Calorie intake is the main concern for people with high cholesterol while dining at a fast-food restaurant like Whataburger. Well, you can always try the Lighter & Smaller options from the menu to cut down your fat intake. Opting for grilled sandwich or burgers are preferred compared to double meat or triple meat cheesy burgers which contain high cholesterol.

This is a really solid Tex-Mex joint, every time I've been here it has been consistently good food & service with exceptional margaritas - my fav is the Agave Margarita though the Platinum Margarita comes in a close second; I'm a rita lush, don't judge. The decor is inviting with an open & airy atmosphere creating a nice ambiance for dinner/drinks. Negative: the food seems to be 'Americanized' in both flavor & presentation which doesn't suggest authentic; Positive: portion sizes are enormous, as in a few of the combo platters come out on plates that take over half the damn table.

The girls and I have eaten here more times than I'd like to admit. We've gotten to the point where we know some of the staff by name. Which is both embarrassing on our part, and awesome on theirs. We avoid the busier times, as our daughter is high functioning autistic and can't handle super busy atmospheres. The staff is always accommodating and very friendly, even with all the spilled water and rice (babies, man). Depending on the day and time, the place ranges from SUPER PACKED to pretty dead. The service has never suffered from it. I've never felt rushed or pressure from the waitstaff to turn our table, which is crucial in my enjoyment. I'm a big eater and I ain't TRYNA get a tummy ache. The food is always awesome. It's not the best Tex-Mex you'll ever have (this is Ohio), but it's far from the worst. The kitchen staff is full of champions. The fact that they can churn out stellar food in such a short amount of time in a giant restaurant that's at capacity more often than not is nothing short of sorcery. I've never had a bad experience at Abuelo's... not once. There have been slip ups and there have been mistakes, but those can be counted on one hand. No restaurant is going to be perfect. The Abuelo's staff are passionate and hard working; it shows in the food, and certainly shows in the service. It's easy to see that when you've been working in the industry most of your adult life. They have always gone above and beyond to correct an issue no matter which party is at fault. It is definitely one of the better places to eat at Easton. We will most certainly keep coming here on the regular. PS the bathrooms are CLEAN

I have never been disappointed with Abuelo's. The food always comes quick, even during busy times, and is always delicious. The atmosphere is very original, as well as versatile; you can go there for a special occasion, a simple casual dinner, or after shopping at Easton. The service is awesome. My last server found out I'm vegetarian and was very informative - told me up front that their retried beans are cooked with pork and that the rice is cooked in chicken stock, so offered the cilantro rice as an alternative. Priced very well considering the pleasant atmosphere and the large amounts of food served. Lastly, if not most importantly, THE DESSERTS. The tres leches cake is AMAZING. It's literally divinity in your mouth. Soooooo good. Try it!!!!

Takeout experience: Everything was salty, service was just okay. Not a good experience. Maybe if I have to come again, I wi try it once more and update my review.

I've had a few dinners here in the past few years, and came again last week. We were at Easton for a wine tasting that didn't happen due to a crowded bar at another restaurant. We got a table immediately here and had great service. My fish tacos were very good, but I'm not sure I would order again only because they were spicier than I like. I've had the queso diablo before, which is fabulous, but we skipped it this time. The table kiosk was new to us, and apparently you can play trivia, and order dessert on it. The highlight was being able to pay our bill by swiping the card (see photo). It is unique and so convenient. The restaurant itself is very pretty, and comfortable. It's one of the better places to eat at Easton.

I love this place. It's our go to whenever we are at Easton Towne Centre. Food is always delish and service is always good. Portions are always generous you're not leaving here hungry.

Came here for lunch with my other half and my son. We started with chips and three different salsas. I liked the green one which has a slight sweet taste and I like the regular salsa. The chips are really thin and light but because they are so thin they break when you dip them which is aggravating. I ordered the lunch portion of the chicken fajita tacos with their chili papas frites and re fried beans. My hubby ordered the chicken chimichanga with the chili papas frites and retried beans. My tacos were bland tasting as I was expecting them to taste more like fajitas and the chicken was bland as if not seasoned much. They had tomato lettuce and cheese. However the frites was very good I loved the seasoning and how smooth they were. The beans tasted like they came out of a can and nothing to get excited about. Our service was very fast and good. I wouldn't go out of way to eat here but if I was craving Mexican and was in the area I'd eat here.

If this review had been written before my take-out experience, I would have given four stars... good flavor, nice environment, and attentive service. But tonight I called in a take-out order. When I arrived, the hostess told me that the bartender would help me at the bar. I saw my order sitting on the bar, but there was no bartender to be found. After waiting a few minutes, I approached the hostess again for take-out service... she told me, "He'll be back in a few minutes." (Strike one) After about five minutes, the bartender did return and took payment. He then disappeared without giving me my order, and the other person now at the bar had no idea if the bag sitting on the bar was my order. (Strike two) And of course my food was cold when I got it home. (Strike three) I would recommend visiting the restaurant and trying the food. Just don't order take-out... they don't have it together.

After a long day of shopping I needed some a food and a few cocktails!!!. The place is beautiful, wow I was impressed! We decided to walk over to the bar and have a seat since no one was sitting there and no need to take up a table. It took about 4 minutes for her to notice us and come over. Seemed odd given the fact it mid afternoon and they weren't busy by no means. Although that's typically when tables get neglected, because servers have to much down time. Once she arrived we ordered a few cocktails while we looked over the menu. Will say drinks were weak and their sour mix for their margaritas are crappie. I love a good margarita and after a long day of shopping I needed it regardless so I drank it. Bartender gave us some chips and salsa while we continued to look over menu. I did ask her what she recommend and I decided to go with her second choice the durango burrito because fajitas are the same where ever you go. We ordered some jalapeno poppers to munch on while our food was prepared. Once our food arrived it was hot and very good portions. I must say the meal itself was good but very salty, I recommend the chef cut back some on the salt. Overall I can't complain, I went in hungry and thirsty and left not hungry nor thirsty. So it was a success story.

I've been here a few times now and I'm pretty impressed with this place. First of all the interior is quite beautiful. It's also very large. I've tried the bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer and oh my goodness, it's just about one of the best (and no doubt unhealthy) things I've ever eaten. Wow!! The service each time we've been there has been fast, friendly and efficient. Enchiladas are their specialty but you really cannot go wrong with ordering from just about anything on their menu from what I've found so far. Not a real big fan of the way they bring the various salsas out but then we spent more time with the 7 layer dip anyways (which is delicious btw) so it wasn't a huge deal. The chips are hot and crisp and taste pretty good. All in all this place is very impressive. They could make a more traditional salsa as well and maybe have a bit lower prices but that's about the only criticisms I can find. This place comes highly recommended anytime you're in the Easton area and are in the mood for some high quality Mexican eating.

Tilapia Vera Cruz lunch size wasn't extraordinary but was satisfying. It says served with tomatoes, pablano peppers, and olives, but it was more of a tomato sauce covering the proteins. I like olives, but don't know if the whole green olives fit with the dish. There were only a few smallish shrimp and a few small bay scallops, but the price was only $11.95 for the meal if I recall correctly. My tea cost another $2.50. The side of veggies were nicely cooked and my favorite part of the dish was the cilantro lime rice. Service was average. There were about 10 of us having conversation so the server didn't intrude, but my drink sat empty for a while. It would have been nice for him to offer refills of the free chips and salsa while we were waiting.

Very mediocre food - all three of us said we probably would not be back -- too many other options for good Mexican/TexMex food. Nice ambience -- service was friendly, but just ok - we never received the never ending guacamole and sour cream for our fajitas advertised in the menu.

Food and service is good. I have it 4 stars cause it's not great. They bring out 3 types of salsa that I loved so that's a plus. They have a yummy cheesy potato option instead of rice which is nice though odd at a mexican restaurant.

Arrived and quoted 25 minute wait. No problem, had a seat near the bar to have chips and a drink. Our table was available after only 7-8 minutes, great! Bartender/server was very unhappy to have hauled out water and chips only to have us move. Oh well... Food was fast food quality. It was like Taco Bell with better sauce. Black beans were hard, undercooked. Server was inattentive and rude. Maybe there are better options than the two enchiladas I had but I'll never know because I'm not going back. I actually think going to Taco Bell would have been a better choice.

The location, interior, and chips are what I enjoyed about Abuelo's. As a party of seven without reservations, we were promptly seated and had good service throughout our visit. Unfortunately, no one was wowed by their meals. The flavor just does not match the pricing. My meal of chicken and cheese enchiladas with rice and beans, for example, looked as if it were zapped in a microwave or sat under a heat lamp a little too long. It may have been fresh when they began, but looks can play into how one perceives flavor. I'd try again with a different dish.

I'll start out by saying that I love Mexican food. I really, really love it. But if I were a Bland-etarian, I would give this place five stars. I ordered the vegetarian fajitas with a side of cilantro rice and refried beans. The beans had a weird spice to them and the rice was so dry. The veggies were so boring and the guac had a weird aftertaste. I really wanted to like it and I hate giving out a review with low stars. I came here a few years ago and I remember liking it but it didn't knock my socks off. Another important aspect of dining out is cleanliness of the restaurant. I don't understand why a restaurant would bus a table and then leave the mess for everyone to see. If you take the trouble to pile dirty dishes onto a tray, why not just take it into the back where customers eating food don't have to look at an unappetizing mess?

This place can be hit or miss with service. It's usually good, but on those busy nights, which they do have many, it can lack a little. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, a nice size bar off to the side. Drink orders do tend to take more time than expected when it's busy. But for a place that sells a lot of margaritas, everyone is ordering drinks. I've always had good food here, but I haven't really wondered off the path or trying different things since for some reason I usually tend to get the same two or three entrees when I visit. I like their salsas and dips, however the chips can become soggy/oily and a little too brittle sometimes, yes I'm being picky on the chips, I like em a little thicker, but that's my personal preference. For a chain, this place is pretty good. I find Tex Mex and Mexican places can be really hit or miss on the quality and taste of the food. It's always been good here, but I think there's places they could make it better.

I love good Mexican food. This was mediocre. The service was awful. I understand it was busy but the amount of mistakes made in our party was crazy. And when the manager brought over another waiter to help he took a drink order and then never came back. My boyfriends order was incorrect, not even close to what he orsered, so he had to wait for his food while everyone else started eating. I would not recommend this place to anyone. There are far better Mexican restaurants. I think the only good thing I can say is the interior of the place was nice.

Abuelos exceeded my expectations. I had never been to Abuelos before visiting Columbus, even though there is one in Cleveland, where I live. I went there for dinner, and the place was pretty full, and since I was dining by myself, I opted to sit at the bar. I ordered a Sangria, and the Chicken Fajita Platter. Shortly after ordering, the server returned with a basket of fresh tortilla chips and 3 salsa choices, mild, spicy and sweet. All were yummy! My entree arrived a short while later, sizzling hot, more than ample portion. The sliced chicken arrived atop onions and bell pepper on a sizzling cast iron pan, accompanied by pico de gallo, guac, sour cream, cheese, pinto beans and mexican rice, along with warm flour tortillas. All-in-all, this was a great meal and I will definitely return to Abuelos!

Love this place! I moved here a couple years ago and wondered if I'd ever find a Mexican restaurant I liked. I know its a chain, and that usually turns me off, but the food here is so good and the service is great. I've been here twice in the last year and both times we walked right in and sat down. Once on a Friday night and once on a Saturday night. The restaurant was busy, but the service is so good the tables turn over pretty fast. For me, the chips and salsa make or break the Mexican restaurant. They're not as good as Chili's but they're really really good. Light, crispy chips served warm and a selection of salsas for dipping. I highly recommend the queso. I told my husband I considered crushing up the chips in the bowl and eating it like a soup, haha! The fresh guacamole was really good too and I hate avocados! My husband and son are picky, and I'm picky about my Mexican. It's a unanimous hit!

About 30 years ago, my family started eating Mexican food every Easter. No one felt like cooking, so we went to a place on 161 called Chi Chi's, because it was open and close by - and a Browning family tradition was born. We thought it was pretty good then! I probably wouldn't love it now, but I won't speak ill of it. Chi Chi's was like an alcoholic aunt. You recognize that she has problems, and she's a little embarrassing, but you love her anyway. It's a bit tricky now, though, since most Mexican places aren't open on Easter. Even though I mostly avoid chains now, I do have a special place in my heart for Abuelo's. Mostly, I really like this place. The guacamole is fresh, you can get a decent margarita without any sour mix, and the food is pretty darn tasty. But I would be an irresponsible Yelper, if I didn't warn you all about the ribeye. Abuelos makes a big deal out of their prime rib. I've had it a few times, and it's pretty good! But...the ribeye. It's partially my fault for ordering a steak at that price. I should have known it was too good to be true. Do you remember Ponderosa? I'm not saying that you shouldn't go to Abuelo's. I think it's a terrific value all in all. Just don't order the ribeye. And the new Do It Yourself POS system is pretty tacky. I think the family is going to Abuelo's this Easter! Unless a new Chi Chi's opens up.

Just average "mexican" food. Their Queso Flameado Supremo is interesting, it's flaming cheese and the only memorable item in the menu.

Place was super good! I love the interior and the food was pretty decent. I ordered one of their oversized platters expecting to take some home for dinner later. It cost around 20$ just for my food. For the amount I got I think 15$ would have been better. I was not a impressed but some of the burritos/ whatever they're called. But I believe with a plate like that you take chances. I would go back again but I would order something smaller and not a catch all for burritos.

Was our first visit and I was fairly impressed. The chips were thin and crisp and three salsas all had good flavor. Shared chicken and steak fajitas with sides of rice and beans. Chicken was bland but steak was flavorful and cooked perfect. Server was nice but wasn't over friendly. All and all it was a good dinner and I would return again for a visit in the future.

Came in with two other people around 7:40 on a Friday. Spotted a few empty tables, but was told it was going to be a 20 minute wait. We waited, and watched the tables stay empty. When I inquired, they said that they were indenting on seating earlier parties... When it was finally our turn, we were shown a table right near the front. Asked for a booth after spotting two empty ones, and moved. Really, our waiter was fine. It was the food that was the problem. I'm pretty sure my steak quesadilla was made with cheese whiz, and the gf's grilled chicken fajitas tasted and looked eerily similar to Tyson's pre-cooked chicken strips on top of a mountain of sort of cooked onions with peels on them. Not a pepper in sight! Had the tum runs after, should have stayed at Bar Louie and downed another flatbread over a $3.25 draft during Happy Hour.

Stopped in here after work with a co-worker for drinks and dinner. We sat in the bar, which is your classic Mexican decor... we've been here twice for after work drinks.. the first time the server was pretty cool, the second time we got a very clueless server who seemed to have no sense of timing at all.. The menu is pretty standard stuff... I had the Juarez which is pretty much your standard mex combo with enchiladas and a taco.. everything is way too much food.. and i am terrible about taking left overs home and never actually eating them.. or packing them up and then forgetting it on the table.. I like the SKINNY MOJITO they have... try it... They have two sizes of guacamole too... the first time we inadvertently got the mondo size.. which was way too much for two people... We got lucky twice with parking but this place is usually pretty hectic because it is in Easton Center.. so keep that in mind.

Food is ok, but has been slowly getting worse over time. The service has been marginal and now has deteriorated as well. We used to eat here often when coming to Easton for shopping. We will no longer return.

Amazing mexican food. I got the Durango burrito and it was amazing, shredded beef. It came with rice or re-fried beans (get the rice) and some guacamole and I chose the potatoes that came with it, I forget what they are called but they have cheese and stuff, so good. The server was one of the best servers I have ever had, he was so great. I was obsessed with the salsa and chips. So delicious. You can tell the chips and salsas were made in house. The green salsa was my favorite, my friends each had a different favorite of the three. Love that green salsa. Great atmosphere. Love the murals painted on the walls. Everyone is so friendly. I love it there. Prices were great on what we got. Some stuff is pricey but two of us got the Durango burrito and the third person got something similar for vegetarians and the bill was only 30 or so for three people. Amazing deal. So price-wise it depends on what you get. Next time I am going to try the more pricey dishes because I am sure they are worth it. Overall very positive experience. I am from a rural part of Ohio so I guess I am used to the crappy chain restaurants and very few gems here in Boardman, but Columbus seems to have all the good food. Next time I am in Columbus I will be eating here. :)

I am typically not a fan of middle to higher end chain restaurants that are cropping up around these fashion places. Typically they are high cost low portion and mostly you're buying the decor when you go in. No I'm not saying that this place is any more or less guilty of that but the pricing is a little more reasonable and the quality is acceptable for the price. I had one of their Durango burrito the rest of my parties split between their chimichangas and dinner salads,The table salsas were very good and the chips were fresh and the service was great. it was a Saturday evening and so we did have an hour and a half wait but that was expected.

If you find something you like here, stick with it and don't stray too much because it's hit or miss with some things. Service is always quick, but the food has ranged from terrible to awesome. (I guess it just depends on who is working.) Their darker spicy salsa is awesome, but if you get take out they won't include it unless you specifically ask. I've got a 2 year old that has a very small rotation of food she will eat - beans, rice and taco meat being one of three meals. Needless to say, we frequent this place multiple times per week. Despite the fact that I have spent hundreds of dollars here each month for the past, ah, three months, I've yet to have a server recognize us (even though we've gotten the same people multiple times.) However, they're all still pretty good at what they do, efficient and friendly. The margaritas are pretty good, and the chips are awesome, especially when you get them fresh and hot. Best deal on the margaritas is either the pitcher or the "Mucho" size during happy hour. The bathrooms are disgusting and I always try and avoid using them if at all possible because every time I walk in I feel like I'm going to die from the smell. It must be seeped into the walls. It's horrible. Despite the misgivings I have with this place, it's close, and in our regular rotation. You'll either like it or hate it - if the food was more consistent I would probably give it a 4 star.

Used a groupon with the boyfriend. I got the grilled chicken sandwich and he got the steak burrito. My chicken is always fresh and large. He loves the burrito. Our waitress Neely today was awesome!!! Super friendly. My only complaint is that it's pretty cold in the winter because of all the windows. Those poor waitresses must be freezing in there tiny tank tops. LOL.

Hands down one of the best Mexican restaurants in the Columbus area ! Their chips are great and they bring you variety of salsas to try for free. Though the house salsa is the best of them IMO. They have a new appetizer called a "Jalapeno Fritter" which is a smooth mexi-cheese(queso fresco perhaps?)mixed with mild jalapeno pieces fried in a light crispy batter. Delicious and ample amount serving for 2-3 people and affordably priced. Think tasty hush puppies but not as heavy. Like another reviewer has said, the Bacon Wrapped Shrimp are great too. The usual "go to" for myself here are the enchiladas. Especially the shredded marinated beef, which is very flavorful and the cheese filled one(awesome cheese). The chicken one is just okay and not too flavorful, so I don't order it anymore. The rice is light and has a great flavor/texture. The atmosphere and layout of this restaurant is really cool. The paintings and dome in the the middle of the building make it very interesting. Service has always been good even when it's very busy. The meal prices vary from moderately priced to flat out cheap. In other words you get your money's worth. If you want to have a steak your going to pay the going rate. If your going to eat enchiladas/burritos/tamales it's going to be quite inexpensive.

I'm usually picky when it comes to where I eat Mexican food....I do like authentic places but I I have to say I really like the fajitas here. It's probably not the real authentic taste you're looking for but it doesn't mean it can't taste yummy. Good drinks too but I guess it depends on the bar tender working that day.

What can I say about Abuelos? If you love Mexican food at a restaurant that hooks it up, then Abuelos is your type of restaurant. I love Mexican food, but never a huge fan for branded Mexican restaurants. I prefer your hole in the wall, drive thru, and fast food type Mexican food that you find in San Diego or even LA. That being said, I have to say the overall taste of the food is just okay. I tried the chicken and fish fajitas. My meal was decent, still satisfying, and the portions were huge. The rest of our group got everything from steaks, enchiladas, tacos, and seafood. By the looks of it, everyone else's meals were hooked up too. There's a huge selection on their menu so finding something to settle on isn't too tough. The dessert menu is also extensive. My only issue has to be with the service. The crew here is very nice, but took some time to take our orders and even longer to serve it. They serve baskets of chips while you wait for your main dishes. Our group had their chips refilled at least 3 times because the food took that long. Plus, their chips are so light and addicting that you can't help but kill it while you wait. Even though I'm not a huge fan of this type of Mexican food, I thought that the waiters and waitresses were great. The food portions are huge, priced fairly decent, and taste is probably what they are striving for. Our meals probably could have been served faster in my opinion.

This is by far the best and most consistent Mexican in Columbus. My wife and I have been coming here for years and have never been disappointed. I usually get the chili relleno, which is excellent, but on my most recent visit I decided to switch it up and try the glazed pork. I really enjoyed the sauce, very nice. Desert is the best part of this place. The flan is a must have.

This place is horrible. I decided to try it after hearing it was "so good" this place is far from "so good" it is not authentic Mexican food. When we were finished with our meal the manager came over & asked how it was we said "it was Okay, we weren't impressed" his reply "you sure are ate lot for it to be okay" our response "of course because we were hungry, and didn't feel like finding some where else to eat, but we won't be back" he didn't offer to do anything for us just guys smart ass remark.

Service was not personal, the seafood was microwaved, scallops were tough and old, the mojito was watered down, they didn't have barramundi for my dish so I got a thin slice of tilapia instead? Waitress Kristin never check up on us for refills or to see how the food was. Don't go here.. Waist of money.

Abuelo's is a smorgasbord of good Tex-Mex food! I can't say it's the best Mexican place in Columbus (that belongs to someone else) but it's DEFINITELY in the Top 5! The thing that sets it apart from almost everyone else is the size of the building and the menu. There are sooooooooo many things to choose from and from what I could see from the plates around me, they were all well prepared, presented and good! It's not too pricey, especially for someone like me who doesn't drink alcohol, and it's location makes it second to none. Warning: Make sure you do your shopping before you eat here because afterwards it's nap time!

Well my girl and I were picking up some items at Easton and decided to stop here for dinner about 6ish last night. They were very busy and seemed a little short handed. The manager was bussing tables but it was not going as fast as I think it should have. However we waited about 30 minutes for a table. Once we sat down we knew what we wanted to order and our food came out very quickly. My girl got a Grande Burrito that she enjoyed. I ordered something that had 2 petite filets and shrimp wrapped in bacon with jalapeño cheese. I ordered the meat medium rare and it came out raw. I asked the server to fix it and she took my plate. A few minutes later she came back and asked if I would like a new one or if they could finish cooking what I had gotten. I said cooking what I had was fine. She then came back with the rest of my plate and said she didn't want me to have nothing to eat while I waited. Once my meat came back, it was cooked perfectly. Kudos to the server for taking exceptional care of us. However a visit from the Manager on duty would have been nice given a mistake that could have made me very ill had I taken a bite of raw meat. I would go here again for sure thanks to my attentive server.

Oh, Sangria swirl. Where have you been all my life? I mean, frozen margarita and frozen sangria is close to heaven for me. Add to this the food was damn tasty. I had the Sonora (shredded beef enchilada, tamale, and cheese burrito). It was super tasty. The tamale was perfect, I could have eaten an entire plate of those. And the potatoes... I burned the hell out of my mouth on those but it was totally worth it. I was also addicted to the roasted red pepper salsa and the green salsa they left at the table. They were lovely. I could have eaten the green salsa for the rest of the evening and been thoroughly happy. I look forward to going back and seeing what other tasty delights are on the menu.

This restaurant has a beautiful interior but that was the highlight for me. This concept of making gourmet Mexican food does not seem to work. it was carefully prepared and presented put all the flavor was sucked out of it. I much rather enjoy a local neighborhood Mexican restaurant. Our waitress was very pleasant and she would be the only reason we would return.

    (2)
  • Lauren F.

Awesome chips and salsa, and I love that they have a salsa sampler... The secret ingredient to their green salsa has to be crack because it is soooo addictive (actually, I think it might be pineapple?). I crave it sometimes. The dip trio is highly recommended, and they will let you swap out one of the dips for a second of one of the others if you ask nicely! As for mains, I can't get past their enchiladas and specifically the avocado enchilada. Whoever first decided to put guacamole in an enchilada is a genius and I tip my hat to them, because I am a guac junkie. Also, get the papas con chile instead of the rice. Trust. At this location I prefer to sit at one of the bar tables because I'm not a huge fan of their very open dining room. Service and the entire experience is always decent, and I would give Abuelo's a 3.5 so I rounded it up to four stars.

  • Cory S.

Love this place. I usually start out by going dip crazy. You get 3 salsas, gratis, but adding the dip sampler really gets things started off right. To be honest, I've only ever ordered one dish: the stuffed chicken medallions. I find them to be pretty damn tasty. People I've gone with always seem to be happy with their food. The only exception being the time my girlfriend ordered a salad, but who the hell orders a salad at a Mexican restaurant... Come on. As for service, no major complaints. There can be a wait for a table from time to time, but I can't complain.

I very much enjoy salsa, queso, and chips. Also one of my favorite meals is steak fajitas. This TexMex East on establishment hits good TexMex on all cylinders. Great variation of fresh salsas. Decent drinks, decent service. Gets very busy on weekend nights. Still probably the best TexMex outside of Texas I've had.

  • Faith G.

My husband and I went here for Valentines dinner. The establishment wasn't as big inside as it looked as if it would be on the outside. Our wait was at least a half an hour, which was probably standard on this holiday weekend. Our waitress, Tiffany, was prompt with our chips and salsa. She was very attentive and not overly present at our table. She made great suggestions to what was delectable on the menu. My husband ordered the enchiladas while I ordered the fajitas. The house margaritas was our drink of choice and a great one. Our dishes took about 20 minutes to arrive but our waitress kept us stocked up on chips and salsa, so we hardly noticed the delay. My dish was appropriately portioned with chicken, steak, onions and peppers. My side dishes of black beans and cilantro lime rice were delish as well! My husband was well pleased with his dish also. The only compaint I have was that the place was rather drafty. It was Febuaury, nonetheless, but everytime someone came through the door and cold chill swept the entire place. I saw patrons eating with their coats on. They need to either turn up the heat or find a way to eliminate the draft. I think we will be repeat customers to this place in the near future. Great food and friendly staff was a definite plus.

    (4)
  • P B.

My husband and I were here for lunch last Saturday. This was our tenth time here and will probably be the last. Our waiter was terrible. We asked for the large draft beers and were brought two small ones in different size glasses. When we mentioned it he goes "oh that was what you meant". No offer to replace or apologize. Ordered the $5.00 happy hour nachos and two more beers since the first ones were so small. Again the beers were in two different size glasses. When the bill came the $5.00 nachos were $6.00 and the beers were listed at the larger size price. When the salsas came to the table, they had all slopped together and were dripping down the sides of the container. Food portions have gotten way smaller too. No attempt to clear away glasses and dishes from our table when they were emptied. So on a very small table we had four glasses, two trays of salsa, two plates, two appetizer plates and a basket of chips. Had to move quite a bit of unneeded items to the floor just to have a little room to eat. Very unpleasant experience. Food quality seemed to go down a little.

Great location in the always busy Easton. Nice atmosphere. I love the queso. My enchiladas and friends chile relleno were both good but not extraordinary. The sangria wasnt very good. Overall if you are craving mexican food this place is fun and the queso makes any meal enjoyable.

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the Columbus area. I've never had to wait for a table and the service has always been great. My favorite is the beef and cheese chimichanga. Every dish is a platter of food so be prepared to take home leftovers. I've never had a bad experience here.

With all the choices my family and I had to chose from at Easton.....why did we pick Abuelo's? Oh, I know, because we enjoy good Mexican (or at least Tex-Mex) food at a decent price for a family of five. We started off by getting seated right away, which was a nice surprise considering this was Saturday night.....but we did get there early (before 5pm.) It kinda went downhill from there. However, our waiter was a nice person and seemed attentive (but again, it was early.) It took awhile for our drink (one) to arrive and it took even longer for our meals to arrive. When they did arrive, they did not bring our one of the kids meals...and the meal runner did not inform the waiter nor the manager of the small issue. Only when WE called attention to our table by pushing the little "call me" light (kinda cool) did a manager come over to inquire. Somehow it never got entered in to the system (remember....it was early and they weren't that busy.) Well it finally did arrive. No harm no foul, but we were all done except for my child. The food was beyond bland and tasteless. I ordered a shredded chicken burrito and I am still looking for the chicken. My wife ordered chicken fajitas...and these were possibly the most bland tasting condiment lacking fajitas ever. The manager/waiter never really took much time to apologize for the lack of meal issue. I mean they acknowledged it, but that was about it. Only when we looked at our bill did we see they comped the kids meal. Thank you. For $60 (yes we did tip...not always the waiter staff's fault) we could have been better served at another Easton area restaurant.....there are a few to choose from, right? This will be the last time we eat at any Abeulo's.....there are certainly much better (and less expensive) Mexican restaurant's to eat at in and around Columbus.

Went yesterday afternoon (a Sunday). Service was excellent, because it was 2:00 p.m. and not crowded. The food was just ok. Nothing to get excited about. Had two enchiladas, one cheese and one seasoned ground beef. the beef enchilada was lacking in flavor...i mean completely lacking in flavor...The chips and salsa were good, but the chips are really really thin and don't hold up well with a dip into the salsa. Really not worth returning to this restaurant.

Had reservations for 7:00. Informed at 7:00 it will be approximately 30 minutes, watched as table after table was given away to walk-ins instead of putting two tables together for our party at 7:45 we were told there were 3 parties still ahead of us. Easton has far too many great restaurants, so we left. Won't be back.

I was honestly very impressed by this place. I had always heard mixed reviews, but I enjoyed my Valentine's day dinner here, with my sister. Free chips and salsa is always a plus - I was sold on the three different salsas they had brought to the table. We shared Sangria, which was lovely, minus the part where the oranges and limes looked a little old, sitting at the bottom of the carrafe. Chose the fajitas, which included steak, chicken, and shrimp - so much food, the server suggested we share it, which we did. They were so amazing, I loved the fajitas! It even came with free dessert, so we chose the flan, which was very yummy. After the server dropped our bill, it took her a while to circle back through to pick it up - which was fine, we just wanted to make sure she got her tip. Management walked around and asked how everything was, which was appreciated. I didn't use the women's restroom, so I can't tell you how clean those were, but all in all, it was a pleasant experience - especially on one of the busiest date nights of the year.

Pretty disappointed with my first visit. The place has a great atmosphere and the salsa trio they bring out is really good. The pineapple one was a nice change. The chips were to thin to hold up to the guacamole app we ordered. After the guacamole everything went down hill. I expected more authentic flavors. My party ordered the torta and an enchilada and chille relleno lunch special. The torta tasted like something I could get at any american chain in the area. The potatoes came cold and thick stuck to the plate with not a trace of peppers in them. Had i known I would have chose rice. The lunch special was drowned insauce and a yellow queso dip reminiscent of the jar in the grocey store. Nothing was inedible just not worth going back for for the price.

Yum yum yum!!!!! That's the best way to describe this place! I'd never been to this particular Abuelos location until a week ago. I was very happy with the experience! When we walked in, we were seated quickly and greeted by our server. The decor of the place is really neat with lots to look at! I got the Matadoro (I think it's called)...which had a cheese enchilada, beef enchilada and a chile relleno. It was pretty much amazing! Comes with beans and rice (as most Mexican dishes do). I had a sangria swirl and it was very tasty! Good atmosphere, great food and not too high pricewise! Will definately go back!

Wow - stopped in on Saturday to grab a bite. The greeter was very nice as was the GM. That's where it ends. Inside, it's not as nice as one expects from the outside. It seems a little tired. A big box room, no flow, and stuff stuck in it to break it up. The bartender was a not nice person. Snippy, nasty and vaguely judgmental. We ordered one margarita to sip on while we waited.... it was pretty much all sour mix and cost close to $8. It tasted really bad. A simplistic evaluation, but there is nothing more to it than that. We talked to the GM, after I paid, and he said it would be taken off at the end of the night. We'll see if it's off my credit card.

Love Abuelo's interpretation of Mexican food. Favorites include the enchiladas, chimichangas and fajitas. Highly recommend. Service can be hit or miss, but the food is delicious, the price is right, and we usually do not have a long wait for a table. Best fit for our family for Mexican food in Columbus.

Slow service in the bar area. Host who didn't want to give us a table because it was 9:01 PM. Forced us into a booth in the back of the bar. The 1800 margarita was average at best even though it's one of their specialties. Had been several years since I was in here. It has slipped a lot. Probably my last trip. Easton has too many good places to waste your time at this restaurant.

This place is alright. The staff and service were good, they kept our drinks filled and replaced the tortilla chips without being asked too. The food was what we had the biggest problem with. We ordered the Chile Con Queso dip and it had a pretty good flavor but it was VERY runny and dripped everywhere. Same problem with the salsa; it was a runny mess. We ordered The Monterrey and The Grande. We both agreed the taco was fine, nothing spectacular about it though. The chile relleno was disgusting (we both had never had one before though). The enchiladas were all squished down from being covered with too much sauce and cheese, and there wasn't much chicken, beef, or filling inside the enchiladas. Abuelo's is an okay restaurant, but with the wide variety of Mexican restaurants out there we probably won't be back.

I've been here several times, and the place has never ceased to amaze me. The food is standard mexican fare, with the occasional "chef special." Despite the other reviews, I've never had a bad experience here - lunch during the week, dinner, crowded, empty - it's always been good. Sometimes the wait was long, but you can't blame them for being crowded. I always get the Patron margarita with my meal (it's hard to fuck that up) - and I mix my order up every time, and it's always been piping hot and delicious.

They have a good sized menu and I believe that is what may have hampered my experience. The overall restaurant is typical of the large national franchise. This is not an indictment of large national franchises but it does mean a consistency with a more bland taste to the food. My choice of the Steak Chimichanga was probably not the best selection, but it was okay. The servings are large portions and I did not finish my meal. I did, however, see other selections I would rather have had, but this was after my selection. Once again this is a good restaurant and typical of national chains, but it does not compare to the small Mexican style, Mom and Pa restaurants I have been to over the last several years. In fact it seems those are becoming the only authentic restaurants lefts. That is if place like Abuelos does not kill off the small places in the future.

This is not the Abeulos I grew up loving. The food is mediocre and bland. It seems the spiciness had been toned down for a Midwest pallet which is disappointing. I had trumpeted the place over and over again to my wife, who having little tolerance for most things spicy, thought it was underwhelming as well. Would not recommend to anyone who wants authentic Mexican or TexMex food.

Very Allergy Friendly Restaurant! Our kids have gluten and dairy allergies so eating out is hard for us. Alot of times we feel like a nuisance when we ask questions and sometimes we don't feel confident in the answers we receive from people. The manager at Abuelos (his name was Oscar) came out to talk to us and was very knowledgable about which foods we could and couldn't have. He seemed to really know and we trusted him. And he didn't seemed annoyed or bothered-- in fact he seemed happy to help. He said that he would check in with us and make sure everything was right and he did! We couldn't have their salsa (it has flour in it as a thickener!) or regular chips so they made baked chips and we ordered some guacamole for them. When the waiter brought out the guacamole it had a large, fancy chip sticking out of the top for visual appeal. The waiter appeared out of nowhere as the waiter was setting this down on our table, whisked it away and informed the waiter that we couldn't have that one because of the chip. He came back with a new one a few moments later. We thought the food was very good. We didn't really like the taste of the baked tortilla chips but were still happy to have something. I'm sure their regular chips are much tastier. I got the tacos (using corn tortillas) with black beans and rice. It was really good! And a bargain at only $9.00. My husband got a steak with seasonal vegetables and rice. It was delicious as well. We really enjoyed the vegetables, rice and black beans. Delicious!

After coming here on a saturday and finding I would have to wait an hour i left to return the next day hoping to have found some really good mexican food in Columbus. It had to be good being that full and looking so nice. Well the next day we were the only ones there for dinner, very strange. Sure it was only 6pm but still. I ordered the fajita salad, my son the tacos and my husband 2 platters so we could all sample their, tacos, chimichangas, burritos, and their sides. I was really expecting more and better quality for my money. It was not bad, but not good. It costed more than other mexican restaurants and I can not understand why, the portions are small and the food especially the sides are not good at all. I am always a fan of the rice and beans, both were gross. Sadly, I will not be coming back to Abuelos.

If I were to have a conversation with Abuelos, it would go something like this: me: Abuelos! You are so beautiful, I love your faux patio and the colorful murals. Abuelos: Well yes, I am a part of Easton. Therefore, I rock. me: Can I get a table? Abuelos: You must first wait hours and hours. And then it will not be ready. me: Ok, well, I'll be at the bar with the overpriced premixed mojitos until then. Abuelos: You will eat corn chips while you wait. me: But I'm allergic to corn. Abuelos: Corn chips!!! me: Can I have flour tortillas with the salsa instead? Abuelos: Fine. But you must wait even longer now so that we can hide kernels of corn in your spinach enchilada. me: *sigh* Ok....

I went over there last night for dinner. While I agree the restaurant itself is beautiful, and the servers are polite and attentive, the food itself was deeply underwhelming. Our table shared an order of Guacamole that was fresh, appetizing, and probably the best value we got at $3 for the plate. The chips and salsa were no better than average, and of our entrees, the two enchilada plate came with tiny enchiladas drowned under a lake of bland sauce, the 'patatas chiles', which I thought would be a take on patatas bravas, turned out to basically be box quality mashed potatoes with perhaps a half of a jalapeno pepper diced on top and some melted cheese, and rather dead refried beans, while the steak & shrimp plate my friend ordered was remarkably small for the price considering the competition immediately nearby. Prices weren't terrible for Easton, but to be frank I could have gotten the same (or better) quality food at any of the Mexican restaurants around town and paid $2-3 a plate less.

Their sangrias are amazing and the dos equis amber's are cold and delicious. HUGE portions, you can share with someone and still leave full. If you aren't a huge fan of super spicy, this is your best bet with Mexican food. They will ask you how spicy you want your food and they actually do what you ask. I like their queso sauce as well. The ambiance is very cool inside, I've been in a few that have waterfalls, so was disappointed that this one did not. But I love the high ceilings and the wait staff :)

I'll start off by saying that Abuelo's food/service has always been very good..until my last visit. Primarily, our server Corey was not very attentive, and yet she did not seem to be very busy... I started to get a bit upset when I saw her texting/talking and not checking up on us. When I received food that I didn't order, I kindly got Corey's attention. She became frustrated and tried to convince me I was in the wrong. At this point, I was too hungry to wait for new food, so I ate what was given to me. I admittedly did not leave a very good tip because of her poor service. The kicker was that on my way out, I overheard Corey call me and my boyfriend a bunch or FAGGOTS as she looked at tip receipt. That was definitely the last straw. Although the restaurant has good food, and often good service, I can't say that I can ever return. It's sad that people like this exist in society.

Definitely super corporate chain feel which would be on par for Easton but I have to say that the food has good flavor. I try to order a chile relleno every time I get Mexican/Tex-Mex or however you prefer to call it. I have to say that it's the best relleno I've had so far. I'm not sure how authentic it is but it tastes good. I'm kinda sick of talking about the authenticity of Mexican cuisine anyway. Who cares. In America it's a mixture of Mexican and American Southwest cuisine I guess. I don't even know what that means! What's the difference? Plus I'm sure Mexico is a big diverse country, I'm sure the food varies quite a bit within the country. Who knows, I'm not a food anthropologist. Anyway, our service was bad. The plates were not cleared from our table when we were done. At first I thought he was doing the proper etiquette thing by not clearing plates until everyone was done, but that wasn't it. I've been there a few times and never had this problem so I can give them a pass. Maybe a new guy.

Boss treated us to Abuelos last night. In terms of the food it's the same as you'll find in just about any mexican upscale. Not that it was bad or anything, actually my shrimp and steak fajita combo was quite good, it's just that you can get the same elsewhere. Agreed with the rest of the reviews that service was exceptional, no long waiting for any of our food, and prices are ok compared to other restaurants in the area.

Overpriced, super unauthentic Mexican food. Service is decent, and the atmosphere is kind of interesting, but there are so many better places for Mexican food in Columbus; it's shame to waste your money here. The menu is pretty extensive, but everything I've ever tried from here has been underwhelming and bland. The only upside are the huge portions - you'll have lots of mediocre Mexican food to take home!

Abuelos earns its first three stars on service and looks alone. It's a restaurant that feels special and they do a great job of keeping it clean and well-maintained. The painted sky over head always reminds me of the Venetian in Las Vegas and brings a smile to my face. The mural on the back wall is a great conversation piece, and my husband and I have made up back stories for most of the people pictured. On weekend nights you can be in for a wait, but the rest of the week you're usually led to a table within five minutes. My last visit I ordered the chicken fajita chimichangas with the chile potatoes and refried beans. The plate came out scalding hot and the food was scorching, but after a few minutes it had cooled down and I enjoyed every part of it. I also ordered a frozen strawberry daiquiri and it tasted just as good as it looked. The alcohol content seemed a little on the high side, but that's not really something to complain about on a mommy's night out. It's a little on the pricey side so watch for that, but if you come at lunch or during Happy Hour you avoid that problem and the crowds!

Oh coveted Cinco de Mayo, let me count the ways holiday-loving Americans celebrate your meaning. I chose to celebrate you at Abuelos where the $3 margarita special just couldn't keep me away; that, and I had a gift card. The menu is standard, actually kind of boring, and the salsa tastes like Picante sauce from a jar. The chips were paper thin and extra greasy, kind of like a potato chip, but I devoured them just the same. On the plus side, the portions were enormous, considering the price tag, and the place is beautiful and clean.

Los mejoeres de la casa is my fav. Bacon wrapped steak and bacon wrapped shrimp what more could you ask for. Did I mention bacon? Jake my bartender is the man... great service.

Abuelos always has excellent quality food and top notch service. The menu is seafood heavy and not what you'd expect from the typical TexMex places we're used to in CBus. If you are in the mood for Mexican and want something unique, Abuelos is your place. (and the margaritas are excellent as well)

Abuelo's.....good for food, service is lacking. One of my great accomplishments since moving to Columbus has been to experience different foods and eating establishments. I have became particular fond of the Easton Center for dining and shopping needs. Generally the restaurants in Easton impress me, sadly Abuelo's probably should run south of the border for their service. The atmosphere of the restaurant and quality of food were great. Pricing was reasonable. I was seated promptly, but that is where the serviced ended. After being seated I had to wait at least 10 minutes prior to being asked for my drink. After my food was delivered, I believe I was forgotten about as my waiter never did return to ask if I needed a drink refill or how the meal was. I am a firm believer in 2nd chances, so one day when the Mexican craving hits me, I hoe to say "Si Senor" to Abuelo's.

3.5 stars. The restaurant decor was pleasant and attractive. The service was polite, friendly, and extremely attentive. The food was very good - and Mexican is hardly my favorite, so that's saying something. My cheese enchiladas were yummy and satisfying, as were the mashed potatoes that came with them. Yes, I know, not the most authentic, but I don't like Mexican rice or refried beans, so I was a happy girl. But my Patron margarita was atrocious. I tried my coworker's margarita as well, and it wasn't any better. The prices were certanly good, but I could have mixed a better drink at home. I'd go back and order a Corona with my meal. UPDATE: It has been confirmed. I have tried the mixed drinks there three times now and they just cannot get it right. Skip the sangria too. Trust me on this.

I really like Abuelo's! Some have mentioned that it's expensive, but I don't think so. I walked away from a two person, one corona lunch and only paid $24.13, including tip. For a sit down, waitress served meal, I think that's pretty good. The fajita salad got rave reviews from my friend. I very much enjoyed the side salad (not on the menu) with steamed broccoli and salsa. The Espinaca Casserole was not what I expected. The menur= description says this: "Our unique blending of spinach, sautéed and seasoned mushrooms, onions, garlic, peppers and cheeses." But it had corn in it. Yes, I am a picky eater, but corn is one of those foods that you really should mention in a description. It can make or break the selection. I tried it anyway avoiding the corn. It was a little to cheesy for me. But the spinach was nice. No margarita's on this trip, but they are very good. If you're a woman, maybe alone or with a girl friend, for happy hour. I would recommend sitting at the bar. The bartenders do a top notch job of topping off.

Food: 3 Decor: 3 Service: 3 1. STUFFED CHICKEN MEDALLIONS, 13 (Medallions of chicken breast stuffed with chorizo, Poblano and cheese, and then lightly fried to perfection.) Not bad for Mexican. The chicken wasn't fried to death, and overall it wasn't bad.

My husband and I ate here while visiting Columbus. We love the Easton shopping center and decided to eat dinner here one night. We both love Mexican, so Abuelo's was a new, but still familiar experience for us. I loved the decor, you felt like you were in a small Mexican village, the murals on the walls were fantastic. We were seated in the middle of the "courtyard", and promptly greeted by our waitress who brought us some chips and their trio of sauces, which she then mixed for us. She was so upbeat and pleasant. Many Mexican restaurants give you chips and salsa, but not usually three kinds. Reminded me of the sauces you get and mix at PF Changs, only the Mexican version. I decided to take advantage of the Happy Hour specials and indulge my love of mojitos. However the initial one she brought was horrible. It tasted mostly of soda water with a little rum, and while it had limes and mint in it, it still lacked any flavor. The one she brought in replacement was much better, one of the best I've had, full of flavor. We both ordered the enchiladas. They were very good. We both loved the mashed potatoes they served with them, but the refried beans were not very good in my opinion. But the Avocado and Spinach enchiladas were both unique and delicious! Overall for the value and atmosphere we would go to another Abuelo's again based on this experience.

My husband & I like to go here when were in town visiting family. I love their sangria, their margartias, and their frozen margarita/sangria swirled drink. The food is very good as well. Try the three dip sampler for an appetizer, and my husband & I normally get a dish and share since the portions are so huge. The key lime pie isn't bad, but it's nothing to write home about. The mashed potatoes are very good, but the rice and beans are good, too. I've never had bad service here, either.

Went to abuelo's for lunch on cinco de mayo. The tortilla chips were delicious...light and airy. That was about the only plus. The service was very spotty. We were forgotten by the waiter. Two people got the wrong side dishes. Mine was missing the side dish ordered. Food overall was meh. The waiter was a nice guy, but he had way too many tables. You would think this restaurant would've prepared for a cinco de mayo rush.

Abuelos has good Happy Hour specials during the week from 3-6pm. Their nachos are a delicious way to start your meal and the sangria is great!

Abuelo's has turned into my lunch spot every Thursday. The House margaritas are very good. The prices are CHEAP for lunch and with the thin chips and salsa and the large portions..you wont leave here hungry. The patio is nice along with the staff. THis place definitely beats On the Border!!!!

Went there on a date with my wife last night - the service was very professional. Asked for queso with our chips - they bring out a LARGE bowl of queso. For the money paid for dinner, we got a lot for our money. Food quality was definitely above average, and definitely good authentic Mexican cuisine. Highly recommend!!!!

If you don't know this already, Abuelo's is located in the suburban mecca to consumerism that we Central Ohioans refer to as Easton. It's one of those indoor/outdoor "lifestyle" malls iPods are rampant, mosquitoes and other common pests are non-existent, and the ugly are killed and eaten. So if you have an aversion to the lifestyle choices that coincide with such a place, I suggest you avoid coming here at all costs. If you can embrace such a thing with just enough irony to make it palatable, then you owe it to yourself to gourd yourself at this fine Mexican establishment. The outside is delightfully tacky in an over-developed suburbia kind of way, and the inside is even better. Imagine the central courtyard of a Colombian drug lords villa, only with mountains of re-fried beans and salsa instead of cocaine. The fountain with a statue of what's either a conquistador or a Spanish missionary (can't remember which) ties it all together in a manner that's way too overt to not appreciate. The menu here is a hearty collection of combination platters that are sure to leave your head spinning after just one trip through the menu. This is one of those places where you'll end up changing your mind at least three times as soon as you spot the server on his/her way back to your table to take your order. Most of the entrees involve some sort of chicken or beef dish that comes with a side of tacos, enchiladas, or burritos that could easily constitute as a meal on their own. The chicken enchilada with the green chile sauce is a solid choice in my opinion. I'm a big fan of chicken in general, hence my great satisfaction with the chicken Banderillas, which were described as "fajitas on a stick". Tons of flavor with just the right amount of charred texture to it- perfect! I can't say that Abuelo's is one of the most authentic Mexican restaurants you'll ever eat at, but if you've read any of my other reviews of places like El Vaquero or La Fogata, you'd expect me to love this place because of it. The hokiness factor can seem undermining at times, but this is Easton- what do you expect? Great food, decent prices, and a delightfully corny dining room- my kind of place!

The food was good but the menu is kind of sketchy and our waiter was pretty unhelpful. If the menu says "taco" I think that is corn tortilla. Very little on the menu that sounds like it might be gluten free. I did not specifically tell him I was looking for gluten free but asked if a couple of things were flour or corn, Then I asked if something was breaded, then went with fajita tacos... Assuming taco meant corn.(you know what they say about assuming. Wrong. Flour. So I ate the insides and left the flour tortillas. The meat was great and I love their potatoes. Papas y chile. Charro beans we ordered on the side were bland.

I went to Abuelo's for lunch on a weekday. When we got there, there was no one at the front desk, and there were quite a few parties waiting. That was about the only problem I had with the whole visit, however. The service was good; the chips, salsa, and queso were about what you'd expect from an Americanized Mexican restaurant; and the menu had a good selection of items. I found it to be reasonably priced for the area, if a bit overpriced for the quality of the food. It isn't someplace I would choose to go, because there are so many great options nearby and I found Abuelo's to be just average, but I wouldn't say no to going back.

I'll try not to let our overtly-flirtatious, attractive server (who looked like he should belong at A&F instead) cloud my judgment of Abuelo's. Apparently us 3 lovely gals were too much for him to handle :D Expansive and overwhelming menu. I finally settled with the tilapia veracruz. Despite the dish providing me with 100,000 mg of sodium, it was mighty tasty and, somehow, I managed to clean my plate (on top of munching on chips and salsa beforehand.) I must have had a hankering for Mexican food and just wasn't aware of it. Kimby and Dee ordered quesadillas which were conducive to mouthwatering; both polished off their plates so I'm going to assume the dishes were as enjoyable as they looked. Heterogeneous crowds made the whole dining experience much more amusing. Unique decor, but I found some of the paintings on the wall to be a bit unsettling. A bride wearing a skull mask contrasted the overall happy wedding reception painting that spanned most of the dining area wall. Moderate prices, certainly not overpriced, for the amount and quality of the food you get. Definitely beats other chains, such as El Vaquero's and Don Pablo's, in a heartbeat. Attentive staff, in general, who kept the refills and salsa coming. Brief exchange with our aforementioned server... Server: So, you ladies work at Easton? Kimby: Nope, we're just here to grab a bite. Server: Oh, okay. 'Cause if you work at Easton, you get a 10% discount. Me: (jokingly) In that case, yeah, we do. Server: Like at Forever21? Dee: You got it. (Laughter all around.) Checks arrived a few minutes later; lo and behold, our server took off 10% off of everyone's bills. In addition, he had also kindly supplied us each with a week's supply of buttermints!

I dined at Abuelo's on December 11. Usually the service here is impeccable. My friends and I come here quite often. The food is always very good and the service has always been excellent. The service on this day was the worst I have ever had. The server, Megan, was very inattentive. From the moment we walked in, she could have cared less. We had to ask for refills on the salsas and when we did, it took forever; she did not know the happy hour drinks, she behaved as if we were intruding on her time. There were 4 of us and where as she probably would have cleared a very nice tip, she did not. I would suggest management look at her and when we go back, we will definitely not sit in her section. Otherwise, a very good meal.

Went here last weekend for lunch, and this place was by far the best mexican food I have ever had!! The chicken cordon bleu was stellar. The whole experience was awesome and topped off with a Sangria Swirl!

I don't go to Easton often, but this is my favorite place to eat if I am forced to be there. I've only been twice, but both times the food was very good. The first time I had avocado enchiladas topped with shrimp and scallops and a creamy sauce. They were very rich but amazingly good! The second time I had gone back to being a vegetarian, and I know I ordered some sort of combination meal but don't recall exactly what was in it, just that it was good, and that the mashed potato side dish was excellent. Their chips and salsa were good, and I remember drinks being quite passable though not outstanding. It's been a couple years since I've been here, but I'd willingly go back. Four stars for food, and nice ambience. If it wasn't a chain and wasn't at Easton, I might give five.

Pretty standard Mexican, nothing memorable, nothing horrible. I had the Juarez combo and there was nothing noteworthy about it. Not worth waiting too long for a table. But the margaritas are good!

This is pretty basic and average Mexican. I would not go our of my way to eat here, but I would not complain about going here either. Salsa is actually quite good. Lots of places to eat in Easton and most of them are average fare chains just like Abuelo's.

I've been to Abuelos a few times before. After tonight, I probably won't likely want to return. The food just didn't have enough flavor. The salsa and chips were great. Chips were light and crispy w/the perfect amount of salt and the salsa was quite tasty. Unfortunately the main event was not so spectacular. I ordered the chicken fajita tacos w/papas con chiles and the seasonal veggies. The presentation looked great. It came w/some "guac" and sour cream, lettuce and tomato. The paps (like mashed potatoes) were nice and cheesy. The seasonal veggies had some zucchini and broccoli, corn, black beans and peas. Kinda weird tasting. The fajita tacos themselves didn't have much flavor. I asked the waiter for salsa and w/the salsa, they did taste ok. My husband ordered the chicken fajitas and he recvd a mere 3 tortillas and a very small amt of the extras - pico de gallo, "guac", cheese and sour cream. Poor guy. The chicken wasn't very flavorful either. These fajitas looked sad compared to those at El Vaquero. Too bad there was no El Vaq near Easton. I should not have bothered to ask for a box for my 1 leftover taco; I actually ended up throwing it away while we were walking around Easton afterward. I knew I wasn't going to eat it. To sum it up: I thought their food was better than this but I guess I was wrong.

Good food. Server was great. Only thing that I was baffled by was they were half empty and put us on a 15 min wait. I asked why? They said they were short staff. Other than that we would go back

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
