High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol

If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. Completely ghetto. Run like a(n) Waffle House. Inconsistent waiters sitting at empty tables- keeps getting the order wrong. Waiters counting tips at another table. This is a completely trash Applebee's, no management in sure.

Had bad experiences with Applebee's a few years back then so never visited again until recent two months. I think they've improved their food and service. Out of all the items that we've ordered, I really liked the shrimp & scampi linguine! It also came with zucchini (4 star because of this dish, otherwise overall 3 star)! Other orders were pretty decent too. The 2 for $25 combo comes with one appetizer and two entrees-I believe it to be a good deal. Give it a try if you were disappointed like me before.

Ive eaten here several times. No complaints about the food or service. The mens restrooms are disgusting!!! I wash my hands before every meal and I always feel dirtier after coming out of there. I've dropped a note the suggestions box. No improvements. I can't go back there until their cleanliness improves drastically.

I previously reviewed this Applebee's and gave them 3 stars based on their appetizer happy hour menu from 2013, which was already much reduced in selection compared to the early 2000's. My friends all seemed to dislike Applebee's and would refuse to dine here with me, so it was almost always just my wife and I when we would dine here. Fast forward to March 2015, I came back here with my family to find that their happy hour appetizer menu has once again been butchered. Now instead of getting the same portion size of appetizers (albeit a limited selection of dishes) for half price, you now get like 1/3 the portion size for 1/2 price. The math doesn't add up there, I know. After so many memories (spanning over 15 years) of dining affordably at Applebee's, I am sad to report that I am finally joining my friends in saying that Applebee's is officially dead to me.

A three star review would be what I anticipate from your average Applebee's, and I hardly expect my food to arrive when I visit them. This two star rating tells you that this location did not meet my already incredibly low standards for this chain. However, things could have been worse; I didn't get food poisoning. This is normally when I'd list the positives of my visit, but there weren't any. Moving on... The service is slow. Bafflingly slow for a half - full restaurant after the dinner rush has passed. I hope you like waiting 10-15 minutes to get some water. Drinks took forever to come, and I only ordered a beer! Speaking of beers, they have very few American varieties. Just the usual handful of Russian, Belgian, and Brazilian owned pale lagers. At least there's Yuengling. The food was average quality....what I'd expect. I ordered chicken wings and my wife ordered an appetizer pretzel dish. We waited 20 minutes for our check after finishing our meal. At this point, the restaurant was maybe one quarter full. Really disappointing, even when you don't expect much. Likely won't ever go back to this location.

Been here twice and had a bad experience both times. Never again! Tonight, we went around 9:45 for the happy hour specials. We should have known it was going to be terrible based on our last experience and the fact that it was empty on a Saturday night. There was no one at the front at first. When someone did come, the hostess was legitimately confused about her job. We stood there awkwardly for probably 3-5 minutes as she looked around, obviously unsure of what to do or where to put us. There were a ton of open tables, so I'm unclear on what the issue was. When we were walking to our seats, we noticed the floor was super dirty. Trash everywhere: straw wrappers, food, etc. Definitely does not make me trust the cleanliness of your restaurant. We waited for our waitress for too long, probably 10 minutes. We had looked at the menu and at the bottom of the appetizer page, it said "see happy hour menu." I asked for it and got SUCH an attitude in response. She was like "ummmmmm, it's THAT one" pointing to the drink menu. Oooookay, sorry for doing what your menu instructed me to do. We kept looking at the menu and, as she was gone for the next 10 minutes or so and never brought our waters, we left. I don't have high standards for Applebee's, and this one falls wayyyy short. Don't waste your time!

All three glasses were dirtied with dried lemon or something and my mug was COVERED in sticky, brown stuff. The table next to us sent a drink back too. I can't believe the waiter didn't check the cleanliness of the cups or simply didn't care. Either way is unacceptable. The cleanliness of the forks and spoons was questionable at best. There was clearly something dried stuck on my knife. If this is how clean customer utensils are, I don't want to know what the kitchen looks like. I will not be returning to this location.

This place has the worse carry out process. If you order online, don't believe the time they give you, it will take them at least another 10 minutes or so to have your order ready.

I'm really not sure if I came in at a bad time or not but the initial service is horrible. There were no wait staff or host/hostess that greeted when I walked in and I stood there in the front for a good 5 minutes before I actually walked up to the bar to ask if I can order. I mean it's an Applebee's so I don't expect anything from it but come on.... a restaurant needs to at least meet the minimal customer service requirement of greeting the guests... right? After placing my order, no wait staff came to check up if I was doing okay or not and just ignored me. I ordered a beer and they brought that out but that's it. Anyways, other than that, food is just the same plain Applebee's standard... nothing special. Just the same old.

I am giving this high rating for a chain because honestly we have been here time and again and the service is always good. It's the typical Applebee's menu, and everything is cooked as we expect it. It's got the ohio state theme going on if you are into that (I couldn't care less but hey). The only reason I haven't given it five is because it's a chain, and is somewhat unremarkable if not like most other chains lacking flare, that and my fifth star always goes to originality. But it's Applebee's. It's supposed to be typical American type food.

I hate this place. Every time I come here, I have a bad experience. The staff is incredibly rude and the food has made me sick on more than one occasion. After my last visit, I've finally had enough and won't be coming back.

Usually I don't mind Applebee's for some quick all-American lunch. This experience was pretty sub par. I tried a new Chopped Chicken Fiesta Salad, and it was overdressed and slightly soggy. Very yucky. But the flavor of the dressing itself was good! Beyond that, the triple chocolate molten lava cake we ordered for dessert was SO YUMMY! Probably 1035103 calories, but worth every one! Served with vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, and white chocolate, it was warm and delightful. Service by our waiter Michael was very average--nothing to complain about!

I don't rate chain places unless they really blow me away, or they are really bad. Guess what Applebee's on Ackerman Rd: you're bad. Before I get into it, I want to say that our server was very nice, very attentive, and deserves more than one star, but alas, the experience was so dismal, I can't bring myself to give more than one star to this store. First off is the general vibe from Applebee's in general. It's soooo tired. They've looked the same for well over 20 years, and after all these other similar chains joined the party, Applebee's stood their ground and decided to remain status quo. From the lame random memorabilia and brickabrack on the walls (the same stuff that was ironically made fun of 13 years ago on Office Space, to the no-less-than five different menu/drink specials/food specials/web contests/etc that are already preset on the tables, this place is screaming for streamlining and simplification. Our server recommended the multitude of lemonades. I went with a frozen strawberry, and my wife got a peach on the rocks. When we got them, they tasted like water with a hint of sugar. We assumed the tap was out of lemonade (they obviously serve low-grade bar tap lemonade). So our server kindly replaced our drinks. Again, terrible. No hint of a lemon anywhere in there. We asked for Miller Lites instead. She must have assumed we wanted gigantic drafts, when we actually wanted bottles. But we didn't specify, so no harm no foul? I still think she should have asked. I got the cheesy lime chicken with rice, or whatever it's called. The chicken was blackened to the point that it was so burnt through that my fork made the ashes crumble onto my plate. The rice was so cold and dry, I assumed it was made days before and reheated (not even reheated well). In the end, we got our check, where we were shocked to find that our beers were nearly $4.50 each. Again, she didn't ask us if we wanted bottles, and we didn't specify, so maybe it was our fault. I know some of these issues are out of the control of the local owners and staff (decor, clutter and tons of upsales on the tables, etc), but the food quality is entirely the responsibility of the store staff and management. Just awful.

To be honest i've never had food that tasted so bad that i didn't even finish half of my food. I wasn't born here so i haven't tried Applebees until a few while ago. I decided to try Applebees because of the interesting TV commercial (i feel ashamed to be lured in by marketing scheme since i'm a business major). My friend and i shared the 2 for 20 dollars meal. We had the chicken wings as the appetizer, which was decent. And then we ordered the pork ribs and steak for the entree. And seriously i've never tasted food that terrible in my life. I'm being serious here. I'm not exaggerating or anything. I'm not expecting ribs from Montgomery Inn (which has delicious ribs) or steak from Mortons. But seriously this is painful to eat. The steak is incredibly salty and overly marinated. Don't get me started about the meat quality. The ribs was seriously the worse ribs i've ever hand in my 20 years of beautiful life. I think how the cook the ribs is they boiled it, deep friend it and the put sauce on top. Or something like that. Everything is so salty and tasted like MSG. I don't get why this restaurant is a chain? Or am i too snobby?

It's an Applebees so its what you would expect. I come here for lunch quite a bit since it is next to my office. I love the endless soup and salad at lunchtime. The spinach and shrimp salad is delicious!

boyfriend and i needed to find an eat-in restaurant at 11PM and applebee's was the only place we could think of... well that was a huge mistake. Haven't been there for over a year and it is still as shitty as ever. Let's start with the good: Our appetizer was great (spicy queso and chips) Bad: I had a steak and potatoes salad. My potatoes had brown spots all over them. I told the server and she offered to bring back new potatoes. I said sure. She comes back and says "well, these are a little bit better" Well guess what, it still had brown spots all over them. My boyfriend got a 7oz sirloin. He said his food was good, and my salad was subpar. The steak was too cold and chewy. I barely got a "salad", just a thin layer of spinach... overall it was a disappointment and our server and the cooks obviously did not try. Our bill came out to $31 plus tips, for an appetizer and two tiny-sized entrees. I knew we should have just gone to mcD's. Oh, and if you want to see a pic of the potatoes, it should be in the pictures section :)

I was pleasantly surprised tonight by my lunch/snack from the to go menu. 1st and it is a shame to all food joints with take out that I need mention this, but it was all there, it was what i ordered, and there were condiments, flat ware and yeah a napkin or two!!!. One small slip was my sliders were just plain and it stated on the menu onion straws and some kinda sauce. but the shrimp was plentiful and good, and no mud vein, don't hate that taste. my dog lili enjoyed it too. My hubby got the rueben, and by his grunts and groans that was pretty good too. i can recommend the appetizer trio for a great meal for one or snack for two and a real good price.
