Solid italian joint in the middle of Parma. I'm looking for my baby because I have to have my car fixed at Kurak's. Where is my baby? I'm chomping this stromboli and my baby said I eat too much and now an aloof lover. Kurak's has Marco's Pizza for lunch yet I am eating Rocky's and I'm am tired of the pain and misery of my baby who has impressionable stupidity at every last turn lately. I wanted to take the old man's pair of shoes in bathroom and start whack-a-mole.

Had a coupon so I ordered for pick up. The place was very dark inside and tiny. The guy at the counter was nice and friendly. The pizza I got was with pineapple and ham. What I thought had been medium pizza's are actually their larges. Their pizzas run on the small side. I enjoyed the pizza, but my mom did not really like their red sauce. The price was good with the coupon, but without one I won't be back.

It's always nice to walk into a pizza place and know that even had you been blindfolded and led in, you would immediately know you were in a pizza joint. Rocky's is that: it's not a bistro. It's not a cantina, not a diner.... It's a restaurant or eatery by virtue of the fact that you eat food there but, for all intents and purposes this is a joint. The map of Italy on the wall, the relief sculpture made of corks; all the things that you want from an Italian joint are in here. There are maybe 8 tables, you might seat 25 people in there but I doubt that has happened very often. Not because the food isn't good (it was) but because it's just not that kind of place. Situated right on Broadview Road in Parma in a small row of storefronts, the area doesn't have that sort of neighborhoody feel. But the waiter was very inviting, a little playful with the kids and the food was pretty darn good. The old man eating in there had an Italian accent. And the waiter looked very suspiciously like a slightly shorter version of Steven Segal circa 1990. He didn't quite have that full-on Brooklyn thing going on with his speech but it was kind of uncanny. Although it's a "Pizza AND Restaurant" by signage, we didn't have pizza because the kids wanted pasta; they both had spaghetti and salads and I had the lunch special penne with a meatball. The portions were solid and the kids liked the spaghetti and sauce as well as the meatballs. The salads were unremarkable but made with quality ingredients. The garlic bread was quite good. The red sauce was really nice - not overly sweet, deep flavors, smooth with just a little tang. The meatballs had a great dense consistency you get when the meat is ground to a paste and they had terrific flavor. You can not beat homemade meatballs and sauce. Even average homemade meatballs and sauce (and this was totally better than average) is better than frozen meatballs and jar sauce. I promise you. The pasta was prepared perfectly. My kids don't often finish food, but they finished this. Total cost with tip for three pasta meals, salad and drinks at lunchtime: $31. All major cards but American Express are accepted. Why should you eat there? You should eat there because it's good. You should eat there because guys like this making good solid Italian food with really great looking specials at dinnertime (for people not eating with school age kids like I find myself) are all that stand between you and the belief that Olive Garden is good. I'm very serious about this; eat here and your money stays close to home. And you'll get a good meal, too.

The 1st time we went we both ordered the chick parm which was great, huge, and looked just like the pic on the menu. 2nd time we used a groupon and presented it before we ordered and both ordered chick parm again. When it came to the table it looked like one order was split in half and divided between the 2 of us. I made a comment to the server, who was also the owner, that it didn't look like the picture on the menu and that last time it was double the size, he didn't say anything. They shouldn't use groupon if they're trying to get people to come to experience the correct portions and not cut the dinner in half, that just showed me how cheap you are. It's just chicken! Would've made it one of our regular spots but now won't go back since the OWNER ripped us off.

When I arrived my pizza was coming out of the oven and looked and smelled very good! I was then informed that Rocky's forgot it is the 21st century and only takes CASH! (Of which I had none) I was then informed that an ATM was available next door. I politely let the older lady working know that I was not going to pay a 5 dollar service fee for a 10 dollar pizza. She was unhappy, so was I. Try joining the rest of the civilized world and take my card!!!! Perhaps then I will try again.

I tried Rocky's last night on recommendation from my neighbor. We were standing around the front yard, talking about life, car odors, birds as neighbor John drank a 40. If you ever want to join the conversation, drive down W 10th St on a sunny day and chances are, some of us will be out there doing things like this. I kept getting flustered because a swallow kept swooping down and trying to pick at my skull. My neighbor thought it was the funniest thing ever. Running from this bird combined with partying built up a deep hunger. He advised that I try Rocky's in Parma. I did and once again, my weekend pizza advisor John was right! He is more than a neighbor, he is a father figure. The pizza was thick and filling. They use a decent pizza oven and it develops a nice crispy crust. The sauce, cheese and toppings were all great together. This is one of my new, most exciting discoveries in life.
