlot reward card program.. So it looks like you will be seeing more of us! Thank you for making this evening so special and memorable for my boyfriend and our family. It all around was a lovely experience :)

The food and atmosphere are good.. but neither are good enough to justify the prices. Good if you want to impress a date or client... But if you want food worth those prices then better options abound.

Eddie Merlot's is a prime steakhouse next to the Polaris Mall. I've dined here on several occasions in the past, but my most recent experience was for a work related dinner earlier this month. Compared to the other steakhouses in town, the thing that really sets Eddie Merlot's apart in my opinion is the interior of the restaurant. It's spacious, airy, elegantly decorated, and is lit very well. Most steakhouses are super dark and almost dingy at times, so kudos to the way Eddie Merlot's decorates the interior. Their steaks are good... but I'm not sure if they're necessarily worth the price premium. I've had their filet mignon and their prime NY strip, and wasn't exactly blown away. They're generally seasoned well and cooked well, but I've just never been wowed. Add that to the fact that on my most recent trip, they gave me a filet mignon cooked to medium well when I ordered it medium rare... and you might see why I'm apathetic about their steaks. I've never had their Greg Normal signature wagyu steaks, but I'm not sure if I should pay $80~$100 for a single steak meal just because the cattle is genetically Japanese wagyu and a retired Australian golfer attached his name to it. Finally, I should touch upon the service here. By most restaurant standards, the service here is ok. But since we're talking about prime steakhouse service, Eddie Merlot's needs to step it up a notch. On our last outing here, it took my colleague 20 minutes to get his drink order in. He arrived late, so everyone else at the table had already gotten their drinks... but our server simply would not make eye contact with us for us to wave him over for that one extra drink order! In the end we had to grab a different server to place our drink order. So overall, not a bad steakhouse, but also not a great steakhouse. For what it's worth though, they are the better of the two prime steakhouses in the Polaris area (Mitchell's steakhouse is not good in my opinion). So if you need steak while at Polaris, go to Eddie Merlot's. If you're willing to go elsewhere in Columbus, I think there are better options.

Went for Easter brunch and oh my was it some kind of tasty! Compared to a dinner here with almost any kind of steak, the brunch wasn't as hard on the wallet. Adults were $39.95 which included goodies like a killer fritatta, smoked salmon, mac n cheese, sweet potato casserole, bacon, sausage, salads, veggies, carving station with ham and beef, their oh so tasty meatloaf...and deserts. Non-alcoholic drinks were included in the price but I had to have a mimosa for $9. My only gripes were that you had to order an omelet from your table and they would bring it out to you, the price of the mimosa, and the service wasn't as top notched as for dinner because it was so busy plus it was a buffet. We figured out how to eat "cheaper" here by ordering things that aren't steak (some might argue why go then but WTH) but the next time they offer a brunch I think we will be right there!

Food is simply delicious. Service is of extremely high quality. Atmosphere is nice too. I recommend the calamari to start. I am a huge scallop fan and theirs was heaven in my mouth. My dad got the lobster tails that they personally de shelled for him. Nice touch. When ordering apps be a are that they are shareable.

The bourbon marinated ribeye steak, try it for God's sake. Try it!! Nice caramelization on the outside and tender on the inside. Portion was kinda huge at 16oz, and after a couple of bites, I was full and let not forget there was this huge sides with that too (get the sweet potato). But they were excellent. That being said, our dinner was splendid. Came here Sunday night and wine was half off. Ordered the shrimp cocktail, but they were out of the dry ice so it came out as a four piece of boring shrimp being served on a plain plate. The taste was great though. The escargot was creamy and delicious. The calamari has a nice texture and was not overly oily and really delicious too. Too full for dessert although would love to try the flaming thing they have. Coffee was outrageously expensive at $10.

This past Saturday we went to Eddie Merlot's for the girlfriend's birthday dinner, and it was nice, because I haven't had the chance to go to a nice, upscale restaurant in awhile. The space inside is pretty nice, and the hostess' were very gracious and seated us promptly, as I'd expect at a restaurant of this sort. Our server was very friendly and helpful as well. This place is known mainly for their wine selection, but I'm not much of a wine drinker, and the beer selection is pretty much limited to a few bottles of Great Lakes (I guess it could be worse). We started off with a 6-piece Charcuterie and cheese plate, and it was fantastic. The pig and fig, and the duck prosciotto were so tasty. They brought out their house bread as well, and we really loved that. Next came our salads; I had the chopped salad, and the girlfriend had the Caesar. Mine was very good, but she said hers was just OK. We decided on splitting the Wagyu Tomahawk Ribeye, and it was definitely a great cut of meat, and it was cooked perfectly, but I don't know if it was worth the price on it. For the size alone, maybe, but for that premium cut of steak, I've definitely had higher end steaks with a better taste. We definitely enjoyed it, but I just think they could do better for the price tag. The mashed potatoes that we ordered with it were infused with garlic and delicious. By the time we were done with the steak, there really was no room for dessert. One of the managers had come by earlier to ask if we were out for a special occasion, and I told him that it was my girlfriend's birthday, so they actually sent us home with a little chocolate cake dessert on-the-house. That was pretty nice, and the server actually packed us up an extra loaf of their bread as well. Great service. I'd definitely return again, if I can fit it into the budget, but I think I'd definitely try a different steak the next time around.

Overrated and disappointing. Food is just ok and definitely not worth the price. Also the service is shockingly slow no matter when you come. I think this place only exists to serve the large amounts of business travelers in the area, because locals no it isn't any good at this price level.

Haven't been here to eat in two years decided it was time for a revisit to celebrate my husbands certification. We ordered drinks mine a pomegranate martini and my hubby got a Stoli up on the rocks with bleu cheese stuffed olives. We ordered the smoking shrimp cocktail and I really like their horseradish in their cocktail sauce and the shrimp were nice and fresh. We both ordered the bison filet and shared the lobster mac and cheese. His filet was cooked perfectly but mine was ordered medium and was rare ewww. They took it and cooked it longer and it was much better. Now we love lobster mac as we've had awesome ones at Ocean Club and Hyde Park and we were very disappointed in the amount of lobster for the price...however we had very good service from Brett. My mother and son also joined us and both of their steaks were undercooked. Our server brought out new sides and my Moms cauliflower gratin was really good. Kudos for doing this as I've never had a problem before with my steaks. We will be back I just think this was a blip for the back of the house tonight but I won't get the Mac again.

This place is obviously on the pricey side- it is a steak house. It is definitely worth every penny!! I highly recommend the smokin' shrimp cocktail, it is yummy and really fun with the dry ice (I'm assuming)! They even do a complimentary cupcake for birthdays so don't be shy.. It was delicious!

For a fine dining restaurant, our dining experience was not what it should have been. Our meal felt rushed from the minute we were seated and our waiter barely said five words to us. The restaurant was pretty full at the beginning of our meal so we felt bad for our waiter as it seemed he was over extended. He asked if we wanted bread while we waited for our salads and we replied yes but never received any. By the time we saw our waiter again, we had already been served our steaks and no longer wanted the bread. The same thing happened with our drinks- we would have considered another round but by the time our waiter asked if we wanted another, we already finished our entrees and no longer wanted one. Even if our waiter was extremely busy, he was not apologetic or professional in any way. Overall the food was still good but the ambiance and fine dining experience was very disappointing for the evening we looked forward to.

Wonderful experience! This restaurant is top notch and the food was divine. Definitely worth the money. Both myself and other half choose seafood entrees and they were delicious. We will surely return to try the steaks. Staff was very pleasant and on their game, so refreshing in this age of non-customer service. Highly recommended!

Have been here several times and always good food.My kids love the Mac/cheese. My wife likes here steak MW and we have had a few steaks that needed to be sent back.Mine are always good and the seafood choices are good. It is pricey but worth it. You need to go into Columbus is you want a higher end steakhouse.

So supremely irritated with the experience that I had at Eddie Merlots... and I didn't even EAT there! My boyfriend and I walked in on a Friday evening, trying to get a table for 2 for a last-minute date night. Yes, we should have had a reservation, but it was one of those whims of "let's try some place new, and P.S. we're hungry like right now." The hostess told us that there was a 45 minute wait (fair enough), but that the bar area was open seating and we were welcome to try and grab a table in there. So we sauntered over to said bar area. The bar itself was packed. There happened to be a nice, 2-sseater in the corner that was open so we snagged it, chuckling at our good fortune. Then, the bartender came over and said that the tables were sometimes reserved and he had to check with the hostess. Sure enough, the hostess told him that there was a reservation at that table and they were obligated to hold it for 30 minutes before releasing. So much for "open seating in the bar area"! We promptly left and enjoyed a delish steak dinner at Mitchell's Steakhouse (where we were seated immediately in spite of no reservation). And we shall never return to the land of Eddie Merlots. Idiots.

After our last meal, I sent the following letter via US Mail to the management. I wasn't looking for anything other than an apology or an explanation. I'm very disappointed that my letter was ignored. --snip-- Dear Sir or Madam: I'm writing to you about our meal at your restaurant on the evening of Sunday, May 11, 2014. My family dined on at your restaurant for Mother's Day. The food was excellent as was the service by, Blake. I would, however, like to bring one matter to your attention. The actions by other guests in your restaurant was simply ridiculous and completely inappropriate for an establishment like Eddie Merlot's. A very large party (of approximately 14 guests) was seated directly next to us. Their numerous children were constantly out of their seats, running around, disturbing us, and causing distraction to numerous other guests. Had I not known better, I would have expected them to be in a gymnasium. Their actions caused a great disruption to our meal and I am very disappointed with the inaction of Eddie Merlot's management in this matter. While the quality of food is certainly a factor in our decision to dine out, the service, and atmosphere do play their part. We will be hard pressed to return to Eddie Merlot's provided that this behavior is being tolerated by management. I urge you to reconsider the patrons and behavior that is welcome at your establishment. Thank you, --snip-- I'm only writing this now because I've received a junk email reminding me to make my valentine's day reservation at Eddie Merlots... No thanks.

Very tacky looking restaurant, looks like it is lost in the 80s. Loud , yet has no atmosphere. We had two wait staff - one was surly at best literally stabbed our loaf with the knife at the table like she was killing it and we were glad to see her go, the other was very friendly but clueless on service and wines. A $100 bottle was served like cheap plonk. Food - my chops were cremated (i asked for medium rare) when sent back took 30 minutes to get; the lobster macaroni may have had a small piece of lobster; the brocoli (steamed) was so smoothered in butter it was indedible. Very expensive and not much better than an olive garden.

Fourth time not a charm. My husband insisted on another try taking our 11 year old out for crab legs - graduation celebration. I was not happy with selection because of previous visits I feel the food is over priced. But, he wanted the smoking shrimp cocktail for grandson. We were seated promptly, the server was very nice. Shrimp cocktail in $18.00 For 4 just not very good shrimp and NOT SMOKING . What happened? No dry ice delivery. Didn't kitchen check this when they opened? Shouldn't you have shared this with me when I ordered? 1 lb of King Crab Legs $64.00 they weren't very Kingly, 4 so, so pcs. I ordered a medium 7 oz. filet - came out rare. Sent back, the manager brings another to me asks me to cut it before he leaves it. Raw - where is Chef Ramsey? I now don't want anything. I also had ordered peppercorn sauce for the steak $4.00 additional it was a thick greasy, spicy yucky sauce. Oh , yes this restaurant doesn't clarify their butter. They put 2 balls of butter in a little cup over a flame . The butter was still not melted by the time crab legs came out. Husband asked for clarified butter they brought some out. No cheese cloth over the lemon for shrimp cocktail. Manager came over said he took shrimp and steak off check. When the server brought the ck . I asked him to please remove the sauce I ordered for the steak and remove the sweet potatoe side I ordered to accompany my steak. Chef was very nice he came out to apologize please ask for him when I come back. Thank you no thank you. Four times not a charm!

This place is overrated to the highest level. Potatoes were runny and under cooked. Steaks very over salted- and I am a person who enjoys a quite a bit of salt on every entree. The only thing saving this place from 1 star was the decent service. If you want a good steakhouse in Columbus, find Hyde Park or Mitchell's Downtown.

This place needs a more significant spot on the radar. We have eaten here several times and find it to be as good as any other top-tier steakhouse in town. Great bar area and top-notch bartenders.

I didn't eat dinner here but came in the evening to it at the bar. For some reason I was under the impression this wasn't as nice as it is. I had a gin and tonic, an old fashioned, a glass of wine and split their acre sized flaming cognac brownie.the bartender heard us discussing who wanted some and attractively laid out half a dozen plates and divided it up without being asked which I thought was very nice considering that is the sort of thing I know servers hate. The guy next to me had the surf and turf and it looked amazing. I will definitely keep this on my list for a nice dinner sometime.

Took the boyfriend's daughter here for one of her fancy dinners recently, after buying two $50 gift cards at Costco for $75. We'd never tried Eddie Merlot's and figured a discount was a good enough reason. We ate pretty early on a Saturday, and the owner greeted us at the door and paid lots of attention to our 9-year-old, who was dressed up for the occasion. He seated us at one of the super comfortable tables in the bar area. After eating and having some wine, I could've easily fallen asleep in the chair. Service was otherwise attentive and polite and everyone enjoyed their steaks. I had the filet trio with three sauces, it was fun to try those. Boyfriend LOVED the bourbon marinated ribeye - I tasted it and plan to order it in the future. One of the desserts is a vanilla cognac brownie; the waiter brings out everything to the table and covers it whatever toppings you choose, then flambes the cognac as it drizzles down onto the brownie. Not something we'd normally go for but the young lady thought it was the coolest thing ever, of course. All in all a good time. We'll go back sometime on another special occasion, we just have other places we like that are closer to home.

I am writing this review solely on the food! The service here was IMPECCABLE. I loved that every staff member seemed to be happy and knowledgeable about the menu. As far as my meal goes, I got the Roasted Bell & Evans Chicken. I was really disappointed with how bland the chicken breast was. I was looking forward to a nice flavorful glaze. Instead it tasted like the sauce was just an afterthought. There was a decent amount of chicken for the price. It wasn't the worst chicken I have had, but it was definitely forgettable. I will have to go back and try something different off the menu.

My spouse and I had a dinner at this location last evening. Our waitress was wonderful. However, there was a screaming 3 month old our entire dinner and the manager never mentioned a word to the family. My spouse and I have a 9 month old and found a babysitter so we could enjoy an adult dinner. I can listen to a screaming child at home during dinner for a fraction of the cost. I ordered the boneless ribeye and have to say it was one of the worst I've ever had. It had tendon completely through it and was extremely tough. Definitely better steak houses in Columbus!

It is a prime steakhouse, but since I have been many times to other comparable ones: Ruth's Chris and Morton's, I would still think that they are better than Eddie Merlot's. The reason for my rating is because Eddie uses some spices I do not like on everything (including the bread). It is not a terrible steakhouse, do not get me wrong, however for my taste and within the same quality and price range I would still prefer going to Morton's. One thing I really liked about this restaurant was the banana dessert which they prepare table side flambed in cognac.

Went here for a graduation celebration with family. It was my first time here & I loved it. We were in the private party room. The two waiters were very good & friendly. They did great for a party of 15. My aunt designed the menu for the party. We had a few appetizers on it. The shrimp & bruschetta were my favorite. Then we had the option to pick French onion soup, a salad and some kind of beet salad. I got the french onion soup and it was the best I've ever had. The broth had a great flavor. Other people in the party said the beet salad was excellent. For the main dish I got the ribeye with a peppercorn sauce. It was good but the meat was a little under cooked than I had requested. Almost looked raw. My cousin ordered hers the same way as me and it didn't look nothing like mine so I had them cook it a little bit longer. Also had the loaded baked potato and some kind of cheesy cauliflower as sides. I highly recommend both of them. The potato was HUGE! Very good. Although at this point I was full and couldn't eat much of it so I got a box. We also had a few different desserts to choose from for our party. I got the strawberry cheesecake. It was good. Big slice and had strawberries and raspberries on the side. The mixed drinks were pricey about 12$ & really strong. I liked the cherry orchard and pink greyhound. I would definitely come here again.

I proposed to my (now) fiance at Eddie Merlot's. Their staff went above and beyond to make sure the night was perfect. I wrote a poem to put in her menu and they printed it on cardstock, put it inside exactly how I'd want, and made sure everything went perfectly. Ryan and Jesica were super helpful and easy to work with. I'll never forget stopping in the day before to finalize plans and Ryan, who hadn't even been there when Jesica and I made the plans, walked through the plan perfectly without looking anything up, talking to anybody, or anything. He genuinely cared about our dinner and making things wonderful. Our waitress Cynthia, the host staff, and everybody else working that night was great as well. Eddie Merlot's has always been a great restaurant for Kali and I, but now holds an extra special place in our hearts. I can't wait to go back again soon!

Wow! What a treat. We got gift cards to here as an anniversary gift. Otherwise we probably wouldn't go somewhere so pricey. But everything about this restaurant is first class. From the valet / doorman, beautifully decorated interior, thick table cloths and napkins, etc. The menu had some interesting choices, but I went with a simple appetizer. My wife got a steak. She said it was the best she has ever had. I took a few bites... and agreed. I got a spare rib and scallops dish. I savored every bite. We also shared a side of mac and cheese. It was $10 which seemed like a lot. But there was a huge bowl of it and it was expertly 'laced' with an assortment of very fine cheeses. So, great menu, great wine and cocktail menu, and if you left room (we didn't), a dessert menu too! I noticed there were some issues with the service from other reviewers. We thought the service was great. But I did hear one of the servers mention that they had all new management. So if you liked the food and not the service you should give them another shot!

Friday night dinner dinner at Eddie Merlot's was akin to having a front row seat at a Jersey Shore episode. There was some sort of high school dinner party going on in one of the private rooms in the back and I swear Snookie herself passed our table with her sprayed on tanned posse four times as they headed back and forth to the restrooms. Now with that prelude written, the rest of the atmosphere was lively and upbeat but not so overbearing that you could not have a good conversation with your dinner mates. After being seated the manager greeted us and took our drink order after going over the wine list. This is one of the few restaurants where the managers make the rounds to ensure their customers are being well taken care of and that the service is up to par. Our server was excellent. She was efficient and professional. Now on to the food. I started with the barbecue shrimp. They were very tangy and cooked just right. The iceberg salad with blue cheese was okay, not the top five that I have had, however the main course soon put that in the past. The steak Diane was cooked just right, was tender and sauced with just the right amount. It was not drowning and it was not dry, it was just right. Overall it was a good dinner and I will be back again. The service is top notch and you defiantly get the feeling that your business is appreciated.

My SO and I went there on a Thursday night. The place was maybe 2/3 full and a little noisey. We were sat at a table though we saw several couples sitting in these cozy looking booths. There were several open booths. I had the New Orleans Mix and my SO had the Pork Chops. Yes - this place is a steak place, but we arent really steak eaters. The filet in the New Orleans mix, however, was awesome. Tender melt in your mouth awesome (I had it medium rare). Pork chop was huge but also tender and deelish. We also had the Brussels sprouts as a shared side which was great. We took home some leftovers (pork and brussels sprouts). We went there because we had a gift card, but the food was pretty darn good. I wouldnt pay to eat there because if I were paying a lot of money for dinner, it would not be for steak. That being said - if you are buying, I am there.

Great steaks! Very tasty. The berries dessert was fantastic and a nice light choice to end our meal. It was my moms birthday and the server treated her like a queen. Even though we loved our food. I will not go back until they figure out how to make the restaurant far less noisy. For what I paid for in a meal I should not have to shout, repeat myself to others and be uncomfortable. The restaurant is beautiful and food was great but not a comfortable dining experience.

Let me begin by saying this is an expensive restaurant to dine at, so definitely not for those that are more frugal/money conscious. The price range is a little higher than Ruth's, S&W, & Hyde Park. The service is great (some of the servers are rather eccentric), the interior decor is beautiful, & the bar selection is great. I am a relatively frequent diner here, & as a result, I usually get the same few things, but am also able to sample different things from my friends' plates. The appetizers are amazing (the hot seafood medley is fabulous), the steaks are simply perfection (I usually get the bone-in filet...highly recommended!!!), family-style sides are great (my personal favorites are the creamed corn, mushrooms, & mac-n-cheese since I'm not really a potato person), & now having eaten more than halfway through the dessert menu, all I can say is that you just can't go wrong with any of the menu items!!! Stop in for a special occasion next time or just because! :)

This is one of the greatest dining experiences in Columbus, hands down. Any wish is granted by the servers, it's their pleasure! and they will accommodate any dietary needs or restrictions. I always try to sit in the lounge for the TVs, atmosphere, piano man and fire place. Ladies, make sure you grab a pillow, the seats are really comfortable and deep. Awesome appetizers include Smokin' Shrimp Cocktail, Barbeque Shimp, Ahi Tuna Wontons, and a side of the tempura beans. I wish they had a cheese and olive plate for my friends that limit their flesh intake. You cannot go wrong with any of the salads but the Tomato and Onion salad is the best with Blue Cheese Dressing AND a Balsamic Reduction drizzle. The French Onion Soup was a pregnancy craving that never dissipated post-partum, the Triple Prime Meatloaf is the best I have ever had and can easily be split for two to share, the Rack of Lamb is phenomenal, and be sure to get the Eddie's Potatoes or the Brussels Sprouts as sides. ***Note of Importance: There is currently a Sunday special that features 1/2 off any bottle of wine available on the glass list. Can't finish it? Don't worry, you can get it wrapped to go! Their specials are pretty fantastic! They recently had a 28oz. Tomahawk Bone-In Ribeye Steak that blew my mind, anything gamey is worth trying - there was a memorable Elk special in December, and for the less carnivorous - they occasionally have a tomato soup that should be on the everyday menu. I'm pretty excited about the Lobster Fest Fridays too, it makes celebrating Lent a true celebration! Ohh and the Coconut Cream Pie is to die for. Cons: Do not ever show up early for a reservation, they will make you wait in the doorway (there is not a lobby) with people passing you to go to the bathroom or enter and leave the restaurant, and if there are inclimate weather conditions it can be incredibly uncomfortable. Also, the bananas are not always quite ripe enough for the Bananas Foster. Bottom Line: You get what you pay for, show up on-time for your reservation, and expect to leave fat and happy.

Best Steak I have ever had, PERIOD Best steak in the greater Columbus Area bar none. I have been to all the Mitchell's places, ruth's chris, hollywood's final cut, smith & wollensky, ALL OF THEM. None touch Eddie Merlot's. I like ribeye and their aged ribeye was cooked to perfection, seasoned to perfection, and was to die for. The sides were also on point from the mac and cheese to the cream corn. The red velvet dessert cupcake was also very tasty. The service was top notch both times i went, and i cannot wait to go again.

So, my friend, upon telling me about Eddie Merlot's, she mentioned "Hyde Park." That doesn't scream pretentious, does it? We ate at the bar - the bartenders? Friendly, attentive, even though they did botch my first drink (my manhattan was not a manhattan, dammit). I had the beef bourguignon - it was... okay. Everything is overpriced, and you are surrounded by people who obviously are trying to act like they're "high money" or some such (...it was like a bad episode of what I imagine real housewives is like. Ladies, I can hear you talking about spending your husbands money, your ex-husband, or you're cheating). Oh, but the mac and cheese was pretty damn tasty, and they didn't flinch when my friend and I split everything except the entrees.

It was good. I had planned on eat eating light - salad or fish, but they had prime beef. So, I got the 7 oz filet with their chopped salad. It was good but not a great steak. Nice interior. Service was fine. Everything was pretty good but just not great. Wouldn't recommend for a nice night out or client dinner. Just a place for dinner.

My fiance and I have been going here for our birthday's and anniversaries for the past two years and have been disappoint once. Although the best server we've ever had was the first. Great steaks and other main dishes. I didn't care for their Smoked Salmon appetizer; too salty for me. I love their wine selection and the atmosphere. Great place to possibly have our reception.

My favorite high-end resturant. The steak is the best I have ever had. Great seasoning. Only wish I could go more than once a year.

Wonderful experience! I ate in the lounge with a few coworkers and was served by the bartender who was very professional, knowledgable, and personal. He ran through all four specials for us then took our drink orders. We shared appetizers like macaroni and cheese au gratin potatoes and cauliflower. All of which were fantastic! My main course was the beef stroganoff which tasted like homemade. The sauce was rich and the beef was extremely tender. I could pull it apart with my fork! Can't wait to stop by again in the future.

Been here a few times. Food is good, service is good. Pricey of course. Last time we were seated in front of the piano and it was so loud. We couldn't hear each other so one could only converse with the person next to him/her. I would recommend calling for the reservation, not doing it online, if you want to be seated in the main dining area and not in the bar area. And I have to add that the owner really cares that his customers are satisfied. I was so impressed that he responded to my comments about the noise. That means a lot to me.

I haven't been here in about a year, so I thought we would go back for the Lenten lobster special. I was amazed how many reservations/open tables were available. We started with drinks for happy hour. I was charged $8 for the wine listed at $5 because I didn't indicate I wanted the house wine. I was also charged $13 for the martini that was $7 on the happy hour menu because a dirty martini was no longer included...um, it's just vodka and olives. Then when we ordered, we were informed that the lobster special, although the same price as last year, didn't include the Caesar salad and potatoes as it did previously. So, essentially, the same exact meal; two martinis, a Caesar salad, potatoes and two lobsters; which was roughy $54 last year was now $84. I am more than willing to pay for a quality meal, but knowing how much less it cost a year ago I can no longer get behind it.

Went here several times, always getting superb service! Best calamari I have ever had - always get it. I am not a wine drinker - so can't comment too much on the wine. The sea-bass is top-notch - or if you want pork, get the double cut pork chop. It still amazes me how they cook a double cut without making it tough - very tender, tasty, and huge. For steak - try the bourbon marinated one medium rare. Get the carrot cake for dessert.

I am kind of surprised at the weak rating, because I love this place. Probably my favorite restaurant in the Columbus area. Awesome steaks, chops, even darn good pastas. And their sides are amazing. The service is always great, very helpful and friendly. I love the "Trio" option; three small steaks all with different sauces/toppings. A great way to sample several options. They had a "Taste of Italy" menu that featured several pastas as well as a veal chop. Not sure if they bring that back at all, but the veal was excellent. As for sides, delicious. I am not really a lobster fan but the lobster mac and cheese is a masterpiece. Not necessarily the best steak I've ever had, but overall this place does so many things well.

Excellent streak. I am a die-hard Smith and Wollensky's fan and eye-rolled pretty hard when someone suggested that Eddie Merlot's was better. Better might be too strong a word, but it is definitely at least as good. Amazing service. Amazing steak.

Great place. The cream of spinach was very good. The other sides were good.restrooms were very nice also. The steak was just average. I got a bone in ribeye. The manager came by we ask him for something and he said he would bring it out for us. But he didn't. I didn't feel very valued as a guest.

After reading reviews on Yelp decided to try Eddie Merlot's. Was not disappointed!! Ordered the almond crusted trout and it was delicious. But the best part of dinner was the wine, Eddie Merlot Merlot!! It was a beautiful, smooth merlot and I can't wait to go back and have another bottle.

I am so suprised about the many poor reviews on Eddie Merlot's. Frankly it kept me from coming here but I wanted something special last night and was at Polaris so I decided to give it a try and I'm glad I did. I was going to give it 5 stars but there were a few (tiny) things that did bother me. First off, the prices, but that is to be expected, even though it is still higher than Ruth Chris, J Gilbert (but better here than at those 2) and others in the area. That aside, the service is a bit too talkative, we were at the bar and I just hate when bartenders try to talk more to you than your date and are just all up in your business, especially when you are eating, answering questions with a full mouth - never elegant. The GM Vittorio is very gracious, he even asked people at the bar if they were enjoying their meal, great guy. The food was excellent except for the barbacoa tacos, very dry shell, extreamly dry meat and nothing else on them. When we ordered we asked what was on them and were told onions, cheese, tomatos etc. Nothing, just dry hard to swallow meat, we really should have sent it back, I didn't really want to eat or pay for them. The rest chicken and waffles, very cute presentation, I liked the spin of chicken strips that looked like drumsticks but again two tiny strips, 3 quarter sized waffles is less than a kids meal for sure, and again was supposed to be served with maple syrup and hot sauce, none of that was to be found. The sliders and chips were great, the merlot salad small but excellent. The free bread took half an hour to recieve and we had to remind them twice, but was well worth it, crunchy on the outside, fresh and soft on the inside, along yummy butter. Philly steak sandwhich again teeny tiny but the au jus I could have straight drank a cup of sooo tasty. The fried green beans were also worth ordering, not as unhealthy as expected, lightly battered and flash fried. In all a great evening, every place needs minor improvements but really one of the best meals I've eaten in Columbus and that at a bar!

Outstanding dining experience! My wife ordered the meatloaf which she said was the best she ever eat! I had the tomahawk ribeye steak that was cooked to perfection . It was extremely tender and flavorful. The service was top shelf! Vali was our server and she set the bar for excellent customer service. She was friendly and efficient , at no time did we need to ask for anything it was if she knew our needs before we did! Good job! We certainly will be back!,

I am not a fan of chain restaurants but this place, I have to say, was good. My Gorgonzola-crusted filet was delicious...perfectly cooked medium, too. The sides are all huge and meant to be shared family-style. The potatoes and broccoli were standouts. Other folks at the table got the cedar plank salmon and said it was tasty. Our server was an over-the-top, dare I say theatrical weirdo who was robotic in his delivery. The ding I give this place is they were out of a few things on the menu. So before you get too excited about something, make sure it's available. Valet parking and coat check. Do yourself a favor and use both!

Excellent service and meal every time I've been here. This last visit was our third time dining out at Eddie Merlots. Our server was personable and did not make us feel rushed. The manager stopped by to introduce himself and made sure we were accommodated. The best compliment I can give this place is to say that I can't wait to go back again. Love it!

My mother, for her birthday, wanted to get some good steak, so the whole family piled in and went to Eddie Merlot's. It was my first time here. Service was...very good, although I was very surprised that they took orders from the women first. That's very old-fashioned. Still not sure how I feel about it. "Unnecessary" would be the word I suppose. Since there was a number of us, we ordered a lot to split with the table and they didn't bat an eye. Appetizers: BBQ shrimp and spinach artichoke dip. IMO the shrimp was nothing to write home about but the artichoke dip was awesome. For my entree I got the Strube Ranch American Wagyu Ribeye. For my part, I was very impressed that they specified American Wagyu. Most steak restaurants will simply state "Wagyu" and try to pass it off as Japanese beef. (Google "Wagyu scam" for a more in-depth analysis of Wagyu and Kobe beef imposters in restaurants. You WILL pay about $300 for a genuine Japanese beef experience in the US as an fyi.) I was also impressed that they sourced their American Wagyu, and I know Strube Ranch is a very good Wagyu producer. So, I got it. And it was great...really fantastic. One of the best ribeyes I've had. The only downside...and I really should have known better, but I got a topping of bacon and gorganzola. I expected it to be a thin topping, exhancing flavor. It was like a CAKE of bacon and gorganzola. I had to push it off to the side, it completely overpowered the steak. Quite frankly the ribeye spoke for itself and did not need the topping. I wish the waiter had recommended against it. For the sides we got truffle fries (meh); hash browns (the waiter raved about these but I also found them very bland); creamed corn (excellent); mushrooms (very good); and asparagus (good). Honestly, for the price, I'd rather go to M, but I do advise everyone coming here to try it at least once, and when you come, go all out. My ribeye cost me $65 and was worth every penny.

We had a party of eleven and it was my second time visiting this restaurant. Both times the service was fantastic, quick and friendly. We tried orders of the chips with blue cheese, and they were excellent. The soup of the day was a lobster and crab chowder and very creamy and tasty. When I go to a steak house I generally order filet, which I did this time. It had great flavor and literally melted in my mouth. In addition I ordered the grilled jalepenos and onions since I love spicy food. It was more onion then jalepeno but tasty. The cooked mushrooms were also very good. Expect a higher than normal bill but Eddie Merlot is worth the price. We will be back!

We've dined at Eddie Merlot's about 3 times and the service has always been good. The manager, Vittorio, genuinely makes you feel welcome and doesn't forget your name. We like to sit at the bar, which is very cozy, and Michael the bartender takes good care of you...his wine suggestions are excellent. The bar menu is good, especially the Confit Chicken Wings - they are unlike any wings I've ever had! The steaks are good and they even have grass-fed options on the menu. The atmosphere is nice, it's not dark like some steak houses since there's a good amount of natural light coming in from the windows. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Really, the food is quite excellent. That said, I don't know how I would rate it on a value scale. The place is pricey, no question about it and one reason I went 4 stars. I think it is much more in the $$$$ category than $$$. This puts them in the very top of pricing in Columbus... we're talking a Michelin star scraping price point. At this level I would expect absolute perfection in everything they do. That said, I have no real faults with the food or the service. If you are up for a splurge, this is a fine place. The steaks were excellent and extremely well prepared. The sides were excellent as well. What would push this to 5 stars for me at this price point would be exquisite service... that which you would find in only the best restaurants. The service here was quite capable and good, but not extraordinary. Additionally, a bit more refinement to the food would get that extra star. While mac and cheese is good, great even, it isn't something I would expect at this price point. At this price point you had better be showing me something extraordinary, not simply extremely well done ordinary. All that said, this is probably the best steak you will find in Columbus and I am splitting hairs. Everything is great, just the value gets me. I am not sure you really get all that you pay for considering you will push $80+ per person with wine, sides, starters and desert.

OK atmosphere, sides were bearable at best but not impressed with the steak. I cannot in good faith give a restaurant good reviews for the sides, drinks and ambiance being good when the main reason you go to a steakhouse is the steak! I ordered my filet med well, and it was overcooked, burned on the outside, void of any pink on the inside, had a bitter taste flavor , and tough to chew. It needed steak sauce or oscar style and that's a bad sign. Not worth the price tag. Desserts and again side dishes were ok, but the worst steak I've had in Columbus. Many other choices with better food. Also our friends ordered dessert which had already been paid for by the company, they declined to take it with them, and the waitstaff would not allow others in the party to take the dessert home which was gonna be wasted! I have never seen that before. I'm in the medical field and we do business dinners often. Would not go back to Eddie Merlots. Poor service, poor food, Go elsewhere.

I love Eddie Merlot's! The best experiences come from sitting at the bar and having Greg take care of us! I never order my own glass of wine - I ask him to surprise me. :) He's extremely well versed in wine options and always has excellent suggestions for appetizers and meal options. Saturday nights are extra special as the pianist will begin playing classics everyone knows the words to and he reaches a wide range of music lovers so you are bound to recognize a favorite. Beatles, Elton, Billy Joel, etc. Eddie Merlot's rocks. Their service is top notch. They have a dedicated, long tenured staff, amazing food options and the best wines courtesy of Greg's suggestions. They are value repeat business and every visit is a special one. Love it!

My husband and I had a great anniversary dinner here. It was our first time dining here and we were very pleased with both the service and food. We knew it was going to be expensive, so the prices didn't come as a shock. All of the food we had was wonderful. We started with the ahi tuna appetizer which was delicious and plentiful. Next I had the French onion soup which was just about the best I've ever eaten. My husband ordered the steak trio and it was delicious also. One of the steaks was a bit too overcooked for my husband's liking, and the waiter immediately took it back and brought out a new one within minutes that was perfect. I had a duck dish that I was happy with. We shared the tempura beans for a side. Yes, sides are separate and run average $8, but the portion was big and we easily shared. Quite a lot of food, and although I was full, I felt very satisfied and not bloated. Our server did a fine job, and was able to recommend some wine for us. Oh yeah, and we were given a free dessert because they knew it was our anniversary. I thought that was especially nice. I appreciated the pace of the meal and how much time was between courses. We were able to take our time to enjoy each others company and not feel rushed. So five stars it is. The only reason we won't come here as often as we like to is because of the price, but that just means we'll have to stick to special occasions when we really want some good food and pampering service. Thanks, Eddie merlots for helping make our nite special!

I have been here several times for business and on my own dime and have never been dissapointed. It is pricey but the service and food has always been great. My favorite is the bourbon marinated rib eye, exceptional flavor. To keep the bill low we tried their private label wine (cabernet), it was priced right and very good. The made at your table bananas foster is great. Nice presentation and very good.

First off let me say the service was out of this world! If I could just rate them on service alone it would be a 5. The food is good, but way over priced. My husband and I both had the steak, which were good, but not worth the high price. I must say I have had a better steak at Ted's Montana Grill for 1/2 the price. Desserts are excellent!

We had dinner here with a group of friends and the food was great. The service was quick and friendly but above all the food was amazing. We had the steak Diane with jalapeno Brussels sprouts and potatoes and it was one of the best meals I have had all year. We have already made a reservation to go back.

They should change their name to Salty Merlot. The chef is drowning everything except the lettuce in salt. Probably good food but ruined by so much salt that your tongue and throat burn. Not worth the money!

I have been here twice recently, the first time I went with a friend specifically to try the spring prix fixe menu. Wow...not tasty at all. I had the ahi tuna with the wagyu flat iron steak and finished with the triple berry pie. None of these items impressed me. Then I was persuaded to go back and decided to stick with the basics, so I went with the filet and shared an order of the mac and cheese. This was phenomenal -- definitely better then Ruth Chris. The mac and cheese was one of the better ones I have had as well. However, I do have to say, as with most reservation only restaurants (I rarely make reservations as that would require me to plan in advance), when we got there, there were no open tables for about 1.5 hrs, so we ate at the bar. But, when I made my bathroom trip, I noted a large quantity of open tables. I'm okay with this, as the bar was fairly decent, but the concept still doesn't make sense to me.

Wonderful service. Food is AWESOME with huge portions! You can easily share the salads and sides which makes it less expensive. You really pay for what you get here. I had the Trio of Medallions which were cooked to perfection and very flavorful. also recommend the macaroni and cheese!

Beautiful restaurant. Great for romantic dinner. Wonderful service. We were greeted by a table captain who kicks off dinner and makes sure you start off great. He was very accommodating. Wow. Never heard of Eddie Merlots since I'm not from Columbus, but I was pleasantly surprised. I had the Wagyu Burger, and while super expensive for a burger, it was easily the best I've ever had. The beer was unbelievably flavored! Some of the other people I dined with had the filet which you could cut with fork. Perfectly cooked. The server had to be reminded of a couple items, but besides that, it was a great experience.

Visited for Mother's Day and found dinner to be somewhat average. Service was fine -- if a bit too overly friendly -- but the food was very mediocre. Cesar salad was heavy and uninspiring, my steak was on the fatty side but well flavored and the assorted sides (Eddie's potatoes, tempura beans, truffle fries) were unremarkable. The kid liked the chicken fingers (a big plus), but the cost of the meal should have led to a more memorable experience. Lastly, the 70s and 80s power ballad music over the speakers was a questionable choice in terms of ambiance. Will try again on a non-holiday (and when I am feeling rich) - but there are other places worth going to in Columbus.

This place has the worse service ever! We came in as a party of 9 and all went down hill from the beginning. I guess the server automatically new he would get his 20% tip no matter what the outcome. Never, in my 43 years have I had a 2 penny server tell me NO I cannot have something as simple as a bowl, cocktail fork, etc. Vittorio-general manager, made an attempt to fix the situation, but left for the day and Justin the 2 bit server continued with his unprofessional 4 star restaurant behavior. Normally, I would not provide a review but it was that bad. As for the food, the lobster had no flavor, and the salad dressing taste like a Kraft brand. Overall, if you want good food and great service you may as well go over to a White Castles!

Best meal of my entire life!! The steaks are amazing! The best oysters, crab cakes and calamari ever!! Yum!! This place is expensive, but you get what you pay for!! We have tried a lot of different foods here and never been disappointed!

My coworker and I happened upon Eddie Merlot's by chance driving to another restaurant and found ourselves entering what appeared to be a pretty expensive restaurant. Oops! We were here for work, not so much a date. Atmosphere aside, the decor was a little busy, very Las Vegas if you ask me! The entire staff was incredibly attentive with greeting us and making sure our experience was top notch, impressive! Our server gave a tutorial on the different kinds of steak they had available which is great for a novice, however unnecessary for someone like me who had a meatatarian in the family. I ordered the carb cakes and french onion soup. HOLY COW.... the french onion soup! You might find yourself wondering why I would go to a steak house and not order steak, but boy am I glad I didn't! It was the BEST french onion soup I've ever had! And that's saying a lot! The server was amazing and told me it was highly recommended, I'm glad I asked! The crab cakes were great and were perfectly cooked. The menu was extensive, a la carte, and a little pricey but not for the quality and the service. Our waiter was incredibly attentive to our needs as well. He kept coming back to the table asking if we needed anything, refills, to tell us how amazing the bread was... it was pretty impeccable! I think it's great for a special occasion... or a corporate credit card. ;)

We went there on Tuesday night. Ordered 2 meals: salmon and the New Orleons mixed grill. The salmon was terrible as was the spinach on the side which was very salty. The shrimp and sausage in the mixed grill didn't taste good either. The only good part was a small piece of filet in the mixed grill and that was all. the quality was poor and the price extremely high for such a poor meal. Not going back there!

We had a really great experience at Eddie Merlot's. I was able to get a reservation day of which was nice. The restaurant was busy, not packed but our waitress said it was a slow night for them so I would probably make reservations just to be safe. They first sat us in a back room next to a large table that was already pretty loud. We immediately asked to be moved and they quickly accommodated us. The menu was a little overwhelming but our waitress was really helpful in walking us through the menu and giving us great suggestions. She also brought out some steaks to explain the different cuts and quality they offered. They had a reasonable number of wines by the bottle that weren't too expensive so we chose the Sterling Pinot Noir which was excellent. For an app we ordered the calamari based on our waitresses' recommendation. The presentation was really nice and the calamari was excellent. They offered 3 different sauces, a wasabi mayo, sesame ginger soy sauce (our fav), and a hot mustard I think was the third. All were very good and it was a different take on the normal marinara sauce. Oh and did I mention the delicious bread they bring out? It was warm garlic-y goodness and it was hard not to eat all of it. For dinner I ordered the 6 oz filet oscar style and hubs ordered the 22 oz bone in rib eye, both medium rare. We ordered the Eddie Merlots potatoes for a side. I was a little nervous they would be too spicy for me since they had jalapeños in them but they had the right amount of spice and flavor, really delicious. My steak came out without the oscar style so I had to send it back but it was quickly returned and our waitress removed the extra oscar style from the bill. My steak was cooked perfectly and was really good. Hubs steak looked more medium than medium rare but tasted so fantastic it didn't matter. Somehow we saved room for dessert and decided to try the carrot cake since the menu said it was the worlds best! :) It seems like all their desserts could be shared by two-four people so keep that in mind. We didn't come close to finishing it and I don't know if it is the worlds best but it was pretty darn good and we have been enjoying it for a couple days. Some reviewers have mentioned slow service but we weren't in any hurry and wanted to relax and enjoy our night which is exactly what we did. The service was excellent, I couldn't believe when I asked our waitress how long she had been there and she said one month. She was really great and the manager stopped by to make sure our dinner was going well. Overall I would definitely return and would recommend to others.

Mediocre. Real nice, classy restaurant but I was not very impressed with my steak. I got a filet mignon medium-well. It was a little cold and hard--sucks because I was really excited for it. Also, my waitress didn't even ask if I wanted any sauce with my steak so when it came out I had to wait 5 more minutes for her to bring some sauce. I may be biased because I was just in New York last weekend and had one of the best steaks I have ever had (Club-A Steakhouse, definitely check that out if up in NYC). Anyways, for the price I expected a little more. Very expensive for the quality of the food.

We went to the Eddie Merlot Columbus location shortly after they opened, and we will never return. For an expensive steak place, they certainly did not show any expertise in their professed specialty. Three out of the four of us thought our steak was overcooked and tough. The service would have been fine at a lower priced restaurant - but as price goes up expectations go up as well. Our young, unpolished server, while friendly, had no knowledge of the wine list, could not make menu recommendations, talked like a teenager, and did not replace the silverware. At Applebee's this is fine. But when entrees are approaching $40-$50 dollars, this level of service is unacceptable. The (wine) glassware was very poor. At this pricepoint for both wine and food, the restaurant should be using Riedels or Spieglaus. Outback has better stemware than Eddie Merlot's. Seriously. Overall, we blew a wad of cash for an unsatisfying dining experience. Totally not worth the price. Not recommended. For the rest of you, I certainly hope that it was a matter of new staff both front of the house as well as back of the house, who were still working out the kinks.

Eddie Merlot's is a true gem of a restaurant. It is unique for a steakhouse in many ways, it doesn't have any of that dusty old steakhouse dark feel to it but is rather very bright and beautiful. The staff is amazing and service is at the top of their list as lead by the General Manager Vittorio (if ever someone was in the right career it is this man!!! He's perfect!!). My family and I have consistently had great service and fantastic food at this restaurant. I strongly recommend this to anyone looking for a top-notch dinner. Also, we had a private party there last year and the planning to execution was easy and total perfection- Eddie Merlot's Columbus does it RIGHT!

Unlike the other posting, I've recently been to Eddie's. The place is worthwhile to go to even more because of the new manager, Vitorrio (sp?). This guy is awesome! He will make you feel at home and will cater to your every need! Jessica, one of the managers there is also awesome and will take care of any detail you have. Food is very good, belive it or not, I really like the Cedar Planked Salmon even though they are primarily known for their steaks. Service is on par with a Ruth Chris or Morton's, but with a much better a lively atmosphere. Great for parties too! If you want a more casual atmosphere, go hang out at the bar area and eat, great if you are dining alone or with a few friends. Vittorrio will make his way through the restaurant and talk with all the customers and will definitely make you feel special. Go there, try it out! They always run specials that are affordable too! You will truly enjoy yourself!

Had dinner at the bar and it couldn't have been better. The selections of wine by the glass was stellar and the service was very attentive. I'd return.

I was very hesitant to try this place out based on other reviews, but in the end I was very pleased. My husband and I came here on a Tuesday night, one of our first date nights out after having a baby so it was a "big deal". I wanted good atmosphere, food and to leave feeling we had a special night. All were accomplished. We sat at the bar to start and each had a dirty martini and shared a bowl of their seafood chowder. Once we decided to go to our table our waiter came over promptly, offered us another drink, told us the specials etc. Throughout the whole meal the service was excellent. We tried the calamari for an appetizer. Very lightly tempura fried, all rings, no tentacles. This was a huge appetizer, but yummy. Probably would try something else next time. We then shared a filet mignon and the ahi tuna. They sliced and separated both entree's onto our plates which was nice. The steak was perfectly cooked as well as the tuna. I liked how both entrees were up front, simple and not soaked in butter or overdone in sauces. We also got the sauteed spinach which was a touch too salty but still tasty. I left not feeling over indulged but completely satisfied. It is a pricey restaurant, like any other good steak house. You won't be disappointed.

We had an unusually bad experience at Eddie Merlot's at the end of February 2012. We came to the restaurant with a party of six to celebrate a special occasion. One of our servers had unusually bad body odor that lingered in the area even after he left. Given that he frequented our area to attend to other tables in our area, we have to deal with the smell all throughout our dinner and it ruined our meal. I filed a complaint on Eddie Merlot's web site and was pleasantly surprised to receive a call back within 4 hours from the General Manager Vittorio. He apologized and let me know the issue had been taken care of and that he wanted us to come back to make up for the experience so he could have another chance. He offered some gift cards to make up for the experience and told us to call him when we came in so he could take care of us. In early April, we went back to the restaurant. Per the GM's request, I called to let the restaurant when we made reservations and let them know the situation (which they remembered) and the circumstances surrounding us coming back. We came to the restaurant with expectations of service that would make up for our ruined $400 meal. Instead, we received an impersonal response - a bottle of wine and 2 cheap $3 appetizers (which we couldn't even choose). No manager even came over to ensure everything was OK. Considering we have spent $1000 over the past few months at the restaurant (and $400 on this trip alone), I feel that we were duped - they received another $400 at the expense of maybe $20 worth of wine and appetizers - I hardly consider that making up for a ruined $400 meal. To top it off, I reached out to the manager to tell him of my dissatisfaction and all he could say was "I don't know what to say". In fact, while I was talking, he started picking up silverware off the table. I would have at least expected him to ask what he could do to make it right. Eddie's response to my bad experience was an insult. There are enough fine dining restaurants in Columbus, I would recommend going to one that actually cares about their customers. If I would have known what was going to happen, we would have went elsewhere with our $400. One note: In fairness to the server, he was excellent.

I'm writing these reviews to send a message to all Columbus restaurants. Your business is food. We ate here last night. We have been so disappointed with eating in the Columbus suburbs we thought we would try typcal American style cooking in the hopes it would be ok. The food is mediocre, the wine list a joke. I don't really care about the service and any amenities. If the food does not make a favorable impression, then it's not worth going to. Eddie Merlot's has been added to our long list of Columbus restaurants we will avoid. This is simply another reason for the proliferation of cheap, themed, fast food restaurants in this area. It makes no sense to spend money on food in the north Columbus area.

Went to Eddie Merlot's for the first time last Saturday for our anniversary - big mistake! It seemed like they used low quality ingredients and charged very high prices. Preshredded parmesan cheese on the caesar salad, potatoes that seemed to have been frozen from the texture in the side of Eddie's potatoes which were described as au gratin but were swimming in flavorless white sauce with a little cheddar cheese on top - nasty! My steak was barely lukewarm when I got it and I returned it. A manager brought it back from the kitchen and said that the waitress had said that my concern was that my truffle butter wasn't melting. He condescendingly told me that the butter would melt gradually. Well, not if the steak isn't hot! There are so many nice restaurants in this area - don't waste your money here. Needless to say, we won't go back!

Well, the service and food was okay, but like the stars say, I've experienced better and at a much more affordable price. Honestly, Eddie Merlot's is just not special enough to keep my attention. I won't be giving it a second-look.
