The wedges were good. The roll was delicious. The collard greens were awesome. However the chicken fingers needed some oomph. More soul please. Collard greens really hit the spot.

We had a rare fried chicken craving recently. Lucky for us, the West End Ritchie's is right down the street. Before I get too far in...yes, it is a little sketchy. The parking lot isn't the cleanest and there are regular crowds who loiter. I live in the neighborhood, and I am willing to admit that. However, the neighborhood is improving (we've lived here 3 years now), and it is leaps and bounds safer than it was even last year. Alright, let me get off my soapbox... The chicken is good. It's crispy, juicy, well seasoned, and has a lot of meat on each piece. I was actually surprised by how much meat there was on the breasts. One piece was plenty. The sides are so-so. The cornbread is sweet, perhaps too much for some, but it's very moist and tasty. Our favorite thing, and something we had stopped to grab a few times before, is the steak fries. They are battered in the chicken breading and fried, and less what they probably do to your cholesterol levels, they are really awesome. Portion size for the fries is also huge. Overall, Ritchie's isn't the best soul food I've ever had, but it's INCREDIBLY affordable and good when there is a craving for southern comfort food.

Hidden jem of the Queen City. Without a doubt, the best fried chicken in the state of Ohio. Oh, and you'll be amazed by what you discover when you go inside. Trust me.

Richie's is the bomb. When you go, be sure to get some spicy chicken. Their regular breading is good, but the spicy chicken is next level good. I'd been going to UC for 3 years before I finally went to Richie's. I can't believe that it isn't a household name for students because it is that good. If you haven't been there and live in close proximity to either location, you're doing something wrong. The more you order, the happier you will be.

Looooooooove Richies..... Flavor is blissful... Wedgies are excellent. Ok prices honestly. Your best bet is the 4 piece special for 6.75. You get a leg,thigh,wing,drumstick,3 wedge, and a roll or cornbread.... Looooooooove it. Only complaint is they raised prices, but hey can't have nothing good too long.... Pink lemonade is awesome.... Good ol original hard-working people who are easy to talk too. Sometimes though, you can easily tell they fry the chicken in the fish grease. It'll have a little taste to it. I really have no complaints. As far as location, do not be intimidated by the loiterers that tend to be in the general area. You mind your business they mind theirs. Really nothing going on. Anyway,if you're in the area give it a try...

Every time I drive past this place and my windows are down, my mouth starts to water from the smell of delicious fried chicken. The orange neon signs on the windows only further my hunger with words like, "Sweet potato pie" and "Homemade peach cobbler." So I finally tried it last night. And oh my goodness. The food was amazing! I was amazed at how truly delicious the meal was, considering it was so inexpensive. I had the mild 3 piece chicken meal with the cornbread and 2 sides. I was a little overwhelmed when choosing a side because they all sounded great. I decided on the greens and macaroni and cheese. I've never had collard greens before and found them a little astringent in taste, but I actually really liked it. The mac and cheese was really good... Penne-style noodles that really held the cheese. My meal was $5.50, which was crazy! I didn't even eat all of it, so I have leftovers for lunch today. My boyfriend had the spicy 2 piece chicken meal with cornbread and one side, which was red beans and rice. Forget what you know about red beans and rice, because this was the best I've ever had! (Way better than Popeye's.) Also, the spicy chicken was not crazy spicy, it was very subtle. I preferred the mild, but both were good. I split a piece of the sweet potato pie and a small serving of peach cobbler with my boyfriend. When I say small, I really mean small (We each had about 3 bites). But it was served warm and gooey and not overly sweet. The sweet potato pie was not overly sweet, but creamy and subtle in the sweet potato taste. All in all we ate til we were full, had dessert and leftovers, all for $12. We will definitely go back and try some of their other offerings, like fried catfish and candied yams. I cannot wait!

Best fried chicken in Cincy. Period. Always go with the corn bread and be sure to thank these ladies. They take great care of me...

A bag of fried chicken is frequently among the list of the best things ever, but it topped the list on Sunday night when I stopped in Cincinnati for a transportation layover during our fabulous blizzard, walked from the train station, and decided that in light of having not eaten a legitimate meal for a whole day of travel, needed some comfort food. I was surprised at how fast I got my food in addition to both how cheap and how good it was. And everyone was real nice. I'd love to go back, but that was the first time I've ever been in Cincinnati (and conceivably the last time for awhile, probably).

I'd heard great things about Richies, but honestly I thought the chicken was mediocre at best. It was a little too greasy, and the crust was soggy. Sides were passable but nothing special. Service was a little slow and brusque since they were so busy. Personally I like the Hitching Post best for good fried chicken.

Being a student of UC, I'd passed this place countless times and a part of me was always curious, despite the questionable appearance of it and location. The first time that I tried it was a few months ago with my roommate when we were both craving some late night food. We decided to give it a try, despite the fact that the customer before us in the drive-thru line straight up got out of his car and peed right in front of us (I kid you, not).. as freaked out as we were, we proceeded through the drive-thru and in the end, it was actually quite worth it. For such a small price, their fried chicken is pretty juicy and has a slight kick of spicyness, which is a plus to me. It was very flavorful and impressively good! The sides were also great, such as the macaroni, corn on the cob, and the cornbread. It's definitely got that southern cooking taste satisfier. Since then, Ritchie's has been on my list of late night go-to's and I've encouraged friends to go as well. Please do not let the location and exterior fool you.. it's pretty darn good!

Hello, I tried richies today for the first time and had 1 of their lunch specials and all I can say is I felt cheated! I ordered the chicken fingers and wedges and I thought I was buying REAL chicken and ended up with minced, mechanically processed and formed CRAP......PLEASE BEWARE...very disappointed...

I was in search of some good fried chicken and I was directed to try this place. The location is in shady area, but I decided to give them a shot. When I arrived they were crowded. The prices were decent. The setup is similar to Church's Fried Chicken, so they have a big display case of hot and ready food. The chicken did not look too seasoned, but I tried it anyway. And I was correct, the chicken does lack flavor big time! But the BBQ sauce saves the day! Even though they charge you 50 cents for 1 small container, it is well worth it. I also order wedges which were amazing. As far as customer service goes, if you are looking for service with a smile....I wouldn't suggest coming here. Fried Chicken 1-5=2. BBQ Sauce 1-5=5. Wedges 1-5=5. Customer Service 1-5=2.
