I have to say based on the reviews I was expecting much more. Staff were friendly. Bar is nice , dining area very boring and could have been anywhere ie nothing special (compared to Pearl) food catfish and spoonbread ,spoonbread was best part of the dish. Scallops were good but nothing special. Bread pudding again good but not memorable!

Ah I love this place! We've been here on a casual evening and have celebrated our anniversary on another night. The food is consistently great and too quality. Service is the best in town. Don't miss the catfish and grits with the greens. The butter and roasted garlic that come with the house bread is the best! We have never had a bad or even a mediocre meal here - only 5 star meals come out of that kitchen! If you are looking for a special night out - this is your place!

Had the seafood soup for starters. Wonderful! Lots of walleye, clam and shrimp. Had the scallops. Delicate, buttery, succulent and perfect.

Have loved the original Cameron's concept for 25 years but recently had an experience that blew me away. My sister and I dined on a Thursday night at Cameron's...no reservation and house was packed as usual. I shared with the assistant manager, Jeni, how my sister had been through a particularly rough 2 months and could we do something special for her (I had no idea what, but was more than expecting to pay for whatever it was)...I suggested a martini might be just the thing, since we knew the food would be off the chain. Five minutes after we were seated, Jeni herself brings 2 pineapple-infused martinis to our table-COMPLIMENTS OF THE HOUSE. Always a fan of Cameron's concepts, though sadly I am no longer in the Columbus area...am now a partner of Cameron's...for life.

My husband and I rarely make it out for dinner, but to celebrate our 44th and 43rd birthdays and his parents' 47th wedding anniversary, we chose to revisit the restaurant we visited on our 1st wedding anniversary 17 years ago. I was a little nervous when I called to make reservations and was told we had our pick of times. Does that mean it's no longer a great place to go for a good meal??? Also a little nervous to be the 1st and only table for about 10 minutes. But the quaint restaurant filled up shortly thereafter and we proceeded to have one of the best meals we've had in years! We had the flatbread, filet mignon, walleye, short ribs, salmon special, warm carrot cake, and lemon gratin. And EVERY bite was delicious! Wine Down Sunday also afforded us two half price bottles of Cab that were wonderful! The service was also great, but I mostly appreciated the sheer quality of excellent, flavorful food! If you haven't been for a while or have never been, GO! Thank you Cameron's Bistro for a perfect evening!

The best filet I have ever had. The price was a little higher than my normal choices but it was worth every penny.

Our go to Cameron Mitchell restaurant. Food is always good. Place is small and great atmosphere. The scallops are best in town. Love the way they serve the bread with fresh garlic cloves to spread. Appetizers are all great too. Definitely try the beef short rib stroganoff. The duck and fried chicken are delicious. Will alway be a go to spot. Service is always grade A! Thanks for keeping standards high.

I came here the other night for a date with my husband because we wanted to try the new menu. The food was still delicious as ever and the service was still top notch. I'm looking forward to being able to enjoy the new cocktail menu once Baby #2 gets here and I'm no longer the DD!

I really really REALLY wanted this restaurant to be what i always imagined it to be. Especially with many of the reviews being so positive. Unfortunately, our experience wasn't all that great or anything close to what the reviews were. First of all, we showed up at the restaurant 20 minutes early for our 7:45 reservation, so we thought we'd grab a drink at the bar beforehand while we waited for the rest of our party. The bar was busy, but not out of control. The problem was that the bar staff was so busy serving the food patrons at the bar and couldn't be bothered by the patrons that did not have seats, but would like a drink while they stood and waited. When someone finally decided to make eye contact- we ordered our drinks. The barmaid's demeanor was very "hurry up, i do not have time to wait for you" so I went ahead and ordered an easy quick vodka tonic to make it easier on her. I was disappointed that my drink mixer was flat--yuck. I let them know this and another barmaid was gracious enough to make me something else. But I had already paid and at this point we were being seated. The second barmaid informed the first of the situation with my drink and i was made to wait 10 extra minutes to adjust the bill rather than just "let it go". How much different could the bill have actually been, especially when 4 drinks came up to 39.00- and 2 were domestic beers?? Uh...I think they got enough out of me. And to add insult to injury- the Cosmopolitan wasn't even good! Not a great start to the evening or first impression. All in all the dinner experience wash't all that impressive or special. The one thing that actually was was the flatbread appetizer. That was very good. But the Chop Chop salad, and the shrimp and grits were nothing special at all. If you are going to serve shrimp as your main protein- PLEASE do not overcook them. It seemed as though they might have been frozen, fully cooked medium size shrimp that they threw in and cooked to the point of rubbery. Pathetic for what is supposed to be a highly regarded restaurant. My husband had the steak frites and wasn't all that impressed. He reports that although it was cooked well, the flavor/seasoning was lacking. Our guests reported the liked the scallops, catfish, and salmon. In fact, my friend thought the scallops were the best she'd had in Columbus. Which I was happy to hear. All in all, I really wanted this restaurant to be better because I've been wanting to eat here since i moved to Columbus in the 90's. Truthfully, I want so badly to like the Cameron Mitchell chain. Unfortunately, so far, we've been disappointed in all of their "higher end" experiences. I guess we'll just save our money and stick with places like Figlio or Moretti's, where they truly care about the quality of the food and experience and not overcharge you for the name.

Always a great choice for dinner. My wife and I in a pinch and without reservations will show up and try to grab a couple spots at the bar. The bar always seems to have some tasty drink specials, and I have never had a bad meal here. They are consistently good for the price. The location is great, but parking can be a bit of challenge depending on the time of night. The atmosphere is the same classy feel you expect from a Cameron Mitchell restaurant, and the service is superb.

My husband and I went to the American Bistro for our Anniversary. We end up in Columbus each year on our anniversary because of a conference. We got to the restaurant a little early and the hostess seated us right away with grace and a beautiful smile. She was so helpful and pleasant, even brought my husband a pair of reading glasses since we forgot ours.there were special touches along with another surprise that I won't give away. They had a nice wine list and our server Ryan knew the wines well. The goat cheese salad was delectable! My husband ordered the sea bass special which was unbelievably delicious. Absolutely heavenly actually. I ordered frute' de' mare which is different ever single place I go. It was good. The seafood fresh but the marinara overpowered it. I probably would not order again but I did eat the whole thing.....that also says something! Nice, romantic evening with my honey and the staff and food made the night even more memorable!

Came here for a quiet birthday dinner last night and I fell in love. I definitely like the "neighborhood" feel here that counters being somewhere like the short north or downtown. Parking is no big deal, and the service is as genuine and attentive as ever. It is definitely a lot smaller than I thought, but again, I kind of like that about Cameron's. The hostess was very sweet, checked our coats, and seated us promptly. A full bar is available as you walk in, with the small dining area to the left. You can see some of the chefs cooking and every now and then a big flame will pop up in the back of the room. The food was great - as all Cameron Mitchell restaurants can boast a great menu. After splitting the calamari appetizer, my date and I both devoured our entrees. He got the filet mignon medium rare and I got the salmon. Both were deliciously prepared. The staff is incredibly observant... almost eerily so. We never told anyone it was my boyfriend's birthday, and I didn't even bring him a gift to open. I just gave him a card at the table after dinner. However, the hostess suddenly came over with a pink rose in a little vase and told him happy birthday. And our waitress informed him of a complimentary dessert. He ordered the carrot cake. He loved it. I took a bite, and it was definitely delicious, but almost a little too sweet for me. Overall a really nice experience.

Our experience was marred by an excessive wait for a table. The management was poorly organized and slow to react to what appeared to be a case of severe overbooking. This used to be our favorite local restaurant but it will be a awhile before we visit again.

We went for a birthday dinner on Easter and found that there was only a buffet option because it was Easter. It turned out that we were VERY lucky that this was when we went. It was wonderful. The service was attentive but not hovering The food on the buffer was very good and certainly not the usual buffet food. All items were from their menu. It was fun to try things we might not have tried otherwise. They also had small plates of other options from their menu. These were great too. We will be back for sure.

No reason to get to long winded here, simply a excellent boarding on old school (plenty of gray hairs) American style bistro.

Came here for our anniversary dinner--service was outstanding. Oue waitress was extremely friendly and seemed to anticipate our needs well. We got the flatbread appetizer with prosciutto and crispy onions which was delicious. I had the twin filets wrapped in bacon that was cooked perfectly and garnished with a balsamic salad and sauce that went extremely well with the steak. My fiancee got the walleye but was disappointed with because it was fried even though the description didn't mention this, and the fish was fairly bland and dry. Fortunately, or waitress picked up on the disappointment and complied with our request for more sauce for the fish, along with making the meal complimentary. A manager even stopped by to offer an alternative entree which we turned down a we were looking forward to dessert. They gave us free dessert for our anniversary--a decent chocolate cake. Overall we had a welcoming and friendly experience here!

I really like Cameron's it's just in an "out of the way place" for me. I had Sunday dinner here a couple weeks ago with a few of my friends. The only problem I have with Cameron's is that it's always REALLY loud--I'm not sure why. The service also tends to be on the slow side...you will wait for drinks here, and wait, and wait, and wait for refills, and wait for more refills...and you will leave with a sore neck from having to turn your head so many times toward the bar to see what's going on. It's been like this for years, and never fails that each time I go here drinks are slow to come by. I suggest ordering two at a time. This time around I had the chop-chop salad, that has bacon, eggs, gorgonzola, red onion, and lots of other good stuff. This is one of my favorite salads, and a good salad for someone like me who hates salad to order. They give you bread with a whole bulb of roasted garlic for spreading that's a nice touch and something I always look forward to. If you're a virgin to roasted garlic just squeeze the whole bulb and the cloves pop right out. Knowing how to do it the right way can really impress a hot date and increases your chances for a happy ending. Next up I had the walleye which is just perfect. It's fried up in a ritz cracker crust in a shallot cream sauce :-P. It's usually served with some crab chunks on top, but this time I didn't see any, so I'm not sure if they changed it, ran out of crab or were just being cheap and didn't think I'd notice. But I notice these things. One good thing about CM restaurants is that they let you sub out sides---I got rid of the gross broccolini and subbed in collard greens that were delicious, nice and smokey with lots of bacon. For dessert I had the bread pudding--it was good but nothing special. Other good things here: crab cake appetizer, calamari, goat cheese ravioli, veggie plate, scallops and fried chicken. Their filet is just so-so to me, so don't get it here. I'd also stay away from the shrimp and grits--if you've lived in the south or traveled there enough to have real shrimp and grits this will underwhelm you. And, the carrot cake here is great. That's it, also love the atmosphere. Worth the money, and for the most part consistent.

Have never had a bad meal at Cameron's American Bistro. And tonight didn't disappoint. Celebrated my husbands birthday tonight w/ our daughter from Cincinnati. 6 0z filets & short ribs, prepared to perfection. Service was pleasant, good advice on the wine, manager stopped by to check on us. Will definitely be back.

We were there for the "grand re-opening." The restaurant is lively, meaning noisy for us. The interior decorating, by contrast, is neutral, or bland. The food however was another story. I had steak which I don't ordinarily eat out except at steak houses. The meat was of exceptional quality, and was actually cooked, as ordered, medium rare. I don't recall the sides served, but I do recall enjoying them. We shared the chopped salad, which they split onto separate plates. The salad was good, but not entirely "chopped." This is definitely a restaurant to return to, but not with a group unless you are content to talk with only those next to you. I confess that I am an older patron, so the "noise issue" may not bother the younger set.

My husband and I had a giftcard so we decided to come here as we had never been. We sat in the bar for a drink because we arrived early for our 7:00 reservation. Both bartenders were wonderful and our drinks were very good. I had a special Elderflower Martini, that was suggested to me. Delicious. She asked if we wanted a starter, so we ordered the Crispy Fried Calamari. The hostess actually came shortly after to tell us our table was ready, and the bartender told us she would bring the starter to our table. We were seated and the server came a moment later. She brought us water, and we ordered a bottle of wine. She (her name was Justina) was very knowledgeable about the menu and the wine list. The bartender brought our starter, which was the best calamari I've ever had. My husband was going to get a salad, but after Justina named vichyssoise as a special, ordered that. He really enjoyed it. I had the shrimp bisque, which was listed as a starter. It arrived in a large bowl and was enough for a meal. It really filled me up, so I only took a few bites of my entree, which was Cameron's Walleye (with mashed potatoes and broccolini). It was just as good reheated the next day. My husband was very satisfied with the Steak Frites entree. The dessert menu was very tempting, but we passed, to save a few bucks. We had a nice experience, but for the cost, we will probably venture to other places before we come back.

Ate here last night and it was ok. I had a glass of the Syrah-Shriaz blend but it came in a rather smallish glass, a white wine glass, not a larger red wine glass, so that was a bit off putting, but that's fine. The lobster perogies for appetizer were appealing, although I thought it wasnt rich/creamy enough, but perhaps that is my personal taste. There wasnt that much lobster, but was decent. The warm bread with roasted garlic and whipped butter was nice, but if you're going to give roasted garlic, you have to give olive oil and balsamic vinegar, right?! oh well. Entree was the short rib beef stroganoff, where the beef was nice and tender, but wasn't cut to suit a human mouth, so i had to do some cutting. The noodles were good, but definitely overcooked and not al dente. I did, however, enjoy the different tastes with each fork full as the garlic, mushroom, and spinach definitely changed the taste with each bite to keep things interesting. Dessert was their special of the day, something about a raspberry ice cream with white chocolate and candied pecans. That was good, but the whipped cream was not sweet enough for me. Overall, a good experience, definitely a good value as the prices are relatively lower than what I would have expected for the attention to plating, ambience, and general target consumer they are going for. For the price, you're getting good value, but if they paid attention to a bit more detail in the food, I think it could be spectacular.

My favorite place to eat Columbus though I do not come here often. My dad would occasionally get gift cards for here, so we're more than happy to go. Otherwise, it's on the pricey side. The service is pretty good. They're knowledgeable about the menu and are friendly. The food here is delicious. I especially love the roasted garlic they present with the bread. My favorite appetizer is the Crispy Fried Calamari because of the red pepper jam. The Portabella French Fries were interesting and tasty. My favorite dish is the Grilled Fillet Mignon. It's an excellent combination of mashed potatoes, green beans with a red wine sauce garnished with crispy onion rings. The steak itself is seasoned well and cooked perfectly. I've also had a fish dish here that was delicious. Unfortunately, it was a smaller portion than other dishes, and it seems to not be on the menu anymore. This is my go to for special occasions.

Cameron's is a great restaurant. It is a little out of the way in a strip mall next door to a Wendy's, but it's well worth finding it. The restaurant has a nice ambiance, although we did notice it can get pretty loud in there. The staff was very friendly and professional throughout our visit. We were greeted and seated promptly, having made a reservation, and they checked our coats for us. The meal started off with bread brought to the table. My husband had the regular offering of honey wheat bread, while I received the gluten free Hawaiian rolls, which were really delightful. Butter and a whole bulb of roasted garlic accompanied the bread. The roasted garlic was a very nice touch, and was perfectly cooked to allow it to easily spread on the bread. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes featuring a number of different proteins and preparations - everything from Asian-style dishes like the duck or the salmon to shrimp and grits to scallops, lamb, and filets. My husband had the Caesar Salad and the Heritage Farm Pork Chop. He reported that the meat was tender and juicy and enjoyed the accompanying red skin potatoes and roasted veggies. I found that the gluten-free menu was very generous - I had multiple dishes from which to choose, but finally settled on the Ponzu Salmon. The salmon was delicious and came with sticky rice and stir fried veggies, all over a flavorful citrus sauce. The chefs were very accommodating as, in addition to requesting the gluten free preparation, I asked for the salmon to be prepared well instead of their usual medium. It came out perfectly. Portion size was good - we both brought home leftover containers. The dessert and coffee menu had a nice variety, and offered two gluten free options, including what the server told us was the restaurant's signature dessert, the Meyer Lemon Gratin, which we decided to split. The gratin has the texture of a cheesecake and comes with a lovely lemon cream and fresh raspberries. It was a really fantastic dessert, very fluffy and delicious. I don't usually order dessert, but I would definitely have this one again!

My husband and I went last night to Cameron's. It was quite tasty. My husband ordered the lamb and I ordered the short ribs. Both were 5/5 star meals. The restaurant is quite small, so expect to wait. We sat while awaiting our table and ordered an appetizer and drinks. The lobster perogies were a bit pricy, but good. The bar tender was super friendly and if it wasn't for my husband sitting on the corner with little room, we would've eaten at the bar. I highly recommend.

First, get the goat cheese beignets. Don't ask questions, just do it. This is the most "genuine" of the Cameron Mitchell restaurants-- a neighborhood vibe, intimate, and out-of-the-way. Eating here feels like you know a special secret. For us, it's where we eat when we don't know where we want to eat, but we know we want something fresh and full of flavor. I had the Blackened Alaskan Halibut, and it was seasoned perfectly. Soft and flaky inside, with a little spicy crunch on the outside. Good portion size, creative but not over-the-top sides (succotash and andouille hash). Great place to go on a weeknight with the parents or in-laws.

Location is in a strip mall but the restaurant inside is nice. Service wasn't bad just not great, we poured our own wine, I'd put it up there with a Denny's. They could do with sprucing up the staff, and certainly the staff look like the overly enjoy their food, and their outfits if this is fine dining need to reflect that. Kind of an interesting night, although the restaurant was busy it did not have any atmosphere, felt like there was no one present. Wine list is limited but passable, I don't remember seeing a bottle above $100 which is not an issue but the quality was very mid-range. No major stand-outs either in quality or in price on the list. For appetizers we ordered the calamari and the lobster perogies. Calamari and its sauce was king of blah. The perogies were buried under a small mound of vegetables, again not memorable and really lacking any distinct taste. The entrees - the lamb two of us ordered, one well done and the other medium rare looked the same - again just okay. The standout for us was the brownie, we asked them to remove all the crap they had with it - ice cream etc. and just serve it with fresh fruit. Having the dessert as we ordered with our wine choice was a great call. For what we got and the price you pay I can't imagine rushing back.

One of my favorite spots in Columbus. I've been a fan for 25 years! Love the Summer Walleye special. Die for the catfish, spoon read and greens.... And the deserts are fabulous. Ask for Matt!

I've been often and finally have decided to add a review. The customer service is always top notch and consistency is key for me. The food was what I've come to expect from the Columbus-based restaurant group, so that alone doesn't keep me coming back, as other properties are closer to my neighborhood. The staff here is wonderful and I always feel like lingering a bit longer with my dinner companion when I'm here. The specials have never been that "special" but I've developed favorites from the menu so I'm never feel like I'm missing out. I'd like to see some additional vegetable dishes that are more interesting than the standard sides. The bar, although crowded at times, is cozy and friendly. The bar staff is incredible and many times I wish I could take them with me to other establishments to replace the lousy folks I encounter all too often.

Excellent service, nice wine, scotch and port list, Food flavorful and well presented. My pork chop was just perfect,. We also had walleye, scallops and short ribs which were equal in high quality and enjoyable flavor. Friendly helpful service. They presented a rose to the table next to us that was celebrating an anniversary. If lived in Columbus this place would be on my regular list.

I had a nice dinner at Cameron's on Monday. It sits in a small strip center in Linworth and offers the quiet ambiance I expect of a nice neighborhood joint. The layout, lighting, and restrooms all get a thumbs up. It is restaurant week in Columbus and they had a nice menu. For starters, I tried a crabcake and the chopped salad both were excelent. The main course was a pork chop, which was cooked perfectly. The sauce was almost too simple, though good. For dessert, I chose the carrot cake, which was fantastic. Warm and rich and velvety good. The service was competent, though the server seemed to be having an off day, which happens. I had been wanting to try Cameron's for a long time and am glad I did. They met my expectations.

Decided to try Cameron's for restaurant week with a group last night, we started out with seven but as our reservation came up we were five. Sadly, that meant they had saved us the large round table in the middle of the entire restaurant. I won't deny that I was a bit shocked at the size, having gone to other Cameron Mitchell restaurants this was almost half the seating room (it was his first restaurant so maybe he wasn't so ambitious at the time?). We all selected a fixed-price meal from the menu. I had the chop-chop salad, the hoisin glazed salmon, and the warm chocolate cake. The chop-chop salad was nothing to write home about, just your typical salad loaded with an array of toppings (asparagus, hard boiled eggs, gorgonzola, etc.). As for the salmon, it was absolutely delicious, it came with a side of snap peas, carrots, and pineapple infused rice. I devoured the thing. My friends tried the herb roasted chicken and one found it to be a bit dry, although the mashed potatoes were fantastic. And another tried the pork chop and said that it was amazing. Then came dessert. I must say I am a dessert junkie, especially when it comes to chocolate cake. I'm used to Cameron's java lava cup at the fish market (which they were kind enough to take off the menu...). Needless to say I expected great things from their warm chocolate cake. The menu highlighted that it came with a scoop of Johnson's vanilla ice cream and white chocolate whipped cream. When it came out it was plated beautifully... Then I tried it, not exactly what I had hoped for. It was good, don't get me wrong, but it didn't live up to my expectations. My girlfriends enjoyed it, but they agreed that it wasn't as sweet and rich as it should have been. For the $25 a meal asking price I wasn't completely satisfied. The actual menu is limited so I'm not sure if I'll be returning, I think I'll stick to the fish market for now.

My husband took me to Cameron's American Bistro for our first wedding anniversary. A friend had recommended it to him as being the best Cameron Mitchell restaurant in town and it certainly lived up to expectations. Though it does not look like much from the outside, the interior is beautifully decorated and inviting. We decided on the Parma Prosciutto Flatbread for an appetizer, which was delicious. The fresh garlic that accompanied the bread was a nice touch. I ordered the Goat Cheese Ravioli for my entree and it was fantastic. The sauce alone was superb. Our server, Rachel, was super knowledgeable and friendly. She even comped us a free dessert because it was our anniversary. We split the Meyer Lemon Gratin, which again, was excellent. All in all, a fantastic experience. We walked out of Cameron's completely stuffed and satisfied.

With one exception, I have always had fabulous meals here. In fact, I come here every year for my birthday, and it's always wonderful. However, on a recent weeknight, my sister and I had an extremely mediocre meal here -- even dishes that I've loved here before were not up to par. However, as always, the wait staff and the manager were extremely professional and helpful about it. The staff and management here are more like what you would experience from "professional" restaurant staff in NYC. Attentive, extremely accommodating, seemingly intuitive. In spite of my one disappointing experience, I will definitely be back. This is still my favorite hidden gem!

Amazing food, drink and atmosphere. It does get a little loud but that is just the nature of the place. This is one of the most consistent restaurants I know of and we are never disappointed. "Wine down Sunday" is a great time to go and share s bottle. The scallops are my favorite thing on the menu and best in town!

Took my wife for her birthday. Everything was great and the staff gave her a rose. I was surprised that we had to wait 5 minutes after making a reservation on a week night. The place was busy but in a good way.

At the suggestion of Helene at Saks, I took my husband to dinner here following my appointment. I was completely blown away by all the aspects of this bistro style restaurant. Intimate small place, great cocktails, excellent attentive service and best of all, delicious food. When we move here, this will be a go to restaurant for us. As someone who appreciates a non chain venue, this place is ideal when you need a night out.

I've had mixed results with Cameron Mitchell's places. On one hand, M is my favorite restaurant in town, and the default choice for special occasions. On the other hand, I'm not a fan of Cap City, and some of the other places like Molly Woo's and Marcella's have been good but didn't blow me away. Cameron's now joins M on my list of favorite places in town. I really like its low-key location (not downtown or in a mall like his other restaurants), and the small interior has modern decor. The food was the star of the show, however. I started with a delicious spinach salad with candied pecans, orange basil dressing and "goat cheese mousse" (a reviewer commented on the number of dishes that contain goat cheese, but I don't see how that could possibly be bad). My wife, who had a different salad, and I both agreed they were two of the best salads we'd ever had. My entree was an Asian-inspired salmon with a butter-sriracha sauce, ginger-glazed carrots and snap peas, and pineapple rice. Perfectly cooked and mouth-wateringly good. I was somewhat disappointed that the sriracha wasn't more prevalent in the sauce, but I had no complaints. My wife got the scallops, which were nicely presented with truffle chips and mashed potatoes. A connoisseur of scallops, my wife declared the dish to be the best restaurant meal she'd ever eaten! For dessert, I tried the meyer lemon gratin. I didn't make the "gratin = cheese" connection until I tasted it, so it wasn't what I was expecting, but it was delicious... a tangy lemon cheesecake with a cottage-cheese-like texture, loaded with lemon zest and caramelized on top, served with a thin cinnamon cookie with hazelnuts. Scrumptious. My wife had the peanut butter chocolate pot de creme, which tasted like a rich Reese's pudding. Neither of us could finish the rich desserts after the huge and filling entrees. Extra star for the excellent service. Our server Rachel took great care of us, and the restaurant gave my wife the dessert of her choice free on her birthday, plus a single rose in a vase. Very nice touch. We'll return to this excellent neighborhood restaurant.

Everything, from the heirloom tomato salad, to every one of our entrees (the pork chop, the blackened fish entree, the duck, and an Italian mixed seafood pasta entree) were spectacular. I have eaten here many times, and have never been disappointed. I recommend Cameron's American Bistro without hesitation. Be sure to try the Red Whiskey!

In the interest of full disclosure I'll say that I have sort of a love hate relationship with Cameron Mitchell Restaurants. On the one hand I love some of the things Cameron Mitchell has done for the Columbus Culinary Community and often times they have some great food. On the other hand, even for a small corporate chain, they sometimes can be a bit too "chain restauranty" for me in the bad sense. Not that I have anything against corporate restaurants (I work for a very corporate place myself), it's just there are certain things that often happen with chain restaurants (especially fine dining) that I don't necessarily like. Rambling aside I won't don't hold that against them for purposes of reviews as my review of one of their other places will attest. If theres one thing I've come to expect consistently from different Cameron Mitchell Restaurants it's awesome customer service. This was probably the only time I've ever been to one and not experienced that. From the start things weren't good. The hostess was visibly distracted when we came in. I could accept a hostess at a casual place doing her homework at the hostess stand, but when part of what you're paying for is a dining experience I don't think you should have to wait for the hostess to put down her latest reading assignment to get sat. From there our server seemed to have better things to do than check on her tables (all two of them). I'm not demanding when it comes to service, but I was a little irritated at how long we had to wait for her to come back just to see if we were ready to order. She was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu though. Speaking of the menu, I did get a chuckle out of the fact that goat cheese was used on eight or nine different menu items, if my memory serves me correctly. I'm a big fan of chevre, but geez man was there a sale? My wife and I ended up splitting the lobster pierogies to start, then I had the duck and she had the short rib stroganoff. I really love a well executed duck breast and it's not something you can get anywhere you go, so I was really looking forward to my dinner. All of the dishes were presented very beautifully. The pierogies were very good, a perfect portion to share just to get your appetite going. The entrees though pretty on the plate, left a lot to be desired on the pallet. The duck was cooked to the temperature as I had asked, but it was pretty clear that the cook barely seared it if at all before tossing it into the oven. There was hardly any crispiness to the skin at all, it was very chewy. The fried rice was more like sticky rice and the orange sauce was bland to put it nicely. The only thing really right about the dish was the baby bok choy was perfectly cooked. My wife enjoyed the stroganoff although she said and I tasted and confirmed that the beef was a bit chewy for braised short rib. As a result of not being overly impressed with our meals we had plenty of room to give dessert a try. I am a fan of all things lemon and creamy so I had to try the meyer lemon gratin. While I'd like to nit pick the fact that they call it a gratin and there was no sort of nicely browned crust on top of it, I can't. Sadly the dish, while basically just a dome shaped lemon cheesecake was far to delicious for me to get too hung up on proper nomenclature. After dessert we got the check. The check was what you'd expect for a dinner for two with one drink each, a shared app and dessert at a nice fine dining restaurant. Problem was the food and service just weren't up to that level. It was a slow weeknight, but that still no reason to slack off. Food should be coming out perfect on a slow night and the only service complaints should be things like "my server was so bored they wouldn't leave us alone" not "my server can't be found" or "why is the sous chef standing at the FOH side of the pass reading something while trying to coax a drop of gatorade out of his frozen bottle" (yes that happened) All these things added up to a very disappointing experience.

We had a delicious dinner here the other night. Service was friendly and prompt and Rick made some great dinner recommendations. I ordered the fried chicken which was I think the hit of the night. I did share and everyone raved about it. Other good dinners were the short ribs and lamb. The steaks seemed to be good but not great. We didn't have room for dessert there but got the apple crisp to go. It was just okay, I would probably skip next time or get one of the other desserts which all sounded really good. Overall I would recommend and will return.

The service was enthusiastic to say the least. Our server was quite attentive, a bit comically so at times. :) The first taste to arrive was the bread. Beautiful, hot from the oven, perfect texture, served with roasted garlic and butter, it was hard not to eat too much of it. For appetizers we had portabella fries and lobster pierogies, both of which were lovely in presentation. The pierogies were a really interesting tasty dish, but the mushroom "fries" were not that exciting and became soggy quickly. My companions ordered salads (the spinach and the goat cheese) that were lovely and fresh. the ingredients seemed well chosen. For entree I had the fried chicken which was heavenly! the boneless meat (breast and thigh I think) was perfectly cooked, the batter was perfectly crisped, and the accompanying potatoes and slaw were wonderful complements. Dessert was the evening special: apple pie with cinnamon ice cream and it was so delicious I forgot to notice until later that the ice cream was not very strongly cinnamon flavored. I think this is a great place to take out of town guests when a drive to the city is not in the cards.

A- OK... I went in with a party of 6. We had a reservation, so seating was prompt. The waited was very attentive and professional. The only thing I had in mind was good food. The appetizer, calamari and a flat bread dish, was alright. The calamari had honey drizzled at the bottom. It was a new thing for me to eat calamari with honey, and the result was that it is a good pairing! My dinner was the duck with fried rice and orange reduction for the sauce. The meal was very chinese influenced. The fried rice was way TOO greasy. The meal was alright. My other party got all the different entrees, and I could see that the presentation is very well done. However, the taste is kind of "safe and bland". The dessert were the strawberry shortcake and the bread pudding. It was mediocre. Nothing to cream about. Enough said, it was a very pleasant environment to bring old folks because of their "safe" palates. I didn't think this restaurant is that "bistro" as its' name stated. A- OK.....

My husband and I decided to try Cameron's when my brother-in-law and his gf came to visit. He said he wanted American food, so we thought this would be something different. Cameron's is tucked back in Worthington, so I never would have ventured there had I not found it on Yelp! It's a great meal! It's definitely a splurge meal- both for your diet and your wallet, but it's worth it. We started with the goat cheese beignets, portabella "french fries" and shrimp bisque soup. All awesome! The goat cheese beignets were lightly fried with a marinara sauce, the portabella fries are mushrooms in a french fry fashion and the shrimp bisque is rich, decadent and enough to share. My husband had the filet, I had the steak frites, my bro-in-law had the shrimp and grits and his gf got the moscovy duck. The steaks were cooked well. I really liked the vegetables that came under my steak and the fries. My husband's mashed potatoes and bro-in-law's goat cheese grits were also tasty. The gf liked her duck. For dessert, we shared the warm chocolate cake and the New Orleans bread pudding. I was stuffed by this point and normally only have a few bites of dessert, but these were so amazing, I wanted to keep eating. Overall, it was pricey, but everything was delicious. I was impressed. I will definitely be back!

The wife and I had a great date night here. Cameron's is different than most of the other Cameron Mitchel restaurants around town in that it's clientele is a little more...residential? It just has this vibe like it's the place that the people that live around it come to as their go-to dinner. It's also an older, quieter crowd. Compared to Cap City or his places at Easton or the Short North, this one is slower, more mature. If Cap City is a Toyota, and M is a Mercedez, then Cameron's is a Buick. Anyway...Saturday night date with the wife. We looked online at the Cameron Mitchel restaurants' website. Initially, we were going to go to Marcella's or Martini's in the Short North. The waiting times for tables was past 10PM, according to the online reservation form. Cameron's could seat us at 8:30PM (it was 7:45PM when we looked). We passed up the online form and went directly there. We had a 20 min. wait at the bar (I don't know why we didn't just take the online reservation). At the bar, the service was super. Once seated in the full (but not uncomfortably crowded) dining room, we asked for a starter dish of lobster pierogies. They were awesome! There were only 3 pierogies (for $10, I wouldn't mind one or two more) but they were buried in this...lobster gravy-salad? It had diced asparagus, corn, and lobster bits. Hit the spot. If you get it, don't let the server take the plate until they've brought you bread. The gravy makes a bitchin' dipping sauce. I didn't initially order a salad, but the server did a very sly "and a chopped salad for you, too" after my wife ordered her's. It was very good, just the right dressing. Better was the bread. It comes with a whipped butter and a whole head of roasted garlic. Somehow Cameron knew my wife's weak spot. For entrees the wife had the shrimp pasta and I had the duck. I've never had duck. I'm not sure how to put this, but there needs to be a word for something that's technically good...well prepared... but that you still don't like. If there's a word for it, that was my experience with the duck. It comes with a rice-based Asian preparation. It tasted like very good Chinese take out (lots of peanuts, allergy people!). One bite into the meat, I said to my wife, "You know, this is well made, but I think I just don't like duck." It's very much like dark-meat turkey. You either have to like or you don't. Still, I finished the whole dish. Also on the list of things that were good, but of a different taste than my own was the server. She was super polite and very professional. Absolutely nothing wrong with her or the job she did. I'm just not a..."happy" person. She was almost a little too nice for my liking. Just little things, like how they don't just ask, "Do you want your beer in a glass?" but instead it's, "May I pour your beer into a glass?" I'm sure she's excellent according to the restaurant's requirements for customer service, but every now and then, I just want to see a little bit of the person's personality come through. Very good experience. Highly recommended. ***Update*** I just read the other reviews and it looks like several others have had virtually identical visits: awesome pierories, bubbly servers... One note I want to echo: if you do get the duck (in any one of apparently several preparations over the past few reviews, definitely ask for a steak knife.

Here's a little known fact... Nearly every former and current CMR employee (myself included) will tell you that this gem is one of, if not their favorite Cameron Mitchell restaurant. It's a small, cozy restaurant that doesn't look like much from the outside (surrounded by a gas station and a Wendy's I believe?), but when you walk in, you are pleasantly surprised. The food and service have always been outstanding here - I think they have some of the best servers - many of them have served at Cameron's for years, or have worked at other CMR restaurants. Never had a bad meal here, that's for sure. So, if you are wanting a nice evening out, something different from the norm, stop in Cameron's. You'll be glad you did.

Pluses: Great service, generous glasses of wine, and delicious crusty bread to start. Room is beautifully lit, and the open kitchen is festive. No televisions are present in the main dining room as the bar is kept separate from the main dining room. Drawbacks: The food was competent, but nothing memorable. Only one chicken dish on the menu and it was fried chicken. My boyfriend had the lamb, which was good. However, the mashed potatoes were dry and crumbly. Overall, it was okay, and we had a good time, but nothing I would rush back to.

I am in Columbus helping with a seminar and our host invited us to go to Cameron's. One deciding factor for her is the delicious selections of gluten free menu choices. Our server was awesome, well informed and enthusiastic about the menu. She helped justify the cost where the dishes might lack. Dishes were well presented and quantity was sufficient, although I felt it was a bit pricey but at least the quality was there to bear the cost.

Cameron's American Bistro, a Cameron Mitchell Restaurant, lives up to the name. I had the pleasure of sampling multiple items on the menu, including 3 of the appetizers. Having a party of nine, we were given the biggest table in the center of the room. Upon being seated, I ordered a bottle of Cabernet, and my family and friends proceeded to order various martini's. When we received our drinks, I was not only given the bottle of wine, but they accidentally made me a dirty martini. This seemed to make up for the more than normal waiting time. We ordered two Crispy Fried Calamari, a Maryland Crabcake, and a Parma Proscuitto Flatbread. The felt that the calamari and the crabcakes were very good but lacked in size and were quickly decimated by the large party. The flatbread seemed to be a favorite of many. For my entry I ordered the Lamb Porterhouse, medium-rare, which was delicious. I also tasted the filet and scallops with satisfaction.

My wife and I had dinner there last night. We'd only been there once before and that was maybe 7 or 8 years ago. My only recollection from the previous trip was that it was well-done, but so over-the-top eclectic that I couldn't find anything normal that I wanted to eat--a little too foo-foo, if you know what I mean. Granted, this memory is coming from fuzzy brain cells. Flash forward to 2009 and we checked out the menu online and noted that everything looked yummy so we called in to a very nice woman to reserve a table for two. She asked if there was a special occasion we were celebrating, and all I could think of was, "It's Friday night!" But that was a nice touch for her to ask. We were greeted by a trio of smiling faces and quickly had our table in a very busy restaurant. It appeared that the place had been redecorated since our previous experience, so I'm guessing they made some changes several years ago. Or else I can't remember ... My wife had a glass of wine while I ordered a double Glenlivet. I received an ample pour of golden liquid--perrrfect. (I can't tell you how many times I've ordered Glenlivet on the rocks at other restaurants and it comes out a much lighter color than it should be--meaning they water down their booze (grrr!)) We decided to split a spinach salad that came out just right, albeit a small serving for each since we'd split it. But that's okay--we didn't want that much. My wife ordered the shrimp & grits and loved it. I was jonesing for some beef, so I ordered the steak frites which came out a perfect medium as ordered. It was a slightly smaller strip and came with a small amount of vegetables, mostly asparagus, and the frites (aka french fries) standing up decoratively. The steak was very, very good; not quite as good as a Ruth's Chris, but I'm not going to ding them on it one bit. On to dessert. My wife ordered the bread pudding and some decaf coffee and just loved it. I ordered the meyer lemon gratin, which is basically a tangy lemon cheesecake with some raspberries around it and a decorative hazlenut cookie that looks more like a flat piece of melted sugar that's hardened up (and tastes yummy). Thumbs up all around on the desserts--they were terrific, even though we didn't need them and that we ended up feeling stuffed. In the end, all of the food was terrific. Service was stellar. When we asked about the decor which seemed new to us, our waitress explained that she'd worked there something like 6 or 7 years (there's a clue of goodness for you). She came by at the exact right intervals, was genuinely cheery (which is contagious!) and efficiently took great care of us. I tipped her at the 20% level. I guess my old preconceptions needed to be replaced. This is a nice choice and one that we'll begin coming back to. It's on the pricey end, and would make a great place to celebrate an event. I was going to say it probably isn't the kind of place to bring kids (we saw none there), but they do have a kids menu.

Food was great! Service was good. I had the orange blossom cocktail and it was delicious! Caesar salad was just whatever and a little overdressed. But pretty good. The shrimp and grits were delicious and I ate every bite. My boyfriend had shrimp bisque, which was outstanding; and the black and blue tilapia. Pretty good. I really expected the chocolate cake to be tastier. Service was attentive, even the manager asked me if I needed anything. Honestly didn't notice any music, but thought the restaurant looked nice with all the candles lit. We had a great experience, and would definitely come back!

Gotta L O V E warm bread - 5 Stars !! Appetizer was goat cheese "Beignets" - Tomato coulis, aged ricotta, basil oil - 2 Stars. I would not order this again, it was waaayyyyyy toooo muuucchhh cheese. For $8 bucks, it just wasn't worth it. The chop chop salad was very good. My entree was the Braised Beef Short Rib Stroganoff - Baby portabella, spinach, caramelized shallots, pancetta, sour cream, pappardelle - this was tasty but didn't knock my socks off. I took the New Orleans Bread Pudding with Vanilla bean anglaise and raspberry coulis home for dessert. I wasn't impressed. When I'm shelling out $40+ for dinner (total bill), I want to walk out feeling I got my $$$ worth and that didn't happen here.

A glaring eyesore in Cameron Mitchell's list of restaurants, Cameron's American Bistro offers ordinary fare like the herb roasted chicken and pork chops. Twin and I must have picked a bad night to try out CAB as we were there along with a party of twenty. Needless to say service was extremely slow--10 minutes for beverages, another 20 for bread that was still baking, and an additional 40 for our dishes to arrive at our table. Our server looked exhausted and the restaurant had just opened an hour ago! Even though I'm not a vegetarian, I settled with the bistro vegetarian plate because it sounded really good on the menu. Twin ordered the roasted chicken rigatoni. Both dishes weren't atrocious, but they weren't exactly stellar either. The pesto sauce on my plate had enough flavor, but it was simply lacking in amount. While the top layers were crispy and warm, I noticed that the bottom half layer were anything but warm. Twin's chicken, however, was a tad dry making the rest of the dish less than enjoyable. Having been to all of the other Cameron Mitchell restaurants (minus Marcella's), I was expecting the same type of quality and service. But, alas, neither could be found at CAB. The dessert menu didn't look entirely enticing either. I mean, strawberry cheesecake and chocolate covered peanut butter pie?! Creativity was clearly not key at CAB. Twin and I were already placing bets as we were finishing up our meal as to how long it would take for the server to bring us our check. 25 minutes, so it was closer to my 30-minute time frame than twin's 15-minute. CAB is definitely pricey for the quality that you get, and service is not up to par. The atmosphere was dark and rather stuffy. I don't plan on coming back.

Eh. I was excited about trying this place out; however, the food was fair; eh not very good. I had the lamb porterhouse, I asked for medium rare, it came out medium to well done. It was very small portion and not very good, I wish I had ordered something else, like the fried chicken, too bad. The potatoes on the side were nice and cheesy however, they were not worth 25 bucks. I don't think I will return. I just can't get excited about this place. I haven't had the greatest experiences at Cameron Restaurants. It also did not help that the place was freezing cold.

Last night, Greg and I went on our 'free' date. We took a bunch of those gift cards that we've had laying around the house forever and finally did something with them. The night started with dinner at Cameron's American Bistro. This is one Cameron Mitchell Restaurant that neither of us had ever been to. Really awkward location in a mini strip mall. Parking was easy, though the lot was small. We were overly greeted by not one, but four people at the hostess station. We had made reservations, so getting seated was no problem. We snagged a snug corner booth that was very comfortable. The tables were close, not awkwardly so but close enough that you could spy on what your neighbors were having for dinner. The interior was nice and warm with an autumnal color scheme and fresh lilies everywhere. Up front was an expansive view of the kitchen. The kitchen lit up the dining room several times that night with fire flares. We started with drinks. I got a Hot Buttered Rum that was amazing. Greg got the Sam Adams Winter Lager (only two draft beer selections the other being Columbus Pale Ale). Greg's beer came in a glass shaped like a rocket. The size of the glass proved dysfunctional when Greg had to tip his head at a neck-breaking angle to get the last few gulps out of the bottom. I recommend they switch to a run-of-the-mill Pilsner. I got the calamari. Greg is weird about food, so I had the appetizer all to myself. It was very good, served atop honey with a chunky horseradish dipping sauce and two spears of lightly Panko crusted zucchini. The calamari itself wasn't the best I've ever had (as that honor goes to sister restaurant Martini), still, it was very good. The complimentary bread was a crusty sourdough that was soft on the inside. It was served with butter and a whole head of roasted garlic. The bread was okay. It did leave little hard remnants on the caps of my teeth. Greg got a salad - Casaer no anchovies, as always. The salad was wimpy. The lettuce was limp, and the croutons had to have been store bought. I like my croutons soggy; I let them soak up the dressing. Greg likes his crispy. These croutons were neither. They were just stale and funny tasting, and they left a bad taste in my mouth. For our main course, I got the Roasted Indiana Duck, and Greg got the Herb Roasted Chicken. I had never had duck before. This was all dark meat and very crispy skin. It had a nice fatty quality and was good and moist. The two legs were served on top a sweet chili glaze. I really liked the glaze for the first few bites, but it wasn't long before the sweetness became too much - it was on every bite. The duck came with roasted veggies (carrots, zucchini, squash, and mushrooms) that were cooked perfectly. I also got a side of mashed potatoes, again with the horseradish flavor - very nice. Greg's chicken was well-seasoned with a lemon-pepper mix. It was topped with a red wine vinegar (not noted on the menu). Greg hates vinegar, so that was a bit of a letdown. Both bird were served on the bone (well, with one bone sticking out of each hunk of meat); the bones made it a little awkward to eat. Also, the waiter gave Greg a steak knife, but I had to make do with a butter knife - not sure what that was all about. No desserts for us. I was so stuffed that I had to have half of my meal boxed. Throughout the night, our waiter was very attendant - too attendant. He started to annoy me. Every time he went past, he would check in on us. I could barely talk to Greg. The waiter was definitely too by-the-book. He didn't come off as friendly, rather as a bit haughty...but not quite. It's hard to explain, but he didn't make me feel comfortable. I did sneak to the bathroom before the entrees came. It was one of the strangest bathrooms I've ever been in. Two stalls. It looked like a very clean version of a Wendy's bathroom, but it had a nice floating sink and all the ladies products found in an upscale bathroom (mouthwash, hairspray, lotion, toothpicks, etc.) I always appreciate when they put those special products out for us. To get to the bathroom, you have to snake back through the narrow bar area. I think they need to rework that layout because it was almost impossible to squeeze through that crammed passageway. Overall a nice night, but I don't think I was impressed enough to return.

The level of disparity in the views targeted at this place is amusing, to say the least, but also somewhat humbling since I am firmly in the camp of those who had an engaging and enjoyable experience. I do concede, however, that this is NOT your typical Cameron Mitchell experience. The atmosphere, tone, and setting all convey a laid-back, relaxed message. The staff are knowledgeable and courteous, but also causal in the way they carry themselves. They offer ordering advice and offer candid conversation about the very accommodating wine selection. I do not think the price matches the mood, but the food was just as exquisite as it was unique. Those who crave a more conservative plate would be better served by the other Cameron locales, who offer a bit more of a focused menu. The range here is almost experimental, although I respect the theme: different worldly dishes done in an American twist, in upmarket execution. I had the pork chops with a zesty accompanying sauce inspired by Asian influences, for example. The deserts were simply stunning. I highly recommend a trip to Cameron's simply for a nice cup of espresso and a cheesecake. All in all, a pleasant experience. Once I have the ability to save up just a wee bit more, I'd like to return again.

Like some other reviews found the food good overall, but certainly not great. We started with the lobster porgies, which were probably the highlight of the night. I would get them again. I had the Steak Frites and my lady had the scallops. I ordered Med-rare...it was Medium at best, not a deal breaker but I have had equally good steaks (maybe even a little better) at Texas Roadhouse for about $10 less. It was pretty tough and cooking it to Medium certainly didn't help. We both thought the scallops were a little undercooked. I like a nicely seared crust on my scallops and the ones we were served were barely browned and a little mushy in the middle. For the price you pay here i thought the food should be...well...better. i may return again but i would get something else on the menu.

I went here last night for dinner and had a really great meal. I started with the lobster peirogies. These had lobster inside and a corn emulsion outside. Very good! Then I had the chop chop salad. It was great also. For my main course I had the duck breast. It was covered with a honey chili glaze and came with cabbage-horseradish mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables. I looked at the dessert menu but was too full.

I'm always hoping to find a good restaurant close to my house. There are precious few in our part of town. My husband and I finally broke down and tried Cameron's. It's close to home, but is also a Cameron Mitchell joint, and we avoid his restaurants. The positive? The service was really good. Our server was attentive and friendly. The food was delicious. I ordered the cod and my husband ordered the salmon. My dish was really rich and decedent. I could only eat half of it. But I enjoyed every bite. Husband ate every bite of his, so I'll assume he liked it. Why only 2 stars? The atmosphere wasn't what I was expecting. Specifically the music. They play a generic mix of soft pop tunes, and they play it rather loudly. I felt as though I was in the mall or a horrid cheap chain restaurant. When I spend $100 on dinner, ideally I'd like live jazz. If not, a sophisticated mix of jazz or house music is great too. Shania Twain is unacceptable. It ruined the entire evening for us. We won't be going back.

My wife and I were in Columbus for the CU/OSU football game...a bad day for CU. However, we found Cameron's, a great day for us. After the game we were driving to the hotel and spotted Cameron's in a strip mall on Hwy 161. What an outstanding establishment! While sitting at the bar, waiting for our table I ordered a scotch on the rocks, specifically "Famous Grouse". To my surprise it was their well scotch. So often, restaurants serve crappy liquor in their well drinks. Having FG in the well was a great start, the appetizers were excellent, the main course, seasonal Walleye and the vegetable medley dinner, were outstanding. We ended up eating at the bar because the bartender/server was one of the best we've ever had. If you go to Cameron's be sure and ask for Roberta, she will make sure your meal is fantastic. We came back two nights later, had another outstanding meal, wanted Roberta for our server, but it was her night off. Happily we still rec'd excellent service at the bar and the dining room. Cameron's American Bistro is off the beaten path but absolutely worth the drive. You will send me a thank you on Yelp if you follow this recommendation and have dinner at Cameron's. My wife said as we left Cameron's for the second time, "if we lived here, this is the only restaurant we would patronize!"

Oh long hail the Restaurant Week!!!! Yes, I went to Cameron's on the week that the event was going on~ It was my first time and definitly won't be my last time. It was yum! I WANTED to start it off with Crab Bisque, but they *drum rolling* ran out. So I had the other appetizer, which was Goat Cheese stuffed with Riocotta and house salad. The goat cheese didn't fly too well with me; I think it's a hit or miss kinda thing... well, it missed with me. The salad was great, it was like work of art~ Beautiful greens all very crisp and fresh, sprinkled with carrots and red cabbage, decorated with dried cranberries, all tossed in this sweet-tart vinegarette dressing! It was yummy!! For the main entree, had a hoisen glazed salmon with steamed and seasoned vegetables. OMG, it was delish!!! The salmon was perfectly grilled with just enough hoisen flavoring and it flaked right off and melted in my mouth.. *drool*... I'd order it again, it was really savory!! Now for the dessert! Keep in mind that I have a massive sweet tooth and I NEVER leave without my dessert unfinish! Now since we have that unstanding, I LEFT WITHOUT FINISHING THE DESSERT. Ok, let me adjust that a tad: I left without finishing all of the dessert; I had two: Cream Bulee with lots of berries for garnish and a Warm Chocolate Cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Needless to say, I finished the chocolate cake~ As for Cream Bulee, it's not that I didn't want to finish it, it was that I COULDN'T. Cream bulee was not done, not baked through, not finish, you get my drift. Flavor was good, it just didn't set just yet - too watery *cry* Overall, my experience with Cameron's American Bistro was memorable. Service was good, food was excellent, and the tab didn't break my bank! I would've given 5 stars if the Cream Bulee was consumable.... Otherwise, two thumbs up from me :)

I had not been here since I was much younger, but my gf got a coupon in the mail for a free entree, so we stopped up there early on a weekend. We were not able to sit down in the dining room, but there were 2 open seats at the bar, so we swooped those. Bartender was on point, my gf's dirty vodka martini was good. She ordered the salmon and I had the Seafood Pasta- Both were very good, the shrimp/calamari were plentiful, but the scallops were a disappointment- Small and only received 3. I like going to Cameron Mitchell restaurants- Service is always good, and the meals are usually top notch. It's a bit pricey, but worth it.

Visiting from florida , we had an amazing meal. Walleye was fantastic and the lemon cheesecake was unbelievable - I ordinarily don't like cheesecake! Matt Walton the Sous chef came out to help explain everything and was extremely friendly and helpful. Great service as well. This is a great place

Still a great choice... This is Cameron's first restaurant. Still a great restaurant. The food is very good, the service is attentive, the bar is spot on, and the managers do a great job. It can get a little crowded on the weekends, because there aren't a lot of other good restaurants nearby. But you can't go wrong here. I don't understand some of the snippy reviews are about.

This was one of the few Cameron Mitchell restaurants that I hadn't tried, so when I received a coupon for BOGO entrees, I figured it was time to try it out. The restaurant can be a little hard to find as it is in a small strip mall; not your typical Cameron Mitchell location. I called a few days before and tried to make a reservation for a Sunday night. No such luck, the earliest they had was 9:30PM... So we decided to arrive on the earlier side with the hopes of getting a table, but the wait was already an hour at 5:15, so we put our name in and headed to the Crafty Pint across the street. About 20 minutes later, Cameron's called saying the table was ready! I was shocked, and also slightly disappointed that I had to abandon my beer at Crafty Pint, but we promptly headed back over. I ordered the salmon and my roommate had the scallops. Both were delicious and seemed to be on the same level as seafood dishes from Fish Market and Cap City. In fact, the salmon tasted and looked almost identical to the salmon dish at Cap City. To end our meal, we ordered carrot cake and we were not disappointed. It was served warm with fresh cream cheese icing and candied carrots on top. YUM! This is a great romantic restaurant for a birthday or anniversary, it's small and quiet. But if you're looking for a place for just an every day dinner or a place to take kids, I would choose Cap City or Fish Market over Cameron's.

First visit to this outpost of the ever expanding Cameron Mitchell empire for a Date Night dinner. Cameron's American Bistro is smaller and more intimate than some of the other CM restaurants, but better for it I think. It also feels less contrived than some of the newer CM restaurants like The Pearl and Hudson 29. For starters my wife went with the Caesar Salad, which she enjoyed. I had the Bingo Oysters which were freaking awesome. Oysters on the half shell with a cheese crust? Please and thank you. Seriously, if you don't have these with dinner I will point and laugh at you. Our main courses were Filet Mignon for my wife and Braised Beef Short Rib for me. Both were excellent, playing to Cameron Mitchell's strengths--cow-based protein. I actually prefer the American Bistro version of Filet Mignon to the Ocean Club version. The demi glace around the filet was very tasty. Special mention goes to the roasted garlic served with the bread--awesome stuff. I try not to fill up on bread and butter before dinner, but I couldn't help myself because of the butter/garlic combo. And I don't feel bad about it either. As always, the service was excellent. I think I've found my new favorite Cameron Mitchell restaurant.

A hidden gem in the Linworth neighborhood off of 161, Cameron's is one of our favorite Cameron Mitchell restaurants. It's a restaurant with a fairly intimate setting, quiet, and perfect for a date. I took my wife here for our anniversary dinner on 9/10/14. We've been coming here on and off for about 5 years now, and we've yet to have a bad meal here. All of their entrees are excellent, and reasonably priced. One thing that's pretty unique about this restaurant is that they will bring out a whole clove of roasted garlic to use as a spread on your bread. For those of you worried about your breath afterwards, they have complementary mouth wash in the bathroom. lol.

One of the best CM restaurants!! The place was intimate, not superly grand and felt kinda homey and friendly. Somehow, one of the things I loved from my visit was the free yet delicious roasted garlic bread, haha. It was so amazing that I asked for another round. I ordered the oyster and it was kinda creamy and heavy for an appetizer but it was delicious. There were 3 oysters, and I felt one of them was not super fresh, but not making a big deal out of it. It's Ohio anyway, freshness sometimes get sacrificed. I ordered the rack of lamb, it has this crunchiness on the outside that I liked, and the sauce helped to give more flavor, although a little bit too salty for me. It came with this big portion of baked potato, which was nice again, but kinda too heavy and creamy. I was looking for something to clean my palate and lighten it up. For dessert, we ordered the warm chocolate cake, and for me, as long as you have that ice cream and warm gooey cake, I am all satisfied. Overall, a good restaurant, will come back for sure.

This place is so darned good I don't know where to start. First, the service was impeccable. Second, the food was excellent. Third, the understatedly elegant decor added to the overall experience. Somewhat pricy, but you get what you're paying for here. I can't believe we've never eaten here given that it's the mothership of the CM restaurants.

Gourmet comfort food! We arrived late on a midweek evening, in search of a classy satisfying meal yet unaware of their hours. The service was impeccable! My dear friend and guest for the night is British and felt treated like a queen. She had the flat bread for an appetizer with a glass of red, I had the house bread with a whole bulb of roasted garlic to spread along with butter. For dinner she had shrimp and grits, I had fried catfish with cornbread and fried eggplant. All I can say is delicious!! The night ended beautifully because of our stop here. We had a savory sensory overload that made us slow down to enjoy every bite. Phones were off the table for this stop so no photos to share, it is a must experience for yourself type of dining event. Enjoy!

Went for a birthday dinner and we all had an excellent meal. It started with amazing, still-warm sourdough bread served with butter and roasted garlic. The garlic really made it amazing. I ordered the vegetable plate but requested that it be made vegan. The server knew exactly what needed to be changed to make it vegan: grill the eggplant instead of breaded eggplant, take off the cheese, and no ravioli. But she also noted that the chef would be sure to make the other vegetable selections bigger to make up for the ravioli that I can't eat. So I ended up with grilled eggplant in marinara sauce, grilled squash and peppers, and a quinoa salad that reminded me of tabbouleh. All three were amazing except that the grilled squash and peppers were over salted. I'm sure they would have happily remade it, but it wasn't a big enough problem for me to mention to our server. Though I expected difficulties with my vegan requirements, it was a surprisingly delicious vegan meal! The rest of my family got walleye, catfish, and a seafood pasta. They all raved about their dishes. And to top the meal off, my mom got a complimentary desert for her birthday. Wonderful meal and service!

Wow I'm still going wow...it was that awesome to me and its one of my new places Id like to go to for special occasions or for the whatever about it...I really really liked it...my husband and I went on our date night and we really liked the whole ambiance of the place. We started out with ordering cocktails, I got a Cosmo and he got the Red Whiskey...very good...our server Rachel, explained to us about their special red and white wine deal but I was in a martini kind of mood. They delivered some really good warm bread with butter and roasted garlic....um really I love roasted garlic and now you got my attention...I ordered shrimp cocktail as my appetizer and my husband got the oysters bingo...oh yes I love their shrimp soaked in house made horseradish sauce...tingly nose sensations...yay...for our main entrees I got the rack of lamb and my husband got the shrimp and grits...my lamb was medium rare and had English peas, carrots, and pearl onions and a potato gratin...mmmmmmm I was in hog heaven...ok so the Mr.'s must of been good because he never even offered me a taste...um ok what a butthead...anyhow we were too full to partake of any desserts so I can't comment on that but oh yeah we will be back...glad we finally made it in here...we will be back.

This restaurant is always excellent. My wife and I have been going there for years. I think it's one of his best. The Dixie Chicken is probably the best fried chicken in town. The Red Whiskey is a great cocktail. Our favorite menu item is the carrot cake. Its not your traditional heavy carrot cake. I don't have words to describe how good this cake is. I like to try new things when I go to a restaurant, however this cake is so good I order it every time. My wife and I have eaten at most of the Cameron's restaurants, and agree this one is the best. The Pearl may have a better location, but Cameron's is worth the drive.

Cameron's just went under a great remodel of both the store and the menu. It is a bit on the pricey side, but it is a Cameron Mitchell Restaurant... so I knew that going in (fortunately my old job use to give me a gift card every year for the holidays... so thats always a nice way to soften the blow). I do know that whenever I got to cameron's though I'm always in for an experience. I've met the executive chef so I'm always pleased with my menu choices. (they make an awesome short rib). give it a try next time you are in dublin.

We've started going here every year for our anniversary. The first year we received a post card thanking us! With a cocktail, appetizer, 2 entrees, and that amazing signature lemon dessert it's a bit pricey, but you can splurge for your anniversary. We like the atmosphere and appreciate the servers' knowledge of the menu. We really love their seafood and the Red Whiskey is a great drink.

So delicious. The roasted garlic with the bread is amazing. We got the calamari and zucchini chips as an appetizer - the zucchini chips were very similar to those at Marcella's (another one of Cameron Mitchell's restaurants) and were delicious. I ordered the shrimp and grits, with no sausage because I am pescatarian. The waitress was very accommodating and the meal came out perfect. Boyfriend ordered the walleye and potato puree. Both of us loved our meals and were stuffed by the end - great portion sizes. The dining room is definitely small, but doesn't feel overcrowded. The meal ended up being a bit more expensive than we usually do, but so worth it. I can't wait to go back!

Been here twice. Awesome both times. Excellent food, attentive service, and even an upscale casual decor that's pleasant and sharp at the same time. Check the menu to see if it sounds good to you, and if you see anything even mildly interesting, go for it. It's better than you think.

Camerons is a classic. I am going to list a couple negatives first then end on the high note. To write a slam about it being too noisy is pointless. It has always been noisy, will always be noisy. The only reason to mention it is for those who have not been there to alert them. Alert: it is noisy. If you have elderly parents you want to treat to dinner, or want to break up with your significant other, this is not the place because you will not be able to hear each other or have a quiet conversation. Another cautionary note: women dining with other women do not get as good service as when they are accompanied by men. Unfortunately, the servers here perpetuate the myth that women are lousy tippers (interestingly another place where this is true is Ocean Club, another Cameron Mitchell restaurant). They give less than their best service in anticipation, then get less of a tip because of it. Self-fulfilling prophesy. Alert: most of the women I know are professionals with good paying jobs and tip more than the men I know. Unfortunately, I am so continually irked by this in restaurants that I dropped a star off the rating because of it. I feel a bit like a hypocrite for continuing to go in there when in mixed company, but I steer ladies night dinners to other, more gender friendly establishments. Lastly, the bar is always slow at this restaurant. Expect to wait. And wait. And wait for your drink. What's good? You can have what you want to eat prepared the way you want it prepared, and it will always taste amazing. Cameron's just serves great food. And, if you decide to split a meal or any item off the menu, they dress up the presentation in a way that doesn't make you feel like they think you're being cheap. We split meals because we try to manage our portion size. It's very nice not to get an eye roll from the server when we ask. My vote for best menu item is the mushroom gnocchi starter. It is so rich, I don't know if one person could eat a whole portion, but for two it is a decadent taste and textural experience. I'll be back - just not with the girls.

We've wanted to try this restaurant for a while and finally got the opportunity. Let me begin by saying that the service was excellent and friendly. The decor is nicer on the inside than the outside and setting would imply. I had the grape gimlet, and we both started with the shrimp bisque. The bisque had a rich, almost roasted flavor and was very creamy. We also enjoyed the bread, butter, and roasted garlic. The pace of the meal was perfect -- I was never left wondering where the next item was or left feeling rushed. For entrees, I got the teriyaki salmon. The salmon was perfectly cooked. However, there was too much sauce for my taste. It was difficult to get a bite of food that wasn't swimming in sauce because they put a pool of it on the bottom of the plate. The sauce was strong enough that I would've preferred a bit less of it. My husband got the pork chop and clams. The pork chop was very thick and was perfectly seared. The mashed potatoes and pan jus were delicious. Finally, for dessert we shared the Meyer lemon gratin. This is a unique dessert composed of a cylinder of lemony cream that's been bruleed on top, with a lacy hazelnut cookie and berries and lemon sauce decorating the plate. This was very pretty and well prepared. The lemon cream was a bit too cheesecakey for our taste, but if you like cheesecake and/or lemon, you'll love it. The restaurant itself is not quiet, but not to the point where I had to yell at my husband to be heard. I definitely needed to sit right next to him rather than across the table from him. They fit lots of tables into this restaurant for the size of it, which is fine. Overall, this is a solidly good restaurant with a menu that has something for everyone, and everything was well-prepared, and the service was great. I hope to have the opportunity to go back sometime and try some other dishes on the menu.

My wife and I had a date night Sunday night and Cameron's was perfect. We made reservations even though it was early on a Sunday night, about 5:45. The hostess was very polite and friendly, and sat us promptly at a nice booth. I like the atmosphere and ambiance here, soft lighting and not too noisy. Our waiter AJ was outstanding. My wife ordered a vanilla sidecar and we started with the calamari, which were cooked perfectly. I had the short ribs and my wife had the scallops. Both meals were presented well and delicious. We had the carrot cake for dessert and it's probably the best we've had. The manager also came to our table to check on us. I've been to several Cameron Mitchell restaurants and they never disappoint, not with the food or the service.
