My favorite sub in Columbus! The cheesesteak is great and the bread is the best. The sandwiches are HUGE and reasonably priced. My only issue was the person that was making sandwiches was chomping gum with her mouth open the whole time. Very unprofessional and gross. You shouldn't be chomping gum when waiting on customers and especially when you're making the food.

This is my first and last visit. The prices are overinflated for the amount of meat on your sub. 2 of the 4 subs ordered were not made as ordered. They did quickly correct the error. The fact that 4 medium subs with drinks and chips was $44 is crazy. This is the least favorite sub I have ever had and the 3 teenagers with me agree...the only redeeming quality was the bread was fresh, but the rest not so tasty.

The sandwiches are so good and for like 4 bucks more than subway, i am not sure what people are looking for. Best chain sandwich you can get.

I've only had the Phiily cheesesteak numerous times and I cannot recall having one better anywhere else....and I've been eating them for almost half a century! My only problem with this location is the unfriendliness of the people taking your order and/or money if your skin color is not the same as their's! Too many times I have seen the staff, give what appears to be, preferential service and kindness/friendliness to their "brothers". I am neither a racist or a bigot; I treat all people based on their merits. I do not like being treated disrespectfully because of my skin color. The staff does not say "thank you"; they appear to presume they are doing me a favor by selling me a sub! I truly enjoy the Philly cheesesteak; however, I order it here less often now. I don't need to deal with whatever issues they have with my skin color.

I hadn't been to DiBella's in a long while, because the past few times I'd eaten there, I wasn't really impressed. Having said that, I was expecting to come out of this with a lower review, but I really enjoyed my meal there yesterday. I ended up going with The Godfather, which is their Italian, with Everything bread that they make themselves. The meat was decent, but the bread really makes the sandwich. I think the last few times I've gone, I've had one of their sandwiches with chicken, and their chicken just does not do much for me. The place was pretty empty, so we got our food quickly, and the pricing is pretty cheap too for the size and quality of food you're getting for a sub shop. I've definitely reassessed my sandwich options over the past month and found it's worth giving a bunch of places around me another shot. I'll be back here soon, especially with the Winter setting in, and it being so close to my house.

I've wanted to visit this place for sometime, frantic like a junkie in a H-dry town, trying to find a replacement for Quiznos' Chicken and Bacon, Honey Mustard Sub; I have had an enduring cravings for that since Q packed up and left under the cover of night a few years ago. And because I like the facade of DiBella's building, which always catches my eyes riding up Olentangy River Road, I decided to try it. They didn't have a Honey Chicken offering which was a bummer. But this is my mistake. They do have a 'build your own sub' option that I didn't notice until after I ordered--I'll certainly will return to see if that will still my withdraw symptom. (although a quick glance of their menu shows that chicken is not a selection. I will have to see what choppy charm, mad manipulation, or pitiful pleading by me will get them to do it.) Instead, I selected a corned beef sub on whole grain wheat. The subs here come in three sizes, the medium is 10-inches long. I found the meal to be a bit pricey, $11 for a medium corned beef, a bag of chips, fountain drink and a cookie. The sub was tasteful but not Facebook post great. The bread was the real deal, and the vegetables and condiments-- lettuce, tomato, cucumbers, peppers, mayo were really fresh and high quality. The corned beef was average. DiBella's calls their servings 'old fashioned' and so their interior theme is the 1920-30s. I can't say if in fact the sandwiches are in the style of that era, they seem pretty standard for 2014 to me. The inside has comfortable booth, is spotless, and roomy. You have all the 1930s soda shop cliches: black squared ceilings, terrazzo flooring, chrome framed booths, bathrooms designated for Gents and Gals. Curiously, they continue the theme to music, anachronistically playing '40s big band, with selections of 1920 jazz; a strange thing to do under the shadows of Ohio State. Final conclusion: the place is a bit to pricy for an everyday lunch spot but yet not good enough for special treat trip. Although I will be back to try to con them into making a chicken-bacon thing, I will update if it is fireworks.

I went in around 1:00 and the line was moving quick - the order taker was professional, polite and efficient. As I moved down to the cashier things seemed to be moving a little slower..... The cashier was taking everyone's money who had already ordered through a process of asking "what did you have?" then not giving a receipt. I could've ordered 4 subs and told the cashier I had 1 kids meal - thank goodness I am an honest person. So after that then all the paid customers were just standing around waiting... and waiting.... and waiting. I heard one person say they had been waiting for 30 minutes. I peeked over the counter and there were about 8 subs bagged and ready to be delivered just sitting there..... The gal who looked to be the caboose delivery person (Keya) was not in any rush at all and acted like she wishes she could've been anywhere but there. Overall, the taste of my grilled Buckeye Sub was good - although it was obvious that it was quickly thrown together and was not warm. I may return if my time allows it. This trip I was on my lunch break - which I wasted inside waiting for 25 minutes.

Just what Grandview needs, another da*n sub shop. That's what I thought. But I was in a hurry and wanted to grab a quick bite and popped into DiBella's. I was DiWrong for thinking that and DiLighted to eat here. I got the Godfather grilled on an Everything bun that was fresh and perfectly crusted. The oil dressing and peppers on the sub were spot on. Bonus: you get to pick your own toppings. They have big deli pickles for sale, which feeds into my "anything and everything pickled" fetish. And other sides are available like tater salad and mac salad. I give DiBella's two subs up!

I'll preface by saying that I may just not be an overwhelming fan of DiBella's to begin with but the service this go around at this location was not great. I ordered the Chicken Philly on an "Everything" seasoned roll. It was OK enough but a little bland for my tastes needing some salt or some spices IMO. I think I ordered wrong though so that's on me. I should've got what Sal C. had...I'm sure I would've loved it. I do really like Grandma DiBella's cookies though....the oatmeal are pretty solid and the chocolate chip are religious. The reason for the 2.5 stars was the service. It looked like there may have been three employees working, one of which was in the dining room on his phone on break, I'm guessing. The other two I had any contact with didn't seem to care that I was there, as if I was an inconvenience, but made my food and shuffled me off ASAP. They didn't ask if I was dining in but gave me a table number even though I was taking my food with me. The gentlemen who "helped" me bolted through my topping options in a jumble of words and then made my order. I would've asked him to repeat what he had said but he seemed annoyed that I was there. When I went to pay no one was interested in ringing me up. Honestly, I could've just walked out the door with my food since it didn't seem like they wanted to take my money. I don't think this was a freak occurrence. The store by my house was friendlier but the order-to cook-to pay process seemed disjointed there too. Anyway, it may have been an off day for the staff...I've had them too. The food was pretty decent and made well but not sure I'd come back.

Really liked dibella's subs. However, i made it into the store at 5:01pm on new year's eve only to be turned away at the counter! They closed at 5 pm :-/

Yum! Looking for a sub with fresh ingredients? This is the place!! 3 choices of bread and many toppings with excellent quality meats.

Delicious! The everything bread is similar to a bagel in a submarine form. Who doesn't love bagels?!

First time here so I got the cheesesteak and wasn't disappointed. The bread was excellent and the sub was really filling. Plan on coming back here whenever I'm in Columbus.

Nice hearty sub! Way better than other chain deli's. buffalo chicken on everything bread was delicious.

Close, but no 4th star Of all the sub sandwich places in my area I would say di bella's is the best. I like their bread, I like their cold subs and a few of the hot ones. However it does not have anything that really wows me to the point that I desire their food any given day.

  • Mike B.

It's an ok sandwich, but it didn't blow me away. What got to me here was the service and process. It's stupid. It's like they want to be subway, but instead of telling someone what you want as they build it, you tell some guy who writes it down on paper and hands it off. I was rather perturbed that two people that ordered (cold) subs after me, both got their subs before me (also a cold one), so I'm not sure who was dealing the cards, but they messed up. Food quality good, balanced by poor service.

When I'm in the mood for a quick sandwich this is the place I go - their bread is simply delicious and you have many choices for meats and toppings. All fresh and quality ingredients. Their macaroni salad and cookies are really good as well. Never had an issues with service - the associates always greet you with a smile!

If you're a hot sub fan... this place has got some great ones. I order the meatball on the everything bread. It is one of the best hot subs I've ever had. The bread is amazing and ver flavorful. The meatballs are pretty large, fresh and tasty. The staff is pretty cool too, and I like this location!

Had a Godfather sub (capicola, ham, salami) on multigrain bread today. I had a small and it was huge! Very solid sandwich overall, especially since it is toasted. Will definitely be going back to try other sandwiches.

I went by when they first opened, and it was a confusing ordeal. They got my order wrong, but I didnt write a review because i dint think it would be fair due to their growing pains. Well, I went in today for the 2nd time, and it was really good. They dont offer an "Italian" sub per se, but you can build your own, which is what I did. You can get it cold or grilled and in 3 sizes, small, medium, and large. I got a medium which was about 10" long. You also get your choice of like 5 different rolls/buns, 3 meats, one cheese, and your choice of toppings. I got ham, salami, Capicola with provolone and mozzarella (extra cheese for $1.25). I topped it with tomato, lettuce, onion, yellow peppers, vinegar & oil, and oregano. It was superb! The only thing I didnt like about it, was how it was constructed. I didnt see how they built the sandwich, but all the toppings are on one side, and the meat/cheese was on the other. It was strange...I had to take two small bits from each side to get a nice mix. They offer a "combo" meal which include a drink and a side. Sides included, chips, potato salad, macaroni salad or even a cookie. I found the pricing to be a little high...my medium combo (minus the extra cheese) was $10.59 +applicable tax, but, it was a good sandwich...Id go back again.

The ordering in this place really confused me. We walked in and I immediately noticed how many people were working behind the counter--about 10! We looked at a paper menu and just sort of stood there for a second not knowing how to order because there were a few people on the line saying they could help whoever was next...but that means you don't stay in order when you walk in. Does that make sense? It was just weird. The kid behind the counter was nice and took our orders. We then waited by the register for a second with our numbers (each person gets a number, not like, a table gets one number) and didn't know what to do next. Do we wait for our number to be called and then pay? Or, do we pay and sit down with our numbers? Finally the guy at the register said he could cash us out and we told him our numbers and paid. The food was delivered to the table, at different times. (That's something I don't like--if you're sitting with someone, the food should be delivered at the same time.) As far as the food, it was okay. I went with the cheese steak and the inside contents were good, and the bread was tasty, but the bread wasn't toasted enough for me. I guess I'd much rather have Firehouse Subs in this instance. Will I go back? I don't know. Not likely.

I was so excited when this place opened, as it is right by my store, and their menu looked good and I am quite a fan of a good hot sub. Alas... I've tried both the meatball and their buffalo chicken subs, and they are just so BLAND. The meatball sub was okay, and I hold that as the watermark for a good sub shop. It was - lacking. The buffalo chicken sub, I had hope for. Blue cheese and sauces, I thought it MUST be flavorful. I was wrong. Oh, and the blue cheese? Missing in action - they apparently forgot to put it on. To be quit clear - it's not bad. It's just not GOOD. It's not all bad; the service is great, the bread very good, but as I've said, BLAND. Make no mistake; Firehouse, Subway, Quiznos, even Donatos - all better options. I'm hoping that with time this will change, and I do intend on giving it another go. But I will be more than happy to wait for that chance. C'est la vie.

There's a lot about this place that puzzles me. Order placement, line succession, ingredient selection, even the menu design - I found virtually every aspect of DiBella's to be awkward and unintuitive. The sandwiches themselves are pretty decent, and the house-made bread is surprisingly stellar, but the experience leaves a lot to be desired. The space is attractive, and split lengthwise separating the serving and seating areas. It's vaguely old-timey, with an ancient-looking etched ceiling, suspended lamps, and ceiling fans. The booths are ample, the prep counter is crowned with red neon, and floating above it all is the authentic scent of continuously baking bread. But when I started my placing order, the problems began. #1. Who do I speak to? There must have been eight employees behind the counter, but it wasn't at all clear who was at bat. Most didn't make eye contact, including the lady who was at the register, until prompted. I went for the Godfather, a classic Italian combination of Genoa salami, capicola, and spicy ham, while the guy wanted a club and settled for a meatball sub. #2. Why? Because they DON'T HAVE BACON! How can any self-respecting sandwich shop go into business without bacon? It boggles the mind. Anyway, I worked my wife skills a little and at this point he was just as eager to try his second favorite, and I was still pretty excited to try mine. We were each handed a slip of paper for our order, with no instructions what to do next. #3. So, um, what now? We mulled around a bit until I worked up the courage to ask someone else, who honestly seemed to simply take pity on me and began to build my sandwich. I went with the "everything" style bread, though you really can't miss. The dough is absurdly fresh and flavorful, and packed with such perfect chewiness that it continues to stand out no matter your toppings. Unfortunately, that brings me to pet peeve #4. What exactly is the thinking behind the listing of toppings on the menu? I don't mean the possibilities, I mean the actual list. First they list 7 sauces/dressings, then 7 vegetables, then 4 cheeses, and then way at the bottom, 2 more sauces/dressings. What, are the Buffalo Hot Sauce and and DiBella's Famous Oil Dressing so very different from the BBQ Sauce and the Ranch Dressing? Deep thoughts, people. Work out the kinks and this could be a worthwhile lunch spot. There's plenty of space, it's quick, and it's cheap. That bread is first-class, and the service (when it was given) was fast and friendly. But most importantly, it was far from a sub-par submarine.

I went her tonight with my boyfriend and thought it was awesome! I got the Chicken Philly with provolone cheese on everything bread. My boyfriend got the Godfather on sesame bread. My sandwich was flavorful, hot and the bread was fresh. I absolutely LOVE the everything bread. I would go back and just get the bread if I could. My boyfriend loved his sub. He added banana peppers and oil to the meat and said it was really tasty. The service was really fantastic. The first ordering process was a little slow, but I'm sure that is because DiBella's is new. The person taking my order was helpful when I was not sure what I wanted. The woman who brought out my sub was very friendly and helpful when I asked her questions. The place is really clean, which I love. There was constantly someone cleaning off tables when people left, checking up on napkins/straws/etc. and making sure everything was in place. I will definitely be returning, and I recommend DiBella's to anyone who is considering whether or not to go!

They have bacon now...I just had a cheese-steak sub with bacon and their meatball sub is delicious. Not a big fan of their chicken subs.

Newly opened and well-needed! Located on the corner of Olentangy and King - my (hope) is that this place will thrive in this location. It seems the Wendy's right across the way is always packed during the lunch rush - so hopefully Dibella's can take care of that? All in all, I was thoroughly impressed. Having never even heard of the establishment, I was very intrigued to check it out as I drove past, ironically, on my way to Wendy's. Basically, it's a subshop - more unique than Subway. Corned beef, salami.... interesting (and fresh) meat choices! The basic condiments, mustard, olive oil, mayo, lettuce, tomato, olives, every kind of pepper and cheese....you know, the basics to a good sammy. I strongly encourage you to get it grilled. Delicious! The bread to meat ratio was ehhh. A tad dis-proportional where the meat was all on one side of the sandwich and veggies were crammed in the corner. Typical sub problems, maybe? Kind of have the CiCi's vibe going with the "Welcome to Dibella's!" Could get annoying, but not all of the employees always said it - which made it a tad better. And while they just opened, there were some kinks. Or I'm just an idiot, but I was waiting for my sub and apparently I should have been paying. Oops. But it was fine, the staff is friendly, the food is pretty good. Standard for a sub, not too shabby. Simple, clean, and spacious. I may be back if I'm in the area...but I won't make an event out of it. Maybe a quick lunch.

I was very excited to find a yummy sandwich place in Columbus. Their sandwiches are huge and packed with meat. I've had the Dibella's dip and a chicken bacon ranch so far and have not been disappointed. The bread is also fresh and very tasty.

Best sub in Columbus. They always pile on toppings, a medium is lunch and dinner for me (leftovers even better when toasted). My favorite part is the multi grain hoagie bread and the homemade cookies are the perfect dessert. Enjoy!

Great Cheesesteak. This isn't Geno's or Pat's in Philadelphia, but it's pretty good.

Very Good Philly Sub. This is a sub shop. Its not a fancy gourmet Italian restaurant and isn't meant to be. So, all you weirdos out there who slam it on the ratings because of the not-so-foo=foo decor can stuff it. I mean, what are you thinking? You are getting sub and whatever and spending a little more than you would spend at McDonalds. Anyways, thats my two cents for the idiots who give it a bad rating for the lack of ambience and what the frick ever else. If you come to get a great tasting sub at a nice clean place, this is the place.

I had some DiBella's catered, so I can't speak to the restaurant, but I did enjoy the food. I checked out a paper menu and the prices look to be right along the lines of Jersey Mike's. I tried a turkey sub and it was just fine. A bit bland, but that's turkey for you. The bread is pretty tasty, but I like a sandwich more for what's in between. I didn't see much difference between this and a turkey sandwich from Subway (for half the price). I might head over to check out a roast beef sub, since that's my favorite at Jersey Mike's and is markedly different than Subway and other sandwich shops. The chocolate chip cookies are very good, by the way. Overall, the food is just fine, but a bit expensive for what you get, I feel.

Everything about this place was OK. The service was fine. The decor was confusing, it says they've been around since 1918 but the decor was decidely from the 40s or 50s. I ordered a medium & it was enormous. I only ate a quarter of it. It was REALLY REALLY messy too. Anyway, I'll go back if I'm in a hurry but I won't go out of my way to get back there.

I ran across this restaurant today...it just caught my eye, so I pulled in. I was one of three customers in the store, and there were no less than ten employees behind the counter! There is no indication what to do or were to start, so I asked some random guy and he said he would take my order. They guy seemed confused and stopped me a few times when I was ordering what I wanted on my sub. I then asked if they had oregano, to which he (and another worker) replied "No". I then moved down the line where I noticed a shaker behind the counter with green stuff in it. I asked what it was, and another worker said oregano! I then went back to the first guy, and told him they do have oregano, and would like some on my sub. Again, seemingly flustered. I was then directed to the cash register, and when I got there, the girl said "Hi, welcome to DiBella's, what can I order for you today?" I informed her that I already ordered, and she seemed a little confused and said "Oh...most people order here first, then pick up there food." What...are you kidding me? So anyway, I had ordered a combo which comes with a drink, but when I went to get some iced tea, nothing but water came out. There was a manager right next to the machine, and I told him about it...he just walked over to it, checked it, then seemed to just fade away. No communication to me at all...not one word. So I ended up getting lemonade instead. The food; Surprisingly, my order was accurate, however, I did not like how it was assembled. All the toppings were shoved deep down into the center, and the meats and cheese was put on top of that, so when you bite into it, you get a mouth full of one or the other. And the yellow banana peppers rings I got, most all had the rine center attached, yuck. However, with that being said, the sub had good flavor, in fact, maybe very good. While still not as good as a W.G. Grinders or Tommy's sub, its still good. I only gave two stars because of the confusion, and sub-par service. I might go give them another chance sometime in the future, and if I do, Ill report back here.

So, I had my first DiBella's sandwich today. I chose what I consider the sandwich which says the most about a shop - a meatball sub. Cold cuts type sandwiches are hard to distinguish between shops because there are 2 basic kinds of cold cuts - the cheap kind that low cost sandwich shops use and the more expensive kind that the others use. As a consumer of sandwiches, I don't think that I can tell much difference between the sandwiches from either level. However, ingredients that have a recipe and have to be cooked does have a chance to distinguish options. So I chose the meatball and marinara sandwich, on the "everything" bun. The bun was wonderful - quite tasty even after I had to wait an hour or more before I could eat it. The meatballs were okay. I have had bad meatballs - at, for example, some of those low end places. These are better than that - average, or perhaps a bit above. The marinara is good. There are a variety of toppings and cheeses. Even after my hour trek home, the sandwich was good. I will return to try some of the other varieties - the philly looks good, the italian didn't look bad - hope it doesn't have mayo on it. And there's a roast beef with au jus is good. They also have corned beef, which is nice. I also appreciated Logan, the gentleman who took my order. He was pleasant, helpful, and got the order 100% right. I wish they had pastrami - a good, hot, corned beef and pastrami with swiss would be SO good. Also, as perhaps special offerings, I'd love to see oyster po'boy and muffaletta - on the sesame or everything buns that would be outstanding, and probably would only require a good olive salad recipe. This chain is a great addition to our area.

Forget about the other sub places.Go for the Godfather on everything bread. A buck more than Subway for twice the meat and 4 times as good.
